Maggie, say what's up to Fire Nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
1:52What's up, Fire Nation? I am pumped to be here. One thing I think that most people would disagree with is that you don't have to be an avid reader to become successful. I know we're going to talk a little bit about me as an author today and my book and different things like that, but I'm not an avid reader. And I know that when I was starting my entrepreneurial journey, hearing in my ear all the time that I had to be, I had to be, I had to be, could be intimidating. And so if you are not that, that is okay for you. You can still be wildly successful. Fire Nation, I love that. And I can tell you that I definitely enjoy reading, but having interviewed 4 ,000 successful entrepreneurs, I have been astonished by how many say I've never read a book in my life.
2:40They are just hands-on, real-world experienced people, and they're making things happen. And one thing that I want to dive into, Maggie, that you've identified a secret. And this secret is a secret to eating that will treat our symptoms and have us feeling our best. Let us hear that secret. Yes. Well, first it's personalized to everybody. And so finding out what makes you feel your best, and this takes a lot of time and effort and energy, but it is so worth it. And then knowing that you don't have to be pristine, perfect, and your nutrition every day, all day, in and out, in order to allow food to really fuel your body and feel amazing.
3:25One thing that I'm really curious about when it comes to just overall health and wellness is do we have to go all out? Because I know that my audience doesn't want to just make these little minor changes in the health departments. They really want to max out their overall wellness, but at the same time, they're maxing out other things in their life, their business, their family life, all these different things. And they kind of might feel a little stress about the whole scenario. So what is the deal there? If we do want to max out our overall wellness to amplify the results, but not be completely overwhelmed, what is your process here?
4:06Well, I think first of all, the way not to be overwhelmed and to max it out is to delegate it, hire someone to help you. I mean, I even as a health professional have people who I hire to help me optimize my health so that I'm not consistently having to think about it by myself. And so that's one thing that's very important, but you do have so much ability to optimize your health in a massive way, even in a busy schedule as an entrepreneur, as an aspiring entrepreneur. It really comes down to nailing what the essentials are for you and your body and nailing down some core focus areas, maybe selecting three core things you are going to just be amazing at and really prioritize and identify yourself with, instill those habits, start there, and then continue to stack onto that.
4:56Now, we're going to talk a lot about food at some point in this episode. But for right now, I want to talk about the best way that we can get healthy beyond what we eat. What are the other things that we can and should be focused on? Yeah, nutrition is number one. I mean, eat for energy. It's proven. It's definitely, you probably know that you feel a certain way when you eat amazing nourishing foods and feel a certain way when you don't. So that's number one, but there are so many other things in your life that you can do. One would be reducing toxins in your home environment. I feel this is a very easy place to start by reducing, say you have a certain countertop cleaner and you know it's filled with chemicals and artificial dyes and just different things.
5:42Go ahead and ditch that and replace it with a clean version. There are lots of companies on the market that are highly recommended that you could use. Same thing with your hygiene products, your makeup that you're using or the shower wash that you're using, the things that you're using in your everyday life. Your water bottle, instead of using a plastic water bottle, switch that to glass. These are little things that you can get a big checklist out, go down the checklist, boom, you're done. Your environment is set up for success and it's going to make a big impact in your life. I hired Maggie years and years ago, Fire Nation, to work one-on-one.
6:17And I can tell you, there are so many things that are now part of my day-to-day life around what she's talking about. The air filters, the water bottles, you know, some other things that just seem simple, but like at the same time, I wasn't doing them. So they're simple to do, but they're also simple not to do. And so I wasn't doing them. But of course, when Maggie's like, dude, do this, obviously I'm like, okay. And now they're simple to do. So I'm doing them day-to-day and these things can all add up and they will all add up very positively over time. And we're gonna be talking about all these topics and more when we get back from thanking our sponsors.

Thought Leader is not affiliated with TED or TEDx, but they're able to get these results because their founder, Taylor Conroy, is a four-time TEDx speaker himself and past EO Fire guest.

That's thought-leader.com slash fire. All right, Maggie, we're back. And one thing that I know about my audience, Fire Nation, is that they love seeing results.
10:07How do we know if what we're doing is working? Well, number one would be how you're feeling, of course. Like, do you genuinely feel better? But that's a little bit hard to assess for a lot of people. So I like testing. I like seeing exactly what is going on in my body or my client's bodies. And then you can retest down the road. Maybe that's every six months or every year. You can get specialty functional medicine lab tests done on your body. And I know, John, you mentioned earlier before the break how you and I worked one-on-one together. You don't even need access to a one-on-one provider anymore to order a lot of these tests.
10:42So if you are equipped with knowledge around your own body, you actually have access to a lot of the high-level specialty tests that people like me order for our clients. So I think that's something that would be huge for you to track if you're doing well. And then other things like we have, for example, on our website, we have different assessments. One is an inflammatory assessment that checks in your different inflammation levels and severity of inflammation. And the other is called a total toxic burden assessment to assess your total toxic burden, the burden of all the different toxicities coming in at you from various areas.
11:18And we have those areas divvied out. And so that's a really cool way you can take that maybe before you start to implement a slew of health habits and then retake that two months down the road and see how your score starts to decrease and simultaneously how you start to improve in your feelings. Now, a lot of people in my audience are self-professed perfectionists. Like they just want everything to be perfect. But at the same time, they know from me and from other people that they need to try to relax a little bit and just chill out because, you know, perfectionism can be a big stressor. So tell us, do we have to be perfect with all of these things that we're talking about here today with what we're doing?
12:00No, I think you should prioritize, but you don't need to be perfect. So based on what's going on in your life right now, what are your symptoms? Are you in like a very bad place right now? And you need to really be pretty strict on yourself to get out of that place and to heal your body. You know, you better prioritize these things at a higher level than perhaps somebody who is not. But it is also about living a long term lifestyle that you love, that brings you joy, and also that keeps you healthy and thriving for all the things that you want to do in life. So it's about finding what that is for you.
12:34And for me, I personally feel that when you're in your own home, those are times that you can control. You have full control over what you are eating for lunch. You have full control over the products that you're using in your home. So that's a great place to be pretty perfect in for the most part, so that when you are out of your routine or you're traveling or you're at an event or a friend's house or whatever it is, you can be a little bit more flexible because you've built your body up so strong that now your nutrients are optimized, your immune system is up, your gut is on point, your detox pathways are open.
13:13You can handle more toxicities in those off times. Let's talk about your book, Eat to Treat. Fire Nation, this is the three-step plan to reduce inflammation, detoxify your life, and heal your body. Give us an overview of these three steps. Yeah. So part one is figuring out what the heck is going on in your body. That's figuring that out with specialty lab tests or some quizzes. And I go into deep detail how to figure that out, even if you just want to kind of self-reflect on it. So what is going on in your body? What are your imbalances that we need to tweak. Just like in business, there are probably some things in your company that you need to take a step back at and be like, that's probably not working so well.
13:55Let's fix that. So we're going to figure that out with your body. And then in part two, we are going to create an anti-inflammatory way of life by reducing inflammation, reducing toxicities, and enhancing your mindset. And then part three wraps it all together. I'm going to teach you not just what to eat and what not to eat, but how to eat and really your mindset around eating and nutrition. And it is so in-depth and comprehensive and detailed step-by-step, yet in an easy-to-follow way. So I'm sure after hearing more about you talking about your Fire Nation, and I know Fire Nation too, you guys are going to dig this up.
14:34You're going to love it. Love that. Let's talk quickly about one way that Fire Nation can reduce inflammation, What's one thing that maybe our listeners could implement today or this week that would do that? The first thing is if you have not yet, I guess, detoxified your home environment, that's something you can go out tonight and do. You probably are aware of, and if you're not, there are a lot of resources that will tell you the different products in your environments that are not the greatest for you. And you can swap those out with healthier items. It could be your deodorant. It could be your face wash.
15:08It could be your cleaning products, just anything. that's something you can go out today do boom you're done and another thing that i think is a good pantry and refrigerator detoxification i love it it's actually my personal favorite i'm even lighting up right now talking about it going through your pantry and your refrigerator and freezer and just doing an assessment and a detox throw out the things that are expired step one like that does not need to be in there get rid of the clutter get rid of the things that have been in there for four years because you don't like it anyway, throw it out, clear some space, and then take a good assessment on the things that are not helping you reach your goals.
15:46And you know it, go ahead and get rid of those things and swap them with some maybe similar items that aren't as harmful for your body and will help you to reach your peak performance and reach your goals. And so I just love both those things. You can go out right now today and do and have an immediate, immediate result. Share with us the process behind coming up with the title of your book, Eat to Treat. I really view food now as a way to nourish and treat anything going on in your body. When you are eating food, you are flooding your body with hopefully phytonutrients and amazing fats and carbs and proteins and all the right ratios.
16:32And just, it's just so awesome that we have the ability to fuel our bodies in this way through food. But likewise, we can choose items that will really destroy our body. It can wreak havoc on our hormonal pathways and our neurotransmitters and can make us irritable and stressed and have migraines. It can cause infertility. It can cause so many diseases. And so it's really a choice you get to make. Do you want to eat to treat each day in general? Or are you going to, I mean, as harsh as it sounds, are you going to trash your body? You don't want to do that. You want to nourish and respect your body and feed it and fuel it with the things that is going to make it happy and thrive.
17:15And so that's really where that title comes from is choosing the foods that when you eat them, they're going to treat you. They're going to love you back and it's going to help you feel your very best. Maggie, we talked about a lot of great stuff today. What is the one key takeaway you want to make sure Fire Nation gets from our chat? Take control of your health. It's up to you. No one. One thing that somebody said to me when I was going through my own healing journey, because I do have one of those, is no one cares more about you than you to heal your body. And so I want to inspire all of you.
17:49If there's any area of your life that you'd like to up level, It's up to you. No one's coming knocking on your door to, you know, ask if you need help or to pull you out of it. It's up to you at the end of the day to do the things that you need to do to make a change in your life from this day forward. What is your call to action for Fire Nation? Well, I would love all of Fire Nation to read this book because I know that optimizing your health and you waking up every day just feeling so good and bursting with energy. I know it's going to make you better business owners, better parents if you're a parent, better friends, better bosses, better everything.
18:25And so every single one of you would benefit tremendously. I think you should go to eattotreat.com backslash book and go grab this book and start diving into it.
