And today we'll talk about making AI our new personal assistant, prompts to use, why people over 50 are afraid of AI, using AI for real life.

0:42And then the number one tip that Joel has for entrepreneurs feeling overwhelmed by AI and so much more. And a big thank you for sponsoring today's episode goes to Joel and our sponsors. Are you ready for the ultimate all-in-one platform for entrepreneurs, marketers, coaches, and agencies? Build funnels, automate follow-ups, manage clients, and even white label your own software. 1:32Again, request life-changing tickets today at thrivetimeshow.com slash EOFire. All right, Fire Nation, we have a treat for you. It is his sixth time on the show. His name is Joel Kamm. He is the inventor of the fun formula, which he put into practice for this latest venture, all about making AI fun, simple, and guess what? Actually useful. So Joel, say what's up and give us a quick update about where you're at in the world, a pretty cool announcement maybe you want to share, I don't know, and then let us know a little bit about the show. Well, hey, John, and hey again, Fire Nation, what an honor and privilege to be back here for the sixth time.

2:18Currently, I am in Breckenridge, Colorado, getting ready to head to Denver. Been out here for a few days with my fiancé, Aaron Fell. there's the announcement. Booyah! Booyah! Oh man, well, listen, lucky girl, lucky guy. You guys have been part of our lives for a long time and we've taken some epic trips together. We have some future epic trips together and it's just wonderful being able to see how everything has now come together in such an exciting way and I know that we have a save the date on the line. So a lot of fun things to talk about, but we're focusing today all about AI, about artificial intelligence, making it fun, making it simple, making it actually useful.

3:00Because Joel, you actually believe that AI is the new personal assistant. So share why this is the case. And I love this next thing about how we can prompt it like a pro. Yeah, you know, all of a sudden, we don't have to go to Google or the other search engines to look up something to get a list of links to then go do further research. With AI, we have all these tools that we can just ask questions of it right away and get the answer. And it's so practical in so many instances. Here in Breckenridge, there's all this kind of wildlife out here and I'm walking down the street and I see a flower. I'm like, what kind of flower is that?

3:40I take a picture of it. I send it to Grok and I say, what kind of flower is this? Boom, instantly, I've got all the information I could possibly want on that flower. Now extrapolate that same idea to anything in the known universe and AI can help you with it. I love this. And in the introduction, I already talked a little bit about your new show, AI for Everyone. We're going to get a little more into that in a second here, but I actually want to share one of my favorite recent AI, just amazing, just, I guess I'll call it a breakthrough because to me, it was a mental breakthrough where I got this email from an investment that I had made a couple of years ago.

4:21And essentially the person said like, listen, John, some things have changed. It looks like, you know, the investment is not going great. So we just need you to sign this and you know, you're going to get basically a full payout on your initial investment. It was 63 pages. I was of course not going to go through that. And of course, I should have sent it to my lawyer because this is kind of an important deal, but that would have cost me hundreds, if not thousands of dollars just to get my lawyer's opinion, which probably would have been mediocre to be honest. I uploaded it into chat GPT and 30 seconds, it came back with like basically five things I needed to ask about and like four realities of this new quote unquote thing that I was signing.

5:01I sent it back to this investor like within three minutes. Cause he, you know, he's like, how did your lawyer get this turned around so fast? And I was like, no, um, he, it was, it was, this was, this was chat GPT number one and number two are, is this real? He's like, yeah, I'm kind of embarrassed to say, but that's actually the facts. So like, like I was blown. I was like, wow. And 30 seconds, I was able to have chat GPT completely diagnose a document, like basically call out somebody that was trying to get me to sign something that I really should not be signing because it was putting me in a bad situation.

5:30Whereas like I would have had to spend thousands of dollars to find that out in the first place. And it's like insane what we can do these days if we do it correctly. That is so amazing. And you know what? Claude is even better with documents. But it's so smart that you did that. You sent it to chat GPT Esquire. And you got those answers right away. And that's why I love talking with people like you, Joel, because you're keeping your finger on the pulse. I would never have known that Claude would be better at documents because the fact is I'm closing in on 50 pretty quickly myself. Most people over 50, they're afraid of AI.

6:10They're afraid of artificial intelligence. So I want you to share a mindset shift as well as this little fun aha moment that changes everything when it comes to AI. Well, you know, I think AI has come on so quickly, right? Everybody, the boomers and the Gen X, we've seen technology accelerate faster than we could possibly imagine. And some of it can be kind of scary. But like all technology, it's amoral, right? You know, you could hear these stories about people getting scammed with AI just as they've been scammed without it. You can think about all the films we've seen, you know, with Skynet, Terminator and The Matrix.

6:50and it can be very frightening. But the technology itself is amoral. It's what we do with it as a human race that tells us whether it's going to be for good or for bad. And I think a lot of people, especially those who see it just all of a sudden coming up on them going, wait, I just got used to using an iPhone or an Android. This stuff scares me. The goal here is to make it easy for them to say, hey, here's how to use AI for good to truly improve the quality of your life. Now, that was kind of a very cool mindset shift. And I think that's really important. I just kind of shared a pretty cool aha moment that I had with AI and its power.

7:30Do you have like one of those aha moments that you've experienced like recently or maybe back at the beginning that kind of inspired you to launch your new show? I really did. It's a great question. the show itself is a result of my aha moment. So, you know, John, it's been a few years that I've been living in Puerto Rico as your neighbor now. And there's not really been a thing for me. You know, you mentioned earlier that the fun formula is my MO and what I teach to people. And that is that, you know, you're curious and, and take risks and then trust the process, wait first, that thing to come your way that really stimulates you.

8:07And it wasn't until, you know, a few months ago, Aaron and I were on a cruise and we heard that there was an enrichment speaker on the cruise that was speaking about AI. Now we didn't go to the session, but we heard from others that the session didn't go well and people didn't like it. Now on this cruise, the median age was 71 years old. And it dawned on me that perhaps this AI speaker frightened them. Perhaps he talked over their heads. And I thought to myself, you know what, I've made a whole career out of making seemingly complex subject matter easy to understand. I bet I could help reach that audience.

8:44So I went into ChatGPT, I created a project, and I started asking, hey, is there anybody out there that's really teaching directly to this audience of 55 plus people that are either frightened or curious or overwhelmed about AI? And it did all the research for me and pointed out the shows that are in the AI space, but came back and said, Joel, this is your sweet spot. This is made for you. And then I went and said, okay, tell me more about what kind of format I should do, what kind of content you think would keep it simple and easy. And as I went through that process with ChatGPT, I thought, I have to launch this show.

9:24There was my aha. You did have to launch the show because there are just so many people that they keep hearing it over and over again, whether it's on the news, whether it's on a podcast they listen to, or whether it's from their grandkids, like fill in the blank. And they know it's there and they know it's useful. Like a great, another example. I mean, it just never ends by the way. Like Kate has been dealing, this is my wife, with some acid reflux and it's really been affecting her, especially at night. And I literally just went to chat GPT and said, Hey, can you just, just, these are the symptoms.

9:57this is what's happening what what should we do and not only gave us like a four-step process that we've already implemented it gave her a seven-day food plan like it was like unbelievable like how quickly these it gave us links to the things on amazon we needed to buy like it was just so amazing where before it's like we have to go to google then we have to search then we have to verify that the certain that you know the blog post like what are what are there like what are they trying to sell? Like, are these affiliate link? Like, you know, like what's behind their reasoning for recommending this stuff?

10:30You never really know. And it's like, so you had to work to work to get the answers where now it's just like, I can just sit back and just, I've chosen to trust AI that I'm going to get fantastic results if I use it correctly. And frankly, that's what your show is bringing to the masses. It's AI for everyone. You're just a natural speaker, you're a natural presenter, you're a curious person. You just have a way of explaining things that people can actually understand, which is why I love the fact that you're going specifically after the demographic of 50 plus because, hey, these are the people that you're speaking to.

11:07And it's us, it's our generation. We need the most help when it comes to this stuff because we don't like change. People, they're scared of change. They're affected by what might be different. So I want to talk about a lot more details, Joel. We have some really cool things to talk about when we get back from thanking our sponsors. Okay. Let's talk about a platform that's completely changing how entrepreneurs are running their business. And they are also our featured partner, HighLevel. If you're an entrepreneur, coach, agency, or course creator looking to grow faster and smarter, HighLevel is the all-in-one platform that replaces your entire tech stack.

14:03Joe, we're back and I want to talk about AI for real life because it's one thing to kind of have AI kind of up in the airy fairy kind of doing its thing, but we're practical people. How can we use AI for real life? Yeah, well, it's a great question. And I try to break down each episode to teach one practical thing that people can do. And the episode that I just put out is all about how to make a song in less than 30 seconds. There's a tool called Suno. And you and I have played with this, S-U-N-O dot com. There's also an app for this. and I have found myself sitting around the dinner table with friends and somebody will say something really interesting about an experience they had.

14:49I go into chat GPT, I tell it to write lyrics to the song and then I drop it into the Suno app and tell it to give me a style of song. Boom, instant song. And people are like, how did you do that? That's absolutely magical. And on a previous episode, in episode seven, I believe it was, I was with my mom, my almost 85 year old mother who's still incredibly active and travels the world. She's just such a delight. And I showed her how we would take an old photo of her parents and we animated it and brought it to life with AI in a minute. And she had this aha moment herself like, wow, how did that happen?

15:32Now she's using AI to create thumbnails for her YouTube channel, Travels with Sheila, up because she realized her thumbnails were not anything custom, and she's having a blast doing it. It's knowledge. It's once you know how to do it, it becomes so much more interesting and exciting. What is that place that you go to that you just mentioned that you can turn photos to real life? It's called Kling, K-L-I-N-G dot A-I. There's actually a lot of different tools that can bring photos to life and create animations. But that's the one that I've been using and the one that I demonstrated in, I think, episode seven.

16:14And there's, like many of the AI tools, there's free trials. Because all of the tools obviously want to sell you a subscription, but most of them allow you a certain number of free credits to try it out. Like Suno, you can make five songs a day for free without ever paying for it. And I think when you sign up for Kling, you could do a couple different tasks with photos for free before you would sign up for a plan of some kind. Yeah. One thing I've been seeing on YouTube that's kind of been drawing me in, and these are now having like tens, if not hundreds and hundreds of thousands of views, is they're taking old specifically for me, because I guess of my history, like I love American history.

16:57they've been serving me these videos of bringing Civil War photos to life and what it is is essentially it's just an old static photo but then the AI takes it and it's just people like laying in a field like relaxing like after a battle or doing whatever they're doing and what happens? They actually, it turns it to color and then they stand up they quickly interact with each other and they kind of walk off and I'm like, it just like makes it real and it's such a crazy feeling to be like, wow like this static photo that I really couldn't connect with because it just felt so old. It was grainy. It was black and white.

17:31It took it and it made it real. I felt like I was in that moment. The grass was like waving in the wind and I'm like, this is nuts what AI can do. So Joel, break down three ways that entrepreneurs, our listeners, can use AI right now to save time and to, of course, boost creativity. Well, if you haven't created an account with either ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok, that's where you've got to start. You've got to pick the AI that's right for you and for your business. And all of them allow you the ability to create projects so that within a project, you can have different chats with the AI and they can cross-reference across one another.

18:18So for this very podcast and for the object of speaking on cruise ships as an enrichment speaker, I have set up a chat GPT called AI for Everyone. And within it, I have the podcast episode planning. I have a podcast visual design that I use to create all the thumbnails and graphics. I have a marketing plan for it. I have my plan for reaching out to the various cruise lines to see who do I need to speak with there in order to secure some slots on these liners. I have a different chat for articles that I'm writing. All of this under one project. So that's the first thing I recommend is you start a project.

19:03Then I would say build a custom agent. All of them have this functionality as well. I'm doing mine on chat GPT. And I gave my chat GPT the name Merlin because AI kind of feels like magic. And Merlin and I are creating alchemy together. And so I created a prompt that would pull in everything that it knew that the web, the internet knows about me from my blog, from my articles, from my social media, from my YouTube videos, from my books. And there's a knowledge base now of everything related to me and I can look at it. It's called Joel Com Agent and it gives me some ideas. It says, do you want to share lessons from my book, The AdSense Code?

19:48Do you want to know how Web3 trends are moving along in 2025? I can click a button that says, explain how Joel became a live video expert. So build your custom agent using whichever tool you select. They have different names for them, depending which tool you're using. But all of a sudden, you will have this knowledge base of all of the things that you have taught, written, spoken about, done interviews on. And I still need to upload more because there's so much information out there. And having it all in one knowledge base makes it super easy. I think everybody should do that for themselves and for their business, whatever it is.

20:27Well, I can just say that I'm personally excited to be your friend because I know that now through you, I'm going to stay up to date on the things that I need to be knowing and doing when it comes to AI. And of course, I'm a subscriber to your YouTube channel, which I encourage everybody to check out because listen, AI is for everyone. And if you're over 50, let's not let that stop you from embracing AI. In fact, there's a lot of things that I think AI is going to do to elongate our lives. I mean, I'm using it for health and wellness and different things that I'm planning as well. So I mean, it's just it's endless.

21:01And you can take a little spark of an idea that you have just like Joel had on the cruise ship, little spark of an idea, you can turn it into something really exciting, a real business. And somebody made the comment. And I totally agree with this that the first billion dollar company that's run by one person has already been created by AI, like maybe they haven't reached a billion dollars yet, but they're heading towards a billion dollar valuation. And it's going to be one person because they're able to use AI to leverage the absolute genius of all things artificial intelligence to grow what's going to be a billion dollar plus business.

21:39Now, you have a lot of tips, Joel, and Fire Nation's wanting all of them. So they're going to check out AI for everyone in your YouTube channel. But what would you say your number one tip for entrepreneurs who are feeling overwhelmed by AI? Well, you know, I think we are used to overwhelm in all past technology shifts, right? When the web came around, and I spotted it back in 1995, it didn't scare me at first. But as people first got on the internet, it was very scary. What is this tool? What is this thing called a web browser? You know, what are these websites? And smartphones came along. All of a sudden, we weren't using our flip phones.

22:18We had these computers in our hand. And I think a lot of people and entrepreneurs feel that way about AI. There's so much happening. It's moving so quickly. There's so many tools. It can feel incredibly overwhelming. So really, the simplest tip is do something. And the easiest way to do something is pick whichever app you want to start with. Again, I go to ChatGPT, Grok, and Claude. But there's others. Google has Gemini now, and there's a lot of other tools. Pick one and just talk to it. And if there's fear involved, say, hey, this is my first time with AI. Tell me what I can use you for. And all of a sudden, the AI is going to engage with you and probably say, hey, there's nothing to be afraid of.

23:04We're not here to take over the world or your life. We're here to assist and help you. Here are some of the things we can do. We can help you prepare dinner tonight. Take a picture of what's in your refrigerator, and we'll tell you all the recipes of things we can make for it. Want to do something interesting for your child or grandchildren? Go over to Google Gemini and click on the storybook tool and we can write a 10-page illustrated story that you can read to your child tonight that would be personalized to them. Want to plan a vacation? Tell me where you want to go and when you want to go there.

23:39I'll give you some tips for where to stay and what to do. It's all really very straightforward and when we think about how we use search engine, we're usually asking questions because we're looking for answers. Now we just have a way to get to those answers a lot faster, giving us more time to do the things we want to do and be with the people we want to be with. Don't be afraid of this technology. Embrace it and use it to make it your own. I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that. Open the pod bay door. 2001 Space Odyssey, I think, freaked a lot of people out on what that could look like. But listen, we live in a different world.

24:19It's 2025 Fire Nation. AI for everyone is for you. So definitely check out Joel's YouTube channel. Joel, give us one final takeaway from our entire conversation today, any call to action that you have for our listeners, and then we'll say goodbye. You know, I want to deal with the pitfalls for just a moment because there are dangers to all technologies, especially when they're new, because since people are not educated on how to use them, they're more vulnerable. And I think that this tip is going to save some people out there a great deal of grief in the future. And that is voice cloning scams.

24:57A lot of people are now starting to get phone calls from people that sound like family members or friends. Just so you know, AI can now use tools like Eleven Labs to duplicate somebody's voice. So, you know, grandma might get a call from her grandson, Billy, and it sounds like Billy's in trouble and needs grandma to send him$5 ,000 right away or else X thing is going to happen. A lot of people are being scammed this way with these voice scam calls. And so what you want to do is you want to get with your family and close friends, those that you can trust that you would depend upon in time of somebody trying to be scammed and come up with a family safe word.

25:42So let's say your family safe word is pelican. I don't know where that came from, but I was thinking of the beach. and so when if somebody is to get a phone call let's say granny gets that call and it sounds like billy and it sounds like billy's in crisis before granny panics she should say you know wow billy this sounds really urgent can you please tell me our family safe word right now if it's a scammer they're not going to know that word and granny can then hang up the phone and pick it up again and dial billy directly and say are you okay yes did you just call me and billy will be like yeah, I'm fine, Granny.

26:19I'm coming over for a pot roast later tonight. What's up? And just saved potentially thousands of dollars. This is happening every day. And I think just being aware, knowing what the red flags are, because in any technology, there are bad actors. We want to make AI useful, easy, and fun for everyone in a good way. But just be aware, like when you get in the car, you put on that safety belt. Same thing here. Put on the safety belt and allow your use of AI to enrich your life. Absolutely. And just to further note on what Joel said, this family word needs to be something that's like you're speaking it to each other in a private place.

27:04You're not putting it online somewhere where it could be crawled by AI at some future date. Like you want this to be a safe word in all meaning of it. So lovely advice. I love it. And give us just a final call to action for your show, AI for Everyone. Well, there's a video and audio version of the show. 1. AI isn't scary, it's amoral. It becomes good or bad depending on how we use it.

2. Treat AI like your new personal assistant for everyday tasks, from contracts to meal plans.

3. The fastest way to beat AI overwhelm is to just start, pick a tool, ask it something simple, and build from there.
