Thank you so much for having me back. The thing that I think a lot of people think is that you have to work really, really hard to be successful. And I am of the agreement more in the four hour work week category that the idea is to work very smart. And I've got myself down to three days a week now, and I'm thrilled.

03Well, on that note, we're talking about the fire mindset and I want to talk about mindsets. How much of a difference does mindset make in an entrepreneur's success or lack thereof? Well, I have, if you would have asked me this 10 years ago, I think I would have said 10 or 20 percent and now I am much much higher 80 90 percent we I I tout the idea that there's only two things required to be successful in my industry that's the speaking industry but really it crosses over into everything there's only two things required to be successful Number one is an all in mindset. You are you are committed 100 percent to making this thing work.

57And number two is consistent action. And you can take all the consistent action in the world. But if your mindset is off, if your thoughts are not serving you, if they're unintentional, you may still not see results. Fire Nation, we're going to be talking a little more in depth about mindset today and specifically the fire mindset. And I guess this came from Brooke Castillo and she has a model all about this. So can you tell us more? Back in the early parts of COVID, I actually got myself certified at the Life Coach School because I really loved this thought model that she was touting and it's really served me quite well to this day.

48The idea is that you're really being intentional with your thoughts. And this is how I boil it down for my groups is that you're being really intentional with your thoughts and that you're coming to your actions from an empowered place, a confident place. If you're coming to your actions from a place of, well, I don't really know if this is going to work, it may not work. Let's talk about a real world example of this. Break it down. The best example I have for you felt to me like turning a light switch on was getting, going from an unintentional thought to an intentional thought. And that happened to me the beginning of COVID.

34So let's talk about the first week in my industry, in the speaking industry, I'm getting panicked calls from clients saying my entire calendar just got wiped out for 2020. Ah, and so I'm taking all of this information in and my biggest thought was, oh my gosh, my industry has just been wiped out. And I'm in the feeling that that led to was devastation. And so a couple of days later in the week, Brooks said, let's everybody set out an impossible goal. And I want you to give yourself two months for this goal. We're going to do a kind of like a short turnaround goal. What is your impossible goal going to be?

22And I said, OK, I'm going to say something that I think is really impossible in this moment in time. I'm going to set out a $50 ,000 goal. Okay. I'm going to earn$50 ,000. And I had to really start to get to work on my thoughts. So my initial thought is my industry has been wiped out, obviously not serving me at all. So I flipped the switch. And actually this came from a reminder from a friend and colleague that, oh, wait a second. First of all, I don't make decisions based on fear typically, but secondly, the thought needed to be people need me now more than ever. The beginning of COVID, they're looking to leaders of the industry to say, you know, what do you think?

12And my, my thought really did legitimately switch to people need me now more than ever, which then led to a far more confident feeling. And so they gave us two months to reach that goal, the$50 ,000 goal. And I did it in four weeks. It was literally like flipping a switch at how quickly things changed. And from then on, and if anything ever were to happen in the future, recession, whatever it might be, I now feel completely prepared. What exactly do you attribute that to? Like what was an action you took that's made that possible? The first action was changing the thought. I had to do that because that was at the root of it.

02that was the fire mindset that I needed to adopt in order to proceed. Then, um, I did, I started reaching out to clients and saying, how are you doing? How can I serve you? How are you doing? And, uh, I think people really appreciated that. I ran, um, a branding bootcamp just to, you know, so that people had something to go and take their mind off things and really regroup on how they could serve in this time. And when we all refocused our energy onto how can we serve, everything got better. Now, a lot of people think the word fire is financial independence, retire early. How is this different?

49My definition of retirement is only doing the work you love. And so I have been actually starting to, uh, I just turned 60 last year. So I have been starting to pick and choose. I have a cherry picked group of coaching clients. I have a much smaller, we used to have quite a large school. We have a much smaller school mastermind now. Like I think only doing the work you love is really the definition of like the perfect base out. And I'll continue to do this. Who knows? 10 more years, maybe. Fire Nation, we have a lot more to talk about around this topic when we get back from thanking our sponsors.

38Okay. Let's talk about a platform that's completely changing how entrepreneurs are running their business, and they are also our featured partner, HighLevel. That's exactly why I created the Freedom Circle. Over the years, I built multiple businesses and helped countless entrepreneurs build theirs, and I learned one powerful truth. Success doesn't come from grinding harder. It comes from building the right systems, systems that attract the right customers, systems that automate the busy work, systems that create freedom instead of more stress.

27Inside the Freedom Circle, I hand you my exact playbook. 11:04Jane, we're back. And as we've mentioned, you work with professional speakers, specifically helping them earn more revenue. What difference is mindset making for them? You gave a couple of great examples of yourself. Give some examples of your clients. Sometimes we have mastermind students who start and they're coming in from a place of fear. One person in particular, Sharon, came into our school and said, I've got to make money quickly. And, uh, okay. So we really need to take a look at that mindset because I've got to make money quickly leads to a feeling of scarcity and kind of like a less than.

51And so even if she did go out and that's all day long, that's all we teach in the school is all the actions to take. Um, even if she did go out and take all the actions, she wasn't going to get results. So what we watched was her morphing her idea and her thought into something that was far more empowered, like, oh, actually, I have something really amazing to offer. I'm quite excited about this. It took a little bit of, you know, massaging of what it was that she was offering in order for her to come to a place of clarity. And of course, clarity led to confidence and she just started to bloom in front of our eyes.

37So the thought went from, I need to make money now to I'm so excited. I can be my authentic self and serve people in this way. And everything, all of the actions she took became more successful. And she's just out there killing it now as a result. Give us another example from another client in the same kind of vibe. I have a client named David Atkins. I've had him on my podcast a couple of times. And we've talked about the journey of the professional speaker. So we say that it takes about three years to really build a business. And really, that could probably cross into all industries. and he kept he came back to me I think after about 18 months and I'm very frustrated it's not working and so he he had a thought that really revolved around um the timeline wasn't what he wanted it to be.

46And so he actually put up a post-it on his computer that said, it's just a matter of time. That led to a more confident, calm feeling for him. So he continues to be taking all the action, seed planting, working the prospects. And of course he has success. the consistent action part of the equation is so so important and that's what he just hadn't had enough time under his belt so i think when you're feeling frustrated that things aren't happening on your timeline reminding yourself that i'm on the path it's just a matter of time can be a very healthy kind of mindset to lock down now speaking of mindset let's say we're stepping on stage for a high stakes presentation.

40How do you want to use this mindset tool in that situation? The best way to get yourself into the wrong mindset, walking onto a stage is to be thinking about yourself. When you flip it around, make it about them and really be about serving. I think that can be very, very helpful. So what that looks like is a thought that you could lock down walking out onto stage might be, I'm here to serve. There are people here who need to hear my message. I'm going to come at this and be, you know, confident and kind or whatever you want going to tell yourself. I try to remind myself when I'm walking on stage to, you know, really put my really put myself in the seat of the audience and to be as authentic as I can before I go out onto stage.

45So I think you give yourself a little pep talk, but if you frame it around serving others and not you, I think you'll be in really good shape on that. So Jane, we've talked a lot about mindset today, you know, specifically the fire mindset and what that can mean for individuals who are willing to be open to this and adopt this. Of all of that that we talked about, if our listeners could just walk away with one takeaway, what would you want that to be? I think it would be the tool that has you become more of a thought auditor. Really carry around that thought auditor with you at all times. And it's not just in business.

35I think the thought auditor can be very helpful at the annual family picnic because so many of the things that people say to us can annoy us or whatever it might be. And just being aware of whether or not you're allowing unintentional thoughts to take you down a bad path and, and make you feel unhappy on, you know, angry, whatever it might be. Um, I think if you're really just become, have this like heightened awareness of, wait a second, that's just a thought I'm having in this moment, I have the option to change that. You know, they say it's not what happens to you. It's what you do about it.

20But it's actually before that is what you think about it. So be aware of where you are at all times in your thoughts. And I think that can serve you quite well.
