Honored to be back with you, brother, for the three-peat. Holla. But yeah, man, I believe that you do not have to sacrifice balance in order to be successful.

2:37And I'm living proof that you can achieve blissful balance, both personally and professionally. And we're going to share with Fire Nation how they can too. Oh, you better believe it. And if you follow this guy on Instagram, Fire Nation, you see his Memorial Day Instagram of riding a horse with a flag in Montana. I mean, there's no balance there. That guy is just doing what he wants to do when he wants to do it. And we got some cool things we're talking about here today in the happy hustle and why masterminds are entrepreneurs secret weapon for success. But I want to start off with alignments and avoiding burnout and Achieving Blissful Balance.

3:15And you actually have 10 alignments that will help us do these things, avoid burnout, achieve blissful balance. Tell us more. Yeah. So real quick backstory. I was a burned out tech entrepreneur in New York City. I sacrificed my soul for a lot of what society deems important, ego, status, money, all the things. So I ended up folding my tech company. I moved to Bangkok, Thailand, and it was there where I put the happy in my own hustle and figured out a better way to work and live in alignment. And I really essentially just broke down my life in these 10 different areas. I call them the 10 alignments, which make up this acronym called soul mapping, your soul's map to the blissfully balanced promised land.

3:59So JLD, if you're feeling brave, man, I'd like to actually put you and Fire Nation through this assessment live on the mic so we can see where you may be out of balance and Fire Nation all the same. You game? I'm game. I'm brave. And I am brave enough to fail and fall on my face. Okay. Well, let's do it. So as I ask these questions to JLD, I hope everyone listening actually takes stock and writes down a number. So five is like an A. You're crushing it. You're happy hustling in this alignment. One is like an F. You're significantly lacking and you need to prioritize change in this area ASAP. And then you can fill in the interim A, B, C, D, E, or no E, obviously.

4:41But anyway, see, I wasn't much for school, but I kind of know the grading scale. Anyway, so let's start things off. Okay, so it's one to five, right? One to five. Just give yourself a ranking for each of these 10 different areas. And I'm going to ask you a couple of questions in each. and then we can just recap the total score at the very end for you, JLD. And five means the best. Five is the best. One is like, enough, you're failing. I'm ready. And just think about the last 30 days. I don't want you to do like your whole life on this. Yeah, this is gonna be tough because I just got back from a 23-day European river cruise.

5:14So maybe I'll think about the last 90 days encompassing. Yeah, okay, fair enough, fair enough. All right, so the S in soul mapping stands for selfless service. Like, are you living for your own personal gain and aspirations or are you giving your time, your money, your expertise to others and causes that you believe in? So give yourself a score, one to five. Definitely a four there. Definitely a four. Awesome. Okay. Oh, optimized health. Are you mentally, physically, and emotionally just feeling at your peak or maybe not so much? Have you been shoving crap down the pie hole and not necessarily taking care of yourself?

5:55So give yourself an honest score and, oh, optimize health. Okay. If you asked me this six months ago, I was a five. But the last six months have been intentional travel and gluttony. So I'm going to give myself a two with the caveat as a true score. So two is my score. But with the caveat that I am on day two of a 21-day amazing detox to get myself back up there. But I'm a two right now. Okay, fair enough. And again, give yourself grace, but be honest. That's really important here. All right, the U stands for unplugged digitally. You know, as entrepreneurs, we are constantly plugged into our devices.

6:34But it's so important that we set barriers in our using our devices, not letting them use us. and it's really important to just have that time to digitally detox, which we're gonna talk about more later. But where do you rank right now currently and unplug digitally, JLD? I'm a five across the board. I go for a three mile walk every morning in nature, the same thing every evening. I sit by my pool with a coffee and a book and I read. Of course, I'm on a computer from time to time, but I know that's not the point of this. I am digitally detoxed. I love it. Crushing. All right, the L stands for loving relationships.

7:11You know, what is it all for if you don't have love in your life? And I find a lot of entrepreneurs will sacrifice those relationships that mean so much to them in order to achieve this quote unquote success. So it's really important that you prioritize your loving relationships. So JLD, where do you rank in this one? Definitely a five. I mean, anybody that's met Kate knows that that's super locked in. And then I live in just the greatest entrepreneurial community that I've ever been a part of down in Puerto Rico, Palmas del Mar. And man, the people here are awesome. And I get to build great relationships every day.

7:48Oh, love it. All right. So now we got to the soul part. Let's get to the mapping part. Okay. So M stands for mindful spirituality. You know, I don't really care what religion you believe in or what God or anything in regards to the specifics. I just think it's important to have faith in something bigger than yourself, that you pray, that you meditate, that you practice breath work or prayer, whatever it is. Where do you rank in mindful spirituality, JLD? I'm a three. Definitely room for improvement here. Okay, awesome. A, abundance financially. You know, are you saving, investing, is spending wisely or maybe not so much?

8:24Is your business, you know, maybe hurting right now? I mean, be honest, abundance financially, where do you rank? I'm a four. I feel great about almost every part of that. It's still some room for improvement. Amen. Personal development is the first P. Where are you at in this one? You know, you're either growing and evolving, listening to shows like EOF, or you're shrinking and dissolving. Those are the choices. So where do you rank in personal development? I'm gonna give myself a five here. I'm always listening to audio books and podcasts and reading books that are improving that area of my life.

9:00Boom. Love it. All right. The second P, passionate hobbies. Where do you rank in this one? This is something too, I got to say, most high-performing entrepreneurs struggle with this one because they're giving to their clients. They're giving to their team. They're giving to their significant other. Maybe they're giving to their family and friends, but they don't give to themselves that time to do fun things that maybe you even have to pay for. I get it. It's tough. It's one of those that I see a lot of high performers lacking. But JLD, where do you rank in passionate hobbies? I'm a one. I always tell people, everybody I talk to, I'm like, I need a hobby.

9:35And everybody that has a really cool hobby, I'm just jealous of them. Wow. Well, there you go. Impactful work. This is the I in soul mapping. We're almost done, but this is about infusing your passion, your purpose to make a positive impact and actually feeling excited to get up in the morning and do what you do for work. Where do you rank in this one, JLD? That's a five. I feel blessed that I get to do what I'm doing right now. I mean, this is literally what I love doing. Yes. Amen. All right. And nature connection. Are you getting outside and connecting to nature and this beautiful planet? And oh, by the way, are you protecting it?

10:15Being a conscious consumer, supporting B corporations with ethical and sustainable supply chains. This is one that is so, so imperative. Nature Connection, JLD, where do you rank? I'm a three. I get out in nature a lot, but that last part about supporting, I can see there's definitely more I can do there. All right. Well, JLD, I have your scores written down, okay? And I'm going to add them up. And I hope everyone listening adds up their scores. And if you're a 40 or above, congratulations, my friend. You are happy hustling. Unfortunately, if you are 39 or below, well, we got some work to do. I'm a little nervous right now.

10:55Well, I wish I was a math guy. Hold on. Stand by. 16. Carry the three. Oh, JLD, you were so close, man. You were at 38. Oh, man. Unfortunately, that is not happy hustling. But you know what's cool about this is we can actually identify in real time where we need to prioritize change. And for you, man, man, it's passionate hobbies. We got to get you a hobby. If I get a hobby, man, I'm happy hustling. It's that simple. Exactly, man. And here's the cool thing. This is just a baseline and what you measure, you can manage. And I truly believe the first step to any positive change is awareness. So now we know and now we can make a change.

11:35And one really important principle, just to round out these 10 alignments is like, you have to actually make these priorities equal of importance, but focus on one at a time. So like when JLD is doing his passion and hobby, he needs to treat it with equal importance as he would his date night with Kate, as he would a interview with Carrie Jack, right? Like each of these have equal importance, but they're, they're focused and one at a time. And that's why I think a lot of people miss it, man. They just, they actually are at work and then they're thinking about their family. And then when they're with their family, they're thinking about work and they're not doing either effectively, focused, in the moment, present.

12:14So that's just a caveat to all of this. Man, Fire Nation, I actually really like the fact that I'm a 38 because it just gives me all that more desire to really identify the areas that's, you know, I'm a one, two, or a three and make those fours and fives across the board because that's what it's all about, continuous improvement, making things happen. And as the title says, you believe that masterminds are entrepreneurs' secret weapon. Tell us more. Yeah, I mean, And surrounding yourself with like-minded, inspiring people who actually want to help you win is literally a cheat code to the entrepreneur game. And I've seen it in my own life. I know you've seen it in your life, JLD, but I believe masterminds are the ticket.

14:46Let's talk about masterminds and why they're so powerful. What is it about masterminds that you really see as the ticket to an entrepreneurial success? First of all, it's not just any mastermind, right? Like I think that it's important to just define some parameters when you are picking a mastermind that's right for you. First of all, the people need to be at similar or even sometimes more of a higher level in terms of success, quote unquote, right? They also need to have similar business models, no competing niches, make sure your personalities vibe, similar time zones too. You know, like these are some very important parameters when you're picking the right mastermind, but then you can get into the weeds of, you know, your wins, your challenges and adversities.

15:32And then you can actually have these individuals support you and your business to achieve your dream reality. Fire Nation, I've been such a proponent of masterminds for so long. And I love masterminds that also include experiences and the bonding that happens. I mean, it's just next level, the breakthroughs that happen. You're just willing to be more vulnerable and you're put in this new experience and how are you going to react? And that is why I want to talk about the Montana Mastermind Epic Camping Adventure. This is something that Karen and I have been talking about literally for years now.

16:13I don't have the most flexible schedule in the world. So it's taken until now for me to be able to officially lock this in. Not, of course, ourselves, but our significant others. And that's going to be pretty special and pretty crazy. So it's happening in the fall for both of us. So that's why this trip in the summer is going to be our last hurrah for a little while. We have some more hurrahs coming up, of course, but we got some other priorities that'll be happening.

16:51So I want to have you talk about this Montana Mastermind epic camping adventure, how I am going to obviously be there every step of the way, fully involved and excited, and how we, Fire Nation, want you, the right individuals, to join us if it makes sense. And I always get asked to just spend time in nature, take people backpacking and camping and fishing and hunting and hiking and all the things.

17:36But it was just too many people to do one-off trips. And a lot of them were entrepreneurs. So we started putting together these entrepreneurial backcountry masterminds, essentially, where we actually hike 10 plus miles into the National Forest Wilderness. And we actually then camp out at an alpine lake, which is a 3 ,000 plus foot elevation climb. So it's no cakewalk, but we have a business mastermind deep in the backcountry, beautiful wilderness of Montana, where we learn primitive survival skills from expert survivalists, fly fishing. We bring a professional backcountry chef. We do breathwork, meditations, primal workouts, visioneering, the whole shebang, all the while masterminding our businesses with other high-performing entrepreneurs.
