0:01Boom! Shake the room, Fire Nation! JLD here and welcome to Entrepreneurs on Fire! brought to you by High Level, the all-in-one sales and marketing platform. Angelo is a globally recognized transformation expert and founder of MetPro, the metabolic profiling system helping high performers achieve body transformations through personalized coaching, data-driven strategy, and proven results. Today, we'll talk about metabolic profiling, actionable starting steps.

0:36We'll talk about the top 1 % habits and oh so much more. And a big thank you for sponsoring today's episode goes to Angelo and ours. Monsters. Are you ready for the ultimate all-in-one platform for entrepreneurs, marketers, coaches, and agencies? Build funnels, automate follow-ups, manage clients, and even white label your own software. Say hello to our featured partner, High Level, and visit highlevelfire.com to start your free trial today. Angelo, say what's up to Fire Nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with. Oh, thanks for having me back, John.

1:20Hello to Fire Nation. Some people disagree with. All right, here we go. Motivation. Motivation is a trap. I know. Shocking, right? Here I am, the coach, the motivator. Um, and, but, but that's the deal. Motivation is a trap. The thing is, it's unreliable. If your success strategy requires motivation every day, you're already in trouble. So, I mean, you hear it all the time. I'd succeed if I could just stay motivated. Well, everyone thinks they have a motivation problem when they actually have a design problem. Um, people succeed when they engineer purposefully, I might add, engineer their environment.

2:07In my world, that looks like food availability, structure, accountability. When you engineer your environment properly, it outperforms any mood you find yourself waking up in. I mean, I love how we started this episode. It kind of reminds me of that Zig Ziglar quote of people often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing. And that's why we recommend it daily. And that's the reality of Fire Nation. That's why it's a trap because you can't just be motivated once and then you're off to the races for the rest of your life. I mean, that's why everybody signs up for the gym in January and they're still fat in February because, you know, they haven't stayed motivated.

2:48It's that trap that they get into. You need to lead your life by design. And believe me, I'm not talking from a place of perfection. I mean, Angela and I were talking pre-interview chat and like, he asked me, how doing? I'm like, listen, I'm 46 years old. I have a two-year-old kid. I'm doing good, but I want to be doing great. So, I mean, believe me, I got my notepad out right now, Fire Nation. I will be taking notes during this episode because this is such critical stuff. As we talk about mastering metabolism for peak performance in business. Now, I want to talk about this metabolism. I want to talk about entrepreneurial performance, Angelo.

3:23What are entrepreneurs getting wrong about metabolism and how is it silently sabotaging our energy, our focus, our performance in business? You used a Zig Ziglar quote, which I love because I actually, um, I actually coached his son for some time. Oh, Tom, I love that guy. Oh, he's great. He's been on the show multiple times. I mean, he is carrying on the tradition of the Ziglar name so well. And so this is like right in that cross section here to answer that. So I used to come on shows like this and I would have to almost plead my case why, you know, if you buy out the time for your personal asset of your health, your fitness, your wellness, your longevity, that it's going to, you know, give you a return on investment.

4:12Be honest, John. I don't have to do that anymore. Yeah. I think people get it. They know. And you look at all the top performers, the entrepreneurs nowadays. Nowadays, by and large, they get it. So what it really boils down to is how do we apply it? And one of the things that and now this is for entrepreneurs, but this is really for anyone. One of the big things that we get wrong is we don't understand how much control we actually have when an appropriately developed strategy is applied. So we kind of succumb to, well, I'm getting a little older. My metabolism isn't what it used to be. Things just don't work the same.

4:54And while I'm not going to sugarcoat it, there are elements of truth to that. By and large, you have way more control than you think. And the things that are actually a big deal, people are missing. And the things that aren't a big deal, people are fixating on. And a lot of it has to do, and we're talking about nutrition and fitness, a lot of it has to do with understanding and controlling your metabolism. And that's why I want to talk about MetPro. That's why I want to talk about metabolic profiling, because you created MetPro using metabolic profiling. I mean, that was the base, that was the foundation.

5:29So for Fire Nation, for our listeners, what is it? Why does it give high performers more predictable results than that traditional dieting or the traditional training methods? so if you go online okay you can google and i talk about fat loss and weight loss a lot not because it's any more relevant than any other goal people come to me with lots of goals they want to improve their energy they want to build muscle they want to improve their health and longevity but i think the stat is don't quote me on this but i think if we look back at our empirical or historical data about 88 percent of all of our clients that come to us include weight loss as a top priority because it's one of the things that really stymie people there's so much confusion around it so what we do at metabolic profiling metpro so we help people to figure out exactly where their metabolic rate is at and then how to control it, how to put them back in the driver's seat.

6:37So like I had mentioned, it's not a death sentence. Just because we're getting a little bit older doesn't mean that we lose control of things. And so let's do this just for two minutes, John. Let's chop down some pillars of sports nutrition. Oh, I love it. Let's chop them down, baby. so when i talk to other professionals in the field okay so you talk to your doctors your personal trainers um your therapists and you say okay give me an example of a few things that relate to where someone's metabolic rate is what do you want to know about someone to help determine their metabolic rate here's what they will generally say and for our listeners you're already thinking it okay first your gender yeah okay second are you a big person or a little person your body size how much muscle do you have and how active are you is that does that ring true john rings true so now we have a problem now it is not that those things are not relevant but there's a bigger thing and people don't realize this there's a bigger thing So I'm going to use an illustration.

7:47Okay. Father and daughter, they're on a journey. They crash land on a deserted island. Now I'm going to describe these two people to you because you, you have a child, right? I do. Two years old. Okay. Two. So you, so you can relate to this, uh, at least the relational part here. Yes. So father and daughter, let's say he's a big boy. Let's say he's about 300 pounds. Okay. He's a big boy. Um, his daughter is eight years old. She weighs 75 pounds. they crash land and they have access to randomly and this made up hypothetical they have access to rations okay we're talking a low calorie intake ration what's a really low calorie intake i would say 800 calories a day perfect 800 anything 800 1 ,000 1 ,200 anything in that ballpark so let's let's say for just simplicity a thousand calorie day rations now what's he going to do, John?

8:41You know this as a father. Is he going to say, well, I'm a bigger person than you, so you're going to give me half of your food, sweetheart? Is that what he's going to say to his daughter? No, no, I don't think so. Not a chance, right? So you're going to eat your thousand calorie ration. I'm going to eat my thousand calorie ration. I got a question, John. Will they die? What would you say? How many days are we talking? A year, two years. They will not die. You're correct. Yes. They will not thrive. But barring secondary medical issue, they won't die. So, you know, and anyone in the medical field will agree with that.

9:19Sadly, there are entire countries on this planet. Right. That exist on barely over, not thrive, right? Not thrive, but exist. They won't die on a thousand calories a day. So here's what that has to mean. It means that his 75-pound 8-year-old daughter and him both get rescued a year later or 18 months later or whatever in this made-up hypothetical. And they both have identical metabolic rates because they conditioned it so. Because if he is burning 1 ,001 calories, he doesn't come off the island. He's dead. At some point, he will have to stop losing weight. The same thing for his dog. At some point, she will stop.

10:07They will reach a point that in medical terms, we refer to it as homeostasis. If that never happens, they're dead. So when they are rescued, they're both eating 1 ,000 calories a day. Neither one are gaining nor losing weight. They are in homeostasis. How fast is both of their metabolic rates running? How many calories are both of their metabolisms burning a day, John? If they're eating 1 ,000 and they're maintaining a weight, what's the logic? answer i'd say a thousand a thousand it has to be they're burning they've conditioned their body to a thousand calories a day and now let's say he's lost 100 pounds so he used to weigh 300 now he's 200 let's say she's stayed the same way she's a 75 pounds if they are alive that means their body their metabolism has done its job it is acclimated to it their environment and they are both burning exactly a thousand calories a day boom now going back to our issue i thought metabolic rate was about gender size muscle mass and activity so the reason i use this really dramatic illustration of a father and daughter here is because it really drives home the point that you can take a large man and a little tiny girl you can condition them both to have the exact same metabolic rate your metabolism your metabolism can be coerced into what you condition it to and if it can be lowered it can be raised and if you can raise it and lower it it can be controlled just most people aren't thinking about the science and the numbers right that that's the big that's the big shtick that we layer on top of all the other principles and techniques that we know are best practices and we have wealth researched and et cetera, et cetera.

12:02But understanding where your metabolism is, that's the key. That's the key to progress. I got to tell you, I love that story because I think so many people can resonate with that because they're seeing this really huge man, this very small girl, and they're saying, well, of course, there's going to be some drastic differences and issues. But of course, because the father wants to protect his daughter, he's not going to eat you know, like 85 % of the food and leave her with 15 % just because, you know, she weighs so much less. And so it's just like, it's, it's such a cool example to visually see that.

12:33And to just, again, appreciate the magic that our body does literally on a daily basis in so many different ways, shapes and forms. I mean, fire nation, how many times have you breathed since, you know, you started listening to this episode, you have no idea because you're doing it automatically. And listen, I mean, you've already laid out this incredible picture, this visualization, this story. So I want to talk about actionable starting steps because we're all busy.

16:36We are busy peeps. I mean, we're entrepreneurs. We're small business owners. We have demanding schedules. We have kids. We have sports. We have fill in the blank. So give us the first three actions that we can take today to feel better, perform stronger almost immediately. They're going to mirror exactly what I do with my clients. So the first step is we're going to take back control of your non-relational meals. That's step one. Okay. So people, people have to, well, what's non-relational meals. So the people are concerned. Well, I don't know if I can start a strategy. You know, our anniversary is this weekend.

17:12Oh yeah. It's always something. I don't, I don't care about that. That's not even a fact. One meal is not a factor. Good. Cause it was my birthday dinner last night. I'm glad to hear that. There it is. See that that's not the issue. The issue is, so the average person eats four or five times a day. Okay. If you count snacks. So let's say five times at 35 meals a week. I want 30 of them dialed in. And so what we're going to do is we're going to target the non-relational meals. So that means that breakfast is easy. You wake up, you have your healthy ingredients in your house already. It's not a problem.

17:52I've coached thousands, tens of thousands, as a matter of fact, never have a problem with breakfast. So let's get that dialed in. Now for lunches and snacks. Now, if you have a business meeting with your boss, look, I'm not worried about that one meet one day. What I'm worried about is all the other days when you leave your house, you got to have your lunches, your snacks prepped, ready to go. And it's an easy step. It's an easy step. It's the lowest hanging fruit, highest return on investment. And then dinners are an interesting scenario. So in, you know, where we're at in our culture, people will take time for dinner.

18:33They'll either go out to a restaurant, sit down and have dinner with a family or friends, or they will actually prepare dinner at home. Most people, we usually don't time, take time to prepare our midday food. If you think about it, it's become more and more true. Right. So with that, now that's where strategy and science and understanding where your body is at, what your unique and evolving needs are to just land on a good ordering decision for dinner or a good cooking decision for dinner. But where I start is midday meals. I want you to regain control over. Don't leave it to chance. What your intentions are today are useless if you did not prepare or plan yesterday.

19:17So start with tomorrow by taking action today. Prep some snacks, prep some lunches. I'm going to go on a tiny, tiny, really, really quick tangent. There's a lot of research out there. Is it better to snack? Is it better to not snack? And here's the data. and I can quote you all the statistics, both pros and cons. If you are working with me, if I am your coach, you are going to snack. And it has nothing to do with any of the reasons any of those research papers point out. The reason you're going to snack is because we don't eat snacks socially. You don't go, hey, Johnny, meet me at the water cooler in 10 minutes.

19:55We're going to split an apple and 12 volumes together. Never happens. Never happens. So what that does is there is an easy area of your life you can have control over. You can determine in advance. You're going to have zero social pressure. You can eat exactly what I want you to eat or what we determine is going to be best for your goals. Okay. Number, number two, because I know we got to move along. don't underestimate this. This is hard. I've been doing this for 23 years. I've coached some of the top CEOs, top executives, celebrities, some of the highest paid athletes in the world. This gets underestimated.

20:39So I want you to actually view this like your job, like your work, like your business. When you're excited about an initiative, you talk about it, you plan for it, you make notes, you tell everyone that'll listen to it, all about it. This is a big deal. And type A personalities, and I'm going to go out on a limb, I'm going to say entrepreneurs come in all types, but I tend to meet a lot of type A's, right? But we tend to think that, hey, and I'll give you a real world example. I had an entrepreneur and an executive that I coached. He had 25 ,000 employees. Okay. He underestimated this. I've done incredible things.

21:22I have incredible discipline. I have incredible work ethic and drive. But if you underestimate how hard it is to change your food and exercise culture, it's going to conquer you. You're going to end up defeated. So my number two recommendation is don't underestimate the initiative. Make it an actual thing. Give it the respect it deserves. And you know what? Use professionals, right? If you need help crafting a strategy, what's stopping you? Let someone who specializes in this help break ground for you. And then my third recommendation is just a practical one. All the research and pragmatically and all my experience tells me this is very much true.

22:11Act early in the day and anchor. So if there's something you want to get done in the day, the earlier you do it, the more likely it is you will succeed at getting it done. You will check it off your list. Let's talk exercise. I want to exercise. If you can exercise early, great. If you can't exercise early because not everybody can. Anchor it in your schedule to things that don't move. I have a standing lunch meeting. Perfect. You exercise right after that. I pick up Johnny from school in the afternoon. Perfect. You exercise right before that. Anchor it to things that don't move. And if it's anchored, you have a statistically higher chance of getting it done.

22:51So those would be the first three steps I would take right out of the gate. Fire Nation, you can see why Angelo has been so personally successful in his journey over these years, both business and health. I mean, it takes this type of process, this kind of commitment, this type of consistency, this type of anchoring, as he just shared, to really stick with the goals that matter. Now on that note, and you've kind of talked about this a little bit already, but I want to maybe dive even deeper as we, you know, kind of coming to an end of our conversation here today. And that's the 1 % habits because you've coached executives, athletes, industry leaders.

23:29You've mentioned a few of them already. I mean, that in and of itself just shows what you're doing is working at such a high level. So from that experience, what are the top 1 % consistently do to optimize their metabolism and maintain the peak performance that they're able to do because of you. I'll give you one thing from a psychology standpoint and one thing from an action standpoint. From a psychology standpoint, they recognize that they need to surround themselves with people that are going to enhance their results. Now, that doesn't mean upend your social circle because they may not all be into fitness and health.

24:07What that means is, as I mentioned earlier, get yourself an expert to help you break ground it will pay dividends in your outcomes and return on your investment so psychologically very successful people recognize that and whatever walk of life they're trying to tackle they want to learn from and work with the best and then learn from them well and apply it for the rest of their lives as an action item OK,

24:40you can there is a lot of debate and there's a lot of noise as to what strategies, what experts speak truth and are the best of their craft. At MetPro, we take the debate off the table. So we action nothing that isn't tested and react reacting to actual real time data. And you can do this in your day-to-day life with your health, with your fitness, with your nutrition, nutrition being the biggest lever you have. So what we do is we baseline test. We put our clients, our executives, our super successful people on a baseline meal plan for a very short amount of time, usually two or three days, right?

25:23Based on the data we extract from that, because anyone can do anything for three days, right? Based on the data we get from that, we know exactly how their body is responding. And with that data, then we can go to town and create the absolute most optimized strategic approach for them to get to the specific goal. And it needs to be specific. We help them march towards that goal with the least amount of drag, the least amount of waste, and the most amount of precision. But you have to get the data. You can't just guess. Because if you follow your favorite YouTuber, they may have all the best intentions, but their outcomes do not predict your outcomes.

26:04You know, past performance is not a predictor of future performance. I love that. I mean, Fire Nation, you've got to be excited when you're hearing people like Angelo talk about the process, the systems, and then, of course, the results that happen when you approach this in the right way. Now, Angelo, I know a lot of our listeners are like, okay, I've been hearing what he's been saying. It makes so much sense, but what are my next steps? So for people that are listening right now and they want to connect with you, they want to learn more about MetPro, about your system, your process. What is your call to action for Fire Nation today?

26:41Yeah, thanks, John. A lot of gratitude for this opportunity to present your audience with kind of a unique thing. We've developed a link if you go to metpro.co forward slash fire. So that's metpro.co forward slash fire. You can actually book a free session and talk with one of our experts. And here's what we want to know. So this is kind of our niche. And we want to hear where you're stuck because you're not alone. And we can share with you what other successful entrepreneurs are doing to make sure that their health is a priority and what actually works.

27:34so I would invite anyone who's able metpro.co forward slash fire it's free, book a free session talk to one of our experts and become ready to share and tell us a little about yourself so we can share with you strategies that could really be applicable in your case Fire Nation, you're the average of the five people you spend the most time with that's a Jim Rohn quote we had both Zig and Jim Rohn in the house today so you've been hanging out with AP and JLD today So keep up the heat. 28:11And one more time, Fire Nation, that URL, metpro.co slash fire. And guess what? You're going to be able to take the next steps and you're going to be able to do that for free. Like there's absolutely nothing holding you back if you know this is something you need in your life. And I can tell you, myself included, for most of us, it's something we need in our life. Top 3 Value Bombs

1. Motivation is a trap. The real driver of success is engineering your environment so you don't rely on willpower.

2. Your metabolism is far more controllable than you think; when you understand it, you can intentionally raise, lower, and direct it.

3. High performers win by testing, tracking, and making data-driven adjustments instead of guessing what "should" work.
