I feel like the mother of reality television is here sitting in the flesh with us. We are in a studio about to sit down with her. Stassi Schroeder is here. I'm going to ask her everything I've ever wanted to ask her, y 'all. I'm going to ask her everything. Our guest today is Stassi Schroeder. Technically, Stassi Schroeder, Clark now, which, you know, makes sense. She's a married mom of two. So Stassi, you all know who she is, but I'll just give you a quick recap. She's a three times New York Times bestselling author, television personality, and host of the hit podcast Dossi with Tay and the Good, the Bad, and the Baby.
0:51Stassi Schroeder:You might know her from Vanderpump Rules, and she's returning to reality TV with Vanderpump Villa and her highly anticipated new series, which I am so stoked for, House of Stassi. We're so excited she's here. Welcome to After Bedtime, where the house is finally quiet, but the real noise begins. The thoughts, the questions, the wondering if you're doing any of this right. We're Kristen and Dina, child behavior experts, moms and co-founders of Big Little Feelings. and we're not here to give you more pressure or perfect parenting energy. Nope. We're here to tell the truth. The unfiltered, beautiful, brutal truth about what it means to raise kids and re-raise ourselves in the process.
1:33Stassi Schroeder:Because parenting isn't just about sleep schedules and snack hacks. It's about healing. It's about breaking cycles. It's about becoming the kind of adult you want your kids to grow up to be. This is the place where we say the quiet parts out loud and we're so glad that you're here. Christina yes this is the best day of my life I know are you ready to welcome our guests I'm so
1:55Big Little Feelings Hosts:ready Stassi you're here thank you and I just want to say like first thank you for having me here but thank you for the work that you guys do because you guys helped me when Hartford was going through a psycho phase you know what I mean so I appreciate you guys I remember the exact moment
2:12Stassi Schroeder:that my husband, because he's the one who kind of tracks who starts to follow us. And I remember the exact moment that he was like, you're going to shit yourself. Yeah. Stassi Schroeder followed you today. It was a while ago.
2:26Big Little Feelings Hosts:And it was a while ago.
2:27Stassi Schroeder:It was a big deal. I feel like it was three
2:30Big Little Feelings Hosts:years ago. Yeah.
2:31Stassi Schroeder:Big deal. It was like Oprah followed me.
2:33Big Little Feelings Hosts:That's really sweet. I am honored. Yeah. Oh, my God.
2:37Stassi Schroeder:You should be. You're our generation's Oprah. Did you know that? Okay, just wrap this up. That's all I needed to hear. Clip it. That's the clip. That's it. Welcome. Thank you. Hi. We are both big Bravo fans. So we've watched from the beginning. But not only have we watched from the beginning, but I think everybody who's listening to this has lived a parallel path as you. I'm just going to say that, right?
3:00Big Little Feelings Hosts:Because we're all of the same age and we've all gone through the same life phases at the same time. Yeah. We're all growing up together. Yeah.
3:10Stassi Schroeder:We all had like a toxic, crazy ex. I've had a lot. Found the beau and then had the kids. And now here we are. Yeah. Okay. So talk to me. This is my big main question for you. You seem very at peace right now. And I don't, you could just seem that way. But it's decades of watching you. You seem like you're just in your Stassi era. You seem like at peace, at ease.
3:36Big Little Feelings Hosts:I feel that way I I really do like of course my life is difficult at times and chaotic but I think it was during COVID that I recognized like because it's funny you say the word peace like when I and I wrote about this in my last book like during COVID in order to just kind of like survive mentally and emotionally I shifted my focus to feeling at peace and like doing things to feel peaceful and to like get to that place. And when I would focus on just like sounds like cringy and like my younger self would be like, what the fuck are you saying? But like being grateful for things and like the little things like, wow, my husband's bringing me my iced coffee in the morning when I wake up.
4:21Big Little Feelings Hosts:I'm so fucking grateful for that. And like doing things that made me feel peaceful. Like that's how I survived COVID.
4:28Stassi Schroeder:And you you were pregnant then, right? Either you're pregnant. I remember you were pregnant when you were writing the book. Yeah. Right. You said you like wrote it in your nursery while pregnant. And that was during COVID too. That was my second book. Yeah. Oh my God. You had a COVID baby too. I had two COVID babies. You had two COVID babies? I did back to back. Holy shit. It was a weird time.
4:46Big Little Feelings Hosts:I see. I loved being pregnant during COVID because there was no FOMO to be had. You know what I mean? If I would have seen everybody out there living their best lives and I'm just like pregnant and just like can't really leave my house. Like I'm like, great. We're all we all have to just like be in our house. And it also made me feel like I was accomplishing something. You know what I mean? Because it's like the ultimate thing to accomplish. Yeah. Making a baby. So I didn't feel like completely useless. I have an issue with like feeling useless. Like if I'm not like actively like working on something or doing something, I start like hating myself.
5:20Stassi Schroeder:And you wrote a book, too, when you were like when you were I was going to say you also, while making a baby, were writing a book.
5:27Big Little Feelings Hosts:Yeah, no, I have a I have a problem where it's like I my self-esteem lowers when I'm not doing something. Yeah. I need to get over that.
5:36Stassi Schroeder:That's something honestly I've been in therapy for for a long time. I have the same connection here.
5:41Big Little Feelings Hosts:Not another person pushing therapy on me.
5:43Stassi Schroeder:You're in the wrong room, girlfriend.
5:46Big Little Feelings Hosts:I just had so many bad experiences with therapy. Oh, that like I'm just like I and I like the therapists like they're lovely but I it's just every time I've done it it feels like I I'm somebody who wakes up happy every day and then like I go into therapy and they're like let's unpack something from when you were like nine and I'd like I'd rather not I would actually rather keep it buried I'm I've been living this way my whole life and it's like served me well like I don't need to like get mad at my parents for something that like I've already suppressed so far.
6:23Stassi Schroeder:Like you leave feeling worse. Yeah. Yeah. You're like, I don't want to do that. I don't want to.
6:27Big Little Feelings Hosts:Okay. We're going to go back to that. Reality TV is my therapy. I'm not joking. When I am filming a reality show, you are forced to have all the conversations. You are forced to talk about your feelings over and over again. You're forced to pick up the rug, take everything out and literally just work through it with your partner or your friends or your family or whatever over and over and over again. And that is my therapy.
6:52Stassi Schroeder:You're actually not wrong about that because also you get to be kind of your most heightened version, right? Like in real life, we would never be like screaming in an alleyway.
7:04Big Little Feelings Hosts:In real life, I'm tired. And like, if I like get annoyed with my husband or like my sister or something, I just sweep it under the rug and carry on the day. And like, if it's something that's like really been bothering me, I then have to wait till the kids go down to sleep and by the time the kids go down to sleep I'm like it's not even no we're not it's not worth it anymore and so it's never discussed right you
7:24Stassi Schroeder:know with reality tv you got to discuss it all direct conflict go right in head on Dina as a therapist are we getting some ideas here oh my god you're a therapist I'm so sorry I'm shit on therapy no it's okay I think you're unpacking a great idea we could get really creative if I'm taking a view on this everything I heard you say at the beginning I was like oh look at her rewiring her own brain doing all these gratitude exercises like so proud you're doing a lot of the things anyways you know okay okay but I have like more ideas I mean how do we start a therapy if somebody said I want you to walk in and pretend like you're on a bravo show you know into couples therapy like that could work for me that could in couples therapy I'm like trying to be my best off I'm trying to like say all the right things what if I just let it just said have you guys seen bravo yeah we're gonna try a new experimental therapy yeah that's right oh my gosh okay today was your little one's first day of preschool my son your second one my second my son's first day
8:21Big Little Feelings Hosts:of preschool yes it's so crazy and you know they just like love their backpacks and their knapsacks and then they'll just say like my backpack and my knapsack and it's just she doesn't let hartford touch it. And it's just like, it's very cute. And I took Hartford to school and Bo took him to school because we thought that Messer wasn't going to let one of us leave. And I was like, well, I have to come do that podcast. So like, I can't be the one I'm going to have to leave. And so Bo dropped him off for the first time. And he said he just walked in and was like, OK, bye. Good. Seamless.
8:57Stassi Schroeder:That's great. There's no worse feeling than being a working mom when you like walk away and they're screaming and biologically. Yeah. It's like going to war. No, I remember that with her bird.
9:07Big Little Feelings Hosts:It was awful. So didn't have to do that with my sister. He's happy to be there. Turns out he is a loner like me. We like our alone time. We're like, we need our independence. Leave me alone. Bye.
9:18Stassi Schroeder:I've been waiting for this moment. I've been home for too long.
9:20Big Little Feelings Hosts:Yeah. Bye, mom.
9:22Stassi Schroeder:Yeah. So talk to me about the transition from being hot mess early 20s like we all were, by the way.
9:29Big Little Feelings Hosts:I still have hot mess moments. They just look a little different. Duh. We all do.
9:34Stassi Schroeder:But I mean, like quintessential, you know, like you're on our TV screens. You are like you and the cast, not you. Yeah. No, just like out there like backhanding people and stuff.
9:44Big Little Feelings Hosts:I get it.
9:44Stassi Schroeder:The whole cast are like the quintessential hot mess. We're all in West Hollywood living our best lives. And then the best good times. Like, aren't we so glad we did that, by the way? Yes. So glad you did.
9:57Big Little Feelings Hosts:I loved Vanderpump Rules. I still love Vanderpump Rules. Like at times, was it traumatizing or hard? Absolutely. But like nothing great ever comes without hardship. You know what I mean? And I love that I have my 20s documented and, you know, it's just yeah. And it's afforded me so many awesome opportunities and it's like shaped me into like who I am. I love Vanderpump Rules. Yeah, good.
10:24Stassi Schroeder:I'm glad you don't regret it because I don't know that we could have gotten through it without it. And then you shift into motherhood, but it was kind of great timing, right? Because you had a little COVID break at home. Yes. Hard moment break there.

10:37Big Little Feelings Hosts:Yeah, not on Vanderpump Rules anymore.
10:40Stassi Schroeder:Not on Vanderpump Rules anymore. Asked to leave the show. Yeah. But that's the exact moment you also became a mom, right?
10:46Big Little Feelings Hosts:Well, I conceived Hartford in like April. I found out I was pregnant in May. and then got fired from Vanderpump Rules in June. And I was like, well, I again, that's when I like shifted my mindset. And I was like, let's focus on what we're grateful for. Like all I've ever wanted was to be a mom. Like that was before being on TV or writing books or like my career. Like I've always not trad wife mom. Like I'm not good at cooking or anything like that. I just I knew I wanted to be a mother. And like I shifted my focus to the fact that just like, oh my God, you are getting everything you want. Like you have this little baby.
11:21Big Little Feelings Hosts:Like, this is everything you want. Like, let's not focus on the negativity. Let's focus on moving forward. Let's focus on rebuilding and finding a new door to walk through and just like making something new. And then what happened?
11:36Stassi Schroeder:Like you had your little motherhood era. Yeah. And then and then was it Vanderpump Villa that kind of brought you back into that?
11:44Big Little Feelings Hosts:I wrote two books. Right, yes. I started my podcast again and then started one with Bo as well. And then I started pitching my show. I started working on it with two of my producer friends. And I started pitching it. And when I met with Hulu, we were like, you know, it would be great. A Vanderpump Villa crossover that would lead into my show. No way. Like the stars are aligned. Lisa's already on your streamer. And you're thinking of going to Italy. Well, my husband is also an Italian citizen. Perfect. And everything just like the stars aligned for me to like go on Vanderpump Villa. Oh, wow. That is wild.
12:26Stassi Schroeder:I didn't realize it kind of unfolded that way. Yeah. I didn't either. Yeah. Whoa. How is Vanderpump Villa having two kids like in the in the villa? Like I'm watching. I want to know everything.
12:38Big Little Feelings Hosts:This is the most fun experience. Like when I say this is like the cushiest job on reality TV. I get to go to Europe, bring my husband and our kids and have a vacay at a castle or an estate and just hang out and like meddle and see what like the gossip is going on. It's literally a dream. And none of the drama was yours, by the way.
13:05Stassi Schroeder:Exactly. Like I was watching this and I'm like.
13:07Big Little Feelings Hosts:Yeah. It's like I just get to like go in.
13:09Stassi Schroeder:You're like a judge on like a cooking show. on those.
13:12Big Little Feelings Hosts:It's so much fun. It really is so much fun. And having my kids there, like, they love it because they love Lisa. And there's also like kid things to do because Pandora brings her children. So like there's always like play stuff and everything. And they get to I love that I'm exposing my kids to other countries and they're seeing different cultures and trying different foods and all of that. And so it's like a huge win to be able to go. Can we manifest this for us?
13:36Stassi Schroeder:villa sorry i'm an lisa vanderpump i have an idea or honestly i'll just be your kids nannies like i'll just i'll just go i'll sleep outside yeah and we'll just watch that job yeah they'll be gonna walk out with so many emotional skills you know we could really pitch this i could do this really pitch this we'll be behind the scenes okay if you have been following along on social you will have seen. We went to a big party recently. That was a big deal. And I was obsessed with trying to make this like Greek goddess look happen. Y 'all, if you saw it, it happened. And I swear, yes, part of it was the dress, but part of it was my hair.
14:18Stassi Schroeder:I'm going to be really honest. That was my real hair. It looked full. It looked healthy. It looked radiant. And I have to say, I know you know what's coming. It's Nutrafol. The transformation my hair has taken after taking Nutrafol, it's amazing. Like why can't they have this solution but for everything that is wrong in my life? 17:18Big Little Feelings Hosts:July 29th. Two episodes on Freeform. All episodes drop on Hulu the next day. You can binge it. Woo woo. Bingeable show.
17:26Stassi Schroeder:I can't wait to binge it. Thank you for telling us where. Hulu. Hulu. Hulu. So this is going to be a national holiday for us. We'll all report back. And your mom is on it?
17:39Big Little Feelings Hosts:a little bit yeah a little bit your your family yeah my sister is a a huge part of it yeah so
17:46Stassi Schroeder:maybe you don't need therapy if you can do a show with your mom maybe you are okay just wait so you
17:50Big Little Feelings Hosts:see the scenes okay i want to hear your thoughts okay yeah i'm curious we have an interesting relationship yeah yeah there there's a there's a lot there i had said before we started filming i talked to my sister and i was like i don't want mom to film because like i don't you know if you've seen Vanderpump Rules, you've seen our relationship and it's a little contentious. And yeah, you know, and I like didn't want to do that again. But my mom wanted to film. Wow. So I could not deny her that. Wow. Yes. OK, I can't wait. OK, we're going to report back.
18:24Stassi Schroeder:Yeah. And do we see what evolves? This is what I was stuck on after Vanderpump Villa was Bo shared with you this really personal moment about how he feels like he needs his own identity.
18:40Big Little Feelings Hosts:Yeah.
18:40Stassi Schroeder:And I know, I mean, I think everyone loves Bo, right? I don't know. No, everyone loves Bo. Some people must out on social media, but I doubt it. Like everyone loves Bo.
18:49Big Little Feelings Hosts:Everyone has their like fair share amount of like people critiquing or, you know, critics. But like, you know, for the most part, everyone loves Bo. And in real life, everyone loves Bo. Like I'm, you know, in every relationship, there's like the one that everyone loves. Yeah. Yeah. And then there's the other one. I'm the other one. I'm the other one. Yeah. I'm the other one.
19:07Stassi Schroeder:You know, my husband's the other one. Oh, good for you. She gets to be really not for you.
19:14Big Little Feelings Hosts:Yeah. You're the one that everyone wants to be around. That's great. Yeah.
19:17Stassi Schroeder:I feel like Bo and my husband are very similar. And I think a lot of women who are successful or even just have a career, even if both have a career, they actually can really relate to that scene where Bo is like, I feel a little bit secondary. I need to have my own path. It used to be in casting or something like that. Do we see that on play out more? A lot. Okay.
19:40Big Little Feelings Hosts:Okay, good. A lot. It's so funny because before we started filming, for months and months, I was telling Bo, my friends, my family, not coaching them, but drilling it through their head that when we do this show, we are going to make the realest, most authentic, honest show there is. And like, you need to just like be honest about your feelings. There's no holding back. I don't even care if it's like, you know, against me. Like you just it needs to be real. And Bo really took that to heart for better or worse. He did it and went there. And I was like, oh, oh, we're doing this. And then we talk about then we break the fourth wall.
20:19Big Little Feelings Hosts:We break the fourth wall the whole entire season. Like the show is so unique. And it's like the format and the style is so different than anything I've seen. Like we acknowledge that we are shooting a show and what that does to relationships and friendships and stuff like that. So like there are moments where I'm like, oh, you're really doing this. You know what I mean? This is what we signed up for. You know, yes, Bo really takes it there. Oh, I love that, though.
20:44Stassi Schroeder:That's refreshing. And that's what
20:45Big Little Feelings Hosts:made it feel like therapy. Yeah. Because like we're really just mentioning it all, talking about
20:51Stassi Schroeder:at all and processing it and being honest and vulnerable that's it girl what else can we look forward to like tell me tell me like a sprinkle of something that's really exciting about the show
21:01Big Little Feelings Hosts:I just hope like you know that we are able to connect with people and have like everybody see themselves through us because I feel like we're such a well-rounded group everyone is so different and going through different things in their lives that there's just like something for everyone to relate to. Like my sister just went through a divorce and has like nothing to her name, lives out of her car in my house. Do you know what I mean? Like she is on a different path than I am. Like my best friend Taylor, she's married to our other best friend Taylor and they just had a baby. And like, there's just, there's something there for everyone.
21:43Big Little Feelings Hosts:and I hope that yeah people just like wow I see myself in this
21:48Stassi Schroeder:I sort of didn't know I didn't even piece together that Taylor the Taylors would be on your show yeah I had no idea they're yes
21:54Big Little Feelings Hosts:Taylor is like my best friend in the whole world so that's crazy
21:57Stassi Schroeder:also I went to college with Taylor which is a really Stracker that's wild yes with I played softball and she played she was like in the sports world so we were like very yeah I know it's a weird it's a weird crossover I have many Vanderpump rule era photos of just like shwasty face with that.
22:16Big Little Feelings Hosts:That is hilarious.
22:17Stassi Schroeder:Isn't it? I know. But I love them and I love their path to new motherhood. So you'll share their new, because they're two moms with a new baby. How fresh was that baby then?
22:30Big Little Feelings Hosts:We stopped filming right before the baby was born. So it's like the lead up, all those conversations. Cause you know, Taylor, it has not been her dream to be a mom. So it's like, it's really interesting to see that all play out oh i'm so excited i didn't know that they were
22:45Stassi Schroeder:yeah that and then a season two where you get to see the aftermath yeah no as someone who struggled
22:52Big Little Feelings Hosts:through postpartum every time yeah i'm sorry it really is so hard postpartum is so hard it's
22:58Stassi Schroeder:isolating it's just yeah yeah did you have any sort of big work commitments when you were postpartum
23:05Big Little Feelings Hosts:first time around now because I didn't have many jobs yeah stress yeah different yes different stress and then the second time I actually was scared to get pregnant again because I didn't want to feel isolated and I didn't want to feel like alone how I did you know with Hartford and then I was just like okay no but you want another baby so like you're gonna do this and then you're gonna work the whole time and so I like had Messer and I like went back to work after two weeks because I didn't want to. I was so scared of feeling that loneliness that like comes with just having your baby. I think that was a happy medium.
23:43Big Little Feelings Hosts:I could have like if I had a third, you know, take six weeks off. Yeah. Live your best baby mom life, you know. But yeah, I went back to work.
23:52Stassi Schroeder:I did the same to be fair with the second one. I cut my mat leave earlier. I was like, I just need to get back in. You want to feel like yourself. Yeah. I need to do what feels normal for a second. And I was like, Dina, we're good. Nothing's happening. I know. Nothing's happening. And two weeks like I need to come back. I get it. OK, we're going to come back. We're going to do this. Yeah. And found the flow by the third. Like you said. Yeah. Yeah. The third you took your whole mat. You know what? I'm going to take an extra extra couple of weeks. Yeah. You know, I think by your third you settle in.
24:23Stassi Schroeder:Yeah. How do you feel now in motherhood, especially? I mean, you really identify with your career, obviously, as we've learned. Yeah.
24:31Big Little Feelings Hosts:And then like my husband is like the main he's like the primary parent. Yeah. The kids ask him for things first. Like, wow. Yeah. Like he does all the drop offs, like lunches, like y 'all. He knows the appointments. If like something needs to happen for them, like he handles it. So he is my very parent. And I felt guilty about that for a while. I don't really anymore. I think I entered like a new stage stage of motherhood a couple months ago because I used to be scared to take both of them out at the same time without Bo. And I used to also dread the weekends. Like I Friday would roll around and I'd be like people being like TGIF.
25:12Big Little Feelings Hosts:Fuck you guys. This is where the real work starts because we don't have help or like, you know, anyone to take care of the kids and help us like on Saturday and Sunday. And so it's like we're in it. And then a couple of months ago, I realized that I started looking forward to the weekends and I was like, yeah, it's Friday. Yeah, we get to like plan things this weekend. And I think it's because my kids grew up a little. And I might just not be the best at the baby and toddler stage. But I love kid, the kid phase like I love I now I'm like, I can't wait for the weekend because I get to hang out with my kids.
25:49Big Little Feelings Hosts:Oh, and now I like love to take them out by myself. It's like, it's just so different. The baby stage was hard for me. It really overwhelms me.
25:57Stassi Schroeder:yeah i don't i mean we are actually both the same way so that and we're like literally parenting experts like it's just i think and it goes both ways some people they would have like 50 babies
26:08Big Little Feelings Hosts:i know and i hear people being like i love the babies i'm like of course there are parts of it i love the snuggles they're cute as fuck like you know but i'm bored like you know and i'm just like and there's so much in order to leave the house so you gotta take so much stuff so much stuff that I'm just like, it takes me 25 minutes to get in the car. Then I'm like, what's the point? I'd rather just stay home. Now, it's like, no, you guys don't even need your water cans. OK, we'll get a water when we get there. Just get in the car and let's go. And it's so much more enjoyable for me.
26:39Stassi Schroeder:Oh, that makes me so happy to hear. I feel the same way. And like, also just want to normalize on the weekends. It's OK to not want to spend like every single minute with your kids. Yeah, it's OK to want to be, by the way.
26:50Big Little Feelings Hosts:It's OK to want to be, have some break. Yeah.
26:53Stassi Schroeder:So, you know, yeah. I hate asking this question because, well, I actually always ask men this question, too, to be fair, of like, how do you balance it all? And how do you not feel guilty? But I always do want to ask every parent that comes on here, because even just selfishly, I always wonder this question. When somebody has a high profile career.
27:15Big Little Feelings Hosts:Well, something's always struggling. OK. So just know that. You feel that way.
27:19Stassi Schroeder:You feel that something is always. Yeah.
27:21Big Little Feelings Hosts:Like I don't really have like a social life. Yeah. I don't like I don't just like go out with friends. That's just not the phase of my life I'm in right now. I'm into working hard and then spending time with my family like that. Those are my priorities. So like if I go to an event or something, it's a work related event. Like it's all to like help the greater the greater good. So like I don't really have like a social life or a lot of friends, but I'm also like a tight knit group kind of like I only have my individual friend. You know what I mean? I'm not like a big social person. So you're good with that.
27:58Big Little Feelings Hosts:And I'm also yeah. And I'm also like not the best wife right now. You know what I mean? Like Bo has his complaints because I'm like, sorry, like there's a lot going on. Like you can't have it all. Like I wrote a book entitled You Can't Have It All. and like you can't like something is always suffering like you can have all the things but not like they're not all gonna be operating at a hundred percent you know at the same time no and like I do feel mom guilt sometimes like when I'm around other moms that are like doing the most I'm like god fuck off you know like and then I just have to like talk myself out of it like Like, yeah, the mom guilt happens a lot.
28:41Like the other day, Hartford asked me,
28:44Big Little Feelings Hosts:Mom, why do you just like sitting for a really long, long time? Seriously? I should be up playing with her more. She's like, because I was like sitting on the couch like all day on Sunday. You know what I mean? And I'm like that? Really? Well, also Hartford, I love sitting. Okay. Sitting is my favorite. I prefer to be sedentary. Yeah. Okay. Can you not? The laying.
29:07Stassi Schroeder:Kristen, I was going to say, Kristen wants to be laying. I would prefer to lay. Do you remember before we had kids? If you could have a chance to just lay for a moment or an hour or two, I would like to lay.
29:19Big Little Feelings Hosts:And I have been trying to do this recently. When I realized that I have time at home and like, oh, I don't have anything in this hour block, I will be like, you are going to go lay on your bed and you are going to allow yourself to have rest time, like get your energy tank filled up again. Scroll on TikTok. Yeah. Watch, you know, women make their husbands lunches. I love that. It's like one of my favorite things to watch right now. Really? What do you mean when they like pack the lunch bag for the day or something? Some of them are really gross and some of them are really gourmet and amazing. I'm like, I'm the full spectrum.
29:56Big Little Feelings Hosts:That is like my algorithm right now. And I'm obsessed. And it's like so crazy because it's like the opposite. I have never packed a lunch in my life. Not even for myself.
30:08Stassi Schroeder:Not for your kids, let alone your husband, let alone you. No one's getting a lunch. I've never
30:10Big Little Feelings Hosts:packed lunches. Like, but I love watching it.
30:15Stassi Schroeder:That's how I kind of feel about Treadwife stuff. And I have to be careful because I do love animals. So for a second, I'll get sucked in. I'm not an animal lover. Okay, so you're fine then. She sees the Highland cow and she's gone. Oh, God. Yeah. And the chicken, just all of it. But the rest of it, I'm like, I can't not relate to this at all. So it's so satisfying to watch it. Because it's probably, and now I'm going to be into lunches, whatever this is, because I don't do lunches or cooking either. It's really good. I get served those. I know what you're talking about. She cooks, though. You're a cooker.
30:45Stassi Schroeder:I packed a lunch this morning. That's right.
30:49Big Little Feelings Hosts:Is it like the likable ones or the ones that pack the lunches?
30:53Stassi Schroeder:I'm getting a pattern. Okay, interesting. Yes. Yeah. So motherhood with your career, do you find that it's helpful to your career right now where you're going? Like it's not at total odds and you feel...
31:10Big Little Feelings Hosts:No, it is the ultimate motivator too. too, because everything I'm doing is to pass on to them. It's like to give them as much of a head start as possible, because like, you know, there was a time I remember when like Hartford was born. I was like, am I going to put my kids on social media? Like and I still those thoughts still cross my mind all the time. But I'm like, they're on a reality show and they were born into this circus family, you know, and I'm I feel like I'm giving them a head start in a way. Nepotism. I'd love to. Nepo babies. I want to help them out. You know, like I think every parent wants to give their kids the most head start they they can.
31:56Big Little Feelings Hosts:And it's fun to like do this all together. So like to me, motherhood hasn't been a hindrance at all. But I've also never been like it's never been my brand to be like single hot girl do you know what i mean sort of i mean i feel like you were single i feel like i'm always in relationships i've always been in relationships i you know so like having kids really didn't change anything yeah for me yeah i don't i don't need to be single hot girl i'm like 38 i know so like true i think for the like
32:33Stassi Schroeder:Working tired girl. In the fans' eyes, it's like you changed a lot, like so much, but so did all of us. But I do think you were like the hot young thing. And, you know, now you're like the hot mom, though. So I guess it works out.
32:47Big Little Feelings Hosts:I was a hot young thing. Yeah.
32:49Stassi Schroeder:You were like the quintessential hot young thing.
32:51Big Little Feelings Hosts:Season one and two of Vanderpump Rules. Does that grow? Get it.
32:54Stassi Schroeder:Girl. Yes.
32:58Stassi Schroeder:I was thinking about this the other day because everyone's in back to school mode, including me. And it reminded me of one of my favorite childhood memories. Growing up, my mom and I used to go to Ross together all the time. And it wasn't just shopping. It felt like we were on a treasure hunt. Like you never know what you're going to find. And so we'd walk every aisle and we'd hold things up like, wait, is this cute? Wait, is this you? We'd laugh. We'd debate outfits. And somehow we'd always leave feeling like we found these little hidden gems. And looking back, I actually think that's where I started figuring out my style.
33:31Stassi Schroeder:because summer is kind of funny in that way. Like kids spend all summer growing, not just physically, but emotionally too. And they try new things and they make new friends and become a little braver. And by the time school starts, they're honestly like a different version of themselves. And I love that back to school shopping becomes this little milestone where they get to express who that new version of them is. And now I'm on the other side as a parent. And it's so fun watching my little guys just develop those personalities. One wants to wear the exact same thing every day because he loves his routine.
34:05Stassi Schroeder:Another changes his mind approximately every 14 seconds. And I'm just over here trying to keep everyone clothed. You know what I mean? And Ross is one of the places that I love because they have absolutely everything from back to school. And for everything this school year has in store, Ross has your style for it at 20 to 60 % off other retailers' prices. That way kids can explore what feels like them without it feeling like a huge commitment on our end. Find your nearest Ross at RossStores.com. One little thing about me. Hi, this is Dina. Cooking is honestly like my therapy. And I've realized that the tools that I use actually matter way more than I used to think.
34:46Stassi Schroeder:If something makes cooking harder or creates more clutter, I notice it immediately because I'm already juggling so much in my mental load. And one thing that has really improved my kitchen time, our place. I cannot recommend their cookware enough. It is beautiful. It is lightweight, especially compared to other non-toxic pans, and they are nonstick. Because at the end of the day, the last thing I want to do after bedtime is sit and scrub pots. I use their Always Pan, and it has honestly just replaced so many other pans that I used to have. I use it for breakfast and eggs and sauteing vegetables and weeknight dinners.
35:22Stassi Schroeder:It is the pan that I reach for over and over again because everything cooks beautifully. Cleanup is so easy and I love that it does not just take over my kitchen because here's the thing. It's so functional. Yes, it's beautiful. I leave it out on the countertop, but their cookware is made without forever chemicals since day one and it's third party tested to meet global safety standards, which for me is number one. You may not realize it, but a lot of nonstick pans are accidentally leaching forever chemicals into the food. So if you're looking to upgrade your kitchen, visit fromourplace.com slash BLF and use code BLF for 10 % off site-wide.
36:02Stassi Schroeder:That's F-R-O-M-O-U-R-P-L-A-C-E dot com slash BLF and use code BLF for 10 % off site-wide. And with a 100-day trial, you can try it completely risk-free. speaking of hot thing this just popped into my mind the algorithm with you on sports illustrated
36:26Big Little Feelings Hosts:yeah crazy that was crazy it is it is it's so wild it is actually one of my favorite things i've done it two years now and it's one of my favorite things to do because all of the girls there are the opposite of what you would think like you think runway walking down the runway and like swimsuit models that it would just there'd be like a cattiness, a hierarchy or just whatever. It's so not like that. Everyone wants to help each other. Everyone is like there to hype each other up. And you feel so welcome that like it's just and I felt really empowered. Like I felt really empowered being like I've had two kids, you know, in my late 30s.
37:06Big Little Feelings Hosts:And yeah, I can do this. like I like rewire my brain for a second and like switch into like a different I like convince myself I'm somebody else and then like walk out on that stage and then I come back and I'm like back to being mean I'm like holy fuck you did that like you did that it's really cool I love
37:24Stassi Schroeder:the sports illustrated team yeah I mean I'm doing that as a mom I love that there were also all different kinds of body types to there yeah and ages and yeah it was amazing to watch and yeah so I think did you your kids you showed your kids and they weren't there but like I take them I
37:40Big Little Feelings Hosts:I took them both years. I make it like a family affair and we like, you know, rent the same house and have fun together. And Hartford came to rehearsals last year. And so like now whenever I bring up Miami, she's like, oh, where you were working. And so she thinks my job is like walking down the runway. And I'm like, let's let her think that for a little while. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. That was really fun.
38:02Stassi Schroeder:And Bo was so proud of you.
38:03Big Little Feelings Hosts:Yeah, obviously. I mean, he has like a hot wife walking down the runway. That's right. Yeah, it's a dream for him.
38:10Stassi Schroeder:Like, that's why he gets to, you know, pack the lunches and pick up. Yeah, that's right. You pumped out two kids and you're a Sports Illustrated model. So like he can take care of. Yeah. How is everything going with though?
38:23Big Little Feelings Hosts:Great. I mean, you're going to see a lot go down. So like at the end, you might be like, the finale is crazy. It's crazy. But we like I said, this whole show was one big therapy feeling. and so we were forced to like constantly talk about our issues and thing you know things that you know any marriage was going through especially with two young kids I really thought it was important to like let it all out there because it's like every other mom that I talk to that has young kids they're going through shit in their relationship like they are like it's just really hard to feel sexy and want to like you know date your husband it's hard because like your energy is just like fucking depleted by the end of the day and like that's like we really talk
39:10Stassi Schroeder:about that a lot good I think everybody listening will relate to that I mean 100 % I mean I almost separated like I got divorced when my kids were little because it's just we became like roommates raising kids together and then we're resentful it's a whole thing it's hard with little kids
39:27Big Little Feelings Hosts:you'll see on this show Bo is the one I feel like normally it's like the girl the the mom who becomes a little resentful and all of that both felt that way like I was waking up normal and chipper and going to sleep oh it's like my life's so great and so he's been the one to be like some things need to like shift yeah because it's all falling on him and like
39:54Stassi Schroeder:you need to share some of the not no is that why no not not that not yeah yeah like no I think I
40:01Big Little Feelings Hosts:I just, we have to actively work on our marriage. Like I need to pay attention to it.
40:07Stassi Schroeder:They're very similar. It's very similar. I'm like, I'm great. We're like, we're really. Yeah, I'm like, I have a great career. We're doing it. Like I'll see you in 10 years, dude. My dude, I see you every day. Give you a kiss.
40:17Big Little Feelings Hosts:We have such a great house, home. Our kids are awesome. We do fun things. What are you complaining about? We're going to connect in 10 years. And I'm the other one.
40:26Stassi Schroeder:He's like, we've fallen apart. We are not connected anymore. Yeah, that's interesting. Okay, we're gonna do a little rapid fire before we let you go. What is the biggest unpopular opinion you have right now?
40:39Big Little Feelings Hosts:The biggest unpopular opinion? Hmm. Oh, that maybe like Taylor and Travis's wedding was perfect for them.
40:46Stassi Schroeder:Is that an unpopular opinion? Yeah. People are just like ripping it apart.
40:51Big Little Feelings Hosts:And I'm like, I don't know, seems pretty perfect for me at this like place that like she's performed at sports like goes down they get to make it anything they want have like a trillion people there why not have the biggest wedding why not if you're like the biggest superstar why not just like go out and be like yeah oh i'll invite brad pitt see if he comes yeah you know i just shoot my shot yeah i just shoot my time i loved it i thought the same thing literally in the shower
41:19Stassi Schroeder:this morning where i was like wait this actually makes me feel really good about her and where she probably is mentally because I think if I were Taylor Swift, I would want to have no one at my wedding. I would be like, there's too much exposure. I need to hide. And this is like, wait, she must really love performing. She must love a big venue. She must love like the lavishness. I think she likes being watched. Yeah, she loves it all. Did it all for her. OK. Yep. Agree. OK. What is a luxury that you'll never stop spending money on? Nice hotels.
41:51Big Little Feelings Hosts:I firmly believe like, you know, there are people who are like the hotel is just to sleep. Not me. No, not me. No, I am a room service girl. I spend a lot of time in my hotel rooms. And I always say, like, if the hotel isn't as nice as my house, then I'm not going because my environment is very important to me. I don't know if it's like my cancer son. It probably is. But like my environment, it like shapes my day. yeah same so i have to have nice hotels with you current pop culture rabbit hole current pop culture rabbit hole i mean the mormon wives are still acting up right now did you see that oh they're all over the place right now when he just posted about like that you know moms created mom talk uh and so like taylor frankie paul is now yeah yeah taylor's coming back i will never like Their drama never ends and I eat it up every single time.
42:52Big Little Feelings Hosts:Same. Nice one, Hulu.
42:54Stassi Schroeder:Ask me mine, but it's not about me. Is Max Verstappen going to leave Formula One? I don't. She loves Formula One racing. Respectfully, no one cares. That's your version of Secret Lives of Mormon 1. We sometimes watch it, though. And do you ever think of getting like really long extensions and like crazy lip fill? Does it do that to you? To make yourself look like a Utah person?
43:21Big Little Feelings Hosts:I have never felt that way. I have a strong sense of self, I think, and in my style. You want to look like you. I want to look like me. Hot twist.
43:28Stassi Schroeder:We're the ones who need therapy. Yeah. Hot twist. Every time Dina will just text me like, do I need lip filler? And I'm like, are you watching The Secret Lives of Mormon?
43:39Big Little Feelings Hosts:You guys with the lip filler and sometimes, you know, yeah, do what you want to your faces. And I have done lip filler before. It did not look good on me. OK, I looked like a clown. I just think we're all morphing into each other. You know what I mean? Like everyone kind of is looking the same. Yeah. And I think there's going to be a time like there's like all these trends in beauty like 10 years from now, like little lips are going to be in again, I bet. Do you know what I mean? Like it's just you never know. So like, I mean, I feel like a hypocrite right now because I have a chin implant.
44:13Stassi Schroeder:It looks beautiful.
44:14Big Little Feelings Hosts:It looks great. It's like the best. Got it when I was 17. Did you really? It was my high school graduation present. I asked for it. My parents didn't gift it to me. Like, that would be crazy. Yeah. Then we could talk about that in therapy. In therapy.
44:30Stassi Schroeder:We're understanding now. No, I like begged for that. Yeah, that was my graduation present. Maybe we all never go back, though, to the thin eyebrows. Like, let's just probably will. Yeah. OK, I just don't want to do that.
44:41Big Little Feelings Hosts:I hope that I will laminate my brows until the day I die. I feel like it makes me look so much younger. Yeah. Like it just like lifts my eyes up. I love a brow.
44:51Stassi Schroeder:I love a brow. You've been really vocal actually about your Botox, though, because I just remembered. Right. You do like you. I don't know if you still do this. I do a lot of. I'm remembering a reel or something that you posted where it was like in your your traps and you're under your thing, like all of them.
45:05Big Little Feelings Hosts:Oh, yeah. And we even feel there's a scene where in House of Stassi where I'm getting that done. Yes. Botox all right here. Okay. Then I go like this. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. And I get it down here and then like right here and then I get it here.
45:22Stassi Schroeder:That's the one that I saw with you where I was like, I'm a big fan of Botox. Okay, great. I love that. Let's go to the next one. Last thing that made you laugh so hard you cried.
45:32Big Little Feelings Hosts:I don't know. Probably something Messer did because my son is turning into like, I feel like he'll be a class clown his timing you know what i mean but then like i'll laugh really hard and so then he repeats it over and over and over and over again because he's like oh saying that word is what gets me the laugh but he is very funny oh that's cute and what is one thing fans would genuinely be surprised to learn about you that's so hard because like i really like let it all out there i think that I'm really polite. I think people, when they meet me in person, they expect me to be like abrasive or maybe like rude or bitchy because people do come up to me like, you're the ultimate bitch.
46:13Big Little Feelings Hosts:And I'm like, I'm actually like, I'm, I'm from New Orleans. I'm very polite. Like I'm and sweet and I have manners. And I just like, don't think people expect that when they meet me.
46:24Stassi Schroeder:Right.
46:25Big Little Feelings Hosts:You know right yeah and i'm quiet like in a group i'm not really the one to like be doing the talking
46:33Stassi Schroeder:that is surprising yeah actually yeah that is surprising kind of like because i do it so much
46:38Big Little Feelings Hosts:for a living that i'm like now i can relax yeah i know you're gonna step back and watch and let
46:42Stassi Schroeder:everybody else yeah like me show that is your go-to okay listen up everyone what i'm gonna say
46:51Big Little Feelings Hosts:you're going to take this very seriously. I want you to get out your notes app on your phone or grab a pen and paper. All right. July 29th on Freeform. House of Stassi. Two episodes drop July 30th on Hulu. Every episode drops so you can binge that shit in one day. It's going to be great.
47:12Stassi Schroeder:It's going to be great. There's going to be a national holiday at Big Little Feelings. We're going to binge it on the 30th. I'm going to just wait. We're going to binge it on the 30th. And then we're going to report back.
47:21Big Little Feelings Hosts:Please do a whole episode on it. Even if you're like that fucking Stassi, I can't believe. We probably will. I can't believe she was on our podcast. Fuck her. I don't care. I have thick skin. I can handle it. I can handle criticism.
47:34Stassi Schroeder:We're just we'll say whatever we need to say. OK. OK, we'll do it. So tune in probably the next episode in August. The first episode in August. Yeah. Our catch up will be about House of Stassi. I'm very excited for this. I have to force Mike to watch every show like this. Yeah. I think he's going to love this one. From everything you said, I think he's going to be down. Once I get him started. Stassi, thank you for being here. Of course, thank you, guys. You're a queen. We love you. Yeah. This was great. Thanks.

BESTIES. STASSI SCHROEDER IS HERE.
The woman. The icon. The mother of reality television. The person many of us have watched, quoted, defended, occasionally screamed at through our televisions, and essentially grown up alongside is sitting down with us for one of our biggest episodes ever.
And she tells us EVERYTHING.
In this exclusive conversation, Stassi takes us behind the scenes of her highly anticipated new show, House of Stassi, including what really happens between her and Beau, why filming became the most effective form of therapy she has ever had, and the finale she says is absolutely insane.
She opens up about rebuilding her entire life after leaving Vanderpump Rules, the unexpected way her reality television comeback came together, filming with her mom despite their deeply complicated history, and why Beau took her request for “complete honesty” on camera much further than she anticipated.
We also talk about the side of motherhood people rarely admit out loud: dreading the weekends, feeling bored during the baby stage, going back to work two weeks postpartum because she was terrified of feeling isolated again, and the guilt she carried when Beau became the primary parent.
Plus: her Sports Illustrated runway era, the cosmetic procedure she got at 17, the beauty trend she refuses to participate in, her current Bravo-adjacent obsession, and the surprising truth about what Stassi is actually like when the cameras stop rolling.
This is Stassi at her funniest, most honest, and most unfiltered, and she gives us an exclusive look at the marriage, family dynamics, friendships, and behind-the-scenes reality TV moments everyone is about to be talking about.
