Natalie, say what's up to Fire Nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with. Sure. Hey, Fire Nation. I'm really excited to be here with you. What I've noticed with becoming successful, you know, just because you have some financial gains or time freedom, it doesn't mean the job is done. And this is something that I get confronted with often, normally from friends and family who don't really understand that, you know, it's not that I work too hard.
54It's not that I don't make enough time to enjoy myself or play or treat myself. It's just that I don't have an end point for my success. And really, I'm trying to change industry. I'm trying to change the way people conduct themselves when dealing with their health and their wellness. So I mean, for me, this is a long haul game. So I'm successful, the more I can impact people in a positive way. So I mean, the job is just never done for me. See, I love this, because I've done over 45 episodes to date. But the first 2000 episodes, I asked the exact same question, what is your worst entrepreneurial moment?
29And so many answers from my guests was the day that I reached the quote unquote finish line, the day that I sold my business, the day that I retired. The end fire nation is not the finish line. Like that is a sad time for a lot of people because then they're just like, okay, what's next? It's the journey. It's the progress. It's the gradual realization. of a worthy ideal. I love that phrase because it is so true. So don't just have this finish line, this grand ending in mind, because believe me, so many people have been so disappointed when they get to that quote unquote finish line. Now, Natalie, as Simon Sinek would say, let's start with why.
15What is your why? Yeah, sure. So my why is a really big one. It's a personal one and I had family members that were impacted by really negative health outcomes and the industry just didn't have anything for them it was a pretty hopeless situation there was there was no guidance there was no hey we have a solution for this problem if you just follow these steps medicine has the answers and medicine didn't have the answer so I was forced as a young child to start looking for answers and kind of became the black sheep of my family along with my aunt whose health was impacted. And we just kind of walked this journey of trying to navigate our own path to being our own health advocates and making changes for ourselves since medicine didn't have any answers for us.
07Now, Fire Nation, as I shared during the introduction, we also have Gregory Scott on the mic as well. So Gregory, say hello, brother. And why don't you take a little stab at this as well? Hello, Fire Nation. I guess my why is similar to Natalie's. I've been passionate about helping people achieve their goals my whole adult life. And it's very rewarding when you can see somebody reach those goals, not just physically, but in all aspects of life. And to help coach people and to help people reach those goals is really gratifying and rewarding to me. That is the primary goal here. And that's, as Natalie explained in the first question you asked her, there's never really an end goal as long as you're passionate about what you're doing.
57I was always told it's awesome to be doing what you love doing until you're doing what you're meant to be doing. And if you kind of follow that guideline and that quote, it really holds a lot of truth to it. And I've realized that over the last several years, and I never really understood it before that. But to help people get there and be doing what you're supposed to be doing, that's a huge difference than what you would love to be doing. Fire Nation, truer words may have never been spoken. And that's why we're talking about the end of an era today, the downfall of sugar. And Natalie, we're seeing this declining health across the board.
41I mean, it's really sad to see. And this is a lot to do with overconsumption and poor lifestyles. Tell us more about this. Yeah, sure. So, I mean, you're seeing this across the board, not just in adults, but we're really seeing this impact our children. And I mean, just the overconsumption, there is hidden sugar in everything. I mean, 70, almost 80 % of everything that we consume that's in a package has additional sugar added into it. And they use very sly tactics to get it in there. And you never even notice that because it comes cloaked in different words that you don't recognize, but it's all sugar.
17And, you know, we're seeing a spike in an increase in type two diabetes and non fatty liver disease in children, which is something you never saw just 30 to 40 years ago. Fire Nation, this is really scary stuff. I mean, I'm speaking from the fact that I now have an eight-month-old son and like everything that we're looking at when it comes to buying like this child food that's not coming directly from his mother, it's scary. It's just like there's syrups and there's starches and there's oils and there's sugars and there's all this stuff. And we're just like, man, this poor baby, like how's his body gonna handle this stuff?
55I mean, he's trying to develop right now. Gregory, what are you seeing on this? What do you want to add to this topic? Well, a lot of people, they see and they read the labels and they see no sugar or sugar-free. And that's not always the case. You really got to dig a little bit deeper. You know, they'll say no sugar or sugar-free, but there's sugar alcohols there. So that is just as bad, if not worse, than no sugar or not having sugar. So, you know, to really clean the diet up, and it's so simple to do, But the thing is, you just really have to educate people and let them know what to look for when they're looking and reading these labels and just make those adjustments in their diet habits.
36Natalie, I want to talk about clinical studies because this is the fact. This is reality. They are compromised by special interest groups, by health authorities. How is this happening? Why is this happening? Tell us more. Yeah. So, I mean, if you just go back and you look at the Sugar Association and similar groups, they funded these studies. You know, you have published studies in the New England Medical Journal that have been funded by the Sugar Association. I mean, back in 2016, there was a published study. And really, you know, what we found is even dating back to the 1960s, the sugar industry minimized sugar's role in things like heart disease.
20They switched the focus to dietary fat. And it was never the fat that we needed to be mindful of. But everybody went on these low-fat diet crazes and they're counting calories and they're absolutely miserable. But at the end of the day, it was sugar. I mean, when you're paying researchers$50 ,000 per, you know, per study that they do, and then you have the Sugar Association and Research Foundation funding these medical schools and these medical journals, it's just, it's so rife with corruption. You know, we really have to look further than just the title of a study. You really have to look at, is there a conflict of interest?
00Because nine times out of 10, there is a conflict of interest there. Gregory, you and I were just hanging out a few weeks ago in person, and I made the comment to you, and I really meant it when I said it. I'm like, you know what? 50 years from now, and by the way, I hope it's sooner than that, but at the latest scenario, 50 years from now, people are going to be talking, and they're going to be saying, man, can you believe what people used to get away with, with sugar? It's how we talk about cigarettes now is how people are going to talk about added sugars and all that crap and oils and like just syrups.
36That's how people are talking about it in 50 years because it's going to be so obvious. I mean, it should be obvious now, but it's just going to be like that. How we think and look at cigarettes now, just those criminals that just lied to people and caused so much pain, suffering, and death. What do you want to add to this thing around clinical studies, special interest groups, health authorities? Well, I think you hit the nail right on the head there, John. It's going to really be something that people are talking about. If you see, or if you're paying any attention at all to the media, sugar's really getting a bad rap right now in the diabetes industry, the cancer, all the health-related issues that sugar is causing.
16There seems to be a lot of attention given to that currently, and it's really going to just continue on. And again, it's going to really wake people up and make them aware of what they're putting in their bodies, kind of like how tobacco and smoking is bad for your health. And people are much more educated about that now than they were 50 years ago. Fire Nation, we have so much more to talk about on this topic when we get back from thanking our sponsors. The overwhelm that comes with choosing the right software and tools for growing your business is real. With so many options and so little time, how are you supposed to know which platform is best?
56You've got your email marketing platform, payment systems, content tools, the list goes on. It can sometimes feel like you're spending more time organizing all the moving pieces and places than actually connecting with prospects and customers. And this is where HubSpot steps in. HubSpot is the all-on-one customer platform for growing better. Imagine this. Marketers generate better leads. Sales builds tighter relationships with customers and closes more deals. And service supports your customers at scale with tools like HubSpot's AI chatbot and knowledge base. Plus, with built-in AI to answer common customer questions, brainstorm and write marketing content, easily pull reports and more, your teams can slash their busy work.
38meaning your marketers, sales reps, and service teams actually have the time to be, well, marketers, sales reps, and service teams. And when they grow, the sky's the limit for your business too. Grow better, faster with HubSpot's all-in-one intuitive customer platform. Visit HubSpot.com to learn more. Natalie, we're back, and I want to focus right now on at-risk communities. What have you discovered on this topic? This really gets down to the ugly side of what Big Sugar and Big Pharma, because they do work in tandem, have in store for people. Coca-Cola funds the American Diabetes Association. If anybody can't see that that is a no-no right there, that's a major problem.
30And groups such as the NAACP has been radicalized by the sugar industry to actually fight against Congress when Congress was trying to, you know, pass a tax, a sugar tax to prevent WIC and SNAP and all these other benefits that are supposed to be helping families get through tough times. they're actually subsidizing the sugar industry to make sure that these Coca-Cola products and these sugary beverages and these ultra processed foods are allowed on these programs. So, you know, you're really seeing devastating effects in these lower income minority focused groups in particular are suffering big time at this.
17And, you know, when you look at it, the government is funding this, Big Sugar is funding this. And it's like, why aren't we just allocating those dollars towards making it possible to families to be able to purchase whole foods for their children, for themselves, for the elderly, instead of perpetuating something that's causing our medical system really to collapse. I mean, there's not going to be Medicare available for anyone because we can't continue this financial burden of this sick care system that is, you know, masquerading as healthcare. I mean, Fire Nation, this is a five o 'clock alarm.
54This is stuff that has to be talked about, has to be dealt with now. Gregory, what do you want to add to this? It's really bad. And they don't want sugar to disappear. All these big conglomerates that Matt Leigh had just mentioned, they feed the fire. And while the fire is fed, people will continue need to be on medications. Big pharma will stay in business. When you start cleaning up people's health and wellness, they discontinue going to the doctor. There's no reason for drugs, and that's going to definitely impact those industries tremendously. And they don't want that. Almost like the cures for cancer.
32They're there, but you'll never see them in the public eye. Now, I'm not going to lie. I love being active. I'm going on a three-mile walk with my dog every morning, every evening. That's a total of six miles. That's 10 ,000 steps. I'm weight training a minimum of three up to four times every single week. I eat quite healthy throughout the day on most things. I definitely am not perfect. I don't try to be perfect, and I'm not perfect. I do like an occasional Haagen-Dazs ice cream to treat myself. It happens. You know, life is meant to be enjoyed on some levels, but everything does have a tradeoff.
08So what are some healthy alternatives for people like me that, you know, kind of still like Natalie to have a little bit of a sweet tooth from now and then, but don't want to go overboard? Yeah, sure. So, again, everything in balance, everything in moderation. It's not that you can't treat yourself. It's just that you really have to be aware of all of the hidden issues. So the hidden sugars that sneak up on you. But what we have done, John, is we have created a all natural functional sweetener that really hones in on the missing elements of these sugar alternatives that are out there. Because a major problem with these sugar alternatives, even if they are natural, they're normally missing the fiber component.
54And fiber is so very important when dealing with a sweetener. So what we've done is we've created Nature Sweets, and that product is a prebiotic. It's a probiotic. It lends gut support. It helps to regulate A1C in blood glucose. It also helps to detoxify the system, but also increase protein and nutrient profile by about 30 % with the fulvic minerals. So there are options out there. You know, we have sugar-free, sugar-alcohol-free products that do not disrupt, you know, the gut microbiome because that's such a big, you know, problem with these alternatives is they really dysregulate the gut. And, you know, health begins with the gut.
38And so, you know, we're really thoughtful and mindful when constructing this. The flavors had to be right. The health properties had to be right. And it had to be accessible. So, you know, I think we really nailed it with this one. We've got multiple flavor profiles so that there's something for everyone. And, you know, we just we need to call on, you know, manufacturers to implement things like this into their products so that we have healthy, safe options for our friends, for our families, for our kids, so that we can enjoy those treats without, you know, negative health consequences. Well, you have nailed it.
14And I've tried many of the different flavor profiles that you're mentioning. And one thing that I just want to say is hydration is so key, but I will say that from time to time I find myself not drinking enough water because, well, it's just, it's water. It's plain. And it's not like, it's not calling my name. I'm not craving it. Like, yes, I'm trying to drink it because it's so important. But sometimes I'll be like, oh man, a few hours have gone by. I haven't taken a sip of water. And I want to be drinking more. and what I loved is that when I was tapping in some of that nature sweets into my water, I was reaching for that glass a lot more because it did have that amazing flavor profile and I knew it had those added benefits as well, which just made me even more wanting to consume.
55So Gregory, what do you want to add to that? Well, John, as you probably got to experience the Pixie Stick flavor, which is incredible. It's, you know, when we were all kids, that was the kid go-to when you could just go get the Pixie Sticks and just dump them in your mouth. So the Pixie Stick flavor is great from what you just mentioned as far as hydration, water, putting it in water to flavor it. Teas, it's fantastic. We have a lot of people that are now putting it in their yogurts. I tried it in Cottage Cheese the other day. It was wonderful. There's just a lot of different variations that you can use it for.
34And as much as you take, you don't have to worry about how much you're taking in because actually the more you take into this, the more health benefits you get with the prebiotic fibers. So it's healthy for you. So that is something that you can enjoy throughout the day and evening and not have to worry about bad benefits or anything. You know, it's good. And the more you take, the better off you're going to be. Natalie, let's really break it down for our listeners. How can we best re-educate, empower, and elevate alternative health voices? Yeah, you know, I really think we need to just work on changing the narrative.
11You know, there are always so many people that just, you know, put up the blockers. They're like, well, it's going to be too expensive, or it's going to be too hard, or, you know, I don't know if I'm going to like it. And, you know, people are so willing to cut it off before they even give it a chance. So, you know, you really got to look for and we have so much media available to us. There are prominent voices out there. You know, you got to meet and spend time with Dr. Sean Baker. You know, there are people out there with loud voices who are fighting the good fight. Callie Means, Nick Norwitz, you know, all these people are available to you on Instagram and social media.
48And if you look at some alternative news sources, you're going to have access to so much more than you normally would get by watching your Fox or your CNN, where it's really filtered and, you know, kind of hidden behind all these little closed curtains and back door deals. So, you know, there are a lot of alternative voices out there. There are a lot of people working for the benefit of humanity. We just want to be some of those people that are in that fight. And yeah, I mean, you can always reach out to us for additional information. We'll gladly point people to references. So yeah, there's a ton of help out there, a ton of support.
24And we just really need to change the narrative because it's not too hard to break away. It's just that we've got to break a habit and habits are changeable. I love that. Gregory, bring us home.
