In short

ESPN FC panel reviews Atletico Madrid’s Champions League comeback vs Barcelona at the Metropolitano, then shifts to other UCL ties (Liverpool-PSG, Bayern-Real) and Arsenal/Sporting context.

Guests (panelists)

Kay Marie, Craig Burley, Stevie Nichol, Stuart Robson, Luis Garcia, plus Frank Leboeuf (for the Liverpool-PSG segment). They discuss tactics, officiating, and match momentum.

Key claims

  • Barcelona’s high line and defensive “gamble” exposed Atletico to runs behind; it also contributed to red cards across the tie.
  • Atletico deserved to progress by executing their plan and managing small moments better.
  • Barcelona’s attacking style (high pressure/high line) is exciting but they “ran out of steam” and conceded decisive chances.
  • Officiating: no penalty for Dani Olmo; Eric Garcia’s red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity was broadly correct.

Notable examples

  • Goals: Lamin Yamal (4’), Ferran Torres (24’), Adamola Lookman (31’); Atletico’s aggregate progression after a late Ronald Araujo header chance (97’).
  • Red card: Eric Garcia sent off (77’) vs Alexander Sørloth.
  • Liverpool-PSG: Liverpool missed chances; PSG advanced 2-0 (4-0 agg) with Dembele scoring twice; no penalty for Liverpool when McAllister went down.

0:34Hello and welcome into the latest edition of ESPN FC. Kay Marie, Craig Burley and Stevie Nichol here in the studio kicking things off at the Metropolitano where Atleti were taking on Barcelona. Atleti with the 2-0 lead going into this second leg, but it was Barcelona who raced off to a two-goal lead in the game. In the fourth minute, Lamin Imal would score and in the 24th minute, Ferran Torres would add a second. Just minutes after that, Firmin had a chance to make it three, but instead he would take a boot to the face. The match would be paused for over four minutes, but he would stay in the game.

1:07In the 31st minute though, Atleti would pull one back, Adamola Luckman with the goal there. And then in the 41st minute, Dani Elmo would go down in the box, pushed by Llorente, Koke was there too. Stevie was it a penalty for you? Absolutely not And then we take it to the later stages of this game and in the 77th minute Eric Garcia would be given a red card for denial of a goal scoring opportunity on Alexander Sarlott Was it the right call Stevie? Yeah again, referee got it spot on 97th minute a big chance would come to Ronald Araujo to send it to extra time but he would head it over and it is Athletic progressing on aggregate Let's welcome in to talk more about this Champions League tie.

1:51Stuart Robson, Luis Garcia. We'll hear from both of them in a moment. Your reaction to what we saw tonight though, Craig? Well, I wasn't surprised by the way Barca played at the start because we know that's how they can play. And it was an exhilarating start and there was two goals. And it was a good play from Barca, but it was also a bad play from Atleti. And really it was a direct, what was I going to say, The high line allowed them to play as high up the field and press the ball and get that start and scored the goals and pressurised Longley and all that sort of stuff. The high line allowed that.

2:27But a consequence of the high line and continuing to, as Stevie said during the game, gamble, a consequence of that was two red cards over the two games. And once again, the Atleti goal. It was a consequence of that line. And that's the gamble. The gamble was it would get them in the game early, as they always play it. It would squeeze the game. They would really press Atleti and they'd win it back high. And they did all that. But unfortunately, the other side of it was that when Atleti got some decent possession, there was so much space to run into. And obviously, the Lukman goal changed the narrative and the momentum of the game a little bit.

3:06And they've lost two players in both games, Cuba Arcee and Eric Garcia, two centre-halves, because they've played this line and it's been exposed. and defenders have been desperate. So from that sense, I don't think you can have any complaints of your Barcelona, and I don't think many expected Adleti to go through. But, you know, I'm saying before the tie started, before both ties started, but they didn't buckle when they went 2-0 down. They just kept going and kept going, and yeah, they could have had some more themselves. And I felt Basa ran out a bit of steam. We saw the header in the second half, but as they drop deeper, Atleti, that is, as they drop deeper and deeper, we were talking about it.

3:50We didn't really see Laminya Mal in the second half do anything brilliant. I mean, there was always bodies around them. So, in the end, not a great night for Barca. And I think you saw it with the smile on Semi on his face. A very good night for Atletico Madrid. And Barca got themselves to blame here, Robbo? Of course they have, because they were in complete control of the game. They should have made it 3-0, the header by Firmin Lopez, he should score. It's a good save by the goalkeeper. But you're in control of the game. You're 2-0 up, you've got yourself back in the tyre, and you've got to be aware of runs in behind.

4:22Yes, I understand they want to play a high line, but the two incidents which cost them the goal, Eric Garcia, rather than running square across the field, he should be running back towards the corner flag, so that when Llorente gets there, he can block off the cross. But he doesn't, he goes on the wrong angle, the cross comes in, And if you saw the league game or the cup game earlier on a few weeks ago, the same thing happened when they won the 4-0. Those same runs, those same balls, the same run that Lukman made caused them problems. And for the sending off, then Martin, Gerard Martin, he's the one that should be dropping off.

4:55He should see the danger. And you've just got to drop off two yards and Solot doesn't get in. And then, as Craig just said, then defenders are desperate. Then they're trying to get back in. Then they make the wrong decision. any sort of contact was going to be ascending off, and Eric Garcia fell into it. So they've only got themselves to blame in terms of their defending. Luis, what do you think of what the guys are saying? No, we are not talking anymore about only the high line. We are not talking about how Barcelona play, because I think it's a good game, both teams. Don't forget we are talking about two of the best teams in Europe.

5:27That's why Atletico Madrid goes to the semifinal, 12-4 in the competition. but we're going now to the scene, to the little mistakes the decisions you have to make in these kind of games with the amount of your tired what is around you the feeling, the emotion, you have to manage a lot of things, we are talking about the best of the best but that's why you have to go to these kind of moments that Robbo is mentioning and the decision of going to a one of the crosses, the decision of making a step back a step forward decision of Ronaldo in that situation if you are on a midnight probably if that ball goes to Lewandowski we are talking about a 3-3 equalizer in the competition and they maybe go to exterdam so they are very little small details and I think that today Atletico Madrid was better in that situation they did one in the first 45 minutes they did another one for the second goal of Barcelona but that's all about it they were really organized they knew they will have at some point one or two that's why Simeone has been playing against Barcelona in the same way.

6:30So in the end, we are going to the very small details that that's what makes a top, top team, a team that is ready to win the Champions League to an average team to a team that they can play well. They probably will be La Liga Barcelona. They probably will be next year fighting again for the top competition. But when you are talking about the best of the best in Champions League, those small mistakes from, let's not forget, it's a very young, talented team. They will improve. They will need a couple more, three signings for next year because in the end, when you arrive to those top, top teams, they've been missing.

7:01We remember last year against Inter Milan, it was exactly the same. Today it was Atletico and Madrid. So yes, they play a fantastic game, but Atletico Madrid in the both teams, I think in the both games, I think they deserve it because their plan worked perfectly well. What are the moments that Hansi Flick is going to be ruining now after that game? Oh, I think the big one is, I mean, obviously the header at the end, but the big change for me was the fairing chance when he ends up getting injured. If that goes in and it's 3-0... Sorry, for me, yeah. For me, if that goes in. Because up until that point, Atletico Madrid had no idea what had hit them.

7:41They couldn't keep the ball, they kept giving it away. The odd time they had a hold of it. But unfortunately for Barcelona, Barcelona at their best can only play one way. And that is high pressure, high line. but when they run out of steam as they did today they can't do anything else you know at 2-0 after that chance it should have been right we need to calm down we're back in the game let's just take a little bit of steam out of the game let's regroup calm the game down and then we can go again we've still got another second half to go and another 15 minutes in the first half you cannot play at 100 miles an hour for 90 minutes, many games have they had this season?

8:3060 games a season? You can't do that. Barcelona are going to have the same problem as long as Hansi Flick is running that team between the end of this season, next season, depending on how long he's going to be there. His problem is always going to be how do they change? How can they play a different way? Because right now they can't. And as great as it is to watch and as exciting as it is, they ran out of juice today. and that for me is as big a reason why they got beat because they had nothing left in their legs by, what, an hour? It was the sixth time they faced each other this season. To Stevie's point, it has been fun to watch this tie.

9:07But I think Atleti are one of the sides that have done a better job at figuring out how to get the right ball in behind at the right time. And I think a lot of that is, obviously, you've got Sol Loth that come on, but you've got Julian Alvarez that'll run, you've got Juliana that'll run in behind but you've got, more importantly, you've got Antoine Griezmann picking up some really intelligent positions when Barca have the ball so that if it breaks down, they can really pounce. And I don't think, and that's the reason they're out, the Copa del Rey, and the reason they're out the Champions League, is that Hansi Flick didn't have a proper game plan for when they coughed the ball up.

9:55It became too harem-scarum in the end. It was almost like getting carried away with the way they were playing, which was great. But you have to keep the back door shut, or at least attempt to keep it shut, and they never have. So it's the reason they went out in the Champions League last year, a big part of it. It's the reason they're out this year. it's not because they're not good going forward. It's not because they don't create chances. It's because they've had a man sent off in both games and they've coughed up goals, leaving far too much space. Now, if you're saying to me, well, we get success in the Liga by playing this way and we squeeze the pitch and because of the high line, we're able to get a lot of pressure, I'll give you that.

10:37That's fine. That's fine. But ultimately, the two years in the Champions League, as Luis mentioned, when you get into the elite level of this competition, the quarterfinals, the semifinals, teams are a bit, or they should be, teams are a lot shrewder. And when you've got this back four playing the way it is, then the chances are you're going to get caught out. And I thought Atleti did a really good job, especially in both cup competitions. You know, 4-0 up at the Metropolitano after the first leg was quite embarrassing, really, for Basa, even though they almost came back with three goals in the second.

11:11But again, you're asking your players to take these huge gambles, and ultimately then you're either losing goals or you're losing players because people are having to make rash decisions because the sore loss and the... I can't remember who it was in the first game running through on goal, Juliano Alvarez. Two players getting sent off. That's a tough hill to climb when you're down to 10 men on both occasions. Luis, could Barcelona win the Champions League playing this way in future seasons? Are they going to have to fine-tune something if they're to do that? Yeah, they can win, yes. I think that they can overplay any team.

11:48I think they can manage to win many games, but if we go, again, to these kind of moments, when you play against top-top teams, they can figure it out, first of all, because the quality, the technique, the ability, because you are arriving to a stage where those small details are the ones who matter the most. Today, Barcelona could go through, but they always play to score more goals at the opening. They know, and I think that Hansi Pli has mentioned it quite a few times. I know the risk that I'm taking. I know that I'm going to concede chances. But what I'm counting on is that with the way that I play, with the aggressiveness of my plays and the intensity, I got enough quality and talent from that I'm going to score more goals than the opponent.

12:31And today, it could have happened that in the first 45, you score two goals. But in the end, you concede that one. That one is the one that hurts you the most because you have to, again, think about scoring twice. And today, let's not forget, there's no Rafinha there. Perrantoli has been in great shape, but Lewandowski has been not the best. And when he came on into the field, he didn't have enough opportunities. So in the end, you are again into those little details. The Fermin chance, the Araujo last-minute chance, very small details. So in the end, if you score that couple of occasions, yes, we all have to say, oh, it's a fantastic game, they did brilliant, and that's what they're going through.

13:09but in the end if you don't score one of those it's what you get you're not going through and that thing is that's going to happen probably next year too you will arrive at this occasion and if you score those opportunities if you score the chances you're going to have it could be enough but so far what we've seen is that it hasn't been enough for Barcelona you can play in a fantastic way we can all enjoy that beautiful combination the fantastic way that LaMilla Mal is managing and leading this team but in the end those small mistakes that you commit at the back is costing you not going through to the final of the Champions League.

13:41And I think that you will say, hey, we are going to see exactly the same the next year. The answer to the question is, I think, yeah, they could possibly win the Champions League with playing that way, but not with this personnel. Not with this personnel. No, no, Eric Garcia has done a great job for Hansi Fleck, you know, right back, you know, centre-half, midfield. And Gerard Martins has been, you know, workman-like solid for them. But come on. Come on, I mean, is there any other, you know, if it wasn't Nides Moss, who's signing Gerard Martin? He's not a world-class centre-half. Paul Kubarcy, he wasn't playing tonight, he's a young man, possibly with a bright future ahead of him, but they haven't got world-class centre-halves.

14:25He doesn't fancy Ronald Arruha playing in there, even though he's the biggest, the strongest and the quickest, he doesn't play the offside very well, hence he's on the bench. So they don't have what you would call world-class defenders. and when you're playing that way you're going to have to bail yourself out a lot and that means having top defenders. They don't have that. Joe Kinsella's a good footballer. He's like Trent Alexander-Arnold. He's not a good defender. So the answer is you possibly could but you're going to have to go out and bring in real top quality players along that back four and that's what they don't have.

15:02Robbo, where are you on that question? They can. but they can still play their great football. They can still have their combination. They can still get the brilliant individualism. I can't even say the word. You mean Lamar. You can get all the play down the left-hand side, the runs of Rafinha. You can get all that going on for you. All you have to do is adjust your defensive line by five or 10%. Get players to read danger because the two situations we've just talked about could have been stopped if the two players, the two centre-halves, read the danger. They don't have to try and squeeze up to play offside on that occasion.

15:38Somebody's got time on the ball. You know that Griezmann's going to play that ball down the side first time. You can see the run of Llorente, so you drop instead of squeezing up, and you just defend it. Then the person doesn't get in behind you. The same with the second one. But it happens week in, week out. So at the moment, with Hansi Flick as the manager, and these players as the defensive line, they aren't going to win the Champions League. But that could be changed if he just wasn't quite so stubborn and just looked at it from a different point of view and changed it by 5 or 10 % and they would be a much better team because the way they defend at the moment, they're always going to concede some chances, get players sent off and in the end, they're going to lose games.

16:15Hansi Flick doesn't have an option, actually. You know, we keep saying about, is he going to tweak it? But he doesn't have the players that have the brains to tweak it. And when we say tweak it, we're talking about somebody has to decide when we drop and somebody has to decide when we hold the line. That's what normal teams do. That's what good teams do. But when you've got two centre-backs who are not good enough footballers in terms of their brain, then Hansi Fleck has to make it simple for them and say, right, when the ball's here, we have to hold the line here. So from a coaching point of view, he's making this simple for his back line because he knows they don't have the football intelligence that he can trust them to decide when we drop and when we step up.

16:59And so he has to do a certain thing. Until he gets two centre-backs, then nothing's going to change, and it won't change. Let's take a look at some of the moments in the game. Let me come back to you, Robbo. 41st minute, did Barcelona have a penalty overlooked here on Dani Olmo?

17:17No, I don't think it is. When I was seeing it first time, I didn't think it was a penalty. There is a slight shove, there's a hand on his back, and you can see that Koke puts his arm across, but he goes down far. He's in a great position to go and get his shot away. gets a little shove goes down too easily I think the referee and the VA were right not to give it Luis? Yeah I agree I think that Daniel Moore finds it easy to go down he feels the little push and then he tries Lucks going on the floor so very good call I don't see penalty over there If the push last week for those that can remember by Ibrahima Kanati on Monday the full back from PSG wasn't a penalty kick I'm not saying two wrongs make a right, but that was a push.

18:02This, for me, was more a lean from Llorente. He sort of leaned into the back of Dani Omo. He felt the contact and bowled himself over. And I think the referee spotted that straight away. He got validation from his VAR, but I think that was the right call. Let me say with you, Eric Garcia's red card, where are you on it? Yeah, no, I'm OK with the red, but it is one that you'd have to look at because Koundy is coming round, but I think the big thing is, and Stevie mentioned this, even though Alexander Solov is left-footed, that doesn't negate the fact he might take this straight, play it straight in front of him and take it on his right foot, which would then basically negate the ability of Jules Koundy to get round and stop a goal-scoring opportunity.

18:50Because if Alexander Solov takes it on his left foot, which is his natural foot, Koundy can come in, but if he takes it that way, he's getting a strike on goal. He is getting an opportunity to score if he takes it on his weaker foot, which he is allowed to do. So even though it looked like Koundé was probably going to get round, I think, and that's what the referee saw with his own eyes, I think when he went to the monitor, he realised that the big Norwegian was going to be able to get a strike away and hence that's why it was a correct red card. Can Barcelona fans argue, Robbo, that if Olmo went down too easily, Solot went down too easily here?

19:27you can but the situation was that you know Eric Garcia cannot touch him he must know that he's in behind him he's racing through to goal he is going to be racing through to goal I cannot touch him and I think by the little shove in the back I think he might have only he might have clipped his own legs saw lot but there was a alarm on him there was a slight push and I think the referee had to give it once he saw it once the the saw lot was on the side as they because they gave him offside to start with, so it wasn't going to be a red card, it was just a yellow card. Then they looked at it again, he was onside, they looked at the decision, I think it's right to send him off, because he did make some sort of contact with his arm.

20:04Do you think we're going to see the two situations compared more, Luis?

20:11We can compare it as many times as we want it.

20:17Have Barcelona got... We can't, we can't. Luis has just frozen a bit there. sorry we just lost you we'll just take him away if Barcelona have they got the Real Madrid bug disease whatever it is, infection at the moment whatever you want to call it come on, let's have a little look in here let's not look at the excuses of the refs again, this call didn't go away that call didn't go away you didn't do enough over the two legs you didn't do enough in the Copa del Rey you didn't do enough in the Champions League you were giving yourself a big mountain to climb you did a great job early on but you got caught out with the same old problems that have afflicted you in this competition before and in other cup competitions in the league they're okay because next week's another week and next Tuesday's another game and Saturday's another game and some of the opposition obviously in the bottom half of Spain are a lot weaker and Real Madrid haven't been any great shakes this year we'll see what happens tomorrow when they're playing at Bayern So it's not about these little decisions going against them.

21:22It's about the mistakes they made in both these ties and how they got punished for it, really. Obviously, Diego Simeone rested pretty much everybody at the weekend. Eleven players playing the weekend. It's not fair. And then we do get to see how seriously he took it, Robbo. Let's talk about what they've done in this time, what they've been doing against Barcelona in this competition, because obviously they're the ones going through to the semi-final tonight. Yeah, we all talk about Atletico Madrid sitting deep and making themselves very compact, which they do at times. But over the two games, they've actually tried to press the ball when they thought they could press it a little bit higher up the field.

22:00They've made the game quite open at times. And they knew that if they could get Griezmann in that space and find him with the ball, he's got the ability to find the right pass. And they had runners going from wide. Lukman, I thought, was excellent today, particularly in the first half. up against Koundé, he made the right sort of runs, he got him in 1v1 situations. Simeone himself likes to make those runs when the ball's played in behind, and Llorente makes runs from his field, but I think Craig said it earlier, if you've got Griezmann sitting in that hole and finding that bit of space, he's got the cleverness, he's got the ability to find the right pass.

22:31And Atleti, over the two games and the Copa del Rey two games, found ways of passing it in behind Barcelona without getting themselves caught offside as much. So they've got it absolutely right over the two games they deserve to go through. Next up for them, Luis, is the winner of the Arsenal sporting tie. So far, Arsenal are leading that game 1-0. What type of chance do you give them against Arsenal or sporting?

22:57Again, it's 50-50. I mean, with Atletico Madrid, you have seen that it can be the best team in the world and they can do the worst game. So it depends what we find into the game. what I can assure you is they're going to compete it doesn't matter, I think that Arsenal at the moment they are ahead and probably is the team that is going to go through but Arsenal is going to find a team that is going to be waiting their opportunities and we've seen it so far many, many times there with this Atletico Madrid not only now, but in the years that Simeone has been in Atletico Madrid it's very well organized and maybe this year it wasn't enough to compete for La Liga because that big blow they had in the middle of the season, but they go so much talent all around the pitch and they got a very deep squad where you can find players in all kinds, speed players on the wide area.

23:50Suddenly you can use Nico, as we saw today on the right side, to hold Rashford and then he can play on the left side. And then you go look man who kind of gave us something different to this Atletico Madrid that is a little bit more accuracy at the front and more clinical situation. He arrives in the right position. He doesn't make too many things during the game. He's waiting for his opportunity. But when he's on the ball, it's always dangerous. And I think that they found the best Griezmann at the right time. Griezmann has been waiting his opportunity. We all know that age doesn't help on these kind of games.

24:24But I think we are seeing the best of Griezmann at this stage. And when he's on the ball, anything can happen. Today, it was all about moving the ball quickly to one side, the other side, to avoid the pressure of Olympico Madrid, arriving to the right spot. We saw him defending last game against Barcelona when he was needed. So he provides you all that. And with Julian Alvarez doing the best of the best up front, I think this Aletico Madrid is ready to fight any kind of teams. And again, they're going to have opportunities. And if they use it like they did with Barcelona, then why not? We can see Aletico Madrid once again in another final.

26:34I need auto parts.

26:43At Anfield, Liverpool were looking to turn things around against PSG, but it was not to be. In the 28th minute, not good news for Liverpool. Uwe Ketike went down and had to be stretched off. Mo Salah would come on for him, the player in some distress and in some pain as he was taken off. To the 64th minute we go, though, and you wondered if it was a penalty for Liverpool as Alexis McAllister went down under Paco. Penalty for you, Stevie? Absolutely not. 73rd minute is when PSG would go ahead. Dembele scored the first of the goals and the second on the night as well. In the 91st, he made it 2-0 on the night, 4-0 on aggregate and PSG progressed.

27:24Frank Leboeuf was watching this for us. He joins us now. Stuart Robson's still with us too. But Stevie, I'll start with you. Do you know what, I have to admit Around the 65th minute I started to think They might have a chance here Because up until then I wasn't feeling it Up until then I was happy that Liverpool had been competing Because this game was a competition You know, both sides Not too many chances But particularly Liverpool in that second half Absolutely tore in the PSG Now unfortunately for Liverpool the final pass, the final decision, the final whatever it was in that attacking third, the ball just wasn't slightly off.

28:08It was awful. I mean, it was awful. The amount of times that the pass was missed by a good half a yard to a yard in and around that penalty box was just way too much. But then, of course, we know what PSG are like on the break, the movement, the quality of the passing. you're talking about two great passes, two great decisions and two finishes. I mean, that's basically what they gave to this game. And it was too much of a Liverpool. But in terms of the whole game, if Liverpool, between now and the end of the season, can show the same spirit, the same desire, the same quality from the back to the front, then they will get a Champions League spot.

28:50Obviously, they have to do way better in the final third. but in terms of the game I thought it was a good competition and I was happy that Liverpool competed until that goal in the 71st minute It was the same scoreline as the first leg but it wasn't the same embarrassment The game in Paris could easily have been 6 and that's not a stretch to say that and so there was a much more competitive edge to Liverpool particularly up until that box but I can't help but feeling that, again, with a 2-0 lead, PSG were kind of caught in between two stools here about how to approach the game. Don't want to try and dominate it and put it to bed, but don't want to leave ourselves open.

29:37So you kind of get caught maybe half and half, and that allowed Liverpool to get a foothold in the game. But they didn't take their chances. And ultimately, the best team by a stretch over the two legs is going through here. There wasn't a lot of confidence, Frank, in the studio yesterday that Liverpool were going to turn it around against this PSG? And that's fair. After the first leg and what we have seen, and Craig just said it, Paris could have easily win 6-0. But as we said, after the first leg, Paris Saint-Germain didn't finish the job and could have been in danger. And they were in danger.

30:12If the first half the game was quite balanced and I think Paris Saint-Germain wasn't in danger whatsoever, as the guy said again, Liverpool couldn't finish the job in their actions. In the second half, I started to get a little bit nervous and I said, well, if Liverpool scores and we had that penalty, it wasn't a penalty, of course, but that was intense for like a minute. We said, well, if Liverpool score that penalty, 1-0, it can be a different story and we know the pressure you can feel and fine in Anfield. So they were close to kind of a miracle. I would say that overall, the best team won.

30:56But don't forget that Safonov had nine saves. They gave the trophy of the best player to Dembélé. He scored two goals, but we barely saw him before those two goals. But Safonov had nine saves. So he says a lot about what Liverpool was able to do in the second half, putting the European champion in a big threat. What was your biggest takeaway, Robbo, from this game? Well, in the first half, I didn't think Liverpool played with any composure. Yes, they worked hard. They tried to close PSG down, but PSG played with more composure. But it all changed, actually, with the substitutions. Salah came on and, although he wasn't at his best, he still did some very good things.

31:34Gakpo at centre-forward was better than Izak was because Izak had no contribution in the first half whatsoever. And Fringpong looked nervous, gave the ball away cheaply in the first half as well. And Gomez came on and then Subazlaya had to go back to right back. But I thought the changes and Liverpool played well in the second half. And had the penalty been given, it was right not to be given, even though Mark Clattenburg on the English television said it was absolutely a penalty. And I don't know why VAR was called in until it had to be a penalty. That sums it up, really, doesn't it? But anyway, and in the end, they didn't quite have enough composure in front of goal.

32:07As Stevie said, the final pass, the final shot wasn't quite good enough. And the two breakaway goals were enough for PSG. But over the course of the two games, PSG have been brilliant, haven't they? Klatenburg trying to make friends. That's what he's trying to do. Just like us. That's what we do. We always try and make friends, don't we? Yeah, of course. You're so friendly to everybody. No, but I mean, I'm not here. Not with this lot. No, but with everybody we're talking about. I'm talking about people watching, you know. It's not a penalty. Always try to be nice. How can you say that's a penalty?

32:36Frank, is this PSG as good as last season's? I would say so. I wouldn't say so, sorry. I think they showed that some games against Chelsea away from home, at home against Liverpool last time. Yeah, they showed that it's still there. And when they are, they are all together, playing all together. Today, we didn't see a big man death. He got injured. We didn't see a strong Hakimi. Vitinha was in the Vitinha that we saw in the first leg. They kind of sometimes get shaky and make ourselves being shaky as well because we don't recognize them. But they were strong today. They were strong at the back with Patio, with Marquinhos, making a great save in front of Van Dijk.

33:18And of course, again, Safonov making those saves. So they showed today that without being good, they are quite resilient and they don't give up. And they do the job to keep the clean sheet. But no, they're not as good as they were last season. But so far, so good. And let's see how it goes against Bayern Munich or Real Madrid. That's going to be a different story. I think. Both would be brilliant, wouldn't they? PSG against either Bayern or Real Madrid. Yeah, I hope it's Bayern because... No. No? PSG against Bayern would be brilliant. PSG, Bayern. I hope it's Bayern. Yeah, that would be a great game.

33:54You've got two teams that want to go that way. Two teams that are not interested in sitting and defending and trying to counter. I mean, that would be fantastic. No disrespect to Real Madrid, but yeah, that would be great. Bayern Munich, PSG. It's a shame, actually, that is, you know... Semi. Not the final. Yeah, I mean, it is right it's the draw you've got Atleti actually playing better stuff at the moment than in the other semi-final probably against Arsenal who are not playing well at all but you know the way Bayern played in that in that first game they've got to feel good about about going through but if it is to be Bayern and it's still a bit of an if that is a coin toss that game isn't it PSG in Bayern that really is a toss of the coin because so much attacking talent on both sides.

34:45But yeah, obviously Bayern got some what to do tomorrow against Real. Yeah, PSG with a score to settle against Bayern as well. We'll see if that is the case. But when it does come to English opposition in the Champions League knockout stage, did they advance? Yes, on every single occasion against Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa and Liverpool again. So PSG seem to do pretty well against the English teams. OK, the Allianz Arena tomorrow. Bayern bringing a 2-1 lead over Real Madrid into the second leg. These are some notes about that tie. Bayern have advanced in 12 of its previous 13 Champions League knockout stage ties after winning the first leg on the road.

35:25Real Madrid have been eliminated in each of its previous five European knockout stage ties after losing the first leg at home. Most recently that happened in the 2019-20 season against Man City. and Chumeni is suspended. Real Madrid is one win, two draws and one loss without Chumeni this season in the team. So let's get some predictions from our panel. Everybody has got Bayern going through. That's how things stand as it is right now. What are you expecting, Robbo, in this game tomorrow? I'm expecting Bayern to dominate the play and we saw in the first game that Real Madrid can be a threat on the counter-attack.

36:04We're going to see more of that. Bayern will dominate possession. They will create chances. I think they're going to win the game by, as you saw there, 2-1. But it won't be as easy as maybe some people think because Real Madrid were a threat on the counter-attack. Sometimes Bayern just leave their two centre-halves back, push their full-backs on. Kimmich isn't the quickest when he's defending in central midfield. So I think it's going to be 2-1, but it'll be a tight game which Bayern dominate most of the play. The trailing in La Liga, nine points behind Barcelona. Real Madrid backs are against the wall here.

36:33Does that change things? Not really. They're still a dangerous team when you cough possession up because Vinicius and Mbappe will cheat. And by that, I mean they'll take a chance by not coming back. And they'll just hope that they can spring them over the top. And if Jonathan Tan and Pomi Kama are two on two and they're sleeping or they're not in good positions, they'll get punished. But if Bayern... Both teams created a lot of chances in the first game, but a lot of Real Madrid's chances were from sort of outside the box and Neuer made some great saves. But Bayern, if they can be clinical in that final third, they should create a lot of chances.

37:14If they can be clinical, I think they can put this game to bed because they are the better side. They're the slicker side, they're better organised, they pass it better, the passing of movement is excellent. But they've got to be careful they don't get undone by those two players that I mentioned on the counter-attack. Bayern Munich, if both of these sides are at their best Bayern Munich are still streets ahead of Real Madrid in my opinion When we always talk about Real Madrid when they're not favourites we talk about game match winners, match changers Bayern Munich have got probably more match winners in their team than Real Madrid have So whichever way you want to look at this game there's no question this is Bayern Munich's to lose in my opinion because the way they're playing the chances they create every single game This is not a fluke.

38:02This is what they do. They've done it all season. And you look at Real Madrid, we're talking the complete opposite. We don't know what we're going to get from Real Madrid. There's no consistency. Yes, they've got talent. But when you play against a proper team in Bayern Munich, you're going to need more than a couple of pieces of individual brilliance. And that's why I've gone for Bayern as well. And what's our below's plan for Mr Alisi? Has he got one? Who's the incumbent coming in at Leve-Bac to try and stop arguably the hottest property and certainly the most informed player in European football at the moment?

38:40And don't forget that dynamic with that French front line. Looks like it's going to change now, possibly with the injury to Eketiki. So that's all going to shuffle around. We're talking about playing Alicia as a 10 and whatnot, but he is on fire right now. So, you know, he had his way with Carreras last week. and quite simply, if that happens again, you know, how are Bayern not going to score goals in this game? So yeah, there's a bunch of them they've got to stop. There's Diaz, it might be Musiala, it might be Harry Kane, but they've definitely got to stop this guy, otherwise it's curtains. Yeah, Frank, you're going for Lise and Bayern and not your friend Mbappe and Real Madrid.

39:18No, because from what I saw all season long and also in the first leg where clearly Real Madrid existed it because Bayern Munich allowed them to. But otherwise, before they got sloppy, Bayern Munich were so dominant that it could have been a real lesson for them. So I expect second leg.

39:44We're losing everybody tonight. Oh, no. Bayern Munich team finishing the job and all All the players that we know are good enough to finish the job at front. They are simply amazing. Olisi the first, of course. Yeah. OK. So let's talk about Mbappe because there's been a comment made by the CTA, the Technical Committee of Referees, about this. Remember the penalty that wasn't in the 88 minutes against Girona? Yes. Mbappe struck in the face by Vitor Reis. You see he was bleeding afterwards. The referee waves play on. VAR chose not to intervene. Arbeloa said it was a penalty here and on the moon.

40:23Well, the CTA have acknowledged that the challenge should have been a penalty, but they have defended the AR's decision not to overrule the on-field decision. Well, that doesn't make sense. Doesn't that just annoy Real Madrid even more now, if they're saying it should have been a penalty? Well, how can you say that? Two things can't be true here, surely. How can you say that? You can't, well, you can't if you're in Spain. You can't be saying, what is it, the CTA? Yeah. Whatever the hell they call it, I don't know, who cares? They can't be saying it's a penalty and then saying VR were correct, not to intervene.

41:03It's one or the other. Robbo, you were on the call for the game. Yeah, I called it as a no penalty, but Craig's absolutely right. It's in the box, so the VR is going to be looking at it. You don't have to go to the VR. The VR is looking at it, and he can say to the referee, it's a 50-50 here. do you want to have a look at it? But he obviously didn't do that and they say they were right not to do that but they then said it was a penalty it contradicts its own views so I don't get it at all but I wouldn't have given a penalty in the first place What's the worst line? It's a penalty but Vard did not get involved or respect the ball which one's the worst?

41:42Because they're both as daft as each other But I think this one's got to be more annoying for the fans right? For the Real Madrid fan Oh, they don't need much to get annoyed. You're just scratching your head. That doesn't make any sense to anybody. So what are you actually saying? They're not actually saying anything. It's either a penalty or it's not a penalty. And if you're telling it to a penalty, then VAR should have got involved. So how can you say... Yeah. You can't. It's obviously a big moment. She's daft. Well, if Real Madrid season hinges on a penalty against a Girona side, a Girona side that have struggled most a lot of the season.

42:22We're in the relegation zone. They've done a bit better recently. But if they're so desperate that they need that at home later on against Girona, that tells you where they are. They're not nine points behind Barcelona because they've had decisions against them. Let's see how they fare tomorrow. And they will be back in action in La Liga right here on ESPN Plus on April 21st against Alaves. Barcelona will be taking on Celta the following day. Quick time out. 45:07No fear pure fire That's it Me the first one Pure fire That's what I want to see On the players On the people On myself That's it Go for it Because the opportunity Is unbelievable We are in April We have an incredible Opportunity ahead of us Let's confront it Let's go for it By really putting Absolutely everything into it Can you give us An idea of Your overriding emotions Just now Is there Any worry Anxiety Or is it more Fire I'm on fire fire. That's it, nothing else. I've done so much to be in this position because I know how this club was. I've done so much against anything that this is beauty.

45:53I just see beauty, opportunity, and I want to get it done for all these people that have been in this journey with us and because they deserve it, because it's been unbelievable. That's what has driven me every single day. I have zero fear. Fear I had when, oh, if we don't get this done, this club, I don't know what it's going on. That was fear. Now, there's no fear. It's just purpose, fire, direction and conviction that we're going to do it. Are you seeing this fire in your players? Yes. Yes, big time. Zero fear, loads of fire. Team are playing me a lot of fear at the moment. I can see it. We need fire either.

46:30Somebody's better fire up. Yeah, there's a few ashes at the bottom. What did you think of what he had to say to you? He just keeps going giving, doesn't he? He just keeps on giving. How about you just try and act normal for once? Just be like a normal coach. What would a normal response have been? Well, just... Just don't come at... Like, when you start coming out with all these buzzwords and all this stuff, the reporters are sitting going, oh, brilliant, so they can get after them again. Now it's the same question that we've just been talking about. all the smart alley comments, the fire's out and the fire brigade's putting it out and the whole thing.

47:07Just be normal and just try and deflect any attention away from yourself. And it's coming out with stuff about other teams. Three years in a row in the quarterfinal is daily meal to other teams. Well, clearly it's the same for them. They've been there three years in a row, right? So that's normal for them. But what you've got to do now is take the other step forward. I just don't understand how he has to keep coming up with stuff that reporters they just feed off it. Just be a normal coach. Say something normal. We're gonna do our best 100 % as we always do. Don't give them anything. Just keep, he just keeps throwing them lines man.

47:48So this quite some time ago should have been a bit of a formality, sporting Lisbon. And it may be so. But this is a side that were woeful against Bournemouth at the weekend. They were woeful against Southampton, a championship team. They were horrendous in the Carabao Cup final against Man City. I mean, they sat in there like a pub team and allowed City to dominate the game. They didn't look like the team that were top of the league and the best team in England at the time. They looked like a scared side and it's been hard for them to get out of it. They've got playmakers who are either injured out of the team or not playing well.

48:28You've got Saka who's been out of the team but he wasn't playing well. You've got all these facets of the game that was rock solid that are not anymore. From attacking to Zubimendi and Rice in the middle of the park to their set pieces and all of that stuff. And anything other than a comfortable or anything other than a win and going through against Sporting Lisbon will be seen as nothing else than failure. They're not playing PSG or Bayern or even an off-color Real Madrid. They're not. They're playing the weakest team left in this competition. So that puts a pressure on Mikko Leteta. That puts a fear.

49:10He's lying. That's the fear for Mikko Leteta. The fear is that the way they're playing, there is a chance they might go out against the weakest side by far, the left. And no matter what he tells you, that's a fear that's gripping him at the moment, as is the fear that City are around the corner, that they're playing well, that Arsenal are not, and he has to find a way to somehow get this going again in a short period of time. And I think that's the big question we're all asking. Are they going to get it going again? And the players listening to that are not going to... He's sitting to him. Craig's just told you what they've been like the last three games.

49:45He's so sold us the fire door. He's just told the players they're on fire. I mean, the players are going to be sitting and listening to it because they'll hear all this and they'll be going, Gaffer's lost the plot, by the way. Who's he kidding? Is it fear or fire for you, Robbo? Fear, absolutely. And who puts the fear in the players? It's the manager. If you watch the performance against Bournemouth at the weekend, not by the players, not by the crowd who booed Arsenal off the pitch at half-time and at the end of the game. If you looked at the difference between Iriola on the side of the field giving information and being quite calm and when goals were scored, he wasn't jumping around like a lunatic.

50:20And then you watched Arteta's performance on the side of the field. It's embarrassing. He's giving the players the fear. He's giving the crowd the fear. He's jumping up and down. He's out the technical area, running up and down the touchline. Who's he doing it for? The players benefit? Because I don't think the players are listening. Is he doing it for the fans benefit? I don't think they're listening now. Or is he doing it for the owners? Or is he doing it for himself? I think he's doing it for himself more often than not. and he's the one that is producing over emotion from the players and too much fear.

50:49Frank? Yeah, I agree with that. I mean, sometimes you have to show and be the example of what you expect from the players. So being nervous doesn't help us. And definitely, you know, if you show Khan, if you like Ancelotti, at the time where he was the best, he was there. He knew exactly what to show to his players. And that's what I don't understand with Mikel Arteta. And after on the press conference, the guy is complaining about everything. He's saying stuff that, as Steve said, we don't get, you know, because don't talk like that. It doesn't help anybody. So just be calm in a way that you express to the player where you want to go.

51:35And what he wants to do is to make sure that everybody spots on in one goal and not on everything. and that's the problem with Mikel Arteta. I think he wants to please too many people. OK, let's take a look at the predictions of the panel ahead of that game tomorrow. That tie, Arsenal lead in 1-0. Everybody has got Arsenal going through and getting the job done on the night too. We'll be talking about it, of course, on tomorrow's ESPN FC. Be sure to be with us as we'll look back on that and the game between Bayern and Real Madrid.

52:09So this is reaction to the hair pull yesterday from Lissandro Martinez who was red carded for pulling the hair of Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the Manchester United-Leeds game Well here is Manchester United manager Michael Carrick on the matter The arm in the face of Lissandro that we start with he gets an arm in the face so he's kind of off balance and they're kind of off grappling he almost almost just goes to touch him and grab his shirt and he ends up catching his ear and touches the back of his ear and the bobble comes out and you get a red card for it. It's not aggressive, there's no jolt, there's no tug, there's no sudden movement.

52:42He kind of touches it and glances through it. Just got to be careful where the game's going if we give him red cards for that. But then you can do two arms in the face, the red card, and the first goal, and that's deemed all right. So it's a shocking decision, absolutely shocking decision. Lenny Ural gets a four-arm smash in the back of his ear I think it's worth looking again if you haven't seen that which I don't know if you're getting a sending off or what you're getting a sending off for I don't know how that doesn't get overturned as a goal it's a clear forearm smash on the side of his head so that first goal shouldn't stand The red card, I mean, I have to say that's really concerning if that's going to be a sending off I know he touched his hair, you can't deny he touched his hair there's a difference between touching somebody the way he has and brushed his hair to actually really aggressively tugging on it which certainly we've seen at certain points where there's a real kind of emphasis to.

53:36That's just, yeah, that's really concerning after so. Yeah, we were talking about this yesterday, weren't we, Stevie, where you do feel that it is harsh, but it is a red card. And just over on our website at the moment, ESPN Andy Davies says, following a new directive this season, there's a strict threshold whenever hair pulling occurs. It's seen as a non-football action. It's not acceptable within a typical challenge. So it must be deemed violent conduct and sanctioned with a red card. Yeah, referees, whether you think it's harsh, soft, you can come up with all the terms you want.

54:11But he's no question, he's got a hold of it. I mean, he hasn't brushed it. There's actually a point where there's a certain amount of time where he's actually held on. So he can't complain. And actually, he's complaining about Jorl. Well, if Jorl had attacked the ball, he wouldn't have ended up getting caught. Now, does he get caught? Yes. But if you're going to play against the centre-forward and challenge for a ball, then you better attack the ball. And don't stand there and jump straight up. Because it's a physical game and you're going to get caught. So don't complain about your role. Yes, I agree.

54:47If you're going to complain, you complain about the red card. You say it's soft. We all think it's soft. But at the end of the day, he's actually had the motion to pull his hair. And so the referee, going by the guidelines, it's a red card. But don't start complaining about things where actually the problem is your centre-back. He should attack the ball instead of standing waiting for it and jumping straight up. Maybe the next time Michael Carrick's team play Leeds or anybody else who's got a pretty physical front man, maybe you can ask them, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, maybe before the game, say, would you mind jumping with your arms at your side?

55:23Because he calls it a forearm smash. and any player, we saw an incident in the Barcelona game tonight with Gavi and was it Ruggieri, where unfortunately there was a fair bit of blood, but it wasn't an elbow, it was an arm when he was jumping, as was Calvert-Lew in the arm for the jump. He has got one of the better springs in the Premier League. And as for the pulling of the hair, if you challenge and look at the watch, so he's got momentum. to me he leads he leads with his arm but his arm is there this is the best angle his arm is there to propel him right and I go back to the hair one if you jump at the defender with an open palm right and not a closed closed palm closed fist with an open palm it's impossible to pull somebody's hair because somebody's gonna have to tell David Moyes and Michael Carrick and one or two other managers, because I'm referring to the Michael Keenan incident where he was sent off, and Davey Moyes seemed to be perplexed, is that it's a simple law of the game.

56:31You are not... I've seen it with Cucurella, and obviously there's some players that have got longer hair, much longer than others. So there is this temptation. But there can't be a temptation because the law says you cannot pull somebody's hair, whether it's aggressive or not. So Michael Carrick has absolutely no complaints. Once again, a manager talking about decisions when his team have been beaten, And haven't played well. Robbo. Well, the best thing that happened to Manchester United is that Lissandro Martinez got sent off. Because after that, they started to play well. They were 2-0 down at that point.

57:04They came back into the game. They started to create chances. That was the best they'd played after that. Yeah, I don't think he's got anything to complain about. The rules are the rules. And that was the case. When you lead with your arms, sometimes you're trying to protect a head-on-head collision. And that's exactly what Calvert-Lewin is doing. and he's propelling himself, but he's also stopping the head-on-head collision, which is the worst collision out of all. Forget the arm, it's the head-on-head collisions that cause the real, really bad injuries. It's obviously not a concern for yourself, are you, right now, Frank?

57:35But where are you on the hair pulling? Oh, that's... Oh, you. That's terrible. I knew it was coming. I knew it was coming. Rich Eisen here. We know we should be banned for any discussion about hair. But in a serious way, I really think that's only fair. I disagree with Michael Carrick. We can see and clearly see that Alessandro Martinez is looking for it. And he keeps on doing it. It's not like I pull and I take my hands off. No, my hand off, sorry. He keeps on doing it. So even when the cabot is moving and turning back. So that's clear. I think it's a good thing. You cannot use that. You cannot pull shirt.

1:00:04You cannot pull hair. So it's only fair for me. Okay. There we go. Everybody saying that's okay. Now that you've... Now that I've berated them. Given them a bit of a jib and a follically challenged pair. They can take it. You can try. They give as good as they get. And they'll be giving as good as they get on Extra Time. Make sure to check it out over on our YouTube channel. Craig and Steve will be answering your questions as well. Javier Mascherano is stepping down as head coach at Inter Miami, effective immediately. The club have cited personal reasons for his resignation, and he leaves along with his entire coaching staff.

1:00:39Remember, he led Miami to their first ever MLS Cup title in December, and he leaves the team third in the Eastern Conference. That's all we've got time for in the latest edition of ESPN FC. But stay right where you are. Extra time is on the way next. Robbo and Frank are sticking around to answer your questions. So, too, the Stevie and Craigsaw. We'll see you over there in just a minute. Where? Extra time. Right here. Here we are. Extra time. Extra time coming up tonight. Let me see if I've got the questions in my email. Oh, you do that. Let us know when you're ready. All right, maybe we can just bring them up on here and we'll tell you what they are.

1:01:17All right, thank you so much for sending in your questions. First up is John Norris. Frank, is PSG going to take the weekend off before every one of its Champions League matches? I don't know that. I mean, it's been sold out and accepted by the League One committee to have a week off, you know, before that game. And they should have played, I think, against Laos. And Laos were very happy because they wanted to take an opportunity to maybe beat Paris Saint-Germain to be close to them because I just remind you that they're second in the league last and they want to chase Paris Saint-Germain. I think even it's going to be hard, but I don't think it's going to be possible.

1:01:54I mean, the end of the season is getting crowded and every day it's complicated to change it and to postpone it. So I'm not sure they're going to have the possibility to do every time the thing that they've done this weekend. Aside from Stevie, was anyone watching the PSG match? yeah of course we were yeah we were watching it we had we had we had six screens with two games every screen so yeah we were watching this is so rich yeah Rob always watching it we couldn't have the commentary we only had yeah I was watching it I was watching it yeah I mean the Bassa game was certainly the start was more enthralling wasn't it but then as Liverpool became competitive yeah here is something about Liverpool and Stevie for all were you surprised by slots starting 11 and the performance that how Liverpool did an amazing performance maybe Liverpool lost because Stevie didn't have confidence as follows up my previous question last time see it's your fault Stevie it looks like it does yeah what about the rest of the season when I thought they would win but you're actually happy even though they lost about what you've seen from them today it seems the happiest yeah I mean as I said that the second half after about 65 minutes I was thinking you know if they get a goal here because they would they were I mean PSG were camped on the edge of the box.

1:03:19The start in 11 I thought Ingram Moore should have started and we saw when he came on the difference he made you know some passes some shots at goal just just he he in general lifts everything. Now at the end of the day the The front line that started wasn't particularly bad. If you want to put Verts in the team, then I get it that he supposedly starts on the left. You've got Ekitiki, sorry, on the right. You've got Ekitiki, who has to play. And Isak, you've got him available, although he didn't do a lot, and he's clearly not 100%. You're looking for something special, why not give it a go? But I thought Ingramor should have come on earlier.

1:04:04Okay. Frank, Simeone is the best manager in the world to get the best out of his players. Question mark. He's one of the best. And it's true that he knows how to put out the best of his players, you know, and asking them to play 100 % to give everything and to be ready to die for the club and the team that they play for. And that's true. And that you have to accept that. Maybe the tactic is not the best, maybe the way we see Atletico Madrid playing is not the best, but he knows how to give all the strength and the mentality for the players to give their best. And it's true, that's a fact, that's really a fact and he's been there for years now.

1:04:51Robbo, do you agree with that? He's developed a culture at the club, he knows exactly what he wants from his players, the players know what they want or he wants from them, the crowd know exactly what style of football they're going to get. is he the greatest manager to get the best out of his players I'd be interested to see if he went to somewhere like Barcelona and whether they would accept his style of play whether they would accept his antics on the side of the field I don't think they would he's a very very good manager at Atletico Madrid I'm not sure he's a great manager or would be a great manager somewhere else Craig, who's looking forward to an Atleti Arsenal semi-final?

1:05:26Yeah, but it might be listen it might be okay who knows I tell you what though Atleti are the more exciting team out of the two at the moment and that Even with all the vital fire Yeah That's where Arsenal are at the moment and Atleti are a dangerous team going forward Unfortunately for them they're a little dangerous to themselves at the back at times as well but talking about Atleti with that last question if Simeone's that great which listen that was a great result tonight how come once again they're a country mile off the title race in Spain I don't know Is that? No? Does that not count? It's come alive in the cup competitions this year.

1:06:05Is that what it is? Well, Copa del Rey, final, they're the favourites against Sociedad. And dare I say it, you could say they're the favourites against Arsenal at the moment, possibly. Would you look forward to that, Robbo, an Athlete Arsenal semi? I'll tell you what I'm not looking forward to. I'm doing the game tomorrow, Arsenal versus Sporting Lisbon. I'm not looking forward to that too much after the first leg. But I think the game would be different against Athlete. there'd be a lot of jeopardy on it. It would be exciting. It would probably not be great football, but it would be exciting and probably controversial.

1:06:39I think there'd be a lot of bookings and maybe a couple of red cards. The managers will probably have a fight on the touchline. It would be great. Yeah, all right. We'll see how it all plays out, if that's to be the case. All right, Stevie, Liverpool started both of their new strikers, both of their new attacking full-backs, their new attacking midfielder, and still couldn't score. Is this the fault of the players or the manager? No, this is the fault of the players. You know, I said earlier on the show that when they got to the final third, the decision-making and the actual pass or whatever it was they were trying to do wasn't close.

1:07:14It wasn't a millimetre of being perfect or a millimetre of somebody going through. They were miles off. And the slot can't pass the ball for players. he can take the blame for a lot of things when it comes from passing the ball five yards in the correct position at the correct weight to the correct foot Anasla can do that the players are the ones that do that and nobody today could do that properly you can't point a finger at Slott for that Robbo, on a previous extra time you said to Frank Leboeuf that if you're bald you grow a beard to compensate for no hair on top Is that the case for you? Absolutely, yeah.

1:08:01I sometimes want to put my head upside down, but I looked at Frank and I thought, Frank looks the business, he's a film star, he's great looking, all those sort of things. And I think, I want to be just like him. Unfortunately, I failed miserably. I know. Do we like the beard look on Robbo? What's his glasses? Yeah, you need the glasses. Frank, you can be the judge. Do we like Robbo's look with the beard? and know the glasses, I think. Yeah, I love it. I love it. It's funny because when you started the show, I wanted to see, you see, you see, we look like twins. Doppelganger. I was looking at when he was playing for Arsenal and when he had hair and really, I love him like that.

1:08:45You know, he looks better. He looks better. Nothing to complain about. I love you, Frank, as well. I think you're great. I appreciate it. He's just out of good, aren't you? all the fire and none of the fear I think you're great you're great mate you're great you deserve more than I do mate thank you so much guys for sending in your questions and thank you Robbo for putting those glasses on and just completing the look today we'll be back tomorrow with more Champions League talk
