In short

Wall Street and policymakers allegedly downplay risks tied to the $42T national debt and a weakening bond market; the hosts discuss whether government bond support and market tactics can prevent an economic crash, plus midterm-election and crypto-market implications.

Guests/backgrounds

No guest is clearly identified in the transcript. The episode is a two-host discussion (one repeatedly references “Ray Dalio,” “Lutton,” “Novigratz,” and “Stock Club” interviews).

Key claims

Trump’s reported 1,000+ trades in June (including Visa, Berkshire Hathaway, MasterCard, and “census”) are framed as unusually high; Treasury may tap a $1T cash account for bond buybacks; bond-market “decay” and falling yields are “scary” and not being addressed; market crashes are shorter now, but an economic crash may be harder to stop; markets may be supported post-midterms; crypto momentum may reflect “history being rewritten.”

Notable examples

CD yields (9–13%) fading since ~2008; bond-market downtrend for six years; “Big Short” analogy applied to bonds; references to tariffs/ Iran negotiations; Bitcoin cycle “third year” strength discussion; “clarity act” and a September 15 deadline.

0:34When traveling for events or festivals throughout the country, every dollar matters. We compare flights, prices, hotel rates, and restaurant options. So why wouldn't we compare rides? Personally, I always check Lyft before booking a ride. Prices can change throughout the day depending on traffic, weather, and what's happening in the city. If you're headed to a concert, out to dinner, or catching up with your friends on a Friday night, taking a few seconds to check lift could leave you with more money to enjoy the experience. Save money. Check lift. As a listener, you're looking for ways to help teams move faster, make sharper decisions, and turn scattered context into work they can use.

Car insurance renews on autopilot, the rates creep up, and nobody tells you.

1:48That's what Insurify fixes. In about two minutes, completely free, you can see rates from more than 120 top insurance companies. And if there's nothing better today, they keep watching and notify you when there's a better rate. So go to Insurify.com. That's I-N-S-U-R-I-F-Y dot com. Insurify.com. Didn't catch the latest Roland Martin Unfiltered podcast? Here's what you missed. People wake up and go, oh, damn, wait a minute, hold up. They changed all of that? Yes. It's real. This is a wholesale attack. It is targeting black people in every federal agency. It's raw. White folks have never allowed that reckoning to last more than a decade.

All right, let's jump into it, man. Let's kick it off with the invest in fact of the week. What you got? I'm out for number one. Trump has disclosed more than a thousand trades in June, totaling up to two hundred and sixty three million, including Visa, Berkshire Hathaway, MasterCard and census. Those first three, even though I don't agree with the inside trading, well, he reported so it's not inside trading, but the first three are great.

3:04Ray Dalio has said to sell bonds and buy gold, which I've told you for a long time. The all-weather portfolio has had some issues. The bond coverage, I think, is probably the weakest part of the portfolio. So I'm glad he's saying this. Treasury may tap$1 trillion cash account to buy bond buyback. We'll talk about that in a little bit. And the White House has stated that the Trump June trades show no conflict of interest. That's fascinating. Back to you. You know, I saw that report this weekend. and made me, you know, we covered that. I feel like that was a month ago, maybe a month and a half ago, when we were talking about the historical value of presidents trading equities.

3:51And there was zero up until this point. And then we got to the current president, and he was at like 3 ,000. And that was a month ago. To have 1 ,000 trades in June? It's insane, bro. 1 ,000? Like, for context, for those who don't know, So you can go look and see what firms are trading, how much Goldman didn't take a thousand trades. And I'm going to be honest with you. I haven't made a thousand trades in my life, bro. It's in my life for the month of June, bro. Citadel hasn't made. They took over Leo's fund and dismantled it. And with buying the portfolio and selling off, they didn't take a thousand trades.

4:33Bank of America has not taken a thousand trades. It's crazy. Two Sigma, who that CEO is going through a divorce issue. We'll talk about on Blackout. He hasn't went through 1 ,000 trades in a month of June. It is interesting, to say the least. But this bond market thing is scary. I've been on this for a long time. You have. You've been talking about the bond market, and we keep seeing the Treasury Secretary get on. I feel like every time he wants to say something, it's CNBC at 8 o 'clock on whatever morning. The prime slot. Yeah, that prime slot so we can talk about it. Last week, it was trying to figure out how we're going to lower yields.

5:16He got back this morning talking about sanctions on Iran. What are we actually seeing with the bond market? Because a lot of people hear the bond market, they have no idea what it is, how it works, how it affects the economy, or definitely the market. What are we seeing? What are we hearing? essentially if you when you look at the bond market just think of it as debt but the thing that's interesting and i talked about it at invest fest we're seeing the decay of securities and financial products go away in our lifetime like i remember when my aunts would have cds and they would get 9 to 13 percent in a year and the thought was well i don't even really need to invest in the market if i have a cd those went away close 2008 so the bond market is supposed to balance out the stock market, stocks and bonds.

6:01But now ETFs are the hedge to the bond market. So you have no diversification. The reason why it's scary for me is that the bond market has been down for six years and now we're currently at the 2007 levels for an instrument that's supposed to be protected. So like if you have an aunt or grandma that has never watched Market Mondays or wasn't aware of me talking about this, like someone tried to tell my mom at the bank a couple of years ago to invest in bonds she's like they're no good and they looked at her like she was crazy and then the conversation started to happen amongst the bankers in a six month or a year period that maybe we should start stop offering these to our clients because they're not going up anytime soon so to see there's like the breaks of the economy going away and for them to say okay now we're going to tap this trillion account, but no one will still, I've asked every guest that has come on, every person I've talked to in Stock Club that I've interviewed, what's the real reason the buy market is going down?

7:01No one has a clear answer. This has been down for, imagine if Microsoft had been down for six years straight. It would be blood on the streets. So I think it's an issue that needs to be addressed and with the spending, we're looking at the national debt being at$42 trillion and maybe by the top of next year, something has to be done. And I think this measure is a little bit too little too late. What do you think? Yeah, I mean, we watched it today and it felt like last week when he spoke, Lutton spoke, it was we saw the market respond in a positive way. And he got on this morning and it kind of, you know, it was, I feel like the strategies that they're using are becoming redundant and less effective.

7:49and by that i mean right one week to the next the reaction was different yeah we we watched what you know the tariffs did and i thought we're going to suspend them and the response that happened with that we've seen the iran hey we're coming to a peace deal and maybe we're not we're going to extend this the more you use these tactics the less efficient they become and so at a certain point there's no more tactics you can use and we're going to have to face a real world scenario yeah and i don't i don't know what that is but in my mind i keep hearing you say the bond market's in shambles and nobody's saying shit that's all i keep hearing when i hear this and no one that is that day now coming i think so because now if you look internationally you're trying to force countries to take on our bonds and they're like why wouldn't this is like the big short all over again except instead of the housing market being broken the bond market is being broken.

8:46And then even for Trump to say, well, the bomb market is safe because we have warships. I'm like, you can't bomb them into buying a financial product. It sounds good, but even to have to go to brute force for a financial instrument tells me something's wrong. Something is deeply broken that they need to fix soon. I mean, I don't know if they will. I'm not sure if they will. I think if you've watched the history, especially if you look at every, it was great. I saw the statistic was every Republican president over the past 20 years. If you look at what the... Quick one before you jump back in. You're listening for ways to help teams move faster, make sharper decisions, and turn scattered context into work they can use.

And we're under that regime for the next two years, two and a half years. And so I would imagine that the debt is going to continue to rise. And so now what is, how do we combat that? Right? Like you're putting Lutnick and you're putting our new Fed chair in a very peculiar spot. And they both. Right. And those guys both used to work together. Shout out to my man, Champ. I'm sure he sent it to you as well. They come from the drunken military.

13:08Right. And he's that two of his his greatest projays are now pretty much the people who are in control of the United States economy. I mean, we could say that. And their hands are tied behind their back. and also to, and I'm not just beating up on Trump because, you know, MAGA and all that, but when you have a person who leads financially the way that he does and everything ends up in bankruptcy, Novigratz told us this will happen. Novigratz came on and told us, hey, he's traditionally been a spender. I don't see the debt going down under his regime. And here we are. Then we can talk about Project 2025.

13:46Some of that stuff is getting scary. And I'll say for the next couple of weeks, ease up on the ground beef. Remember what I told? Pause. Pause. You got to pause there. I mean, y 'all going to be eating horses. Pause. So I just think it's interesting to see the state of the economy. And I talked about it on Stock Club. Like the crash that everyone needs to worry about is the crash of the economy. But the S &P and the Q's, they're going to do incredibly fine because you need somewhere to place the money. And now it's almost as if the selection of investments is really down to 20 things in the world and the money has to be parked somewhere.

14:29So they figured out a way how to stop a stock market crash from happening. But an economic one won't be stopped anytime soon. All right. So that brings us to our next piece, which is interesting because we've been saying it for years. right when we see midterm years traditionally the S &P the Dow the Nasdaq have had negative years right especially in the midterm section this year has been kind of tricky I'll be honest we've been we've been covering it for every month every week which feels like I don't it just just feels very different we thought the second half of 2026 might be a little volatile it happened early in July which is traditionally a great month.

15:08August, I mean, we're at the 24th of August, and usually we see a lot more volatility. We're seeing some, but it still is trending positive. Volatility usually hits us in September. We'll see. What's your thoughts around midterm elections, how we go into them, which we'll find out who is taking the new seat or who's retaining their seat in early November, and then what happens post midterm elections? I think post midterms is probably the easiest to answer i think historically post has always done well and i think post this midterm election the market is going to do incredibly well this midterm is different because the crashes are lasting a lot less so we started to fall july 17th we fell up until what the 29th of july and then we went we took off to the races normally that rut or that drought would last the entire month or 14, 15 days.

16:05We're not seeing that. And I was expressing to Stock Club call, like any crash that we get now, they're not lasting as long as they used to. We used to get a two month down cycle. I think the retail trader who is like almost as good enough to work at a fund, it's a lot of them there. I think for the first time in history, the most million dollar accounts on a retail side are present on brokerages. So there's a lot of great traders, a lot of great investors. I know we played our part in that, but I think people are taking these opportunities to buy these dips and seeing a tremendous upside in the buying power versus so high that we're not having a normal cycle.

16:43Also, for the first time in history, you have a president go on TV and say, buy stocks, buy stocks, buy crypto. So that helps a hell of a lot. If and you can argue and say the days that he told you to buy them, you can get really good returns on the days that he bought them. Now, you can argue that it's not right. And I would agree. But I think once we look at the record books and in history books, we have to factor in that he is manipulating the market to tell people to buy. So allegedly, thank you. You know what? I feel like history might be being rewritten. in real time and it's interesting when i when they you know so specifically bitcoin has had a amazing three or four days here recently and obviously we heard about the clarity act and the september 15th deadline circle that on your calendar so you know whether that's going to improve all signs of that it will be you saw coinbase the microstrategy you saw the the the crypto space move a little bit and when i looked at the crypto cycle and you know having conversations Shout out to Austin.

17:55Usually the third year is the strongest year in the Bitcoin cycle. But last year was the first time that the third year, you know, going into it was it was in decline. And so, OK, now we're rewriting history. Right. So what does history look like now? So I'm starting to think about the marketing itself. And, you know, we're going into it. We think to ourselves.
