In short
Wayne Lineker recounts his life from Leicester markets and football to building the nightclub/bar empire behind Ocean Beach (Ibiza) and other venues, plus his 7.5-month prison sentence for tax-related charges. He also discusses Ocean’s culture, security approach, celebrity guests, and his relationship with alcohol.
Guest backgrounds
Wayne Lineker is a Leicester-born entrepreneur and bar owner. He grew up with his brother Gary Lineker (England football star). Wayne ran pubs from the late 1980s, later expanding across Spain and Ibiza; Ocean Beach opened in 2012. He says he stopped drinking heavily after a severe drunken incident around age 17 and later learned to “control it.”
Key claims
Ocean’s success comes from a sociable, low-aggression door policy (“within reason” dancing on tables) and “sober money” crowds. He says he’s an alcoholic but manages it better now. He claims Ocean is uniquely “magical” and “will never be beat.”
Notable examples
Market work from age 12; a bar vision triggered by seeing “three round windows” in Patch; Ocean capacity around 1,400; partners include Wayne, his son Freddie, Tony Truman, Tony Worldjet, and Maxie. Celebrity stories include Ed Sheeran (singing “Sweet Caroline” and crowd-surfing), Conor McGregor, Jack Grealish, and Dean Gaffney. Prison: sentenced on his 44th birthday, 7.5 months in Brixton/Decaf for about £80k tax, later overturned on appeal.

1:58Boomer on. And today's guest we've got Wayne Lineker. How are you, son? James. It's a pleasure. A top shagger, mate. How's it, boy? That's what the Scottish call me, innit? Yeah. Wayne, you're some man. You're a top shagger. How do you feel with that reputation when people say that shit? Do you kind of cringe or do you laugh it off? I said, don't believe the hype, man. Yeah. You know what I mean? It's like, yeah, I mean, I get it. The lads said, no. They're just on holiday in the beach. They just want a good time. and they don't want to be disappointed do they? So I go yeah of course I but I'm not really Everybody knows who you are Ocean Beach you've ran pubs like 1988 was the first one Lineker's but before we get into everything I always go back to the start for my guests get a bit of understanding about you where you grew up how it all began Yeah just a local Leicester boy just me and my brother grew up in a normal house on a normal road my dad was actually the first person to have a call of TV on the street.
2:57I've had that, isn't it? Used to get crowds of people around the house saying, look at this, call of TV. I'm like thinking I'm the king. But yeah, it's true that. But yeah, my dad, bless him, he's gone now, but he taught me everything I knew. He had me on the markets at 12 years old, weekends, straight from school Friday, then Saturday. I worked every week selling fruit and veg come on girls get your gums around me plums nothing's changed bro but yeah it was an education how well were you at school? terrible I left school at 14 because back then you could well you couldn't really but you could if you got me my dad said come on school's no good for you I was useless didn't want to do it just prattling around I just want to be one of the boys.
3:55The only reason I went to school was, or I enjoyed school, was for the football side of things because I used to play a lot of football and cricket. I played for Leicestershire boys. It's football and cricket. That's the only thing I enjoyed, really. But, yeah, I'm not a great advertisement for school. How was it? What's the age difference between you and Gary? 18 months. He's obviously older. So when he was His football career See when that started off Was there pressure on your life then? Back then? Not really At that time Everyone thought it was me That was going to make it And not him And And then when He started progressing He had the dedication The commitment He had everything You know what I mean I had nothing I just had skill He actually wrote in his book That my brother's got more skill In his little toe Than I had in my whole body which is probably true but what he had was pace like no other man on the planet um but yeah and it just wasn't for me again I just want to be out with the glads you know having a good time I wasn't drinking but I never had a drink till I was 30 but um but yeah I was just happy go lucky kind of kid doing it and I just wanted to I just love my job I work 16 hours a day six days a week By the time I was 15, I had my own business by the time I was 15.
5:25My dad gave me my own stalls. By the time I was 16, I had 20 or 30 people working for me. But I look back now and I think, that's pretty cool, you know. But I didn't realise it at the time. But yeah, and I stuck it out in the markets till I was 26. And the supermarkets started opening. Your Asda's, your Sainsbury's, your Tesco's. Because back then it was just corner shops, that was it. and yeah and they started selling fruit and veg and one-stop shops killed the market because everyone used to go to this town centre for the fruit and veg and it just took a massive dip and I'm like whoa what can I do I know I can't this is not my future I wasn't enjoying it anymore I see bigger gaps in the markets you know it used to be packed every week was getting less and less I thought I've got to get out of this Fortunately my brother was huge at that point and started to really go up the ranks and play for England and I thought I've got a good second name here let's use it and that's what I did and at the time my parents my wife at the time parents lived in Tenerife and we used to visit a lot I thought I need to I want to move there then I moved there and yeah it took me a while I had 40 grand I sold my house sold my business sold everything I had 40 grand in my pocket before I'm gonna I'm gonna go and open the bar and I'm gonna call it Linnecurs and it took a long time a long time to to make fruition shall we say it was really funny story because I said to my dad I said dad this ain't for me I made a big mistake I think I need to come back." And he's like, no, no, no, stick it out, stick it out.
7:23I was there four months, five months, nothing. No, I couldn't find a bar, I couldn't find anything that I liked. But I've said this story before, but previous to that, about three months before I left to go to Tenerife, I was going for a sausage and tomato cob, we call them in Leicester, at the local caf, where the market is. and on my way I got stopped in my tracks and I could tell you to the very same Tyler that I got stopped in my tracks I had this maddest vision and I see this bar with three round windows three round windows I'm like whoa and I could see all the pictures on the wall I could see the guy behind them I could see all the bottles behind the bar I could see a guy on the mic it was a maddest thing and I I didn't think anything of it.
8:13And anyway, like I say, I was about to leave, about to give it up. And my dad said, stick it out. Two days later, I got a phone call from a state agent called Bill. He went, all right, Wayne? I said, yeah, okay. He went, are you looking for a bar? I said, yeah. He said, I think I've got one for you. He said, come and meet me. I said, where is it? He went, it's in Patch. Patch was one of the two places that I wanted to be either Patch or a place called Starco or Veronica's, one of three so I pulled up in my seat I'll be there and
8:53I got out of the car he shook my hand I went where is it, he went there it is three round windows I'm like whoa I love it, he went you've not seen it I said I don't need to, I love it I walked in, it was exactly the same size I'd seen in my Bajern and it's the maddest thing. And yeah, that was the start. So I took that premises. We were only there a year and it was too busy. And we moved to a new location in Starco, which is near Veronica's. It just exploded. I mean, the bar trade was different back then. It was everyone used to meet in the bars. I call it the sober money. You get the sober money, which is when people are sober.
9:36They spend faster, they spend quicker. I mean, Ocean gets all the sober money now. But there was no daytime venues back then. So, yeah, the bars used to do, we used to absolutely kill it. How much you making back then? I was making a lot of money, like 20k a week. Mad money. That's 40 years ago. Yeah, it was nuts. It was just crazy. But obviously, barcourt just changed. But, yeah, it was just a money pit. But you've always had that business mindset, entrepreneurial skills. How was that when you were on the stalls and the big corporations are coming in and shutting everybody down? How was that?
10:18Yeah, I mean, there weren't deliberately shutting everyone down. It was just the fact that they were too big for us and the fact that people go to one place, take the car, go to one place, get all the shopping. You know, they didn't have to go. People just made trips to the town centre for the fruit and veg. And obviously they put a stop to that and it just declined. Crazy. So what was that feeling when Lineker started doing well? How was that for you? Yeah, it was amazing because I used to love it so much. I've always loved being in the industry and since day one I've... Yeah, I wouldn't say I was born to do it but it's definitely my path in life.
11:03I've got my son Freddie, he's born to be a DJ. He's doing really well. He's been doing it a year. He's absolutely smashing it. But I say to him, you were born to be a DJ. You know, he loves music. He started, when I used to pick him up at school at 11, 12, he'd get his stick out, put it in my car, listen to music. So, yeah. So, yeah, that was my path. This episode is brought to you by Welch's Fruit Snacks. Back-to-school season can be tough on parents. But choosing a snack you and your kids can both get behind doesn't have to be. 12:21Shop now at palmolive.com. So I took it with open arms. I enjoyed it. I've enjoyed it every single year since I've been doing it. What was that like when you started becoming busy? Like, was it because of the name of your brother or was it because of the way you were running it? Yeah, obviously having the name Lineker's was a big advantage but I'm not stupid I'll take advantage of something of a situation that I'm in and yeah and then it just got busy and busy and busy and then I think it was the World Cup came we played Cameroon and Gary took one of the penalties to get us back in the game and they said to him after on BBC One 15 million people watching what were you thinking of when you took the penalty?
13:19He said I was thinking of my brother in his bar in Tenerife he didn't say that because he wanted to advertise me he said it because he meant it because we were so close back then and and yeah it just exploded after that I just went mad it was queuing the people like we used to open the bar at 12 o 'clock there was 40 50 people outside waiting for t-shirts you know we were selling like a thousand t-shirts a week and it was ridiculous see when you're doing that you've not touched a drink you're not drinking before the ages of 30 no I never drank you would have seen the destruction in the bars of the state of people getting to yeah what was the decision to take your drink at 30 I don't know really.
14:02I had a drink on my 17th birthday and I got so paralytic that I thought this is not for me. I woke up and there's a place called the Clock Tower in Leicester. It's a famous thing. Famous clock. And it's right in the town centre. And I was asleep on the floor at like 8 o 'clock in the morning. And some old lady woke me up He said, you okay, son? I went, no, I'm not. And I felt so ill. And I never had a drink again until I was, I think I was 29, actually. Yeah, and then the rest is history. But yeah. What was that like? Did you feel as if your business declined when you were drinking? Or was that part of your name?
14:45No, I think it only did it good. Only did it good. People don't want to see me sober. They want to see me drunk. Yeah. They want to see all my stuff. I encourage my stuff to drink. because I wanted my staff to be on the same level as the clients so they can have a good time, they could dance on the bar top, they can do these shows and you can't ask sober people to do that around drunken people so we used to encourage the staff to drink. They didn't need much encouraging. How many people could get into Lineker's at that time? Four or five hundred. Yeah. What happened after Lineker's then? Did you start venturing out?
15:23Yeah, then we started opening more bars and we had Grand Canaria, Magaluf, Ayinapa, Fungirola and Marbella and then Ibiza. There's a few more as well, but they've all dwindled away over the years, really. The only strong ones that survived are Tenerife, Ibiza and Marbella. But we're just still going quite strong. I mean, they're not what they used to be, but profit-wise. but you still have a good night in there. So you're making some serious dough. How do you then manage all those pubs, all those staff? Back then there's no cameras, people dipping the fucking till. How do you build up staff and trust and get them running smoothly?
16:07Obviously not stupid. You allow a percentage that's going to go west, you know. But you don't have the technology you do now to control it. so I used to have your mates in there really it's all very friendly all the girls were all good friends and it was like a family you know so if anyone ever did start stealing money then it wasn't accepted by anyone and yeah it was difficult but but you've always got a lower percentage of what you did back then anyway what was it pesetas back then pesetas yeah what was that like but the drink was cheap though you get a pint for a peseta and all it was proper cheap now you're going to fucking murpy I think 10 ,000 pesetas was about was it 50 quid I can't remember yeah mad what was that feeling when you started making dough fucking great did you love it fantastic yeah how was life for you then it was amazing I mean I had the best time of my life well still you know it doesn't change I've had an amazing career and it's only just begun so yeah Yeah, obviously, it's never really been about the money for me.
17:22I mean, I'm very fortunate to have earned it and still am earning it. But it's about giving people a good time. That's the buzz I get. Standing on that stage at Ocean, looking out, you've got thousands of people in there having the time of their lives. It's a buzz, you know. That's what feeds me. So everything's going good for the family. you're running successful businesses your brother's playing for England one of England's top goal scorers one of England's best ever players like is everything going good then? Life seemingly perfect? Yeah it was pretty much perfect yeah Were you drinking every night?
18:00Yeah most nights Were you an alcoholic? Of course I'm an alcoholic Anyone that says they don't go out and have a drink everyone that goes out and has a drink is an alcoholic because they need that drink to give them a good time what's the worst thing about having those bars though because I've been in 10-8 many times back I think there's always fucking trouble but how was there a lot of trouble in these bars as well how did you handle that I've been so blessed I saw a little gap in the market which is why another reason that Linnekes did so well and that gap was at that time the security doorman they called them then bouncers was so aggressive So aggressive.
18:45You used to stand on the table or seats, dancing. You used to sling them out, sling them on the streets. And I'm like, that's not right. You can't take all that money, get them pissed. They're going to have a little boogie on the seats and you want to throw them out? I'm like, no, that's not cool. So I thought, I need to change that. So I applied a new policy. I let people do what they want, you know, within reason. And they were dancing on the tables, on the bar top, and the fucking, you name it, they were just going mad. And everyone was like, oh my God, you should go in there, it's amazing.
19:19Whereas everywhere else, we're just throwing people out and being really aggressive to them and nasty. So that was a big thing for Linne, because it just got us on a momentum going and people just had a great time. Again, I go back to the point that I just love giving people a good time. I love it. They can enter, to you now. So how did, you're most known for Ocean Beach, I've been in Ocean League many times, I've been throughout many times back in the day when I was on it, but how did Ocean come about? Ocean came about through my good friend Tony Truman, my partner now. We were sat in a swimming pool in Marbella, I think it was about 2009, 2010, and he was already at Parks, Linnickers ibiza opened in 2008 and totally became a partner in that he approached me said i want to open linicas in ibiza i didn't know much about ibiza then but i heard it was a great place to have a business so i said okay let's do it and anyway we opened linicas ibiza and then a year later or two years later we sat in a swimming pool in marbella and he said uh we need to open a beach club I said yeah we do he said and we know where we wanted to open in Ibiza and um and we sat there for probably under an hour or so and talking about it thinking what we could do what it bring Vegas to Ibiza and mix it up with this and that and Nicky Beach and blah blah blah all held into one we're just chatting away and um anyway he went back to Ibiza and he called me oh the next year I was in Ibiza for Lineker's because I was there, I really liked Ibiza, I thought I love this place so I went to, anyway he called me and he went and found it, I said okay, he said come and meet me I'll show you, so I went there and I was like oh my god, this is the one, it was an old wedding venue, Spanish family had it, they were at retirement age there was nothing happening there it was just all grass everywhere and like um it was it was yeah completely different to what is now and um and yeah and we did a deal with them we signed for it and then i said to tony one day i said it's not big enough man because it was two-thirds of what ocean is now and then there's a restaurant next door I said we need to get that restaurant next door and he went let me find out who owns it and he found out and it turned out it's the same family so I went yeah let's do a deal on them both so we did a deal on them both and um anyway came to knocking everything down we were like oh my god it's too big it's too fucking big it was like a football pitch you know it's like what are we going to do with this and uh anyway beside me sat down and designed everything and This episode is brought to you by Welch's Fruit Snacks.

23:25Yeah, it sort of worked. And now, it's probably not big enough, but we've kept it. We had an option because we've got Bamberku now next door. And we had an option a couple of years ago where should we go in? Should we make it even bigger and go into Bamberku? And the decision of the partners between us was that it's so good now. Let's not ruin it. let's not tinker with it you know two or three days a week we'd probably get full but there's the other four days we'd probably it'd look a bit sparse but sparse in there and it wouldn't have the atmosphere that it has today what year was this? well we opened Ocean in 2012 it feels as if it's been longer yeah it feels as if it's been longer it's our 12th year this year it feels as if it's been fucking years How's that be for my 20s?
24:19Seems like it's been about 20 minutes to me. When did it start? Can you say how much you paid for that? No, I can't say that. How many partners are involved in it? Because you hear stories that you're not even involved or you're only there to say. What's the proper... How many partners are involved? There's five of us. And that's the five guys we've worked with for the years? My son, mine, myself, Tony, Tony Worldjet and Maxie. What's the capacity? again I think legally around 1400 it's a lot though in the opening times 1pm to midnight no 1pm to 11 and when did you start seeing how busy and popular it would be because it's massive it's global it's fucking global it's mega I'll tell you why it's mega because it's fucking amazing it's the greatest place on the planet, I don't care what anyone says, and everyone says to me all the time, you cannot, it will never ever be beat, not even by us, we can take it anywhere in the world, it will never have that magic that Ocean Beach, San Antonio has, it's unbelievable, it's perfect, it's so sociable, everyone's talking to each other, you know, you can walk walking to ocean, 10 of you, and you can walk out with 50, 60 new friends, everyone's talking to each other on the beds, and guys can chat to girls, girls can chat to guys, the sun's shining, they've got an orange cup in their hand, the music's amazing, they've got the shows, they've got the dancing, you've got the sunset, it's just amazing, yeah.
26:01Why do you love it so much? How happy you look when you talk about it. Well, I'm proud, isn't I? And you fucking should be, man. It's good to see people successful in business and doing what they can. But yeah, it's a unique place. And like I say, it will never be beat again. Don't care who, whoever comes with anything, it will never be beat. It will never be touched. It's unique. It's magical. You've had so many faces, so many high-profile names through. You had Conor McGregor last year. What was Conor like? He's a funny guy. He's a mad cunt, isn't he? He's perfect for ocean. No one enters the building like Conor McGregor.
26:40Funny guy. But he's alright, you know. He is what he is, you know. Because a lot of the football players as well, Jack Grealish, great player, great kid. I know they're only young and having fun, but sometimes I see a resemblance of Gaza and Grealish as well. Two young kids, amazing talents. But you can see that they've got something in them where they fucking love to party. Yeah, Jack loves a good time. You know, he loves a good time. You know, when he comes to Ocean, which is pretty much every year. He has a great time. We get him a nice table where he's left alone at the back. He has a squirt around him.
27:16But he's a lovely guy. You know, why shouldn't he have a good little party and have a good time? He deserves it. And no better place to do it than Ocean. Who's the best guests you've seen come in that you've really enjoyed their company? High profile names. Dean Gaffney. Matt Dean. Oh, God bless him. I always say that. Because you've had Ed Sheeran in that. Ed was the one, yeah. It was the one because, I mean, he comes up here. He's got a group of guys that he went to school with. And ever since they left school or university, wherever it was, he's continued to take them away every year on his little jet or his big jet probably now.
28:00And, you know, the first time he came, he flew to Ibiza. with the same group of guys he flew to Ibiza with two years ago. You know, I'm going back probably seven, eight years. And, yeah, every single year he flies them in his jet. And they came, he came from UK to Madrid. He did a concert in Madrid, then he flew to Ibiza the next day. Spent the day at Ocean, then flew back the next day. yeah but yeah he's a good guy he's such a lovely man yeah he seems like he's a lovely lovely man you know what I mean he's like so polite so humble always got time for people always have good always have good chats with myself and Tony and yeah we look after him obviously but two years ago he's not this summer this summer before he came with all the guys he was in the mood he was on the wine and he said to to Tony and myself He said, I fancy singing.
29:04Is it okay? And we're like, well, go out of bed. And anyway, it took about 20 minutes, set everything up. And funny enough, that day, all the musicians were there, because they're once a week, all the live musicians, and they were there. So they were playing with Ed Sheeran on the stage at Ocean. He was jumping in the crowd, crowd surfing. He sang about five songs, some Spice Girls stuff, some of his own stuff he finished with sweet Caroline it was mental and I still brought that down for Wow well done way this is amazing you know what I mean but just lovely guy I know that was probably my greatest moment when he just dived in the crowd Ed Sheeran and I loved it for the people that were there that day because it was so random you know we obviously never advertised it we never had a clue it was going to happen and so yeah I was really happy for everyone and the musicians to say the play with our share you know and they've been working for us for years so it's nice Are you there every day?
30:17Every day Every day What am I going to do? Stay home watch EastEnders? No mate or lose swimming? No I'm gonna go to ocean do you have to booze every day or do you have a break I don't have to, I just do fuck's sake Wayne every day you're on the booze I control it now a lot better than I used to don't fucking lie to me mate every photo I see you've got a fucking bottle in your hand yeah, it's not good is it how is that when because you've now got that character of being in ocean, getting your photos, having a drink, getting on it. How is that where it's not pressure but do you feel as if you have to live up to that character?
31:05It's difficult to go to ocean and not be on the same level as everyone. It's difficult. You know, you want them to have a good time. Not that they can't have a good time without a drink but you're in that environment with everybody's like, just wants a speech or a picture with you jumping on you and blah blah blah you can have a drink it's difficult not to has anybody ever try and test you when they're drunk or mad with the gear trying fucking push you or trying to be an ass because you see some photos again they're making faces that you're thinking what the fuck are you doing everyone's super nice to me man it's so rare for someone to be off with me now I'm not saying it's never happened but it happens less now yeah but those bouncers in Spain they don't fuck about man they're all 6 feet 4 they're good lads but yeah overall Ocean we hardly get any trouble because it's such a happy place everyone's happy nobody's like angry you know like I say we've got the sober money they're just having a good time if they came to the come to Ocean in the state that they leave and had to stay all day and then it'd be a lot different story but everyone's happy Ocean what's your busiest night?
32:31Saturday? Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday every night what's it estimated it takes on one night? no idea he's a ballpark a few quid but we've got a lot of rent to pay a lot of staff to pay how many staff do you go at? 350 a lot of staff well about knocking on a thousand on the island with Linnecurs and Itzikur and Bamberkut Wikibu, STK all the companies, businesses together we've got a lot of businesses now 20 odd obviously you're loving that part of it Yeah. Don't want to leave anyone out. Skinny kitchen, big pots. It's a lot. You're living that party lifestyle.
33:23You're making money, successful, but your life's not always been that sort of thing. This episode is brought to you by Welch's Fruit Snacks. Back to school season can be tough on parents. I've not really heard you touch on it much, but what age did prison come around? I got sentenced on my 44th birthday. Yeah. Weird one. Because I should never have gone to prison.
34:43I only went to prison because of my brother who he was at that time. And that was proved to be right because I took it to court of appeal and I won and then it released me. But at that time it was difficult. Yeah, straight into Brixton prison. I'm like, whoa. It was only just for tax, 80 grand worth of tax. No one's ever been to prison for 80 grunts with the tax ever I was the first would you get 18 months they get me no they get me they get me 30 months 2 and a half years for 80 bags how did they catch you um long story but um yeah we used to change money up with this guy that used to work for this bank because I used to fly money home and but I declared the early order of it which is why at the end of the 80 grand.
35:43Anyway there's an incident happened with this guy who works in the bank. We were giving him the money and I was taking the my PA was going to the bank changing the money. He was giving it and from the Satis at the time to Sterling no problem all declared more majority of it. And, um, yeah, but the guy was, what was making double entries. He was taking the cash out, putting it in our cap, putting the figures in our account. And, um, yeah. And it eventually the police thought we were in cahoots cause he got caught in the end with the police thought we were in cahoots with him and which obviously weren't.

36:32so they raided my house a big place I lived in the UK at that time a big place in Essex and I had separate offices at the side where my PA works and a girl that worked for us blah blah blah they just seized everything, took everything and they went through every single thing and they found 80 grand's worth of tax but yeah, that is what it is you know, I should have got a slap on the wrist and told you, you've got to pay this. That's it. But because I was Gary's brother, they put me away. And then we took it to the court with Peel,
37:10which Gary actually paid for. Because I think he did feel a certain amount of guilt that this should never have happened. And we won and they let me out. And, yeah, I'd like to see you later. I ain't coming back here. What was that late getting? 30 months? and then going to Brixton for the first day, how did you become a target because of who your brother was? Not really a target, just like, probably a little bit of a prize for people to chat to. Do you know what I mean? I got, I had two guys come into my cell. Cause you had this little tiny cell, yeah. Like in Brixton, I mean, you're there for three or four weeks before you go to Decaf prison, which is a walk in the park compared.
38:02I was in there for three weeks. Anyway, about two week two, this guy came into, these two guys came into my cell. At the time, there's the little flick phones, you know, you could take pictures on them, you could look loading them on Facebook, but they're only like Ericsson's and all that. So he's come in to my cell, he's like, you all right, I said, yeah, I'm all right, two of them, big lads. I'm like, you all right? He's like, come with me. I said, where are we going? He went, I need to talk to you in my cell. I'm like, okay. So I've gone to their cell and like, and they're proper aggressive, you know.
38:40Right, my missus wants a picture of you. I said, I can't take a picture of them. It'll be in the papers, blah, blah, blah. He went, my missus wants a picture of you. We're going to take it whether you like it or not. I'm like, ooh, this is the moment. So I said, I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll take it against a blank wall. And then I could be anywhere in the world. Anyway. I'm thinking he's pulling a knife. He pulled his phone out. He went, okay. I'm not fucking out. It's fucking terrible. I'm like, Jesus, man. But yeah, it's a proper moment, yeah. How long were you in prison for? Seven and a half months.
39:21Is that a long time, isn't it? It's best that you're living that. No, it's not. Yeah, I just got me down to learn my Spanish. I thought I want to take something out of this. So I just sat in my cell for seven months, just going and trying to learn Spanish. It was difficult because my daughter at the time was unbelievably close, you know, so I was took away from her. She had to visit me in the prison and we had this game we used to play. So I used to, I got a colouring book, so I'd colour one thing in on the picture, post it to her, and she'd colour one thing, post it back. So about 12, 14 times we finished the picture, which was cute.
40:06I used to get so excited to receive that letter with that drawing of see which picture she coloured in. Yeah. And when she came and see me I used to be, it's just be like an incredible feeling. But she used to come every single week. Is that the hardest thing about prison? Yeah, definitely, yeah. I mean, the fact that I was locked up in fucking April as well. So I missed the whole summer in Tenerife. How could you run your business? Could you still run your businesses from in there? Well, that was the growth of my son, Dwayne. He was thrown in at the deep end. He was now my partner in all my businesses, Ocean, everywhere.
40:50You know, he turned him into a man in seven months. He did amazing. So, yeah. I mean, that was the good thing that came out of it. He was only young. He was really young, you know. But he managed, he did well. And it grew him to be a proper man. And he's now an incredible businessman. He wipes his socks off of me. is so unbelievably clever, organised yeah he's going to go a long way that boy How was the press worth you? Did they have a field day when you got sent to prison? Yeah well I got I walked out the courtroom in the fucking in the cuffs I walked out of the courtroom into the security security court van, do you know the ones with the windows in?
41:50there's about seven little stand up things inside so I'm going in there they put me in there took my uncle some shut the door I'm literally you could only stand up you can't there's no there's nothing else in there then you got like an hour's drive to Brixton I'm like fucking hell this is fresh you know this I'm like can't believe this is happening to me so anyway the driver jumps on it's about all the all the little cubicles there they're all full all lads that just been nicked so I had to wait two hours before I got in there before everyone was ready blah blah and um no I'll never forget it it turned on the radio the guy the guy that's driving said all right lads do you want some music on they're all going yeah yeah yeah I'm thought why are they so happy I'm like visible as sit-ups I don't want to hear any music but I'm just sat there anyways turn the fucking radio on first thing Gary Link's brother sentenced to blah blah blah today I'm like oh for fuck's sake yeah mad how was your mum and dad still alive at that time yeah your dad what were they saying yeah just as well isn't it bless them yeah that's the hard thing about being inside no matter what you've done it's the worry that you put them through.
43:14Yeah, obviously we used to write to each other and my mum used to write to me and my dad because it was a lot different then. Technology's gone a long way since then. Was it slopping out then? Were you slopping out? It was all letters. Well, you clean your own cell. You keep it clean. Was our toilets in then? In your cell you had a toilet and a bunk bed and a sink and a kettle that's all you had who was your soul mate my PA no still my PA is that how he's met yeah bless him he did nothing wrong at all he got he got sent in bless him didn't do a thing wrong nothing mad maddest thing so they put the two yous in the same cell yeah but funny enough after because you get you get you get sent to um the first thing he said to me when the first night we're in the cell at Brixton.
44:13It was the funniest thing. It's really fucking settled the dust. He's like, Dave, what are we going to do? His name's Dave. This episode is brought to you by Welch's Fruit Snacks. I said, you know, just me and him, the fucking bunk bed and the shitter. He went, I know. I said, what? He went, let's play hide and seek.
45:35I'm like, oh my God, that's fucking funny. And we were just pissing ourselves laughing. But yeah. But he left after two weeks. He got transferred quicker than me. And the security... What do you call them? I can't forget what you call them now. The screw. The screw comes up. Dave, Mr Hodges. No, Hodges. Not Mr Hodges. Hodges. Your transfers come through. Lineka, we have a new guest for you tonight. just gonna show yourself I'm all great Jesus worst day of my life I said okay I'm thinking I need to get out of this place so I just said be warned is a recovering crack addict I'm all great lovely so I'm so I'm all but the geezer's warts in is must be 25 stone must be huge guy and yeah it was like you know he said to me look i might stop shaking at night and stuff like that blah blah blah it's great and um yeah and believe me he shook he rattled that bed snoring i'm like i'll never forget it i'm like i gotta get out of here man but what can you do i had to put i had to put up with him four days never slept for four days.
47:02I was literally like dead. Then they went you got your transfer so then I went to Decap prison it was like it was like going to the fucking W Hotel in London it was amazing. It was it seemed like that but yeah. So what was it like getting out? Was it a relief? Unbelievable great greatest feeling ever. Has that put things in perspective for you for life? It did for a short while and then you forget about it. yeah you just crack on but i remember driving down the road and went oh my god look at this it's amazing even you notice the birds and the leaves and it's really mad and like you sound a traffic jam and think this is great and when you walk in a shop little corner shop i'm like look at this you know how was life then how long were you married for first time I don't know about eight years what about second time three months I love that shit mate fuck the three months isn't it but how's does see being with that lifestyle is that hard to have a steady relationship being in that part of life yeah I mean let's be clear it's not easy to date me is it I'm surrounded by girls every day and they all want the picture to talk to me they all want to talk to me and so yeah it's difficult um but yeah do you have any regrets with that kind of not stepping back and just giving a relationship 100 how can i regret anything man my life's unbelievable i'm so blessed man you know what i mean i'm surrounded by amazing people amazing children amazing partners great friends I own a beach club in Ibiza the greatest one in the world everyone was taught to me everyone's nice to me everyone's happy to me how can I not be how can I have any regrets how many kids do you have for for Freddie my youngest and tear my daughter and Sean and Dwayne my eldest how many different mothers three fucking hell Wayne I've got three to three as well have you I need to open a beach club to change my name to fucking Wayne but how's like how see when you're going through that stage when does that kind of become tiresome it must become tiresome living that life become a character where it's not really it's not normal no matter how much we sugarcoat it and say it's great this and that standing with girls and drinking but when does it does it ever become tiresome being this guy character it becomes tiresome when you take the piss out of what you're doing and you go out all night and you fucking get in at seven and you expect to fire on all cinders if with two hours sleep and all that that's when it becomes tiresome but finally over the years i mean last year i already went out to a nightclub last year I just went to the ocean every day, just go and have some dinner on the way home.
50:17I did the Glitterbox here and there, and Eden defected on a Friday. I'd either do it Friday, it defected, and then alternate it with the following Sunday at Glitterbox. I'd never do like two, three nights a week at clubs this year. I found that made a big difference. Whereas four or five years ago, I was out every night. 2012 I did 100 hangovers in 100 days. I never got in once in darkness. Never got in once in 100 days. Yeah. Every day I got in was daylight. I used to go sleep, few hours, go to the ocean, vodka red ball, back in the game. Bit of lunch, cup of glass of wine, another vodka red ball, off I go again.
51:10And that was a cycle I couldn't get out of and lasted 100 days. Were you taking gear? No, no. Just booze? Just booze. But that's an alcoholic. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's terrible. It is what it is, but it's also fun. Yeah, but as a man who... You just got to control it, but it's difficult. Back then I couldn't control it. I was like, I was just like an animal. Yeah, that's not control because a man who used to do it myself, I see the red flags and I see when somebody's struggling because that's a massive form of escape no matter how well we sugarcoat it or the car we drive or the watch we wear what bird's standing next to is doing that stuff we're hiding from something one million percent did anybody ever say to you look at your son listen dad fucking head oh yeah my son yeah head out your ass man like you're flying in life you don't need to do all the other stuff yeah it's only really my family really everyone else has got our wine being used well i just don't want to see a sober wine then Do you want to see a sober Wayne Lineker?
52:14I want to see a sensible Wayne Lineker. Let's put it that way. See, when you've got Ocean, you've got all the big names coming through the door, who's the one name you would love to see come through the door? One or two people. And that's because I just think, I've just watched, one of them's Mr David Beckham. I would love David Beckham to come and have a day out with me I know David but I've not seen him for years and years and years since Gary played for England I think I just admire that man the way he went through you know he talk about turning your life around you know and I just admire him so much for what he's done and he's a lovely guy you can see in his smile he's a good kid so yeah one's David Beckham the other one's asked to be Leonardo DiCaprio I actually watched Wolf Wall Street again last night for the seventh time.
53:13He's the man, bro. He is the man. He's so good at acting. Yeah. But yeah, he's a funny fucker. He would fucking love it. I know shit where the young birds act. Every fucking year his birds get younger. 18, 19, all models. Listen to each turn on. It is a bit fucking too much for me. But he's... DiCaprio. Yeah. What a guy. I mean obviously you know I see his image like Wolf of Wall Street but it's obviously not like but oh man yeah Beckham's class as well he went through after the World Cup when he was sent off against Argentina man the only thing about Bex is he I mean he's married but if he was single he'd be taking all the tens wouldn't he I'd be left with the eights well he'd be fucking he'd be cleaning up but she seems a good woman as well she's a good girl so you don't realise how strong she is and having a woman like that in your life which has kept him because he fucking he was besotted by her he loved her and back then I have no disrespect to her but she wasn't the greatest I binged his documentary in two hours yes so much respect for him she's got better she's got older she wasn't the greatest back then so I was thinking how the fuck does he love her so much but because of the the mother and nurture of her saved his career saved his life but you forget people were hanging like fucking David Beckham's statues out in the pubs and stuff.
54:36Nuts. Young kid, man. He actually went through. You know yourself? The media kill people. Yeah, I know, yeah. It's a comeback from that, the way he's done. He deserves a day out of the ocean. Do you think he'll ever show up? I don't think so, no. Why? I don't know. Do you think it's... He likes his red wine in his fan house and that, isn't it? Yeah. Maybe one day. Who else has been? What other big names have been? There's so many, man. and like Dumble's Aaron, he came. It was a disappointment. Just a bit boring, really. Left early. Yeah, it was a big disappointment. But yeah, I mean, we get fishers, and all your DJs, they all come.

Wait, wait, wait, wait. Just mad. And he fell in the crowd. Sweeping up on the stage he was.
56:44I got the video. Sweeping up on the stage. Just fell into the crowd. Funny guy. How is Big Maya? She's beautiful. Big Maya. Yeah, she's nice. She's stunning. She's a beautiful girl. Yeah. She's very pretty, yeah. She's like, yeah. Proper. Yeah, she's very conscious of how she portrays herself, which is good. I think everybody is, though. Yeah. Majority of people. They're not. Yeah. Some people just let the herd down. Don't give a fuck. But yeah, she's a good girl. What's the worst thing you've seen in Ocean? Worst thing I've seen, I shouldn't. Guy had a hot sack this year, fell on the floor. Yeah, bad.
57:32Just like, he was just walking through the venue, and I just fell on the floor. And yeah, fortunately the medics pulled him around, got him to hospital and he was alright. But it was mad. We actually closed the venue for like an hour, until we knew it was alright, because we thought it was going to go. Just, um, just, no sign, nothing. We've got all the CCTV, we've got him walking through the venue, happy as anything, just walking with his orange cup in his hand and as he was just getting to the dance floor and he just fell over and cardiac arrest yeah so we had to turn the music off then we got word that because we acted so quickly and we've got a little clinic in there with qualified doctors and nurses and and they brought him around and got him into the ambulance and yeah fortunately it was okay.
58:34You must get people taking bad turns all the time because I think I was on the mandy then and then i was tripping balls i got through out i chased a guy there was a guy in a suit who used to walk around your pool but i was that was just yeah he had a fucking suit and it was a weird so i ended up getting huckled out i think that's the mandy mate like a penguin i've never said yeah i've never said anyone that's what i thought yeah yeah and i was chasing him in the pool but then the bouncers fucking weaked me out Tuckled out Fucking good times mate I miss that old James That was cringe But I mean I look back How you fucking cringe But I had a black eye Not then as well man Sounded right wrong I knew mate Yeah fucking hell When are you your happiest when?
59:18When I'm with my family We go to the Maldives every year Well we've not been for Since Covid But starting again next year We used to go everywhere To the Maldives All the family All my kids all the girlfriends, boyfriend for Sean, because he, bless him. We all used to go together, and the grandkids, and just be away from everything. And it's beautiful. That's when I'm at my happiest. Family seems everything for you. Like, I know you don't really touch on it much, and you don't have to, but how is it not speaking to your brother, Gary? Especially getting older as well. Yeah, yeah, I'm not gonna speak about anything to do with that with my brother, but it's obviously Obviously disappointing, but because we used to be so close, but yeah, it is what it is.
1:00:05That's the painful thing, because for me, it's everything I'm doing as I got older, family's everything. Yeah, it is. It is. Nothing else matters. Yeah. I know you love Ocean and all the fucking glitz and the glam, but it's all bullshit when you bring it all down when family's fucking everything. Yeah, everything, yeah. Do you think you could ever resolve it? I don't know. I don't know. It's not in my hands to do that. I've tried, but it is what it is. How's life now? For me? Yeah. Fantastic. Did you just say that though? No. Because you're used to saying that. It's fantastic. I just love my life, man.
1:00:42Because you've done the reality shows now. What was the single show you've done? Celebs Go Dating. Celebs Go Dating. How was that? It was the best. So in COVID. Everyone's in fucking lockdown. Me, Tom Zanetti. I like Tom. Shout out to Tom. Tom, love sock. Tommy boy. He's a mad bastard as well. He's the funniest guy, bro. Yeah. He kills me. His energy. I've never seen anyone with energy like him. He's got more energy than Fisher. Matt. But good energy. And he's got a good heart and a good soul. He loves his family. He's got good morals. But he's a mad fucker. How was I going on that dating show?
1:01:24It was the funniest part. What made you do it? At that time, I was getting a lot of stick on the on the social media and stuff and I did a post about my criteria and a girlfriend and it went worldwide viral went across the world it was ridiculous they were talking about on loose women this and the other but it was a piss take was me just being funny but it went so viral it meant it got alerted celebs go dating because it was about me trying to find a girlfriend to contact at me and say, look, do you want to come on the show? So I sort of thought about it, I thought, yeah. I just want people to see me for who I am.
1:02:05You know, they either like me or don't. I think it was the best thing I ever did. Yeah, I had the best time, man. It's the funniest thing. So we're all in a mansion and it was just brilliant. Curtis Pritchard, Chloe Ferry, Kimberly Hart. just the best squad. The best squad. Karimi. Yeah. Great memories. You came good friends with Chloe Ferry. Oh yes, it came me, Chloe, yeah. Then we did the fake engagement. That was the funniest thing. Yeah, that went viral as well. But Chloe's Chloe. There'll never be another Chloe Ferry. She's the funniest, man. She's just hilarious. she's just constant just laugh yeah she's a good girl how long did the show last?
1:02:59I think about 8 weeks something was in there something like that loved it you seem to love everything you do right enough you seem you just go I like life innit yeah I do enjoy my life yeah I know you man you're a good guy how do you deal with the stick and shit when people talk shit online how does that affect you it never i'm so thick skinned i just don't care what i care about is my daughter having to read you know i went to this crouch fest through the week like i got on my way so i got crouchy and christart they said wayne come on the show because they used to take the piss out of me but saying i'm the best club manager and pep guardiola's and nothing compared to me and all that and there's this ongoing thing on their podcast so they said come on the show we're gonna do the crouch fest come on come on stage I went all right sounds good I'm on my way I've gone on the tube so if I don't want to drive because I'm gonna have a probably have a drink and so I went on the tube I'm on the tube all groups of lads on there we know we know we love you we know all coming up jumping on me having pics I'm like okay okay so I've got there and um honestly everyone's so so nice to me and the crowd were going wayne wayne anyway got got to the actual moment i walked out i've got two birds on me on both got a bottle of goose in their hands probably wasn't the best idea with 12 000 absolutely wasted football fans and like i'm thinking oh that was all right and then i've walked out everyone's gone yeah then all of a sudden some kid's gone pedo and his mate's gone pedo then it's spread it spread across the venue.
1:04:49There's 12 ,000 people shouting, call me a fucking pedo. I'm on stage. I'm like, whoa. I'm like, come on. That's the worst. Pedo, pedo, 12 ,000. There's one person there that wasn't shouting at me. I'm like, you fuckers, you just say what great matter about the fucking tube. And now you're calling me a pedo, which is for me, one of the worst. That's the worst. That's the worst. so i thought um i just i turned around i walked off stage and i went home because they said to me we're going to bring you on every 20 minutes 30 minutes we're a big part of the show up and so i thought i said i'll go i'm going to quit why not why i'm ahead i think it's the best thing for me to just walk away from this um because it only got worse you know what I mean because it was funny for them they're all pissed up aren't they herd mentality I call it and yeah it was a bit of a moment I wanted the fucking stage to open up and just suck me in like you know like fucking Gemma Collins you know get me in that trap you're alright now
1:06:00that is the worst thing 12 ,000 cunts because they in their mind listen everybody goes to Ocean they're spending thousands on your bar but like I say the same people come out yeah a picture with me we love you Wayne you're the best blah blah blah but it's just I get it because like it's a football they're football fans you know what I mean they go and sing they they all join in about giving I don't know like on David Beckham's thingy you know on his um documentary there was a moment when the same thing happened to Posh to Poshbeck's takes up the ass yeah she takes it off do you know what I mean everyone at the stadium you would rather somebody shouting but Wayne takes it off the ass than fucking Peter do you know what I mean I'm not keen on either of this but yeah it was a moment and how hard is that for you then because that is it doesn't matter people laughing it's alright us having a laugh now but it's still going to affect you do you know what I mean it's still going to fuck you up it actually don't affect me at all it honestly it just does not affect me it affected me that moment because I thought this is not comfortable I mean I can't you know but I know in the back of my mind they're just doing it because they think it's a laugh they don't really understand they don't give it any thought process wait shall I go into pre-dome everyone else's okay I'd fuck it do you know what I mean they don't think about it so you know I don't hate them for it it is what it is it's just a laugh It's not a nice laugh.
1:07:36It's not to be on the receiving end of it. You know, I've got my daughter, having to see shit like that. 12 pounds of people calling their dad a pedo. That's the thing that upsets me, nothing else. I don't give a fuck. I care about my family, you know, me and my grandkids. You know, Mila's, she wouldn't see it, but, you know, she's at that age now, she's starting to look on TikTok and, you know, she sees a TikTok of her granddad being called a pedo. not cool, not nice. It's very upsetting. That's the only thing that upsets me, personally. I know they don't mean it. But her mentality. But my granddaughter, for example, or my daughter, it's going to affect them a little bit more than it affects me.
1:08:22Did Crouchy reach out to you after that? Yeah. They looked uncomfortable, though. Yeah. As soon as I left, he messaged me, I'm sorry, this should never have happened. We didn't see it come in. And then, yeah, then Chris Starr messaged me and, you know, Abbey, Abbey messaged me as well. They're all super nice. And everyone's like, why didn't Crafty do something about it at the time? But I understand why he didn't, because it would have, it would have made things worse, I think. I think the right decision was for me to just walk away, slip out of the back door, get on the fucking tube back home.
1:09:00I actually got an Uber because I didn't want to go to the tube. and get home but yeah they were super nice Crouch is a good kid super apologetic it was bad for him as well it's not nice for him to have his guests on and get slaughtered like that yeah that's next level like I say that that can fucking put people into a depression yeah exactly yeah and I always say this people say sticks and stones but words kill people more than anything nowadays words are the worst mate words are the worst they do more damage do you rather a fucking broken nose or a broken arm than fucking somebody shouting that exactly yeah um yeah i mean i did a podcast not uh two a couple of years ago and no excuse for abuse because i i was seeing there's so much abuse on twitter and and this, that and the other.
1:09:56And I've just got celebrities on every week. And we used to sit down and talk about abuse, you know, and stories. And I think it did a lot of good because it's not nice, you know, when you're continually getting hammered. You know, I've got close friends who've took their lives, you know, a few. And because of that reason. You know, my ex-girlfriend, Sophie Graydon, took her own life for that reason. Because she got battered when she came out of Lubbock. So it's not nice. But yeah, it has got a little bit better. Not just for me, for, you know, it's not accepted anymore as much as it was. You know, all these, and Twitter and Instagram are so much better now.
1:10:50you know these got words flagged and you know you can't write nonce now you can't write pedo you can't write certain words because it will flag up and you'll get blocked or deleted or warned or so it's much better How did you deal with that losing an ex-partner to suicide? Yeah it was it was tough obviously you know I was in love with that girl at one stage and you know we had three years together and she's funny as fuck, she's a great girl, and a beautiful, her welled at her feet, she went on Love Island, got abused, and she come out by the public, and for that reason she took her own life, she's saddened it.
1:11:38You know, my theories, I had Nando's within three days before he killed himself, in Loughton. no one ever seen that coming did they but you know he used to get he used to get attacked by the by by the media and social media yeah Caroline Flack Caroline I love Caroline Caroline used to speak on the EMS I was telling her read the book Caroline stayed I live at a place called Seven Pines and she was there a few weeks before you know we were having fucking breakfast together. Do you know what I mean? Knots. Yeah. No need. But yeah, hopefully it's going to get better. How do you, like I say, but it's people asking you for falls.
1:12:29I seen the fall of four girls one time that were making faces and I was kind of cringing at them. These people are paying money in your place, spending fucking thousands. Listen, you don't mind the laughing people drunk. You're always going to get assholes. I was an asshole when I was drunk, but it's the, it's the fucking abuse that comes from the vile stuff that people and yet nobody sees says anything to you on the street i get shit oh they never do nobody's ever come up to me and says fucking anything and i'm thinking everybody's nice i think storms i came off of social media because he was saying i know who i am as a person i don't need people on social media telling me because nobody does that in person so i don't know what it is for people behind the screen talking shit what's worst thing anybody's ever says to you online well it don't get no worse than nonce does it yeah you know that's that's a that's a child six offending rapists that's the worst you know what it's because people's mindset is they're seeing you in ocean getting photos of 18 19 20 year olds they're all over you're the most selfied man on the planet or something is that true or is that just something that's throughout now I think I'm the most photographed man on the planet selfie man on the planet that's draining in itself though that's not specific have you ever had any photos when you're fucking out you're nut are you always trying semi ok when you take a photo I've got my security he knows what I'm allowed to say if I'm absolutely stinging I never say no I never say no he'll just whisk me away and go away Right, I say, I know you, you're a good gang man.
1:14:12We're like, wait, it's home time. Yeah. Is there much shag? Because he knows I'm going to get hounded. He knows everyone's going to go, what? Is there much shagging goes on in Ocean? I don't know. Well, obviously, yeah. I presume so. Is there? In the toilets and stuff, I guess. Does it get stopped, us people? Yeah, obviously, you know, it's not, you know, we're not going to encourage it, are we? But I'm not stupid to know it don't happen. there must have been many fucking babies made in there a lot I wonder if anybody called to be it's ocean there's a lot of babies have been born because the mother and father have met an ocean I know loads that's the only people come to me all the time we met an ocean we've got a baby now and I'm like that's fucking great do you know what I mean but the actual you know pistol bangs in the toilets I don't know it must happen many proposals quite a few yeah but I'm like no don't propose to your missus in fucking ocean man no it's not it's not the one you know have a great time come and have your fucking party there or celebrate or you know your hen do's and your stag do's and this and this but don't propose at ocean I don't think it's the one it's not you know what I mean I just don't yeah I find it a little bit some some kid came up to me and said look Wayne I want to propose to my missus.
1:15:39What day should I propose? I went, where? He went, at Ocean. I went, no, mate. Take a fucking Esweger. Get a fucking, you know, go and have a picnic in the sunset and do it there. Do it properly, but Ocean, surrounded by 1 ,500 people that you don't know. Do you know what I mean? Nah, don't do it. Do it properly, man. How is it having a daughter? knowing you see a lot of these girls as well drunk steaming falling about i've got a daughter i love to bits but and i'm a protector i worry as well how is it with your own daughter she's done amazing in life she used to have the chow dogs we used to because that's my chow chows and uh yeah she's incredible yeah so proud of her she she don't drink to you very very rarely if she does she'll have a little shandy or a little pawnstone martini that's about it bless her but she's uh she's very special with that one it's my only girl in it but um yeah my princess but she's done super well she's held herself so well over the years you know she's always you know she's built her business up through social media but she's done it well you know she's not done no no other raunchy pictures or anything like always classy always fashionable always on point always good backdrops always thinks about everything.
1:17:08She's kept that up for years and now she's doing really, really well. I think she's got over half a million followers now. But they're real followers, you know what I mean? They're not, they're people that volunteer because she's so good at what she does. And she's so fashion, her fashion sense is amazing. She's got a new brand now, kids brand out, because she's got my grandson now, Helva. And she designs clothes and they've got a little brand now called Label, The Label. But, yeah, she's doing really well. Yeah, that's what it's all about for me as family, my kids. I'm way away at the bank. She's such a good mom.
1:17:43She absolutely worships her boy and Harry, her boyfriend, who's, I call him, father-in-law's dream, you know. Don't drink, sensible, funny as fuck. smart, cool. Yeah. He's a, he's a good kid. Very lucky. How has it been a granddad? It's great. I love Myla. Myla's my, my first, she's too, she has my heart. I mean, I love all my grandkids obviously, but yeah, me and Myla, we're like best mates. I pick her up from school. She chats to me all the way home, I chat all the way, you know, um, she absolutely loves me, loves me to bits and we spend a lot of time together but yeah she speaks fluent Spanish now goes to Spanish school she lives in Ibiza with her dad and her mum and dad and her sister Aria but yeah very special very lucky to have the family I've got I really am How's your love life now?
1:18:52Zero Why is that? Not found the one yet trying to get committed to Ocean? Is that like a relationship? I actually really enjoy being single. I've been in relationships constantly all my life and not that there was anything ever wrong with them. You know, it's what it is and the ending comes to what they're ending for. But I'm happy on my own, you know. I mean, secretly searching for the one, but I'm not in any rush. I'm still young, isn't I? Still a baby. Don't answer, bastard. But that's what we say We're happy single But the bottom line is We're always searching Because all we want to do is feel loved It's the best feeling in the world It's the choice I'm of the choice You're scared of it though Because now you've seen the divorce And you've seen exes Suicide Where it just becomes too painful Having just a breakup in itself Is fucking painful To protect yourself with But do you feel as if You protect yourself more To not give anybody a chance Because of the pain you've been through No, I'm not been through any pain, I'm okay.
1:20:00I'm very strong-minded and I'm not stupid, you know.
1:20:08If the girl comes along, then she comes along. But if she does come along, I will give her absolutely everything, 100%. You know, that's what I've always done. Because that's what I am in life. I'm 100 % or I'm nothing in every single thing I've ever done. i'm just so if she does come along then she'll get every single piece of my heart and mind and everything else that comes with it what if she tells you she doesn't want you come back to ocean that's up to her innit you're married to ocean ocean comes first yeah to be fair yeah no i mean i'm not yeah it's going to take a lot to drag me away from that place what do you look for in the women
1:21:00it's probably different to what I used to look for but I don't know like I say I don't want to pick and chew I don't want to give my criteria away again because last time I got handed for it but obviously I like a good looking woman that's in nice shape and good personality clever yeah one of my quotes was um one of my criteria points was you know you you must be intelligent you can't you know in geography for example you can't think Lincoln is in Wales you know where's Lincoln is in Wales no you know just um so you need to be clever intelligent and hold a conversation at dinner. I don't know.
1:21:48Yeah, it's the awkward silence I don't like, you know, when you're with a girl and you've got no conversation with her and like a chat and have a laugh. It's scary now though with social media and all the fake shit. It's hard to connect with somebody on a level, especially with the businesses you've got, the money you've got. How could you trust somebody as well? Well, there is that, yeah. Are they with you? Because, you know, I mean, over the years I think I've managed to work them out, you know. But they still slip under the radar, especially because we're all searching for love. Of course, but they weren't last long.
1:22:23Yeah. Because I know people think you're a mad shag or this and that, but that's not the case either, is it? No, it's not at all. No, not at all, you know. I'm not... I've got a feeling someone's sleeper than mine. Believe it or not. Sorry to disappoint you, lads. But yeah, that's the truth. So where does people get that concept from? Because of all the fools? Because they see me in the pictures with the girls. So young lads' mentality is he's got to be banging them in me. But he's not. Yeah, everybody they see and they're thought, what other girl you're going to think they'll shine to you. Yeah, of course.
1:22:59Yeah. It's just the way of the world, isn't it? But the reality is far different from that. Do you think you're ever going to retire from it? Give it up? Try and go for that other life? No, just. things will die in ocean i see me 90 years old rocking in ocean in a zimmer frame taking selfies with the girls come on girls do you have no no i like to class myself certainly the the silk the silk shorts on yeah no you'll die in there then is that if you just came to the conclusion that's that it's a strong possibility it's fucking mad that you're still going strong you go there every day and fucking do what you do to then what do you think how do you think where how do you see your future i don't really look that far you know why um i've just i've just never been that sort of person i I mean, obviously business-wise, we look at our future and what we're going to do and where we're going to progress, which is done mainly by my son now.
1:24:11He's took over the realms, and I just... He does all the work, and I take all the credit. That's the way it is now. But I'm more than happy to put everything in his hands. He's the dad of the relationship, not me. He's not a drinker. He's not a party. He never goes ocean. he's always there but he's in the offices he's on the phone he's in meetings, he's doing this, he's doing that which is what people think I'm doing but I don't do nothing if you've seen the video with Faris absolutely nothing I just have a good time but I built the foundations as I always said it was the foundations for everything that's come since then and I built them, nobody else, just me I'm very proud of that and yeah so maybe I've earned my stripes.
1:25:04It's nearly 40 years in that industry. A lot of ups and downs. You always seem to have been busy though. Was there any moments when COVID must have been a fright for you? COVID killed us. Absolutely wiped us out. Killed us. Like you know talking about 20 businesses all hospitality. All fucked. For what? For two years not one. You know we absolutely. Fortunately we were financially strong and we survived but it hit us very very hard like incredible you know i walked in there on a he just called quarantine and i walked in on a tuesday in a kistory event seven o 'clock at night when normally there's 1500 people in there standing on the beds tables junk and having the best time of life dan's floor is full this something other walks in there's seven people in there 14 people in there two beds I drove got I'm going in the car I cried my eyes out I'm like what the fuck that was in August um you know mad but yeah and now we're back with a vengeance what makes a good business man oh you just got knuckling when you know when it's when the guy gets tough the tough get going isn't it oh and uh unfortunately that's what our company has done come back strong you know Maxi my Indian partner he's always just constantly alive and looking for new ventures and businesses and connections and this and that we've got a really good partnership the five of us and we're going to keep going, we are going to keep going and going and going Where do you go from here, Micunas?
1:26:53America? Yeah, we've got a big announcement to make very soon, but I can't share that at this moment in time. But something big's happening. Huge, huge, huge, huge. That's got to be the bias out there. I'm not obliged to say at this moment in time, but sometime in the new year it will be announced. I'm surprised you're not doing more oceans all around the world. well that was the plan then Covid came and so we're we're we're now back in the game enough to be able to continue our plans so life's going good then just doing your thing yeah not looking for love but looking for love yeah that's the one I'm looking for love but I'm not really looking for love but I'm looking for love yeah yeah I'll yeah I'll tell you what comes if you could change one thing for the past, what would it be?
1:27:56That 80 grand of tax, probably.
1:28:01Have you ever written a book? I got halfway through. What happened? A book. Do you know what? I can't write a book. I can't write a book and tell the truth. I can't tell the truth about my life. I cannot with my kids. when Tia reading that book I couldn't do it to her so I opted not to write a book yeah and now I've got my grandkids and you know I think if I want to write a book I want to write the truth and I can't write the truth no chance I can't any more TV stuff coming up? not at the moment no nothing what's the plans I'm not really looking for any what's the plans for Christmas New Year?
1:28:46I'm going to see Tia in Dubai
1:28:50and Harry and Albert and then Dwayne, Megan, Myla and Aria are joining us in Dubai and hopefully Sean. Freddie can't this year spend it with us because he's super busy doing it. He's so busy. See Freddie, yeah, he will be the UK's number one DJ by the time he's 25. Absolutely no doubt about it. He's so talented, so good looking. Girls love him. His music's amazing. He's got this energy about him, this aura, that when he walks into that DJ box, he can feel it. He can feel it in the crowd. He's like, whoa, that's my boy. He was great for me, I love it. I look at him. I was with him at the weekend.
1:29:36He played a set in, I did a PA in, I did a PA in, where was I?
1:29:45Nottingham and he did a set and he was like, does the crowd just love it? He's got this energy and it's like, you can see he's like, he's passionate about what he does and he loves music. Like I say, he's always loved music. So I'm very happy for him. He's probably the only person in the world I would switch shoes with. I would take his life because he's got an amazing future out of him if he can hold it together because obviously as we all know in that industry it's it's hard to get loose but he's a he's a clever polite humble kid um i think he'll stay that way yeah good for anybody watching that maybe writes negative comments towards people what what would you say to them i don't know if it's like you know freedom of speech in it i want to take notice of it do what you like don't really care um yeah no no what's the greatest life lesson that you've learned so far oh greatest life lesson never take the house vodka always take the gray goose
1:31:04when listen thanks for coming on today listen like i say i know you're a good man you're a good cunt I've just walked to you for a while mate you would help anybody out anybody that doesn't know you would you like to finish up on anything else no just I'll see you all in the beefer 2024 let's go baby take care brother cheers bro thank you
