1:37Rudy Mawer:Hey guys, it's awesome to be here. For me, I mean, the biggest thing people miss when it comes to being successful is creativeness, right? A lot of people look at finances, they look at networking and all of those things, which I think is super important, don't get me wrong, but I never really hear people talking about creativeness. It's, I mean, my superpower, whether it's creating viral ads, whether it's creating connections and finding creative ways to get in with someone you really want to connect with that could change your life, or it's, you know, scaling a business because you're really creative with how you position that brand, that's something that's got me to where I am today and something that's super overlooked.

2:17John Lee Dumas:So we're talking about celebrity and billion dollar brand marketing secrets today, Fire Nation. And you, Rudy, have quite the journey to success. Share that journey.

2:30Rudy Mawer:Sure. Yeah. You know, I mean, like a lot of people in this space or building businesses, I was always obsessed with entrepreneurship. I didn't know it at the time, but, you know, 10 years old, I was buying, selling on eBay, built an online business, selling on eBay, I was making a couple of grand a month as a teenager. And then I built this massive online gaming community and to fast track time, became a personal trainer, wanted to figure out how to scale online and make more money online than one-to-one and trading time. Did that, figured it out through a lot of trial and error, four years. And then I built a million dollar business That's the year I moved to America with all those skills of actually doing online advertising.

3:13Rudy Mawer:And then, you know, fast forward to today that those skills and that's a big part of what I believe is like putting in the work to develop the skills, the track record, the proof of results. Got me to where I am today where, you know, we're running big enterprise clients, billion dollar brands. And we have some A-list celebrities as business partners. And we've helped thousands of students around the world grow their online businesses because I was a student of the art, right? There's obviously a lot of people that teach before they've actually done it, right? Whereas for me, I built a lot of businesses successfully and then started finally helping other people do that.

3:48Rudy Mawer:But yeah, that's like a quick summary of my journey. But for me, it was all about being in the right space, learning the craft. I left everything in England, left a family, like a partner, real estate, a lot of businesses. I had already started there to start afresh. And obviously, five, six, six years or so of being here, it was totally worth it.

4:10John Lee Dumas:Now, that was your journey in a nutshell. But the last couple of years, you've been marketing and running big brands and celebs. Let's talk about a couple of those highlights. What are some things that really stand out about maybe the past 24 months?

4:26Rudy Mawer:One of the biggest things in the last couple of years was partnering with a couple of well-known guys in this space that did something really special that a lot of people knew about where they took a lot of money and they took a lot of old businesses and combined them. So they raised a lot of money. Tai Lopez, Alex Mayer bought 11 companies, six were X billion dollar brands. And they used the skill set of myself, the team and their skill set, obviously, to take them back online. um uh peer one radio shack some big super well-known household us and even global brands right radio shack um taking those businesses uh that have spent you know 50 years building a brand name but couldn't adjust online to going online uh that was like the probably the biggest part of my last two years i started there as a partner with i on an agency then i went um and started running the businesses and eventually became co-CEO with him.

5:24Rudy Mawer:So we were running 300 staff, taking them online, all these businesses, famous household names to scale online successfully and obviously repositioning the brand to adjust to the new online ecosystem, right? So that's been a big part of it. And then the other big part is the celebrity marketing. So business partners with people like Mike Tyson, a couple of other A-lists that are launching very, very soon. And with them, It's again, it's taking, hey, they have mass influence. They have an amazing story, amazing knowledge. They can impact lives. How do we spread that message across the world and build a business model out of it?

5:59Rudy Mawer:Kind of the best way to describe that is like masterclass sort of level where it's coaching, it's consulting, it's education, it's series, it's challenges. So taking all of the knowledge of, say, Mike Tyson, right, and his mindset of success is called 12 Rounds with Tyson, that exact product with him, for example. and then using my skill set to market and Facebook ads, the same I did with, say, a company like Radio Shack or Pier One and then getting that mass reach across America or even the world.

6:29John Lee Dumas:So, Rudy, I want to talk about right now because you're obviously doing a lot of things right. I mean, you're building a great business. You're working with a lot of great people, a lot of great companies. What is working online for both your businesses and your clients?

6:45Rudy Mawer:Yeah, I think the ecosystem of going online, scaling online is ever changing, right? And what worked five years ago isn't working today. And that is 90 % of people's problem, the ability to adapt. And I hear a lot of people, you know, I spend millions of dollars a month on Facebook ads, for example. And a lot of people can't get Facebook ads to work anymore. And they come to me and say, hey, Rudy, Facebook ads doesn't work anymore. And I'm like, hey, I'm spending more than ever and doing great. But it's the ability to adapt. So for us, we're still running a lot of stuff that most people can't because we've adapted to the ecosystem.

7:19Rudy Mawer:And one of the biggest things I can give right away is there used to be a lot of focus on day one profit. Hey, I'm selling my supplement. I'm selling my T-shirt. I'm selling my product. How much can I spend today and make back from that initial sale? And sadly, that's changed. That's not how it works anymore. It used to work like that on ads. But nowadays, it's all about the lifetime value. And what we teach is, hey, over a lifetime, you need to know how much your customers are worth. And you need to be willing to pay a lot of money to acquire a customer because you're going to make five or ten times back from that customer over the next year.

7:54Rudy Mawer:And all the biggest brands in the world do this. I speak on stage a lot and I say, hey, who's ever bought an Apple product before? Stand up. OK, who's ever bought a Samsung product before? Stand up or an Android. And then I say, sit back down if you're only ever going to pay one time to that entire company. You're never going to upgrade, get renewals, get the apps. You're never going to get insurance on there. And no one sits down, right? Like literally no one or maybe 0.1 % of the room. And it's because all the biggest brands in the world have a crazy amount of lifetime value and product suites and ability to cross sell.

8:29Rudy Mawer:And that's something that changes the game for every business we're involved in is helping educate them to understand that. that, hey, a lot of the money is made from the lifetime of the customer and not on day one. And as soon as you change that thinking, it changes the game of how you run a business.

8:44John Lee Dumas:Fire Nation, I think that's such an important point that so few people really get. It's not about that quick hit of that first sale with that client. It's about how can I continue to serve them, up-level them, and continue to extract more value from them going forward so I can have that lifetime value be a really big number, even if that first time that they press that buy button is not. A lot of people are short-sighted. They're just looking at that one first quick hit win. Rudy's looking at the long game here, and that's why he's building these huge brands, these huge companies working with these massive celebrities.

9:21John Lee Dumas:And we have a lot to talk about in this area when we get back from thanking our sponsors. I want to talk about the future because we heard about your journey, which has been amazing. You talked to us about the last couple of years, what you've been doing in this world. We talked about right now, what's working for you because you figured out, hey, lifetime value really matters. But what's your big focus going forward?

12:52John Lee Dumas:What are you excited about?

12:53Rudy Mawer:Yeah, I mean, for me, there's like I'm always 1 % of my journey, right? People always ask me that. And obviously, I've achieved a good level of success in most people's eyes. And I think that's the difference for like how big my goals are. I wake up every day frustrated because I'm actually only 1 % in my journey. And I'm like anxious to get there faster. And I'm anxious to do more. And I'm excited to do more. So for me, I want to be a billionaire. And my goal is to be a billionaire. I'm very clear on that goal. And people say, why do you need a billion dollars? and I don't even think about the billion dollars, right?

13:24Rudy Mawer:I obviously know that's a crazy amount of money and financial freedom, which is important to me and freedom is the most important part. Money buys a lot of that in my opinion. But actually what matters to me is if you become a billionaire and you build a business at that level, you're able to impact and influence the world, which is what matters to me, right? The ability to impact and influence people's lives, to teach people like, hey, your life can be whatever you want your life to be. Your life can be amazing. you can achieve amazing success in your life you can build life however you want whether you're building a business whether you're trying to start a new career whether you're trying to get fit whatever it is so for me I'm very passionate about helping influence that change helping influence people to see that they can build the perfect life and what they're born into or where they're at right now doesn't have to be their future and then you know becoming a billionaire is creating like I said positive impact in the world and when you build something at that size you actually have the ability to influence and impact at such a grand level, that's what motivates me.

14:25Rudy Mawer:That's what excites me, the ability to reach that level. And also, I come from sport, competitive sports. So I always say, hey, I play to win, right? I don't play in the NBA just to play in the NBA and lose. Everyone in the NBA should be playing because they want to win the NBA. And that's how I see the game of business.

14:42John Lee Dumas:I love a lot of what you're talking about here, because there are a lot of people who will step back and say, well, you want to be a billionaire, like money can't buy you happiness. Like what's the point? What's the goal? Well, people that really believe that money can't buy you happiness have never been able to hand a blank check to a cause that they truly believe in. I mean, because when you can make an impact on that kind of level to something that you really believe in and you really want to see change in, I mean, happiness will flow from that. And then when you're talking about Rudy, where, hey, like I want to create a billion dollar business and become a billionaire because think about what that means that I've created in value for the world, how I've impacted the world.

15:23John Lee Dumas:And that's how the right people are looking at this type of goal setting fire nation. And you've achieved rapid success. We talked about your journey. What do you attribute it to? What is the cause if you really kind of dig underneath all of the points that you've been able to accomplish over these years? That's really been the reason you've had not just a success, but this rapid rise to it?

15:48Rudy Mawer:Yeah, it's a great question. And I actually only realized this probably more recently. There's obviously a lot of key entrepreneurial traits I don't want to underappreciate. So I'll point out, right, like work ethic, believing in myself, showing up every day, you know, putting in the work, accept and fail, all the things you learn online and everyone talks about, right? So that's super important. But for me, obviously, my life was a little different, left the UK, came here, started again. But what most people don't know about my background is my mom was a gold medalist in triathlon and my dad was the Great Britain team manager at three Olympic games.

16:22Rudy Mawer:So I came up in the world of triathlon, the sport, which for most, if you don't know it, swim, bike, run, very competitive sport because you're getting world class at three different areas of sport, right? You're a world class swimmer, biker, and runner. And I spent my entire childhood traveling around the world, Mexico, Caribbean, you know, Asia, everywhere, right? All of Europe to the going to these races, hanging out with Olympic athletes every month. So I didn't obviously realize it until recently. But you know, the only thing I can attribute to the fact that I want to win big, I believe everything's possible.

16:54Rudy Mawer:I just go for it and I commit to it. And I work harder than everyone else, much like a triathlete training for free sports, not one. It has to be that upbringing, right? It has to be that the and also my parents have always said this, that as a kid, they let me do anything I wanted, right? Which some parents would say it's bad. I never got grounded. I had my own food budget and money budget at nine years old because I, for some reason, asked for it. And they never stopped me doing anything, even if it seemed crazy. All my entrepreneurial things, selling on eBay. So they let me do whatever I wanted because they gave me that freedom, right?

17:27Rudy Mawer:That creative freedom to be different, to be unique, to learn money early on. They are not financially savvy at all, so it didn't come from them. But they obviously did have the background where everything is possible if you commit to it, right? And you work hard and you train every day. And I think I got to see that and I got to see what winning was, right? And that, hey, you can be an absolutely normal person like my mom was, just in a normal job, absolutely normal, but then becoming a gold medalist and a world champion because she committed to that, right? So for me, it's that level of commitment, that level of belief and that understanding that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

18:05John Lee Dumas:So Rudy, Fire Nation is made up of entrepreneurs, small business owners, people who are sitting down right now. They're listening to your story. They're inspired by it. They're understanding these traits and these qualities that you're talking about right now. What message do you want to share with them? What is the takeaway from our conversation today that you really think our listeners need to hear?

18:28Rudy Mawer:Yeah, great. I've got a good one. and it's something I didn't realize until recently and I wish I could have taught myself five years ago the one thing I'll teach my children and I teach my friends and my clients and staff everything you're doing right now and everything you're setting goals to achieve in five, ten years you'll have achieved them and you'll look back and where you were today that seemed hard like whether it's business revenue the amount of employees you have getting your business off the ground or growing your business I grew a business to one million to ten million I've run$100 million companies.

19:01Rudy Mawer:And you look back and everything that seemed crazy five years later is normal or you've surpassed it. And then you look back and you go, wow, that actually wasn't hard. And the thing you've got to understand, the thing I'm going to leave you guys on, right, this takeaway is everything you're doing right now, you could be doing way more and you could achieve it way, way faster. It's not a skill gap. It's not who you know. It's not that it takes time. They're all limiting beliefs you've imposed on yourself and society imposes. and actually what you're going to do in five or ten years, you could do in one year.

19:30Rudy Mawer:You've just got to ask yourself the right questions and how do you do that? How do I actually do that in one year? Because it's 100 % possible. And when you do it in ten years, you'll look back and go, yes, I could have done it in one year. I just didn't know and believe that I could do it in one year. And I often tell, because of my triathlon background, the four-minute mile story, right, where no one could run the four-minute mile. As soon as someone did it, after 50, 100 years of trying, like hundreds of people have now done it, right? So you've got to just remind yourself of that every day and realize your potential is 10, 20, 50 times bigger than you think it is, bigger than it is today.

20:05Rudy Mawer:And the only thing stopping you getting there in one or two years instead of 10 or 20 years is yourself.

20:10John Lee Dumas:Fire Nation, if you're not inspired right now to stop listening to this episode, of course, after we're done and then go out and double, triple, quadruple whatever timeline you had for yourself out there, then you're really not listening closely. Rudy, this was an amazing episode for so many reasons. I want to toss the ball back to your court here. If Fire Nation wants to learn more from you, from your company, where can we go? What call to action do you have for our listeners today?
