And today, we'll talk about how to figure out what lights you up and to be yourself, and how you can use NLP as a lifestyle and create success in all aspects of life.

40and oh so much more. And a big thank you for sponsoring today's episode goes to Deb and our sponsors. That's why I built the Freedom Circle, a powerful community of entrepreneurs ready to support, inspire, and share the ideas that move you forward.

23Visit freedom-circle.com to learn more. Deb, say what's up to Fire Nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with. Yes, thank you so much for having me on. Yeah, well, I guess it's really the question of what does success mean to you? For me specifically, it's figuring out why are you here on this planet Earth? You know, why did you decide to come into this Earth school? And what is your mission and purpose? And then going out after that. But when it comes to that, because I really believe humanity, we're in this big shift of consciousness.

08And it's like asking yourself, what does that role for you? I also find that a lot of people are going after success that they were told to do versus really what they truly want, which then ends up leaving them unfulfilled and unhappy. be. So while somebody is going after the success, figuring out really why they're here, but then also looking into other areas of life, you'll see somebody that has like amazing financial success or on the outside appearance, seems like they have it all together. And yet their health is screaming or their mindset is not where they want it to be or their family relationships are not attended to.

51So for me personally, it's really taking an audit of what is my mission and purpose, but then also how am I optimizing my health? How am I growing mentally, emotionally, spiritually? How am I building long-lasting relationships? How am I showing up in all these areas of life? Because at the end of the day, when we transition into the next level, whatever that is, are you really fulfilled? Fire Nation, today we're talking about modern NLP. We're talking about captivating audiences, closing sales with confidence, and creating massive results in your business. And Deb has already caused the goosebumps to rise on a lot of your arms and back of your necks because I felt it as well.

34So I want to start with the basics, Deb. What the heck is NLP and why should Fire Nation even care? NLP, NLP. Well, it's the science of the mind. It's the science of human performance. And it's the science of modeling. It originally came from modeling excellence. They went around and modeled different models of people doing amazing thing. And so basically, they crack the code. How are they thinking? What are their strategies? How are they communicating? What are they doing in behavior that's creating this amazing result? And so why wouldn't you want to learn it if you're in entrepreneurship, if you're a leader, if you're a teacher, if you're a coach, if you're a parent, if you're in a relationship because it literally is the science of human performance optimization.

18And then how do you coach yourself first and foremost? How do you get in rapport with your mind and your body and release stuff that's holding you back and create the behaviors and the habits that are going to create ultimate success and fulfillment? And then how do you go out and coach and lead others? And how do you communicate effectively? How do you build ultimate rapport and communication with their clients to inspire, motivate and impact them and bring value to the world. And so that's really what it is in a nutshell for us. I mean, Fire Nation, what are we exactly if we're not communicating, if we're not getting our message out to the world, if we're not captivating people, if we're not confident, if we're not creating massive results for not just us, but for our clients as well.

04And I know that there is the standard NLP, Deb, and then there's also the modern NLP. What's the difference between these two? Well, we've evolved it. Just like humans are evolving and just like our computer systems are evolving, it's an upgraded program. And it's so funny that John Grinder, one of the creators, he's like, a lot of people that teach NLP, they don't even realize why it was created. It was created to model new models. And so what we've done with the work of our students and other people they're successfully using it is we take feedback and we are taking all the basic tools and techniques and we're innovating them with different people.

43And so every time we find a new way of using it and a new area of life, for an example, my husband and I, we live right now in Austin, Texas in an RV and we are entrepreneurs together. We live together, we sleep together, we do all things together. So I am using NLP every single day in the way that I effectively communicate to him. I use NLP with the way I relate to my dogs. I use NLP in the way that I get myself ready in the morning, how I eat intentionally, how we have sex. We use it pretty much in everything. I mean, there's this way, right before I got on this call, I used NLP to get into a powerful, confident state so that I knew that I would be here to serve.

30And so it's using it as a lifestyle. And it's also an ideology that you use to look at the world, but it's a system of practical things that you can use to create success in all areas of life, as well as being super intentional with what you do. And it's growing, it's modeling. And the vision that I have for it in the future is that we infiltrate every school system, every organization, the way that we teach our children how we parent how we are leaders inside of our organization we infiltrate every single and also in religion and spirituality we infiltrate every sense uh system in the world to infuse it with these ways of thinking being doing and having so we can all grow and evolve essentially so i love all of this deb but right now i kind of want to go back I want to go back to the moment you decided to get trained in NLP.

28Because I think a lot of our listeners here, I think they get the power of NLP. The fact that you can use language, you can captivate audiences, you can grow confident, you can get results. What made you decide that NLP was for you? Take us to that moment. Tell us that story. Well, if it wasn't for NLP coming to my life, I'd probably be dead, to be honest. So let me drop you in. So when I was 14, it was the first time I ever tried hard drugs. Fast forward to 16, I started hustling men. At 17, I started stripping. And then fast forward all the way to 29, I had been in and out of abusive relationships.

07And the way that I left a relationship was him going to prison. I had tried every single drug underneath the anything that was ever created to fill this void that I had inside and I remember hitting rock bottom for the thousandth time one of the times was very very clear to me when I got arrested for the fourth time for solicitation of prostitution I'm in Las Vegas just to paint the picture and I had to stay for 48 hours overnight there's something that's really interesting that happens when that door closes you're handed a orange jumpsuit and you have some baking soda to brush your teeth with and you look around and you see the future for yourself other women just like me that look like caged animals and I realized if I didn't change something I would stay there or I'd be dead so I made a decision but at the time like I was in this feedback loop because I didn't believe that I was worthy or smart enough to do anything else.

10I was in this feedback loop that was just reaffirming my belief systems of my self-worth. And so I made a decision I wanted to change, but at the time I didn't even know what that looked like. So one of the things that I did that gave me a superficial feeling of control was to work out a lot because in that industry of sex work and stripping and all the things. My body was the only thing that I had for survival, because if I didn't look a certain way, I wouldn't make money. And so I worked out a lot. So you know the saying, whenever the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Well, that teacher happened to be an NLP trainer.

54However, she wasn't using in the traditional sense. She was using it in the fitness industry. And this woman was different than anybody I'd ever met before. And it wasn't about her external appearance. It was about the feeling. I immediately connected with her and I watched her. I saw her go from substitute teaching at a Pilates studio to then doing meetups in the park and then owning her own studio and very, very quickly growing and scaling it. And I was like, I want that. I don't know what she's doing, but I want to be a part of it. And so one day she created a teacher certification and I took her certification, not really thinking anything about it.

39I just was looking for something to do that I wasn't doing normally. And the secret was that she was infusing NLP and how she taught her teachers how to go into, we call it peripheral, to be able to serve your clients using hypnotic language patterns when people are working out, how to build deep rapport, and how to let go of any anxiety that you have from getting up in front of somebody. It was beautiful. And so we got really close and I started sharing what was going on in my life and pretty much dumped my bucket out on her. And she told me to not even think about it, to make the money or to find the money and invest in taking this NLP training.

25So she introduced me to the trainers that I then ended up taking all their courses with. And I invested the most amount of money that I ever invested in myself in something that I didn't even know what it was. Because I didn't even, when I did the training, I had no idea what NLP was. I just knew that there was some hope for me in my life. And I'm so glad I did because at the level one training, three days in this training, just to give you a picture of the stuff that I was using, I was using Xanax and everybody on this call is free of this. I was using Xanax, Adderall, Oxycontins, Lortabs, and I was drinking fifth a day.

07And I also relapsed on methamphetamine smoking it. And I was doing that every single day in the training because that was how I survived. I couldn't breathe without some sort of substance in me. And I almost didn't make it through that training. I actually tried to bail because I thought that I wasn't good enough and smart enough to do it. And my trainers stayed with me. They called me out. In fact, I didn't show up day four and they called me and they reframed me using NLP to get me back in class. No kidding. And because of that moment and because I surrendered and because I wanted it so bad, I quit everything cold turkey after some of the processes that we teach now that help people break through trauma, lifelong trauma.

54I let go of years and years of sexual abuse. I let go of parts of me that didn't feel worthy I let go of fear and I let go of so many belief systems that were holding me back and I started to see the possibilities and because I stayed in that training my timeline changed a year later I met my husband that now we do this work together in our master's class level two. And it's kind of been a crazy ride ever since because I saw the value and I saw the transformation, the miracle. It was nothing short of a miracle that happened for me because I was so freaking ready and I was so ready to throw out the old and become the new.

40And now I facilitate that for people every single day. And it doesn't necessarily need to be the situation that I'm in, I mean, that's a byproduct. You'd be surprised how many entrepreneurs actually are taking medication because they're numbing unconsciously, or it's like porn addiction, or it's food addiction, or it's Netflix addiction. There's some sort of crutch that people are doing because they're not in control of their mind. They're disconnected from their body, and they're not connected to their source and or their why. And so whether it's, you know, my background or my husband's background, he was coming specifically to make more money in his business.

21He had his real estate background. He ran a very successful company in California. And he hit a glass ceiling, which a lot of entrepreneurs do. You can hustle your way to a certain amount of money, but then there's a ceiling that you get in the, like, there's a ceiling that you cannot break through unless you change internally and change the story. For him, it was, you would never, you know, he could never find really good people, but it was just a reflection of his leadership. Deb, I want to stop you here for a second, because I think it's so important for Fire Nation, who's listening right now, just to know that you can see yourself in at least a part of Deb's story.

02You can see a friend of yours in at least a part of Deb's story. you can see a loved one, a family member. And I just love how, you know, Deb didn't even show up on day four for the training that's now changed her life. Like how many times have we given up on something and we haven't had that person that's called us back in. So I really hope this is hitting you where it needs to hit you right now, Fire Nation. Deb, we're back, and I want to talk right now specifically about how being certified in NLP increases an entrepreneur's confidence, because confidence is a huge, huge factor in the success and the failure of a lot of entrepreneurs.

16And if you have more confidence, you can close more sales at a faster rate even. So expound upon this. How does NLP help in these areas? Yes. Thank you for asking. So one of the things that I actually hear a lot from entrepreneurs is that I don't really care about the certification. And I get it. Maybe you're not going to specifically do coaching. However, if you are a business owner and you are an entrepreneur, you are a coach. And so the cool thing about the certification is that you're going to be trained at a level of competence and expertise to where you will know it. And you not only will know it, you will embody it.

54And when you embody it, you will have the ability to use your language, to coach people, to guide them, to inspire them, to motivate them. You'll also see the patterns in people and first and foremost yourself. because confidence is a state and it's also a belief system. And so if somebody is struggling with confidence, there is stuff in the past that you have not yet realized about yourself that once you learn it, you will become totally confident and you will be able to cultivate that confidence

31and then become competent in whatever that you're doing. And so when you get certified, certified, you're going to have the cutting edge over anybody else in your industry. And by the way, some of the most successful people in the world have learned NLP. I mean, look at Tony Robbins, look at Oprah Winfrey, people in politics, they're getting coached with NLP. And so it's like the secret sauce that nobody really talks about, but everybody uses. And so when you get certified and when you walk the walk and you talk the talk and you're being and doing and having and using it in every single way, you will create success very quickly.

13And you'll be able to coach yourself through any obstacles because as you know, and everybody on this podcast, you know that entrepreneurship is a spiritual journey. And what do I mean by that is because you have stuff that gets thrown, aka obstacles in your life, and you'll be able to maneuver through it and you'll be able to coach yourself and get back on track to success very, very quickly. Deb, attention's key. like getting attention, maintaining attention. How can we use NLP to captivate an audience? Give us some specifics here. It's all about storytelling. So figuring out, and by the way, NLP, part of it is talking is the science of telling stories.

54And so figuring out what your stories are and how you can use them in a specific way to captivate your avatar. And it just depends on if it's in a sales conversation, the best salespeople are amazing at metaphors. They're amazing at telling stories. It's how you handle objections. If you notice some of the best speakers on stage, they open up story after story after story, and they're able to inspire. They're able to have you laugh, have you cry, and they also teach you things within these stories. I believe that storytelling is actually in our DNA because think about it, history was passed down through stories.

37And so when somebody is listening to a story, what we say in NLP is their unconscious mind is wide open. Our unconscious mind is a part of us that dictates our behavior. And so when you can tell stories, you can install strategies for success. You can have people running to the back of the room to sign up for your programs or whatever it is, you're able to pitch your why to people to get funding. It captivates people in the way that they like to learn. It also ties right into their motivation. And so NLP is, you know, and also you'll understand the patterns of how people grow and evolve. And so you'll be able to strategically tell stories to activate that in them.

21Let's talk about the neurological link between those who, you know, just kind of do okay in business versus the ones that actually have massive results. What have you found here? I found that the most successful people have a really amazing recovery strategy. If you think about it, most people have this misconception that people just got successful and they just had this straight path. However, from my perspective, I mean, the most successful people, we've just failed a lot more and we've learned from that and we have a really good recovery strategy. And so the neurological link is that people that are successful, they are able to immediately fail.

02We call it fail forward fast, right? You've heard that before. Fail forward fast, get the learning, look at the situation, pivot, and then implement the feedback to then create more success. Instead of going into this feedback loop or spiral or getting out of state and getting to a lower vibration or beating themselves up and then wasting time and energy when there's opportunities that are missing you, you know, you're missing because you're focusing on all the things that you're not doing right. And so the neurological link is a strategy and have you recover and how quickly you recover and how much you can learn from that situation.

39And also trusting your gut and trusting your intuition. I think that a lot of times people will end up making mistakes because they don't trust their gut And the more that you're connected to your body and the more that you rapport with your body And more that you understand how you learn and how you work The easier it is to listen to that inner voice because you always know You always know fire nation You know Deb you've shared a lot of amazing things. I mean you've talked to us about your story, which thank you for sharing that you've talked to us about how it increases an entrepreneur's confidence and that's NLP and how you can captivate an audience through stories and metaphors and all that jazz and the neurological link.

22What's the one key takeaway you really wanna make sure Fire Nation gets? Then share the best way that we can connect with you, any gift or call to action you have for us and then we'll say goodbye. Absolutely. My advice is figure out what lights you up and be yourself. and with the offer that we have to offer. I would love for people to know that we have something called the NLP Made Simple.
