In short

Anthropic’s Claude is merging its separate memory across Claude Chat and Claude “Cowork” so projects don’t reset when you switch devices or apps; discussion also covers ChatGPT “Work” growth and pricing.

Guest backgrounds

Hosts are Lady Luck and Jaden (no further credentials given in transcript).

Key claims

Claude’s memory will be unified across modes (chat/cowork/code/mobile) instead of disconnected histories. Claude can avoid unwanted recollection via “sensitive categories” toggles (health, race, religion, politics, gender). ChatGPT Work already has connected projects and better long-running task performance; it hit 20M users. OpenAI cut Luna model API prices 80% permanently. $20/month Work tier includes access.

Notable examples

Claude previously remembered unwanted details (itchy rash leading to skateboard elbow pad advice). ChatGPT Work example: generating 300,000 directory descriptions over ~26 hours.

Today, we have some news out of Anthropic. that they are now merging Claude and Claude Cowork, the memory at least, so you don't have to bounce back and forth between chats. It just remembers everything, which is super handy.

1:15So we're going to talk about that today and how maybe you could use it. Also, we're going to talk about ChatGPT and their user growth as well. So before we get into that, I wanted to chat for a minute about our school community called AI Hustle. If you have not checked it out yet, you really need to. We just crossed over 1 ,000 members. So we're growing very fast. Each week we release bonus content over there, breaking down exact strategies of how we're growing our businesses and starting new ones using AI. So we'd love to have you be a member. There's a free tier where you can get access to the community and a few bonus episodes.

1:54But then we have a whole vault of content as well that breaks down a lot of these strategies. So I definitely go check that out. But Jaden, what news have you heard out of Anthropic and Cloud this week? OK, so yes, like you mentioned, the bane of my existence for a very long time has been the fact that all of the memory across all of the different Cloud like services. So they have like regular chat and then they have Cloud Cowork and then they have Cloud Code and all of them are completely disconnected. And then they have mobile. So like I'll literally be working on something in Cloud Cowork on my computer and then I'll leave the house, go do something.

2:30and I'll pull up my phone and they have like a Claude co-work on your phone on the mobile app now. But it was like completely separate. So like none of the old history from all my other chats were saved on there or remembered. Anyways, and it's super annoying because you basically would have to restart a project and I would just wait till I got home. So productivity low. That is no bueno. So I'm super excited about this. They're able to start merging it all together. I think we'll get to a point. Honestly, I think we'll get to a point where like co-work chat and like code are all just like the same thing it's just clod you just talk to it and you just tell it like go work on this coding project or you have like a folder for the coding project so i i really see the lines blurring between all of those but i'm really excited that it has done this and something else that i'm really excited about is as far as the memory goes um something i don't know like jamie do you ever get it where like either chat should be your clod where you're talking to it and it will remember something you didn't want it to remember uh yes occasionally yes there's there's yes that's all i'll say yeah you'll be like what like what's this itchy rash on my elbow and then like two months later you're like what's the best type of elbow pad for skateboards and it's like well because you have an itchy rash on your elbow like you should get this kind of elbow i'm like whoa whoa like where get rid of that out of this out of your memory um so that's a problem with chad gpt inside of clod they actually created a solution for that.

3:57They said sensitive categories, which are health, race, religion, politics, gender are included in what is called sensitive topics. And you can actually toggle those off. So if you don't want it to remember random stuff about your health or your random stuff about your politics or whatever, you can toggle all of that off and Claude's not going to remember it. I think a lot of people are going to be excited about that, to be honest. Yeah, I mean, I would say especially like, I think sometimes you would want to have a, you know, a response that's catered to you personally and your beliefs. But if you're, you know, creating a, let's say you're creating a product and you don't want it to have biases, you don't, you wouldn't want to accidentally integrate all your like, your personal beliefs into like a product you're trying to sell potentially, you know, that could be a good example of it.

4:48But yeah, I think that's a good idea as well. But I want to talk about ChatGPT work because I know that has been a topic on our podcast as well recently. That's basically OpenAI's version of Co-Work. And I believe they've been, since the beginning, been able to, haven't you been able to toggle back and forth between, you know, on mobile and also a chat? Yeah, they do a lot better job of just making it all kind of, it's already connected, yeah. So is this, would you say it's like a response to that? Or is it just they've needed to do it for a long time and finally did? I have no idea if it's a response to all the people begging them to fix it or if they're just copying ChatGPT.

5:31I mean, ChatGPT and Anthropic are so closely tied together. It feels like they're constantly copying each other's features. They're basically the same thing at this point. I don't know if you've gone and tried both of them. Do you have one that you use more than the other? Have you tried both? I'm still Claude. I've never I haven't unless I'm doing like image generation, then I'll go over to chat GPT. But I'm mostly in Claude and it feels like a lot of work to switch. Although a couple of months ago, you almost convinced me to. I know. Well, yeah. So there's like pros and cons. I had a whole episode I made this morning on my podcast.

6:08I chat about like all the different pros and cons between the two models. But at the end of the day, I think chat GPT work is doing a great job. They're really trying to compete. So they're very similar. I guess my TLDR is like if you use one more than the other, it's not worth switching right now. Like neither of them are way better than the other. Both of them do have like little perks. I personally have$100 a month chat GPT plan and a$200 or no. Sorry, switch that. $200 a month chat GPT plan and$100 a month Claude plan. They just do a couple little things differently. The MCP connectors work better on Claude.

6:41But I think the logic reasoning and like getting really long projects works a little bit better on ChatGPT. So I'm really impressed. ChatGPT just announced that they hit 20 million users on ChatGPT work. They were the ones behind. Like, Cowork came out and really started smoking them for a while. So they've been trying to catch up to that. And I think one of the big things that I love that they've done is they just cut the API price on their Luna model 80%. They said that's a permanent price cut. So if it's like not something that's super intensive as far as like reasoning and logic goes, you can get it done for basically free super super cheap which is not something i get with claude i burn my tokens way too fast on claude and what about speed though too do you feel like i feel like claude is maybe a slower or am i am i okay yeah especially if you're using fable 5 you're gonna be yeah it's like watching uh paint dry with fable 5 but to be fair like chat gbt has like their quote-unquote most advanced model.

7:42And that one does take a long time. If you're like, you know, you can you make it think for as long as it wants and it will take a long time. So I kind of use them for different things. If I'm about to like go somewhere like I'm like, oh, shoot, I got to run to Costco. I'll be back in two hours. I'll try to think of like my hardest project that needs to be done the most perfect. And I'll just crank it up to be like, look, this is going to be Maxis out, give it as much time to think as possible, make it perfect. And then I'll give it that project and leave. And then I find that it does a better job.

8:14And if you want some of those long running tasks, Chai Shipt is better at it. I have one task in particular that like I started the other day and it had to write 300 ,000 descriptions for a directory. And I came back the next day and it's like, it's been running for 26 hours. And it was just still going through patches of these directory things. And that is not something I've ever seen on Cloud. That's crazy. That's awesome. Are you on the max tier of ChatGPT? Yeah. Okay. Actually, so one other cool thing that I will mention that ChatGPT just rolled out with their ChatGPT work is that the$20 a month tier has it.

8:54And Claude has actually already been doing that with Cowork. You could get Cowork for$20 a month. And I think that's genius. ChatGPT for a while was making it so you had to pay only like the$100 or$200 a month plan qualified to get access to work. It doesn't make sense because they basically are making their money to get you to upgrade and they can get you to upgrade from usage, right? So if you pay 20 bucks a month, you're not going to get that much usage and they'll be like, oh, look, you're out of usage. Wait like four hours before we can respond again. And so then you're just going to upgrade if you're like a heavy user.

9:26So I think it makes a lot of sense. Just include it in the cheaper package. So$20 a month, you can get both co-work on Claude or ChatGPT work on ChatGPT. Okay, gotcha. That makes sense. Yeah, so if you're working on projects, you have the option between using Claude or ChatGPT. And as Jaden has kind of alluded to, if you didn't know this quick fact, but you can work on the same projects with both of them because generally they work off files on your computer, if you're coding, that is. Is that correct? Yeah, actually, no, with any projects. So they're interchangeable, and ChatGPT did a good job making it work that way.

10:05So basically when you're working with ChatGPT or with Cloud Cowork, it makes like a folder on your computer, which I think it's actually called like Cloud. It makes like a folder called Cloud Projects and then you go in there and it's like all of your different projects. But once you get, if you get the ChatGPT app, it just says like, what project do you want to work on? And you can literally just go click into a Cloud Project and it will just work out of that. All of the files that are in there, it can read them and look at them. So all of the context of everything you've been working on that Cloud has been saving, ChatGPT can also read.

10:33So it's like, it's really nice. You can, there's no vendor lock in basically on the data. Um, and you could just switch between models. What about a, what about an MCP like connector? Are those essentially the same two or cause I, you know, this is a long time ago now, but originally there was only certain connectors that worked with chat UBT and certain ones that worked with Claude. Are those interchangeable as well? Connectors are, but I'm going to be honest and maybe they fixed it. Maybe I just had a bug. But the reason I switched my clod back on was because I had the meta ads MCP on there.

11:09So it was like helping me optimize my meta ads campaigns. And I tried to set it up on chat GPT and it kept like saying that there was errors and it was unable to do it. And so I was like, okay, forget this. And I just jumped back on clod. So technically you should be able to set up a custom MCP connection on like both of them. It shouldn't really change it. but I've had some problems or at least when I started, I had a couple of problems on chat. Maybe they fixed it. I don't know. Maybe I got a bug, but that's like, yeah, that's one thing where I felt like Claude was a bit stronger at. Okay, cool.
