In short

A solo New Year reflection centered on a chaotic late-2025/early-2026 stretch: a dog bite to the face, the resulting quarantine/trainer decisions, the end-of-life care for her dog Nina, and then her medical recovery (hernia surgery plus LEEP for precancerous cervical cells). She closes with “new year, new me” resets, plus health/detox and sponsor reads.

Guest backgrounds

No guests appear in the transcript. (She mentions a Humane Society worker, a plastic surgeon, and a trainer, but they are not interviewed as guests.)

Key claims

Her Cane Corso Toto bit her after she kissed/grabbed his face; she called 911 and firefighters responded. Humane Society protocol required quarantine; she panicked and texted an advocate, leading to officials and a plan to keep Toto temporarily. She later euthanized Nina due to worsening incontinence/vomiting and chose group cremation with ashes to be dropped in Newport.

Notable examples

Toto’s “velvet” cuddly behavior before the bite; Toto being shut down in shelter and needing trazodone; plastic surgeon Dr. Payman stitching her nose in Beverly Hills; Nina’s sedative injection and flowers/blanket gurney send-off.

0:00The following podcast is a Dear Media Media Production.

0:13it's me what a clusterfuck ass end of 2025 beginning of 2026 was. And so I obviously have to start off this new year, new me pod with this venting a little bit about what the fuck happened. So I got bit by Toto. And I know that I was like so cryptic about that online. It was so crazy because I'll tell it, I'll give you the story in detail, but after it happened. Oh, let me just start from the beginning. It was the day after Christmas. By the way, this dog, not once has given us any like warnings, foreshadowings. He doesn't growl. He is so good with the kids. Cane Corsos are notoriously very good with children.

1:23He like leans up against you. He cuddles like he he'll jump on you and put his head in your like just giving me the green light to be mushy with him. I, by the way, have been bit in the face before by a family dog. We had a Rottweiler growing up who would growl if you touched him certain places or like got in his face. And I touched this dog and our family dog when I was little, or my mom like gave him a kiss on the forehead and then gave him a treat. I was really little. And then I went to kiss him on the forehead after he had the treat and he did the same thing, snapped up in my nose. And so I should fucking know better than to put my face in any dog's face.

2:05But we were laying on the couch and for some, I don't know what it was like. It was like the day after Christmas. And by the way, I felt so, I felt like bad for Dobby Day because he only has one store employee. He only has one employee. He does everything. He does the social media. He does everything. Like that's a whole other tangent I could go on. And his employee, who's like my third child, our like full angel, part of our family, went home for Christmas and went home for like a good chunk of time. And he deserved to be home for a good chunk of time. And Davide was totally mentally prepared to be like alone at the store through the holidays, which is a lot because it's obviously the busiest time of year.

2:50It's slammed in there. Slammed, slammed, slammed, slammed. You know, he's doing so many transactions all day and people are hanging out in there and he's making coffee with people and serving drinks and the penitone. And he even works on Christmas Eve. People love to shop on Christmas Eve and they love to hang out in there. It feels really festive. Then Christmas Eve, we went to a friend's house for dinner, but like he cooked for that. And so He had worked all day, come home, came home just like we had the car packed ready to go. He came home, parked his car, got in our car. We went to a friend's.

3:20He made pasta. He made fish. Like he loves it, but he had not chilled. Then we woke up the next day, open presents. We go, we always get our prime rib on Christmas Eve morning at Bristol Farms because it's too big for the refrigerator. And it's a cute little tradition of ours. We see the same guy every year. We're in our pajamas. It's cute. But like, you know, we open presents and then we hit the ground running because we host between 15 and 30 people every year. And it is so joyful and we absolutely love it. But I am getting out of the shower as our guests are arriving for sure. It's a jam packed day.

3:56So now it's the 26th. It's the day after Christmas. We are fucking chilling. Davide was like, I don't want to move. I don't want to do anything. I want to chill, especially because he was going to be open on the 27th and he only didn't work the day after Christmas because it was a Monday and the source closed on Mondays. So obviously like, you know, we're drinking eggnog and watching The Godfather. And for some reason in particular this day too, I was just like all day. I was just like, I love Toto so much. I was like, look at him. He's so beautiful. He feels like velvet. Oh, I was like, thank God for you.

4:41And like all day I was kissing him and loving him. And like Carlo walks around the house going, Toto, Toto, and pointing to him. And Toto follows us into Carlo's room and like sits by his crib when we read his same thing. He sits when we read the, when we read stories to the kids, like Toto sitting there, like the other dogs are, you know, part of the pack, like perfect, perfect, perfect fucking member to the squad. so he's laying on the couch next to me he'd been laying on the couch with us like all day we were having such a lazy day and he was laying on the couch curled up next to me with his butt like towards me and his face on the other side so I lean over it's probably eight o 'clock at night I lean over the weight of my entire body is on his body like I am on him and I grabbed his little soft, little soft face, mouth flaps, velvet flaps.

5:40And I grabbed them to kiss him on the nose. Something I shouldn't do. I shouldn't do like, yeah, I'm putting my, the weight of my body on his body and I'm grabbing his face. It was like, Oh, I had like a cute attack. And I can still remember his eyes, like looking into my eyes and he stared at me like dead in the eye for a second and then just went, and I was like, oh my God, he fucking bit me. and I put my hands on my face and blood is dripping down my chin. And I, Davide was sitting on the couch next to me. So was my mom. And I took my hands down. Let me tell you something about Davide Baranchini, not chill in chaos, not, not our leader,

6:45not our leader when i'm hurt when i am sad when i am going through something he loses it same thing with the kids like things that he loves you know when someone he loves is in pain like when carmella like stubs a toe and she's fine he's like what if her toe is broken i'm like she's fine do not stop doing this to her you're giving her a complex like leave it alone

7:16and I'm processing because he is panicking. I don't know what my nose looks like. I don't know what my face looks like. So I take my hands down from my face and he grabbed his hair and went, oh my God, oh my God. So I don't know if I have a face. I don't know. I don't look in the mirror. I stand up I say how bad is it? And he said I don't want to tell you I don't know He's panicking My mom has grabbed the dog The dog is Now knows he's done something really bad So my mom has grabbed the dog Grabbed the dog And is going to like Lock him up in her room And I This is overly dramatic of me But I don't know if I have A fucking face I call 911 I said I'm I was bit in the face by my dog.

8:11My husband's freaking out. I don't know what it looks like. I don't know how bad it is. I don't know if I should drive myself to the hospital or if someone needs to treat me on the way to the hospital. She said, well, send a fire truck over. No problem. I said, thank you. I don't want to be dramatic. I don't, whatever. So I get very pragmatic. I literally said to Davide, like, I'm on my period. So I don't know how long I'm going to be at the hospital. I said, I was like, I need, I need you to grab sweatpants. And he was like, I can't, I said, okay, I'll do it. So I went upstairs, I put on an outfit, I grabbed an extra sweater, I grabbed cozy shoot, like, you know, stuff.

8:47No way. I was like, do I need a phone charger? You know, whatever you need to like, by the way, any of you ever, if you're like, need to go to the emergency room, you should grab things that you, you know, cause now we've done the, had to go to the emergency room with kids, like grab things to make it a comfortable few hours or however many tons of hours you're going to be in the hospital. I come downstairs. The fire truck is pulled up. I walk myself outside. I said, I don't want to be dramatic. I'm so sorry. I don't know how bad this bite is. I don't want to waste your time. And they said, I still have not looked in the mirror.

9:23I took my hands off of my face because God had just handed me a towel right away. They said, you can drive yourself to the hospital. Now I'm, now I'm screaming. Why did he do this? Why did he do this? Why did he do this? Why did he do this? At no point did I, oh my God, so fucking lame of me to cry. At no point have I looked at myself. I'm freaking out because I'm like, can we keep this dog now? Like, I love him. Why did he do? And so I'm saying to the fireman, like, I love the dog. I love the dog. I love the dog. And the guy said, dude, this has happened to me. Like, I know it's so hard. Like you just never know animals are animals.

10:08Like, you know, they're all like, Davide goes to get the car. He drives the car down the driveway so fast that the firemen at the bottom of the driver were like, Jesus. And I was like, he has no chill. He's freaking out. Like they were like, God. And they looked at him and they were like, buddy, calm down. Your wife is calm. It was like very funny. We've been making fun of him for this ever since.

Stream good guys every Monday, wherever you get your podcasts. Apple, Spotify, anywhere. You know what? Don't listen.

14:25we go to the hospital I still have not looked in the mirror at all but I walk in and they were like oh shit because I'm covered in blood and it didn't take long thank god by the way I still have not looked at my nose in the mirror the fireman put like gauze and tape on it but I haven't looked at it. I did something stupid and I'm on text with the sweet girl who works for Humane Society who was like a huge advocate for Toto. And she was the one who had him at the adoption event. She's this beautiful, darling Italian girl who like came to LA to work in fashion and is like such a good person that she stopped working in fashion to work at the Pasadena Humane Society and like advocate for all these animals.

15:06I should not have, but I texted her and I said, the dog bit me and she told the humane society. So they sent someone to the house to like get the dog to put him in quarantine because their protocol is if a dog bites someone, it needs to go in quarantine. So now I don't know why I snitched like that. So now I'm, I call my mom and I'm like, dude, they like, they're, they're going to send like a fucking person to come get the dog. And now my mom and I are screaming like, we don't want to take the dog. We don't want to take the dog. And Davide was like, why did you tell her? And I was like, I don't know.

15:45I panicked. Like, I don't know. I panicked. And like, I don't want them to take the dog. Like the dog's not violent. The dog, I did something. I put myself in a dumb position, but we definitely weren't ready to like go through the trauma of me having a nose bite and then him being taken away. Because also, So by the way, like when he's in the shelter, he completely shuts down. So shut down. He's so scared in there. They had to, they had him on three trazodones a day in the shelter just to let, he wasn't eating. It took him days to acclimate to our house, days to feel comfortable eating food. It was like, he was so shut down and we'd gotten him to this place where he was like such a good, happy dog.

16:23And like, I put myself in a position to do something really stupid. And then Dovide's like, we can't share this online. And so now I'm like, you're right. We can't because everyone's going to fucking judge me and us for having this dog in our house and advocating for adoption. And everyone's going to be like, you have your kids around these wild animals and look at stupid Pia. And she's so irresponsible. Like, you know, telling people to bring these wild animals into their home. Like, I'm just going through all the things that I know. By the way, like anytime I post something, I know what all of you are going to say.

16:54Not all of you. Most of you are nice. I know what the tiny percentage of judgmental assholes are going to say. I can hear it. And so now I'm like, whatever. So I'm in the emergency room. I go, they bring us into a room. At that point, I take the gauze off and I look in the mirror and my nose is open from just below my eyebrow to almost like the tip. It's sliced open, like, Oh, like flap open. And I was like, fuck man, that's a deep fight. Like, and it, and it was so, it's so crazy. And I said this, like for how much I care about like taking care of myself and how I look at no point was I like, Oh my face.

17:45I just kept saying like the dog, the dog, the dogs. And then the people show up at the house when I'm at the hospital, obviously. And my mom's screaming. And Davide gets on the phone with the officer and he's like, the dog is our property. And the guy said, yes, the dog is your property. So I'm like, so you can't take our property from us. And he was like, no, like it is your property. And I was like, you're not taking the dog. Like we will, we're going to figure this out. So we came up with a situation where the dog was mostly, you know, outside a lot during the day, obviously not near the kids.

18:22We like, it was like a, however many, you know, he went, what was it? Two weeks or something, 10 days in between this happening. And we would give him the trazodone that the, that the Humane Society gave us when we adopted him. They were like, you know, he has a lot of anxiety, but that had gone away. So he didn't need it anymore. Every day we gave him the trazodone. So he was very calm, really sleepy. It was fucking felt sad. Kept him outside a lot, kept him away from the kids and just kind of like, you know, he was on like a very tight rope over here, but he's not like a violent dog. And, and the whole time I kept thinking like, I have this huge, you know, whatever, like this whole thing happened.

19:09And I just keep thinking to myself, like, how am I going to tell people what happened? Because I was just so scared of everybody judging me. It's just so crazy because I understand everyone's perspective. Here's how I feel. I've said this before. Here's how I feel when anything happens. Say a friend in a friend group makes a bad decision, right? And there's going to be five, say it's a group of six people and the sixth person, you know, has an affair or decides to leave her husband or, you know, whatever. The five remaining people's opinions are all going to be vastly different based solely off of their own life experience.

19:57It could be like normal for, you know, if somebody grew up with like divorced parents that that happened to, they could be like, you know, they're going to be like less judgmental or think it's like less of a life changing big deal than another person in the friend group who has no history of divorce in her family, has never known anybody who's cheated on anybody. You know, those are gonna be like two vastly different. So if, if I understand if somebody has never had a dog, has never adopted a dog, has only had like a little dog or a golden retriever, or like, I mean, Jennifer Lawrence gave an interview that came out last week where she said when she gave birth to her first child, she got rid of her dog because she viewed the dog as a threat to her child.

20:41Would I do that? Clearly not. Do I judge her for it? I'm sure that Jennifer Lawrence found a great home for her animal. I would hope she didn't drop it off in a shelter or something, but I'm sure she did. And so I like to assume the best of people. A lot of people sent that interview to me to be like, outraged by it. I was like, this is what makes sense for her unit, for her family unit. This is like, and it frees me of like being mad about something. But I know that people who don't have a lot of dog experience are going to look at me and be like, this fucking crazy woman is bringing like dangerous animals into their house with their kids.

21:22And by the way, some of my very close friends who don't have dogs and have never been like a big dog family, when I would call them and they said like, what happened? You know, and I said, Toto bit me. They would be like you, like one of them flat out said to me, you know my opinion. That dog should be out of your house. And I said to her, I absolutely understand how you feel that way. Completely. But I'm not, I don't judge her for that. She wants me, she wants me and my kids to be safe. I get it.

21:56So we decided to keep him in the meantime. I'm, you know, we told officers to go away. My mom's very emotionally attached to the dog. We knew we were putting Nina, that Nina was going to heaven in the next two weeks. Toto and Nina sleep with my mom in her room. It was just like a lot at once for my mom, especially. Right. So we decided that we were going to find like the best possible trainer. I interviewed five different people. I definitely wanted him to go away for a long time. by the way, I'm also getting DMs from people at this time being like, when I said like, oh, Toto's going off to be trained next week or whatever.

22:38I posted something saying like, letting Toto enjoy the last days of being on the couch before he gets sent off for training. And like the amount of people that messaged me telling me I was a bad person for sending him to training was, but again, one of them was like from Italy. And I was like, yeah, I get it. Like, you guys don't do that there. Like, I don't judge you for judging me. That's all you know. So, you know, she was like, why would you send him to another place where he's going to be scared and needs to get acclimated? But I just think we need to make the dog a dog. And he's there for a month.

23:07This guy's amazing. What I like about the guy that we picked is that he teaches the dogs to be off leash. Not that I would ever walk around off leash, but they're trained that well. They're in his house with him. They take them to restaurants. They take them on group walks. And he does these really cool meetups. like three out of four Saturdays a month, people meet up and go on walks. He does this cool thing where he makes all the dogs sit and like lay down and you put the leash down and the owner walks away and they all have to sit like that for however many minutes. Like it's a very, it's like a continue, it's like a lifestyle is like maintaining the training of this dog.

23:45And that's what it really needs to be. Are we the type of home that can keep up with that level of training? I don't know. My mom, one of our like biggest fights that we get into all the time is she's every time she's like in the kitchen, she's feeding these dogs, whatever's on the counter. It bothers me for a multitude of reason. It's taught them to beg. It's it gives them gas. It gives them skin issues. You know, I pay all this fucking money for nice dog food and then they are farting and feel like shit because she's giving them like a bite of everything she's taking a bite of. Again, do I judge my mom for it?

24:21No, she's a cute grandmother. What do grandmothers do? They spoil everything around them. It's adorable. She wants that dog wrapped in a blanket, in its own blanket, next to her, laying on a fur blanket, wrapped in a blanket next to her every night. What a sweet angel person. Does that help maintain boundaries? No. The dogs hang on her, and they jump on her and she rewards it with kisses and treats and love. And so, and me too, me too. And Davide works from fucking, he's gone from like nine to seven every day, six days a week. He's gone for two weeks right now traveling, you know? So it's us maintaining this.

25:03So that's like the conversation that we need to have realistically when he gets back. it's a real thing also by the way I just want to shout out Dr. Payman from Plastic Docs because I FaceTimed him from the hospital and was like can you get you know is there anything I need to ask for specifically for the scar on my face like you know should I should they you know I don't know I don't know anything and he was an angel and he said I'm sitting on my couch my office is five minutes away from me it'll only take you 30 minutes to get to Beverly Hills from Pasadena right now. I have no problem getting up.

25:39It'll take me 10 minutes to stitch it up. So we drove over to Beverly Hills and he stitched my nose up and took the stitches out and it is healing so well and it looks amazing. And I feel zero type of way about it. We're going to micro need the lid and it's like all the privileged things that I have access to. It's fine. I can't believe, I'm so grateful he got my nose. He didn't get my lips. He didn't get my fucking eyes. He didn't get one of the kids, you know, like everything that you're thinking about the situation I have considered and thought about. Anyway, I went on about that for way too fucking long.

26:17And then the same day I got the stitches out in Beverly Hills. I came home and we put Nina. So sad, you guys. This like beautiful woman came to the house. She was so fucking sweet. and she was late because the family before also had a pit bull and they had such a hard time putting the pit bull down and they like couldn't do it and there was like a fucking dead pit bull in the back of her fucking car but she like had a blanket over him and she put flowers like fresh flowers on the body and she came here to do nina and it was so sweet she like sat on the couch with us. We gave her a bunch of cheese and then she gives her, she gave her like a sedative first.

27:02It was so funny because I was like holding her. She gave her the sedative. So it was like kind of right in my face. She like shoots it in her back and it was like a bright yellow color. And it reminded me of like the poison in Romeo and Juliet. And then she just conked out, like completely conked out, was like so sedated and just like floating. And then they gave her the shot that, you know, it's so cute and sad about Nina. She's because she's white. She's really pink. She's like such a little piglet. And she has like little black spots like that you can see when her fur is wet, especially she's like a little spotted cow pig.

27:41And she was laying on my mom's lap. And then I had my face in her face and she just went from pink to white. Her little ears turned white. It was like, oh. Oh. And like the saddest photo that I have, which is like so cute. And then like Davide and the woman like carried her little body out on like a little gurney. She was like wrapped in a blanket. And they picked flowers from our garden and like laid them on her. And they, we picked the option where she gets like group cremated and that gets thrown into the beach in Newport, which we want to make like a dark joke. Like we've had my dad's ashes for seven years, almost eight years.

28:25And his request was to be cremated and like thrown in the beach in Newport where his like grandparents had a beach house, you know, forever ago and they sold it, which that thing would have been worth so much money now. But, you know, they bought a beach house for like 30 grand on the beach, like on F Street. my god if they had kept that it would be insane but that was like his most fond memories of being on the beach with his grandparents were in Newport and Miramar and Santa Barbara when he was little you know it's so whatever you know in the back in the day like you could buy a house and go on vacation as like a normal working you know they owned a deli they didn't have like copious amount of money.

29:02They were immigrants, but you were able to afford such nice little things. And he wants to be buried or he wants to have his ashes dropped off there. And we just keep putting it off or like, we'll book a date. It's been so fucking funny that Nina's getting dumped in Newport before Chuck. But I got Nina, like I've been with Davide this month. It'll be 10 years since we met. And I had Nina with my ex-boyfriend. So think about how long I've had this dog. because I got Nina. I can't, I've like blocked out that part of my life so much that I've tried to do the math. I definitely had Nina for like at least a year with that person.

29:46And then there was definitely a year in between that person and I breaking up and me meeting Davide. So I probably, Yeah. So like she was at least with me for two, maybe even three years. And when, when that person and I broke up, we had two dogs. Nina was a girlfriend to a dog named Bruno, who was like the best dog of all time. Another pit bull, like a black and white pit bull. And they were really, really bonded and they should have never been split up. That person should have taken both of them. But I get it was a lot for this person to take two animals, but like they should have never been split up because she was a mess when we got her from the shelter.

30:29She had been clearly mistreated. Nina's ears were cut off with scissors. She had just given birth. She had like huge nipples. Like she literally gave birth and then they dropped her at the shelter. And she was only a couple of days away from being euthanized. She's deaf. Nobody knew what to do with like a deaf dog that like looked all scary with her little ears cut, but she was just so cute. And somebody posted about her and I just went and got her. I didn't even think about it. It was so funny. Like I didn't know how to train a deaf dog. I didn't, you know, I just, but for some reason I would, and I wasn't even like looking for a dog, but I had to have her and she was just a great, sweet angel animal.

31:06But we, there was a really tough time when she was separated from that dog. She had developed severe anxiety and couldn't be alone, could not be alone. And I moved into a house in the Hollywood Hills with a girlfriend was like perfect timing. And I loved living there and I loved living with her and we had the best time, but I couldn't leave Nina at home. And so I went to the vet. I said, I don't know what to do. Like if I leave her at home, she has a meltdown and she broke down a door, like scratched through a gate, like really, really bad. Like she had, she, yeah, meltdown. And so they were like, oh, you know what?

31:44You can drug her, put her in a crate. And so one night we went to a party and I was like, let's just test that. We went to a party that was like walking distance from our house, which is crazy, but like there was a party so close. So we walked down the street and I was gone for maybe 20 minutes. And I was like, I'm going to walk back and just check on Nina. And I have photos of it in my phone, even with the anti-anxiety medication that was like supposed to sedate her pretty well. She banged her head so many times through the crate in that 20 minutes that she bent the metal so much that she had opened a metal crate and her face was all swollen.

32:21And I just thought to myself, I'm the worst person on the planet for leaving her even for that 20 minutes. The doctor was like, she'll be totally fine. I mean, even my roommate at the time was like, I've never seen anything like this. We were just here. So I never left her side from that. so like when I would go out to dinner with friends she would come in the car with me and like she would literally if she couldn't come into the restaurant the car would be parked right outside the restaurant with the window down and I would be like in a table where I could see her and I would get out and check on her I did that a few times then I started bringing her to my parents house yeah they had a dog at the time named Freeman who was a pit bull and and then they started to bond and then it got to the point where I was like well they're gonna need like Nina needs to live with you.

33:07She was so much happier here. I mean, I took her to work. She was a total ref babe. She went to work with me every day at reformation office. So fucking cute. And then, you know, that was probably, she lived with my parents or probably Oh God, I don't know. Maybe like a year before like the Davide moved here and my dad passed away and then we ended up all moving in here together. So obviously we were back with her and we try and like, we would bring her with us. Like when David and I were like living for a few months in Venice, when he moved here, we would like pick her up and she would come hang out with Chi Chi and us and like, but she like loved being like, once she like came to my parents' house, she was back to feeling like a settled, happy dog and like loved being bonded with Freeman and they slept together.

33:53Like, you know, she was just like, ah, like I need a house and a partner basically. And, and you know, my parents were like home all day. So there was, it was like good for her, for her anxiety. So my, you know, mom just got so bonded to her. And then Nina just like got really bonded with my mom and Nina slept with her every night in the last few years. She just like slowed down so much. And then the last couple of weeks, not a couple of weeks, last couple of months, she's been incontinent. So she's just been like, you know, pooping all over the house and throwing up a lot of her food. Like we were just like, like we are just dragging this on for too long.

34:28It was really like starting to get really sad. So I feel like, you know, we feel like very settled that we did the right thing and that she's in the right place. But like, definitely like even last night at dinner, my mom and I were sitting there, we're like eating our soup. And then she just goes, I miss Nina. I'm like, I know I do too. She was just like such a little like mainstay in our house, you know, just like, I miss the sound of her little paws walking around. It's definitely been weird going from four dogs to two dogs. It feels very quiet, even though Nutella and Chi bark a lot. It feels very, very quiet in here.

35:00It's definitely been an adjustment, but I have to tell you also, like, it feels really nice in a fucking selfish way. Like for me, it's like the more the merrier. Like if we have room and we have love to give, like we should be saving, you know, if I didn't have to work so much, like I'd love to be a foster parent. Like there's just so many things that I would love to do to extend like the love of our home to people and animals that need it. And that's my intention for everything. So it does feel sad, you know, to just have this level of quietness, but hopefully one day, you know, I can do more and help more and more time.

35:46We are into the new year and January for me still and into February is really like the two months that I really work on kind of setting myself up for the year. I know that it sounds cheesy, but I think it's important. And so I like to reset. I like to clear things out. That's habits, energy, and definitely my system. So some people do die January. That's not for me. No judgment either way, but I'm leaning more into support of my body detox pathways this month. So I'm using Wish Garden Herbs, which is one of my favorite companies on the planet. They have fast acting liquid herbal formulas designed to support your liver, kidneys and lymph.

36:22These are the organs that basically take the trash out. So they help your body do what they already know how to do just more efficiently. I love these two blends specifically. It's the Deep Cleanse and the Clear Complexion. Deep Cleanse is a gorgeous internal refresh. So if you've been sluggish or heavy, this blend really helps support like the natural detox and your cellular health. Honestly, it's given me like a really gorgeous glow. especially in combination with the clear complexion, which helps with any sort of breakout. And that happens when your detox pathways are overloaded. So the combo of this gives you healthy skin because healthy skin really starts with your organs.

36:56It supports hydration, cellular turnover, and helps move all the toxins out. So the glow can really come through. And if you are drinking this month, like me, you need the party prep. Party prep is unbelievable. I take it before I drink. I take it the morning after. I feel no hangover. And I also have to scream from the rooftop that they have an immunity booster. Carmela had a stuffy nose this weekend and I shoved that stuff in her mouth for two days in a row and her cold completely went away. It is a miracle worker. So own your health, drink your herbs, go to wishgardenherbs.com and use code everything for 20 % off.

39:44And then I had, um, I had hernia surgery and I had a leap at the same time. So here's my message for you ladies is I had a precancerous cells come back in a pap. They showed up one time, then they were gone and then they came back again. And I get a pap every year. And my OB said, listen, if these show up again in your next pap, we're going to take the next step and we'll get a leap and remove some of your cervix. But this is before Carlo that showed up. She said, you know, I know that you're planning for another baby and the leap could lead to potential complications for pregnancy for delivering another child.

40:26So she's like, it's not detrimental right now. Like you have some time. So, you know, I got pregnant. I had Carlo and I was really anxious in my appointments after to continue to test for this. so I had a pap and in that appointment I said to her you know my hernia is getting really bad and I've been avoiding getting hernia surgery I had it before Carlo also but I was like I'm gonna have another baby I don't want to get like mesh surgery and then whatever so she said you know see this doctor he's like in our same building he's like part of Huntington I was like okay so I ended up getting in with him like that Monday and his cute wife runs the office and she said, babe, like you've hit your deductible.

41:08We got to like squeeze the surgery before the new year. Otherwise it's good. You're going to have to pay for the surgery. And I was like, God damn it. So I scheduled it for the 30th. I'm like, I don't have any new year's plans, whatever. And I was like, that's a nice time to get surgery over a break because having to take time off during work is really hard. And even just seeing emails come in, like when I'm sick and I can't like answer them, it just gives me so much anxiety. So I was like, let's just do it over the holiday for my mental health also. And then I scheduled that surgery. And then the next day my doctor called me and she said, those pre-cancerous cells are there.

41:44It's time for the leap. And I said, she's like, I can do it on the 30th. I said, that's so funny. I'm seeing Dr. Powell on the 30th for my hernia surgery. She said, great. That's my, that's my surgery day. I will come in and do it while you're under anesthesia. Cause otherwise it's in the office and it's uncomfortable. I was like, great. Just load me up. And I will say like, as much as I love both of these people deeply and I will like go to war with my OB. I love her so much. I've been through two pregnancies with her. Like I love her. It wasn't fully explained to me kind of like what recovery would be like for both of those things.

42:23And I hate to be like, I mean, male doctors don't, cause this man is nice and I don't want to judge him, but he definitely fucking downplayed this surgery and was like, a lot of men don't even need pain pills. And I literally said to him, I wish you didn't say that. I wish you didn't say that. I wish you didn't say that because so many men say that to female patients. And I really like you. And I like your wife who runs your office. And if a doctor said that to your wife, I'm sure you'd be pissed. Like, why did you say that? And it's the same thing about I feel about Toto. I did you bite me? Like, we didn't have to, we could just be cool.

43:00Like, oh my God. But he downplayed it and I was in so much fucking pain. And there was three incision spots. They did it laparoscopically, but like, you know, they make three holes and then blow you up with fucking air and like put the little tools in there to like insert the mesh and like to push your hernia back down through the muscles. And so, you know, all your muscles are stretched out and your skin is stretched out and you have incisions and I like couldn't engage my core at all. And the leap, I just felt, you know, my insides were hurting and like weird stuff was happening that didn't, no one told me it was going to happen.

43:40And it was a fucking weird recovery. Like, and I was crude, like I was like, Oh my God. Like I, I'm, you know, no issues with anesthesia. This is going to be great. Like no problem. I was like, I was like in the surgery room, like making jokes with the doctors, like saying to the anesthesiologist, I'm can't fucking wait for my power nap. Like, you know, it's been a busy year. And they were like, yeah, you know, and I was talking about football and I was like, okay, guys, like see you on the other side. And then I woke up and I was so nauseous. And my mommy came to get me because Dabi Day was at work.

44:18He dropped me off and went with me to pre-op and everything. And then my mom came to pick me up and I was like, well, I woke up and I was like, why am I so nauseous? And the nurse was like, oh, we had to give you a lot of Norco. And I was like, what are you talking about? I thought this was like a chill thing. And then she was like, okay, let's go through your, you know, you can't pick up your kids for four weeks. And I was like, what? I can't pick up my kids for four weeks. I You can't pick them up for four weeks. All I do is pick them up. You can't do this. You can't do that. And I was like, oh, God.

44:50Like, none of, I mean, listen, I had to do it and there was no better time than that. But I was just like, oh, OK. That was really painful. And, you know, being bed rotting for four days was ultimately like a good thing for me to do. But, you know, it was really hard. And I had to hire babysitters to come help with the kids, do bath time and stuff. I was up here because Davide works late every night and it was definitely, but it's fine. It was a fucking hernia surgery, but you know, it definitely required recovery. I want to say that I want all of you to advocate for pap smears and, and testing for this.

45:32And I want to admit to you all that the impetus for, I mean, what caused the precancerous cells is that I have HPV and nobody talks about that at all because people have shame around it. And I don't. I'm not ashamed of anything in that way. Like I don't like whatever it happens. And, you know, I like 90 % of my friends also have it and a lot of my family members. And, but why, you know, I don't know if they still do this, but like when I, like 20 years ago, everybody was like, you have to get the HPV vaccinations. You don't get HPV because it can cause cervical cancer. And I got the vaccination, it clearly didn't work.

46:23And so, you know, it's a very common thing and this is a nice preventative measure. And I know as soon as I said I had a leap, I had a million people tell me that they had one too. So our inside joke is that we're HPV warriors. We are warriors of having a good time in our twenties. And you know, these are the fucking annoying things that women have to do. and we did it. And so here I am, a new year, new me with a few bumps in the road entering 2026. But I feel like I did a lot of shedding and I got a nice little lesson in slowing down. I had in my head that I was going to hit the new year full speed ahead, going super hard.

47:09And it actually allowed me to transition into this year very slowly with a lot of intention. So outside of my therapist, I also hired, I've been like working with a life coach and I'm excited for that. That's helping me like, you know, move forward and structure my days and be intentional and add prayer to my life on a daily basis as like a way to like ground myself and set intentions and be really thoughtful about everything that I do. And so it was all like a good thing. I'm healthy. I didn't get hit by a car. I don't have a fucking disease. I live and stay in gratitude. But I just want you all to know that you should really check.

47:57Get your paps. And a lot of you were asking, like, how do you know you have a hernia? You fucking feel it. I had a huge bulge in between my pubic bone and my thigh. You couldn't see it. You start at the end, you could start to like, only if I was in underwear and you're intimately next to me, but you could feel it. I would literally be at the gym in my workout pants and I'd be like, oh my God, to my girlfriend's, do you want to feel my fucking hernia? Yeah, you definitely know if you have one because it's like a full, it protrudes through your, it's your intestines protruding through your muscles.

48:37Just so gross and weird to say, but it is what it is. It wasn't affecting me physically in any way. Like I know it can lead to people getting constipation or like, like none of, I lived with it totally fine. But when it's that bad and you can feel it, cause this is really bad. I used to feel it and then I would push it back in and it would stay in for a couple of days and then it would come back. And then it got to the point where I couldn't push it back in. Sorry. So gross. But that's that. I wonder if I should answer any of these questions that I got. That's a lot. Maybe we'll answer like a fun one so we can end on a good note.

49:15Talk about the lead up to the LPA launch party. Oh my God. This is because I had my 2000. So you guys are really, you guys are the best.

49:28Someone said, no question. I'm going to miss when you're super rich and not posting so much of yourself. Thank you. Talk about the lead up to the 2016 LPA launch party. That's a fun way to end this. So I was so nervous. So what you guys need to know contextually is 10 years ago, there were many less brands. There were lots of brands, obviously, but the way that so many people have brands now, especially so many influencers have brands, which by the way is genius and amazing. And I hope continues to happen, but it's become way more common now. There were like, so because of that, there was just like much more attention on the whole thing.

50:15So I worked on the brand, I think for a year before we launched and we did, you know, we did wholesale, we sold at Saks. I have this like really cute video where we like launched at Saks with me and Chi Chi as a puppy, like running through Saks with Avenue in New York at night, like moving our, okay. Oh, we, anyway, it was awesome. And we had a showroom and like Kim Kardashian came to like, look at the collection before it launched. Like it was so nuts. And I was sickly nervous, but you know, the whole brand, I should post my old mood boards. I have these like sick fucking collages that I did that were really cool, which by the way, are like still, they're like timeless.

50:58Like they've aged perfectly. It's like tons of photos of Chloe Sevigny and like Daria Warburwee. And I was like, the brand at first had like a lot of, there were like really beautiful silk slip dresses, but like a lot of sweatshirts that had embroidery on them. It was really fun. And we kept, you know, the way that you're supposed to design a brand is like, who is this girl? And where is she? And what is her life like? And what is she doing? And where is she going? And what are the clothes that she needs for what she's doing? It's this very intentional. You have this very clear idea of who this girl is.

51:37And I just kept saying to myself, I loved New York and I didn't want to move back to LA, but I did because my dad was getting older and kind of just like more sick. And I knew that I would regret like pushing my career forward in New York in the way that I was and build more of a life. If I put more roots there, it would be harder for me to come back. And so I moved back. And at the time, it was totally fine with work because Reformation had offices in New York and LA. So I just transitioned to, you know, part time in the offices in LA and that's whatever. And then LPA launched. So I always longed for New York, especially when I moved back here.

52:25And then especially when I went through a breakup and then like after the breakup is when, can I tell you something? If you're in a fucking relationship and you feel like your life is fucking stagnant and your relationship feels kind of sticky and it's not progressing, but you think that you're supposed to be with somebody because of your age or like you live together or you just feels entangled and like the untangling feels too hard in the moment. I am begging you to fucking God to untangle it. Because if you have any sort of fucking question that the person that you're with is not the person that you're supposed to be with, if your bones are not screaming, I love this person, I have to be with him, I would die without him, him, she, them, whoever it is.

53:15If you lay in bed with somebody and you are not vibrating with the desire to be with said person, fucking break up. breakup because the years that I was with, the person that I was with before my husband, nothing progressed in my life at all. Career-wise, emotionally, physically, I was the same person. I think it was two years. I was like, I've never in my life experienced something like that. I can pull a reason that something happened out of mostly, there are two things that have happened to me in my life where I'm like, big things that have happened where I'm like, I don't fucking know why that happened.

54:12Like, I don't know what the, I don't know that that was so traumatic and I don't know what the lesson is. One of them I'm not going to talk about. The other one is me dating this person. the only thing I can piece together is that I needed like time needed to pass in order for me to meet Davide because it almost was like time paused because nothing progressed. And the moment that I untangled myself, and by the way, like I, it was my call I untangled. And then I panicked and was like, no, no, no, we should get back together. We should get back together. We should get back together. And then that person was like, I don't want to be with you.

54:46And then I was like, lost my fucking mind. And I remember my friend telling me at the time, babe, rejection is God's protection. I fucking promise you this is for a reason. You know, they could like, my girlfriends were like, dude, like you don't want to be with this person. Like you were not your best self, like move on. And thank God. Like then it was like my career just exploded because it was supposed to. And because I wasn't supposed to do it with this previous person. and I wish this previous person nothing, you know, it like only speaks volumes to me in my life that somebody that I spent my time with in my life is thriving in their own life, right?

55:29Like it only, I don't wish ill on anybody that I spent any time with in my life because what if it's not good for anybody, but you know, whatever, but we were not meant to be together at all. And so that's why things didn't progress. And so, and you see this happening a lot, right? Where someone will be in a relationship for like eight years and like nothing really happens. And then they break up and they meet the person they're supposed to be with like a month later and things progress like so fast. Like it's so crazy when that happens. So anyway, I digress. The party was like, where is this girl on a Friday night?

56:09And I was like, she's at a fucking rooftop party downtown. That's like a fucking rager. And so a friend of mine at the time worked with this company that I think like rents props and like does like build outs for sets. And so they have this like big warehouse with its like sick rooftop. And I was like so nervous that nobody was going to come. Virgil and I had known each other for a really long time, Virgil Abloh. and he was like my biggest advocate and like biggest mentor through building and launching LPA. Like to the point where like I would get like interviews with brands. Like I was on Hypebeast.

56:49It was like Virgil Abloh co-signs like the launch of LPA because he would literally just like send a text to a writer and be like, yo, like this is going to be the next big brand. Like P is amazing. Like blah, blah, blah, blah. Nobody. Another thing that is senseless that has happened on this planet is him dying. Nobody ever, ever made other people pop off or cared so much about other people than Virgil. And everybody who talked shit about him when he was alive should be fucking ashamed of themselves. I'm thinking of one Instagram account in particular that just loved to savage him. And like, for what?

57:30Like nobody in the industry brought up so many people, was so connecting, was so loving, was so busy, but like remembered somebody like he was a magnificent once in a fucking lifetime, unbelievable human being. And so he generously offered to DJ and we locked in this roof and we like put together this guest list and we dressed everybody. And, you know, it was like the first time that I had like utilized my network of people that I had known for the last 10 years to like come to something and be a part of this thing. And I remember being like so fucking nervous. It was like the first time I got my hair and makeup done.

58:15And I was like freaking out. We like get to the party. And then like, I'm not kidding, maybe like 30 minutes later, like the girls at the door were like, there's a line around the block. And I was like, you're kidding. And my phone was blowing up with people being like, can you pull me like I'm outside. And I would be like, what the fuck? Like, and it was packed and everybody was there. And my really good friend at the time, who was the one that connected us with the people who owned the building, set off fucking fireworks. And so it's like, everybody's partying. Diplo showed up, like just came to a party that he heard about and then like jumped behind the DJ booth and started DJing with Virgil.

58:53So I'm on stage with the two of them, like jumping up and down. I cannot believe that Diplo is just like has shown up on his own and was like, let me like, can you imagine? Like you can't, you can't do to pay Diplo to DJ is what? Like a hundred thousand fucking dollars. And he was just like, Oh my God, like, let me do it. It was insane. It was insane. Then we all went to an after party afterwards. I was like up till the sun rose. Like it was just the most stressful, scariest, most like nerve wracking. I felt like I wasn't good enough. And like all eyes were on me, you know, just like questioning everything.

59:33And the collection blew out and like, it got picked up with like the best wholesalers. And it was just the best. It was like one of the most fun fights. We did like the LPA parties at the beginning, like We had a two year or we had a one year anniversary party at a house in the hills that was fucking sick. And then the next morning I woke up in the New York Times had done a profile on me and I was on the cover of the Thursday style times. And so to like have that party come out the night before or have that. Yeah, it was or have that party the night before and wake up in the morning and like go to the newsstand and was like really surreal.

1:00:18and then we did that party in Paris one year. I did like a collab with Aaron Boston. We had another party another year. Like we did this party in Paris that was like an hour. It wasn't an hour. It was like 30 minutes outside of Paris. During fashion week, we rented a castle. Everybody fucking came to that party. It was so fucking cool. Tremaine and A-Side DJed. Like we kept having, the people kept coming out and being like, hi, like your time. And we were like, what do we need to pay? Like Risa and MM from Revolve were like, no, no, no. Like, well, here's like, we'll call you a check. Like what you, we can't kick everybody out.

1:00:48like people are still showing up. Like it was insane. It was insane. It was so fun. It was like the celebrities that showed up to that part. And it was like, we didn't pay anyone to be there. That was also something that was like really important to me. I was like, I don't want to like pay anybody to come to any of the LPA things. Like I want people to want to be here. And the, and it was like, Oh my God, it was just absolutely fucking surreal. And so, so, so fun. And I think it's really just a different time now and really hard and interesting to do things in that way. And that's a whole separate podcast, an entire separate podcast.

1:01:25Yeah. But it was a time. I did my 2016 post and I was like, maybe I peaked 10 years ago. And I was like, no, I didn't because the brand is still here and it still does really well. And I'm like a mom. I evolved into a different thing. And I think the launch of Barron Cheney and like entering into like my next chapter in adulthood is obviously very much what I'm supposed to be doing moving forward. So, all right. I love you guys. That was a fucking tangent, but you guys always say you want solos, even though I feel so stupid talking to myself. I hope all of you are entering this year feeling invigorated.

1:02:09Hopefully not looking at the news too much. My God. If I could give you any advice, it would be to open your eyes in the morning, not grab your phone right away, put your hand on your heart, take a couple deep breaths and picture a glowy light all around your body. You are enveloped in light and you walk through your day and your emails and your everything surrounded by a bubble of light where negative things cannot intercept anything that you're working on. Your thoughts or physical health, your friendships, your work, nothing. All right. Love you guys.

Hi! Here's a breakdown of the little cluster-fuck that was the start to my year, including the dog, incident, getting a minor lil surgery and what I learned from slowing down. I also answered some of your questions and went on a lil tagent about the importance of breaking up. Also I cry, duh.
