Jonathan, say what's up to Fire Nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
20What is up, Fire Nation? What's up, JLD? I am so pumped to be here and to give as much value value as I can. So that's a really interesting question. And really what one of the things that I believe in is that a lot of people, at least when I was growing my business, were like, you have to outwork, you have to hustle 15 hours a day. You know, if you're not doing this long hours, and you're not putting in the work and destroying every other area of your life, you're, you're not gonna get ahead of your competition. And I so disagree with that in every way. And I fell, I actually fell into that trap and was just getting burnt out and all that stuff through it.
02And, you know, what I really believe is if you're good with your time management and you're consistent, you can work less and really build the life that you want, which hopefully people figure out exactly what they want and not just what their mentors and the FOMO is all preaching online. If you focus on, hey, I'm building structure around, this is when I'm prospecting, this is when I'm putting out content, this is when I'm doing PR work, and then you're consistent with that every single day, I believe you can build exactly what you want without burning your area to the ground. Spend time with the family, spend time with yourself and just have a really cool, awesome life.
48And that's what I believe, man. Well, that's why Fire Nation, we're talking about creating explosive growth by reaching high performance in not 40 steps, but four steps with the Deem method. But before we do dive into all that jazz, let's get your backstory, Jonathan, break it down for us. Without having a backstory that's five hours, because there's so much to life. You know, I got to say high performance, I really believe in personal growth saved my life. I think my story really starts back to this time. It was like fifth or sixth grade. And I had this best friend named Nick. And he was like, just we did everything together.
27And his cousin, his cousin's name was Dan. And, you know, one day, his cousin, I guess, somehow got brought into like the popular clique. and I remember this day like any other day or just like you remember 9-11, you know, and exactly where you were. And I remember going to meet him after this class, which we usually did in the hall and walked and talked together. And he was with his cousin and some of the pretty ladies, of course, even at that age. And he just walked by me and he kind of gave me this look like, like, don't say anything to me. and for so long I didn't realize but I really took that lesson and I blamed myself I thought something was wrong with me I was a loser and throughout you know the rest of my life up until about 20 years old until I made a change I just had really bad confidence I didn't believe in myself I was bullied at a young age and it led me to like partying a lot and I ended up losing my job, my car, my girlfriend, kind of like the whole reaching rock bottom.
35But I didn't have some grand like life threatening experience that caused it for me. It was just a lot of poor mistakes with a good person underneath that's being blocked by a lot of ego stuff. And one day I was like, I have to make a change. And I moved out to New York in 2010. I was about 20 years old. And I was an actor on stage. And that's when I started to read personal growth books and high performance. And I was like, oh, you can actually take control of your thoughts and your mind and, you know, pick positive emotions. And that's when I really started to carve out who I want to be. And not only did I take control of my body and my mind and my spirit and became just a positive person that wanted good in other people, when I got to say back in other times, I didn't really care about other people.
22If I'm being totally honest with you guys here, and I need to be, you know, developing that was great. and that's really what started me off and I just had always had this urge when I was serving and acting that whole New York City thing you know I always had this thing when people would be treated wrong in the serving industry or when directors would talk down to actors who were struggling something about that just like I always had to step in and I was getting myself in trouble with that anyway but like I always had to stand up for the people being picked on and I just kind of translated that energy into being a high performance coach and really helping entrepreneurs, sales reps, and people that put themselves in uncomfortable situations to change their life.
04I want to help them be their best version of themselves. And it's just a part of me that gets me up every day. Well, that is what I want to move into because I really want to ask you why. Like, why do you believe high performance living is a way of life? Because a lot of people think it's just business and making more money and all of that. And yeah, that's a huge part of it. But high performance changes your life as a whole. You know, like, if you're thinking about your health, and if I'm not mistaken, JLD, I believe you're very focused on health. Very, you are not mistaken, brother. So, you know, like, even if you go, I want to be a high performer, you know, in my health, it's like good on nutrition, exercising a lot, like, eating right.
48You feel so much better. You just become alive. And in your relationship, how does a high performer work in their relationship? I started putting little cheesy love notes around the house so my spouse would have a bad day and just constantly thinking of how I can live the best life that I can. And this came from knowing when people are on their deathbed, they think about the memories they've had with other people, the times they've had with themselves. And I realized that every day is a blessing and I just want to live at the top of my potential in all areas every single day. And Fire Nation, I do want to say that once I realized a lot of things that Jonathan was talking about, about how balance was important, about how I was actually heading towards a burnout disaster.
34This was many, many years ago, thankfully, but I shifted into really saying, you know what? High performance is actually not just business, it's life as well. And you use, Jonathan, a specific performance tactic to double your sales percentage. I just have to say, pray tell. Pray tell. I love your energy, man. I wanted to come on and be like, boom, right in the beginning. So yeah, this one tactic, I have a lot of experience in sales. I've managed sales teams. I've sold 700K to anywhere about a million in different products, including my own program. And that's not to brag. It's just I'm humbled by it, actually.
18And one of the techniques that I teach, because there's a lot of things with sales, obviously rapport and pitching through combo and taking care of objections and helping people realize if they need it or not. But it's also mindset. So this one tactic that I teach a lot of my clients that I want to just totally just let everybody know exactly what it is, it's being intentional five to 10 minutes. You only really need five minutes before the call. And what you do is you sit and you breathe for a second because we know through science, super relaxes you. It makes you better to listen. It makes you easier to hear what they're really saying.
55And to say, you know, how do I want to feel during this call? How do I want them to feel? Which is number two. And number three is, how am I going to feel after I've helped them make a good decision, whether that's yes or no, right? So for example, that would be, I want to be fun and I want to be energetic. I want them to feel open and trustworthy of me. And I'm going to be super excited that I can help people elevate their life at the end. And even as I'm talking with you right now, like my body, I'm feeling the change and energy just absorbs people. So if you just do this five minutes before, rather than a lot of sales reps I know that just call, call, call, it's, oh, it's time to make the call.
36So they just pick up the phone and they call and they don't control their energy before, it's a trap. So if you do this five minutes before, you will notice a drastic difference in your sales calls and your percentage increasing and all of that good stuff. Fire Nation, I really hope you're understanding that you can utilize these tactics, these strategies, when you're looking to improve your business, to skyrocket your sales, to just skyrocket your potential life. And we're going to be talking about something that we've teased a little bit thus far today, the DEEM method, D-E-E-M. When we get back from thanking our sponsors.

Jonathan, we're back.
30Deem, D-E-E-M. We've teased it a lot. I want to get into it now. What the heck is the D method. This is the most part. I'm excited. So this is really what changed my life. And this kind of got inspired when I was journaling one morning and I was figuring out everything that changed me from who I was to who I am now. And this was years ago when I created this program. And what I realized was that there's a problem right now where there's so much personal growth tactics out there and high performance tactics that people just get confused. So I was like, you know what, I want to make this really, really simple of how to create high performance in your life.
09So I put together this deem method, and it's known for deeming yourself worthy, deeming yourself successful, deeming yourself a good person, really taking control of who you are. So it's the four pillars that I have used and created to help people create their highest performing self in the simplest way. It doesn't mean it doesn't take work. It doesn't I mean, you're not challenging yourself and you're dealing with some uncomfortable thoughts that you've been suppressing. But, you know, in growth comes uncomfort. And we have to deal with that uncomfort to grow. So what this is, is DIM is direction, emotion, energy, and mindset.
52And for direction, it's really about clarity on yourself and your life, meaning stuff like values, your beliefs, the rules in your life, because we tend to fall into everybody else's rules in their life. But so many people don't create their own way of life, their own beliefs, their own rules. And I want to empower people to think differently, to be themselves, because when you feel yourself, you feel alive. And it's kind of like, so I'm very into video games. I mean, It's a habit I had to put towards the end of my day because I love it. I even have a game night every Thursday of the week with some friends.
36We do like FPS games and all different kinds. And I like to think of clarity like the start of a video game. If there's any listeners, when you customize your character and you pick all the features and everything. I like to think of it as we're going to pick your emotions, how you want to feel every day, what your values are, like honesty and integrity and confidence. And I want to allow them with me to customize themselves into who they really, truly want to be, which is the clarity portion, which is direction. Once we do that, and that's pretty tough, uncomfortable work, but it's worth it. Once we do that, we move into emotion because we have the clarity now.
25And that's the part that most people skip. In emotion, what we want to do is we want to match the emotion of that character. and I want to teach in oxytocin meditation and different forms of meditation to start to actually fill your body with that chemical that's going to match that character that you want to be on a daily basis. And we do that every single day so that way we can start to internally feel like that person and remind ourselves who we want to be at the highest level, right? That 10-year, 20 yourself. And we want to feel that now, not later when the accomplishments come in. After that, we're going to move to energy.
07Energy is about, you know, you've created this person. Now we got to make sure that you can live in this without getting tired. You know, most people are tired by two, three o 'clock. So energy is about optimizing your sleep, morning night routines, law of attraction, these things that, you know, are really going to make you feel alive. So that's really important stuff like nutrition. It's all high performance work. And I lay out the steps. So it's just something you kind of do rather than figure out. And the very last part of that is mindset. And man, mindset is just, that's, that's everything to me.
46That's like, let's let, yeah, it's like, let's let the lion out of the cage now, you know? and that's really like letting go of judgments and fears. And, you know, now that, you know, JLD, you talked about, you know, my story or we talked about it here. And, you know, that's one of the main things, like I was just holding myself back so much. And I just, I see it in everybody now. And it, it hurts me because I want people to be and feel themselves. And we're just so trapped in this social media, which is great, but it keeps us trapped and just everything going on in the world and fear and worry.
23And to just let that all go and have faith that things are going to work out for you. And if it doesn't, you're going to figure it out and you're going to make it work for you. And just let yourself off the hook with yourself, stop judging yourself and just let yourself live. That's the thing that I really want to get to people. And yeah, that's the process that I take everyone through. That's so powerful. And Fire Nation, direction, emotion, energy, mindset. Deem, deem. Do you deem yourself worthy of all of these amazing things? And I do want to kind of stay on this point mindset as we move into the next topic, which is believing in ourselves.
02Talk about that because there's so much mindset there. To me, confidence is such an underrated quality that so many successful entrepreneurs have. I'm not talking about cockiness or arrogance. I'm talking about confidence and believing in yourself and that you have real solutions for real problems. That is confidence. That is believing in yourself. That is the correct mindset to have. Talk about that, Jonathan. You said that so like, that's exactly how I believe in it. You said that so perfectly because confidence I think really is underrated and confidence, you know, We've all been confident in our life, and we all know what it feels like.
45But when we want to be confident, we get in our head, and then we're not confident. And I always tell people, think back to a time where you were so you can start to feel that again. So believing in yourself, I think for me, growing my business and helping clients, and even on sales calls, not freaking out when you tell them the price. like all of that stuff came to belief and value and confidence in myself. And I think that that was the hardest part for me getting into business. And I think that's what stopped me for years growing my business because of imposter syndrome and all this stuff that you can go through.
25And belief to me, like I have a thing on my desk usually says like your last name. Mine says, yes, you can, because I needed an environmental reminder to tell myself to believe in myself. Every single day I needed that until it just became like a way that I lived my life. So for you guys, you know, Fire Nation, you guys are just all star people on this podcast and listening to this. And I want you to think about a couple of things. When you really believe in yourself, you know, if you truly believed 100%, 100%, 100 % without a doubt that you can achieve everything you're out here to do, what would you do today?
06And on the other side of that, and this might get a little dark, but it's not really dark. If you knew today was the very last day that you were going to be alive, how would you act? Would you worry about that negative comment on your social media post? Would you worry about what your family's going to think when you be yourself wholeheartedly? and would you worry about failure? No, you wouldn't because you wouldn't have that much time and you believe in yourself 100%. So what stopped me for so long, I really want to tell people, even if you feel like you're forcing it in the beginning to believe in yourself, just embody that.
52There's two real ways to change your state. that's new thoughts and that's physiology. So if you want to believe in yourself and you are struggling and you're worried it's not going to work out and you're going through these things that so many entrepreneurs go through, I'm here to tell you you're not alone and that problem isn't unique. So what you can do is you can start to embody confidence. You can stand up straight. You can put your arms up. You can jump around the room like a maniac if you want to. You can do whatever you got to do. But if you change your physiology, you can feel better, or you can simply have, you know, better thoughts that make you feel better.
29But if you just kind of make it happen, that you're going to create a habit to believe in yourself, I promise you, you'll feel better, you'll do better, you'll get better results. And you'll let yourself live that life that you want, because I truly believe anybody can have anything they want in their life, unless you're like 70 trying to be an NBA star because obviously that wouldn't work. But beyond that. Wow. I mean, Fire Nation, if you're not a little fired up about, you know, really having Jonathan hold your feet to the fire there at the end, then check your pulse. Jonathan, you've talked about a lot today.
04What's the one key takeaway? The one thing you really want to make sure Fire Nation gets from our entire conversation, then give us a call to action so we can connect with you. and then we'll say goodbye. Out of everything, I really want people to believe in themselves. I am absolutely determined to get people to change their mindset to believe in themselves and really just, we constantly treat ourselves way worse than we treat other people. And the way you know if that's true is talk to yourself for a week, talk to yourself as if a friend was telling you the same problem you're telling yourself.
40How would you respond to them? and that'll give you a perspective paradigm shift of how much you do believe in yourself. And then I want you to shift that immediately and start to honor your opinion, honor yourself for putting yourself out there. And if you're an entrepreneur and you're just a good person that's trying to treat people well, you are amazing already. You know, that's it. You should be letting yourself off the hook on days you may be tired and days you haven't done as much as you wanted to do. Believe in yourself. Keep that positive mindset. And I promise you, things will shift in your life when you trust in the universe to bring the goods to you when you show good to other people.

12Hit it in the beginning about the balance of your life and really making sure that you don't have to hustle yourself to the ground. Focus is huge with that. It's totally free. It's a 15-minute training and you can walk away with that already feeling the benefits of this kind of path that I'll lay out for you. So again, that's www.JonathanGilardi.com forward slash fire.
