In short

The episode is an ESPN FC match-review and debate show focused mainly on Liverpool’s Premier League loss to Brentford at the G-Tech Stadium. Hosts Alexis Younes, Stevie Nichol, and Ale Moreno discuss why Liverpool are struggling: they concede early, lose duels and “fight balls,” lack defensive organization and “juice,” and make ineffective tactical changes (including Soboslai shifting positions).

Key claims

Liverpool have lost their “fear factor,” time to gel isn’t fixing the same repeated mistakes, and only Soboslai (and goalkeeper Marmadashvili) are consistently performing.

Notable examples

Liverpool’s back line “shambles,” Salah scoring but still conceding a penalty via late/poor defending by Virgil van Dijk; Brentford celebrating as a cohesive unit while Liverpool look chaotic and unstructured. Don Hutchison joins to add analysis.

Guest backgrounds

Don Hutchison is a former professional footballer and analyst; Stevie Nichol and Ale Moreno are football pundits/analysts. The episode also briefly covers Man United beating Brighton, Chelsea losing to Sunderland, and El Clásico pre-match talk (Xabi Alonso, Lamine Yamal, and Ivan Rakitić via interview).

0:34Hello everyone and welcome to a new edition of ESPN FC. I'm Alexis Younes back in the hot seat alongside Stevie Nichol and Ale Moreno. Ale, do you feel a bit of stress in the air? I don't want to point a finger, but somebody is barely hanging on. Somebody is turning red as we speak and let's show you why. This is why. Oh no, Liverpool. I was red before we started. Straight lost in the Premier League going down at the G-Tech Stadium to Brentford. Liverpool, of course, dominating the likes of possession. But in the end, Brentford managed to hold off a bit of an attack. Kirk is getting a goal in this one as well as Mo Salah.

1:14But it is the Brentford B's that get the win. And let's welcome in our Don Hutchison to look back on this one. But Don, I'm going to ignore that smile on your face because we are very concerned here in studio. It's been a while since I've seen Stevie Nichol this stressed, this red. Stevie, I'm surprised you've been mustering up a smile. You've got a smile, haven't you? Even Ali looked at me and said, let's just leave him, let's just leave him. But Stevie, what's going wrong now? How do you explain what we just saw? I'll be honest with you, I'm absolutely shell-shocked. And I'm not shell-shocked because Liverpool lost a game, because you can always lose a game.

1:49But it's the manner in which Liverpool are losing games. You know, we talked about how it was going to be a matter of time for everybody to settle in and get to know each other. It was a matter of time when they would actually start playing their football. Well, it seems to have gone past that. Now, there's a huge problem. There's a real problem. because there is absolutely nothing, again, about this Liverpool performance that would suggest that it's going to get any better. Again, the back line was a complete shambles. Again, the changes that were made. Sobislai ends up going from midfield back to right back again.

2:35You take the left-back Kerkhev's off. You're shuffling about the middle of the park. We're getting nothing from the front players. I mean, this is just game after game after game. The same things, the same mistakes, the same changes that don't make any difference whatsoever. And if I'm shell-shocked, I'm sure I'm a lot shell-shocked because he'll be sitting thinking, what do I do that I haven't done? And I don't think there's anything else he can do that he hasn't already done. You know, yes, the coach takes the blame when the side's losing, it's not playing well. We always point towards the coach.

3:18He's the leader. He's the guy that has to sort it out. He's the guy that has to figure out how to put the pieces of the puzzle together in order to make it work. Well, he's not doing that. Not this season. It's not happening for him whatsoever. But I do have to say that a huge, huge part of the problem has to be down to the players as individuals because with the talent they have on the field the players 100 are not doing themselves justice around the slot any justice at all and again the worrying thing is it does not look like it's changing anytime soon don are you just as shell shocked as stevie i am and i'm i'm like stevie i'm very reluctant to sort of put all the blame on the manager's door.

4:04But what I will do is I would love to know from Arnaud Slott why he took Florian Verts off for Joe Gomez when he needed a couple of goals late on in the game. Now, that's a manager that's just searching. He's struggling. Also, if you go back a couple of weeks, the Chelsea game where Liverpool lost that game late on, they were poor in the game. And then I saw nothing from that performance in the Chelsea game from the start in 11 that told me that exact same start in 11 should start against Man United. I don't know what he's seen in the Chelsea game to think, well, that was a good performance. They played really well.

4:34I'm going to go in the same 11. So I'm starting to look a little bit to Arna Slott to try and get this team out of trouble. Now, when you go back onto the players, the players are weak. You know, I'm looking at the Liverpool players in fullback areas and they're not, they're losing duels. They're not doing the basics. The template's now been set, I think, from Crystal Palace a few weeks ago when Liverpool should have been 5-0 down at half-time. That was the team I more or less expected Arna Slott to play tonight. I would have probably preferred to see Andy Robertson off the back of the Eintracht game to start, but that's picking hairs.

5:06Kirk has scored, so he'll get a bit of confidence from that. But the template was set when Crystal Palace walloped Liverpool a few weeks ago. He should have been five and up at half-time. Everyone now, including Brentford today, has showed how to beat Liverpool. You make them don't do the basics. They can't win any fight balls. Apart from Sir Bosler, who was Liverpool's best player by a mile today, no one really had any fight in them. Every time the ball got flipped over the top, Liverpool were in trouble. Canate seems to have gone backwards. There's a whole load of problems when you look at the last couple of weeks for Arnaz Lott to try and figure out.

5:39And as Stevie said, it's perplexing because on paper, they're a good side, but they're not producing and they've got no fight about them whatsoever. Ale, you were nodding your head when Stevie said the fact that for the last couple of weeks, we've kind of just been chalking down Liverpool's problems to look, they have a couple new faces. It needs time to gel. But now it's looking like this is a real concern that time is not going to fix. Yeah. And I think if you break this game down into phases of the match and you go to the initial part of the match and Liverpool once again allow an early goal.

6:13So whatever momentum you had from the match against Antark Frankfurt, now that momentum disappears because you're chasing once again. What was interesting to see in that early part of the game is that Brentford had a decision to make is usually because you fear and respect Liverpool, you take a step back and you become conservative. If you're Brentford, you go on the counter when you can and you try to see the game out that way. But because Liverpool could not sustain that pressure on top of Brentford, we're not creating many opportunities themselves, Brentford kind of took an advantage of that and realized, you know what, if we keep the ball, If we turn Liverpool around, if we get on the attack, actually, we're the ones that are going to create chances at home.

6:59So that element of fear and respect of Liverpool, I think, is disappearing game by game by game to the point to where later in the first half, instead of being Liverpool chasing to go and try to tie the game up, it was actually Brentford that looked more likely to score a second, which they did. Here's the second phase of the match that actually I think is even more concerning for Liverpool. They get a game, a goal, out of all people, Curtis. You're thinking, if indeed you're Liverpool, if indeed you're the defending champion, if indeed you're the team that we think you are, that come the second half, here we go Liverpool all over Brentford.

7:37The late show again. And, well, it didn't even need to be the late show. What we saw is no show at all. Ten minutes in, we're having the discussion, Stevie and I as we're watching the game, Liverpool haven't even attacked Brentford. It's all been Brentford looking like they're going to score a third goal. It's looking like Brentford, like they're going to score a fourth goal. They scored the third, should have scored a fourth on an open header. And that, I think, takes me to the third phase of the match, if you're Liverpool. That, again, becomes even more concerning. There's no juice in this team right now.

8:12There is no special sauce. You look at the behavior of Brentford when they blocked the shot from Mohamed Salah and the sliding challenge of Van den Beeren as well as Collins. And they clear the ball, clear the danger, and they're all celebrating and sort of kind of supporting each other and giving each other a high five. And they're excited to be around each other. Virgin Van Dyke could not be less excited to be playing alongside Kirkus. And you see it every time that Kirkus plays a ball back, Van Dyke is like, You got to be kidding me. And that, I think, tells you the difference between a team in Brentford that today felt like they had juice, like they had the special sauce, and Liverpool, no chance.

8:55They have no juice. They have no special sauce. You put those three faces together, that's why you have the struggles that we saw today again. And, you know, that's why I'm a little forgiven of Arnest Lott because when you don't see that start to the second half that we expect, if you're on the slot, you've got to make changes. You know, there wasn't a player on the field in the second half who was doing anything different pretty much to what he did in the first half. Liverpool had possession in the first half, but just couldn't break them down. Never looked like breaking them down. but again we thought start the second half will come out and they'll start controlling and pushing Brentford back but it just never materialised and so if you're on the slot you've got no choice but to make changes because there's nobody on the field telling you that I need to stay here or I'm going to do anything and so part of that chaos is forced upon on the slot it's forced to make all these changes and at the end of the game when they lose and they lose the way they did, it looks like a schoolboy team that, you know, just get him on, pull him there, you go there, you go there.

10:10Slobis like playing three different spots today in one game, again. But Arne Slott's got no choice because nobody, nobody is performing for him at all, apart from maybe Slobis like the goalkeeper. The rest just are not of the races at all. It's very damning to hear you say that, of course, when Liverpool are looking for that spark, looking for something special in this game. You say you're looking around and there's nobody in there that's really putting up their hand. And this is a team that has Mo Salah. The penalty sums up what Liverpool are right now. You've got your so-called leader, your so-called best defender in the world, who's given a penalty away on the edge of the box on a ball where he's so late trying to clear it and he's trying to kick it.

10:57I mean, it's such a horrible piece of defending from a guy who we know can be so good. But it's like a disease. It's spreading around the whole team. Other than the two guys I said. Sobis Lion and the goalkeeper, Marmadaus Feely. And to that point of Virgil van Dijk, if you're going to be raising your arms every time that you're unhappy with Kirkus, you cannot give up the penalty in the manner that you did. Right? You can't point the finger over there and then not be doing your job over here. And that's when I think this team is in real trouble, because it was Virgil van Dijk that told us, no, well, we had a players-only meeting.

11:32We cleared the air. We told ourselves the things that we needed to tell ourselves. And so you want to see evidence of that. You want to see momentum to build from what was an impressive performance away against Eintracht Frankfurt. You think, well, we turned the corner, and then you give up a goal four minutes in. So, yeah, house of cards right now, Liverpool. This whole idea that you've turned the corner, that you're building momentum, it was always going to be about this game against Brentford, and they came up short. Don, what do you think about what the guys are saying, especially the fact that Ale said that Liverpool, one of the most damning things, is that they've lost that fear factor, which is absolutely bonkers to think, considering these are the current reigning Premier League champions.

12:12They have players like Mo Salah, they have players like Virgil van Dijk as well, but everyone is looking at them now going, we can have a go. Yeah, but the boys are correct. so that their eyes don't lie, Alexis. I mean, like, the players are underperforming, but they're not even battling to try and get themselves out of trouble. Sometimes when you lose the amount of games and confidence gets deflated, sometimes what you've got to do is you've got to go back to basics and you say, right, let's dig in today. In the worst-case scenario, we get a nil-nil against Brentford and we feel as though we're hard to beat and you have control in the game.

12:44The boys are right. I mean, especially when you look back at the Man United game last week where at least Liverpool showed chaos. At least Liverpool could have scored five or six or seven because so many attacking players were on show. When they needed chaos today, it was Brentford that should have scored more goals. They were the ones that were taking the game to Liverpool. Now, the Liverpool players now, you know, they've got to react. They've got Crystal Palace again midweek in the Cup. Then they play Aston at home. And then they play Real Madrid. So they're sitting in sixth spot at the moment in the Premier League.

13:13And it could get worse. They could go down to seventh or eighth after the team is behind them play tomorrow. So Arnazslot will be scratching his head tonight thinking what on earth has gone wrong from the end of last season to what's happened now. And Liverpool don't need chaos. Arnazslot doesn't want chaos. He wants control in a game because they haven't got it. If you haven't got control in the game, the only way you can potentially win a game or lose a game is having chaos. And that's what we saw in the first half a dozen games at the start of the season. They won by late goals because of chaos.

13:44They won games by the odd goal. Now that's come back to bite them because now they're losing, apart from today, late goal. So he's in now a world of trouble on a slot. He'll figure it out because he's got good players. But they need to show some reaction. They need to start doing the basics right. They need to roll their sleeves up and really prove to the Liverpool fans and the manager, right, listen, I've got to go back to basics. I might have to simplify my game. And it's not going to be 11 v 11. It's going to be man on man. And I'm just going to dominate my opponent. and that's all I can do in the short term to try and get some sort of results and get Liverpool where they should be.

14:17At the moment, you're looking at a team now, Alexis, where you're thinking, is this team going to qualify for Champions League? The answer is no. They look way off at the moment. Wow. Stevie, what do you do about the Salah situation? Because I feel like up until he scored the goal, you were ready to drop him for the next game. But you did say when you score a goal like that, the manager's almost obliged to put him back in the XI, also considering who he is. Well the reason why I said He almost feels as though he has to play Is that goals make a difference to players You know it changes their mindset And the fact that he's gotten a goal Will change his mindset From doom and gloom To right I've broken the ice Now I can go forward And keep scoring goals And so Do you really turn around and not play him?

15:06And again Another reason why you play him because, quite frankly, there isn't anybody knocking on the door saying, you can't leave me out for Salah. So the fact that he scored a goal, I think, means he has to play. Had he not, had he finished this game like he has since the start of the season, then absolutely you, I think, would be within your rights to turn around and say, oh, I think you need to sit down for a couple of games and figure things out. But the fact he's got that goal, I think you have to play him. The problem is, Stevie, is that you can have that same conversation about 10 players on the field for Liverpool.

15:45You can have that same conversation of, he's barely hanging on, he's barely hanging on, that guy, I don't know if he should play, Kerkes is afraid, and you're looking around and going, well, how many players can we actually change and keep a structure, which is another concern for Liverpool. There is no structure to this team. To Stevie's point about the second half, the difference between Liverpool today and a Sunday League team in terms of structure is none. Wow. No, think of it. Who was playing in the middle of the park for this team in the second half that you could actually say, well, this is what they're trying to do, and this is how they're approaching the match, and this is how they're looking to break down Brentford?

16:27There was no clarity there. It's just guys kind of floating in and out of space because you're trusting them to be good enough players to figure out what position they can take in order to be dangerous. But you know what happens when they lose the ball? Nobody takes responsibility defensively. Nobody's tracking back. Nobody knows their starting positions or their reset positions defensively. And so, therefore, Brentford can just play right through them or play a ball that breaks everybody down as they did at the end of the first half. I'm not making this up. this is actually, you can visibly observe this and look at a team that has no organisation whatsoever.

17:05Well, Don brought up an interesting point, CV, that I just want to show you and come to you on it. And that's Liverpool's upcoming games. As he mentioned, they have to play Crystal Palace. And we know how Crystal Palace have been getting the better of them. Villa, then Real Madrid, as well as Manchester City. Which one of these does Liverpool win, if any? See, here's the thing, Alexis. Quite frankly, it doesn't matter whether Liverpool are playing Crystal Palace, Real Madrid or Grimsby Town. Right now, it's about the next game, the next first 10 minutes, the next thing everybody does. It really doesn't matter who Liverpool are up against right now.

17:45Unless it's Eintracht Frankfurt. And the last time I looked, they're still playing in the Bundesliga. Yes, they are. And they're not in the Carabao Cup. No. So right now, for Anish Slott, it's about the next block of 10 or 15 minutes to try and figure this team out. And what Ali was, the point about Salah, Ali's talking about there are so many people in the same position. That's another reason why you play Salah. Because Anish Slott is sitting trying to figure out, how do I get nine different guys? How do I find the spark to get them going? Well, Mo Salah's just solved that one for you because he's got the goal.

18:25So now you've got to look at the other eight. I mean, problem after problem. But, yeah, it doesn't matter who they play. It's the next block of 10, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, whatever it is, to start building. And I said it last week, you have to start at the back. You've got to start at the back. You've got to have a strong foundation. Don't be giving goals away. as long as you don't lose any goals with the talent you have you think eventually it's going to start working like it did the first five games of the season because that's the only reason they won the games because the talent they've got actually somebody stepped up somebody stepped up somebody stepped up but if you keep throwing the ball in the back of your own net then you're putting even more pressure on the forward guys who are struggling as we speak so yeah it's a whole lot of problems and not very many answers right now.

19:19Are you tired of talking about Liverpool yet? Do you want us to move on? Because I feel like the more we go the redder he gets. Manchester United hosted Brighton at Old Trafford. Brighton getting the better of Manchester United in six of their last seven meetings but not today. It was the Red Devils that won four goals to two. Brian and Bomo getting a brace and goals from Casemiro and Mateus Cunha who got his first Premier League goal for the Red Devils, gave them all three points and made it three wins in a row. What a time to be alive. Let's have a look at the top half of the standings, shall we?

19:56Manchester United now in the top four. Look at that. Two positions ahead of the Premier League champions, Liverpool. Who would have thought? Wow. All right, let's get into this one. How desperate are you? To get three wins in a row? You should be desperate to get three wins in a row. The fact that you are the happiest girl on the planet and you're sitting in fourth. Because did you not see what United did last season? I'll just say it. It's incredible how happy you are because you're fourth. Wouldn't you love to sit in fourth tonight? That's what I thought. Well, I can't. I'm too busy cleaning that Premier League title we got last year.

20:42With some of the tears. With some of the tears that you guys had. We've got to have to play this year because we're too busy cleaning the silverware. All right, all right. Don, let me come to you for some fresh opinions, shall we? Manchester United, three wins in a row right now. Signs of improvement. We're always hesitant to feel like they're turning a corner. But what do you think after what we saw today? I hope this pesky Dan Thomas is watching tonight because I remember when I predicted Man U for a top four to six finish at the start of the season. He went 40-0. Go away with yourself. Go away with yourself.

21:12Go away with yourself. See? See? C? C? You get 6 ,000 things wrong, and for 10 minutes, you've got one rate because they're not finishing in the top four. I'm not going to wrong, Don, because I made that prediction as well. I'll tell you what, a soft one. And we were last, Scott, Don. Sorry, I'll tell you what, my analysis watching Man U today, great win, fantastic win. The boy on Instagram who's searching for five wins on the spin to try and get me far in the court is going to be ecstatic. He's so close. But I watched the Man United team today that played off the back of the Liverpool win. They had so much confidence.

21:49I think if Man United lose that game or draw that game against Liverpool, I wouldn't have saw the same Man United players today. They just had so much confidence. And I say this very, in a complimentary way, they had a little bit of arrogance about them with Cunha and Buomo. I thought they played well. I thought they stroked the ball around really well. I thought the win against Liverpool last week put them in really good stead. And that was always going to be the test. Will it be the same old Man United off the back of a Liverpool win? Will they let you down again and lose against Brighton today?

22:19Absolutely not. Terrific win for them. You know the biggest thing for me? When you sign players, particularly when you're in trouble and you're struggling, when you sign players like Cunha and Mbomo, who come in and absolutely have no worries about what's previously been going in, they're happy to be there, they just want to play, and they're going to... It's a complete and utter breath of pressure. And you saw... Have you ever needed proof of that? You saw that today with Cunha and Mbomo. You've been very impressed by Mbomo specifically. I mean... Yeah, I mean, the way he took his goals and just his all-round...

22:56You know, he's megging people. He was megging people today. And Cunha... Cunha just... Again... He makes everybody around him react in a positive manner. And that's what United were today. From the first minute... Not to the last, because they did have a little panic up for ten minutes. But for the majority of this game, they were on the front foot. They were closing Brighton down early. Yes, Brighton, what they try to do, play out. But then, that's only because Manchester United forced them into those mistakes. Because they were bright. Because they wanted to go forward. Led by particularly Cunha and Mbomo.

23:33And so, yeah, they deserve to win this game way easier than they did. Threw a little bit of drama in. As they do. But no, this is easily their best performance of the season. There is, I say there's an aura of confidence about Manchester United, certainly today and in this game. And based on today's evidence, an aura of confidence that you see on Cunha, that you see on Mbemou, that you see overall on this team that defensively is willing to together go on press the ball, albeit against a team that invited that pressure because they played and overplayed and overplayed and turned the ball over in bad areas, which then allowed Manchester United to really take a step forward.

24:15That played into the hands of Manchester United. My only concern would be that at 3-0, it felt like a dominant performance, like a comfortable, confident, there I say, aura of confidence about Manchester United. And it's almost as if the scar tissue, it's almost as if the skeletons in the closet, The demons who are coming back is like, no, no, no, no, no. It cannot be comfortable because we don't feel good if it's comfortable. And what I thought was the importance of a crowd at Old Trafford that have had many chances and many opportunities to see bad after bad after bad performance. And they could have just as easily go down the path of, oh, no, here we go again.

25:01We're going to give this up. Oh, no. No, not against Brighton. No. Instead, they elevated the team late in the match. And it's almost as if, no, no, we cannot give this up. Let's get after it. And they go and score the fourth goal. And the explosion of excitement in that stadium is like, yes, yes. Yes, it's happening. This team dominated today. They were good today. They co-styled the match in style. They won it for two, three points. Look at Manchester United flying around. Be excited if you're a Manchester United fan about today. Look at Manchester United flying around. Indeed. All right. Well, on a day where Liverpool lose and Manchester United win, you can bet we're going to get plenty questions in extra time.

27:23All right, let's head on over to España, shall we, for the Marca newspaper. The Clásico is on fire, less than 24 hours away. It all goes down at the Santiago Bernabeu. Now, we do know that La Minya Mal added some fuel to the fire with some spicy comments that we talked about on yesterday's show. Well, Xabi Alonso was asked about them repeatedly in his preso. What are the declarations of Lamine's statement can incentivize the Vestuado del Real Madrid? As I've responded, it's a game sufficiently important, sufficiently... It has many ingredients for us, for us to play well, for us to enjoy it, and that's what we most and the most exciting and most exciting for tomorrow.

28:13Do you think irrespective or offensively those declarations? No, I don't want to enter. There are many declarations from the people of Barcelona and I can't start to evaluate them all. We are important to see the green, what happens in the field, where we come. Minyamal, with his declarations, could generate a classic tension? No, I think it's going to be a very intense game, It's going to be a very disputed game. We know that there can be moments for everything. We have to be prepared to compete at the maximum level. That players have that energy, that need to be needed to play a top game.

29:10drama we over sensationalize things which is what we were hoping for when la miniamal made these comments but shabby wasn't biting was he i mean what what makes ali think that we like the drama when someone decides to ask shabby alonso about this and he doesn't buy on it say tell you what i'll ask again doesn't bite you know what i'll try again doesn't bite you know he doesn't bite i'll try again doesn't bite i'll try again doesn't bite so give up it's not gonna happen He's not going to be drawn into it. And do you know what? That little remark in which Xavi Alonso says, there's enough being said from Barcelona, I don't need to get into this.

29:46That will be the thing that everyone picks up on now. I mean, I get the feeling, do you know what? I get the feeling that here we are laughing about it. I reckon Laminya Mahl is at home laughing about this too. I don't think he's remotely bothered about this. Do you hear? I think he likes stirring it up. I think everybody likes stirring it up. Everybody wants to get into the drama of this game. and it's quite harmless stuff. But, of course, it flies in the face of what you usually get at these bland pre-match press conferences where everybody gives the other team toffees, how good they are. Not for this game.

30:19But I think Yamal, he's obviously going to play a huge part in this fixture, isn't he? Because he's up against Alvaro Carreras, the left-back who looked like he'd had a nervous breakdown when Real Madrid played Atletico Madrid and let in five goals. I mean, that must be a worry for Real Madrid. how Carreras is going to cope with Jamal. Shall we look at the other side? Luis, the other side of the pitch. How important do you think it is for Barcelona in the fact that Rafinha is missing? It's a big part. It's a very important piece that Barcelona is not going to have. I'm not saying that because of Rafinha, maybe they are going to be in trouble against Real Madrid because already playing against Real Madrid is going to be difficult.

30:55But you are missing not only a fantastic player, not one of the best players of Barcelona last season, but you are missing your leader, your captain. Someone who last year showed that he was the first one on the press, the first one running, the first one running, not only in attack, but also in defense, chasing players, putting under pressure the opponent. And right now Barcelona doesn't have that many. At the back we are missing a very important piece. We've been talking a lot about Diego Martinez, how important he was in the middle of the defense and leading that lineup from back to going forward.

31:27Well, Rafinha was the player up front doing that. He was the first one leading the team. And the first one that, for the youngster, is always the mentor. It's always the one who they can rely on. And Barcelona against Real Madrid in this kind of moment and in this situation, he's going to miss a lot, this player. Ali, is that enough drama for you? It was dramatic when Luis almost lost his voice there. That was dramatic. It's because he's up working late. You know Luis is one of our hardest workers.

32:02Look, as it pertains to Xavi Alonso, he gave a clinic on how to answer the question however he wants to answer it. The media, you and Sid and Ian, you can all ask whatever questions you want to ask. But as a person who's actually there in front of the microphone, you answer it however you want to answer it. You are the one that can add fuel to the fire, that can light this thing up, or you can just say, you're asking me about La Minha Mal, I'll tell you how cute my outfit is. And look, I don't have to entertain the question, I don't have to answer the question, and I don't have to entertain La Minha Mal nor anybody else for that matter.

32:44My priority is my team and for my team to be ready to play. And they better be ready to play because in the last big game that they had against Atlético Madrid, Xabi Alonso's team was not ready to play. All right, well, Ale, most like many footballers, may not like speaking to us in the media, but Sid Lowe always loves to get the big names and Sid's been speaking recently with Ivan Rakitic. Let's hear what he has to say. When your friends back home say to you, what's the Glasgow like? What do you tell them? It's amazing because there are many questions and just for me to be part of this amazing game because everybody, yeah, we're just waiting for this game.

33:22Now, when I'm outside, I have to enjoy this game, the game from another part. It's just amazing what happened around. Even now, in 2025, much more than maybe some years ago. I think it's what everybody wants to know. How it is, how you prepare, what you're doing, how you feel, how you get to score. These are amazing moments and I think this is something for my whole life. Did you ask that question as well? When you turn up at Barcelona, do you ask people at the club? What do they say to you, what do they explain to you about the, not so much the game itself, but the meaning of the game? Of course I think I was also lucky that I had in my time guys that already had more than 20 Clásicos.

34:15Maybe to listen to them it was to say, yeah, we go, we play and let's go home. But really to understand you have to be inside, you have to travel, you have to get in the plane from Barcelona to Madrid and you really arrive here and you can really feel the fans and this good pressure, nice pressure. This is the thing when you really understand something crazy happened here. Why weren't you scared of the Bernabeu? Most teams go to the Bernabeu in frighten. That Barcelona team has had a generation of going to the Bernabeu and producing its best performances? I think sometimes it's something about the style of understanding what your team has to do.

34:56I think that's why in this during my years for Madrid it was not easy to play at home against us because if the pressure of their own fans they had to be or that they had to be the day to push a bit more they have to try to give a bit more and then for us to have a bit more space with Leo Neymar and Luis there in this zone was maybe sometimes not not so bad for us you know and even maybe to play in Barcelona they could wait a bit more to play on this on this counter-attacks it was a bit better for them and for us the games in Bernabeu was a bit was a bit I can't say easy but a bit easier for us because we had a bit more space

35:44So, Luis, tell us what it's like the night before a Clásico. Is your mind on it? Is it difficult to sleep? Are you thinking about what's going to happen the next day or are you just watching something on Netflix instead? There was no Netflix back then. That's true. That's for sure. No, honestly, I think that it generates a lot of noise around it. But for you, of course, it's a special game, but it depends on your personality. But in my time when I was going to play for Real Madrid, It was about visualizing myself on the pitch, seeing what I can do against who I was going to play, to be focusing and being ready.

36:19But that's it. That's the only thing that you think about that game. You are under control. You know what you have to do. Even with the atmosphere that it creates around, it doesn't matter if you play at the Camp Nou or the Bernabeu, you are under control. Now we've been talking about Laminya Mal, and if he was watching what we are saying about this question that we are doing at Chavi to what he's been saying, La Meña Mali is at home, chilling, doing TikToks and doing his things. And he's not worrying about what is happening around because he's under control. He knows what he has to do on the field.

36:51And I'm sure he's going to do a fantastic game. That's what it's all about for a football player. So Luis doesn't get nervous. But do you? A little bit. Yeah, honestly, you do a little bit because you know this is a big game that the world is watching and you want to get it right. But look, you know, you can over prep the game as the commentator. There's no doubt about that. There's enough drama on that pitch. And, you know, it's worth reminding ourselves. I mean, you know, Sid, the big picture here. I mean, Real Madrid are bursting for revenge. They've lost the last four of these things, conceding 16 goals.

37:24They've been ripped apart by Rafinha and Lewandowski, both of whom aren't playing tomorrow, and Yamal, who is. You know, and Marcus Rashford, add him to the mix. So there's going to be any number of subplots here tomorrow and lots to talk about. You've just added everything to the mix. Me and Luis have already been through this, so we don't have to do it. You do. What's the prediction? What's the score going to be? Well, the four games last season produced 23 goals. I mean, I make that nearly six a game on average. I could see something similar happen because I really don't think either of these two teams, as dangerous as they are, are great defensively.

38:02So I could see something like 3-3. There you go, Alexis. 3-3 for you. Make sure you're watching. All right, guys. Well, I was going to say thank you and let you get to bed, but I know you guys better than that. Where are you going tonight? Where's Luis taking you? To bed. We are going to bed. With Luis. Like Lamin Yamal, fast asleep. I think I know Lamin Yamal, and he's never let a match the day after stop him from having a little bit of fun. Right? I don't know. Why are you looking at me? I don't like you as well. I don't. Why don't you ask Xabi Alonso? So I'm sure he'll give you an answer. Yes, yes.

38:40Xavi has the answer. Xavi indeed has the answer. Thank you guys so much. We'll see if Xavi Alonso indeed does have the answer to win an El Clasico. It has been a while since Real Madrid have gotten the better of Barcelona in this one, especially after what we saw last season. And it all goes down in less than 24 hours. 40:37Chelsea hosted Sunderland at Stamford Bridge, and it was all going well for the Blues after just four minutes. Alejandro Garnaccio gave them the lead, but Wilson Isidor managed to equalize in the 22nd minute. It was 1-1 for the rest of the game until injury time when Talby managed to get a winner for the Black Cats. Dan, Dan, oh God, we're missing Dan. But Don, now we know that Don only gets to call the big games. And Don, something tells me you did get to call this one. So your thoughts on it and just what is this Chelsea team? What are we going to expect from them now? Because they're just definitely not consistent.

41:18Well, that's exactly it. They're young and they're inconsistent. They don't have any in-game leaders. There was a game when I played in many moons ago. We won 4-2 and I scored a brace, but they had Desailly and Frank Leboeuf at the back. They had leaders through the middle of the pitch. Sunderland rocked up today, outplayed them. I was trying to pick my man of the match at the end of the game. Dan Ballard was brilliant at the back. Enzo Le Fay, brilliant in midfield. Granit Xhaka ran the show. Granit Xhaka looked like he played in slippers today. He was that good. But Chelsea lost their way in game.

41:48And what frustrated me most about the Chelsea performance is they were moving the ball too slow. So Enzo Fernandez got on the ball. Sunderland went in a sort of low block. And I was like, one, two, three, four, five, six touches he had. He played it to Rhys James. One, two, three, four, five, six touches he had. And it was just symptomatic of how Chelsea approached the game. And they lost their way. They got off to a good start. But then Neto faded in the game. Garnaccio faded in the game. He had to try and go to his bench to try and find a spark. But the more the game went on, Sunderland just sat in that low block at 1-1.

42:21looked like they were going to get a 1-1, but won the game late on. And that, I'm afraid, Alexis, is what you're going to see from Chelsea from now to the end of the season. They were in really good form. I think it was a chance for Chelsea to win five on the spin in all competitions. And you would have thought, on paper, the form that they've been in, they should be rocking Sunderland over or turning Sunderland over to try and finish in the top four or close to it. In the end, they absolutely just ran out of any sort of ideas. They lost their way big time in-game. Ale, you had a little reaction.

42:51I had a little reaction to the fact that Don had to remind us that he was right about Manchester United and then reminded us about the fact that he scored a couple of goals. You know, a long time ago, but I scored a couple of goals. No, it was on this day, so it was sort of relevant to the game. Sort of, sort of, very sort of. Kind of, sort of relevant. A little pat on the back. As it pertains to Chelsea, at 1-1, right, they should never have lost this game. Now, 1-1 would have been a disappointing result, but not nearly as disappointing as losing the match. And I'm going to specifically address the second goal by Sunderland.

43:31Long ball over the top. Broby gets on the end of it. And it's a 2-1, two defenders of Chelsea, while Broby is waiting for Sunderland to catch up, for anybody to come and support him. And Chalova, instead of actually closing him down and making it a real 2v1 and forcing him to the outside, he just allowed Broby to sit on the ball. Literally, one Mississippi, two Mississippi. He's sitting, standing, waiting for the support to come. Chalova's over here, also just standing and watching. No, go and close the ball down. Make it a 2v1. Force him to the outside so that now he cannot wait for the help.

44:13He has to dribble away from the pressure and away from goal. They allowed Broby to do whatever he wanted, and then Talby, who had sprinted 40 yards to get there, then has the presence of mind to have the finish that he did. Great for Sunderland. Awful defending from Chelsea, and it's awful management of a late-game situation. You cannot be so concerned about scoring the game-winning goal that you forget about doing basic defending and keeping the score at worst at 1-1. Stevie, your thoughts on Chelsea? Complete sucker punch at the end. Yes, Sunderland. At 1-0, I just couldn't see another winner other than Chelsea.

44:52And as Don said, I think they did lose their way. But second half was completely, totally and utterly one-sided. And that goal is the only time I remember Sunderland actually getting in the other half. So, yeah, this defeat is down to Chelsea. A, because they couldn't break Sunderland down. And as Ali said, defensively, that's a shambles. Having dominated so much, it's criminal to actually lose a goal and lose three points in the manner they did. All right, let's move on now, shall we? Because we saw Bundesliga Xhaka in action on our Bundesliga coverage this morning. He's not here to look at this one, but I'm sure he would have loved to.

45:32Newcastle up against Fulham. 18 minutes here now. Jacob Murphy here after winning possession scores and the Magpies get the 1-0 lead. Yeah, it's horrible from Bassey defensively. Goalkeeper, I think, is a little bit too far wide. But it's a good finish from Murphy. 56 minutes in now into the second half. Oh, yeah. Lukic here. I like those. Pulls one back. That's definitely your range. I like that. I don't know whether you could have jumped that high, Alex. That's all right. I would have given it the old chest into the back of an end. Good Lord, I like those. Well, speaking of a late, late show, could we get one at St.

46:13James' Park? Bruno Guimaraes here, scoring right here. And Newcastle get the 2-1 lead. Yeah, Bassey again with a mistake. And in the end, the goalkeeper, it's a good save, but he should parry that wide, not back into the middle. And so in the end, it's an easy finish for Guimaraes. All right, well, there's plenty more Premier League action coming up on Sunday. No doubt Arsenal will want to capitalize on Liverpool dropping points today. We'll be talking about their game on the show tomorrow, so join us. In a contracting business, you're either growing or you're grinding. Success is no longer about hard work alone.

Here's a look at the top of the Bundesliga, and it's all Bayern Munich. They are five points clear at the top, especially after a win today, 3-0 over Borussia Mönchengladbach. And Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany spoke to our Archie Rindtutt after the game. Vincent, I'd say the game was almost like your journey to the stadium today. It took a while to get going, but you got the job done. Yeah, but it wasn't surprising either. We played against a team that I think set a lot on the emotions in this game.

48:20Perhaps that's the reason of the exclusion as well, the red card. But at the same time, with 10 men, they kept working hard. They kept frustrating us and trying to keep the tempo of the game, you know, achievable for them. And then in the second half, what we did well is we stayed calm. And we started just passing the ball quicker, making them shifts, opening gaps, probing, having shots, crosses, you know, combinations. and then eventually maybe it's an off day and then nothing goes in but you create the chances and today we created the chances to then deservedly win the game. You've been very careful in how you're managing Lennart Carr's progress.

49:01How rewarding is it for you as a coaching team and as a club to see that pay off today? Yeah, I think it's rewarding for me but it's rewarding for the club as well and the main thing I want to see is longevity. And for that, I think we need to go every step and make sure we stay objective on the things he does well and the things he needs to improve. But then the key thing is you need to have a tool. You need to have a weapon when you come to a team like Bayern Munich and you can see that shot from outside the box. I mean, he can take it ten times, he might go in again ten times. So that's his weapon, but he still has a lot to improve on, and that's what we're there for, and we're enjoying the journey.

49:47Finally, next up, because the games don't keep stopping, the significance of this cup game against Cologne. How would you describe it? It's a final. I think we've earned our momentum this far with hard work, but we have an experienced team. We know it's an important game. But we approach it like every game and make sure that we perform and then try to do everything we can to go to the next round. That's a thank you. Thank you. Well, like I said, the Bayern Munich train just keeps on rolling and flying. Now look at this. They have the longest win streak to begin a season. They are tied with Milan, who did it back in 1992.

50:34All right. Well, I just want to say that, you know, I learned that it's Vincent after spending some time with our crew over there, Ale. And even Neda Manua called Vinny Vincent. So now I've been elevated. But anyways, Ale, putting all of that aside, just looking at all of the graphics every week, it's almost like another record for Bayern, another level unlocked. And it's wild to think that they're doing this without pretty much one of their biggest players, if not their biggest in Musiala, as well as the fact that we're looking at a Nico Jackson leading that line, something I don't think we ever had on our bingo cards going into this season.

51:11You know how Archie asked Vincent Company. Initially, something along the lines that it took a little while to get going, but eventually you scored the goals. Actually, it didn't take long at all. Luis Diaz should have scored a minute in. Had a tap-in. Right in front of the goalkeeper, he hit it wide. Had that been the case, we no longer have questions to ask Vincent company about his team in Bundesliga play because they are dominant. They have been dominant and there is no stopping Bayern Munich. Who they are in Bundesliga is significantly more talented than everybody else, but that's not what makes them dominant.

51:55What makes them dominant is that while they have all that talent available, this team works. This team runs. This team presses the ball together. This team covers the ground for each other. And they're willing and able to go and press the ball higher up the field, regain possession of the ball, and part themselves in the attacking half, and then all that talent takes over. They're just far too good for anybody else in Bundesliga. And so when I say it's over, I really mean it's over. Unless, unless Bayern Munich just completely disappears off the face of the earth, they're going to be winning Bundesliga, running away.

52:37This is a long, drawn-out coronation, and we're going to continue to see it. The only thing that can stop Bayern Munich is Bayern Munich. All these other teams, they can try, they can work, they can organize themselves, but they're far too good. So when you put together the talent that they have available, plus the work, and the work rate, and the character, and the mentality, and all the things that seem to be working so well, and now the confidence of a team that is unbeaten to start the season, they're unstoppable, certainly in Bundesliga play. It really is up to them how they carry that momentum into European competition.

53:11But Bayern Munich have been excellent, regardless of who's on the field and who's not in the field. That's the mark of a good team. Yeah, Bayern definitely looking unstoppable, especially when they have 17-year-olds scoring stunning goals. We saw from Lennart Karl, but he also scored in Champions League action earlier this week against Bruges and then followed it up with the goal that we saw here today. Stevie, which one was your favourite? Which one was better? Do you know, it's hard to separate them. Initially, when I first saw the second one, I was going with that. But then the first one, he actually goes past and drives through three defenders on the first one.

53:49So, it's... I can't separate them. They're both, in their own way, just incredible for a 17-year-old. Well, they're incredible for anybody. But in the case of Leonard Carl, he is deep. And I mean deep in terms of the options for Vincent Kompany. He is well deep. Because as you just mentioned, Jamal Musiala will come back. And you've got to play Sir Canavity, and Luis Diaz is playing, and Harry Kane is playing, and Michael Oles is playing. So where does he fit in? this is what Bayern Munich can do and this coaching staff can do because they're so dominant, they can give games to a guy like Leonard Karl coming off the bench even if you have so many numbers behind the ball as Muzengladbach had today and said, this kid can actually break them down.

54:43And he did. So, again, this is yet another statement of power and strength by Bayern Munich. We have all these guys here, but over here we may have one that is even more special that when he matures and grows up and actually becomes a player that we think he can become. And if we develop and nurture this talent, this guy can be the really, truly special one. You haven't even seen him. He's over here. And when we show him to you, he is that good and he is that special. Again, I've said it throughout the early part of the season, and I will continue to say the same thing. There are some out there that may hang on to hope and say, no, no, the rest of Bundesliga will come back.

55:23No, they won't. Another one. Bayern Munich is far too good for these other teams. I'm going to give you Stuart Robson's number as well because Robbo was saying Vanson. You've been polite. I'm not going to win it over, but there's plenty for Bundesliga action coming your way on our network on Sunday. Leverkusen in action against Breiberg. It just doesn't flow. I tried. I was speaking with Derek Ray for long enough to try and get the pronunciation. That's your problem. There we go. First issue. We're just going to call him Vinny. I call him Vinny anyway. All right, we've had such a lovely day, and we're not stopping yet.

56:00Don't go anywhere. That's a lovely day for some. But Extra Time is next.

56:15Welcome in to Extra Time. We've got Stevie, Ale, and Dawn Hutchison is still hanging out with us. Let's get right into the questions, shall we? All right. Stevie's gone a bit red again. Don, oh, Ali's going to love this question. Don predicted Manchester United as top four. Is he feeling more confident of this possibility after today's game? I think you are, Don. No, it actually got taken out of context. I said with good signings, I think the question was at the start of the season, I can't remember who Dan said. Ali might remind me who they were going to sign. it was like three or four world-class players where could they finish and i went with you know with three or four really good players top end players they could finish four to six they got laughed out of town i don't feel confident because i still think they've got a loss in them which might derail them a little bit but hey listen they're doing all right alexis three wins on the spin they're doing good don't don't like don't let alep bully you and make you change your mind He was so confident in the show.

57:17No, no, no, no, no, no, no. First of all, I did not bully anybody. All I said was that Don was very quick to take credit for Manchester United. And now it turns out that he doesn't want the credit? That he didn't exactly predict that. He's being humble. Oh, humble Don. The guy that scored two goals for West Ham against Chelsea when Frank LeBeouf or whatever. Our humble Jordi, that's Don. There you go. Humble Don. See, the beauty for me, Alexis, right? When you have a day like today, Liverpool was so bad. Because I played for like a million clubs. Exactly. Someone's going to get me a result. And that's what Sunderland did today, so I'm happy for them.

58:02And why was it important again, Don? We just wanted to hear you say it again. Why was it important? Just humble Don. Just, you know, predicting Man United top four to six. They're on track, Ali. They are on track. And what did you do against Chelsea and Frank LaBeouf? I scored two against them in a 4-2 win. All right. Thank you very much. It's going on for me. All right, all right, all right. All right, all right, all right. I love that, Don. Next question. How can a sane manager start Salah after his dreadful performance is left, right, and center? Because he scored 1 ,000 goals in the last nine years.

58:35Wow. That's the most defensive I've seen you about, Mo Salah, because you were ready to drop him as well. Stevie came. Yeah, you have to earn. When you're not having a good time, you have to earn the patience of the manager in order to get you back to where you were. And Mo Salah, because of what he's done over the last nine years, the goals he's scored, the differences he's made to Liverpool winning a couple of Premier League titles, Champions League, then he deserves a little bit of grace. That's it. Now, you said he scored 1 ,000 goals over the nine years. Well, I would say that 999 of those goals would have been meaningless had he not scored the goal that he scored today.

59:18Because had he not scored today, I think he would have been really close to hanging out on the bench. Don, what do you think? I mean, what I would say is what's Kiesa got to do to try and get a start on this team, the form that he's in? I mean, is there something radical, Stevie? Is there something radical Arnestog could do with Mo Salah, like play him in the number 10 position? Could Salah end up drifting inwards to get him on the ball more? No. No. You've got to understand, this is Italian love. Humboldt Don is also Italian Don. Listen, if you hadn't just spent$120 million on a guy who you want to play in that position, then maybe you could think about it just to try it.

1:00:10But even then, you would only be able to do that if the actual team was functioning well and he was the only guy that needed maybe a change or just something to spark him. Maybe you could then think about doing something like that. But the way it is right now, no. You couldn't do that. All right, shall we go to the next question? Sure, you're the host. What did we say no? Well, I guess we just won't. I'm not the one that's the boss Our producer Mike's the boss Can you please make sure that you keep it together today And nobody throws papers off the table Oh no, I have mine very neatly in a pile here Highlights went relatively well today I think Thank you, thank you very much It's a very sensitive subject around here this day But now I know I can be dramatic Okay Stay tuned for it Alright, next question is for Don Don, dare I say it But can Sunderland fans dream of European football next season?

1:01:09Absolutely. Oh! Why not? The second European football. Absolutely. Calm down. Why not, Stevie? Calm down. Why not? Why not? Why not, Stevie? You were saying calm down when Leicester won the league. I bet you've been saying that. Let me remind you. And by the way, when Leicester won the league, everyone forgets, I think they made the quarterfinals of the Champions League. or close to it. Why not be Sunderland fans? Come on, Stevie. Come on. Just let me remind you of a little team called Hull City. Yeah. Who a few moons ago came up and were sat top of the league just before Christmas and barely scraped relegated.

1:01:53They almost got relegated. So, kill your jets, stay in the league, never mind your European nonsense. He's a brick. dream dream they could finish seventh three that's done it if palace can do it why not Sunderland I think palace might might be of a different caliber than Sunderland that's magic mushroom not dream magic mushroom no never never we're gonna have this conversation next question when a player like Kevin De Bruina hurts his hamstring on a penalty kick. Is that a sign that your career is definitely nearing the end? Oh, yeah. Well, it's not encouraging. Oh, yeah. Say that much. It's not a good thing.

1:02:44As you get older, it's amazing how the things that were so natural and so easily done earlier in your career, the most basic things become difficult to do. Yeah. And your legs, see, what happens is, as you get older, your mind can see everything. Much better than you did when you were younger. With much more clarity. But your legs cannot do the things that your mind is asking them to do. And when that crossover happens, that's when you know it's like, oh, mommy, it's coming. and you can't stop it. You can delay it maybe, but you can't stop it. And the more you have things like this, that you hurt your hamstring taking a free kick, or in this case, taking a penalty kick, it's yet another sign that it's coming.

1:03:40It's a coming. Better get ready. There's no stopping it. We hate to see it. What a player. But you know what? Maybe he's just hanging on. Napoli are at the top of the city right now. They look like they're going well. If they repeat what we saw last time, KDB could get another trophy, and then he can finally give all his hamstrings. I didn't say he was going to die tomorrow. No, I know. But I mean, have this hamstring hang on. Maybe net a couple more penalties. Okay. He's like the big, nice, shiny new signing at Napoli. Why not? I didn't say he wasn't going to make it through the season. I said that these are only signs that things are happening that were not happening before.

1:04:14There's a reason for that. I feel like they're calling time. Wow. Calling. You know me. I'm sensationalizing. You're the grim reaper over here. Next question. Who's that? Is that Santa Claus? Oh no, he's ho-ho-ho, isn't he? It's Halloween. Yeah, that's ho-ho-ho. It's Halloween. I was going to go, ha-ha-ha. Did that sound menacing? Ali, I'm feeling your pain tonight, pal. I'm feeling your pain tonight, Ali. Look what you've got to work with. There's the A-team right here. I'm here all week, baby. Here all week. Next question. You've been gone for a while. Yeah, but working. Those Bundesliga, Alexis.

1:04:54Yeah. Stevie, any comments on the green kits? Liverpool's kit today, which I told you I'm a massive fan of, honestly. No, don't like it. Chef's mwah. I don't like it. No, we had a green... Don and I wore a green kit, green and white. We couldn't win a game away from home, innit? And you couldn't today. And we couldn't today. Just carrying on from where Don and I left off with a green and white strip. I hate it. It was this green that they have a candy, did it say candy across the tree? I had candy across it, yeah. Yeah, I hated it. Horrible. You're just a bit more superstitious. But is there...

1:05:30It was horrible. Don, it was horrible, wasn't it? There you go. Oh, that's it. Is that you, Don? No. I'll tell you what, it looks better on the picture than it did actually at the time. I was going to say, how quickly... Humble Don. Humble Don, just showing you a picture. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Humble Don. How quickly do you have access to this picture that in 30 seconds you're able to pull it up. I imagine Don looking at himself like, oh, look at you, Don. Man, you look good at green. So actually, the strip was horrible, but Don made it look good. Don made it work. I don't know what was quicker, Don reaching for a photo of himself back in his prime years, or Frank LaBeouf reaching for his World Cup trophy.

1:06:12No, Don could wear a potato sack and make it look like Armani. Wow. I mean, he could. Couldn't he, Don? Wow. That's a company right now. Knowing how he throws money around and wastes money, he would spend Armani money on a sack of potatoes. Oh. Not that Armani. Don has Armani money? Hey, hey. Yeah, he does. You don't know about Don. I am at a petrol station, apparently. Yeah. Ah, yes. There he is. Stay with the glory days. There he is. Alexa, stay with the glory days, won't they? Oh, it's all right, Doug. See, humble Don again, Ali. Humble Don again. give a family 250 pound at a prep-off station to try and get them out of stucke big heart big heart yeah you know it's love in the end it's love it's about the kids it's about the kids yes oh our don hutchison can a heart get any bigger than his a heart i said not head final question did liverpool misjudge spending 365 million euros on isaac veertz and eketike OK, All Central, without width or flair, is their attack too predictable?

1:07:22Stevie, want to go first? Well, you can't say without width or flair. I mean, Gakpo and Salah were frightened last year. Yeah. So you can't say that. And you can't say, you know, when you've got an opportunity to sign those three players, you can't turn them down. Yeah. especially when one is literally throwing a tantrum and going on strike to join you I mean it's just it's a tough one because it just even though we've all been involved in football even I think we all still fall into the trap of looking at the names on paper and thinking it's going to be a certain thing and then when it doesn't work you kind of step back and you go I should have known better as good as they are you're making three changes there you're making two changes in the back line you know, you're changing the whole you're changing the whole team pretty much from a willow machine to trying to stick new parts in it that don't fit to Don's sack of potatoes so yeah do you know what, I'm not a question Alexis you wouldn't sign two Harry Canes would you to play in the same team and you wouldn't sign two Erlen Haarlands to play in the same team.

1:08:45You wouldn't sign two Jokeres to play in the same team. That's what Liverpool have done with Isak and Eketike. They both are exactly the same player. And I know Ali's going to hate me for saying this, but I said it a few weeks ago. If you're going to break a British transfer record, sign Julian Alvarez. He would have been the game changer. You don't need Isak and Eketike. Now you've got a problem. How are you going to get them into the team? Just saying. It's a now fair game to bring up all the times that Don is wrong. Because if this is what we're going to do in the show, I told you so. We don't have time to do that.

1:09:23We've got to get home tonight. Name my top three, Ali. Name my top three I've got wrong. We'll start with the percentage questions. Yeah. And we'll work our way down from there. Oh, Don's percentages. Love it. Second only to our Shaka's power. Like, where's Harry Kane playing right now? It's Bayern Munich, correct? Mm-hmm. According to Don, he was 100 % going to Manchester City. It was Don, Ali. Trust me, it was Don. Here's the thing, Don. Don has links. I sense, Don, that you have links. You got Harry Kane playing off the front, right, for Bayern. Yeah. So why would you not have another Harry Kane playing up front instead of Nicholas?

1:10:06You wouldn't. Instead of Nicholas Jackson. You wouldn't, Stevie. instead of Nicklaus Jackson. You wouldn't have two Harry Canes in the same team. Come on. Why not? One can play up front and the other can play off the front. Well, that's like saying Ekotika and Isak, but my point is they're two exactly the same players. They're a clone of each other. It might not work. How are you going to get them in the team? Well, one's going to score and the other one's going to assist. But system-wise, what are you going to do to play all those guys, the Gakpos, the Salah, Burtz, Eketike, Issa. I'm talking about two Harry Kane's with Bayern Munich.

1:10:40I'm playing one up front and I'm playing one off the front. That, that, you think that's a bad idea? I don't think so. No? No. All right. Would you have, would you have two Ale Morenos up top? I think he agreed with me there. I would have two Ale Morenos up top. I think he agreed with me there. He said, would you have two Ale Morenos up top? And I said, absolutely. Well, we would be hard working. We would draw a lot of fouls, but wouldn't score a lot of goals. So there you go. That's what you would get. All right. A lot of tap-ins. A lot of tap-ins. Producer Mike says he's tired and he would like to wrap things up now.

1:11:15Right. But let's remind you that our show is back on tomorrow. I will be here. Will you guys? Yes. Oh, Stevie's back with us. Yep. Ale. I got El Clasico coverage. Oh, it's El Clasico, Ale. It's Madrid, Ale, by way of Bristol, Connecticut. We love it, though. Either way, make sure to join us tomorrow. and chill everybody.
