Visit freedom-circle.com to learn more. Peter say what's up to fire nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with. I do think you need to be obsessed, but I don't think you need to take cold plunges.
1:48That was one of the more succinct responses I've ever had. And it kind of making me scratch my head because I do a daily cold plunge at 41 degrees for five minutes. And I think you're judging me right now. I for sure am. I love her brother. Well, listen, Fire Nation, we're talking about printing appointments at will with a Scalify playbook. And Peter, I want to start off with just a simple question. Why should companies have an outbound call center? Because they can, a lot of people don't realize that they can actually own their own lead generation company internally. And that's exactly what we do.
2:26Meaning you can cut out the middleman and just do it all for wholesale and just scale it, Will, like you just said. I mean, that sounds really good because the thing is for years, we've been hearing stories about the power of ads and influencers and social media and all these different things. But let's get real specific. What makes cold outreach from a call center better than running ads? Is that weird? Did I say that? It's different. It's just different. I like to do flash stuff like that. Totally. It sometimes can be a whole hell of a lot better for a couple of reasons. Number one, it is super scalable.
3:06Hence the name of my company, Scalify. It is super, super scalable. It's really hard. As you know, it's hard to scale ads. I mean, anyone who's done it knows it's really hard to scale ads. You'd think it would just be as easy as just like, tell Zuck here, charge my card an extra thousand bucks a day. And then Zuck shuts you down. And you're like, dude, I'm trying to give you money, bro. What the hell? You're like, what is happening here? I'm trying to give Facebook my money. And instead they're shutting my campaign down. Like, how is this making any sense? And so anyone, you know, anyone who's, you know, has any remote amount of experience running ads knows this to be true.
3:41It's very, very hard to, to, to scale an ad, you know, in any major way. And so that's one of the really amazing things about a call center. I mean, I can talk your ear off for hours, but like, it's super easy because all you just do is add more call center agents. I mean, I mean, look, assuming that your population isn't, you know, limited in nature, right? If you're a local business and you're in a, you know, small little town, well, I mean, obviously you get it that that that's limited, but assuming you either have a national product or slash service, or you're in a very large metropolitan area, then scaling is literally as easy as just hire more agents and we can do that for you.
4:16So I mean, it is easy. So Peter, I love case studies. I love like real world examples. So I'm going to say dealer's choice, you in this case being the dealer. Give us maybe one of your favorite stories of somebody coming to you, a client, a customer, whoever it might be. And again, we can keep the things anonymous if they want to be private, whatever it might be. But give us just like a step-by-step walkthrough of somebody coming to you and saying, man, like I just, I need to scale. I need more leads? Like, how can I do this? And then kind of walk us through what they did and then how it improved their business.
4:48I'll tell you a story of what that just happened last week. I think that that one jumps out on my mind. I'm not going to do the usual like, oh, look, this guy just made, you know, gazillions of dollars. I think everyone does that. And that's almost like a little bit played out. I'll give you a real life example of not a story gone wrong, but just a real life scenario where it's like a bittersweet story. It really is. It's a bittersweet story. And so here you go. Here's a client of mine who's the nicest guy you're ever going to meet. He owns a roofing company in North Carolina. He's a single man operator, right?
5:18Just works out of his truck. He goes and he hits up storms and he does roof replacements in storm affected areas. And I told him, I was like, dude, like this is going to be a little bit, not overkill, but it's going to be a lot. Like your calendar is going to get full. You're hiring three agents that we're, you know, we're building out a call center with three agents for you. it's going to be a lot. You're just a one man band. Like, do you have another sales guy? And his response was no, not yet, but I'm working on it. I'm like, okay, you may want to work on it faster. He's like, okay, that sounds good.
5:48And I left it at that, right? Like I'm not your mother. I always preach to my entire team. I'm like, leave your mother in the car. It's not your job to give them moral guidance. It's your job to give them financial guidance, right? And business and business acumen. And that's what I did. Right. I told him like, you're probably going to want to hire another sales guy. And he agreed. And then he didn't. And now we literally filled up his calendar for 30 days. And this is not a joke. This is not just me trying to sound cool. Like it filled up his calendar for 30 days. And that was it. Like I can't, there's no point in having his team book appointments, you know, beyond 30 days out.
6:22That's a complete waste of everyone's time. So he ended up having to like fire at least one of his sales, at least one of his call center agents and may have to be too. So he may end up downsizing and kind of like a little bit ruining his own investment because I kind of warned the dude. It's like, man, you're going to need more sales reps and I'm here to help you grow. I'll do what I can to even help you recruit more reps. I've got a huge database of roofing guys all over the country. Let me help you. And so there you go. I mean, it's a real story, right? It's not just a here's how awesome we are type story.
6:53It's like, it's a real story of like, pay attention. You know, when someone, not everyone's always trying to sell you something, you know, I'm probably the most honest sales guy on the planet. I have no reason to try to bullshit anybody. So I was super honest and here we are. So there you go. So you mentioned roofing, which I think is really interesting and cool. Can you chat about the industries that you believe could benefit the most from a call center? Our focus is, let me start by saying a call center is a call center is a call center. So like once you have one set up and it's being properly managed and everything was set up properly, then you can utilize it for so many different businesses, which is so cool for entrepreneurs who are on fire, I guess.
7:33I see what you did. Okay. It's really cool for entrepreneurs. Because you know, I'm one I've been one for 25 years. The majority of my life has been, you know, being an entrepreneur. And we all are guilty of having shiny object syndrome to some extent or another, I have had to take medication to curb mine down, metaphorically speaking, but I've had to calm my shiny object syndrome. But most people have it in a pretty severe way. They're always looking on the other side. Grass is always greener. They're always checking out other opportunities. And that's cool. That's fine. I'm not saying don't do that.
8:10But what's so awesome about a call center is that once it's set up, is that you can use it for most industries. I'm not going to say all, but most industries. And to answer your question more pointedly, anywhere where a cold call makes sense, that's an option. So pretty much anywhere where a cold call makes sense. B2C, yeah, for sure. B2C, absolutely. Because the homeowner populations is massive, right? And getting those data lists is easy for us. And we can scrub and we can get really, really specific and we can really get hyper-targeted. So we can focus really well on the thing that it is that you're selling.
8:44So B2C, cold outreach is awesome. Anywhere where a cold call makes sense, but really, honestly, anywhere where you can get a list of numbers. So, I mean, I never realized that's a super vague statement, but like any B2B, a current list of past clients that you already got. Our specialty, however, is in mass outreach, right? Like if you're going to give me a lead list of 500 people, maybe we're probably not the right thing for you, right? Our job is to do things in mass. Our job is to, you give me a lead list of 20 ,000, 50 ,000, 100 ,000, a million, right? Something like that. Like that's where we thrive is in large, large, massive outreach.
9:24So I hope that answers your question. It definitely answers the question. And I think Fire Nation right now is just kind of cycling through their head like, wow, like in what ways could I utilize this? In what ways could I grow my business? Like what would that look like going forward? And these are things that we're going to talk about Fire Nation and answer specifically when we get back from thanking our sponsors. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. All right, Peter, we're back. And let's say somebody's listening, Fire Nation, and they want to try this on their own. What should they look out for? Look, I'm happy to give people guidance. I realize not everyone can afford this service, even though it's not like crazy expensive or anything like that. It's more affordable than you think.
12:29But I realize not everyone can afford that. Not everyone is at that place in their business career. I get it. I'm happy to give people free guidance. And look, there are four components to putting together an effective call center. Obviously, you got to have agents. obviously you got to have software obviously you got to have a script and then you need a list of phone numbers to call right now clearly i remember simplifying it obviously there's a whole lot between those lines but so the question now as you asked like you know what are the pitfalls there's a lot right because the first one is agents training hiring the wrong people super common fit the pitfall that i see all the time of people hiring people that really just aren't qualified for the job.
13:11That's number one. And then managing them, it's a huge part of the equation, right? Like you got to manage these people. You can't just trust that they're actually going to do the work. I think we all know how far trust goes in a game like this. This is keep in mind, call center agents for the most part, minimum wage labor, right? So they come and they go. It's a little bit of a fickle crowd, right? So they need proper management. So without proper management, problematic for sure. And when I say proper management, someone who's to run a call center, not just me or you, right? You got to not run a call center script scripting.
13:44That's actually probably one of the easier things. People tend to put too much effort, I think into the script thinking that there's like magical words to say. And while I do think that a good script is very, very important, I don't think that you need to like, you know, spend way too much time obsessing over every single word. Funny thing is we actually literally do that. and then the uh the dialer software uh not that big of a deal do your research get online right that's easy and i can help you with that no problem and then lead list that one's a tough one right unless if you have your own which most people don't if you need a lead list or you know a list of phone numbers to call that's a tough one i can help you with that you know we do that for other call centers right now so you don't even need to be like the clients of mine we do sell just data for almost any type you want, B2C, B2B, you name it, any type of company you want to, any type of industry you want to target, we can help with that particular type of homeowner anywhere in the country, we can get really, really crazy.
14:41So I hope that answers your question. Well, it really does. And that was kind of leading into what I wanted to talk about next was exactly what does your company do for somebody who's interested? So can you maybe take us through like, what would like the first 30 days look like? If someone's like, you know, I want to check it out. I want to maybe engage with Peter and chat with him and see what this would look like. What could a sample first 30 to 60 days look like if they were to engage in a service like yours? It's fun. I think that's the word that I like to use. It's actually really fun. Number one, from my perspective, I freaking love what I do.
15:17I absolutely love what I do. I just really enjoy working with my clients. I love watching business owners thrive and succeed. It just gets me excited. I absolutely love that kind of stuff. I'm a business nerd through and through. So, you know, talking with business owners is my language. That's just, it's just my language. And so it's fun. It's a good time. And my clients have a good time with it too. And it's exciting for them. It's enthralling because they get to watch us build out this entire operation for them. whole thing is d i dfy right i mean we do everything for you i always tell people like you don't really have to do anything at all we expect nothing from you whatsoever you have zero involvement all you got to do pay your agents on time right pay their pay their wages on time which is by the way an interesting point to pay attention to here because i always tell my clients like we you pay your agents directly we don't pay them and keep a profit on top that's tricky You don't want that.
16:13That's really bad. That incentivizes us to make more money and get you lower quality labor, which just damages you. We don't do that. We make sure that you pay your agents directly yourself. That way, we're incentivized to get you the best possible quality agents. So that's it. Pay your agents on time. We'll do absolutely everything else. It's 100 % done for you. We manage the entire operation. That way, you focus on what you do best and we'll do what we do best. And there we go. So Peter, I've been running Entrepreneurs on fire for 13 years, 4 ,786 episodes as of today. And one thing that I really feel like I've become good at is recognizing when people are operating in their zone of genius.
16:52And like, that's why I love hearing you talk because it's so obvious to me that like you found your thing, you found your zone of genius and you just love operating within that. I mean, you're now creating a business, you know, that is helping great businesses get more leads to generate more revenue and for everybody to win at a higher level. I mean, that is just so fun and so exciting. So I just want to commend you for that. And I love talking long-term visions because that to me is like, where are we going? Where are things above and beyond the horizon? So what is the long-term vision for your company?
17:30So first of all, this has been our best year ever. This has been my best year as an entrepreneur in my entire life. So I mean, you didn't even ask that question, but just you talked about like how it kind of like genuine I sound which I sincerely appreciate you saying that because I'm glad to know that that does come through on a microphone and because it's true it's absolutely fucking true like I've you know 49 years I'm is my age now and half more than half of that has been spent building businesses and this is the first one that I just freaking love because I actually get to help companies make money but in the past it was always some other BS, you know, consumer product, right?
18:11I've been in multiple businesses. It was generally consumer-based and that's cool, whatever. But like this, this is okay. Anyway, that wasn't your question. What was your question? I already forgot. The long-term vision. I get excited, man. What do you want? I love it. Long-term vision. I want to take this thing past a hundred million. I want to, but I have a plan. I want to, well, I can take this thing past 100 million without even executing my true long-term vision. My first vision is just to scale into a couple different industries. Primarily right now, we're focusing on home services because this works so well for roofing companies and for HVAC companies.
18:53This thing is just an absolute gem for those types of companies because they just fit the bill perfectly. so that's in there and those are such massive industries that i could probably stay active in there for the next probably five years before i even come close to tapping them out so that's where i'm going to be parking for a little while but then we're going to start expanding into other industries one of the areas we're going to go to next is real estate agents because every real estate agent under the sun wants more listings and this is an absolute brilliant way because we can unleash the power of a large-scale call center operation very affordably and get them booking appointments, in-home appointments for them to get more listings, we can average probably one to two listings a week for just a small operator.
19:36So real estate agents are going to be next on the horizon, but that's not even my long-term vision. That's just my short-term vision. My long-term vision is to then start partnering with private equity groups. I want to start getting equity positions in some really large companies that could eventually do some really grand exits. But what I want to do is in a more strategic way. So I want to partner with some private equity groups that focus on the industries that I'm in. Think home services, roofing, HVAC, maybe even solar, real estate agents, real estate investors, industries like that. Partner with those private equity groups.
20:12Come to them as a growth expert, basically tell them, hey, look, you guys buy companies all day long and you flip them. That's essentially what you do is you flip companies. But what you need to do is you need to grow, you need to expand their growth pretty dramatically, right? Three X minimum, right? Because you want to turn around and flip this thing in two to four years. We can do that for you at a heart in a heartbeat, right? That's our thing, right? So I can do that for you effortlessly. So for your portfolio of companies that you just acquired, assuming they fall in line with the kind of companies that we can help, which is why we're coming after you, Mr.
20:44PE group, because you focus in HVAC, right? So So I'm going to partner up with you. I want a small piece of the pie, but I'm going to do this for you at a massive discount, and we're going to help you blow up these companies so that you can part with them in two to four years, and we all make a shit ton of money. Cool? Cool. I'm saying cool as well. Awesome stuff, Peter. I love how you just break this down. And if you could just take a step back right now and say, hey, there's one thing that I want Fire Nation, the listeners of this show today, to walk away with one concept, one idea, one takeaway.
21:15way. What is that one thing? Be obsessed. I think you have to be obsessed. If the thing that you're doing right now is struggling, because I've been there, like definitely have been there, struggled for sure. If the thing that you're struggling with isn't taken off yet, number one, you just haven't been doing it long enough. It just means you need to keep going. Like don't freaking stop. Keep going. Keep making adjustments. Keep going. But you have to be obsessed. And you can't train obsession i can't put it into you i can't drill it into you you can't read books about it i can't teach it it just it comes by being passionate about the thing that you do and if and if it's not there then you need to take a look a cold hard look in the mirror and find something else that you are passionate about or modify that thing until it becomes something that you're passionate about and i think that's possible for most people so if the thing that you're doing right now if you have a view of a you're a mechanic right and it's just not your thing you're just you don't love it right and your and your shop is just kind of you know humming along okay but not great your mechanic but the thing you really love is awesome hot rods then tweak it tweak your business to deal with awesome hot rods because that's your passion the cool thing is you don't have to throw away your business you don't have to shut it down tweak it till you until it becomes a thing of your passion there you go I that helps.
22:35That helps a ton. And give a call to action. If Fire Nation wants to connect with you, with your business, wants to learn more, what is your call to action for our listeners today?
