In short

Breaking generational health patterns and building a legacy of wellness through mindset, sustainable habits, and peptides/performance support.

Guest background

Kristen Gonzalez is founder of LuxEra Research. She works with women on mindset-first, science-backed wellness and habit change to break family health cycles. She has been in the supplement space for 12+ years and has used peptides for about 3 years.

Key claims

Generational “health curses” persist because people assume “that’s how I was raised” and pass habits to kids. Lasting change starts with daily mindset and small actions, not just physical tactics. Peptides are a tool (not the answer) and may help because peptide production declines in the 20s/30s; dosing and quality matter. Coaching/accountability makes habits consistent and helps families adopt them.

Notable examples

Bringing better snacks/lunches; morning movement (e.g., a 3-mile hike); using checklists, trackers, and photo/clothes fit instead of only the scale; vision boards and kids holding her accountable; peptide examples mentioned include GLP-1s for appetite/blood sugar, plus CJC for lean muscle, Tessa Moreland for stubborn belly fat, and MOTC for fat around organs.

1:12John Lee Dumas:Visit highlevelfire.com. Highlevelfire.com. Kristen say what's up to fire nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with. Awesome. Well, thanks so much for having me. How is fire nation doing? Um, okay. I loved this question cause it really made me think. And, um, I, I, there's so many things I want to say, but I'm going to just narrow it down to what is something that I believe about success that most people disagree with is success is easy because I think a lot of people think success is hard. Um, it can be, but to me, reality is it's really not that hard.

2:02It's, it's honestly just having that grit, that determination of being committed to be successful, whatever success means to you and just going after it. like I feel like so many times people overcomplicate it they think way too hard they think they have to have all their ducks in a row they might have some of those limiting mindsets of we don't have enough money or I don't have enough education when to me reality is like it doesn't have to be that complicated see what you're passionate about and go after it take the risk dive on in and you'll find out that when you problem solve and you overcome, it can be pretty easy.

2:44John Lee Dumas:Fire Nation, this is what we call a fire start to what will be an on fire episode as we talk about breaking generational health patterns and doing what? Building a legacy of wellness. And I wanna talk first and foremost, Kristen, about breaking that cycle because you love to talk about that, breaking generational health patterns. So what does that actually mean and why do so many people stay stuck repeating the same cycles? My husband's in financial planning and we talk about breaking generational wealth, being stuck in debt and maybe just in a not thriving financial situation. And so then I started thinking about it in the health realm of why are we stuck in health curses where it's a pattern that maybe we see from our parents, our grandparents, whether it might be the way that they consume food or the lack of exercise or not getting enough water.

3:46Um, and we just keep that going on in our family. It, you know, nothing against my parents and my grandparents. Um, but it was something I saw growing up, um, you know, eating out a lot, But which is great and convenient. And I understand like we have a lot of stuff going on. But is that what we really should be putting into our body and what are the food choices we're making as we're going out to eat? So I feel like sometimes we get in the mindset of like, that's just how it's been. That's what I saw growing up. That's just those patterns that I've been around, which we start to then pass on to our own kids.

4:29you know I was an educator I was a teacher and I saw a lot in the classroom too just like some of those generational curses when they would bring their lunch or their snacks and those choices and I'm all about health so I try to open up that mindset of being a little more conscious about what we are consuming and it's like we are teaching our kids how to set up the future for their physical body and their kids down the line. And so I just feel like sometimes it's that limiting mindset of like, oh, well, that's just how I was raised. And that's just how we are. That's our genetics. That's our DNA.

5:10When we have the ability to change that, we don't have to be stuck in those negative generational health patterns. We can change that. we can start moving our body. We can start thinking about what we're consuming and then we can start teaching that to our own kids.

5:25John Lee Dumas:So let's kind of move into mindset, Kristen, because you focus on mindset even before the physical results come into play. So why is that the right starting point if we're looking for lasting transformation? It starts with like asking more questions, I think. Like what is my day-to-day life like? Like it's a holistic picture. It's, it, it's like, okay, what's my job? Like, what is my, how is my business affecting me? How is family life? And it's really looking at like, how am I doing day-to-day activities and how can I start to make little changes? What kind of snacks can I bring? What kind of lunch can I bring to work?

6:05Um, it's, it's really just being aware of our surroundings and knowing that we don't have to be stuck in that generational, uh, health, um, curse, you know? And so mindset is very important. So like, what are you listening to? How are you fueling your brain? Um, who are you surrounding yourself with? Like you said, like that goes into business, right? We want to be like the five people surrounding us and we want to level up in business. but we have to do that in our health as well. So how are you starting your day? How are you getting up? How can you like just move your body immediately to start getting that blood flow and those endorphins going and that positivity happening?

6:50So you want to do better for yourself. You know, are we just slumping on the couch? Are we just getting scrolling on our phone where we're just sitting there? Are we really intentionally thinking about how we can make it the best day ever? And physically, how can I treat my body correctly? Because it is a responsibility on our part to make sure that we are taking care of ourselves. Because when we have our grandkids or even great grandkids, like, are you still going to be able to be physical with them and have that activity? You know, I just see some grandparents who are unable to do that and it really breaks my heart.

7:30And I feel like, you know, we, we don't have to be there. So mindset's very important. It's just like, how are you feeling the brain?

7:37John Lee Dumas:I love that. And for me, that's why it's a non-negotiable where my alarm clock goes off at 520 AM every morning. That's, you know, personal decision, the timing, but what's the first thing that I do? I get up, you know, I have a 70 pound golden doodle needs exercise. And I take a three mile hike first thing in the morning. It's just non-negotiable. I'm outside. I'm breathing in the Caribbean air. I'm watching the sunrise over the Caribbean as I'm doing my hike. It's a great time to reset my mind, reset my body, get movement. I'm listening to an audio book or a podcast or some kind of motivational thing.

8:08John Lee Dumas:And it's just the right way for me to start the day. And I know it's the right way for a lot of people to start their day because now you already had that in your back pockets. Even before 6.30 a.m., you've, boom, accomplished something very meaningful, very helpful. And we're going to talk about peptides, performance, simple momentum, building a health legacy, and more when we get back from thanking our sponsors. Today's show is sponsored by strawberry.me. I've interviewed nearly 5 ,000 successful entrepreneurs and one thing they all have in common, they've enlisted mentors, coaches, and people along the way to help guide them.

8:45John Lee Dumas:But where do you find the right coach or mentor? Great question. And that's where strawberry.me career coaching comes in. I speak from personal experience when I say that coaching and mentorship has helped me get to where I am today. In fact, you might not even be listening to Entrepreneurs on Fire if it weren't for my very first coaching mentor, Jamie Masters. I knew that in order to produce the best podcast, I needed to find someone who was where I wanted to be. Here we are nearly 14 years later, and I'd say I made a fantastic investment. So if you're feeling stuck or like you're ready to get to the next level, then finding the right coach can help.

9:20John Lee Dumas:Go to strawberry.me slash fire and get 50 % off your first coaching session. That's strawberry.me slash fire. Stop piecing tools together. Start building momentum. Visit highlevelfire.com and start building your something today. Kristen, we're back and I want to talk about peptides and performance because listen, peptides are getting a lot of attention right now. I mean, I live in Palmas del Mar here in Puerto Rico. This is a community of entrepreneurs, small business owners, and very active people in general.

10:38John Lee Dumas:They're just kind of doers. They're like type A personalities. And I'm hearing peptides all over the place. So where do they actually fit into smart, sustainable health strategies? The craze is real right now. You guys will probably see it all over the place and even more now that you're listening to this. But it's a tool in your tool belt. It's not the answer to everything. Like I said, the holistic approach is really important, but these can really, really help us. So peptides are naturally occurring in the body. We already have them. The problem is they just stop producing in our twenties and they start depleting in our thirties.

11:14And so when we start to replenish them, we notice how better we feel because there's peptides for so many things. A lot of people have just the idea of GLP ones, which is great for some weight management, some blood sugar and inflammation, but there's so many other things that help with self-healing with energy and focus with even tanning, helping your body get tan on its own. So, um, you know, peptides, I think are a great tool to fit in your tool belt. Um, and they just, they, they work. So a good strategy is to make sure that you're doing it correctly. I think that's the problem is like, sometimes we get diet dosed and given this medication and we're like, okay, now what do we do with it?

12:02Or you start to see all the different options out on the internet and you might find a website and you go order a bunch of them. And now you're taking like five different things, but you're like, is it working? How is it working? I think it's really important to do the research and know what the purpose is for each one. And then even having like some guidance, like join a community or find a coach or find somebody that can help you now that you have these tools in your tool belt to maximize the most because there can be things to do incorrectly if you're stacking too many of them or you know you just maybe aren't seeing results and how to tweak it and how to to make sure it's really being maximized so I love peptides I've been doing this about three years now I've been in a supplement space for over 12 years so I've done health and nutrition for a long time.

12:52And once starting researching the peptides and using them myself, I've realized, wow, like we can just accomplish our goals so much quicker, but it has to be done correctly, making sure that we're getting good quality, everything's tested. And because it's important what you're putting in your body, right? So making sure that you're getting the best of the best.

13:12John Lee Dumas:Kristen, let me jump in here because I'm just curious on what is the difference between peptides and GLP-1s? So GLP-1s are a peptide, but they're specific for signaling the body to feel fuller, faster blood sugar leveling, and really those cravings. So they're kind of focused more on weight management and appetite control. So they're just one type of peptide. Got it. Because one of the things I do hear from GLP-1, and again, this is just out there in the universe. You hear a lot of things, but you know, with GLP ones, like a lot of people struggle to maintain muscle or they lose muscle or X, Y, Z is the same thing an issue with peptides.

13:54John Lee Dumas:If that's even an issue with GLP ones, like what is your understanding of that? Yeah. And I think that kind of comes with that misinformation or dosing too high, too fast. That's when you do see some of those negative side effects and you see the muscle loss. Um, but there, there are strategies and ways to like go low and slow to increase the dose and not so much just jumping full force in there. Do we want to lose weight quickly? Yeah, that sounds great, but that also could have damaging effects. So there's other peptides, amazing ones like CJC that help you with lean muscle building. Um, there's some that target target, just that stubborn belly fat, like Tessa Moreland.

14:34Um, there's another one that targets all that bad fat around like your organs and throughout your body, like MOTC. So there's, there's peptides that can help you actually build that lean muscle. So you're not losing it.

14:47John Lee Dumas:Let's talk about simple momentum because like a lot of people, they feel overwhelmed when they're trying to improve their health. Cause there's so many things. It's like, I need to be doing cardio and then weights and I need to be eating right and sleeping and no screen time. I mean, so what are the simplest actions that actually create real momentum? My husband back in the finance industry with, you know, baby steps, right. And, um, having those small wins, same thing for our health. We got to have those small wins that increase our confidence and our excitement to want to move forward. So to me, uh, the first thing starts with the mindset, you know, like getting up, feeling your brain.

15:26Um, but then now that you've got the mindset going, it's making a decision and just really going for it. And I think trackers are really great too. I love checklists. I love like, okay, here's some things that I would love to accomplish today. And then once you do checking that off and so you're feeling like, okay, I did that. I can keep going. Um, I think the scale can be a deterrent sometimes because we don't see it move and we get so fixed on that number when it's like, okay, let's take some pictures. Let's compare our photos. Let's see how we're doing. How are our clothes fitting? Do we feel less inflamed?

16:06Let's compare our face. What does our face look like? Do we look healthier in our eyes and in our, our, our cheeks less puffy. And so I think action steps to create momentum is making a decision, going all in, fueling your brain, and then just really seeing the small wins on the day-to-day basis. One other thing I love to you is like putting sticky notes around my house and I'm like, with my encouragement, like you got this sometimes on the fridge, like, you know, we don't need to open the door today right now. It's okay. But just like, I don't know, pumping myself up and being my own cheerleader to, to know that I am taking the steps to where I need to be.

16:49And then like, if you need to get a trainer, looking for some personal trainers or accountability partners that are really important. Sometimes we have it in business, but we got to have it in our health as well. Finding a community that encourages you and it gets you to continue when you don't want to keep going or you, you know, get stuck.

17:09John Lee Dumas:Let's talk about building a health legacy. I think this is kind of a nice sum up of everything we've talked about. So like if somebody is listening and they want to create like a true quote unquote health legacy for themselves, for their family. What do you believe the roles or the role that coaching can and should play in making that sustainable? I mean, you just talked about, you know, having a trainer, having a community, having a group, having people holding you accountable, kind of really bring that home here. It's so easy for us to kind of have those cheat days or to maybe not be so honest with ourselves.

17:44Um, it's okay. We can just like sit and watch TV for 30 minutes, which turns into two hours, or we can scroll for a little bit. Cause it feels nice to just, you know, not have anything to think about, but then you, there goes like your whole afternoon. Um, so I feel like having a coach, having someone that you're checking in with either weekly or biweekly is so important because they're going to hold you accountable to what you said you wanted. Go over those goals with you, remind you of those goals and make sure that you're accomplishing them. So I think that that comes down to the consistency, creating those habits.

18:28And now that you are creating those habits, you're showing your family how to create those habits too. You're having your kids watch you include them, have them do it with you. Cause then they will start holding you accountable. I have a six year, eight, six year old and eight year old boys. And so they hold me accountable. We're like, okay, mommy, we're supposed to be lifting our weights today. Or like, you know, different little habits throughout the house. Um, even like prayers and certain things and they hold me accountable. And so, um, that comes down to that, that legacy that you're creating within your family that they're gonna trickle down to their kids and their kids.

19:05And we even have like vision boards and certain things in our house that we look at each day and it either has like a business goal or a fitness goal or a spiritual goal on there. And so it's a reminder of like, okay, this is why we're doing the hard things. And my little, my six-year-old now, he's like, okay, mommy, you remember we do the hard things first. Let's do the hard things first. Eat that frog. Yes, exactly. he loves that book when we were, we talked about it, um, that we created vision boards. And so he's like, okay, we got to work hard. So we get the pool, you know, in our business.

19:38And so, or the Disney cruise or whatever they want to do, but the same thing comes down to, to our health.

19:44John Lee Dumas:Kristen, if fire nation is really jiving with what you're putting out here, and I'm sure they are, what's the best way for them to connect with you to learn more about what you have going on?
