In short

The episode argues that most traders lose because they lack a repeatable process and use emotion instead of rules.

Key claims

90% fail to record trades; jumping between many assets prevents learning each market’s “temperament” (different speeds/buyers/sellers). Successful traders should trade the same instruments repeatedly, use a consistent target, and measure performance via profit factor (dollars out per dollar in). Another major mistake is emotional attachment to losing positions—“exit strategy is a prayer”—and trying to overpower the market. Examples: using different tick targets for Nasdaq/Dow/UB mini/“red wheat”/crude; MicroStrategy’s decline despite bullish expectations; Micron’s sharp Friday late-day move.

2:40The sale's right there. Don't miss it. This holiday, give shoppers a flexible way to pay with PayPal Pay Later and turn them into regulars. PayPal Open. Built for all business. Get started at paypalopen.com. That was tough. All right, let's get into talking about trading. Let's talk about trading. Let's talk about trading mistakes, the biggest trading mistakes, and also how to trade successfully in a tough market. I love this question. A person asked me, hey, if I'm running to rough patch over the last quarter, what advice would you give me for trading the markets now? and my thing is if you're having my three things that i always go to is what is the target that you're using are you trading the same assets over and over again and are you recording your trades and replaying them and i know people get tired of me saying that but 90 of people who trade don't record their trades so if you're hooping and you say well i think i was in triple threat properly but you had nine turnovers and the ball was stolen from you four times you won't be able to see it because the emotion is so high but the big thing that i'm seeing for a lot of people who don't trade futures you're jumping around trading different assets and you don't know the personality of them to be able to trade them well like i can use the same target for nasdaq Dow, UB, mini red wheat, and crude oil.

4:17They all have different temperament, different buyers, different sellers, and they all move at different speeds. So even though I'm using the same target, it's going to take me a lot longer to get a 16 tick target knocked out on ZB than it will crude. So I think one of the biggest lessons if you are looking to do better in trading is you have to trade the same assets over and over again. and know the temperament of them like the back of your hand so you can have a sustainable win. Because if not, if you're trading different assets all the time, it's going to be really hard to know what the outcome is going to be.

4:51Yeah, I agree with you on that. I'll just add really quickly, I think understanding what you're investing in. I feel like over in abundance now I'm hearing, I don't know what that company does, but the chart looks good. Bro, and they're looking at a four-week chart. I'm like, how far do you go out? it looks good on a month well let's pull back a little bit let's look at it in two years, five years let's look at it for miscinception, how has it performed you might be catching it in the down cycle, even when we looked at service now a few months ago I'm talking about, hey this is at we're at a bottom here we're below our 400 here so if you look at it now, you're like oh it's had a great two months, well pull back about a year and a half two years and see what it really was at and the position we're in now, but understanding it is important because if you dive deep into some of these companies, it all starts to make sense.

5:48The picture becomes very clear for you. There's a reason why I knew Celestica because I was on a rabbit hole dive trying to figure out if a data set needs all these things, what companies need to be inside of there, right? There's a reason why we knew Fabron. There's a reason why we even knew Corning, which I think is an incredible company. The story exists. We just got to go find the companies that are going to play a major part in it. So the understanding piece, not just looking at a chart saying, yeah, these charts are good. I can read the candles. This is good. I'm investing it. No, it might not be the season for it.

6:17Like you said, seasonality, or you might be caught in the uptrend that had just reversed from an extreme downtrend. So understand what you're investing, please. I mean, it sounds like a simple thing to do, but most people are just saying, all right, I saw it on Instagram. They label it as the top five stocks of the month, so I'm just going to go with it. Rashad, what about you? The biggest trading mistake that I think people make is getting emotionally attached to trades. and that's the thing that is like when your exit strategy is a prayer or you trying to, you know, will your way back into profitability or you just are afraid to sell because you're emotionally attached to it.

7:14Like the worst thing, you can't have any emotions in trading. investing, but definitely trading. And I think a lot of times, you know, when you do something, you think, okay, you know, you made an educated decision and you don't want to admit that you're wrong. But sometimes the market, well, all the times the market is always right. It's never that you're right. The market is right. So if you happen to be in unison with the market, then enjoy the ride. But if, if the market takes a downturn, don't try to use your intelligence to overpower the market. It's like swimming up a stream. You're going to derail.

7:56It don't matter how smart you are, how intelligent you think you are, how, like, you're not going to beat the market. If the market is going against you, call it quits get out retreat and come back fight another fight another day but um the emotional attachment to trading is something that i think is very dangerous and will end up costing you a lot of money and even if you are right it is very costly to be right and be in the wrong direction um i know you know micro strategy had a little bump and a lot of the micro strategy wars like hey i told you it's going to come back i'm like It's still down from 5.43 to 1.42.

8:38I want Saylor to do well, but he's fighting a fight against a system who does not like him and who is not in favor of him. Quick one before you jump back in. 9:54It's one of the first things people see, and you want it to look professional without spending weeks going back and forth between designers and developers. That's where Framer comes in. Look, you may have heard about Built as the loyalty program that lets you earn points on rent wherever you live.

11:08Well, they just leveled up even more. As of 2026, homeowners can also earn up to 1.25x points on their mortgage payments. This is thanks to Built's three new credit cards, the Palladium Card, Obsidian Card, and Blue Card. All three turn your housing payments, rent, or mortgage into flexible rewards. So you can choose the card that fits your lifestyle without missing out on points and exclusive benefits. Built points can be redeemed at top airlines and hotels, Amazon.com purchases, future rent payments, and more. Built points have also been ranked by top publications as the industry's most valuable point currency.

11:47Your housing payment is already your biggest expense. Make it your most rewarding. Find the card that fits your lifestyle and apply today at joinbuilt.com slash leisure. Seeing through BS they thought was going to slide. Download text now because it cuts out clownery.

12:26You can literally activate it from your couch. Nationwide 5G with the same towers the other companies use. Pay what you want or not at all. You're in control. Show these ridiculous carriers we ain't paying for stupid. because we're way too smart to pay dumb. Free app-based talk and text via the TextNow app requires Wi-Fi or data connection. Data plans sold separately. 5G where available. That's a major reason why the stock is down that much. A 3 % or 8 % bump doesn't justify the fall from full 543. So be mindful. And the other part is, this is true with me and even Apple and Microsoft. These, well, not so much Apple and Microsoft because they do care.

13:07the equities don't care about you though I don't care how much of a fanboy you are of a stock or equity I don't care I don't care you got preferred shares they don't care can't borrow against them don't matter stock will be fine so yes sir alright what about trading in tough markets how do you survive that um A, you have to know what your, let's say profit factor is. So for every dollar you put in, how much you're getting out, I still think you have to record every trade because a lot of people are over trading and don't even know it. Like for me, I'll tell everybody in Red Panda, only trade the American Open, which is 8.30 Central to 9.30.

13:56Then I get a bunch of reports from 10.30 to 12. Hey, what's going wrong with my trading? I, 8.30 to 9.30. And then the American closes the window that you can trade because once you go into that lunchtime hour, that's when a lot of the algos and the bots kick on and smaller funds are playing manipulation games allegedly with the market that erodes your edge. So and to be very true, I don't want to be callous in my answer. I don't think this market is tough. so if you're not trading well in a market where they're making sure that the nasdaq goes up and the s &p goes up and even the russell goes up and then the vix has been suppressed crew is up um i don't think it's been that tough i think you just need to find one or two things to trade that you know like the back of your hand to make it easier for you yeah like the last part prime example the single stock futures came out you haven't heard me talk about trading them one time i don't want to trade tesla individually like the most important thing to do is keep your focus on the main thing so mine is always will be escb nasdaq debt like i'm not moving out outside of the matrix it doesn't mean i don't watch the pricing but i think too many people hop from asset the asset and then wonder like we do market mondays every monday you don't see us get on monday and then like now is monday's cooking show monday mozzarella with ian and rashad and troy no keep the main thing the fucking main thing and you're gonna have fomo if people catch a trade elsewhere but make sure your numbers are so big and you know their numbers like the back of your hand so you don't get fomo from trading the two to four assets that you know um like the back of hand and you'll be good homo the time of 15th m six uh hey i told y 'all boy was finna drop

15:58real sick side yeah hey i need that don toller collab i know y 'all been to the brought him out and he brought him out in toronto and there's a plea yeah i was in terms of i'm kind of with you i don't know if this is a tough trading market per se um i always like to tell people especially for market monday's viewers we were here in 2022 when it was hey mark it down again mark it down again and still were able to navigate through it educate around it we're at nearly all-time highs for most of the indexes you know what i mean and any times of like pullbacks or drawdowns i would say look if it gets volatile i'm going back to indexes and etfs yeah i'm going back to just safety and being in the overall theme right i might be some great buying opportunities there but less individuals more ets more indexes yeah it's an easy win yeah it's an easy one uh and give yourself time as well yes for sure that that's probably the most important thing even on intraday trading the worst feeling of all is to lose on like a friday knowing if you would have had like another 20 minutes to trade would have panned out in your favor so even for my intraday traders like give yourself enough time and look at a high enough time frame to make sure that it can work out um and that's why i say if you trade the american open and american close if you lose an american open at least you can salvage some of it but time on your side is really important we were in a um shout out to g my brother he did a technical analysis class over there with the group chat and we were watching Micron on Friday and if you watch Micron the last 30 minutes of the day on Friday, it traded.

17:48It was at $1 ,102. By$359, it was at $117. Just that quick 15-minute move. We were like, oh my gosh, what is this going to look like? And then you got to wait. Obviously, it's a holiday on Monday. Now you don't see it, but it's The adrenaline of it is like understanding regards, understanding movement averages, all the things. It becomes, it almost becomes like something that's enjoyable to watch because you did the homework, you did the research, now you're watching the benefits of it. You've come to Market Mondays, you've taken all the knowledge, you've incorporated all of it, and now you're watching these things come to fruition.

18:25But like you said, time, time, time, all the way up. That's a fact. And on Wednesday, we actually have a guest on Blackout. We have Ashley Baroness. So if I follow her on Instagram, she's super dope and very, um, thought, thoughtful commentary, a lot around, um, race dynamics in America. So it's going to be an interesting conversation. We're going to talk about why I think WhatsApp is better than Instagram. And we want to talk about, we got to talk about Nas too. Maybe at the end of the show, if we got some time. Yeah. We got to talk about Esco.
