0:00The following podcast is a dear media production. Besties, welcome to another episode of After Bedtime. Today's episode is selfish. It's for me. Um, I recently became obsessed with this very random app that's called Activations. Okay, don't close out yet. This is a true story. I have been a fan of manifesting really only since the beginning of Big Little Feelings. The very first time I ever manifested because I thought it was total bullshit, I'll be very honest. I found some random thing on Instagram and I tried it for a few minutes and I went in the bathtub and I lit a candle and I did the instructions exactly as this little Instagram thing told me to do.

0:50And that was the first time I ever manifested 2019 2019 New Year's Eve. And by three months from then, we had launched Big Little Feelings. I didn't even have a name for it when we were manifesting. Dean and I hadn't even gotten together and had an idea yet. But by three months, we had launched it. Six months, we had almost a million followers, started my own business. Husband could leave his job. Like this shit worked. And it wasn't just that I manifested that one time. I was really committed to trying to manifest every two or so weeks, if I'm being very honest, in that beginning period. Now, let me just say research actually does back manifesting.

1:33For whatever reason, it's not just this mystical thing. What manifesting really is, is tapping into the feeling of what you want in your future. OK, and it's not that woo and it's not that crazy. And I am such a fan of it that when I found this app, Activations, I knew I needed to find whoever made it. And no surprise here, it was a woman. Her name is Mimi Bouchard, and she founded this app. And there's a million apps out there that are meditation apps, which I also love. I love meditating. I'm down with that. It lowers your stress levels. But what's different about this app that I have never found before and I'm now obsessed with is it's kind of a mixture where, yes, there's some calming, quote unquote, activations, audios, but it really is about picturing what you want in your life and this like cinematic music behind it.

2:28And it's exactly what I've actually been doing on my own for years, except I feel like it's amplified because it's all led by Mimi herself. I'm going to go ahead and just let the interview do the talking, but I had to have her on. I hope you guys take away as much as I did from this interview and from Activations, should you try it? And I have to say, mid-episode, you'll see this. Mimi actually gives us a discount on Activations. I'm gonna say it now. That way you guys just have it if you wanna try it. It's only available through their exclusive link. It's activations.com slash feelings. You get a massive discount.

3:06If you wanna try Activations, no press. This is truly just because I have seen it help me so much. OK, we're going to get into the episode. We're going to talk all about manifesting, how to get what you want, why it helps, the neuroscience behind it. She breaks it all down. I loved this episode. I can't wait for you to hear it. Besties, you are in for a treat today. We are talking to one of my favorite people on the Internet today. I'm a little bit obsessed with her. It's Mimi Bouchard, who is an entrepreneurial trailblazer. We love entrepreneurial girlies here, okay, who defied convention by making radical changes to pursue her vision of creating a new type of audio, Activations, offered on her top-rated app, Activations.

3:56So Activations has quietly amassed tens of thousands of subscribers, including high-profile people like Miranda Kerr, and it has created a completely new category of audio in the personal growth space. So here's why I love them. These are not just like calm down meditations and you have to lay down. What Mimi is really focused on is empowering women, empowering women to reach their full potential, to reach some happiness, to get what they deserve in life. It's a really active audio. And I'm super down, you guys. I'm super into it. I had to have her on the pod. And Mimi is here today. So welcome, Mimi, to After Bedtime.

4:39Thank you so much, Kristen, for having me. I'm so excited for this conversation. I'm selfishly so excited for this conversation for me. And so if I'm excited about it, I know that all the women listening are excited about it. So I want to start first. How or why did you start doing this work? Like, where did this come from? It came from desperation, to be totally honest with you. I found self-help, personal development about 11 years ago when I was really in a pivotal time in my life. And it kind of saved me. You know, I was very unhappy with every area of my life in my book, activate your future self.

5:22I talk about the five pillars of life. There's financial, social, physical, mental, spiritual, in every single five pillar I was lacking. And, um, yeah, so at a young age, I got into personal development and it just transformed me. And I've been obsessed with learning about how to feel amazing for all that time and how to truly live this one life in the best, most intentional, most present and beautiful way possible. So that's kind of how I got into this work. And, um, back in the day, I couldn't really get into meditation. Everyone was telling me to, I was at the beginning of my transformation journey and I just meditation's great, but I just, I was busy.

6:08I was trying to create a new life for myself and, um, it wasn't really making me feel different. So, uh, intuitively I started recording and producing these activations for myself. It was intense, inspiring cinematic music mixed with visualization and guided words that made me feel very alive and very energized. And then I would listen to these audios in everyday moments. And then, you know, fast forward, I launched a platform that offers activations about five years ago and it's helped over a hundred thousand women. So yeah, that's kind of where I am. I'm like accidentally an entrepreneur because I just was sharing what, what worked for me.

6:49And it seems like a lot of people wanted something similar. I think that's how entrepreneurship starts, especially for us women, you know, where we're just like, if I'm struggling with this, it means there's gotta be other people that are struggling. And I have to say, I loved activations because I actually really love meditating. So I don't want to, I don't want to. No, I think it's great. It's just a different use case. There's a different reason for it. I think meditating helps me in the middle of like a very, very busy day and anxiety and just I need to just really quell my nervous system.

7:23It's more of a passive thing, I will say, versus the activations are more active. And I have found myself sort of craving or wanting that. I know it sounds a little bit crazy, but until you've heard it and done them, the cinematic music even it just it's like I get a full body tingle I am feeling motivated I am like picturing my future self so I'm trying to like hold on I'm trying to pull up which one I did oh my god what is it you're oh visualize your dream life before bed oh so good and I don't think we do this on a regular basis we are so busy the people that are listening to this podcast are moms.

8:05So we're especially busy. And I'm going to tell you something. I'm not spending a whole lot of time visualizing my dream life, right? I am trying to keep my three children alive. I am visualizing their dream life. I am, you know, doing snacks and the littler things and the bigger things for them. Talk to me a little bit about how someone as busy as a busy mom can actually get a lot from this type of work? And how can we actually physically do it? That's my selfish question for you. Moms have the hardest job in the world. And, you know, adding on top of that, the pressure to do all of these things like journal and read and go to that seminar and do that personal development thing and do that vision board and, you know, even think about what you want for yourself.

8:54Like I have, I have so much sympathy for actually most of our users on the app are moms. Funny enough, it just naturally happened that way because moms crave something that they can have it stack. And a lot of moms that I've connected with, I have many moms in my life and hopefully at some point soon I will enter that department. And, uh, yeah, you know, I, I talk to a lot of our customers and I employ moms as well. I like to work with moms. So what I've heard is that it's very easy to lose that spark that you once had. And it's very easy to not have that time for yourself because obviously you now have this big priority in front of you, your babies, your children.

9:37But the truth is that when you can find something that doesn't add onto your plate, but simply something you can do or listen to while you're already doing what you do every day, it makes it so much more easeful. And you really allow yourself to do what makes you feel good in a way that doesn't stress you out more. So I think a lot of moms love activations because of that habit stacking aspect. It's just like listening to a podcast. I love listening to podcasts and I'm sure everyone listening right now is probably habit stacking. They're not just sitting and listening. They're probably walking the dog, driving to work, doing the dishes in line at the grocery store, whatever it is.

10:18So activations is simply a new type of audio. That's just personal development, visualization focused with really inspiring cinematic music weaved in. And you just listen to it in daily moments. We have like 17 categories on the app from walking, cooking, cleaning, getting ready in the morning and everything in between. So this was designed for moms. And when you're doing those things, just to be really clear, you're visualizing these crazy, not crazy, but these bigger things that we haven't even dreamed of in my case in like 10 years, you know, since we became moms. It's getting back to yourself and thinking through what do I want for myself?

11:03What does my day look like? What do I look like in the future. Can you tell me a little bit about this? Is this manifestation? Is this it? What exactly is this that we're doing? Because I feel like it makes me feel really good. I don't even know if it's working or not. I just know that it's making me feel good to actually take a second and think, OK, I'm visualizing myself. I'm visualizing myself in three years. A, is this manifestation? B, if it's not, what is it? And C, I guess, what is, quote unquote, quote, the outcome or what is the effect on our brains or our psyches or our thoughts or our life when we're doing things like this with intention?

11:41Such good questions. So I actually call it science backed manifestation. And a lot of manifestation work can feel really unattainable. And like, you don't really believe it. Because, for example, the movie The Secret just tells you, oh, think about something and it's going to pop up in front of you. That's not what this is. And that's not how this works. I am very pragmatic in the work that I do. And the power of the brain is actually pretty incredible. There is a lot of science to show why this actually rewires your brain and changes how you think in such a profound way. And by the way, if you're feeling different when you're listening to these, something is shifting.

12:20You are going to see results. I can promise you that when you do the work, it does execute quite flawlessly. You just have to be consistent, but going back to the actual science behind it. So there are a few aspects. The first I'm going to start with is classical conditioning. We've all heard of that theory, the Pavlov dog theory, where Pavlov rings the bell and the dog salivates because it's associating that, you know, stimuli with a bodily responsible, essentially we are taking advantage of classical conditioning. when we listen to something that makes us feel and think different, tied and paired with an everyday activity.

12:59So think about it this way. If you're listening to a seven minute walking activation in the morning, when you are bringing your kid to school or whatever it is soon enough, you don't even need to be listening to that activation to feel inspired, abundant, positive, balanced, whatever feelings you want to feel. You're conditioning yourself by listening to this type of audio in daily moments. Every night when you are cooking dinner, we actually have a whole cooking category in the app. And I personally love like the jazzy positive cooking activations. You just listen to it in the background. And if you do that, you know, three, four nights a week, you're going to notice soon enough that when you're cooking without any activation or music or anything on, you're going to just start feeling these positive emotions and thinking these thoughts, right?

13:50These future self thoughts. And a lot of this work is rooted, Kristen, in self-image psychology. There was a book I read years ago called Psycho-Cybernetics by Dr. Maxwell Maltz. He's the father of self-image psychology. This book was written in the fifties. It's kind of a hard read, but interesting if you're into that kind of stuff. And it is so fascinating. Essentially, all of this work is self-image psychology based. how you see yourself will determine your life. It's simply put how you feel about yourself, how you see yourself will create your future. So bringing it to the, another scientific point on how listening to these types of activations will truly transform you is the RAS.

14:33We all have something in our brains called the reticular activating system. And this is essentially the filtration system in our brains that dictates what we consciously notice or don't notice. We need the RAS because if not, our brains would literally explode with information. There's so much information around us at all times. How could we notice it all? So the RAS, I guess, is a good thing, but it is telling you what to notice based on your priorities, your thoughts, You are reoccurring beliefs and processes, right? So if you deeply believe that nothing good ever happens to you and that life is just a bit crappy, then you're going to continue seeing reasons everywhere why that is true.

15:16It reaffirms you, right? But then if you now begin to start believing that potential is around you, that you can actually be happy and thriving and enjoy this phase of your life and you can get your spark back and you are a lucky person. If you start to embed these beliefs into your brain, guess what's going to happen? Your RAS is going to be programmed to show you reasons why that is true. The most magical thing that happens when I was starting my business, I started to program my RAS to tell me, okay, I'm successful. I'm a successful business person. Guess what started happening? I started noticing opportunities everywhere that always existed.

15:57I just never saw them. So it's incredible how your brain will just reaffirm what you tell yourself. And that's one of the biggest things. So it is very much science backed. It is not too woo woo manifestation, but it is talking about your energy and your thoughts and your beliefs. And it's all intermingled. And I mean, this is such a dumb example, but I'm going to go ahead and give it. But I was with my family. We were traveling at the airport and my husband, bless him, Everybody here knows him. He's the best, but he can kind of notice every single thing that ever goes wrong. And I am like knee deep in this kind of work, right?

16:34Which is just like, you notice the good and then you get more good and no judgment is just how we both are. And so we have a diaper bag. Okay. And the diaper bag almost always gets stopped and we have to like go through it because there's pouches or this formula or whatever it is. Right. And he always makes such a big deal out of but it's always like, oh my God, you know, blah, blah, blah. This time the diaper bag went through and he picked up the diaper bag and we all walked away. And I was like, what? And it was just such a physical moment for me realizing and being like, what if we noticed the time that the diaper bag made it through security and had no problems?

17:12And that's what we noticed more of. And then what if your children heard you talk about how everything goes my way. Everything is going our way today, guys. It didn't get stopped. What smooth sailing? I feel like we're so wired, or at least I definitely am wired to notice and to grumble and be really focused on the things when there's traffic and when there's this and when there's not. And then when there's the absence of a roadblock, we're not quite noticing the absence or the ease or noticing that gratitude. Yeah. And so the the idea of rewiring your brain at this age, is it ever too late at this age to rewire your brain?

18:00Is it ever too late to feel better and happier in your life? No way. I feel like this work could benefit absolutely anyone. And it's simply, it's not even work. It's just recognizing how you want to feel and doing a, putting a little bit of effort in to feel that way. And this is the beauty about this practice. It's not actually hard. Like I always have liked taking the shortcut in life. And I think that's kind of why I developed this because I just wanted to listen to something while doing other things, something that can amp me up and make me feel happy and excited. It's kind of like if the feeling you get after a coffee, like that aliveness, that clarity, that's what activations make you feel like.

18:41Right. So I, I wanted that shortcut. I wanted to be able to feel that way on demand and not necessarily need to commit a lot of time and effort and energy into it. And it, you can feel different very quickly. And listen, we don't need activations to feel good. Like I, of course I, I deeply believe in this work and I've seen firsthand how it's changed thousands and thousands of people, but you can do this in little ways yourself. You can do this by putting your phone away completely and turning it on. Do not disturb and taking a minute for yourself. You can do this by romanticizing life, you know, lighting a candle while you're having dinner and playing some jazz music in the background.

19:22That's free. That's easy. That's just these little things you can do to make life feel more romantic and beautiful. You know, you can listen to music that makes you feel a very good, specific way. You know, whether it's music from when you were younger, I've been listening to music. I listened to when I was younger and it just kind of brings that nostalgic, fun feeling back, whether it's, you know, just making an extra decision for yourself, adding some collagen in your morning match our coffee, just choosing yourself in these small moments will change your life more than waiting for one day to make a big change.

20:02That's the biggest thing that I've learned that I've seen in people that have transformed. It's like, it's not this big, hard thing that you're scheduling on your calendar for one day. It's like change actually happens in those tiny little moments where you choose yourself and anyone can do that. We can start to reframe our life and romanticize these small moments and just connect with ourselves again and remove distraction when we don't need it. You know, having social media on our phones, that's something that really has harmed so many of us. It's so addictive. It's something I struggle with for sure.

20:39And it's just the awareness, you know, doing the things that make you feel alive, doing less of the things that make you feel numb. Right. Right. And that's such an interesting point because I would so much rather be spending six minutes with intention if I have six minutes than six minutes scrolling on my phone, which I do all the time, you know, if I have just six minutes, but I actually could be, you know, doing something for me or I could be doing something just visualizing or any of the stuff that we're doing. So let's talk a little bit more about the more intense ones that are more manifest based because that's exciting to me because so far we're talking about like you have activations on this app and they're awesome and they're great because they're like ones that I love are you're just walking.

21:29You're just walking in the morning or six or seven minutes and you're, I think there was like positive affirmations while I was walking and I loved that one. And then there's also one. Easy to listen to one. I felt so great. I felt really good afterwards. And normally maybe I'd be like scrolling my phone during those seven minutes. But talk to me about the more intense ones and the more, you know, really sort of manifesting. I think you even have one that's like manifest a million dollars, right? Or manifest like these bigger ones. I really want to hear about it. And I want to hear what are the steps to take when you want to change or you not even want to change?

22:07You have a dream. It's kind of crazy. You tell yourself like, I can't do that. What then? What then? So we have so much content on the app, anything big or small, like you mentioned, we have huge financial goal activations. And then we also have the ones for setting goals at the beginning of your day that are more pragmatic and everything in between. So to answer your question, talking about the really big goal ones, we obviously have that in there because a lot of the people that come to the app come because they want to transform a specific area of their life. And financial is a big one. We're actually launching an entrepreneurship series, I think next month.

22:48I'm so pumped about it. And I just recorded it and spoke to our composers and audio engineers and writers. We have a whole team creating these activations. It's like every single one is its own big drop. So we, we are so excited for this next big, big drop, the entrepreneurship series. Um, a lot of our, our users, it's funny. A lot of them are moms and a lot of them are entrepreneurial, you know, as well. So I get it, especially a woman in business. You know, we have, we have big goals. Like we have to figure out how we were going to achieve that. Right. So it's again, not magic. It's not like you listen to this activation and poof, you're going to win the lottery.

23:25It doesn't work that way. But what we do in these activations is we help you get very comfortable with sitting with that amount of money. Most of us are very uncomfortable with these big financial goals we have, and they're never going to come. We're never going to become the type of person that has a million dollars or that has this large sum of money if we are not comfortable with that amount of money. So it's really like a feeling. So when I say visualize, I get people to visualize with their bodies a lot, not just with their head, but with their body, it's more important having a very comfortable physical feeling with what you want to create in your life.

23:59So with the manifest money category, we have this whole section under the targeted visualization main category. And what you're referring to, we have everything from manifest a thousand dollars to millions and millions and millions. So, and everything in between for whoever is wanting to call in more wealth into their life. They can select what number they want to feel comfortable with, energetically aligned with. They want to be able to envision the version of themselves that has that amount, that feels comfortable and familiar with that amount. So it really takes you through this journey, those activations specifically.

24:37Every activation does because of the music we use. We use music from some of the top movie and TV show composers in the world. This music is very cinematic, it makes you feel alive. And I keep coming back to that word alive because we need to feel alive more in our one beautiful life, you know? So it's, it brings you through a journey. It's intense. It's beautiful. It's soulful. It gives you those goosebumps. I was so happy when you said that the activations gave you goosebumps, Kristen, because that is the feeling that I just love. It's like the sparkly clear aliveness. Like I love being alive feeling.

25:12Yeah. So we have a lot of activations for big goals. And it is helping train you to be familiar and comfortable with that amount and also to help reprogram your self-image to be aligned with the version of you that has it. Okay. Speaking of the app, I'm wondering, is there any way we could get some sort of a discount for the besties for the people who are listening? They want to try it, but they're just kind of on the fence. Like maybe a discount code could help take the step. Yeah, we can totally do that. We do like discount links because the app store actually doesn't allow you to do discounts.

25:47So the best deal I can do like a landing page on the website, let's say like activations.com slash feelings. Does that sound good? Okay. Activations.com slash feelings. I'll give you guys like the biggest discount we offer. And then there's also a two week free trial. So if you guys want to try it out, you can try it for two weeks free and I'll put a really big discount on that special link. And if you want, I can actually add your favorites to that link as well. So the listeners can see Kristen's favorites on that landing page. Oh, that's a great idea because I do. I'm very opinionated and I have favorites.

26:23Activations.com slash feelings. You're the best. Thank you. What a treat today's episode is because I get to talk not only about an app that I am obsessed with, but I also get to talk about the car seat that I am obsessed with. And I'm going to tell you something. I have been using Nuna car seats since my little babe, the very first one, was born. I remember when my first was born, I did an obsessive amount of research, as one does, when they have their very first baby. I really went to the depths and the depths and the depths of the internet and picked Nuna. And one thing about Nuna is that it supports parents through every stage.

27:10And that's what I like. It makes my parenting journey a little bit easier knowing that I never have to research what is the next best thing. What is the next booster seat? And what branch should we do for a booster seat? No, no, no, no. Every single stage, Nuna makes their products the best. And I'm going to be very honest with you, especially with the first baby, we were on a real tight budget, like a really, really, really tight budget. And I remember the Nuna car seat was one thing that we had. If we were going to get nothing else, we were going to get this car seat. A, it's just so comfortable.

27:49But B, it's about safety. Safety is where Nuna truly shines. Every car seat meets or exceeds federal safety standards with features like side impact protection, steel reinforced frames, and extended rear-facing options. And it's not just about checking boxes for them. It's about going above and beyond. And something that really sets them apart is that their entire car seat line is made with FR-free materials. That means no added fire retardant chemicals, which are often linked to health concerns. Instead, they use naturally flame-resistant fabrics that meet safety standards without compromising your child's health.

28:29This is really what sets Nuna apart and why we have stuck with them for 10 years. The other part that I love about it is that it's honestly just made for parents with real life. We don't have time to wrestle with buckles and buttons and instruction manuals. Everything that they have is easy. Their car seats click with one hand. Their strollers fold down with a single motion. Their travel systems, they're just intuitive. I fight for my life with a stroller. I'm going to tell you that. The amount of times I have been in a zoo parking lot swearing, okay, while people probably maybe recognize me because this is kind of embarrassing, but if I go to a zoo, I'm like Lady Gaga at that zoo, okay?

29:11I go to a normal place. I am not recognized. I am a normal person. I am just this lady on the internet doing a parenting thing, You know what I mean? I walk into a zoo, never been recognized more in my life. So here I am at the zoo trying to get a stroller to go down, to put it into the back of the car. The baby is screaming. They need a nap. No, no, no. This is why I will never go with anything but Nuna, because Nuna is the only one that even I, who doesn't understand how to make any gear work, Even I can do it, okay? So is Nuna worth it? Absolutely. It's gear that's easy to use, built to last, obsessively safe, and crafted with premium materials that respect your child's well-being and the world around them.

Visit NunaBaby.com to learn more or visit your local Nordstrom to test out the gear. I think a lot of us, especially, especially busy moms, it's not that we have given up because that's what I think society thinks is like, oh, we just gave up and now we're just we're busy. We're just we're really busy. But I also know that what you said is true, where I became an entrepreneur early on in my motherhood journey.

30:38Actually, funny story. I manifested big little Feelings, our company, I manifested it on New Year's Eve before three months before we launched. And I had a candle. I didn't know how to manifest. I just like did it. I put on cinematic music. And then I just wrote down everything that I would have or that I would create or that I would help and then how it would make me feel if I got it. And that was crazy. That was crazy to think and crazy to do. And in no way did I ever think it was going to work. But I, you know, I pretended like it was going to work. I think that motherhood and mothers are natural entrepreneurs.

31:20I think that everyone listening right now, if they wanted to do something, there is no one more equipped than somebody who can get shit done, get it done in 10 seconds or less, do it amazingly. The amount of executive functioning and task switching and cutting through the bullshit and all of the noise. If you're listening right now and you're thinking you want to open a bakery or a therapy practice or go back to school or I know you can do it. And I think a lot of us don't even know where to start or we haven't even really were like, wait a minute, where do I want to be in two years? I don't know.

31:59Where do I want to be in three years? So what do you recommend for somebody who is feeling like, I know I want more. I feel a little bit stuck right now. Maybe I'm not, you know, suffering. I'm just kind of like, I'm just kind of stuck. I'm just apathetic. Where do they start to even kind of unpack or start to visualize what they may want? They might not even know what they want yet. Yeah. So I have a very simple two-step process and it really just condenses all of this work because personal development, achievement, success, transformation, it sounds so complicated, but really when you dial it down, it comes down to just these two steps.

32:41The first step is clarity. You must first get crystal clear on the woman you want to be, on your future self. And guess what? This future self, that's the most authentic you. That's the real you, the deep down you, who you already are. So it's actually more about unbecoming what you're not, you know? So the first step is clarity because you need to know where you're going before starting whatever action you want to take. You know, you need direction. So the first step is clarity and how to get clarity. I personally think that journaling is an incredible tool for that. I know sometimes it's time consuming, but it really just takes like an hour one morning or one afternoon on a Sunday to just sit down and brain dump on paper.

33:28Who do I want to be? Who is my favorite self, my future self, my best self? Who is she? And what does she have? And how does it feel to be her? Okay. So this is a very important one. How does it feel in your body to be your future self. That is the key. You can't just think it. You need to feel it because you need to get very familiar with this vibration, this feeling, this frequency inside of you. Right. And once you get crystal clear on who your future self is, your best self, your favorite self, however you want to call it, once you get that clarity, the next step is becoming. You must then be her now in everyday moments, whatever way that you know how, whether that is just putting away your phone in the morning and waking up a little bit earlier to have that 10 minute morning coffee outside while you're thinking about how beautiful life is, whether that is listening to a podcast or an activation or music that makes you feel a really great way, whether that is, you know, doing that cooking class you've always wanted to do or carving out time in your schedule to do something for you, being her now becoming in this moment, stop waiting to have what you want to be, who you want to be.

34:48It doesn't work that way. You know, why hate yourself to a life you love? It doesn't work that way. The best way that actually expedites you getting there is by being her now. Those three words, be her now, those words really changed my life. And whenever I feel off, I remember Mimi, it's simple. Stop overcomplicating it. Stop overthinking it. Just be her now. Something bad happened or that person pissed you off, whatever it is, just be her now. How would your future self act in this moment? How would your future self hold herself when you're in line for school pickup and you just have five minutes to spare?

35:27Would she be scrolling mindlessly on her phone or would she be feeling her body, feeling positive, feeling abundant, thinking good thoughts, thinking beautiful, confident thoughts about herself, being in a good mood? What decisions would she make? How would she treat herself? How would she treat her body? How would she speak to her children? How would she act? How would she live? How does it feel being her? Okay. So that is then the key because what happens when you get familiar with being her now is that you will notice that you begin to make the right choices with way more ease. It actually makes everything a lot easier because when you have the self image of someone who is happy and successful and balanced and healthy, then you naturally start to do those things that that person does.

36:19I've noticed this in my own life. I used to have, you know, a lot of negative thoughts around body image and food. And I always thought to myself, huh? Like, I wish I could have a healthy relationship with food while living in a body that I enjoy being in. Right. So, um, and then I had to condition myself. Okay. I intuitively eat. I have no restrictions, but I also feel really good and how I, you know, and I did that over a few years and now it's like a crazy transformation. So, and that that's in every area of your life. You can do that in physical, financial, mental, you know, spiritual, any social, any of the areas of your life, you can, you can transform, you can change, you can start enjoying deeply.

37:01Because you become that person. If you slowly, slowly be the future you, you will then become future you if you practice it enough. It becomes easy. Like it's not, I don't, I was never very consistent, you know? So back in the day, let's just keep using like health and fitness as an example. Back in the day, I would not move my body and I did not want to eat the healthy option. I was just like, why would I want that? You know, it doesn't feel, but, but I, I actually got to a point where I would prefer to do that now because it's just who I am. If you identify as the type of person that treats themselves in a certain way, you will feel weird if you do not do that thing that you quote, feel like you should do.

37:49Right. So it's all about your identity and this work kind of like, it's like the shortcut to getting there. and it creates actually, it creates these new neural pathways in your brain. When you start thinking these thoughts and flooding your brain with this new information, these new thoughts and beliefs, it's actually crazy. You know how cool our brains are. I like to use this analogy, all of our thoughts and the way that we think and our negative beliefs and all that in our brains, it's like this, you're walking down a paved road. Okay. You've walked this road before. It's very familiar. It's easy to walk down this road.

38:25And when you begin to transform, you actually, it's kind of uncomfortable at first, but then it gets kind of easy very quickly because you start taking this bunny trail, you know, just off to the side of the paved road, there's a forest, let's say, and then there's a little bunny trail. And then you're, you're going to take it once. It's going to be kind of uncomfortable and, you know, bend down when the branches come. But then very soon, if you keep choosing that bunny trail, it becomes its own trail, its own paved road at one point. And then if you keep taking that, that new road, then that old paved road, it will have cobwebs and, you know, trees have been grown there.

39:01You don't want to take that road anymore. It's easier now to take the new road. So it's really just, it's not as complicated and it's not as difficult actually, as most of us think. It's in those small daily moments where big change can happen. hmm I went to do you know about the Hoffman retreat it reminds me of something from the Hoffman retreat oh no I've never heard of it okay yeah I I went on a retreat it was phenomenal it has nothing to do with this it's not activation by any means it's more of like a healing your childhood um okay I have this phrase and it's be do have and that is because most people do it backwards where they say, I want to have a mansion.

39:45I want to be happy. I want to have a perfect relationship. I want kids who I feel connected to. I want a boat. I want a, you know, I want a safe house. I want this. I want that. I want this. And if I just do, do, do, do, do. So if I hit my whole to do list, if I do this, if I do that, if I do that, then I'll be happy. Then I'll be successful. Then I'll be at ease. Then I'll be at peace. And the whole concept is to switch it backwards. So first, be. So be happy. Be at ease. Be confident. Be whatever it is. Then you will have, I think it's the new have or you know what it is. Then you'll do the things necessary.

40:31I love this, by the way. I'm going to use this. yeah you should they said we can because they're all about like spreading the word and whatnot yeah you know so yeah so then you naturally when you are a person who is at ease and who is confident and who is passionate and who is all these things you naturally then do the things because you just you want to it's just natural for you to do all of the things and once you do the things then you get the mansion you get the relationship you have the family that you've always wanted so do it backwards be that person. It totally reminds me exactly what you're thinking of.

41:02That concept blew my mind for me, blew my mind because I am so guilty of doing the opposite. And it feels so hard. We're all just like hitting our heads against the wall, waiting to be happy until I get all of these things in the future. When it like and we're just stuck on this treadmill. So it's like, okay, do, do, do, do, do, do, because then I'll be happy. No, you're so spot on. It's crazy. I think the biggest motivation for success focused women like us, and this is from personal experience, the biggest motivation is knowing that if we just feel the feelings now, we actually get there faster.

41:44So just that fact alone, I think is the most motivational for us to feel the feelings now. and of course when you then start feeling the feelings and you're just in bliss but it is true that we punish ourselves because we think that we need to punish ourselves to get to where we want to be but it doesn't actually work that way the way it works is that we be her now you know and naturally we become a magnet to that future life that we desire and then in the process us. We're enjoying our one life, right? Why waste your one shot at life feeling crappy and down and shameful and guilty? Like that is not how I want to live my life.

42:29So, you know, just reminding ourselves as well. I think of our, our mortality. I know it's a little grim, but that really helped me. I think back in the day, remembering that life is quite short, you know, and we don't, tomorrow is not promised. And sometimes we need to remember that to really kick us into gear and to make us remember, you know what? I'm just going to start now. I'm going to start enjoying my life now. I'm going to start respecting myself enough right now to do what I know I want to do in my life. I'm going to start carving out these little moments. I'm going to stop distracting myself and numbing every opportunity I can.

43:06I want to start loving life again. I want to get that spark back, you know? And the beautiful thing is that it actually doesn't need to take a long time for you to get that spark back. So anyone listening that feels like they've lost their spark or that feels like they're kind of in this process of rediscovering themselves, just know that it actually can happen quite quickly. You know, just a week of like doing a few things that you really have been putting off and maybe deleting social media for the week, getting clear, maybe waking you up a little earlier and trying something that makes you feel good, you know, stretching or listening to an activation while you're getting ready or writing in a journal, whatever it is, like that kind of thing can really shift you quickly.

43:53And what do you think gets in the way? Like what I mean, my my instinct or my gut is, is it fear? Is it not enoughness? Like I feel a lot of people, myself included, are just like this could never happen for me or I could never work. Like they could never even, you know, imagine dreaming of the only reason I manifested or dreamed of the company I own now is because my best friend is my business partner and she is brilliant and she is a therapist and she is beautiful. And I was like, well, she can definitely do this. So I should I should say yes to this because now but I would have never, ever thought I could do this.

44:31It would have never happened. Is that correct? Like, what do you think holds most people back from starting or from believing, you know, the things that they want could happen and could come true. It's old negative thought patterns. That's it. And it is a self-image and a personality that you've just taken on that isn't actually you that is holding you back because our self-image, our personality, our confidence, our self-belief, that is all malleable. That is all something that you can learn. It is not something you're just born with. And I think we get into these patterns that are comfortable and it's sometimes a little difficult to change because it's like just getting out of our comfort zone, but you'll find a moment where you get a little bit of a reality check, whether it's listening to a certain podcast or hearing something or seeing something online that just sparks something inside of you in that moment.

45:26If you just take a little bit of action, you're going to start to take that bunny trail that we spoke about. So, So, you know, it doesn't have to be this. I'm mentioning this again because I used to think transformation happened on this big day and it would just happen all at once. It actually doesn't happen that way. It happens in these small kind of compounding moments. And then it can happen very quickly when you just kind of lean in. Right. So we doubt ourselves because of these negative thought patterns. We tell ourselves, oh, this can't happen to us. Why not? There's someone that started off in a way worse place than you that got to where you want to be.

45:59So why not you? That's crazy to think that it wouldn't be you. And also those beliefs of you being a victim and it can't happening to you because poor you, those beliefs are literally holding you back. Why do you want to subscribe to those? You got to change those beliefs and reprogram your mind by listening to things that make you feel different or writing in your journal, like repeating things that make you feel because repetition is everything. When you start to consume new content or do a new practice in repetition, that's actually a real good way to reprogram your brain. New neurons will start firing and wiring together when you start doing something new over and over again, right?

46:40So it's a belief thing. It's a self-image thing, and it is so changeable. It is so changeable.

46:50Besties, I know not all of you are like me, but holla if you feel me when I say I feel super uncomfortable in a room with strangers and there is no more uncomfortable of a room than a workout studio. I'm just saying, I'm saying it. That's why I prefer to work out at home and that's why I am a huge fan of Peloton. Me and Kristen, fun fact, got our first Peloton bike about 10 years ago and we absolutely love it. It's still here in our garage putting on miles. Well, I guess we're putting on the miles on the bike. We're both putting on miles. There's miles to be had. That's why I was so excited when I heard that Peloton is shaping the future of fitness with their brand new Peloton Cross Training Tread Plus powered by Peloton IQ.

47:36This is Peloton's most elevated equipment with real-time guidance and endless ways to move, either alone or with your favorite instructors. It's cross-training reimagined with features designed to make your workout more personal. And it's more personal because Peloton IQ tracks your progress and suggests weights that can challenge you so you can get stronger. The thing is, is when I work out at home, my biggest fear, I'm doing it wrong. I've got the form wrong. But that's where Peloton IQ comes in. The movement tracking camera allows Peloton IQ to count my reps and correct my form in real time.

48:10That way I don't have to guess if If I'm hitting my lats or my delts or my tris or all of it, I don't even know. I don't even know what those muscles are, but I know I'm probably doing it wrong. So that's why I'm so stoked to have this extra feature now so I can train safer, lift smarter, and make every rep count. Let yourself run, lift, sculpt, push, and go. Explore the new Peloton Cross Training Tread Plus at OnePeloton.com. Besties, I know this may be hard to believe, but I am not in my 20s anymore. And no, it's not because I'm coming to the realization that I'm probably not getting the call to let me know that I am going to be in the 2026 Olympic Games representing the United States of America.

50:18It's a pain in my knee. I've had it for about a month and it's pretty uncomfortable. In fact, it hurts right now while I'm talking. And I'm actually going to see my doctor next week to get it checked out. But one of the things that I'm wondering is if it's rheumatoid arthritis. I'm getting older and these are one of the things that happens. What I literally just found out today though is that rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease. Who knew? Not me because I would have been a very bad doctor. Anyways, I've talked to you about function health before and there are tests for over 100 biomarkers from hormones to toxins, markers of heart health, inflammation, and stress and they actually have testing for various autoimmune disorders as well.

51:00One of those is the rheumatoid factor. And lo and behold, I'm going to be checking that out because I like to have as much data about my body as possible. With Function Health, you can also get access to MRI and chest CT scans for an additional fee, and they're all tracked in one secure place over time. It almost feels like the best way to start, by the way, if you're feeling really intimidated, it's like first, maybe even just rewrite your own negative beliefs. Because I mean, it's just the instinctual response, like the backpack going through security, where it's like starting to notice good things, starting to say the words out loud.

52:21I forgot who said this. Is it Louise? I don't know. Some manifesting person that was like, just say everything is going my way. Just say that. Just say that throughout the day. Anytime something is you've got a parking spot, you're like, oh, things go my way. Like just start, you know, the I am worthy, you know, reframing that. I only have a few more minutes with you, which I'm very sad about. But then I'm just going to go hear your voice anyways on your app. But I also want to say and I'm curious if you've heard any stories with your with their people. I'm wondering what a profound impact this work must have on the next generation, because our talk, we always talk about a big little feelings that the way we talk to our children comes their inner voice.

53:07And most of us would actually never say the things we say to ourselves, to our children. We're very intentional, which is amazing. We're usually like, you can do anything. You are amazing. You are worthy. Nothing you could ever do could make me love you less. We want them to be resilient in frustrating situations. We teach our children to notice when good things happen. But what's hard is that then our children hear us in real life. And sometimes those don't match what we're teaching our children. And so how amazing would it be for our children to hear us say out loud, things are going my way today when you're sitting in traffic for our kids to say, wow, you know, whatever it is, what a profound gift for our children, because it's not just our voice that becomes their inner voice in talking to them.

53:56It's also us talking to ourselves. So if we're beating ourselves up, you know, God, I forgot the lunchbox again. I'm so stupid. And they hear that that becomes their inner voice. right? Yeah. So have you heard anything from the moms where they've slowly also been changing how they talk about life and themselves out loud and it has an impact on their kids? 100%. I've had so many stories every day. We get so many amazing user testimonials from, from our users. And so many moms say that they use activations in front of their kids, but I'm going to give you an example from actually one of my staff members.

54:39She is a mom to three young kids, and I love hearing how she uses activations. She was actually a user before I ever hired her and she's brilliant. So, um, she would often listen to them while she was breastfeeding and kind of when they were really young, but now that her kids are older, she loves to play these positive, more affirmation activations. Cause we have so many different types. We have some that are just affirmations and then others that are more guided, but but she loves to play like the calming, positive affirmations track while her kids are eating and getting ready for school. And she tells me that it impacts all of their energy.

55:15And she says it truly just sets the tone for their day. She also does the same before bed. She'll like put a calming or peaceful activation on over Bluetooth. And she also said that it helped so much and sort of subconsciously calming her kids and staying connected to herself. in a busy stage of life, you know, her health, her habits, her magnetism. She really feels like this is like, she's a super user. And I love that she works on the team because she's obviously so aligned. It's definitely something that she has noticed. And she'll always send like a little message in our Slack with like her kids listening to it.

55:54And, and, uh, she says it's really shifted like the entire household, actually, she'll just play it on to the speakers. And, and even if you're not listening to the words, it gets into your subconscious. It acts like a subliminal. It's really incredible. And then she's, we've had actually, I don't know if it was her or someone else that wrote in, but one of the moms that I spoke to said that her kids have just like started saying things that they'll hear in the, in the activation. Like there was one kid that I think it was something like in the car, what the activation wasn't even playing, but you know, it had played previously in previous days.

56:26And the kid was like, I feel really positive and magnetic today. Like I'm going to have a great day. And like, you know, it helps with their confidence, like playing it in the background. So it's helping you and your babes, you know? So I just think it's really sweet. So yes, like a hundred percent, you know, I I'm definitely thinking when I enter that stage of life, like how can we even create more content like for kids? So that's kind of in the projection of the next couple of years, but really now like the app, has, you know, no profanity or anything in it. So you can definitely play any of it in front of kids and it's inspiring and positive.

57:00I love that. That's amazing. I'm actually going to do that, especially the affirmation ones. That's a great idea. Those are just easy, you know, and there's more music. It's just affirmations, the music affirmation. So those are just easier to listen to. They're less like the intense guided, you know, walking activations. Those are a bit more like let's have a transformation happen. You know, we have so many different types, like there are over 700 activations in the app. So there's, there's literally something for every moment. Absolutely. Well, Mimi, thank you. I could talk to you all day. I really appreciate this conversation.

57:32I feel inspired. I'm going to go wind down and listen to your voice and, and bring myself back to life right now. That's what I'm going to do truly for the next seven minutes. I love that Kristen. You're, you're on fire. You are magnetic. And I just, I love how into this work you are. I feel like you're radiant. So I love it. Oh, well, I am sure this is not the last time we'll talk, by the way, because I would love to keep talking to you. Yeah, I would love that, too.

57:58Wow. I am walking away from this episode feeling like I can do this. I feel like I can do anything and I don't always feel that way. But Mimi just made me feel that way. And also, I swear their app, whenever I listen to it, which now at this point I do try to listen every day, some of them are only two minutes, some are like 20 minutes and I'll do it before bedtime. I feel like I just need to be reminded that I can do this. I feel so, I'll be very honest, bogged down by the day-to-day tasks. Like I really do have a pretty bad habit of just getting swept up in the to-do list and all the things that I'm not doing and all the things that I still have to do and just really these minute details.

58:50And I don't really anymore zoom out for this bigger picture. Like, what do I want? Where do I want to go? What do I want to feel like every day? And I'm feeling really inspired. I hope you're walking away feeling inspired too. I hope that you'll try activations, especially because you have a discount. This is not just me saying it. I really do do it now every day. And I'm kind of getting back into that mindset, which is so nice of feeling like I'm prioritizing myself a little bit and I'm walking towards, you know, exactly where I want to be, which is nice rather than kind of just being in survival mode every day.

59:35All right, besties. Don't forget just for us. There is a limited time offer, a massive discount activations.com slash feelings. Okay. If you want to try it and I don't know what I'm going to do. I guess I'm going to literally go and listen to one right now because I'm feeling like amped up. I'm feeling buzzed. I'm feeling energized. I'm ready to rock besties. All right, besties. Love you. I'll see you next week, babes.

1:00:31Thank you.
