In short
Skyrocket Tech, Inc. and Barry Boatner’s pitch for a new “foundation layer” for the internet in the Web3/AI era: decentralized access, an intent-based discovery engine, and a monetization layer where attention/intent become tradable assets owned by users and creators.
Key claims
the current web is distorted by pay-to-play rankings, click/keyword capture, and platform extraction; surveillance ad models should be replaced by an “intent economy” and “monetization layer 2.0” using NFTs/smart contracts.
Notable examples
contextual advertising/SEO incentives (e.g., keyword stuffing like repeating “yoga” in white text); “zero-click advertising” where winning a keyword bid directs 100% of query results to the keyword owner’s site.
Guest
Barry Boatner, serial entrepreneur with 25 years building/marketing brands and award-winning products; co-founder Jason Bossarge is cited as inventor of contextual advertising. Team backgrounds: UI/UX lead Greg Melander, credited with major Microsoft UI/UX work (Windows, Bing, HoloLens, Xbox) and 70 patents; other team members described as big-tech pioneers behind widely used internet technologies.

Barry, say what's up to Fire Nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with. I think most companies fail chasing opportunities instead of vision. The winners shape the market, not follow it. You know, success isn't doing more. It's doing less, faster, and with focus. Speed beats perfection. and act, learn, adjust, solve one meaningful problem deeply, and then scale will follow. Focus and vision will always outlast hustle.
1:58John Lee Dumas:Focus, follow one course until success, Fire Nation. And we're talking about pioneering how the web will be searched and monetized in the Web3 AI era. And I want to talk about not one, not two, but three proprietary technologies that you've built. I mean, let's go through these because you say they're going to fundamentally change how the web is accessed, searched, and monetized? What are they and how do they work together as a new foundation layer for the internet? Well, we didn't just build features. We built a new foundation for the internet. First of all, a decentralized access layer that puts identity and data back in the user's control instead of big tech's servers.
2:39Second is an intelligent discovery engine that delivers intent-based results, not pay-to-play rankings or algorithmic manipulation. And third, a monetization layer that flips the model entirely, where attention becomes an asset. Creators are paid directly. Users participate in the value that they generate. And together, these three technologies don't tweak the web. They rebalance its power and the economics.
3:01John Lee Dumas:I mean, Fire Nation, you can see the power of creating something of this kind of value, of this kind of just creating amazing opportunities for people that are going to be actually creating the content in this world. And that kind of leads us to the evolution of monetization, Barry. So take us back through the history. I want to talk about keywords, SEO, contextual advertising. What did the first monetization layer get right? And where did it create distortion and incentives that led to today's broken system? Yeah, well, the first monetization layer, which was developed by my team, specifically my Skyrocket co-founder, Jason Bossage, and then adopted and led by platforms like Google, they got one thing very right.
3:44It made the web economically viable by connecting intent, keywords, and advertising. But it also shifted incentives. You know, success became about ranking and clicks and attention capture, not necessarily value or truth, right? So that drove SEO manipulation, pay-to-play visibility, and a system where platforms extract most of the value while users and creators generate it. was started as efficiency eventually created distortion and then morphed into the surveillance economy where data capture became rampant.
4:13John Lee Dumas:So this is kind of interesting because I mean, I'm old enough to remember some pretty crazy SEO stuff. I mean, I can remember when this, this days back, I think to the nineties, but like, let's just say you wanted to rank for the keyword like yoga, you would just honestly like write an article about yoga, but then you would have like a white background. And then you would write the word yoga in the background in white, like a thousand times. So nobody could see it. And like the internet would crawl that. So what's like a memory you have like that, where there was just this distortion in incentives that, you know, was just really interesting with, with SEO, with contextual advertising, et cetera.
4:53Well, I have to give all credit to my co-founder, Jason Bosarge. He's actually the original inventor of contextual advertising, which is the first foundational monetization layer of the internet. That proprietary technology got locked in a long seven-year battle with Google. But he discovered that the power of managing keywords and how it can be parsed and directed into very meaningful layers really could change a lot of different things. If you remember the early days of the internet where people were struggling how to monetize the keyword. Contextual advertising became the foundation for the whole SEO industry, right?
5:35And so it's all about the keywords and how the algorithms pick up those keywords and direct that query traffic.
5:42John Lee Dumas:Let's talk about data vaults and advertising, but first data vaults. So you talk about data vaults and the idea that protecting your own data, it's not just about privacy, it's about value. So what does that mean? You know, data vaults treat your personal data as an owned asset, not something platforms extract, right? Instead of companies harvesting your behavior, your data became, stays secure. You know, it's permission based. You control how it's used, which means you also share in its value. It creates not just the risk advertising. What it does, it builds on that by replacing surveillance ads with AI driven alignment where brands make real offers based on user intent and consent, not tracking or interruption, right?
6:25It shifts advertising from exploiting attention to creating mutually beneficial exchanges.
6:31John Lee Dumas:Let's talk about the team behind the vision. So who is the team behind Skyrocket? What experience, battle scars and breakthroughs uniquely position you to reshape how the web works? The team behind Skyrocket is all-star cast of big tech pioneers that have been working and creating just trillion dollar brands behind the scenes. Nobody's ever heard of none of my team are famous, but all their other technology is famous because the global Internet uses it every day. Everything from, like I mentioned, contextual advertising. Google generates 350 billion dollars a year off that initial IP. My team, you know, my UI UX lead, Greg Milander, He is the brains behind a lot of the Microsoft products that are out in the market today.
7:20Listed on 70 patents in Windows. He's Bing. A lot of the other primary offerings from Microsoft. He was an early innovator of AI, a lot of different technology. The team behind Skyrocket really are Internet pioneers that have shaped a lot of the products that are in global use today. Everything from contextual advertising, my partner and co-founder, Jason Bossarge, created Greg Melander, was a top UI UX designer with Microsoft. Some of the most iconic products Microsoft has delivered from Windows to, you know, Bing to, you know, the HoloLens. And most importantly, which is a huge brand, is Xbox.
8:05Greg was a UI UX vision behind all that. So when you have that kind of brain power, the rest of my team are some people that are working on Skyrocket. Honestly, kind of moonlighting, been contributing their their talent behind the scenes. And some of them are still employed by some of these very large companies that we can't disclose at the moment. But, you know, we have a very powerful brain trust that are powering and have a tremendous amount of experience. And, you know, shaping how the Web is used, benefited, monetized, searched and enjoyed.

11:43John Lee Dumas:Visit highlevelfire.com and start building your something today. Barry, let's talk about the intent economy. I mean, you've said the intent economy will replace the surveillance economy. Break that down for us. Well, the surveillance economy monetizes you by spying on you and tracking every click, stealing your data, predicting your intent, and selling access to it, right? The intent economy flips the script. Individuals own and declare their intent directly. Platforms stop guessing. Users control their data. Businesses compete to meet real demand. The web transformed from a manipulative attention trap into a marketplace where users capture value and companies earn it honestly.
12:24No exploitation, no guessing.
12:26John Lee Dumas:Let's talk about the monetization layer 2.0 because I mean, in the Web3 AI era, which of course we are in the middle of right now, you believe we're entering monetization layer 2.0. So how does owning keywords create an entirely new asset class? And why do you believe this unlocks trillion dollar potential? Well, monetization layer 2.0 flips the web's economics. Owning keywords turns attention and intent into assets that you can control, not something that big tech sells for themselves. By converting keywords into NFTs with smart contracts, suddenly every search, every click, discovery becomes value that you capture.
13:06Not big tech. Royalties get distributed to the content creators, shifting value to the people. That's why this creates a trillion-dollar opportunity. The web stops enriching platforms and starts enriching the people who actually drive it.
13:18John Lee Dumas:You mentioned NFTs. Can you give another example of this in action or how you think this should be in action? Yeah, well, so right now we're creating a commerce engine, which will convert. So it'll be open dynamic bidding scenario where you bid on keywords, millions of keywords, geolocating keywords. There's a whole program behind it, but you bid on the keywords relevant to the business that you own, right? And once you are the high bidder on that keyword to get converted into an NFT and with the The Skyrocket platform, the search platform, the browser plus, as we call it, whoever owns that keyword gets 100 percent of the query results directed right to their website.
14:00We bring the customer directly to your door. Right. So right now, if you have the highest sponsored ad on Google, you might get 34 percent of the click through because most people are they see those sponsored ads. they just glean right over it. But with Skyrocket and what we call zero-click advertising, those keywords convert 100 % of that query traffic directly to the keyword owner's website.
14:22John Lee Dumas:That is a game changer, Fire Nation. Let's talk about the seven-year battle and what's next. I mean, you fought this seven-year battle with Google while helping create the first monetization layer. What did that experience teach you? And how does it uniquely prepare Skyrocket to reshape the web once again? Well, in full disclosure, it was my co-founder, Jason Bossarge, who was the original inventor and patent holder for contextual advertising. He filed for the patents and the rest of my team, we were all kind of contributors kind of after the fact. But on the front row, watching that battle unfold was pretty astounding, actually.
15:02When you see, we call it the David versus Goliath struggle, right? And fighting Google for seven years for the patent rights to that contextual advertising taught us how entrenched incentives shape the web, how hard it is to build something that actually puts users first. It showed us where the monetization layer got it right and where it broke. That experience uniquely prepared Skyrocket to do it differently this time. We know the system inside and out. We're building a web where users control their data and their intent and the value they create. Transformative ideas are born in the brilliant minds of people like my co-founder Jason Bosarge.
15:38God rest his soul. He did pass away last year, unfortunately. But the team is carrying on in his honor because it was his visionary idea that really was the genesis for Skyrocket and all the technology that we've created. What we're creating now with Skyrocket, that shapes the web. Microsoft actually funded that patent fight with Google, but Google deployed that technology primarily through Gmail. And what people don't realize, is Gmail is fundamentally a surveillance engine, extracting keywords and selling that data to the marketers. We believe fundamentally that each individual should benefit from the value of their data, not big tech.
16:14John Lee Dumas:Well, I think that leads us to my question about how if the internet shifts from a surveillance economy to an intent economy, which it's in that shift right now, what's the single biggest opportunity listeners need to understand right now before this next wave fully hits? Well, before the next wave hits, the biggest opportunity is simple. You own your intent, control your data. It's all about, you know, intent because the moment you capture intent is the moment you really capture true value, right? Very specifically for each individual and for the marketers. And when the web shifts from surveillance to the intent economy, each search, click, and decision becomes a tradable asset that you can control.
16:56Those who act early, whether it's creators, entrepreneurs, or users will capture the value that is used to flow exclusively to big tech. The next wave won't wait and neither should you. So move early. You capture the value that everyone else is still giving away. Skyrocket is on a mission to take that web where it was initially intended back into the control of the individual and not big tech.
17:19John Lee Dumas:Barry, we've talked about a lot today. Three proprietary technologies, the evolution of monetization, data vaults, authorizing the intent economy, monetization layer 2.0, the seven-year battle. If there's one thing that you would want our listeners to walk away with from our conversation today, what is that one thing? Well, it depends on whether the entrepreneur is trying to build a business or they're just trying to search the internet. Surround yourself with very smart people that we were able to do. We assembled a team that is creating a platform and the technology. The ultimate interface between humans and technology is what Skyrocket ultimately is.
17:56We say Skyrocket is the, you know, we're a very serious technology company with a browser fetish. And when people see the browser technology that we've created, the AI integration, how we capture the five major intellectual intent that people share when they put a device in their hands or sitting in front of them, there's only five things that they're really looking to do. And we solve all five of them. So it's really the, you know, we call it the singularity of interfaces, right? And so, you know, people can go to getskyrocket.com and download the beta and get an early look at what the future of search looks like.
