Danny is the founder of Positively Present, helping others live positive and present lives through illustrated inspiration. Her latest book, The Story of You, debuts in September. In today's information, we'll talk about the importance of discovering our story, creativity, and self-discovery, how there's inspiration all around us, We'll talk about music and oh so much more.

0:40And a big thank you for sponsoring today's episode goes to Danny and our sponsors. Fire Nation, success isn't a solo journey. It's about who you surround yourself with. That's why I built the Freedom Circle, a powerful community of entrepreneurs ready to support, inspire, and share the ideas that move you forward. Visit freedom-circle.com to learn more. Are you ready for the ultimate all-in-one platform for entrepreneurs, marketers, coaches, and agencies, build funnels, automate follow-ups, manage clients, and even white-label your own software, say hello to our featured partner, High Level, and visit highlevelfire.com to start your free trial today.

1:27Dani, say what's up to Fire Nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with. Well, hello, Fire Nation. One thing that I believe that most people might not agree with when it comes to success is that success isn't always about constantly chasing more. I think it really ultimately comes down to getting closer to your authentic self. And I found, and I know a lot of others have as well, found that the more you connect with your true self, the more breakthroughs and success you'll find. Well, Fire Nation, we're going to have some breakthroughs today.

2:04as we talk about discovering the story of you through creativity and inspiration. And I want to start by talking about the importance of discovering our story. What is that, Dani? Well, I think that our story shapes the way that we see the world and how we move through it. So when you're able to understand your narrative and your story, you can choose what you carry with you into the future and also what you want to let go of. and also in discovering your story, you can learn about your strengths and your weaknesses and I think that's really where empowerment begins. Fire Nation, we're looking for some of that empowerment because listen, discovering our story, there's a reason why history is broken up into his story, her story.

2:51It's important. People lean in when they hear a little bit of once upon a time. We need to be good at telling our story. We need to understand and validate the importance of our story. And you believe that journaling and creativity actually aid in the self-discovery process. Tell us more about that. Absolutely. I think especially when used together, journaling and creativity can give your inner voice a place to speak without judgment, which is really how you discover your true authentic self. And also when you're doing any sort of journaling or creative act, you have opportunities to see your patterns, you figure out what you value, what you don't.

3:32And I also think it's important to mention that self-discovery isn't just about like identifying yourself or labeling yourself as this or that. It's also about creating yourself. So when you're journaling and coloring, doing any sort of creative activity, you're kind of meeting yourself on the page and you get to sort of work with yourself as you write your story. So you're also creating it in a way. Can you give us an example of how maybe you or one of your clients, somebody you've worked with, has done this in a very meaningful and productive way? And like, what did that turn into? What did that look like?

4:05For me personally, journaling, especially journal prompts provided by somebody else, gave me the guidance to start positively present. I was at a loss of where I was going in life. And I remember doing some, I think they were online journal prompts, but they really sparked in me to figure out what I wanted to do and inspired me to be like, okay, I really want to focus on living more positive and present life. What does that look like for me? And maybe I would have come to that conclusion without journaling prompts. But I do think there's something very guiding and very helpful about using journaling and channeling our own creativity that can lead us down paths we didn't expect.

4:47So what about somebody else maybe that you've chatted with, that you've been part of a mastermind with, that you've mentored, that's been through this process? What did that look like for them? I think it's very individual. I think that it can help you both in personal aspects of your life. But also, I think when it comes to creating a business, I think when you are guided by others' inspiration, you can really discover new avenues that you might not have thought of on your own. And I think this can be a really helpful thing, especially when it comes to business owners and creatives. Now, there's inspiration all around us.

5:27I mean, we walk outside any given day. We look left. We look right. There's inspiration. We can smell it in the air. We can see it in the sun. I mean, it's just there. But how can we use the inspiration of others to help discover ourselves? Well, I think when you connect with somebody else's story, whether it's through, you know, their lyrics, through something they wrote, through art, it's often because it's reflecting something that's already within you. And I really believe that others' words can be a mirror ball. They can reflect various facets of who you are and who you're not back at you, which I think can be really helpful in the self-discovery process.

6:07Fire Nation, you want to be a part of this self-discovery process because this is where the magic happens. And is it always comfortable? Absolutely not. But guess what? All the magic happens outside of your comfort zone. That's where the magic is. So let's get there with creativity. Now we have a lot more to talk about around this topic when we get back from thanking our sponsors. Okay, let's talk about a platform that's completely changing how entrepreneurs are running their business. And they are also our featured partner, High Level. If you're an entrepreneur, coach, agency, or course creator looking to grow faster and smarter, High Level is the all-in-one platform that replaces your entire tech stack.

6:49Seriously, think ClickFunnels, Calendly, MailChimp, Kajabi, and even your CRM all rolled up into one powerful white label solution. You can build funnels, send SMS and email campaigns, schedule appointments, manage pipelines, run memberships, and even launch your own branded mobile app. It's drag and drop simple, incredibly customizable, and built for serious growth. My favorite part, you can resell high level under your own brand. That means recurring revenue, loyal clients, and total control. So whether you're tired of duct taping tools together or ready to start offering high value services with ease, high level is your unfair advantage.

7:25On top of it all, their support team is second to none and has your back every step of the way. Seriously, every question that pops up, they will have your answer waiting. And if you visit my special partnership link, you'll get a free trial. So visit high level fire.com to start your free trial and see why thousands of businesses are switching. That's high level fire.com where marketing sales and automation finally come together. High level, join the revolution. Fire Nation, let me drop a truth bomb. The biggest bottleneck holding most entrepreneurs back isn't lack of ideas, tools, or hustle, it's lack of connection.

8:02And when I scaled my business to eight figures and mentored thousands of entrepreneurs, I saw the same thing again and again. People trying to do it alone, and that's why I created the Freedom Circle. You've heard me end every episode of Entrepreneurs on Fire by saying you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. That's not just a quote, it's the reality of success. The Freedom Circle instantly becomes your family of five and then some. It's a community of driven entrepreneurs ready to pour ideas, connections, and support into every part of your journey. So Fire Nation, if you're ready to level up and finally create freedom on your terms, head to freedom-circle.com to learn more.

8:39That's freedom-circle.com. Now, Danny, we're back, and I want to talk about the benefits of creativity. And this is even for those who don't think they're creative. of? Let's really dive in to that topic. I think creativity has many, many benefits. There have been many studies on it, on the various things it can do. But some of the favorite things that I love about creativity, my favorite things, are that you can process emotions. And that is important, both personal and on a business level. I think that can really be helpful. It also reduces stress. And I think one of the most important things is that it connects you to your authentic self.

9:20So one thing I want to highlight too is that you don't have to be artistic to be creative. I think a lot of the time we think the word creative, we think of somebody who's got paints out and somebody who's doing art and that's not always what it needs to be. Creativity is not limited to the arts at all. It's just about being curious and also remembering that there are other things you can create. Like you can create a meal, you can create a connection, a conversation, you can create a business. There's so much you can create and the act of creating stuff is really what gets you in touch with who you actually are.

9:53Now, I do think there's a lot of people that are listening that don't think they are creative. So give a couple examples of non-creatives, at least people who have labeled themselves that way, that could really benefit from the creativity if they just really were to be open to the possibility. I think that's one of the great things about my coloring journals is that it helps people who maybe feel like they aren't particularly creative and sort of jump-starting both writing with the journaling prompts and then coloring with the coloring pages. And coloring is a great activity for people who want to do something artistically creative, but don't feel like they're a creative person because all you have to do is choose the colors.

10:34You don't have to actually draw anything from scratch. So that's a great like artistic creative outlet for anybody. But as I mentioned before, I think creating anything, like if you love to cook, you're creating a meal, like don't, don't feel like you have to be doing art to be creative. Even just creating connections with people, you know, whether it's in the business sense or just everyday like interactions with strangers, you know, think of that as a creative exercise as well. And, and once you sort of open your mind to creativity in a bigger sense, you'll, you'll probably find that you're more creative than you realize.

11:08Now let's talk about music. I mean, for me, I can't sing. Like I do karaoke for fun, but I'm just definitely not a good singer, but I have fun doing it. And I'm not like that person that won't sing because they're just not a good singer. You know, I actually, you know, walk into my bathroom every single day. If I'm shaving, if I'm jumping in the shower, I tell Alexa to play some music, you know, play some eighties, play some seventies, you know, play some disco, play some rock, play some rap. Like I just mix things up. I really do love music, especially early in the morning. It seems to kind of get my juices flowing.

11:36So talk about the role that you have found music plays in inspiring creative work. I totally feel you with putting on music, especially in the morning, can't really get you going, especially if you're feeling slow, like you put on some good upbeat tunes and you're moving. But I think when it comes to inspiring creative work, music opens emotional doors that lead us to powerful insights and ideas that we might not have had otherwise. as I sort of mentioned before, it's one of the best ways to feel seen and to sort of explore how you can see yourself in different ways. And I think whether or not the music itself is involved in the work, for example, in my latest book, I was, you know, using music actually itself heavily in the work I was doing, or whether music is just in the background as you're working, as you're brainstorming, I think it can have a really powerful impact on creativity.

12:30So I would recommend people, you know, if you're not the type of person that is drawn to music to just sort of play around with it and try to listen to different genres and see if there's something that, you know, feels right and inspiring for you, especially, you know, in the background while you're working. I feel like it can be more impactful than people realize. Now, how can we learn from other people who actually profit from their emotions and from their creativity? I mean, there's a lot of people that are out there saying, well, can you really generate revenue? Can you really make money?

13:01Can you really start a business or run a business around creativity, around emotions? Can you speak to that directly, Dani? Directly, I can say. I know that's possible because I've done it. But one thing that I think that's really important that we can learn is that vulnerability is valuable. Sharing your inner world, your emotions, it's not a weakness, it's a strength. And obviously, this will depend on your business and what you do and how much you can share and whether it's appropriate or not. But I think with the rise of AI and generative content, we're going to see a lot more businesses and individuals highlighting and exploring authenticity.

13:38And in order to be truly authentic and, you know, truly human, we have to share our emotions and experiences. and with the hope that they'll resonate and inspire people, but also just to provide a connection, a human connection of authenticity. So I think that there's real value in that. And I think as time goes on, we're gonna see it become even more and more valuable. So we talked about a lot of stuff today, Danny. You know, we're really kind of focused around the whole conversation of discovering the story of you through creativity and inspiration. Speak to that, take us home on that topic.

14:13How can we discover the story of us through both creativity and inspiration? I think the first thing is to look at what inspires you, you know, whether it's, you know, a quote you read, somebody who is maybe in your industry that you're like, wow, that person's doing what I want to do, or they're just a really inspirational figure and just pay attention to what inspires you and use that to drive your work and keep you motivated. and when it comes to creativity, I really, really want to emphasize like be open to it. You might think, oh, I'm not a creative person or, you know, I think we kind of get labeled into these boxes, especially starting young, like, oh, like that's the artsy kid or those are like theater kids.

14:54Those people are creative and like, you know, there's the writer. I'm not that type. I'm not creative, but everybody's creative and I think no matter what your industry is, I think that using that creativity to gain more awareness of yourself and also your business can be so, so powerful. So definitely be open to creativity, no matter whether or not you think that you're artistic or creative. If Fire Nation's really digging this and they're interested in just maybe getting your biggest takeaway from our entire conversation, like if you want listeners to walk away with just one idea, one concept, one thing, what would that be?

15:30It would be to connect with your authenticity. And I recommend doing that through inspiration and creativity, but there are lots of ways you can do it. I just think that the more that we can all connect with our most authentic selves, the better off we'll feel. And also the more we'll be able to tap into work and business growth that we might not have had access to otherwise, because authenticity really, really resonates and it's really valuable.
