0:34Welcome to the latest edition of ESPN FC. I'm Dan Thomas, joined by Shaka Hislop and Stevie Nichol. We are, of course, on the eve of the next round of matches of the Champions League. We are going bracket crazy later on in the show, but we'll kick things off in the FA Cup. West Ham taking on Bradford and this is Brentford. Almost got away all day without saying that. And it would be West Ham who would win on penalties in the end. They would take on Leeds in the next round elsewhere. Arsenal happy, I'm sure. They'll take on Southampton. Chelsea even happier. They play host to Port Vale. But the marquee tie, no doubt about it, Manchester City against Liverpool.
1:12For more on this, let's welcome in, shall we? Julianne Laurent joins us. We'll be hearing the Arsenal view in a moment. Mario will talk us through Chelsea. But let's start off, Nadem, with your Manchester City ways. Liverpool. Yeah, my Manchester City ways are very much active. And as I saw that draw, I was a bit disappointed, to be honest. when I saw Port Vale was available, I thought, you know, it'd be nice for City to get them another little layout to get to the next round. But unfortunately, it just wasn't to be. But I think in this, it makes for a fantastic game of football from two sides who, you know, come the end of the season, maybe that could be the only silverware that they have.
1:43So they will be going for it 100%. Obviously, with the context of the Champions League and stuff around it, yes, that is valid. But when those two sides play, especially something on the line, it should be a fantastic game of football, which is the exact opposite of what I wanted, Dan Thomas. Hey, that's what we want most definitely as a neutral, as Nadam says, is Liverpool's chance for a trophy this season? Yeah, and it's not the greatest of draws. I mean, they absolutely wouldn't have wanted Manchester City away from home. So, yeah, it's made it as tough as it would have been getting somebody else.
2:15It's made it even tougher that you're playing Man City away from home, who are actually on a really good run as well. So, yeah, it's not ideal for Liverpool, and it's certainly not ideal for City either. They won't be pleased. Meanwhile, Jules, it is absolutely ideal for Arsenal who have got some magic when it comes to the draws. Obviously, a lovely Champions League draw. And now away against Southampton. Yeah, back to back. I know Nadam is laughing. I can hear him. Back to back, OK. Away games against lower league teams. That's why they would have wanted to draw one of those teams. It would have been better at the Emirates, really to have been the maximum of the best of the best.
2:53But they will take that. A time with Southampton are much better than when they were under the previous manager, Will Steele. Now they're fighting to get to the playoff in the championship, so they will have that momentum as well. They will play a lot of games too, like Arsenal, maybe not as many, but still a lot of games still to be played for Southampton. But as we saw against Fulham, they played really well. They deserve to go through. They could have scored more goals even, so it won't be an easy trip. It's true. Don't pretend, Jules. I know, but it's true. They're a good team. Don't give us all that nonsense.
3:23Oh, boy. Mario. It's true, they're a good team. Chelsea have the best draw, obviously.
3:30Some things have to come to you sometimes. I got to tell you, look. They're the bottom of the league. League won. And they already had the beautiful moment of their life, what happened to them when they faced Sunderland. And now they got another one that is coming their way. It's Chelsea. And Chelsea now, if you look at the season, this is something you have to go after. It doesn't mean that you, OK, maybe winning it could be a big shot, But you have the opportunity to get to the final. So if you beat them, oh, you're on a nice run. Shaq? Yeah? Do you want to give us the West Ham spiel? Just happy to be there, I'll be honest with you.
4:09We're taking wherever we can get at this point. This just seems to be your motto in life, Shaq. Listen, you survive a penalty shootout against Brentford, given the former Brentford are in all season. You now have a home draw against Leeds. another team down in that relegation battle, as I mentioned. You're in great form. You absolutely take it. Right, of course. So we're going to do a bracket live over on the touchscreen with Shaka and Stevie. Oh boy. What could possibly go wrong with this? Who's in charge of this year? OK, I think we're going to try and do this together. They said, do you want to record it in a second? What could possibly go wrong? OK, Steve, we'll start with you.
6:01Round of 16. PSG against Chelsea. Arguably the hardest one to call. Yeah, but I'm just going to go with PSG. The experience that they've got. PSG will then face, obviously, Galatasaray or Liverpool. Yeah, listen. Liverpool aren't exactly flying, but they're going to beat Galatasaray. We'll just put it in now, yeah, Liverpool. Okay, Real Madrid against Manchester City. I'm going to go Manchester City. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely when you take a look at Real Madrid's form. Atalanta by Munich. I'm going to just put Bayern in, yeah? We've done that. Frisch-Basch get in there. Straight forward. Can you just touch the top right, please, Stevie?
6:39Are you in a hurry, Dan? Well, this is going to take a really long time. Newcastle, Barcelona. Barcelona. Okay, we'll press on Barcelona and then we'll do it that way. Yeah. Barcelona then. Atleti Spurs. Yeah right. Wow. Atleti Barcelona then quarterfinals. Bodo Glynn or Sporting?
7:03Bodo Glynn. Good. Excellent. Biot-Levacuiz and Arsenal. Bosh. Bishbash Bosh. Sorry Levacuiz. Let's go to this side then shall we? We'll do it this way. Barthel or Atleti then in the semifinals? Got to be. Barcelona? Yeah. Okay and they will face? Arsenal. Yep. Okay, meanwhile, the other end of things. Let's go this way. There we go. Perfect. PSG or Liverpool? Yeah, we've got to go PSG. You can press it. Big call. Manchester City, Bayern. Right. I'm going to go Bayern Munich. Okay. All right. No real surprises. Okay, to the semifinals we go. PSG or Bayern? I'm going to go with Bayern Munich. Okay, lovely thing.
7:44This is exciting. Good. Yep. Bayern. Yeah. Against?
7:51Arsenal. Okay, there we go. It'll be Arsenal against Bayern Munich in the final of the Champions League, according to Steve Nichol. Yep. And the winner will be?
8:01Bayern Munich. Hooray. Okay. Steve says Bayern Munich to win it. Right then, do you want to do that all again? Who wouldn't? Let's go to Xhaka. Watch out there, Steve. Go on, Jack. PSG. Xhaka will do all in. Professional. I'm going to go to Liverpool again. Yep. City yes by it I'm pretty much you see him as Steve in that regard yeah this side the brackets Barcelona oh where's the loyalty atleti supporting an arsenal yeah okay no way of press just press anyway just try it and see what right there we go I'll go PSG over Liverpool yeah I'll go by Bayern Munich over Manchester City. OK. So to the other side?
8:50This side? Yeah. There you go. I will go Barca over Atleti. I'll go Arsenal over Sporting. OK. And then... Yep. I will go Bayern Munich, Arsenal, OK. And Bayern. Yep. I'll go Bayern Munich to win it all. So the same as Stevie? He had Bodo Glimmt to win Sporting. OK, right, good. Thank you very much. Hope the sports, Emi, we people are watching. There we are. Look at that. Classic stuff. Now we're going to do it with everybody else who's on the show. Let's start off, shall we, with Jules. Let's take a look at Jules' bracket overall. He has got a final between Manchester City and Arsenal. I suppose a couple of big talking points considering your ways, Jules.
9:37First off, PSG to get knocked out by Chelsea. Yeah, I think the big difference here You could give it 50-50, 51-49, 52-48 Whatever you want I think the second leg at Stamford Bridge is significant And also the fact that the physicality that this Chelsea team has Especially in midfield Is everything that is lacking right now at PSG And why PSG are so far behind where they were last season For example, the injuries that they've had And the fact that Hakimi or Dembele are nowhere near the level as they were last season. At this stage, it's more that they don't have the intensity, they don't have the energy that they showed last season that they played with.
10:17And for this team to play in this kind of football, the Luis Enrique style, if you don't have that intensity, that energy, your press is not as efficient, your counter-pressing is not as efficient, your rotation with the ball are not as efficient and not as clinical, and then you'll suffer, especially against a very physical team like Chelsea. That's why I've got Chelsea to go through. I've got, apart from Spurs, who are rubbish as we know, I've got all the other English teams apart from Newcastle against Barcelona, but the other four to go through and to go far because I think Liverpool as well will do really well.
10:49So I think Arsenal and City is a good shot. OK, all right then. Mario, let's take a look at yours, shall we? And do you have Chelsea? Yeah, you've got PSG being Chelsea, Mario, but you love Chelsea. Yeah, no, definitely, of course. Yeah, but also reality. I feel like the speed they have and also the experience, what they have in their team, PSG, regardless if they're not performing the way they should be. But I still think when you do sometimes well in one season against a great team like Chelsea did against Barcelona, to do it again against PSG might be a little bit to ask. So that's what I go for.
11:26Then why are you moving forward? I don't want to go all the steps. Can I ask you about Real Madrid, Manchester City? You've got Real Madrid. I think you're the only one who's got Real Madrid going through. Why? Because, you know, I have seen City and sometimes they look unstable. You know, like you can have a great game and then sometimes they can go missing. And that's why I feel like the speed and the attacking side of Madrid could really be something that makes it very difficult. And I think sometimes they can get fine holes there. And I think that's why Real Madrid will might overtake them.
12:03And then who have you got? Have you got Bayern winning it? Yeah, my friend. Mario. Yeah, Mario, yes. Okay, yeah, I got Bayern winning it. I'm like Stevie, I'm like, oh, Xhaka said Bayern too. You know why? They're already first in the league. They're 11 points away from Dortmund. So their main focus does not have to be on their own league anymore, as much as all the others have it. So like Barcelona has it, Madrid has it, Arsenal has it. No, they can take a little step back and say like, let's go for the Champions League. So that's why I picked them too because I know when I had my time for the Champions League, sometimes if you create the gap, the focus comes slightly different.
12:50Naidem, how much are you loving life at the moment? Oh, I'm having a whale of a time. To be down in London, it's terrific. But yeah, are you going to do my bracket or what, Dan? Are we going? All right then, don't get Mardy. Right, let's take a look at Nadem's bracket. He has got Manchester City going through against Real Madrid. You got Chelsea over PSG as well, Nadem. Yeah, so what I've noticed through being last in these bracket situations, Stevie's got Liverpool going out early, Jules has got PSG going out early, Mardy's got Chelsea going out early and I've got City going out as well. Look at us just hedging against our own teams that we support.
13:26But anyway, this is how I see it. I think there'll be some good sides in there, but it's tough to bet against Bayern and Arsenal making it to the final, given how, in this moment, they feel like the two best sides in Europe. And I'm sure they'll be able to handle pretty much any game across two legs. And then when that final comes, I suppose it just essentially is going to be a toss for coin, isn't it? I think so. Are we doing anything else on this? OK, thank you very much, guys. Thank you for the brackets. Let's just check out all the fixtures, shall we, that are coming up. Remember, there are early games as well in the Champions League.
13:56Galatasaray against Liverpool is the early... Don't forget that, Stevie. How early are we talking? It's not like 7am. I'm alright then. I think it's like... As long as it's after midday, I'm alright. Yeah, it's after midday. It's okay. And then Wednesday, Bayer Leverkusen against Arsenal, of course PSG against Chelsea, Real Madrid against Manchester City will be all played at the same time. We'll say thank you very much to Nader. Much appreciated for his input. Smalls here, look, I get it. GLP-1 weight loss shots are popular. They're everywhere. But not everyone is thrilled about weekly injections.

16:29Andy Robertson lining one up and striking it with purity to give Liverpool the lead. The goal was, you know, probably rare. I've not had many of them in my Liverpool career. The ball came to me and I just thought that it was a perfect time to go and do it and thankfully it was a good strike. Still Curtis Jones. And that is three. Liverpool advance into the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. Welcome to Field Mill for the first of today's three fifth round FA Cup ties between League One Mansfield and the current Premier League leaders, Arsenal. Madueke steers it into the top corner. Salmon, wayward seized upon by Will Evans.
17:08Chance here to Evans and he's taken it. And the stags of Mansfield are level. Eze. Eze! Crisp and clean as you like. That looked to me like a man that was possessed. What a finish. Holy spirit, 100%. And it is Arsenal who progress. Welcome to the Stoke racecourse. Wrexham against illustrious opposition in Chelsea. Long ball over the top, can he get there? And Smith has dispatched it beautifully. Garnaccio is on it, and Garnaccio sees his shot off the line, but then back in off the goalkeeper. Repelled, the follow-up shot takes a reflection and in! Wrexham in front again! Neto helping it on, Achenpuk again there and scores!
17:52A second equaliser for Chelsea. The referee's whistle signals extra time here. Good cross from a two-goal hole! Garnaccio stealing in to put it away. Chelsea have their first lead of the night. Another flick, oh! And there is the equaliser! Yeah, he's offside. Confirmed. No equaliser. I think the chant was, B.A.R. João Pedro has a long room to roam here. João Pedro going himself and finishing it finally as a contest. It's Chelsea who move on. And so for the fifth time this season Newcastle United take on Manchester City. This time for a place in the last eight of the FA Cup. And Arley spreads it through to Harvey Barnes.
18:37The flag is down at the moment. Harvey Barnes puts it in the net. Doku did brilliantly. and Savino puts it over the line. It's 1-1. Savino, nice ball, whipped across. Mahmoud, Manchester City lead. Matthias Nunez, Omar Mahmoud. Brilliant goal. Manchester City have three and they have one foot in the quarterfinals. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. What were you sorry for? The folk how good we were playing. And Pep Guardiola's Manchester City booked their place in the FA Cup quarterfinal. Welcome to Craven Cottage, Fulham of the Premier League and Southampton from the Championship. Opportunity here for Southampton at the very end and they appeal for a penalty and they've got one in the 90th minute and Southampton have a chance to win this tie.
19:29It's Ross Stewart, sheer power. It is Southampton who marks through to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. Welcome to Vale Park for this Emirates FA Cup fifth round tie between League One strugglers Port Vale and Sunderland. Wayne didn't get it first time, he did second! To be honest with you, I didn't even clock it was the quarterfinals we got into. Marooned at the bottom of League One, they are currently feeling on top of the world, having knocked out Premier League Sutton.
20:11Welcome to Elland Road for this Emirates FA Cup fifth round tie between Leeds United of the Premier League and Norwich City from the Championship. Looked back by Goverton, long snap, brilliant goal, beautifully taken. Well, not dealt with, Goodman's side. The Great Titans. The road has been cleared for him. Can they finish it in style? They can. Well, a job very, very well done by Leeds United. And for the first time in nearly a quarter of a century, they are in the last eight of the FA Cup. Welcome to the London Stadium for this Emirates FA Cup fifth round. East meets West London derby between two Premier League sides, West Ham United and Brentford.
20:52Hernandez, good looking cross, the header down and front in home. The Hammers in front. Watara, good shift from him and the cross up the grabs and a deflection takes it in. West Ham pounce here with Adama Traore. Was he fouled? That will be a penalty. Jared Bowen for his second and West Ham's second of the night. Makes it look so simple. And the East End boys are back on top. Wattara has continued his run, has options here. Oh, and was that a nudge in the back? Referee has given the penalty. It was. It's Thiago. Definitive. But it is going to require penalties here at the London Stadium. Dango Ibarra for Brentford.
21:35Ta-da. Oh, right down the middle. He went for the Penenka. And Areola gets right. West Ham have a chance to win it with the next kick. And he put West Ham into the quarterfinals. Yes, he can. Pure delight for the Hammers. They've made their first quarterfinal in a decade. Watching someone close go through loss really changes your perspective. The referee is sent to the monitor here to see whether or not it's a pen. As he gets the monitor, it is blank because one of the home supporters has gone down and cut the wire. So it's impossible for him to see it. He was then told that it was a penalty.

24:42Oh, it wasn't even a penalty. It wasn't even a penalty. The idiot. The idiot thought he'd be close. You see? That's crazy. The idiot thought he was being clever and it cost him a penalty. But then keep an eye on the goalkeeper throughout this whole melee because he's the one who started it.
25:18Get ready. Here he comes. Oh, they cut it. Why did they cut it there? He gets shoved right into the post. That kicks everything off, basically, in this final. 23 players would be sent off. Cruisero will go on to win it, but Hulk's involved as well. How does MD win the game? Well, Cruisero, they were 1-0 up, so therefore... They'd say they're just a killer. There was 30 seconds to go in the game. There wasn't much, so it was right at the death. Beg your pardon. Yes, some ugly scenes there in Brazil. Coolies. What are you planning to call in here for? He is a shock. Speaking of ugly scenes, Mario and Jules are back for Extra Time.
25:56Yay! Stay with us.
26:02Welcome in to the latest edition of Extra Time. We just showed there that big melee in Brazil at the end of the game where we saw 23 players sent off. Mario, were you ever involved in anything like that? No, no, no. I've never been in a situation like that. Because I think, you know, at a time when we were playing, no, I think the refs would come in and, you know, people, no, no, never had it. On training, yes, of course, everybody's been in that situation. But on the field, no, I never had it in the game. What do you mean everyone's been in that situation in training, Mario? What a big brawl like that.
26:36No, but not like that. But, Dan, you have to understand, sometimes in training, when the passion goes, and you play the game, I'll give you an example. For example, at Ajax, they like to say to you, you've got to train the way you play. So sometimes we had training sessions and it was like literally playing a game. And I came from school and then in the beginning, especially, they were teaching me like, hey, you've got to step up your game, man, because if you don't do that, you will have a problem. And literally, I come in a team that literally won the Champions League the year before. So trust me, I was tackling because I had to.
27:08Yeah, kicking off there. We were covering the West Ham against Brentford FA Cup game. Penalty shootout saw one penalty miss, of course. This was Mario's reaction to that match as he was watching it.
27:26You guys always get me. Which one was it? Just the disgust, the attempt of the Panenka. Speaking of FA Cup, Arsenal, of course, away against Southampton in the quarterfinals, which leads us to the first question. Why do Arsenal keep getting so lucky in cup draws, Jules? I think it's the first time in a very long time that they get lucky and that's just the way it goes for you. Usually we've seen Manchester City being very lucky in recent years, especially in domestic cups. Not so much this season, especially with that quarterfinal draw against Liverpool, although they'd be at home, but still it's the worst one they could have probably got.
28:07So I don't know. I don't think that Arsenal are particularly lucky with the draw. I mean, the season they are, but in previous season they haven't been, so, you know, things haven't been up, really. I can't believe you got a plaque made that you won our fantasy Premier League league. It's not me! I told you last time. What is wrong with you? Because you mentioned, I mean, I don't like to mention it, but as you're mentioning it, I could not even see you in those rankings. I don't know where you were. You must have been really low of all the participants. And let's see, where is Jules? Oh yeah, not even the top 20 Jules, it seems to be saying.
28:44Who made it? So there you are. No, I think I am. I think I am top 20 already. Who made it? Say again. Him, he. He ordered it from Amazon. It's like those trophies you can just get for yourself. It's sad. That's not true.
29:01So you can follow Jules, of course, for tips on the fantasy, to see but you could also follow Jules on Newcastle train journeys which you did this weekend how long does it take then take the new the train from Newcastle to London Jules and why didn't you drive it's a great question it took uh three hours and 45 minutes which is far too long I thought I hadn't been to Newcastle for a long time I know Chaka used to take his private jet to go from Newcastle to London to go shopping at Harrods I don't have a private jet it was either driving five or six side or whatever it is or taking the train. I thought I'd take the train.
29:36We stopped in places that I didn't even know existed in England. I'd never even heard the name of it. But it's good for my geography. It's a good train journey. I've taken that train journey. Check out when it's there last. What's he learning about? I don't know where he's learning about. He can work on his fantasy team. Win one fantasy league and all of a sudden glory's gone to his head. Which manager feels a stronger line-up for the FA Cup? Of course it will be Manchester the City against Liverpool. Do you think they'll both go full strength, Mario? Yeah, yes, because I think for both managers, if you look at the game, if you can win, Slot, he's in the situation of winning the league anymore, so the Ever Cup is important for him.
30:18And Guardiola, just the mindset of Guardiola, I want to win everything. So his mindset has always been about that. Slot is similar, but he's not in that situation where Guardiola is. So I think they will definitely put the strongest one, because Because winning the FA Cup, everybody knows the history of it. When you win the FA Cup, when I had it the first time, I couldn't believe how the country reacted to it. So definitely they won it. Mario, could Chelsea win the FA Cup?
30:45It's a big shout for me to say yes. But you know what the thing is, in cups, then the day of the game, when you bring it up, you can always surprise somebody. So I will not say no, but I also will not say yes. You could say yes. You've got Port Vale. That's a lay-up. Through into the semi-finals, get a nice draw. I say yes, my friend. Of course. Yeah, of course. I agree 100 % with you. 100%. Stevie Pochettino's... No, Xhaka, stop it. 100%. Stevie Pochettino's link to Real Madrid. Are you surprised that they're considering him giving his recent track record? Yes. Yeah, I'm not quite sure where...
31:26I'm not sure why. where did that come from any idea ESPN FC sources oh must be true then well let's not diminish the ESPN FC sources I'm surprised at that I wouldn't have thought Pochettino would have been at the head of the queue for the Real Madrid job yeah Stevie's right isn't it a bit of a head scratcher Jules yes I mean yes I know I can really understand that his track record recently at Chelsea even at PSG before that wasn't great. He's always been, Florentino Perez has always liked him since his years at Espanyol. He's always been in those kind of shortlist or close to the shortlist. I don't know if he will be top of it, but he will certainly be in the conversation.
32:11I would not be surprised if he's part of that process. He might not get it in the end, but yeah, Florentino has always been a big fan and I think Poch mentioned that even publicly in interviews. I think the Real Madrid job, obviously, like for any manager, it would be a dream for him. So the interesting thing is if he gets offered the Real Madrid job and the Spurs job, where will he go? Where does he choose to go? Because he's also quite keen on coming back to Spurs. Why would he want to go and manage in the championship, Jules? Oh, boy. At Dav Thomas. That's a very good question, Dan. A very good question.
32:47Herc is really not happy about this rumour, by the way. He says he's lost for words because obviously this could be a distraction for Pochettino leading the US into the final of the World Cup. It's not. Everybody's accepted Pochettino is not going to be the manager of the US team after the World Cup. So I don't know why, even if it were announced or confirmed beforehand, it's any less or more of a distraction. Oh. Apparently he's going to be at the Athletic Madrid Tottenham Hotspur game. Mauricio Pochettino. The Hurts timeline's got lots of things on. There we are. Who's he seeing there? Oh, Johnny thingy.
33:23Johnny Cardoso. Cardoso. There we are. Stevie, would you like to add anything? Maybe since I suppose. Sorry. Yes, exactly. Just seeing how bad they are. Jules, with Ligue 1 actually having a title race this season, is this more about teams closing the gap or PSG having a down year in the league?
33:44That's a good question. I think Launce have been outstanding this year. It's helped by the fact that they're not in Europe, for example. They can focus only on the league. they've got a great young manager they've got a great squad with a mix of everything youth, experience talent, technical ability, physicality, everything really they are a fantastic team, they've been the best team so far this season, but they are there also, just to point behind PSG because PSG have been underperforming, we've said that through the whole season so it's those years where PSG don't win it and it's quite rare but the Monaco year, the Lille year, the Montpellier year, it's years when PSG were not at their best and where one outstanding team amongst the rest was able to have this fantastic season.
34:26So, Lens are very much that and there will be a Lens-PhD game in three weeks' time now. So, we'll have a better idea by then. But I wouldn't be surprised if Lens, who are still, by the way, also in the semi-final of the French Cup, if they were going for the double. I like this question. To get to the top level, you've had to be very competitive and have huge will to win. Since you're retired, where do you guys channel those competitive urges? I hear Stevie is a Mario Kart demon. You're still massively competitive. I played pool with you and you got proper angry. Yeah. Calm down. I have calmed down.
35:05Yeah, that was the first time since probably I finished coaching where I got really angry. Yeah. Yeah. But you're almost angry at yourself for getting angry. Why you got angry? Because he was losing. Really? Yeah. Yeah, I lost the play. I know you had that effect just generally. I know, I know. On everybody, whether they're competitive or not, you've got that effect. Beating by me. Yeah, that's right. I'd get angry about that too. It didn't help me with the opposition. But with anything, like Eleanor says, even with family games, stuff like that, you want to win. Aye. Well, it doesn't matter whether it's cards, playing at the back, whatever it is, they all gang up on me because they know how irritated it'll make me if I don't win.
35:50Yeah, yeah. So it doesn't matter what it is, they all gang up and they hope I get beat. Shaka, do you still carry that competitive edge? No. The family would say that? Like, family games night, you don't care? I don't... No. Look at me, Dan. No, I believe you. Yeah. I get Steve just thinking about what happened. Mario, I can't imagine Mario being too aggressively competitive either. No, I mean, look, if you play a little bit of football with some of the boys, you want to win. But no, like the competitive side, what I had as a pro, I don't have it now, you understand? And yeah, I train myself, you know what I'm saying?
36:28You run it out, you sweat it out, you're cool. No, I'm not, no, I don't even want to do it because sometimes you play against people and the way they play against you, we talked about the Champions League, They give me the feeling like I'm playing Champions League. So I'm like, no, I pass. So no, the competition doesn't go that high anymore like it used to. Me and Craig almost got my son and his wife divorced. We were playing them at Beerpont. Yep. And we just started winding them up because they were beating us easy. And we started winding them up and cheating, basically. Right. And the two of them ended up fighting and weren't speaking by the end of the night.
37:02Lovely. Ah, the Craig Burley effect. I mean, we were a little older, but at the time, we were just too busy trying to do what we could to win. I will also add, that's the reason I don't play football. I do not, because you think you can do it like you once did, and that gets me upset. That gets me really angry. You can't, right? Mine thinks so, but you can't. So I do not touch a footballer anymore. The other story I'll tell you were there when we did the cruise. Yes. And we had a volleyball game against the staff of the cruise ship. Okay. So the staff of the cruise ship have this volleyball team that they play against guests and, you know, it's supposed to be fun and they always win or they say they've never lost.
37:53And then we had this one cruise, Super Bowl and C, bunch of soccer players, bunch of American football players. Yes. And we just kind of mess around the pool. We're going to play against them. Yep. So we just kind of play in the pool. and then they introduce somebody goes at a mic and introduces the team from the cruise ship and they all come and do a flip and do some fancy stuff and we in the other end of the pool and it just goes dead quiet because it's all former professional athletes yes and you just know what's coming and we just start smashing the ball at them and they didn't know what was coming and And that just kind of feeds into, you never really, you don't mind losing, but don't, don't make fun of us.
38:34Or don't kind of show off. And that kind of got everybody going. I like this edge of shock. When I was still playing, we took the kids on holiday. And you know when you're down the beach or at the hotel and everybody joins in? Yep. Honestly, playing volleyball. I used to just walk off. I just I couldn't stand it which part well people people couldn't serve they couldn't actually hit the ball from the back of the court over the net and they would hit if you were lucky it would actually hit the net and then they would go like I'd be like that
39:14hey hey Stevie doesn't like all that stuff man he wants the serious stuff dad he wants the serious stuff I know I know hey you know you know what I also don't like Like when Stevie tells that, you know, sometimes you're at home, you play against someone then, and before you start the game, they already say that you see it, the way they behave, they don't care if they lose. B, I cannot play against you. If you do that to me, if you say to me, like, I had it with my homies, she goes, we play Monopoly, she goes, I don't mind if you win. I go, why are you sitting in front of me on the table? We're going to play to win, then we have a competition.
39:51If no, we don't have to play. She says, okay, we play like how you want to play. I go like, no, man. It's crazy. We started this conversation. How would you play a game with me and you don't want to win? Being so relaxed. I don't know. Bother the fan anymore. He's like, play Monopoly properly. Give me more rent. Give me more rent.
40:14Buy more houses. Put hotels on it. Come on. Jules, you're competitive, aren't you? Yeah. Jules definitely. Didn't he throw you down? Yeah, he elbowed me the most, running up the old dudes. Yeah, I know, back in the day in Qatar. You actually, because you didn't want to lose, you actually cheated and pushed me. Yeah, I'm still, probably because I'm maybe a bit younger too, but even when I play here in London, seven aside, nine aside, I'm too demanding with the other players who maybe have not the same ability. so I need to try to learn from the guys how to like... Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hey, I'm coming to London, Jules.
40:54I want to see your skills. I want to see your skills. I'm coming to London. Trust me, I'll be in London very soon. I want to watch your skills then. If he's telling me I'm going to be the referee for you guys, I'm going to watch you. Wow, no problem. I'm going to come and play, Jules. Jules throw shade everywhere. You know why I'm playing in Qatar? Number one, probably because I'm a bit younger than you.
41:20But what about just normal things with your kids, Jules, like a Monopoly game? Are you OK? Yeah, yeah, I'm much better now than I was like 10 years ago. I can let them win. He's fighting his kids. That's an age to everyone. They were four. Final question for all, including Dan, the five of you have attractive accents. Did you guys ever use that to your advantage to get dates? I have a feeling this question is directed at one person and one person alone. Denise gets so angry. She gets so angry at people because they're like, oh my god, I love your accent. Where are you from? And then she's like, what do they have to tell you all the time?
42:08Like you go Dunkin Donuts, I've put in a free donut for you. I love your accent. When did you take Denise to Wales? That's a great accent. Well, that's not Denise. Denise is an American. But no, people, it's like that scene from Love Actually, but it gets you into... It gets you into it. It gets you into it. It gets you, yeah. Yeah, all right. Jules, but the French accent, how is that dealt with in England? Yeah, all I would say, it works really well. And what is the question? Oh, my God. Can we clip that off and send that to me? You know that advert for that beer? Modelo. It should be Jules. This man.
43:00This man can play Monopoly. This man. This man has standards in soccer that nobody on the planet can exist beside him. Oh, dear. When did Modelo get away?
43:16Wow. Oh my God. Well, Tom, just brilliant analysis for Mario today. Much appreciated. We're going to film Monopoly now. Live stream a game of that for Mario. It's the best game ever. I'm not going to take it seriously. We will be back tomorrow to reflect on Champions League action. Of course, four big games tomorrow, including what Liverpool Galatasaray is, Stevie? Oh boy. Oh boy, Stevie. Very confident.
43:59We'll see you next time.
