Good morning, good morning. So today we are talking about vision without burnout. And this really is the new blueprint for sustainable success. So hello everyone, it's Jeanette and I want to start today with a bit of honesty because let's face it, there's a lot of BS out there and we live in a world where ambition, it really is glorified and hustle is praised and somehow burnout seems to have become a rite of passage for success. you know we're often told that you know if we just want it badly enough or we work hard enough or we stay up late enough we'll get there but here's what I've learned after years in corporate leadership entrepreneurship and of course with the businesses and the individuals that I mentor at every stage of business growth so this is what I've learned you know burnout it's not a badge of honour, it's actually a warning sign.
1:16And if we want to build something that lasts, something which is truly meaningful, something that feeds our purpose and our well-being, well we need a new blueprint. And that's what we're going to talk about today. Now it's not just vision, it's not just rest, but it's really the art of holding both of those, of dreaming big without driving yourself into the ground. You know, of creating impact, but at the same time protecting your energy. You know it's about being ambitious but without becoming exhausted and that really is a new success and we're talking about sustainable success. So I'm going to walk you through three powerful shifts that can really help you get there.
2:00Now these are shifts that I've had to make in my own life and business and they're shifts that I support my clients with through every single day. So I promise you, when you master these, it's not that you just feel better, you actually lead better, you grow better, you live better. So we're going to dive in in a minute. So as I always recommend, grab a pen and paper. It's useful to write these things down. And you know, we're all here at Brave Bold Brilliant to support each other. We're creating an amazing community of like-minded people, leaders, business owners, entrepreneurs, corporate execs, senior managers, junior leaders, all here to help each other step up and be the best version of ourselves.
2:51And we do that through connections, through meaningful connections. So if you're not connected with me on social media, please let's get connected. You'll find me, Jeanette Linfoot, with two N's and two T's on all the social media platforms Facebook Instagram LinkedIn TikTok and also we have our Brave Bold Brilliant business pages as well on LinkedIn Facebook Instagram and YouTube and as well as that as you know we have our podcast Brave Bold Brilliant and we this week have been celebrating our fifth anniversary of Brave Bold Brilliant which we're super proud of You know, we have spoken with hundreds of incredible business leaders.
3:36The podcast is in the top one and a half percent of all podcasts in the world. And we're listened to in over 140 countries. So, you know, we're here to help guide support. So let's get connected. Subscribe. Hit that subscribe button. And the reason I'm saying that is you're going to get notified when we go live with a new episode. you're going to get notified when I do little, you know, live sessions like this on YouTube and across social media. So let's get connected and stay subscribed because it's going to help you. And then, of course, if you are maybe earlier on in your journey and you haven't got a lot of cash in the business, you're bootstrapping maybe a startup, you know, having free resources really helps.
4:18Let's be honest. If it's free, give it me. so you know head to www.brave-bold-brilliant.com and go to the learning hub and in there you're going to find loads of resources you can download videos blogs you name it it's stacks there for you to take and implement into your business into your job straight away so don't miss out so let's get back into this because this is so important isn't it we're ambitious we want to do the best we can but how you do it is a choice okay so as I say I'm going to take you through these three shifts that are gonna really help you super simple you know me by now I like eat I like simple stuff that has maximum impact so let's get into this and as I say it's useful to make some notes but of course you can listen back to this you know listen back on the podcast whether it's on Apple Podcasts or Spotify and it'll really help you.
5:18So we're here to support each other. So let's get into this. Shift one. Now this is about moving really from that constant drive to actually discernment. And what do I mean by that? Well you know many of us were taught that success is about constant motion, more goals, more output, more visibility, more, more, more, more, more. and I've been guilty of that. I still have to work on these three shifts myself in the business that businesses that I have in the portfolio and with the clients that I advise and support with their strategy growth turnaround and creating high-performing teams but here's the thing more more more more more doesn't necessarily actually achieve what you want to achieve.
6:02sustainable success is really what we're talking about and that starts with knowing when to move and when to pause when to say yes and when to say no when to push forward and when to just like let something go it's not the right thing it's not the right time so discernment is a leadership superpower it really is and it means choosing your actions based on strategy not stress alignment not anxiety so just think about this you know ask yourself are you acting from intention or just from habit you know are you really working towards your vision or are you reacting to everyone else's so what I invite you to do this week take 20 minutes to review your current commitments I do this regularly I have a clear out regularly and I'm not just talking about your work tasks but talking about your emotional bandwidth as well you know where's your energy going does it reflect your deepest priorities are you actually matching your highest energy points of the day with your most important priorities.
7:19I often see this with the business leaders that I advise. You know, they might have a set routine and sometimes that is dictated by the organisation. We don't always have pure control over our schedules and our diaries when there are other stakeholders involved. But whenever you can, match your highest energy with your most important work and one of the things that I do when I work with people one-to-one is I ask them to keep a 28-day log now that sounds like a long time but it really isn't it allows you to look at the month and during that 28-day log each day you note down the activity you've been doing was it work was it social was it an income generating task was it a key result area or were you wasting time so what kind of activity it is and so you note down the activity and what kind of category it is and then make a note in terms of how was your energy you know were you lethargic and a bit sluggish were you actually sort of steady were you quite energized or were you on fire you know sometimes you're just on fire aren't you and like you just get through loads of stuff your energy is really positive and then over that 28 days you stop at the end of it and you just reflect what are the patterns are you tash jumping are you actually doing your most important work at a time when it's just not good energy for you so it really does allow you to take that step back and look at what you're doing you know and and in all honesty if you're not matching that then something needs to shift because you know being busy it really is not the same as being impactful and being driven it doesn't mean driving yourself into the ground so that is the first shift that I have made and I continue to make because we all have to be work in progress you've got to work on yourself every single day um so I believe in this I know it works and it certainly helps all the clients and the businesses and the executive teams that I lead.
9:31So shift number two. Now this is about going from that, you know, that hustle culture and you get a lot of it on social media, right? We need to shift from being hustling to actually more of a rhythm, right? Get into a good rhythm. You know, we've all heard that mantra, rise and grind, but what if we replaced grind with rhythm. You know, the most successful people I know, they don't run at 100 % every day. They're moving waves, you know, just like the ocean, just like the sea, in, out. They know when to surge. They know when to step back. They plan for rest the same way they plan for launches or strategy.
10:13You know, in the hustle culture, it tells us to keep going until we break. but the rhythm culture that tells us to build in rest before we break so ask yourself what is your rhythm right now are you respecting your natural energy cycles or overriding them with caffeine and pressure you know what would it look like for you to build a business cadence that allows for both focus and recovery now that might mean you know designing your week to include blank spaces You know, I protect time in my diary. I call it white space. And I protect that time for thinking without an agenda sometimes. You know, so that might be one full day each month for you.
11:00It might be a Friday afternoon, whatever it is for you. But you've got to let go of that guilt around slowing down. And I am talking to myself as well, by the way, because I am a million miles an hour a lot of the time. and that has cost me that cost that cost has cost me my health quite recently where I ended up having to have gallbladder surgery and it believe me it was not a good place to be and a lot of that was stress related I believe so it's a responsibility it's part of your job as a visionary leader you know when you lead from a place of wholeness you don't just do more you actually become more you know become a better leader you become more creative maybe more grounded more available to the people that you serve rather than never having time for quality conversations so that's shift number two shift number three so here we want to go from just having a vision great to have a vision but if you only have a vision without the vitality behind it and the strategy as to how you're going to achieve it then it's just a nice presentation deck you know big visions they're beautiful they light us up you have a big vision have a big goal they give us a direction they do pull us forward it's compelling but you need a vision you know that actually allows you to take the action without you getting depleted you know if your mind's foggy your relationships are strained it doesn't matter how exciting your goals are you know you're just not going to have the capacity to sustain them so vitality is the foundation that supports your dreams it's your physical energy your mental clarity your emotional resilience your connection to a greater power a greater being if that's if you're quite a spiritual person whatever it is for you so you want to check in with yourself and this sounds like so obvious that it really is so obvious but why do we not do it then you know are you sleeping well are you getting up you're moving your body you're getting some training in or taking some active moves you're making space you know for some joyful relaxed play you know you're connecting with the people who nourish you or you're neglecting friendships and those important relationships now this isn't extra this is the work because again when you protect your energy you amplify your impact right so you've got to build that vitality into your business plan build it into your schedule build it into So your leadership and your future self, honestly, is going to thank you.
13:38So I appreciate I've covered quite a lot here. So let's just take a pause. Let's breathe. One of my amazing clients, Duncan O 'Rourke, he is the CEO of the premium mid-scale economy brands for Accor Hotels. And they are a huge organisation, a big French listed business. I've been working with Duncan and his team for the last three years at an executive level. You know, and Duncan has 180 ,000 people on his team. He's the CEO of this incredible part of the world, Middle East, Asia, Pacific for Accor Hotels. And when I interviewed Duncan for the podcast, check out his episode because it's fantastic.
14:17But actually, he talks about this a lot. He said, let's just breathe. Just breathe. How simple, but how true. So let's just breathe. Let's just recap. You don't have to choose between your ambition and your well-being. you know you don't have to sacrifice your health for your goals in fact you absolutely mustn't and you certainly don't have to keep operating at full speed just to prove that you're serious or that you're good enough you are already enough you can hold big dreams and those boundaries that will keep you true you can scale your business but also honor your nervous system and your energy levels you can lead powerfully but still be peacefully in your own skin and that's really what we're here to do so I'm just going to give you a little bit of an exercise a bit of a reflection so after you've watched this or maybe you've listened back you might have listened to it on the podcast you might have watched it on YouTube you might have watched it live on social media platforms that we're on just take I would say 15 to 30 minutes just for you grab a notebook big believer in writing things down I am put your phone on silent remove all your distractions and just answer these simple questions so write them down where am I pushing too hard right now So number one.
15:40Number two, what do I need to release to come back into alignment? What have I got to let go to create space? Yeah. Number three, what would sustainable success look like for me? Not based on anyone else's definition mind, for you. And then choose one thing that you can shift this week. just one maybe it's a boundary you need to put in place could be a morning routine could be an evening routine maybe it's giving yourself permission to rest you know so this is really about you creating your new blueprint for leadership vision without vitality success without sacrifice you know and it's a choice to be here watching this listening to this choosing to lead from alignment not exhaustion you know for rewriting what success looks and feels like so you know i'm a massive believer that we only have one life let's make it count we want to make an impact we want to always be more do more achieve more and that's great let's do it in the right way and remember it is by being brave and bold that you are going to unlock your brilliant i really hope you've enjoyed this episode of brave bold brilliant remember check out our new website www.brave-bold-brilliant.com you're going to find loads of resources on there that's going to help you with your leadership journey and with the businesses that you're trying to scale up and grow so take care everyone and remember there are no limits to your growth but it is by being brave and bold that you're going to unlock your brilliant

Jeannette talks about achieving sustainable success without succumbing to burnout, candidly discussing the glorification of hustle culture and the misconception that burnout is a badge of honour
Jeannette explains why:
It's essential to recognise burnout as a warning sign that indicates the need for a new approach to success
Sustainable success involves knowing when to take action and when to pause.
Discernment, which is a leadership superpower, helps align actions with strategic goals rather than reacting out of stress.
Instead of adhering to a hustle culture that glorifies constant work, adopt a rhythm that includes periods of rest and recovery.
Successful individuals plan for rest just as they plan for work, allowing for a more balanced approach to productivity.
A compelling vision must be supported by vitality, which includes physical energy, mental clarity, and emotional resilience
