We also talk about what you can expect from micro dosing and oh, so much more. And a big thank you for sponsoring today's episode goes to Adam and our sponsors. Want to learn how to get booked and paid to speak? Great news. I've arranged direct access to my good friend, Graham Baldwin's proven speaking business system from the Speaker Lab. Go to eofire.com slash speaker to grab your spot for our live training on May 28th and learn how to get booked and paid to speak. Adam, say what's up to Fire Nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
1:12I'm going to dip into the entrepreneur slash parent that you must maintain some level of work-life balance because if you're not raising good kids and you're an entrepreneur, that will come back to haunt you and it will so plague your heart. It will compromise your time and it will compromise your ability to think and act clearly if you have children that are really going wayward and your home life is falling apart. Better to be on like a five or 10 year entrepreneurial success plan and have a healthy and productive and happy family than to force it and have your whole world get blown apart. Well, listen, I love hearing that.
1:53Having a 16 month old, I can tell you that I am working super hard to have that balance, to spend that time with my son. You know, I actually have this quote that I'm using every single day, which is, every day is a blessing to just bring me into that moment that, you know, whether he's screaming, we had to have a blood draw with him today. He was screaming, but I'm like, you know what? These are, I'm going to be nostalgic about these times in the future. So let's focus on being the best parent we can be today, now. And Fire Nation, we're talking about micro dosing for optimal performance, which can maybe help with that mindset that we're talking about here today.
2:30And Adam, you know this because we've chatted before, but some Fire Nation may not know that I've actually been drinking mushroom coffee for years. It's actually a daily ritual for me. I'd love to know how you specifically got into mushrooms. So I was in the California cannabis industry and I was just doing tremendously well. I was running a statewide distribution company. Um, and, but you know, I was, I got into the weed industry and kind of a backwards way. Um, and the bar was so low that basically competent and honest was the new extraordinary. So within three years of being in the cannabis space, like I'd built up a statewide distribution company, it was making a lot of money.
3:08Everybody in my team was making great money and things were going tremendously well, but I was never really a big weed guy. I had had, I appreciated his medicine, certainly better than alcohol. Um, great for a lot of people, good for recreation and so forth. Um, but I had had a few formative psychedelic experiences as a young man. And as this term like microdosing and mushrooms, like in 2015, 2016 started to kind of come back into the vernacular. Um, I was like, let me get back into this. And so I got a microdosing product and it wasn't effective. And I'm like, but I know, but I know there's something to this.
3:42So I had, from the standpoint of life optimization and wellness, I just knew there was something to it in terms of building like premium supplementation. So that was kind of the genesis of it. I knew there was a space in the market and I had great interest in the area. Now, I don't think a lot of people understand micro dosing. Let's change that now. The best way to understand micro dosing is first in the context of the macro dose. So if anybody's ever, you know, tripped balls, had a heroic dose, a therapeutic experience, historically, that's been five grams of mushrooms. These days, mushrooms are kind of growing stronger.
4:20So I would, if anybody's, I'd probably keep people around 3.5 grams. The microdose happens at the sub 10 % level of that. So somewhere between 100 to 400 milligrams of psilocybin, that is the classic definition of microdosing. And it can vary for people. but that's kind of the range. And what you're going for with micro dosing is perceptible, non-intoxicating, non-hallucinatory, but it should, you should notice some level of increased efficacy in your life, whether it's emotional wellbeing, patients, um, libido, um, self-worth reps at the gym. It should be demonstrative to you. You know, I like to clearly kind of define micro dosing.
5:04It's an expensive supplement that you should notice. You know, like I spend a lot of money on supplements, but I've never said like, oh my God, that vitamin C, that was just so much better than the other vitamin C. But when you sprinkle a little psilocybin into your supplement, if it's a good one, you should be like, oh, okay, I know what I'm paying for. Like I'm on point. Okay. I love that because I think there's just a lot of people that don't understand exactly what micro dosing is. And then you bring in this other phrase, macro, and you kind of touched upon it, but let's really do a deeper dive on macro versus micro dosing?
5:36Maybe give a couple of examples to really clear this up for a lot of individuals who have always been curious, but have never really spoken or heard the person who actually knows what they're talking about speak of this topic. Okay. So what macro dosing does is it turns the metaphoric lights on from a spiritual, emotional, cosmological, universal worldview. you in the traditional macro experience, you're going to get some grand insight into the formation of your personality, into the formation of the cosmos, into the way the universe works, the interconnectedness of life and energy. You might re-experience your birthing process.
6:18You might have an area where there's trauma and you find spontaneous and extraordinary insight and healing. A really great example of this is the Netflix documentary, How to Change Your Mind, It was Michael Pollan's book. Episode two is about psilocybin. And there's a great story of a young dad who suffers from crippling OCD. And he does a therapeutic heroic dose. And he literally realizes where it came from and he heals it spontaneously. So that's the macro dose turns the proverbial lights on in the room. Now, the lights go back off, but the pattern of the darkness is never the same. You know where the furniture is lying so you can kind of navigate the darkness.
6:58What the microdose does, whether you had the macro experience or haven't, is it gently gives you continuous steps and energy back towards that light. The science of psilocybin at the macrodosing and microdosing level is that it essentially moves the brain and the emotions in a beneficial direction, whether you're cognizant of that or not. So the macro experience turns the proverbial lights on. The micro dose continues to walk you towards that light. It just moves the brain in a beneficial direction. And that's really the kind of, you know, the macro dose should be used for, it's not to be trifled with.
7:41You know, you can do recreational mushrooms. I actually have no problem with that. But when you're going for therapeutic and heroic dosing, like set and setting is very important. The environment is very important. Understanding the emotional space that you're in, minimizing distractions. Like it's serious. Like it's your, the mushrooms are going to reveal their wisdom and magic. And sometimes it can be a rough experience, ultimately beneficial. So you want to, you know, you want to approach that with some seriousness and respect and reverence. The micro dose is really more of like a life optimizing supplement with really no side effects, no counter indications.
8:24It just continually puts a little wind in your sails, 5, 10, 15, maybe 20 % efficacy that you'll kind of notice an overall sense of improvement in your life. but it's not a psychedelic experience in the classic sense that people might understand why. It's a supplement that you notice the benefit in your life. And Fire Nation, I hope you have a better understanding now of the macro versus the micro because what's coming up is we're going to be talking about the Brain Supreme Protocol, which I've actually been a part of. So I'll talk about a little personal experience and what we can expect from microdosing in general.
9:03and then our physical and mental health. This is all important as well. When we get back from thanking our sponsors. Adam, we're back and you created the Brain Supreme Protocol. Break that down for us. What is it? On the website, brainsupreme.co, we have a free coaching course. Like the reason why I love this product and I love what my team and I have created because it really helps people. I get emails and you read our reviews on the website.
11:36Like we're really helping people. That feels amazing. The other nice thing is because I'm selling a brand, I get to give my knowledge and wisdom and information away for free. So everything I'm going to say now is going to be is on the website as a free coaching course. you just download it, just give you an email and you get sent a link. So the Brain Supreme Protocols, I really walk people through how to microdose. So the process is, look, demystify, familiarize, and personalize. So if you're new to microdosing, the concept of mushrooms offers any trepidation or any concern, just limp into it.
12:09On an off day, Saturday or Sunday, you know, in the morning, on an empty stomach is always better. Glass of lemon water is always better. Just take one capsule. or if you're really nervous, take a half a capsule. You'll barely even notice it, but just limp in. Demystify the process. And then our first way that I like to approach microdosing with new clients is called supplement dosing. Now, supplement dosing is going to be done five days on and two days off. And we do this so the body can flush and the brain can flush and you don't because you will develop some level of tolerance to psilocybin and you'll lose the kind of honeymoon effect.
12:46So with the supplement protocol, you want to start in the morning, like I said, glass of lemon water, empty stomach, start with one capsule, and you just increase your dosing over the course of your first five days till you hit that sweet spot. And the sweet spot should really feel like your frontal lobe is kind of turned on, like your brain is turned on. Some, you know, 5, 10, 15 % level of improvement. And for most people that happens somewhere between one to three capsules. But microdosing is based on neurological needs. It's not based on body weight or anything else like that. It's just based on your neurological needs.
13:19So I'm a 245 pound former linebacker. My sweet spot with microdosing is honestly two of our capsules or 200 milligrams. My wife is 122 pounds and she needs to microdose between three to four capsules. Like everybody's brain is different. I've got some NFL guys and some MMA guys who have had more brain trauma. They might even microdose. It's not in herd to be five or 600 milligrams, although that's definitely on the heavier side. So what you want to do with that supplement protocol is like figure out your own neural anatomy and where your sweet spot is. So I tell people to start days one and two with one capsule.
13:52And then if you feel you can push a little higher, that you kind of maybe aren't noticing it, then you might push to two or even three capsules. And let's say three capsules is, oh, it's a little too stimulating. Then you back off and now you know your sweet spot. So a pretty classic supplement protocol is going to be days one, two, and three on one capsule and days four and five on two capsules. You can slightly scale up over the course of your first five days and then take two days off. I find for like, you know, charged up entrepreneurs who are always looking for a strategic mental and emotional and physical advantage that the weekday microdose is a great way to go about it.
14:31Like Monday through Friday, take the weekends off. Start at one capsule and just scale up till you find your sweet spot. So that's the supplement protocol. And after you kind of now demystified and familiarize, now you can kind of move into the personalized category. And that protocol is just the one that I do most frequently these days is called performance dosing, where that's basically a one day on, two day off or every other day kind of protocol. So let's say your big work days are your big gym days and your big work days. Let's say they're Tuesday and Friday, um, leg days, as they might say, you know?
15:07So I will take, for instance, um, we have four different formulas. We have genius, which is our most nootropic formulation. Now psilocybin is the world's greatest nootropic. Like it literally does more for the brain than caffeine, L-theanine, L-tyrosine. There's nothing else that comes close. So all of our products are deeply nootropic and beneficial for your neurological performance. And so genius is our most nootropic formulation where we blend with plastic nootropics and amino acids for neurological performance, brain performance. Then we have our emotional formula, which is called feel good, heart, mood, libido.
15:43Then we have athlete, which is our performance based formula, natural testosterone boosters, cardiovascular support. Those are all 100 milligrams per capsule. And then we have black stack, which is 300 milligrams per capsule. And that's our extra strength formula. We juice it up with very good vitamin C, uh, nano curcumin and ginger. So what I'll do with performance dosing is my two hardest training days and my biggest kind of work day push day. It's like Tuesday and Friday. So about 35 minutes before the gym, I will take two athlete and two genius, which is a stronger microdose, but I, my workouts are flow state.
16:18And then the benefits of the microdose linger throughout the day and the next two days. so performance dosing is a more specific protocol when you want to use this for your peak days my athletes and professional athletes will do one practice day and then game day i recently joined a new gym where now i train monday wednesday friday so i will i back my micro my performance dose off so i'll take two genius and one athlete on monday wednesday friday so it's a slightly more perceptible slightly higher microdose that's done with in more kind of an intermittent fashion. So that's supplement dosing. Now we got performance dosing.
16:56And the last one is peak day dosing. So you get it, you understand micro dosing, you know, you love it. Maybe you've been at it for a while, you're acclimating perhaps more than you'd like to. So now you can just use the micro dose on days that you really want to peak. I'm going for a great hike on Saturday. I want to be really present to my family and nature or wherever I'm hanging out with, or, you know, once every two weeks, we've got a big conference call, group meeting, team session. I really want to be on point. So I'll save my microdose for just those peak days. And that's, you know, that's really what it's at.
17:26There's a lot of microdose coaches in this space who want to make a very big deal out of this whole thing. But look, it's essentially a slightly expensive supplement that you should notice in your life and approach it like a supplement. And then once you figure out how to use microdosing, then you can kind of alter your schedule. I have some clients and customers who like to take one at 8 a.m. and take another one at 1 p.m. Now, psilocybin can be mildly sleep disruptive because not stimulating like caffeine, but your brain is still active and firing. So if you take it too late in the day, it can be sleep disruptive for some people.
18:00That's why most people, and I advise microdosing in the morning until you really kind of figure yourself out. Or if you got to make a big push in the evening, you can push your microdose kind of later in the day. But once you figure out how to work with psilocybin and how to use it in a constructive and beneficial fashion, like you can deeply personalize the way you approach your microdosing schedule. Well, I really appreciate you breaking that down. And Fire Nation, with Adam's guidance, I was doing some microdosing, and I have been, and I am. And one of the biggest things that I've recognized is that I love to have certain times of the day that I call deep work.
18:34And a lot of times for me, that's 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. I kind of slot that as like, I'm going to sit down on my computer, and I'm really going to try to get some meaningful work done in this three-hour block. So I don't like to schedule things during that time. Like that's going to be my deep work time. And typically I find that like I can go in these 30 minute sprints where I'm just like really doing deep work for 30 minutes, but then I need like a break. I got to get up, go get a coffee, go get this, go get that. And then maybe reset myself and go for another 30. And I can definitely say that my concentration was just extended.
19:05It was like 60 minutes, 70 minutes before like I felt like I needed to step up, which was a huge deal. I mean, that's more than double what I felt like I was used to, I was able to do prior to that. So that's just kind of one of the things that really jumped out to me was like just this extended ability to really focus and deeply concentrate. Now, for us, Adam, our physical, our mental health, I mean, is top of mind for Fire Nation, because that's how we become the best version of ourself, the best entrepreneur on fire. bring us home. What is the final thing you want to say on how micro dosing can play a role when it comes to our physical and mental health?
19:44There's so much pressure on entrepreneurs, you know, especially if you're, if you're an entrepreneur and a parent, which by the way, is like the best entrepreneurial advice I can give is if you're, if you're in the entrepreneurial space before you have children, get like as much done as you possibly can. And, um, cause it will help you then when you have to parent and allocate your time a little more towards family and needs like that. So look, for me with microdosing, like particular to your audience, like it is a incredible optimizer and advantage. Like we have like a 90 % success ratio with our satisfaction with our customers and clients, which in terms of a supplement is like extraordinary.
20:25You will get advantages on how you process information on your ability to create in Buddhism, it's called witness consciousness, where you're not the idea, you're the witness to your idea, you're not your thought, you're the witness to your thought. And as an entrepreneur, where you have to work with feedback from your customers, from your employees, like your ability to kind of objectify yourself and not personalize so much the information that you're getting. So you can really learn from it. Like these are huge strategic advantages. And even just in your own performance, like you doubled your concentrated work time.
20:58So it's such an entrepreneurial advantage. And you know, your health is ultimately your wealth. And for entrepreneurs, like you've got to stay healthy, you've got to stay sharp, you've got to stay focused. So microdosing with an effective product, it's a tremendous strategic advantage for your career and your just overall physical and emotional well-being. Adam, where does Fire Nation go to learn more, to connect with you, to connect with your business? So brainsupreme.co, it's got all the links to the podcast that I've been on. A lot of them are like three hour long podcasts, which go into my whole cannabis history, which is like a Netflix series, but really goes into the, some of the deep work and protocols on microdosing and macro dosing.
21:42Uh, all our products are available on the website. I have the free coaching course on the website. If somebody really needs some specific handholding, um, I do offer, uh, my coaching services, which is really quite affordable. It's a whole bunch of phone calls and coaching that we do, um, for people who have deep questions or they really want to know how to optimize with other supplementation and lifestyle habits. But brainsupreme.co has it all on there. And we have a nice 15 % discount code for your listeners. I think we're going to do JLD and they'll get 15 % off their order.
