3:13Alright guys. Welcome back. Yeah. Special episode. We got family in the building. Family is here. Got us up early in the morning. It's very rare. You couldn't tell by the looks on their faces though. Thank you. Thanks. They look spry and ready to go. Y 'all look ready for sure. I'm not really a morning person. Really? I thought y 'all were. That's why we did this so early. I was like, why do they do this? I know they mean business. Nah, because, you know, a part of it was I heard that you guys show up late. And I'm like, they've never shown up late for anything we've done. Let's just put them to the test.
3:45And y 'all came here right on time. Nobody told you that. What? Nobody told you that. We are very punctual. You are. Obviously, you are. You're doing a little better. Slightly. It's getting better. Well we debunked the rumor Okay period You're here on time So Drea and Lex From Poor Minds But now They have a new show Called Travel Queens On BET Plus Correct? It's on BET Her BET Her BET Her Okay So We're gonna talk about You know All you guys have done As far as In the podcast space And touring And now with the New Deal And everything that you got going on Congratulations Building a community fan base so yeah first and foremost congratulations thank you congratulations is in order that's a fact when we first heard the news of it the first thing I was just like I gotta congratulate y 'all both because we've watched this I mean we've been around each other for a while and we've watched it grow from the apartment floor to a little room with the black wall to the studio to now y 'all got a show on BET it's incredible so congratulations definitely in order I forgot you did hit us in the group chat that's a fact it's kind of like it's surreal You know what I'm saying?
4:55Like you said, coming from the apartment and stuff. And I always knew we had a vision of what we wanted to do. But honestly, to have the opportunity to do a show that has like kind of honestly nothing to do with poor minds. You know, every time we see podcasters get a show, which is still a hard feat to do, it's always like a branch off of the podcast that they have. So the fact that they trusted us with such a huge project that has absolutely nothing to do with potting is like crazy. So talk about, all right. So for the audience that may not be totally familiar, let's go through the journey. So you guys are friends from Texas.
5:31And then you started a show, right? Poor Minds. Then you got with the 85 South crew. Yeah. And that kind of just expanded the reach, right? Right. And you guys talk about all kinds of different topics that are relevant to women. Yeah. Right. And you've built a tremendous fan base. and you've reached a point where you start to take on things outside of the normal, what people might normally think of you of. So how does a travel show for BET come into place? Okay, so basically one of our friends, she actually does a lot of contract work with BET and the production company Coco Butter had been reaching out to us, telling us that they wanted us to, they wanted to consider us for a travel show.
6:17So it was like us and maybe like two other bestie brand groups that they were considering. So we had to audition for it. We did the audition. Maybe a week later or two weeks later, we found out that we got it. And then we ended up starting. I think we started recording with a month after that. And we recorded the whole show in two weeks. So the production company reached out to us and then we started getting in communication with them in BET. Yeah. Yeah. How does that feel to do something that's so, you know, it's interesting. Like people watch you on your show. And they think that's all you are.
6:49But y 'all been friends for a long time. Y 'all been traveling for a long time. How does it feel to show people another side of what who Dre and Lex really are? It's really cool because, like she said, it was kind of like they auditioned other people, but they were like, we really wanted y 'all. Like, we see the chemistry that y 'all have on Poor Minds. And I think with we have I like to call Poor Minds like a lifestyle podcast because we talk about so much. and but I mean y 'all know how it is when you're in the podcasting world people tend to look at you like a one-trick pony like okay they're good at the gender war stuff and they can talk about sex or they can talk about music but that's all they can do so the like I said the fact that they were like oh they be outside like we travel for real for real like we've been so many places together like we went to London last year and we were working out there we went out there for like a week and a half and i mean we've been to turks together we've been to jamaica like abiza abiza like we really be traveling together so it's like it was cool to know that they really kind of did our their research on us because they're like okay they're perfect they're best friends and they travel and i think me and dreya are so like um layered there's so much to us it really we really like that word i like the word i think that a lot of times they see us and they just think oh that's all they can do.
8:07So the fact that you can literally, because obviously my nephews can't watch Poor Minds, but they can watch Travel Queens. Yeah. So I love the fact that like my nephews can watch me now. You know what I'm saying? Younger girls like high school can watch Travel Queens and they can be motivated and, you know, see the possibilities of what you can do in this space. And I think it just gives more insight to our real life friendship too. Yeah. Because the cameras are there, but we're really just being ourselves versus On Poor Minds. I mean, we're being ourselves on there as well, but these are topics that we've already planned to talk about.
8:43It's just more structured, I feel like, versus a reality TV show. It's like, no, we just being ourselves, and the cameras are following us around. So how many cities are you going to? Is it like a 10-episode thing? How does that work, though? So this first season actually was four episodes. So we went to Cartagena. We went to Mexico City, Charleston, and then we went to Key West. And so hopefully, fingers crossed, we get a second season. It's probably going to be like 10, 12 episodes. Yeah. So you know how the pilot season is. Let's see if y 'all really got a fan base. But I think it's doing pretty well.
9:20We have been engaging with our audience and stuff. And the feedback has been amazing. I was really nervous because I didn't know how they were going to edit it. Because honestly, we are watching it on Wednesdays with them. Like we haven't seen, like when we were on the flight out here, we were on the plane watching it. So I didn't know how they were going to edit it because a lot of times you see a show and you don't like somebody and then they do the reunion or something. They're like, they didn't show this. They didn't show that. But they edited so well, like it really captured our personality.
9:51So how involved in the process were you guys in terms of naming the show, picking the locations? Because even I've been pronouncing Cartagena the wrong way the entire time. I'm hearing you pronounce it. And I'm like, oh, that's how it's pronounced. So did they have those cities picked out for you already? Or did you guys have M-square? It's Cartagena, right? I was on the show saying it wrong. Cartagena is Fat Joe's last night. Yo, that's what I'm saying. Cartagena. I grow up, you listen to Fat Joe. Cartagena, Cartagena. Don Cartagena. And I'm like, oh, Cartagena. Yeah. And I'm hearing you. I'm like, yo, I've been saying it wrong the whole time.
10:25I'm country. I be saying everything wrong. So I was there. It was like people in the comments like, dang, y 'all could have taught her how to say the word before she went out there. Right. I was like, y 'all, it's true. Okay, we learned along the way. That makes it authentic. Yeah. But, yeah, we really weren't involved in the process too much. They already had the CDs picked out, and they were just like, okay, this is where y 'all going. Yeah. But we're hoping for, like I said, the second season and upcoming seasons that we can be more involved in the process. Because we actually want to do, like, you know, Travel Queens Africa, Travel Queens Europe, and actually be in different locations each season.
10:56I think what's dope about it is that each city, and there's a travel component to it, but there's an educational component to it. And I was watching the Charleston episode, and it felt like we're learning with the audience, but y 'all learning too. So how was that, right? Were you super intentional about that? Did the producers say, like, we have this piece, what do you guys think? How was that for y 'all? Well, these places we've never been before. The only place that I had been was Key West. So a lot of the stuff, they were like, okay, well, how do y 'all feel about this? Well, this is what we're doing.
11:30And we were really curious. Like, we had never been to Charleston. I didn't know Charleston was like that at all. So honestly, they were like, okay, y 'all are going to go to the plantation. And all the questions that we were asking, like, those were questions that we really had. So it was kind of like a mixture of both. They would just, like, throw us in this situation. And they were like, okay, the cameras are rolling. Do y 'all thing. So they kind of really let us have the creative freedom when it came to asking questions, conversations me and her were having with each other. That was really all us.
11:59But as far as like the locations and stuff we were doing, it was, they picked all the stuff because we probably would have had them in the strip club. But I was excited. But I was excited because like she said, she had been to Key West before. I had never even been to Key West. I hadn't been to any of those places before. I had been to Columbia, but I went to Medaim before, not Cardaina. So, So, okay. So how does this work as far as like the business side? Like, was there certain points that you had to negotiate in dealing with like a major television network? Like, it's a lot different than having like an independent type of vibe on a podcast.
12:36Yeah, this was our first time doing anything with like a major network like this, especially like BET. So, yeah, it was things that we had to work out. But honestly, we are so not like, it's a blessing that we're in the position that we make a lot of money with poor minds. so we're able to go in these situations and like be fair we're not like oh yeah we finna run it up and because we understand it's the first season and it's more so about like the exposure what we can do i mean we got paid you know well of course but we had our lawyers come in it worked out amazing um so i think that that's more important in this space is like making good connections being easy to work with because they could have picked anybody from the travel channel that's been doing stuff like this.
13:19So, working out those deal points, I mean, obviously, we're signed to 85. So, Chad and the team, Carlos and all them, they've done TV and stuff before. So, they had a great lawyer. So, it was a really smooth transition because everything happened so quick. So, it was like, we kind of got the contract. They were like, okay, let's fix this and fix that. And they were really easy with giving us, you know, everything that we wanted. So, it was actually a really, really smooth transition. Shout out to our lawyer, Josh. He did the same. Hey, Josh. so how do you you said how do podcasters make money like you guys have a successful podcast how do they I always wondered that I never really knew oh you know right you don't know I don't know please enlighten us how do podcasters make money newcomers this is this is earn your leisure so we gotta let the people know so I mean we make money a few different ways we make money obviously from ad revenue we make money from streams on YouTube.
14:16We also have a Patreon. We make money with Patreon. We used to sell merch, but we don't really sell merch as much anymore, but that used to be a stream of income that we had. And I'm trying to think of my name. Live shows? Live shows, but we haven't toured in like two years. Yeah, like hosting events, stuff like that. Do you have products? I have a cosmetics business, but we don't have anything with Poor Minds together currently, but we used to sell hoodies and wrap tees. We have like the little wine stoppers and stuff like that. Like we really like ramp up like the merch stuff whenever we were touring, things like that.
14:47But like she said, those are our main sources of income. And we did an e-book as well. Because, I mean, we get so many questions of like, oh, how do I start a podcast? What do I need? But it wasn't just like the typical e-book, like, okay, get a camera. It was like, I was legit giving actual websites that we use. Oh, if you want to make some ad revenue, you can sign your podcast up with this audio, this source. We did the course too, so you can actually get the bundle. Like, if you're somebody who's more of a visual learner, you could watch the e-course. Or if, you know, you're somebody that needs to look at a book, we have the...
15:21Yeah. Look at y 'all. And then we stepped, like I said, we stepped into the hosting space. We did, you know, we did the Earn Your Leisure Festival. Invest Fest. Invest Fest. And then we did Essence Festival. We did Essence, yeah. Yeah, we're so good. Yeah. BET Awards. BET Awards, yeah. We did the Media House last year. so I think like I said when you're getting into podcasting the actual show you can make a lot of revenue from but the outside things that you do outside of just sitting on the couch and being in front of the mic is like so it's using your influence to get money from answering absolutely I mean even now we get money from Facebook TikTok it's like a lot of stuff that's what I was forgetting social media platforms there's a ticket going on on the streams y 'all just named we're about at 11 yeah multiple streams is important in the ad space I know like when people are starting the podcast, that's very important, right?
16:12It's probably one of the first sources of income you're going to have. Based on your topic, do you guys ever feel limited, right? Because sometimes there's only a certain level or a certain category of ad client that's looking to put things on your show, right? Whereas if you have more of a board-based topic, it leaves it open for a lot more categories. Have you guys ever felt that way when it comes to the ad spends? You know what? No, not really, to be honest. Like, I feel like a lot of different companies want to work with us. Like, we've never really had that issue. But we do know some people in the podcasting space that have told us that they've had that issue because they might have, like, a sex-based podcast.
16:50But we've never really had that problem. I mean, sometimes we get asked, I'm like, they want to work with us? Yeah. It'll be the most random. It'll be so random. Like, manscaped. Yeah, like, manscaping. Like, all that stuff. Like, it'll be like, but it works. Yeah. Like, if they renew the contract, I'm like, oh, y 'all must be clicking on them. Bluetooth. Bluetooth. you and I'm like do men really watch the show right women are buying it for their men yeah I don't think y 'all will be limited because you're not like you said you're not a sex-based podcast like we have a segment but it's not the whole entire show you know I think people think that sometimes just because of the clips that are cut from the show be like the sex topic so then before people actually come and watch the show I think they assume that it's a sex yeah or it's a female based show men might not be watching but that could actually be the opposite right and I think it's really crazy with these ad companies as well because like you said, you just never know what we're going to get and what people want to work with us because honestly, being that we're so heavily with the women crowd, we don't get a lot of beauty ads.
17:47Yeah. Like a lot of makeup stuff, like hair stuff. We really don't get a lot of stuff like that. We had one fashion company where like you could have like a subscription service to get clothes like one time. But most of the stuff is really like food. Food stuff. Mental health. Mental health stuff. of stuff like that you know what i mean but i'm like yeah so how have you guys been able to build your community because you got like a loyal fan base yeah supporters um you have a name for them right poor the poor crew oh you are so how how because a lot of people create content but then everybody doesn't have like a community yeah so like what's some of the ways that you've actually been able to cultivate and keep that community together i feel like one of the major ways and we always say these one of the major ways that we've been able to build such a large community is that for the first few years that we started doing Poor Minds, we never had guests on the show because we always wanted to make sure we were building a fan base of people who wanted to see us every week.
18:45I feel like a lot of the time when people start off having huge guests on their show weekly, the week that you don't have a guest, the viewership falls off. So we wanted to make sure we were cultivating a space and a community of people that no matter who we had on the show, they still going to watch. So I feel like that was a major key. and another major one is we talk to our listeners like everybody acts like they too good to take 20 30 minutes and just respond to comment you know talk back to people like I still do that I engage with my listeners because I just started a new you channel youtube channel called love lexp so I do like hot topics on there and I'm like y 'all hashtag love lexp so we can talk about it together you know what I'm saying I think the engagement of feeling like you know what Lex and Dre are cool.
19:28I can talk to them. If I tweet poor minds, they're going to tweet me back. So I think it's like not feeling like you are a celebrity. You know what I'm saying? And really engaging with your audience helps a lot. We do that with Travel Queens too. We live tweet every week on Twitter when Travel Queens is on. I was wondering, right? That community that you build, it obviously helps when Travel Queens is about to debut and people are supporting it. But when you guys had the debut for it, there was just like an overwhelming sense of emotion that I watched from y 'all. I was like, this is interesting.
20:00Talk about what that felt like in that moment to watch yourself on a big screen and your fans and your family there with you. That was the first time we watched the episode. And I think like in that moment, it really just kind of like hit me. And I'm like looking at it, I'm like, we really did that. Because even while we were filming, it was like we were working. And I think in that moment, it hit us because honestly getting the party, the premiere party together, getting ready for everything, finding outfits and just hair, makeup, all this stuff. We didn't really get to sit. So in that moment, I was like, oh my gosh, like we really have a TV show.
20:36You was booing. Yeah. She was holding it together. I was trying, but honestly, I feel like it hit me at that moment as well because when we were filming the show, I definitely felt like, oh my God, we're about to have a TV show. But that day, all of our friends being present, all of our family being present, seeing it on the big screen at the venue, I was just like, wow. Because we didn't know how it was going to look. I didn't know if it was going to look like a little tubie, bootleg. We didn't know what it was going to look like. And I'm like, oh, they got us looking real like professional. You know what I'm saying?
21:07It was looking like, you know, Gordon Ramsay up there. Yeah. Gordon Ramsay. You know what I'm saying? So they said like, the food spots were done really tastefully. Yeah. And I think I like the balance between like, yes, you can go to a five-star restaurant, but it's the local spots. sometimes that you got to check when you travel. Yeah. So there's a fine balance between the luxury spend and the everyday spend. Yep. Do you guys are like, as you're going through it and you're filming a show, are you, are you realizing how this is going to impact travel for girls that look like y 'all? Um, honestly, in that, and while we were doing it, I was like, yeah, because I was realizing, I'm like, why we ain't never came here?
21:47Like when we went to Mexico city, I'm like, girl, why we ain't never came here? And it's not far. It's like a two hour flight from Atlanta. Right. And then it's like, There's such a large expat community of black people out there. So I'm like, I know that we didn't know this. So I know the people watching the show didn't know this. I mean, people have already been tweeting us like, oh my gosh, I want to go to Mexico City. I want to go to Charleston. You know what I'm saying? So definitely 100 % because I feel like we don't travel enough. You know what I'm saying? We don't get out of our comfort zone because a lot of times, especially as women, black women, we're afraid because we don't know what's safe for us and what's not.
22:21so I think showing people the different sides of these cities and like you can go and have a good time whether you want to do a vacation or a girls trip like you got to make it out the group chat and it's affordable like a lot of the stuff that we did it wasn't like you spending three bands a night and stuff it was just like you know going to an R &B night in Mexico City you know what I'm saying like an all black R &B night an all black R &B night like you can do that in your city but why not go do it in Mexico City so like alright black women are make up a lot of travelers. There's a whole, there's groups that's dedicated for travel for black women, travel noir, all that type stuff.
23:00Dubai, I know they put a major emphasis in targeting black women. So I'm assuming this is all related to like why BET wanted to have you guys because there's a lot of black women that already travel, right? Yeah. So, okay. Do you feel that this highlights what is already being done as far as black women traveling? Or do you feel like this could potentially open people's ideas of who travelers are? Because sometimes, even though black women travel a lot, they may not be looked at as like a typical tourist. Right. So like, do you have that level of thought process when you're traveling to these different countries that you're actually like representing a whole group of people?
23:45Oh, go ahead. No, I was just going to say for sure, I definitely think it's going to open people's eyes to the fact that Black women are traveling a lot. And then, like you said, it can be budget-friendly because I think sometimes, especially people looking at us, probably y 'all too, when y 'all travel, like they're assuming, oh, okay, they make money. It's probably going to be really expensive, the things that they're going to be doing on vacation. But we were showing it could be a good balance. Like, yeah, okay, we're going to do the luxury stuff. We're going to have a little fun, spend a little money.
24:11But we can also go to this five-star Michelin taco stand. That's$3. And then another aspect of the show is it's, you know she's doing like the leisure stuff I'm doing like the adventurous stuff so whatever type of traveler you are even if you want to see the educational stuff that stuff is in there too it's something for everybody but I do think that it is like you said it's a lot of black women who travel but it's a lot who don't you know what I'm saying but it's an audience that has not been served there's no travel show out there for black women tailored and I won't even just say black women I'll just say black people in general like this is tailored for the black traveler so I don't know I think it has a different element but like like we were talking about earlier it kind of has that like y 'all remember the show The Simple Life with Nicole so it kind of has that element of still being like fun and silly so you get the entertainment aspect of us but you can really watch it and get your itinerary like if you watch the Mexico City episode you have your whole itinerary for a weekend in Mexico City for sure and I love that about the show too because I think it also portrays black women in such a good light.
25:20Like, these days, you have so many of the reality shows that are out now where the women are fighting. It's a lot of drama. It's a lot of mess. Our show is very lighthearted. It's fun. And it's showing two black women traveling together, exploring the world, having a good time. There's an overwhelming theme. And I'm glad you kind of mentioned it earlier, Drea. You were like, travel Queens Africa. Because I feel as I watch the episodes, there's this overwhelming theme about going back to Africa. Right? Whether it was like we're in Palenque. And I'm like, okay, you can see the roots there. When you went to Mexico City, it was like, we're going to the black.
25:54There's a very, there's an intentionality there. So talk about that because it's important. People, even when we were talking about rice and that being the currency that was being traded, most people think it was cotton. You're learning about it, but it all ties back to Africa. Talk about the intentionality of having that in episodes. I think like I said when I started traveling I really started traveling kind of like in my early 30s like because I have a best friend who travels a lot and she's like that type of traveler when we go to these places where the black people at and the how we they tailored the show was like let's go to these places and find black people let's get the story so everybody can understand we all came from the same place we just got dropped off at different locations so it's very it's a much emphasized on really learning that we are more similar than we are different.
26:47Because I think in this world that we're living in today, everybody's having, you know, oh, you from here, I'm from here. I'm, you know, I'm Dominican, I ain't no black. It's like everybody want to be separated, but it's like, no, we are really alike. And I love that about the show because I'm like, oh my God, y 'all like our cousins. Yeah, that was the amazing thing about going to Palenque because I was going to say that I think a lot of time in the Afro-Latino community, they get this stigma that they don't want to be attached to being black. But in Palenque, they were very proud to be black.

27:16Like, they had their pro-black t-shirts. They were saying, no, we feel very connected to our African roots. So I think it was a good thing to highlight. It's an educational process. Like you said, Cartagena, that's where, like, a lot of black people live in Colombia. And people talk about Brazil a lot, but South America, there's more, South America is the second largest population of black people in the world as far as continent. Facts. So there was more slaves that came to South America than America. Brazil is the second largest concentration of black people outside of Africa in the world. So there's a lot of black people in Colombia.
27:51Yeah. And that people look at Colombia because it's not represented. Right. So when you see beauty pageants and it's very fair skinned people in Colombia and Brazil and even Mexico. But then you go to these countries and you realize that there's a lot of people that look like you. Yes. Right. Similarities. But the media has not portrayed that. So everybody thinks that Colombia is only like Pablo Escobar. Right. And the cartel. But when we went down there, like, I was so shocked. Like I said, I always tell this story. I said, look, the only time I went to Colombia when I get my BBL. So I was wrapped up in the hospital room.
28:32You know what I'm saying? I know what was going on. But so this time I went I was able to really Travel around and see Right So I'm like They got You know The micro braids They literally like Really are looking like us You know what I'm saying Yeah You wonder why we paying 600 up here Right You know what I'm saying How they receive you guys Not just in Columbia But everywhere Like how was your reception Of course you got a TV camera So Right Even if they don't know Who you are They know you Somebody They know you Somebody But like How was that reception Because that's the thing too Black people sometimes Fearful to travel Because they think That it's going to be Too much racism Or it's going to be Uncomfortable So how was your Experiences traveling To these different places?
29:13I think that they Received us really well Because Like we were just saying A lot of the time People assume That it's not going to be A lot of Black people In these spaces But it was so many people And I feel like Obviously up until We started talking You can't really tell That we not from here Well I mean In the cameras too After the cameras Gave it away But the reception was really good in all of the places that we went to. I always say this to people when you're traveling, Black Americans, but just Americans in general, because everybody knows that kind of reputation that we have. When you travel and you're genuinely like curious and you want to learn about the culture and you are really trying to immerse yourself, they appreciate that.
29:54So the fact that we were there, we're not like, OK, do y 'all speak English? We don't understand y 'all. We like on our phone. We trying to speak. I was trying to speak a little Spanish. You know what I'm saying? We were struggling. And I knew Salita Lindo word for word. They was shook. Yes, but they appreciate just seeing the effort. Como estas. You know. That's it. Buenos noches. Buenos noches. You had that down pat. That movie, I was like, ah, she got that. Everything else that you was trying to order, I said, nah, nah. We need to. It's the accent that throw it off. It's my accent. With a Houston accent speaking Spanish.
30:30It's crazy. But then I heard like a little Creole. Like, I'm like, wait, does she got that too? Like, nah, right? You don't, there's no, there's Creole in your? Creole's a language? Yeah, well, yeah, yeah, it is actually. Yeah. And so my family, my mom's family is actually from Louisiana. Yeah, from Lake Charles. So I did hear it then? For sure, yeah. Yeah, for sure. My grandfather is from Lake Charles. Yeah. So, go ahead. So, okay, I got to ask you this because, you know, on the guy's side, so, all right, there's a thing called Passport Bros. Oh, Lord. Oh, God. Yeah, we know about that. You ever heard of it?
31:04Yeah. Unfortunately. Unfortunately. But what's not talked about a lot, like, even Stella had a groove back. There is a certain thing of women go and they meet guys. You guys, you're in relationships? You know, kind of. It's complicated. It's rocky. Every time we talk to y 'all, it's complicated. It's rocky? It's always complicated. Y 'all have three years of complication. I know. It's rocky football. We need to get it together. We're getting it together this year. That's for the next season? Yeah. Hopefully next time we be engaged Travel queens and kids Travel queens and kids Okay So it's Rocky Rocky Waters Right For both of you Well I won't say Rocky Waters Because I'm like It's a good space It's cool I'm figuring it out I'll say that What does that mean though Are you single or not I am You're single Yes I feel like I'm single Because Feel like I'm single Or are you single That's crazy That's crazy You don't know Because we still communicate Like we're still talking but we're not in a relationship right that's what right now you're traveling yes you needed some time traveling queen i'm traveling queen yes so so all right so being that you guys are single guys try to talk to you how is that aspect because we never really got to the bottom of that like we know there's a stigma of guys when they travel yes certain elements but when women travel right is that something that you care about or you like i'm just here just for a good time like I don't want to talk to a guy or like I'm not gonna lie it really depends where you go cause if I'm being quite honest the girls y 'all might get mad at me but like when I went to December in Lagos oh they was outside the girls like they go there looking for this year oh I didn't go this year I went a few years ago but I know like you go out there you might find you a Nigerian king you know what I'm saying that's a part it's true yeah the girls be traveling the girls definitely be traveling like I mean That's a real thing.
33:01Yeah, it is. Like, they be on them rafts. Like, girls trip. They love to get them legs rubbed down with that clay. And it be more than that going down in them rafts now. That's a fact. It be going down. It's going overboard. I think the Passport bros are more like vocal. Stanley rubbing them down. Yeah. They be going down. But I think the Passport bros are more like open. And it's more controversial. They're reasoning. Because they're like, oh, we don't like American women anymore. We're going to get something better. They be trying to go get something cheaper. Get something cheaper, and then they still don't want to pay them.
33:35They don't want to pay them? No, the girls be on TikTok mad. I mean, am I wrong? That's always been my perception of the passport bros from what I see online. Like, they travel to these other countries a lot of time, like third world countries, and try to find a wife because they're like, you know, they're going to be happy with a minimalistic lifestyle versus American women. they feel like they want too much. Yeah. Too much expectation. Too many expectations, too much money. But then that could be said too for the girls that be like, look, I'm tired of dealing with prima donnas in America. Right.
34:11I want a guy that can actually chop a tree down. They're going to love me. Yeah. Oh, he can build a house. Hold it down. He can build a house. By himself. I'm telling you. With his bare hands. By himself. Cut the lumber. So yeah, I think the women are just like we just more play per usual. We keep our mouths shut. We go, they go out the country, get their men. So in the show, did guys try to talk to you in the show? Is that part of the show? No, no, no, no. No, not at all. Did it happen? No, because I feel like a lot of people were afraid to approach us a little bit just because of the camera.
34:46So it was a lot of people taking pictures of us, but nobody really walking up saying anything. Yeah. No, yeah, we didn't have that. But, yeah, and then we had security too. but that's one thing I like about the show it's not about none of that it's not about it's literally about us having a good time it's not about we're not talking about gender none of that dating stuff are y 'all doing 50-50 a$200 date it ain't none of that it's not you know what I'm saying so it's completely different from the podcast the world I think it's interesting that you say almost in every episode like it's safe so it gives that message that yo it's safe to travel here but you did have security are these places that you would frequent without security?
35:26And how would you feel if there was no cameras? Would this be something like, I feel like I could come back here and be chill. So I said, I would love to go back to Mexico City and really get to explore the city not actually filming. I would absolutely go back to all of those places without security. Columbia? Yeah, what was the street we were on in Columbia? I can't remember what it was called, but it was really, really nice. It kind of reminded me of a Colombian bourbon street. Yeah. Like with the umbrellas in the gym? Yeah. And it was like, it was a lot of families out there. Right. They turn up drinking, but you see a lot of like kids and stuff.
35:58It was actually really, really cool. So I would definitely go back, you know, with just us, like a girl group, a big group of us. Yeah, watching it was, that was, I think that scene was the first time where I was like, oh wait, like the cameras are here. Like people are actually filming them because y 'all was dancing. Right, yep. You know I shake your tail. We was cutting a mean rug. I mean, music is the universal language. Talk about how that brings cultures together, how that brings communities together. I know you brought your Texas twerk with you. Definitely did. Definitely did. How that infusion of music just brings us all together.
36:34Yeah, so we actually took a dance class on the beach in Columbia, which was really fun. And it was like some of the dance moves weren't exactly similar, but it was like, okay, I know how to do this. I done did this in the club before. And I'm telling you, it's like, that's what I kept saying. I was just so shocked at how similar we are. the music influence. You can hear certain things. I'm like, okay, this is something I would actually listen to. Like, I listen to Afrobeats. You can hear the influence of that in a lot of the music that they were listening to. So, like I said, with traveling, especially with this show, because I've traveled before, I'm just learning that how similar we are instead of like us always pointing out the differences.
37:15It's so much from the food. And Charleston, I'm like, this reminds me of Cajun or Creole food. Charleston, South Carolina? Yes. Yes. So you went to Charleston, South Carolina, Key West, Florida. Yes. Mexico and Columbia. Yes. So, okay. We talked about the international travel, but domestic travel. Because that's something a lot of people look over. A lot of places in America. Like Miami, New York, you know, Chicago, L.A. But there's a lot of like hidden gems. Oh, for sure. So these are places that people might not usually go to. Right. So talk about that. Like, it's actually finding different places, like those two places in particular.
37:55Like, how was your experience? Was there things to do? Was it fun? Like, how was that being, like, most people just kind of look over that? Yeah, for sure. Because I think that was me prior to going to Key West and Charleston. Like, those are two places that I just never thought to travel to. So it was definitely a lot to do there. And it's so funny because I go to Miami all the time. And then Key West is right there. It's like, I think, a two-hour drive. and I never have thought to go to Key West but it's beautiful. The water is beautiful. It's clear. I think what is super close to Cuba. We went rafting.
38:27Yeah. What else did we do there? We did a drag show. We did a drag show. We ate at the night. The nightlife is really dope. So I think that it I love about Travel Queens that it's definitely going to highlight going to places that are literally almost in your backyard and it's budget friendly. You can have a good time. And I think the same thing about Charleston. I have I say this every interview we do. I have a friend in Charleston and he has been trying to get me to come out there forever. He's like, Lex, you'll love it. Come have fun. We're going to do this. I'm like, I'm not going to Charleston.
38:55And I had a ball like the water. People take nice boats out. The food was amazing. And I like to travel domestically anyway. Like one of my favorite places to go is Phoenix. So I feel like there are a lot of little places in the States that are beautiful, that you can really have a good time and you don't have to break the bank. You know what I mean? So I like the fact that they split the season up like, okay, we're going to go some domestic places too. Because people love to say, oh, if you're in the States, that's not a vacation. If I'm not working and I got to pack a spending night bag, it's a vacation.
39:27But then also it's like, all right, America geographically is bigger than Europe. Yeah. Right. So if you look at it from that standpoint, that would be like somebody that lives in France. If they go to even London, which is a two-hour train ride, they're looking at that. Like that's a total different experience. Right. They go to Brussels. They go to Italy. America, I think, it just all gets lumped in as one thing. Right. But there's a bunch of different subcultures and a lot of activities. That's important that you highlight that, too, because people think, all right, if you go to America, you just, you go to Miami, you're going to go to the beach, you're going to go to Collins, and you go to Hollywood, you're going to go shopping in New York.
40:04But it's like you can do outdoor activities and whitewater rafting and skydiving in America. You don't got to go outside the country to do that. Right. And then even in Charleston, like the Geechee Gullah people that are there, we knew nothing about them. And it's a lot of Caribbean influence, African influence there. And it's just something that we never knew about. The food is similar, like you said, to the food in Louisiana. The red rice was just like jambalaya. it's just so many different variations of cultures in the United States that I think we don't really pay attention to. Yeah, I wouldn't actually mind doing a season like here.
40:41In New York? No, traveling domestically. Girl. Come here. No, but yeah, I feel like we could do a whole season. We've been here. A lot. You come here. But I feel like there's so many little pockets. You'll be watching the show for real. I'll support y 'all. See, last thing I'm playing. I know. I do be saying like, y 'all don't be supportive for real. He done quoted it like, yes, he letting us know. Look, I be watching Trump. I be tuned in every Wednesday. But yeah. Is there an activity that you were surprised that you actually enjoyed? Right? Like there was some ones I'm on there. I'm like, there's no way I ever would have thought of that.
41:19But there's something that you were like, we gotta do it. And then you actually were like, this is actually fun. I'll say the Lucha Libre for me. I didn't I didn't think I was going to, I was in there cutting up. I had a time. I didn't think I was going to enjoy that either, but it was actually really fun, especially when they had us in the ring doing the flips. Yes. I didn't even know I could do that. Yeah, even watching them fight, I was like, oh, y 'all are serious. Hardcore. I ain't seen a show that good since Renaissance. I see. Renaissance. I was entertained. I really was. So that really surprised me.
41:53I was like, ooh, I don't know if that's my thing. I mean, I used to watch wrestling when I was little. Same. I was like, okay, I'm grown, but it was actually really fun. Yeah, that was probably it for me because I feel like everything else that we did, I've done before. So I knew I was going to enjoy it, except for the massages on the beach. But who not going to enjoy it? Yeah. And that was the shortest activity we did. That's crazy. Who's not going to enjoy that? Right. So where do you want to go in the future? Yeah. You been to Ghana? No, I've never been to Africa. She's been to Nigeria, but I haven't been to Africa at all.
42:25You should come to Ghana. We're going. When are y 'all going? You should come with us. Whoa, whoa, whoa. When are y 'all going? Answer this question. She said, aren't y 'all building a house there? That's crazy. They don't support us like we support them. A house? A community? Well, you know what I mean. A city? You know what I mean. Those are three different things. Well, in a house where I'm from in Orange, it got about six communities in it. And I saw, you know what I'm saying? Y 'all got to excuse me. I'm a little country now. Yeah, a house in that sense. You know what I'm saying? A house in that sense.
42:53A home for, you know, our people. You see what I'm saying? So how is that going? Nah, it's going good. Y 'all should come out there when we come. We actually going in a couple weeks. Okay. We should go. You know, I'm down for a little trip now. We always down for a trip. We are. How long y 'all going for? We going to be there for like seven days. Something like that, yeah. Okay. We going to have to go for a while. Yeah, we love a good trip now. Nah, God's the vibe. The food is amazing. I know what you like. You all love it. Okay, now. Yeah, if y 'all like, we got to talk about food too. I feel like food and travel go hand in hand.
43:28But Ghana is one of these places. It's like the entry to Africa. You should go to Ghana before you go to any other country because it's very safe, laid back. Some other countries are a little bit more aggressive. But Ghana is super relaxed, chill. The food. And they got all kinds of different food. So they got like Thai food. They got Chinese food. They got Italian food. They got the local cuisine. And people are very welcoming. they got beaches they got the nightlife it's crazy so and we we really know like the people that's really the right people to know there so we can get whatever we want I know that's right my number one food travel place yeah but I agree with what you said like Ghana being like like the entry to because I'm not gonna lie I always tell people this like I went to Lagos with the guy I was dating at the time and you know he's from there lived there but it's like you cannot go to Lagos without being hosted by somebody.
44:25Yeah. I would never just be like, oh, girls, let's go to Lagos. Let's gather up the girls and go to Lagos because you really have to know how to navigate that city. It's very aggressive. Like, it's a culture shock. Like, I've never landed somewhere and I was like, oh, Lord have mercy, what's going on? Jesus help me. Oh, yeah. Yeah, you landed in Lagos. Yeah, for sure. So, but I've always wanted to go to Ghana because I do hear that, like, girls go on trips together and they can navigate it pretty easily. Easily. and then they got the whole history thing like you know if you're into like the slave castle dungeons and all that so that's a historical thing so it's it's a really dope place yeah that's crazy Charleston had there too they had them dungeons and that's a girl they did they they really did I know I'm just like I forgot about it I'm just trying to bridge the culture see we more alike we tied it back to Africa so there's like so there's you know Jamestown, Virginia yes I've heard of you So there's a Jamestown in Ghana.
45:25So that's where they, so it was a direct line. Yeah. Jamestown, Ghana. That's crazy. I never knew that. Yeah, we've been to both. I know, that's right. Yeah, when you're standing in a crowd and you're looking out in the water, there's just a moment that you realize that your ancestors left here and never came back. Some of them didn't make it to Jamestown in Virginia. Well, what would be called Jamestown in Virginia? and then you realize from the other side when you're in this in America looking out to the Atlantic you realize how far you've come to be here so it's definitely one of those moments that you definitely should experience and have people filming you I see and have people filming us hopefully BETCD I know where else would you guys go if you had a list right this is the wish list for season two here's where we want to go what would be those places I really would love and maybe this is just casting a wide net but I really would love to go to Africa next season or Europe.
46:22Yeah. And just travel to different places. Like, do an episode in Paris. Do an episode in London. You been to Paris before? I haven't been to Paris before. I have. And I had a ball. I knew I was cutting up. You did have a time. Oh, Lord have mercy, Jesus. I have to go. I went to Amsterdam. And when I tell you, I had a time. I was in them coffee shops cutting up. so I feel like we have to go to Amsterdam Edibles oh what I was in there cut I had a time maybe Santorini yeah you have to go back to Ibiza yeah but the food that surprised me in Amsterdam it was really really good it was like kind of the same thing like a melting pot like the Thai food was really good the Italian food was really good but same we need to go to Greece because I think people I've never been to Greece personally but I would like to show because everybody when I see people talking about Greece, they're like, oh, should I go to Santorini or Mykonos?
47:19Like, those are two spots. But Santorini is like the honeymoon spot and Mykonos is like the party spot. Right. So I would love for us to kind of do like an episode like that. I want to really go to places that aren't just like just the beachy type of stuff too. Like, you know, I want to go to like Nice and like show people like, okay, we can do the fancy stuff, have a little wine. You know what I'm saying? So there's just a lot of places that I've already been that I'm like, oh my gosh, I wish I had candy. Like Madrid, because we only got to be in Madrid for one day. We didn't really get to explore it the way that we wanted to.
47:51Because remember, we wanted to go to the museum and have time. Out of the places that you've been to already, like outside of the travel show, what's your top five places that you've been to? And why? Dubai. Why? Because I felt fancy. I was like, I'm so regal. I belong here. It's true. You know what I'm saying? And when I went to Dubai, it was just like I had an amazing time. I don't know. I feel like, first of all, I'm just a vibe. I always be turnt up. So no matter where I go, I'm going to have a time. But Paris, definitely, that's one of my favorite spots. And honestly, I will say Lagos because I did Lagos the right way.
48:31Those are like my top three. Oh, but. I love Jamaica. I always have a time. Yes, Jamaica too. I just came back from Jamaica a few weeks ago. What part? What part? Actually, this was my first time going to Kingston because normally I always go to Moabay. You was in the city with somebody. Yeah. Well, no, I was with my best friend. I'm trying to spill people's teeth. See, I was with somebody, but it wasn't like that. One of my best friends is actually Jamaican. Shout out to my best friend, Lynn. And so her family has like a whole compound in Kingston. So she always goes out there for like two months at a time and spend a lot of time with her family.
49:06And she was like, girl, you should come. And I'm like, I don't know. So Kingston, again, just never going somewhere, making assumptions. But it was really safe. I was a little scared. My family's from Kingston. Really? Yeah, my whole family's from there. My mom, they grew up in the same neighborhood. And when we went to Kingston a few years ago, I went back to the neighborhood. And the police escorted me out the neighborhood. I'm sorry. They said you don't belong here. Don't come back. I'm weak. That's why you don't like gumbo. You don't look like ox-tails. I don't eat beef. And you ate pork. We'll talk about that later.
49:36But keep going. Kingston, you did. You did. you did Kingston what else but I had a good time in Kingston I would say honestly when we went to Ibiza we had a really good time oh Ibiza is a vibe yeah we had a really good time in Ibiza and then London as well London's a vibe you know what I couldn't get with the beans and toast but that was the best part for me you know you know I love a little bean you do but you didn't like those no I didn't like the breakfast beans in London that's the first bean I didn't like but I do like London it's cool but I don't know it reminds me of New York you know what I'm saying so when I like they say New York Tokyo and London are all the same yeah like similar but I went to Brazil in what was that December did I go to Brazil for the first time apart um Rio Rio yeah I went to Rio so I I had an amazing time I be lit I be going to this soon as I land I'm drunk what a party at and I had a good time so we definitely got to do something in Rio and I just love of the Caribbean.
50:38Like, remember when I went to like Tobago Cays and I went to all of these different islands? I was on a yacht for like seven days and I went to like five different islands. It was really, really dope. Not the fishermen boat, the yacht. No, it was a yacht yacht. The phone was still up on IG. So for black... So if we put a post up for like top five places that black women should travel, that's... We got Dubai. Yes. We got Paris. Yes. Amsterdam, for sure. Amsterdam Jamaica Jamaica and then I would say oh Turks was one yeah Turks we forgot about Turks we didn't even mention Turks Turks is a vibe Turks is a vibe it's expensive it's really but it's probably one of the most expensive places that we've ever went yeah we had some good times in Turks yeah Turks is definitely a vibe but who needs your money up for that it ain't budget friendly at all not at all and I will say honestly when I went to Amsterdam there's a lot of black people in Amsterdam right like that surprised me Africans It's a lot I mean It was a lot of people A lot of Americans there That had actually moved Well no A lot of people That were living there Okay Yeah like I had met I just walked into A random bar And I was by myself Just walking Because my friend Had to work And I walked into This random bar I met so many Like black Americans That had been living there For years Y 'all been to Y 'all been to Asia?
51:57No Not at all Travel Queens Asia See Thailand Y 'all gonna You gonna love Thailand For sure Why you don't think I'm gonna love Thailand? No, you'll like Thailand too. Okay. But I just feel like Lex... Lex will probably... Is like turn up fun? Or like food fun? It's everything, yeah. But it's super like... It's super turn up like as far as like... Thailand's a good place because whatever you want to do, you can do. Like there's like different vibes. Like there's beach vibes, there's city vibes, there's like beautiful island vibes. Parties go 24 hours a day. Oh yeah, that's mine. It's like super...
52:35Thailand's a good place. Y 'all should definitely put that on your list. I really want to go to Bangkok. Yeah, the pork bao buns. So don't judge me because that's what I'm going to eat. She's going to be pairing in bao buns. I really judged you. Why? I told you. Pork is tasty in moderation. Pork bao buns? The bao buns. And they have like the pork in it? The little soft buns and then they have like the filling on the inside. Well, you had pork cheek, right? What'd you eat? What was it? With the taco? It was beef. It was beef though. It was the head. I was judging you. In the eye It was beef head I'm an adventurous eater though Well let's get to this Let's get to this Alright let's get to this This is social media So we got two different categories Okay Okay I said something on social media That got very controversial I named my top five food cities in America I saw that I remember that Did you remember that?
53:27I do I remember it was like a few months ago So Okay You guys travel a lot Your foodies? Yes Yes Yes, both foodies. So let's do this. Let's start with America. I'm pretty of interest. What is it? What's your top five food cities in America? And explain this to me. Now, see, maybe I'm being a little biased because I'm from Houston. But I feel like Houston has some of the best food in the States. Like, it's just so many different flavors, so many different cultures. Like, we have really good Mexican food because we're right there by Mexico. We have really good Cajun and Creole food because we're right there by Louisiana.
54:06And there's so many Louisiana people that have moved to Houston. Then I feel like even in the clubs, even the strip club food. Bust it. Bust it. You can get fried rice at 3 a.m. They not doing that in other cities. Like, I don't know. I just feel like Houston has really, really good food. Definitely would say New York just because there's so many different cultures out here. And y 'all have really good Cuban food. Y 'all have really good Dominican food. Making food Like the list Just goes on and on Chicago Chicago for sure Chicago has really Really good food as well They have a lot of Amazing restaurants Out there I've never been In Chicago And like I'll book a random restaurant And it's always good New Orleans You know what New Orleans Oh you're not really Sold on New Orleans That's controversial New Orleans Pre-Karina To be honest Because a lot of those People moved You think the food changed It did It really did And I don't want me to offend anybody because you know you're Larry Murrow on the phone.
55:04That's probably why the food's so good in Houston because everybody moved there. Yeah. So break this because everybody thinks that... Chicago and you didn't have Chicago. You didn't have Chicago in there? Yeah, but Chicago I definitely could have... They forgave you yet? Well, let's talk about New Orleans because this is controversial. Okay. Because people think New Orleans is the best thing ever when it comes to food. Yeah. You think it's overrated? It's not that I think that it's overrated. I just think... Okay, like I was saying earlier my family is from Louisiana so I grew up eating Creole Cajun food a lot I think that a lot of the restaurants in Louisiana are very commercial so it's different from like if you're eating the food at your granny house versus if you're going to a lot of these chain restaurants outside of Moro's shout out to Big Lero and everything in that empire but I will say I agree with her if you're like in New Orleans or Louisiana wherever you are if you go to somebody auntie house you're gonna have the best food you've ever had in your life.
56:03But like, if you're just on Bourbon Street and you're trying to eat, it's not going to be like... It's just very commercial. Yeah. So, yeah, I agree with that as well. Gentrified Creole. We got Houston, New York, Chicago. We got two more cities. I would say Philly has really good food. Philly? Philadelphia? Yeah. Like we went... I can't remember the name of that restaurant. Maybe living rent-free in my head. That Italian restaurant that we went to out there. Oh, yeah. That pasta was some of the best pasta I've had in my life. I really can't. I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant right now.
56:35Okay. That's a curveball. Yeah. I'm trying to think. One more. One more. We're somewhere.
56:45I don't know. Somewhere else. Somewhere else. Miami. D.C. has good food. Okay. I'm not mad at that. I'm not. I'm not mad at that. I'm kind of like between. But you know what? He right. I think Miami gets overlooked because they like, But Miami got some dope-ass restaurants. They do. That are experiences, vibes, and good food. Aesthetically and the food is good. Yeah, that's true. We were just talking about Sexy Fish. Y 'all have to cross Sexy Fish on my cold, dead hands. I love me some Sexy Fish. Do you? I love Sexy Fish. Sexy Fish is good. One of my favorite things to do. Did you go to the London one?
57:18I didn't. We went to the Miami one for my birthday one year. But my favorite thing to do is just get dressed up. Like, I'm talking about put that shit on and go to dinner. and sexy like in Miami every restaurant you gotta put that shit on we went for my birthday one year in Miami we got a house on the water and every time we went to dinner we had on full like dressing and it's a vibe they bringing out sparklers they got the music like poppy steak I love poppy steak poppy steak's a good one that pastrami but I forgot you don't eat me komodo yes oh we had a komodo for her birthday we did go to komodo for my birthday prime one Oh, all the vibes.
57:58Okay, all the name of their place, Mila. Yeah, Mila was the vibe. Mila is good. So, yeah, I will say Miami. I'll put Miami before D.C. Me too. For the vibe. I've been to D.C. a bunch of times. I'm not sure if it's... Well, the brunch... It's like the... D.C. got good food. They do. They do. They're not in restaurants. It's not as commercial. Right. Yeah, they have good brunch coke powder. I had the best Indian food in my life. Really? Yeah. It was a random just walk-in. And this isn't domestic, but I had some of the best Indian food in my life in Kingston well let's talk about that international international because you guys are international travel experts give me the top five international places that you've been to well as far as food food food wise just food just Jamaica I'm a foodie yeah okay I'll put Jamaica on my list I'm gonna say number one like I said I know I keep talking about Amsterdam but it shocked me really Amsterdam yes that Thai food out there?
58:55That's in the top? Yes. I'm telling you, anybody who has been to Amsterdam a few times will be like, yeah, the food out there is bomb. Amsterdam. Amsterdam. Like I said, Jamaica, just because you're automatically going to think of Jamaican food. The oxtail, the rice and peas. But Jamaica has really good Asian food. Like, they have really good Chinese food and they have really, really good Indian food. You've been to Screechies? I have been to Screechies. Legendary. Oh, you're a legend. Screechies legendary. I'm in them streets definitely with a local Peppa Tom have you ever heard of Peppa Tom?
59:28yo she's nah yeah my best friend always say I'm an honorary Jamaican wagwan you say no things okay street cheeses you had the popcorn lobster? yes that was so good and the jerk lobster? well no I had the jerk chicken and then I had the popcorn lobster popcorn lobster jerk lobster it took about four hours but it's okay they gonna take a long time at all them restaurants but it's worth the wait it's in Kingston right? no that's that's in Hellshire Paris It's Irish. It's like an hour outside. Outside of beach. Inside of the outside. So we got Jamaica and we got Amsterdam. Lagos, for sure. Lagos. I mean, I was really eating good out there.
1:00:05Oh, Ibiza had good food. Ibiza had good food. That restaurant we went to, oh my God. We were eating good every... The outdoor restaurant that we had to go back to, yeah. Oh my gosh. It was so good. We gotta start keeping the names of these places in our house. We do. We got one more. Okay. Where else that we... You don't like Paris? I'm not gonna lie Paris was the first time see that was I went on a little vacation when I went and it was the first time I had duck ever ever and I said oh I like this duck is the vibe with the pancake like thing and the sauce I wish I remember the name of the restaurant it was right across from the Louis Vuitton store so we're like it was just so oh that's where we stayed we stayed over there you know I was just having a time of my life Paris would definitely be in there yeah Paris had amazing food which like I said sometimes it surprises me because when I go to Europe I'm really like ooh ooh What about the Latin what about like Mexico or Colombia?
1:01:01Um I ate we ate good in Colombia You know what funny enough Colombia too people are gonna automatically assume Colombian food they had really good Italian food out there they had some really good Mexican food out there too And you gonna be mad but when I went to Brazil they had these little sausages things I was on the beach eating a little sausage it was so good it was like a sausage sandwich thing. A sausage sandwich. A glizzy. We call that a glizzy. Being from the south, we love a little sausage sandwich. I love a sausage sandwich. A little bread and whiskey. I'm sorry. It was so good. What's the worst place that you've ever, like...
1:01:34London. I'm sorry. London has one good place. I've heard that a bunch of times. Duck and Waffle is the only place in London. We always had good food in London. I don't know. That's what I was going to say too, Rashad. Objective? We went to Soho House in London and that was one of the best burgers I've had in my whole entire life. It was a good burger. They got a lot of high-end restaurants in London. They do. They do. I just got a London girl. Like, you go to Egypt. No disrespect to all my people from Egypt, but that food didn't meet the bar. Really? And I got food poisoning. Probably. Hold on.
1:02:05Well, a lot of the people that went did. Like, no seasoning. No seasoning. The same thing. It's probably at the—if we had to rank them, it would probably be at the bottom. The worst. The worst. Yeah, for sure. And see, I wasn't expecting it. Are they strict out there? No, no, that's cool. I mean, Egypt is good as far as historical standpoint. It was dope. It was amazing. To see the pyramids, to see Luxor. Amazing experience. But just the food missed the bar. But it's not like we didn't get like parties. We didn't like party too much out there. Yeah, it was more. So I don't need to go another day.
1:02:37Nah, we didn't turn up. We didn't go to New Cairo. I heard New Cairo is the place. But I don't know if there's like a turn up, turn up. Like how you would love to turn up. Yeah. You know what's crazy? When I'm at home, I hate the club. I hate going out But when I'm When I'm country Man what time Is y 'all ready? It's time to go Out till 6am And my favorite thing about Lagos is They don't close the club Until the last person Nah they go too far though They say they take it too far Donna Yo I love it 10am 10am They still They still partying That's wild They was like You still here? Yes Nah nah nah They go too far Oh I love it I was up The last My last night in Lagos We left the club at 10 a.m.
1:03:19We went back and packed and I made it to the airport. But that's part of the travel experience too. You got to show the nightlife. Like even us, like we only in New York hang out too much. But like we was in London. We went out five nights in a row. Every single night. Seven nights. And I had a birthday party in London and Paris on the same day. And London nightlife is fun. That's why. Now I will say I do like the nightlife. Tape London. Yeah. I'm going to go with the nightlife. The nightlife is great. I'm not sure the food is great. But the nightlife is great. In London? Yeah I don't know I had good food in London I can't complain I did too I can't knock the food I was fooling with everything With the beans and toast For breakfast That's what I That's what I got me Yeah Dubai got good food too Yeah I mean it's Alright let's do this There's a difference between Nice restaurants And cultural Right Exactly Like you know I mean If you have If the city's wealthy They're gonna have top restaurants Right If you go to top restaurants You're gonna eat good Right Agreed London for instance right We go to top restaurants.
1:04:18We're going to eat good. You're not going to have a bad experience at a high-end restaurant. But if it's like Jamaica, you can go to a Screechies, and that feels like that's the best food ever, right? But that's not a five-star Michelin restaurant. It might as well be. But I'm not going to lie. Might as well be. When I was in Daleshire, it was the time. What was the restaurant, the Salt Bae guys' restaurant? Oh, yeah. We've been to a few of those. I mean, it's a steakhouse, for one, so we're not really doing much of that. but it is I think it's a bit overrated well I'll tell you right now the steak wasn't that tasty I know it's red meat but from my media you gotta go to Milos in Dubai at Atlantis okay legendary that's the highest level oh I'm there now I'm a travel queen she's a travel queen no where is it so it's in Dubai it's in that's the highest Atlantis what's the what's their level on Atlantis they got two levels at Atlantis they got the regular level and then they got the higher level of Atlantis.
1:05:18So when you go to... Elite. You got to have like a VIP or something? Let me put that in my nose. I'm going to show you the videos for me. They got, you know, that Beyonce opened a hotel a few years ago with the big waterfall. Okay. Elite level. It's fire though. But they got Milos in the city too. Okay. Two of them. Yeah. Y 'all should go there for lunch. Dubai. Make a call. That's fancy. Make a call. Okay. Period. Y 'all make the call. Welcome to the city. Because we come to Ghana with y 'all. We know our people. put Atlanta in any of those lists Atlanta Atlanta and we're not shout out to Atlanta and we're not we didn't forget we just didn't add it and get it and not no shade to Atlanta Atlanta has not made the food list I mean Atlanta got the wings on lock the wings chicken wings chicken wings strip club wings the wings on lock but that's for me outside of that that's about it it's over yeah I don't know like even barbecue being from Texas being from Houston barbecue is a big thing out there my mom every time she comes to Atlanta she like well you can give me whatever you want but don't give me no barbecue cause she was like it tastes like they boiled the meat first and then put it on the grill it just I don't know they don't do a lot of things right in Atlanta and I like my sausage stop what's your stop you're doubling down tripling down I like my sausage to snap you don't think they be snapping in Atlanta I don't really eat sausages anymore what's the best food what's the best signature food for instance Philly has a cheesesteak New York New York, Chicago They debate about their pizza The pizza, yeah Like What does New Orleans have?
1:06:53New Orleans has oysters? I would say I would say gumbo Gumbo, gumbo What's your favorite New York also has glizzies too What's your favorite Y 'all do You can get them out every corner What's your favorite Cultural Thing Where it's like This is In Houston, Ireland in America like like I said if you could pick one thing where it's like I want a Philly cheesesteak I want a deep dish pizza from Chicago I want I gotta have this when I go to the city a taco in Houston a taco in Houston we have so many good tacos synonymous with Houston because of the yes we have so many Mexican food trucks yes so like 3am 4am you could go to any gas station parking lot and it's going to be a busing taco truck.
1:07:45And you can get like five tacos for$100. You had chopped cheese in New York? I have had a chopped cheese. How was that experience for you? It was good. It was good. But I feel like we probably should go somewhere that y 'all recommend because we just went to a random place. It was good. Their taste. Yo, Ab, chopped cheese on a docket. Yeah, you got to take them to the Bronx. Let's see. We was in the Bronx. He was in the city. But I am a Chicago pizza girl. I love a thin crust. Thin crust? No, they have the Deep dish. That's New York then. Yeah. New York is thick crushed. Chicago is deep dish. Okay.
1:08:17I do not like. The deep dish. Yeah, I don't like that. All that salt. Yeah, it's too much. I don't like it. So, yeah. That's a mozzarella. And we went to the place that they recommended, like one of the top places in Chicago, I think Giordano's. Giordano's. Yeah. Something like that. They said that's the commercial side, but there is one that has the real deep dish. I've tried a bunch, like three of them already. So, you like deep dish? I'm a New Yorker. Yeah. What's your pick? What? What'd I just say? As far as... I'm going with Philly cheesesteak. Philly cheesesteak is incredible. And I don't even eat beef, salmon, a Philly salmon cheese.
1:08:53But I just feel like Philly cheesesteak is legendary. I like the salmon cheese. But the number one thing I'm going to say is a Jamaican beef patty. No, but that's not synonymous to it. It's synonymous with Jamaica. No, I'm talking about American thing. Oh, you said food anyway. In America. Jamaican beef patties don't taste the same here. No, no, no. I'm going to take you to the right place. Okay. Because I had a beef patty from the gas station in Kingston. It was good? Yes. But apparently that place is known for their beef patties. I can't remember the name of it, but it's like a gas station. Little restaurant.
1:09:26Even food and gas stations. That's treacherous. Questionable. That's treacherous. It's not treacherous. You are on a level of treacherous. When y 'all came to Atlanta, have y 'all ever had Dave's Cheese Steak? Big Dave's? Yeah, for sure. He started off in the gas station. That's a fact. That's a fact. It did. And we drove there a long time ago to actually try Best Cheese Steak. Oh, you ate when it was at a gas station? Yes. I went to whatever. Shout out to Foodie. What? Shout out to Derek. We gonna travel far and wide for some good food. I got you. On the patties, I got you. Oh, you know, yeah, I gotta get the Marathon Burger in L.A.
1:09:57too. Oh, I love a good burger. I've never tried. I leave recommend. Oh, I need a little snack. I'll make a burger. Like Trill Burger? It's not a little snack. Trill Burger is good. I had Trill Burger for the first time actually a few months ago when I went to the rodeo and it was good. It lived up to the height. Solid. And I got the impossible one too. Official. Oh yeah. I like mine with extra bacon. Yo, she's on one. Don't, no bacon for me. Please. I like my bacon crispy. A little turkey bacon. No, I want that pork. Yo, do y 'all see this? Obviously, you've created streams from poor minds. But Travel Queens has that potential as well when I look at it, right?
1:10:36To create maybe a travel agency, a travel club, a travel platform for women, for all women, really. Do y 'all see that in the cards? Yeah, we always say, because it's so funny, because prior to us getting the opportunity to do Travel Queens, we were actually talking about starting a travel group with some of our listeners and traveling to different places, planning excursions, planning the whole trip, and then they just pay a certain price, and then they can come travel with us. So that's something I'm definitely open to. I feel like now, because at first I was like, how are we going to like pitch this to them and how are we going to do it?
1:11:08But now that we have a whole show to be like and it can branch off of it, we're definitely going to do it now for sure. Because like I said, we travel anyway. And I think, like I said, that goes into like our engagement with our audience. Like you can feel like you can travel with us and have a good time with us. So it's so many opportunities like in the travel space of like things to do. like eventually I wouldn't mind us doing like a Poor Minds on the Go episode like whenever we're in different countries and recording episodes and things like that so it's a lot it's a lot that we can do with Travel Queens and we've been talking about a lot so I should definitely do a Travel Club oh yeah for sure I think it would be really fun for retreats too yeah and like I said it's something that we could document and film and that'll live on our Patreon we'll have a whole you know it's just it's a lot that we can do but it's a lot that we are talking about but it's like she said it's crazy because this is something that we were already talking about doing because we travel so much.
1:12:02Yeah, and I think people will enjoy it. I think they see you on Point Mons and they're like, oh, when we meet them it'll probably be different. Like, y 'all are 100 % the people that y 'all are on that camera. Thank you. Y 'all are with cameras not on. Thank you. I think people really enjoy that authenticity. I think so too. Thank you.
