The Biggest Misconception About AI
- Many companies assume that providing AI tools is sufficient, similar to granting access to email or PowerPoint.
- AI, particularly generative AI, produces unpredictable results and should be seen as a brainstorming partner rather than a mere execution tool.
- Companies need to focus on educating employees about AI, emphasizing responsible and effective use.
Cutting Through the Noise
- For casual users, many AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) are powerful enough without the need for deep specialization.

JLD here and welcome to Entrepreneurs on Fire brought to you by High Level, the all-in-one sales and marketing platform. Today, we'll be breaking down what the fox is wrong with how we're learning AI and how to fix it. To drop these vibe bombs, I have brought Luka Anik into EO Fire Studios. Luka is a Croatian-American co-founder of Fox and Spindle, an AI transformation consultancy. He maps out AI capabilities, trains the humans, and makes sure nobody breaks anything too much. So today, we'll talk about the biggest misconceptions, cutting through the noise, AI as a skill set, learning AI the right way, then never entrepreneurship.
0:37and oh, so much more. And a big thank you for sponsoring today's episode goes to Luca and our sponsors. Are you ready for the ultimate all-in-one platform for entrepreneurs, marketers, coaches, and agencies? Build funnels, automate follow-ups, manage clients, and even white-label your own software. Inside the Freedom Circle, you'll have access to my step-by-step systems for creating offers, building processes, and driving traffic, all in just 90 days.
1:20Ready for freedom? Visit freedom-circle.com to learn more. Luca, say what's up to Fire Nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree. with hello fire nation uh and thank you for that question um i think that real success is something about being authentic to yourself one thing that i hear over and over again from people is that you have to tailor yourself to your audience and i cannot tell you how much i hate that because in that case your only success metric is how much money you're making and obviously we all like money. It's because it's the reason we become entrepreneurs, but being successful is so much more than that.
2:08As a former never entrepreneur, I every day now I wake up without anxiety. I look forward to the daily challenges and I can't wait to see my coworker. And to me, just that feeling of peace and having fun and looking forward to work. It means that we were successful long before we've earned our first dollar as entrepreneurs. Of course. Fire Nation, you can tell this is going to be a fiery episode for obvious reasons. Because we're talking about what the fox is wrong with how we're learning AI. And of course, how to fix it. And it's a little play off of the fox and spindle name for Luca's business here.
2:46So I want to talk about the biggest misconception. Because Luca, there's a ton of buzz around AI right now, obviously. But what's the biggest misconception that you see when it comes to actually implementing it into business? I've talked to a lot of people, a lot of companies, and for the most part, they give access to their employees, to AI, and stop there. They think it's the same as having, you know, hey, here's your new corporate email account and access to your PowerPoint. And don't get me wrong, there are still many, many people out there that don't know how to make a decent PowerPoint. But the difference here is that something like PowerPoint is predictable.
3:26You click on the insert slide button and you pretty much know what's going to come right after that. With AI or specifically generative AI that is older age these days, it's not like that. It is software that does not want to be software because of the way that it works. It is literally generating ideas, new ideas on the spot. We never know what's going to come out of it. So people who use generative AI in a business setting are getting unpredictable results and thinking that they're failing with the implementation. When in fact, they should be using generative AI for brainstorming, for coming up with new ideas, new strategies, and changing the ways that they're working.
4:11They're trying to apply AI to things that worked before instead of finding new use cases for it. And that doesn't happen on its own. AI rarely explains itself unless you ask it to. So companies need to implement true education for their employees. Here's a new tool. It's not going anywhere. This is how you use it. And this is how you use it responsibly. It's a phenomenal new tool. But anything that has great power to help, it also has great power to harm. So any company that is implementing AI, and let's be honest, everyone is implementing AI. Every tool is touching AI in some way these days. They need to pay careful attention of how they're educating their workforce to use it wisely.
4:59With great power comes great responsibility, Fire Nation. And Luke, I want to talk about cutting through the noise. I mean, for someone just starting out, how do you filter out the hype and figure out which actual specific AI tools, skills, or strategies are actually worth the time? Easy. If you're going to be just a casual user, there's not much tradeoff in choosing one of them. Whether it's ChadGPT, Claw, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, whatever. If you're going to be a casual user, they're all powerful enough for you. Choose one, sit down, start typing, start talking to it. It's when you try to come to a kind of a niche market and decide, okay, I want to do something very specific.
5:44That's when you need to pay a little bit closer attention. But ultimately, because AI isn't a shortcut, it's not magic. It's a skill set you have to learn. If you're going to use it for work or for solving actual problems, you have to ask yourself a couple of questions. First, what is the problem you are actually trying to solve? Not, hey, how can AI help me with this? But what are you trying to do? And is AI even the right set of tools to solve that problem? Because it might not be. We keep throwing AI at everything and it's not meant for everything. You know, you wouldn't do math in Microsoft Word.
6:23So stop trying to have AI do everything for you. if ai is the right tool set to solve the problem then ask yourself are you ready to spend the time to learn how to become a pro at using ai and only if the answer to yes it's the right tool set and yes i'm ready to put in the time then go and test out all the tools that are available for that kind of task you know are you going to create videos with ai are you going to do text editing are you going to create music, there are ways to do that. But ask yourself, is AI the best way to do it? And if you don't have a few hours, a few days to dedicate yourself to actually becoming an expert at this, then are you just listening to the hype?
7:08Or are you trying to introduce a new tool that will make sense for you? So let's talk about AI as a skill set, because you said AI isn't a shortcuts. It's a skill set. So I want to break that down. What does that really mean for entrepreneurs and creators who are trying to build an edge like those individuals? Let's talk to those entrepreneurs now. Yeah. I mean, the great thing about AI is that it is encouraging us to start thinking in new ways. It's no longer a question of what do I know how to do? But with AI, it's what do I want to do? So if you're an entrepreneur and you're starting a business, you can ask yourself, what is my wishlist?
7:52What could I possibly do that I couldn't do yesterday? And with generative AI, that question has genuinely changed over the last few years. And while AI might not make you, you know, a lawyer or a brain surgeon, it can make you a pseudo engineer, it can make you a content marketer, it can elevate your strategy, but you need to ask it how to do so. Examples from Fox Spindle that we've done is we have built a whole AI readiness assessment that includes thousands of lines of code. And I don't know how to use Python. I've never taken an engineering class, nor would I ever say that I am an engineer, but I've used AI, specifically in this case, Chad, GPT, and Claude, to build a robust tool that is written in Python, three and a half thousand lines of code, that does a complete assessment of where you or your company are in your AI journey, and then matches you to our offerings at Fox and Spindle.
9:00If I had had to hire an engineer for that, I would be out tens of thousands of dollars. And here I was a non-engineer, just stubborn, spending about 40 to 60 hours with Chad, GPT and Claude coding away. I am not an engineer, but I've learned a ton along the way. And I'm constantly thinking, OK, how do we do work differently than we did before? What can we achieve that we couldn't before? And I think entrepreneurs in particular are going to be the ones who benefit the most from AI. Because while it is not a shortcut, you have to put in a lot of effort to make this work. You are able to do things that you don't know how to do.
9:51It truly is a superpower. I mean, if you listen to people like Luca, Fire Nation, you can turn this into a superpower, which is why we're talking about learning AI the right way, the never entrepreneur shift, the printing press moments, and oh, so much more as soon as we get back from thanking our sponsors. For entrepreneurs like you and me, cashflow isn't just another line item, it's everything. And if you're trying to manage it without a clear view of what's coming in and what's going out, it can feel like you're flying blind. That's when decisions get delayed, bills sneak up on you, and opportunities slip through the cracks.
10:24That's why so many businesses rely on Intuit QuickBooks. High level, join the revolution. All right, Luke, we're back, and I want to talk about learning AI the right way. I mean, everybody wants a quick fix, let's be honest, but what's your version of the fix? How can people actually learn AI effectively and build lasting competence instead of just chasing those trends that are happening every single day of the week?
12:50The first thing I tell anyone who's new at this is don't solve too many problems at once. You know, don't apply AI to work if you don't know how to use AI. Start by having fun because AI is fun. Tell it what you have in the fridge and ask it to help you come up with your meal plan for the week. Give it five of your favorite books and ask it, OK, what's the sixth favorite book I'm about to find out? trial and error talk to it and see what it comes up with comes up with for you because then you will be able to apply those skills that you've learned through having fun at work don't try to move mountains have fun there are so many resources out there youtube is full of them fox and spindle has webinars every week look online see what you can find out about ai or Here's a real tip.
13:46You know, go to ChadGPT.com and say, hey, ChadGPT, tell me how AI works, how generative AI works. AI is really good at explaining itself to you. So if you're trying to learn about it, AI can be your best teacher at this. And the more you do it, the better you will be. This is a fast changing industry. but if you stay on top of it if you play with it on a daily basis you are naturally going to gravitate towards becoming ai first at work as well as i'm building up my business i don't open up the old software anymore i rarely write and word i just open up one of my ai assistants and i immediately start brainstorming what are we going to do today together it's that mind shift of make everything AI first.
14:38Might not be the final answer to use AI, but start brainstorming with it. And Luca, I absolutely love that example you gave about here's five books I like. Give me a six book recommendation. Like I spend every night like crawling into bed and I'm like, okay, how do I turn my brain off? And I can only do that by like reading like a very much fiction book that just kind of takes me to like another place. And then I do like drift off to sleep. Like I love it, but it's so hard finding books. because I mean, I go through a lot because I read a lot. And I did that. And man, the books that I've been recommended because of that, I never would have found.
15:14Because I mean, to be honest with you, some of these books are like, you know, have like 30 Kindle, you know, 30 Amazon ratings, and maybe they're only three and a half or four stars. And so I would have never given those books a second glance. I've never heard of them or the author. but for some reason because of the the combination of books that I gave AI it kicked out these books and now I'm like on a series of 17 books by the same author and I am obsessed with this and I'm like man this is such an amazing way because I was able to show AI what I loved like if you like ask somebody else like well I like these books what you know they're gonna give you like what they love but like AI gave me what I loved like it was so cool and that's the beauty of AI because It doesn't think like a human being, nor does it think like a computer.
16:01Generative AI's essence is finding patterns and things. So when you gave it your favorite books, it didn't actually read them. It knew what commonalities they had. So you could have given it a mix of here's some fictional horror, here's some historical fiction, here's a comedy. and it will find common ground across any of those and be able to tailor exactly towards what you are looking for. AI is all about finding the patterns and things. Yeah, and it asked me questions to kind of clarify a couple of things too. And I was like, oh yeah, that was some good clarification. And then it gave me awesome results.
16:40And correct me if I'm wrong, but I think part of that is because every person has prejudice on some level. People want you to like what they like. They want you to live where they live. Whenever somebody's visiting a town, they're like, oh, I might move here. And the person that lives there is like, oh, it's the best town ever. You have to move here. And then they go home that night and complain about how crappy their town is. But to the person, they're like, I wanted this person to love the town. So it's just like I love that there's no prejudice. And like you said, it looks for those patterns.
17:12That's so key. So let's talk about the never entrepreneur shift. I mean, you've called yourself a former never entrepreneur. What changed your mind? How does that mindset shift connect to how we should be approaching AI today? For me, it was two things. First was the fact that I had a misconception of what it was that made me not want to be an entrepreneur. I thought it was simply that I always wanted the safety of working for someone, but it wasn't until I actually found a passion or specifically a career oriented passion. And it wasn't AI. It was teaching and building relationships with people.
17:51And it just happens to be that I have this knowledge and AI skill that I can then teach to people. The moment I realized that I thrive in front of an audience and want to talk to them, I had an inkling of, OK, I can do this. Let's let's let's start and build a company around it. The other thing was that I would never have done this alone. And I had the huge luck of my best friend, Jenny, and now Jenny is my business partner. She was ready for a big life change at the same time that I was. So we both did the unconventional thing of leaving our jobs and starting a company without any kind of idea of who our client was going to be.
18:34We figured out along the way. And it goes back to that. What does success look like? And to me, we've been so successful because we get to spend every day together building something new and talking to people, sharing our knowledge and just seeing people thrive. And because AI changes so frequently, we get to do that on a repeat basis, even with people we see all the time. So even for those of your listeners who think, oh, entrepreneurship isn't for me, it might just be that you're just missing that passion that you haven't discovered yet, but it's coming. Let's talk about the printing press moment.
19:14I mean, you've compared AI to the printing press, which was, of course, a total game changer for humanity. If that's true, what happens to the people who don't learn to use it? gosh i mean you're going to become the old guy that doesn't know the difference between a word doc and a pdf or like changing input on the tv in the office whether you like ai or not it's here to stay so learning it has not it's no longer optional the printing press for example when it came out people were afraid that oh scribes are going to lose their jobs this is going to be the end of knowledge and well clearly it wasn't the end of knowledge all of our knowledge is stored in books whether physical or digital now but it is true that scribes did lose their jobs you know ai is going to create a fundamental workforce uh change let's talk about the automobile when it came around it changed how we travel but it's also polluting our atmosphere with all the gases that we do does that mean that we were we would not have invented the car that we would go back in the past and change that no of course not we love having cars we love being able to drive to our neighbor's party to the pool to work to you know take our kids to the doctor when we need to ai is a similar thing sure it has downsides upsides biases environmental impacts but it's a technology that's here to stay so we might as well learn how to use it now and there still is the opportunity to be on the front line of it.
20:49Just because everyone's talking about AI, that doesn't mean that everyone is using it and using it correctly. So it's not too late to be that early adopter still. Luka, give us the closing value bomb. This is for Fire Nation, who's ready to stop watching AI from the sidelines. What is one bold action they can take today to start mastering this new era? I mean, besides logging on, creating a free account and try and get out. Find a group of people that you can share this experience with. Come up with ideas, throw spaghetti at the wall, use AI to create something you haven't been able to do before.
21:29You can do so on your own. You can look for newsletters. The Neuron Daily comes to mind, an amazing newsletter that I actually read on a daily basis, unlike everything else I subscribe to or you can come join us at fox and spindle uh we're launching our inaugural entrepreneurship class um we used ai heavily to launch our firm learning all the things from how do i register my firm in my county all the way to how do i build this website and how do i create video games to entice people to come and check it out so if you want to know how to launch launch your own company with the help of AI, you can check us out at foxspindle.com.
22:14And just give a little more detail about that class. I know that you're launching it soon. What are a couple more details and why is it for Fire Nation? Yeah, so it's going to be an eight-week live class where we're going to cover everything from the basics. What is AI and how can it help you? So we'll have an AI 101 crash course in it. And the idea is that by the end of the eight weeks, you can fully launch a company with a cohort of other students with it. We will help you use AI from everything to coming up with your branding message to solidifying what your product is. We will talk through all the nitty gritty stuff of the paperwork, the legalese.
22:56obviously we're not lawyers and we don't pretend to be, but something like AI can help you jump through a lot of hoops before you have to implement, um, or hire, uh, outside sources for things like this. Okay. Where do we go to sign up for this eight week live course? Yeah. It will be at foxandspindle.com slash, um, how the Fox, how the Fox and that's F O X. Yes, it is. Love it. Well, Luca, thank you for sharing your truth, your knowledge, your value with Fire Nation today. For that, we salute your brother and we'll catch you on the flip side. Thank you for having me. Hey, Fire Nation, a huge thank you to our sponsors and Luca for sponsoring today's episode.

Top 3 Value Bombs
1. AI isn't a shortcut; it's a skill set. Learning AI means learning how to think differently, not just faster.
2. True innovation requires curiosity. The biggest mistake companies make is trying to apply AI to old processes instead of using it to create new ones.
3. Entrepreneurship starts with authenticity. Real success is enjoying the work you do every day not just the money you make.
