0:01Hard work doesn't automatically equal fast growth. What actually accelerates success is not just effort but leverage. So what I want to talk to you today about is scaling faster through mentorship and those lessons that every entrepreneur and leader really needs to learn. So hello, everyone. Jeanette Linfoot here. I am absolutely delighted that you're listening in, whether this is on YouTube, whether you're maybe listening in on the podcast. Welcome all. Or you might actually be watching a few clips on social media. There are so many ways that we can reach each other these days, aren't there? So welcome, everyone.

0:43Great to see you all. Now, let me ask you this. First of all, have you ever felt like your business growth is moving in slow motion? You know, you're putting in the hours, the effort, the energy, yet the results just don't seem to match the grind. Well, here's the truth. Hard work doesn't automatically equal fast growth. What actually accelerates success is not just effort, but leverage. And one of the most powerful forms of leverage in business is mentorship. So today we are going to dive deep into this idea around mentorship being the accelerator pedal for entrepreneurs, CEOs and business leaders.

1:28And it really is how you compress years of trial and error into months of progress. It's how you avoid costly mistakes and unlock doors, you know, that actually would otherwise stay closed. I am a massive believer in mentoring.

1:47Jeannette:I have had multiple mentors throughout the course of my professional life and career, different mentors at different times that have always helped me scale up. And of course, today, I'm actually a business mentor myself to founders, entrepreneurs, corporate executives that really want to get to that next level. So working with me for 12 months in depth, you actually you're not buying my time. You are getting 30 plus years of business experience, all of that knowledge, all of those connections and a real honest view of the highs, the lows and some of the pitfalls. So I will have made mistakes so that you don't have to.

2:32So I am hugely passionate about this subject. It's something and I love working one to one with people. If you really need a mentor and you're looking to scale up and you feel that I would be the right fit for you, then give me a call. Drop me an email. Don't sit there in silence because honestly, having the right mentor in your corner is going to fast track your development and your growth.

2:57Jeannette:So by the end of this episode, what you're going to know, you're going to have a really clear understanding of why mentorship is the fastest growth strategy that most leaders often overlook. You're going to understand the lessons that mentors teach Which experience alone never reveals And how you can actually harness mentorship to scale your business Scale your department, scale your team faster and smarter So before we dive in, I would love to hear from you in the chat If you're actually watching us on social media Or send us an email to info at brave-bold-brilliant.com You know, and let us know if you had a mentor right now, what's the number one challenge you want help with so we can understand some of the things that are going on in your world.

3:51Jeannette:Now, having a mentor opens doors. It connects people, right? When I work with people, I bring my little black book, right? And it allows me to really add value and to really help people that, you know, that I work with get to that next level. So when it comes to connections, let's not forget the power of networking. Let's not forget that actually human to human relationships are absolutely critical. So if we are not connected, let's get connected. OK, on social media, you'll find me, Jeanette Linfoot, across all the platforms, two N's and two T's in Jeanette. And of course, you'll find our Brave Bob Brilliant business pages in LinkedIn, social, in Instagram, you name it, all across social media.

4:39And check out our website, www.brave-bold-brilliant.com, because that is also where you're going to find stacks of resources, inspiration to allow you to scale up faster. So we're here to help.

4:55Jeannette:We really are. Now, the thing is, there's a cost of growing alone. Right. Now, let's be honest. Leadership, entrepreneurship, it can feel like walking through a maze blindfolded. You know, you try one path, you might hit a dead end. You pivot, you try again, another dead end. Eventually, you'll figure it out. But of course, you're going to waste time, money, energy in that process. You know, and I've seen business leaders and entrepreneurs pour years into strategies and businesses that really were doomed from the start simply because they didn't have someone to guide them early on. So let's make sure that's not you.

5:36You know, when I think back to my own journey, there were moments really where a single piece of advice saved me wasting months of time. You know, one mentor once told me, Jeanette, don't chase opportunities that don't align with your vision. They'll drain more than they give.

5:52Jeannette:You know, and that single sentence redirected a major business decision for me and the payoff was enormous. So, you know, it's a very real topic we're talking about here. This is not textbook. This is not fantasy. This is real business advice where the rubber hits the road. So the lesson growing alone is a slow route. Mentorship is the shortcut. It's the fastest way to scale up and get where you want to be. And, you know, so why why mentorship? Why does it why does it scale you faster? Well, you know, it's actually because it's the one strategy that multiplies your growth instead of just adding to it You know, so just a couple of reasons why mentorship is going to help you go faster It collapses time Mentors show you the path they've already walked so you don't waste energy reinventing the wheel, right?

6:50Jeannette:It sharpens your strategy Any mentor with his or her soul will help you cut through the noise and distractions, helping you focus only on what moves the needle. Protect your energy. This is a big one, right? It's hard. It's exhausting. It's lonely. Leading a team, leading a business. You know, it's difficult and it can drain you sometimes. Have you ever felt like that where, you know, you're really excited about an initiative, but you get further into it and it's much more difficult. The numbers aren't coming in. The sales aren't coming in. Someone on the team isn't performing as you would like them to.

7:30You make some bad business deals that don't pay off. Maybe you invest in something that doesn't give you the returns you were hoping for. It is hard. It can take a lot of your energy. Whereas when you have a mentor, someone that is by your side in your corner. And this is what I do. I live and breathe these values. You know, it actually avoids you making those unnecessary mistakes.

7:54Jeannette:You know, putting resources into scaling instead of repairing, for example. So it's so important. If you think about athletes, no Olympic runner shows up without a coach, do they? They don't just train harder, they train smarter because someone is guiding their technique, their recovery, their mindset. And business is no different. CEOs and business leaders with mentors outperform because they're not learning everything the hard way. They're being smart about it and having a mentor in their corner, you know, and the reality is that, you know, lessons, experience, it can't teach alone. Now, so, you know, lessons only mentorship reveals, you know, the power of perspective.

8:43Jeannette:You might see obstacles as roadblocks. A mentor might see them as opportunities in disguise. Right. You know, the courage to take risks. Mentors often encourage those bold moves, you know, that you might be hesitating on because they've seen the reward on the other side. They have a lived experience of, you know, how you could make this work. You know, and those subtle skills of leadership, things like your presence, emotional intelligence, gravitas and influence, they're not taught in books. They're modelled in real time by mentors who've mastered them. You know, so it's so important that you, you know, you can't always see the picture when you're in the frame.

9:26You know, mentors help you step outside the frame and suddenly the picture becomes clearer, doesn't it? When you can take that different perspective rather than being sucked down into the weeds. So mentorship, super, super powerful. And, you know, what's the mentorship and the CEO mindset? Well, as a CEO or founder, mentorship becomes even more vital because the challenges scale with you. You know, you're not just solving problems for yourself anymore. You're solving them for your team, your clients, your investors, your entire ecosystem and all those stakeholders that you have to manage. And here's the reality.

10:06You know, one mistake at that level, it doesn't just cost money. It can cost trust, reputation, future opportunities.

10:13Jeannette:And mentorship minimizes those risks by helping you think ahead at least three steps. You know, some of the fastest scaling founders that I've seen, they don't just have one mentor, actually. They build what I call almost like a mentor boardroom. And I've done this myself, actually, with different mentors, different expertise. One might help with scaling operations, another with financial strategy, maybe another around your leadership style. And that creates that powerful 360 degree safety net around those CEOs, those business leaders that take that approach. So it's such a smart way to really scale up.

10:56Jeannette:So let's just now jump into, you know, where the rubber hits the road. How can you leverage mentorship for faster results? And, you know, here are some of the practical steps. steps, right? So write them down or listen back a few times if you need to. But the first one is be intentional. Don't just find a mentor, find the right mentor for the specific challenge you're facing. Now, if you need any advice on this, whether you want to be mentored by me or by somebody else, I can give you the right guidelines in a more detailed way than we have time for here today on this particular episode on how to find your perfect mentor you must do your due diligence you must be clear on what it is you want where you need support what kind of personality you're looking to work with are you looking to work with someone in your industry maybe or actually could be someone from a different sector because you want a fresh perspective so have a really hard think about what you want from a mentor before you even go out having conversations do your due diligence there must be the trust there must be a strong fit secondly ask better questions you know instead of what should i do ask what would you do differently if you were in my position for example and then the thing about mentorship is you know you can have the best mentor in the world but ultimately you've got to take the action and you need to take fast action so the value of mentorship it comes not from listening but implementing and implementing at speed so that you don't waste time you know speed of execution really is the secret sauce now the fourth area is a great mentor helps you keep accountable you know you've got to update your mentor on progress You know, if you know you've got a mentoring session, you don't want to turn up empty handed having done nothing since the last session.

12:57Jeannette:You know, it gives you that extra push, that accountability. So a mentor will push harder when they see that you're serious about applying their wisdom. You know, the faster you act, the faster mentorship compounds the power of incremental gains. Remember, one percent better today equals 37 times better by the end of the year. How cool is that? So there's no time to waste. But having that trusted person, that trusted advisor by your side, honestly, it makes such a difference. So I'd love to hear from you. You know, what's going on in your world? You know, what's the one mistake you wish you'd avoided earlier in your business journey?

13:42Jeannette:Write it down, share it with us. How might a mentor have helped you prevent it? And you know what? If you could have a mentor in one specific area right now, maybe it's funding, strategy, leadership, marketing, which would you choose? We're here to help. So it's so important, all of this. I'm really passionate about it. But the last thought I wanted to share with you is one of the most beautiful parts of mentorship is how it comes full circle. You know, as you scale, you become the mentor for others, whether it's your team, your colleagues, your peer group, other people you care about in your life.

14:22And here's the twist. When you teach, you grow even faster yourself. You know, explaining your journey to someone else clarifies your own thinking, reinforces your wisdom.

14:34Jeannette:You know, I've seen leaders transform not just through being mentored, but through becoming mentors themselves. It really is the dual engine of growth. So receive the guidance, then give it. That's how businesses and legacies scale at the same time. So, so, so powerful. I'm super excited about this topic. I would love to work with you if you think you are ready to scale up. Right. You've got to be ready to actually make that move. so if you're interested in mentorship drop me a line let's have a conversation you know and you know i might not be the right person for you and that is absolutely fine but i'll be able to give you some advice and guidance as to how you can find the right mentor for you so let's have a conversation you know but let's just wrap this up a few closing thoughts for you you know growing alone is slow and lonely you know mentorship is fast and more fun and has a safe person to be confidentially talking about the important things with you know mentorship it's the ultimate growth accelerator because it compresses years of mistakes into minutes of wisdom sharpens your strategy strengthens your leadership expands your opportunities you know so entrepreneurs business leaders and CEOs who scale fastest are not the ones who work the hardest.

15:59Jeannette:They're the ones who learn the smartest through mentorship. So here's my challenge to you. If you don't yet have a mentor, make it your mission this month to find one. And if you do have a mentor, commit to acting faster on their guidance. That's where the real acceleration happens.
