Christina, say what's up to Fire Nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
1:21I think what I would say is that money and wealth is not created around earnings and how much money you make, but it's really about how you manage the cash flow of your life. The cash flow of your life, Fire Nation. And our focus today is going from burnout to bliss, reclaiming joy as a high achiever. And Christina, you went from being successful but legitimately overworked as a real estate mogul to hitting a breaking point where your health, your relationships were suffering, and then it was burnout. Tell us that story. I say I just was following the entrepreneurial success model. just grind and burn and burn the candle at both ends and do what it takes and sacrifice everything in order to achieve success.
2:06And I did that I sacrificed everything and I achieved kind of pinnacle of success in my industry. I was a household name. I was one of the highest paid speakers. I was one of the highest paid advisors. And I was building and running my own business at the same time. And then that worked really well. I was doubling in size every year. I had a goal to be, you know, fortune 500 fast growing companies. I was on track, like all the things we aspire to as entrepreneurs. And like I said, it was working until one day my health came out, gave out. And that was it. I couldn't get out of bed. I couldn't think I couldn't talk.
2:44I went from speaking on the biggest stages to not being able to remember what my name was. So it's just a big wake up call that, that yes, there's this road to success, but sacrificing everything in the process may not be the best way to get there. Now, first off, I just want to share, Christina, thank you for being vulnerable about your story, your struggles, your obstacles, your challenges, because a lot of times as entrepreneurs, we kind of shy away from that because we want to kind of have this exterior that's like out to the world that, you know, we can't do anything wrong and we're just perfect and all these things, which again can lead to more issues than we even had to begin with.
3:24And you actually had a life threatening illness. And what that what happened with that was it led you to discover what the true meaning of wealth was beyond income. So can you share that story? Yeah, I mean, the long and short of it is I had a stress stroke. And I but I thought it was the pinnacle of health. I mean, that's what was so ironic is that I just was so stressed, but I internalized everything. I wasn't even aware of it. And that stress stroke basically broke my brain and everything fell apart from there. So a couple, you know, interesting points to maybe note is that I spent 10 years grinding out to build that business.
4:02And granted, I was on a great success track. My business was multimillion dollar a year business. I was putting seven figures a year in my personal pockets. The money was great. I mean, the financial success was there to kind of back up the, the entrepreneurial success. And like I said, I, I sacrificed everything to do it kind of waiting like sometime in the future when I have a lot more money, when I have a lot more fame, then I'll take time, then I'll be more present, then I'll worry about these other things. But what happened when I got sick and I just had a stress stroke, and it was like, everything came to a screeching halt.
4:37My business that took all those years to build, that I had partners, I thought it was leveraged. I had the SOPs, I had the teams, I had the everything, I thought. But I was really kind of the primary person behind it all. And the second that I got sick and my body gave out, my business within 12 months went from paying me, you know, lots of zeros into my personal bank account to where I had to start paying it to keep it alive and afloat. And it was just, again, it was kind of that wake up like, whoa, all of that sacrifice and capital and everything went into the business. And the second I needed it, it just gave out on me.
5:20And it also made me realize that, you know, there's a saying that says, a healthy man has a million wishes, a sick man has only one. And I live that, that when you're sick, and especially juxtaposed to all that success and fame, all I wanted to do was have my health back and have my life back. But when I was kind of on my proverbial deathbed and fighting for everything because I was just deteriorating so fast and we couldn't figure out what was wrong outside of my stroke, is that I was, you know, I wanted my own life back. But when I thought that I might not be here, we've heard this a million times before, but it's so true.
6:03I didn't care about my success. I didn't care about my trophies. I didn't care about all the things that seemed so important before. I was filled with this enormous amount of guilt and remorse and shame and lost memories. I was just kicking myself that I placed so much importance over success, over my family, my marriage, being with my kids, vacations, memories, experiences. And that's all I wanted. I wanted to give up everything I'd done in the past to get those things because I didn't think that I was going to be here much longer. So it just gave me this new perspective of like, oh, yeah, it's, you know, money is extremely important.
6:47and entrepreneurship and business success, it's just part of a game that we can play and we can be compensated and rewarded for doing that well, but not at the sacrifice of our health, of a good marriage, of relationships with our family and friends. And that the whole goal of life is to be able to have our health and wellness and vitality and relationships and love and be able to underwrite the cost of living the life that we want by virtue of how we make our money. But our money uplifts a good life, not sacrificing a good life for making money. Well put, Christina. And you've actually figured out that balance, creating that balance between financial success, health, personal fulfillment.
7:32How can we create that? What advice do you have for our listeners in this area? You know, the thing that I think is most important is answering this question that's called, how much money is enough? How much is enough? And it's equally philosophical. as it is very practical. But I think when we don't, when we've not done this exercise or put thought to this, the only thing we go by is more. How much money is enough? I don't know, but more than I have. How much success is enough? I don't know, but more than I have. And it's just this constant chase for more, as opposed to getting really grounded in how much money is enough.
8:09And it's how much money is enough to live, to kind of underwrite the cost of living a good life that's filled with things that bring meaning, value, experience, and joy and fulfillment to my life. And being very clear about what that is. And my good life might be different than your good life, which means my good life might cost different than your good life. I mean, you might be willing to make more trade-offs for a life that looks different than mine, but we all get the choice of what that is and the sacrifice and trade-offs we're willing to make in order to achieve that. So by virtue of getting very clear of how much money is enough, how much net worth do I need?
8:46How much income do I need to make? How much do I need to save and invest? How much time do I want? Where do I fit in financial freedom? And what do I want to do to accomplish that? These are all just real life questions that I think are really important when we set out on this venture and journey to be successful entrepreneurs and live a life that's full of meaning and a lot of joy and financial reward. Fire Nation, I hope you are starting to realize what's important here. When we're talking about financial success, health, personal fulfillment, like I love that quote that Christina shared earlier, you know, essentially the healthy person wants a thousand things because you can go do a thousand things.
9:25The world is your oyster. The unhealthy person, they want one thing. They just want one thing to be healthy. So you want to be that healthy person so you can go conquer the world. 11:58Christina, you've created something called the Wise Money Method. What is that? The Wise Money Method is a method for understanding your money holistically from end to end and how to think, start changing this way of chasing money and trying to make more and all the things we just talked about for the reasons we just talked about and being more organized around cash flow, this game of cash flow and understanding that there's really these three parts of money. And when we can visualize these and start to organize our life around these three categories, both kind of distinctly and individually, but collectively, we have a lot more control over the financial part of our life.
12:40And the first category is what I call earnings. It's how we make money. And in business and entrepreneurs, obviously, we go out and create things. We build value. We build these businesses. And we're compensated by profit. But we have to manage the money. We have to always be thinking, how do I earn more? How do I make more profit? But it's around the cash flow that runs through our business from the top end revenue through the bottom end profit and understanding that the game of business is really cash flow game. We want to maximize cash flow by increasing revenues, reducing expenses and all the things that go about to creating a profitable business that creates enough profit that can pay us enough as entrepreneurs to live the life that we want.
13:23But our whole career, we spend like 40 years earning money, like going to work one way or another, a W-2 or a business owner to earn monies. And it's that quest of how do I increase more value and make more money over this lifetime of working? But that's one category. And it's like I said, it's managing the cash through the business and then from the business to our household. And our whole household is still a game of cash flow. Most people don't think about it that way. they deposit a paycheck and they pay their bills and they hope there's something left over, as opposed to being a really active participant with your money, partnering with your money through how you manage money through your household.
14:03So earnings about making money, our household is about managing money. So make manage the second category of money. And when we know how to manage the cash that flows through our business, this is where wealth is created. Most wealth is created not in our business, but through our household finance. And so few people spend that much time in household finance. It's boring. It's associated with budgeting and these kind of antiquated terms that when we think in terms of cash flow, flows of cash, multiple streams of income that are hitting our household, we can start to create some momentum. But managing cash flow in our household is about two things.
14:42Spending, you know, the money we manage that goes towards our bills and the money we spend on a month-to-month basis. But it's also managing a portion of the money we make towards savings. And there's three types of savings we need to be aware of. We save for investing. We save for emergencies. And we save for big purchases. So out of that money we make, top line in our household, we manage it to manage to get the bills paid. but we manage it for savings, spending and saving. They're equally important in the cashflow management of the income we deposit in our household account. Then the third and final category is where we multiply money.
15:22This is where we put a portion of our earned money to work so money starts working for us, multiplies, compounds. It turns into exponential money, which is another word, another term for that is real wealth. And that's where financial freedom exists eventually. But that's learning how to multiply our money by taking that saved money for investing and investing in places, sometimes back in our business, but ideally outside of our business as entrepreneurs to start building our personal balance sheet net worth of types of assets that eventually will cash flow into passive income that allows us to walk away from our business or sell our business or do something so that we can live our life fully 100 % off the assets.
16:07And that's this game of cashflow kind of end to end. And so that's what the Wise Money Method is. It's like learning to think in terms, holistic end to end cashflow of your money so that we can earn enough money to pay for quality life that we want while saving and investing enough to be able to become financially free in some target date in the future. The Wise Money Method, an absolute masterclass from Christine. I hope Fire Nation, if you missed anything, just hit rewind button a few times, go back, listen to this again. These are words that you have to absorb. These are theses that you have to put into your life, implement into your day-to-day.
16:45And your mission, Christina, is to help entrepreneurs escape the month-to-month grind. I mean, I've been there. You've been there. We hate that grind. I mean, we want to master our finances. We want to build wealth without sacrificing our health, without sacrificing our happiness. Take us home from here. How do we do that? How do you accomplish your mission? Yeah, I think to put it simply, there's this money law, it's called the Parkinson's Law of Money. And the Parkinson's Law of Money says expenses will always rise to match income and what was once a luxury becomes a necessity. And when you really understand this law, it's a law like gravity, meaning it's a financial law that's always at play, whether we're aware of it or not.
17:28And but when you become aware of Parkinson's law and realize that every amount of income is going to be automatically eaten up by a new round of expenses called expense creep, that's where this cash flow management really building this relationship and getting very intentional about managing every dollar and intentionally flowing it for wealth creation. it takes us away from being victims to this Parkinson law, which is that month to month. Meaning it's very easy in business to make a million dollars, but spend a million dollars making it, which means you made no profit, which means you just worked really hard for nothing.
18:05Basic only to basically claim that you are able to, you know, you built a seven figure business, but you have to spend less than you make in your business to have profit. You have to spend less than you make in your household to be able to have savings. And ultimately you have more equity than you put in in your investments, it creates that wealth. So it's just learning these basics of money so that we don't spend every dollar to get off that paycheck to paycheck hamster wheel in our business and personal finance. And the only escape is spend less than you make, invest it into your business and passive type investing opportunities and do that for a long period of time.
18:45One day you wake up financially free and happy. It happens, Fire Nation. It really can happen. I mean, that creep that people have when they just keep getting those promotions and they make more money and then they buy a new house and they get new cars and they look and they're like, my monthly expenses. They're just, you're just still just keeping up. Like you need to figure out how do you break that cycle? How do you actually make your money make money? Your money is not made to spend money. Your money can be made to make money as far as money makes money with the right investments in yourself and other things that you believe in.
19:17Christina, how can Fire Nation connect with you? What is your call to action for our listeners today? My call to action is my YouTube channel. It's where I share more how-tos, like how to make more money, how to save, how to invest, how to invest in real estate, how to create passive income, how to build financial freedom. Just lots of how-tos for learning money. Money's not taught in school. It's not something we learn. And only less than 8 % of Americans are actually bona fide net worth millionaires. That means we're doing something wrong when there's so much abundance available to us. So it's at Christina Wise, my name on YouTube.
