Guests/hosts
Hosts are Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright (no additional guests mentioned).
Key claims and notable examples
- Waiver/FAB: “Zero dollar bids” can still win; in a new “Chopped League,” Malik Neighbors fell to waivers and 551 of $1,000 was spent.
- Confirmed take: Michael Pittman is mispriced; when Anthony Richardson isn’t playing, Pittman has been a consistent WR2 (double-digit fantasy points in most games).
- Shaky take: Caleb Johnson may be droppable if usage stays low; concern about Kenneth Gainwell out-snapping Jalen Warren.
- Other takes: JSN looks like a true alpha; doubts about Justin Fields/Garrett Wilson after Week 1; Jordan Mason could become a goal-line/efficient carry back; Ken Walker’s ADP looks shaky (under 4 yards/carry, no big runs).
- Backup options: Trevor Lawrence vs. Bengals; Caleb Williams if available; RBs like Trey Benson/DJ Giddens/Kendra Miller/Will Shipley; WRs like Juju Smith-Schuster; TEs like Johnnie Smith/Hunter Henry/Dalton Kincaid (snap share concerns).
- News: Christian Watson extension; George Kittle placed on IR (misses next four games); Thursday preview favors Packers defense; Jordan Love is playable but not a guaranteed top-5 fantasy QB.

1:17Jason Moore:Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright.
1:34Mike Wright:Welcome in!
1:42Andy Holloway:I don't know what we're doing. I saw him do it, so I did it.
1:46Mike Wright:Wednesday, September 10th, show 1800.
1:51Andy Holloway:Oh, is it really?
1:53Mike Wright:Oh, turn of the century.
1:58Jason Moore:Thanks, Benjamin Franklin. What was... What? We're in the 1800s now.
2:07Mike Wright:I just stared at Jason during the welcome in because he said he got thrown off yesterday.
2:14Jason Moore:Oh. So I was trying to throw him off again. No, you didn't. I was too busy staring at the screen that is waiting to run waivers. I went to change a bid, and it said... Oh, no. It said the player you are bidding on is no longer available, meaning it's run, but it is not yet displaying to us. That is the moment we are living in.
2:35Mike Wright:Turn of the century. Welcome in. So which league are you checking on? League of Records. Okay.
2:41Jason Moore:Yeah, did you go to work? You know, so here's before it runs. I already know how it's going to happen. I decided this year I'm going a little bit harder than I usually do. I really want to add a couple of important pieces. Went hard after Huge and went hard after Kayshawn Booty. And I promise you I got neither. There's no way that what I thought. So I just went to up my biz. To me, I was$19. For each? Yeah.
3:09Mike Wright:Oh, that's pretty hard.
3:10Jason Moore:Well, okay, good. I'm happy to hear that. You're going to get both.
3:13Mike Wright:Well, no, you might not get huge, but I think you'll definitely get booty. You won't get huge. I will? You will not. Oh, okay. All right.
3:21Jason Moore:How poor Linda's. The cards are. I did slowly. I did 100 of my fab. But I did more than 18. So if you bid 18, you won't get them. Well, I bid more than 18 as well.
3:31Mike Wright:I did not bid on either of those guys. Well, no, zero dollar bids. But yeah. And now that we're just putting the cards on the table. So the most I spent was on Harold Fannin. Oh, I really wanted Harold Fannin. Well, you might have got him if you went hard.
3:45Jason Moore:How much did you bid on Harold Fannin? I think it was like 12. I went 13. Oh, son of a gun. I'm always just under.
3:53Andy Holloway:Andy, you glossed over a great point. I don't think we highlighted it yesterday. Zero dollar bids. Yeah, people. Zero dollar. If you could be looking at the waiver wire saying there is no chance. I'm just not in the position to get this player. Zero dollar bids. They go through more than you would think. Because everyone gets that mentality of like, I don't want to overbid, so I'm not going to do anything.
4:19Jason Moore:Put a zero dollar in. Yes.
4:21Andy Holloway:Sometimes things happen.
4:23Jason Moore:It is unbelievable how many times that someone gets a player that no one else bid on that. You're like, I thought everyone was going hard. Yes. I mean, you just always, if there's a player worth rostering, and you don't want to spend on them, put a$0 bid in. It's great advice. You're not going to get them in a Chopped League, though, if you put a$0 bid on. That's what I just found out.
4:44Mike Wright:Yeah, we are playing our first Chopped League ever,
4:46Jason Moore:and boy, oh boy, did people spend money in week one. Malik Neighbors was on the Chopped team, so he fell to waivers, and 551 of the$1 ,000 spent. Yeah, it seems I got nobody in that one.
4:59Mike Wright:But welcome in. We've got a fun show. The waivers are running, everyone. Yeah, sometimes it's fun when they start up here to react. But we have a great show for you today. We are going to dig into some backup options. One of our favorite things to do is drop it like it's hot. And talk about, especially after week one, people are eager to go and spend on waivers and drop players that maybe have a real future and just had a bad week one. So we'll talk about them. We've got news to get into. We've got the Thursday night preview. We've got mailbag. and we're even going to take a quick look here at our initial early takes on the season.
5:36Mike Wright:A reminder, if you want access to the customized waiver wire tool, as we talk about waivers, and the Ultimate Dashboard Lineup Optimizer and all of our premium tools and resources, it's as simple as going to jointhefoot.com, becoming an official supporter of the show, a member of the Foot Clan, and then you will have access to all of those tools year-round on the web and in the exclusive FootClan app. And you can do that at jointhefoot.com. So quick question as you two continue to stare down your waivers. I'm sorry, were you talking? Let's take a look here. One take that you feel you have gotten right after week one confirmed your opinion and one take you feel very shaky about after week one.
6:25Mike Wright:Can they both be George Kittle?
6:27Jason Moore:no i mean i mean i get it kittle's right it was it was i felt great about it on four targets in like three seconds i are um i'll i'll hop in i i would say that the the player that i'm i'm really happy with um because i i felt kind of on an island here was michael pitman um i think michael pitman i i went back i talked about it more on the dynasty episode that released today But if you look at last year in the games that Michael Pittman played without Anthony Richardson, every single game other than the one he got injured in, he was double-digit fantasy points. He was basically a wide receiver two every single week when he wasn't playing with Anthony Richardson.
7:09Jason Moore:And then you go, okay, so most of last year he was with Anthony Richardson. It was just a disaster. But what about the year prior? The year prior, he was the wide receiver 15. The year prior, he was the wide receiver 23. The year prior, he was the wide receiver 15. And then even last year, whenever he wasn't playing with Anthony Richardson, he was a wide receiver too. So now you've got Daniel Jones there, and he is the clear, to me, and so far after one week, the primary target in the wide receiver core. I believe he was mispriced and is a good wide receiver. He's also paid to be their alpha.
7:43Andy Holloway:I love Michael Pittman. I think downs will be more and more as the season goes along. I mean, he had the hamstring. Was that what it was? I can't remember. He had an injury that held him out for a good chunk there of training camp, and then he was only in the slot. But that doesn't mean I'm out on Pittman.
8:04Jason Moore:I will 100 % grant you that while I do think that Pittman is more valuable for fantasy than Josh Downs, even if Josh Downs is a better actual wide receiver, which he might be, the week one happenstance where you destroyed Miami, that does not put you in three wide receiver sets throwing the ball a ton. That's where Josh Downs will thrive because he played only in the slot. So if you don't have three wide receivers on the field, he's not going to be out there. So this is not an overreaction that Josh Downs is dead by any means from week one when you are up 30 to nothing in the blink of an eye on the Dolphins.
8:42Jason Moore:The take I am feeling shaky about, I'm holding on to that little plant, stay strong little roots, is, of course, Caleb Johnson. Caleb Johnson, my fantasy MVP, a guy that I really believe in, I really believe in the talent. I said it will start slow. He will not be on the field ahead of Jalen Warren. And my biggest fear was Arthur and Kenneth Gainwell. and week one it was Kenneth Gainwell out snapped Jalen Warren. What are you doing? But I'm feeling very shaky because I don't like liking players that don't play football.
9:21Mike Wright:The hardest part is going to be the question we're going to ask probably for three or four weeks in a row, which is do you drop Caleb Johnson? Because if he gets the exact same amount of work this next week, I think you're going to be in this place where –
9:33Jason Moore:Most everyone's going to feel they have to drop him. And I will feel contractually obligated to go pick him up.
9:39Mike Wright:So if you play in the league with me or you drop him, he will be rostered. By the way, you did get Keyshawn Booty. You did not get Quentin Johnston. Okay. That was the order that I put them in on mine. He went for 35. Great. And you did get Booty. Way too much. My take that I feel like I got right or is heading that direction is JSN being a true alpha in Seattle. Well, it was just like, what, a 50 % target share?
10:03Andy Holloway:Yeah. Not wide receiver. It was the highest on the week, right? It's the highest of all time.
10:07Mike Wright:Yeah, so JSN playing outside, Cooper Cup barely involved. Cooper Cup actually ran more routes. Wild, wild. Yeah, JSN looks real good after one week.
10:17Jason Moore:I actually went back and watched a bunch of film of JSN, and it was better than the stats, which were great.

10:22Mike Wright:Okay, yeah, that's great to hear. And then one take I feel very shaky about?
10:27Jason Moore:$31 for Juwan Johnson. Huh?
10:30Mike Wright:What league are you talking about?
10:32Jason Moore:The listener league.
10:33Andy Holloway:Oh, okay.
10:34Jason Moore:I mean, that's...
10:36Andy Holloway:Let the man talk. Sorry. We'll react to the waivers.
10:39Jason Moore:It's like seeing a spider, man. I'm not going to just not react. It's a 14-team league.
10:44Andy Holloway:I'm going to release a spider if you don't be quiet for a second.
10:47Jason Moore:Watch it.
10:48Mike Wright:No, the take I feel very quickly on the opposite side of now is my doubts around Justin Fields and Garrett Wilson, at least through one week, which, again, Mike, you brought it up, and you are the Justin Fields truther. Justin Fields can look like garbage next week. He certainly could. But right now, this was just such an impressive performance through four quarters with his passing, with his evasiveness, the rushing game, and then Garrett Wilson being that primary target constantly who should have had two touchdowns. I doubted both of those guys, feeling shaky about that take through one week.
11:24Mike Wright:We'll see what the future holds. But I had a league where I traded for Justin Fields on the cheap because I think, Mike, I asked you the question. and this maybe will help the listeners out there, Justin Herbert or Justin Fields, which Justin would you rather have rest of season? And Mike's response was essentially, Herbert's probably got the higher floor, but Justin Fields could be, if you get the right season, a league winner. Because if you can run... He can finish top three. Yeah, I mean, we've seen him do that. Now, it's going to be hard for the Jets, but it was a week one matchup against Pittsburgh's defense, and he put up big numbers.
12:00Mike Wright:So that would be the one that I feel like maybe I got wrong. I think Herbert can finish top three as well.
12:07Andy Holloway:I do not think.
12:09Jason Moore:He's literally finished as quarterback two before.
12:11Andy Holloway:I think it's possible. I guess I'd frame it as it's more likely to me that Fields finishes as top three than Herbert. There was a tweet from Jacob Gibbs who highlighted that Justin Fields had the second lowest first read target rate per fantasy data, as in Fields was going through his progressions. He wasn't just reading the fields. Nice. Swoosh. I'll take it. But yeah, like, you know, Tua, I don't know if you guys saw the stuff about, was it Howard was talking about Tua? We know that if we shut down Tua's first read, he just melts. And the fact that Fields was lower, yes, Kyle, it was Zavian Howard.
12:56Andy Holloway:The fact that Fields was actually reading and going through a progression, that is fantastic news. The take I feel pretty good about is Jordan Mason of the Minnesota Vikings and of just that. I knew that Aaron Jones is going to be involved in the passing game more than Jordan Mason. Aaron Jones was at a 15 % target share. Jordan Mason was at 5 % though. However, Mason was at 58 % of the running back carries. And just one week, but eyeball test was they tried to run a little bit with Aaron Jones at the beginning of the game. It did not work. They put Jordan Mason in and immediately chunk plays are starting to happen.
13:40Andy Holloway:So I think that that transition happens even more rapidly now of seeing what Jordan Mason can do on the ground. And then if this Vikings offense gets cooking like we think, and he's the goal line running back, I think that for where he was drafted, he's going to be a home run pick. Now, the complete opposite of that, I mean, it's with Jason. Mine's obvious. It's Ken Bone Walker of what for the Seattle Seahawks. It was a complete timeshare. it felt it didn't feel like a timeshare when you were watching it felt like it's charbs on the field all the time and he just keeps having success it really did and then every time walker got a touch it was same old same old he just i remember a quote from you which is i believe sharbs had the ball you go oh sure you blocked for sure yes it as the the walker apologist it very much felt like the team was letting him down uh but walker i think was 10 for 20 he had three receptions it's just it feels for his adp it feels incredibly shaky at this point i do think better days are ahead for walker but he what was the he may not match the adp what was the stat that i shared
14:54Mike Wright:with you the other day i think in the last seven ken walker oh that he's just he's under four a carry under for a carry um yeah he is carry in that game like he was not he has not been able
15:04Andy Holloway:to rip off a ken walker big run i do think there has been i mean because we've seen enough of him
15:10Mike Wright:i think there's a correlation between his tackle breaking and putting himself in positions to break tackles i do think that there's maybe could be a when i get the ball i'm not making the right first read situation going on after that much time with ken walker but um we'll move on talk some backup options.
15:32Jason Moore:Backup options presented by Progressive Insurance.
15:40Mike Wright:All right. Drop it like it's hot, folks. We had WaverWire go through today. We want to see which players, we want you to pay attention to which players were dropped to go pick up the new hotness. So if you didn't get the WaverWire ads, if you didn't spin up. Here are some backup options you should pay attention to. In week one, quarterbacks, what do you think?
16:03Jason Moore:Trevor Lawrence is a guy that, you know, he wasn't picked up much. Because he was
16:08Andy Holloway:super disappointing in week one. He was super
16:10Jason Moore:disappointing, so he would very likely be dropped, but I think the matchup against Cincinnati, I mean, we saw Joe Flacco. Joe Flacco had a great game. Unfortunately, he has two interceptions that also killed potential more yards and touchdowns on his drives that were not his fault when he threw it to the hands of his receivers and they popped it up but the Bengals defense did not look especially difficult as expected and I think that Trevor Lawrence going into week two against Cincinnati is probably a pretty good play this week he's he's a good streaming option so that would be someone beyond who was picked up this
16:44Andy Holloway:week at quarterback yeah and I'd mentioned Caleb who Caleb Williams Chicago Bears he still seems to
16:49Mike Wright:be available in about 35 well and this is again these are numbers before the waiver said before the waiver hit so we don't even need to i mean if caleb is dropped yeah yeah pay attention he was the quarterback six in two games against detroit last year it's and it comes down to the running
17:05Andy Holloway:uh and what's qb9 in week one he was six for 58 with a touchdown on the ground the through the air didn't look fantastic but on the ground i mean he looked so incredibly fast and he looked like he was dunked in Greece or Vaseline, and the Minnesota Vikings could not get him. They were getting there, but they could not get him.
17:28Jason Moore:I was really surprised with the athleticism.
17:31Andy Holloway:I was too. We know he was athletic, but week one looked different.
17:39Mike Wright:He did. He was able to pull away, you're saying, from some of the rushers and things. If running backs were picked up in your league if tootin or samson or somebody and you didn't pick them up pay attention make you know take a look and see if trey benson got dropped after one week sometimes people pick up backups in the draft and then move on to somebody that they feel like they can start pay attention to dj giddens whom jason mentioned yesterday uh barely rostered backing up jonathan taylor who has a vast injury history and hurt his neck in week one i i also saw in a lot of leagues kendra
18:13Jason Moore:Miller was dropped in, I would say most, like him, Will Shipley, those guys were dropped. Will Shipley makes sense because they brought someone in, but while Kendrae didn't very little, did almost nothing, only played 15 % of the snaps, and so that's why everyone's dropping him, he was the running back too. It wasn't like someone else played ahead of him, it was just Alvin Kamara played 79 % of the snaps, so as an insurance option behind an older Kamara who's missed games every year for the last several, it seems like someone that should be rostered.
18:45Mike Wright:All right, wide receivers, if you missed out on picking up Qge, as Jason did, or Kayshaun Booty, or Tillman, or Hollywood Brown, players we mentioned on yesterday's show, maybe take a look and see if Juju Smith-Schuster is out there, barely rostered, going to play a ton of snaps. If Worthy misses more time, no Rashi Rice. Was 5 '4". Nice. And then Wandale. Juju feels like he's 34. He's 28 years old. Oh, no, he's not.
19:15Jason Moore:He is. That's a Cameron artist pain situation.
19:19Andy Holloway:Bad birth certificate. Calling out Juju is, I think, important for people. While we have heard on this podcast that Taequann Thornton is guaranteed to score.
19:32Jason Moore:A 43-yard touchdown?
19:34Andy Holloway:42?
19:35Mike Wright:42-yard touchdown guarantee, yeah.
19:37Andy Holloway:Now, he has to do that on his three targets. is the biggest issue. We'll have five this week. Oh, okay. But Juju is going to get targets. I mean, I don't know that he was a huge part of the game plan going into last week, but now that they have the hand that they are dealt, he will be involved. And Juju just keeps popping up for the Chiefs. When they need him, he gives you a usable week for fantasy.
20:01Mike Wright:People might have dropped some of those top drop candidates too, like Jaden Higgins or Cooper Cupp that you could add to the roster. Trey Tucker as well had a big touchdown. and we think Brock Bowers is okay, but tight end-wise, if you didn't grab Juwan Johnson or Harold Fannin or Britton Strange, pay attention to Johnnie Smith. He will be definitely used all the time by Arthur Smith, and I don't know if it's a last name thing. I don't know what it is, but he likes Johnnie. And Hunter Henry, of course, he might be out there. People are bored with Hunter Henry. And Dalton Kincaid.
20:36Jason Moore:I was going to say, Dalton Kincaid and Dallas Goddard, names that were not necessarily drafted in a lot of leagues that both looked good week one. I think I'd go
20:45Andy Holloway:Goddard over Dalton Kincaid. Kincaid played like half the game and he came through with the big time touchdown, but he was only out there for 51 % of the snaps and got So just imagine, Mike, what if he's out for 80 % of the snaps? Room to grow. I agree with that. He won't be as the Buffalo Bills have shown us with Dalton Kincaid and
21:07Mike Wright:Yeah, that could have been interpreted as an actually bad game for Kincaid when you consider that his quarterback passed for 250 yards in the fourth quarter. That's how I take it. It might be a sell high.
21:17Jason Moore:It's like Travis Kelsey, who got the touchdown and is also a sell high because he had 10 % of targets. He was not involved in that game when they needed him.
21:27Andy Holloway:Now, this might be – it could be super galaxy-brained. Real, real galaxy-brained. but did you see the quote of it's probably from that other stupid podcast but kelsey was talking about running into worthy they do a podcast yeah it's garbage don't listen to it oh my gosh um i didn't mean to set that up well they get ratings because they have superstar pop stars on oh my gosh jealous much but anyways he was talking about like i mean there's a human again could be galaxy brain there's a human element he took his teammate out do you like do you think that that affected him at all mentally or was he able to just completely block that out he got
22:09Mike Wright:he talked he talked it out he talked about that on the you think okay i think there's a chance he was and how he's got to be a lot better than that and that was his mistake and these are they're human beings um also he's part of game plan sometimes and other times he's not i mean they were playing obviously a defense that was pretty good well we'll see i'm not gonna i'm not bailing on kelsey completely but it was the lowest target share he's had since 2017 so woof keep that in mind also on the defensive side if you're looking for multi-week pickups that uh are still out there the patriots have a really decent schedule uh miami pittsburgh carolina the seahawks play pittsburgh in new orleans so new orleans is coming up for them i mean those are a couple i saw the philly chance seattle's just has a good defense i agree i believe i said top five to ten and that was uh
22:57Andy Holloway:Well, it was ridiculous. The range was too much. It was too much. But I might be on your side there. Yeah, and the Eagles. Five to 15.
23:05Jason Moore:I've seen the Eagles dropped a lot. Oh, yeah. Thank you, Mike. Yeah. The Eagles have been dropped in a lot of leagues that I'm in because they're playing the Chiefs this week. And so you go, oh, I don't want to play them. That's fine. But they're obviously a great defense. I play them against the Chiefs. Sure, but I would pick them up.
23:21Mike Wright:Well, it's in Arrowhead. Maybe not. All right. That was Backup Options, sponsored by Progressive Insurance. quote today at progressive.com we'll go ahead and take a break and talk some news
23:34Mike Wright:what's going on foot clan if you know anything about this show you know we're all about making leagues amazing and part of that as a commission a lot of the times i've set up websites for the different leagues that we're in all of the teams and the players and the records and things like that love doing that for your league it makes it better or maybe maybe you're not the commission maybe you're not making a site for your league but you got a new side hustle and you don't want to lose sleep over building a website for it. You can launch a business. You can make it official in minutes with Wix Harmony, an AI-powered website builder that's also the first hybrid editor of its kind.
24:07Mike Wright:Let me explain what that means. You can describe your idea. It builds you a fully functional website, and then you're not stuck with what the AI builds. You can get in there. You can give it a prompt, or you can just go in and edit the images, the website, the different pages. You've also got ARIA, which is an AI agent specifically trained in website design and business strategy. It's fully functional. It makes it super easy to get going. You can try it right now. Try Wix Harmony for free at Wix.com. That's Wix.com. All right, FootClan, whether you are on the go or at home, T-Mobile, well, they're built to keep you connected wherever you're scouting your fantasy team.
24:45Mike Wright:And that on the go part, that is important. With America's Best network, you'll be connected to the latest news and player projections. So when you're on the clock, you can draft a winning team. I can think of so many situations where that element of being connected while you're on the go is fundamental to fantasy football success. I'm in the midst of multiple leagues right now where I am responding to trade offers. We are massaging the trade offer. We want to make sure that I'm the one that gets the player, not another player manager in our league. So trade offers when you're on the go, all the news that's breaking so you don't make a mistake and my favorite thing maybe i'll mention it look you're sitting and you have a quiet moment somewhere out and about you want to jump in the udk we got the player profiles you can watch all of those in there with t-mobile you can jump in on the player projections and our stat projections and all the 130 000 words of content again t-mobile making that easy to do every bit of news things are changing all the time new player contracts all that good stuff so from offseason to game day every play is better with t-mobile what you got to do is visit t-mobile.com slash network fastest is based on analysis by ukla of speed test intelligence data of national speed score results for the second half of 2025 the best mobile network in the u.s is based on analysis by ukla of speed test intelligence data second half of 2025
26:08Mike Wright:all right let's jump in
26:12Jason Moore:news and notes from around the league presented by progressive insurance
26:18Mike Wright:the packers signed currently injured wide receiver christian watson to a one-year 13
26:24Jason Moore:million dollar contract extension who is christian watson's agent okay are you looking
26:31Mike Wright:to find us a new agent you're doing some good work out there so this puts him under contract i believe for he was already under contract for next year i think is that right so he was this is year four no he would not be okay so they did they are giving him another year it does prove some things we said about him in the beginning of the year which is maybe he's one of those ir stashes to pay attention to because they have plans for him uh yeah nice job not sure when he's going to be back jake london and darnell mooney expected to practice today Raheem Morris says he expects London to play this week.
27:09Mike Wright:It's a Sunday night football game, which makes it, you know, you'd like to see him out there and get that confirmed towards the end of the week.
27:14Jason Moore:It also means, and this is the time of year where we try to remind you, because we're not in the flow of it, when you've got these questionable players on Sunday night, Monday night, make sure that they are in your flex position so you have more opportunities to pivot out of them if it's a last, oh, turns out he's not playing. Give yourself some flexibility.
27:35Mike Wright:uh the 49ers have a weekly part of the show it seems when we talk injuries juan jennings is day-to-day looking pretty good for him not to be majorly injured jake moody has been cut to the joy of many many many 49ers fans and um do you want to do you want to hit some sad music here, Al. Oh, man. George Kittle officially placed on injured reserve.
28:08Jason Moore:That sucks.
28:11Mike Wright:George, Jason, any thoughts?
28:13Jason Moore:He's going to miss the next four games, and while he's missing that time, he's going to go to Little Caesars, probably on an elk or some kind of reindeer. I think it's a deer. Sure. he's going to upgrade to a reindeer at this point he's going to have a great time probably drink some brewskis this isn't what other NFL players should be doing but this is what George Kittle can do and then he's going to come back out in week 6 and dominate
28:40Andy Holloway:I hope you're right George you owe me some fab
28:44Mike Wright:one of the things that kind of sucks is that the opening season window was going to be the best for George because you're going to get back to Marcus Robinson Brandon Ayuk, other players later on not that he won't be amazing, he will
28:57Jason Moore:but um will shipley dealing with fractured ribs yeah totally had nothing to do with the injured
29:05Mike Wright:will shipley why we traded for tank bigsby so we uh yeah will shipley you can cut him i did in a couple of leagues to to move on and it'll be tank bigsby and aj dillon back behind saquon barkley that was news and notes sponsored by progressive insurance quote today at progressive.com progressive casualty insurance company affiliates and third-party insurers not available in all states or situations covered subject policy terms limits and conditions let's talk thursday night football
29:38Mike Wright:thursday night breakdown
29:43Mike Wright:well we had football thursday friday sunday monday last week our thursday night matchup this week washington want to know oh man taking on the want to know green bay packers this game is So this game's also in Lambeau. They get to start the season two at home?
29:57Jason Moore:That's what I was surprised. Two at home, but not just two at home. But then the second week on Thursday night primetime at home, making another team fly across the country in short order. They're going to do it. They just got to stay home.
30:10Mike Wright:They played at home and they get to chill. Look, they're three-and-a-half point favorites, and the over-under in the game is 48-and-a-half. So at least Las Vegas sees us enjoying Thursday night football. I hope we do. Green Bay's defense in week one, stifling. And so Jaden Daniels will have his hands full. Washington runs so much no huddle. You saw Debo Samuel have a lot of success in his debut. Green Bay, much slower. They were 31st in pass rate over expectation last year. That is the challenge for Jordan Love is will they need to throw the ball that much? This is a good game for them to probably need to throw the ball a little bit.
30:53Andy Holloway:Yeah, and are you playing Jordan Love with any level of confidence?
31:00Mike Wright:I mean, they have a 26-point implied point total. I'd be comfortable playing Jordan Love. I don't know if he's going to be a top five on the week type of guy, but... You're not trying to stream out of Jordan Love?
31:13Andy Holloway:I would be fine streaming out of Jordan Love.
31:15Mike Wright:I mean, I'd play Justin Fields over Jordan Love. Yeah, okay. I feel pretty decent about Love this week, though.
31:22Jason Moore:I think Jordan Love has an excellent game and a mediocre fantasy output.
31:28Andy Holloway:That's the question of what point do we feel comfortable putting Love out there for...
31:34Mike Wright:Drake May or Jordan Love this week? I would go Drake May for sure. Drake May is playing Miami, right? Yes. Yeah, I feel like Love will be all right. It's tough. I think he's got two touchdowns in him.
31:44Jason Moore:It's tough. And I actually do too. I think he throws two touchdowns and probably has a disappointing fantasy. Yeah, he threw two yesterday. or uh this past week what was he like quarterback 18 or something yeah he was he was uh he didn't run like we were hoping right so that that's one of those uh you know i think there are a handful of players the closest one i brought him up earlier i'm not sure if i would trevor lawrence i think has a higher ceiling but also you're playing with fire there because he's not nearly
32:14Mike Wright:as good you definitely don't have to start love jayden daniels you do and he had a bunch of design runs again last week he also mike what did i tell you his uh rushing line was when i looked at it
32:23Andy Holloway:was it 58 i thought it was in like the mid 60s it was really high and it was like my goodness
32:29Mike Wright:the x the like the projected the projected line the uh over under for the rushing yardage was like 58 yards or something like that um i'm not sure where it is now kyle could probably let us know maybe it's a little bit lower than that but it just still seemed like such a nice floor Maybe it was 48. This is the perfect type of game for Jaden Davis. He hit 68 last week. Yeah. Okay. So we had the Ja 'Cory Krosky merit breakout. Bill Krosky himself. Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill.
32:58Jason Moore:Bill Krosky has a diary. He calls it the Guinness Book of World Records.
33:04Mike Wright:Okay. All right. You got me pretty good. You got me pretty good. Hey, did the pause? Oh, man. That was a long pause.
33:12Jason Moore:Primetime Bill Krosky.
33:16Andy Holloway:10 for 82 and a touchdown last week. You've got to be so excited, so scared to start Bill in this matchup.
33:23Mike Wright:Well, yeah, the first week, Green Bay, that defense. You know, Austin Eckler feels like we're in a really weird place with him because he is very much the starter. Wasn't the one with Juice last week. I mean he's solid but you know you finished outside the top 36 for 26 on the ground only six attempts on the ground three catches are we going to have sub 10 attempts from him every week
33:51Jason Moore:I think you probably will have sub 10 attempts the the where you want him is in the receiving game I think in a game like this you know they they won last week against the Giants 21 to 6 this game I expect them to lose, and I expect them to lose heartily. Really? I do. I think the heartily. How do you lose heartily?
34:14Andy Holloway:I think it is. Did you mean it more? There's a bountiful loss.
34:17Mike Wright:Yes, a bountiful loss. Very heartily, like with great heart.
34:21Jason Moore:I was satiated by my loss. The Packers look so good, and I know it was one week, but it's not just how they looked at week one. It's the actual personnel, the traveling, how these teams match up.
34:34Mike Wright:So if Green Bay wins heartily, as you said, who are the beneficiaries? You saw Jaden Reed get into the end zone last week. Matthew Golden had a very quiet opening week one. You had Romeo Dobbs involved. Tucker Kraft, the touchdown, but not a lot of targets. Only 18 completions by Love.
34:55Andy Holloway:That's the whole thing. Kraft and Reed, they caught the touchdowns, so they were fine for fantasy. but it was a very small amount of passing attempts that were divvied up across the whole team.
35:06Mike Wright:So then what's the expectation with a hearty win? Who's the players that you're most confident in? Obviously Josh Jacobs is the primary beneficiary here.
35:16Jason Moore:I'm not super confident in any of the pass catchers for, I mean this is try to call your shot on a touchdown to me. Honestly, Tucker Craft?
35:26Andy Holloway:Tucker Craft to me is a weekly starter.
35:29Jason Moore:Yeah, I think so. At that position, you don't need to do as much. Last week, he had two catches and was fine because he got the touchdown. The targets are going to be spread around in an infuriating manner, and so it's really difficult for me to – you had two receptions for Dobbs, three receptions for Jaden Reed, two for Wicks, two for Kraft, two for Golden, one for Jacobs one for Musgrave one for Brooks one for Fitzpatrick one for Savion Williams like Savion got on there oh yeah right on yeah he had uh he was the the third highest total catches I mean with one right it's just really tough when you don't have a consolidation of targets to have you you're you really if you want to play a packer you got to say I believe they're getting a
36:20Mike Wright:touchdown as a receiver you're playing terry mclaren and debo yeah i can't imagine not playing debo mclaren it could take a little time you talked about missing camp it could be but it's like who are you if you had them both which one would you play debo i think the the manufactured
36:39Jason Moore:touches will be there the running game is usually a little bit easier for the packers defense they've got a very good um passing defense and so Tara McLaurin down the field I mean if you're down a lot they'll throw the ball more so I don't think Tara McLaurin is someone that by any means you can't start but it's a matter of do you have like let's say you drafted Tara McLaurin and you drafted Michael Pittman I'd feel more confident playing Michael Pittman really than Tara McLaurin oh I forgot about that I forgot about Patrick 13 um I'll look further into that uh how about uh
37:14Andy Holloway:The waiver hotness, Kuge, or the Washington guys. I think I go Kuge on Monday night. Oh, man.
37:23Jason Moore:This is spicy. In week two, Ricky Pearsall I'd rather play over Terry McLaurin. What about Zay Flowers?
37:34Mike Wright:Yeah, I mean, the problem with Terry is just, you know, he's got to make the most of the limited opportunities probably. probably the deeper targets he had four targets in week one he caught two of them for 27 yards he's always a big play away I mean he was the wide receiver five last year because of big plays and
37:53Jason Moore:it's a high over under so in all fairness he was just overthrown on what would have been
37:58Mike Wright:a bomb touchdown it feels like you probably need to stick with Terry for me I would have
38:03Jason Moore:I do agree that we should not overreact on one down week from any wide receiver but Terry McLaurin did not look bad if that if if that throw from jaden daniels was you know a yard less then terry
38:18Mike Wright:has a great week you play more for tyreek yeah okay mike do you have any other thoughts on this
38:23Andy Holloway:game yeah i the the question is i wanted to get some names for bill because i i am nervous of William.
38:32Jason Moore:William. Maybe in this game.
38:35Andy Holloway:Because the Green Bay defense, one game, but David Montgomery and Jameer Gibbs shut down. And for all the excitement about Bill Krosky, he's not up at that level of play yet. So the aforementioned Jordan Mason takes on the Atlanta Falcons. Would you rather play Mason in that game or Bill Test your fate with Bill on Thursday night.
39:02Mike Wright:I think those are very close to me. They are. I think I lean Mason.
39:08Andy Holloway:Okay. Jalen Warren against Seattle. I lean Jalen Warren. And let's find one more.
39:19Andy Holloway:Let's just stay in the same game. Eckler or Bill, who are you playing? Who would you prefer?
39:25Mike Wright:I actually lean Eckler this week. If you're playing from behind the pass-catching role, I think I might stay away from Bill after everything you said and where I'm at with it.
39:35Andy Holloway:So Bill feels like a low fringe RB2 type of a play. For me at least. So Bill or Kenneth Walker? I'll play Bill. Probably Bill. Yeah, I'll play Bill there. We need to see it.
39:51Mike Wright:Agreed. Agreed. All right, let's jump into the mailbag.
39:58Jason Moore:Mailbag.
40:05Mike Wright:All right, we are into the mailbag. If you have a question for the show, we'd love to answer it. Go to the website, thefantasyfootballers.com. Click the Submit a Question button, or you can dial the voicemail hotline, 302-464-TFFB. And do we have a voicemail in here, Al? Are we good on that? We do. All right, let's do it.
40:25Jason Moore:Hey, footballers. Dan from South Bend. I love your show. I got a quick question. This is the first time my league has ever done waivers with FAB.
40:34Andy Holloway:So what's the easiest way, or how do you guys decide how much to spend percentage-wise on the position, and what positions are more important, or how do you guys figure the percentage? I'm just trying to see if I can get some kind of detail on that. Thanks. Have a great day.
40:52Mike Wright:I'll say this, and you guys can add some more context to it. we add fab ranges to our waiver wire rankings so we do give you a a baseline of what we think they're worth spending however the real true answer and people don't like it when it's not when it's not like super you know black and white on a certain number the real true answer is i adjust my bids proportional to my need if i have a great need for a running back on a roster that's depleted it's going to be much different than if it's in a very you know in a vacuum i have a full roster and I just try to add somebody to my bench I'm going to overspend to fill a need on my roster so um I guess I would say use our fab as a guide but not a you know also know your league
41:38Jason Moore:yeah that's what I'm gonna say this this is it's it's really it's a it's an it's a blind auction so this is you have to beat the other people in your league and know their tendencies now if this
41:49Mike Wright:is your blind auction with Jason there I know I'm gonna have to bid up a lot because he's gonna buy everything. Well, is it fancy stuff? It's fancy stuff. Bring your wallet. You should just leave.
41:59Andy Holloway:You're getting nothing. How much for all of it?
42:02Jason Moore:I'll take the lot. You know, you do need to know. Now, he said this is his first time playing, so you don't know the tendencies of your league. I will say this. If this is the first time for your entire league playing, if you just switch to an auction, go a little harder than you think. Yes. People are scared. It's been our experience in new fab leagues that yeah everyone's worried that they're going to overspend and so they just go out a couple bucks here a couple bucks there just just don't just be courageous yeah and get your guys to highlight andy's point i lost george kittle i had to get a tight end and uh and i like i said on the show
42:43Andy Holloway:yesterday there's there were two tight ends that i fully believe are year-long type of of players in Juwan Johnson and Harold Fannin. Now, I had no idea what other – I looked around at the teams, you know, to just get a gauge, who needs a tight end, and there were a handful of teams that, in my estimation, where they're going to bid. They're going to go after these tight ends. So I put in a number where I knew this is going to be an overspend. I don't know how much of an overspend, but it will be, but I got to get this guy. So I went 27 on Juwan Johnson, which is hard to paint for him. It was an overspend of 20.
43:25Andy Holloway:Yeah, it ended up being 20. Now, I had a mid-20 on Harold Fannin should I have not gotten Juwan, and I would not have gotten Fannin. No, he went for like 33. He went for in the 30s. So it was I looked at my situation, knew I had to get one of those two guys and just accepted I'm burning. I'm going to burn some cash, but I believe in them and I need them.
43:47Jason Moore:Here's what I think is the most important takeaway from that. Mike, you spent 27 to get one of those two tight ends that you needed. The next highest bid was seven. So you can say it was a bad bid. In the end, you have Juwan Johnson who you needed. And your team is better because of it.
44:03Mike Wright:It's also very funny because if the bid behind him had been 26, you would have felt like it was the right amount to spend. It's the same amount of foul no matter what. It's just a perspective thing. It really is. If I had spent 26 and you had spent 27, you'd be dunking on me. Yes. Like, I got him. So, yeah, if you need a player, go get him. We do give you a guide in the custom waiver wire rankings in our ultimate dashboard that you can use. Speaking of dunking, I just want to say,
44:32Jason Moore:when I said that I spent 19 for huge and Al was like, not going to get him, Al spent 18 for him. I screenshotted it in Slack there where my bid was 24.
44:43Andy Holloway:He had a technological malfunction.
44:46Mike Wright:He's the one that runs our tech?
44:48Andy Holloway:Yeah.
44:48Mike Wright:It is. Okay. So maybe you're hearing this, maybe you're not. All right, Nate in Canada, half PPR league. Should I bench Tyreek Hill for either of these two players? Yes. Keenan Allen?
44:59Jason Moore:Yes.
45:00Mike Wright:Or Hollywood Brown? Probably both. Dude. It's amazing how I'm still afraid of seeing Tyreek Hill on the other side of my matchup. I really am. Like, I'm playing somebody this week, they have Tyreek Hill, and I still see it, and I'm like, I'm afraid of the big play. And he hasn't had a 30-yard reception in a year. But I'm still scared.
45:20Jason Moore:Yeah, I mean, I get it. Tua looked terrible against the Colts. Now, that's one week. We don't want to overreact from one week. But it's not just one week. Like, for Tyreek, it's one week plus age plus one year. He was terrible last year.
45:40Mike Wright:you know he's probably getting traded the i would say that the chance of him ending the season on the dolphins is very low very low go back to the chiefs yeah or someplace that wants to make a push with one dude maybe i i think he will be gone uh and just a i don't know what that means for
46:00Jason Moore:your waddle shares or whatever is certainly not someone that you can't start he's going to get a
46:05Andy Holloway:lot of targets he i think those other two names i would start over yeah hollywood brown the hollywood brown one's gonna feel bad because you're like when you're just looking at the floor and the median of what could happen for that but on if i had the two of them i think i
46:20Mike Wright:would do it hollywood brown's story in kansas city is injuries alone that's all it is when he's been on the field for them yeah he has been targeted at such a crazy rate he came back at the end of last year and in limited snaps he was constantly targeted he is a very good and capable receiver and we're talking about we brought up juju smith schuster on this show correct juju smith schuster
46:42Andy Holloway:is not the receiver hollywood brown currently is we did have a an update here on miami dolphin news of head coach mcdaniel talking about darren waller guys i don't know if you saw this quote is going to be gone. He said, quote, I expect... Are you going to play it? I guess. Sure.
47:03Andy Holloway:Quote, grudgingly, I expect to not know what to expect until later on this week. He said that? Yeah, hold on, hold on. We may get to a point where we realize the risk is too great for the rest of the season and we'll have to do what's best for the team. Oh, man. We're ramping up. This is a ramp to infinity.
47:22Mike Wright:This is like starting the rocket ship up and then powering it down, and it never launches. Sure glad you traded for him out of retirement.
47:31Jason Moore:Wait, and paid him.
47:32Mike Wright:Yeah. Trade, paid. Oh, he's a genius. Yeah, he's doing work over there. Yeah, Waller. Oh, my gosh. That team is in trouble.
47:39Andy Holloway:We did have a note that I'm seeing that Quinchon Judkins not practicing. Okay. Everything yesterday was like, oh, he's going to practice tomorrow.
47:47Jason Moore:I believe he is not practicing because he's meeting with the NFL. Is that what's going on? I saw a report. Let me look that up.
47:52Mike Wright:on 123 NFL Street?
47:54Andy Holloway:Yes, just saying, if he's not practicing on a Wednesday, that's what he's doing. He can't be playing. We'll see.
48:01Mike Wright:We'll see what happens this week. We'll take a break. We'll jump back into some more questions.
48:09Andy Holloway:No matter what triumphs are in store this season, legendary game days start with a Miller Lite. Miller Lite is a true American pilsner and the original light beer brewed since 1975. 49:17Mike Wright:What's up, Foot Clan? You are confident and disciplined and focused on details, just like everyone here at the Fancy Footballers, right? Those are words you'd use to describe us. 50:18Jason Moore:okay so as of an hour ago right now judkins is in new york city today meeting with the nfl the plan is for judkins to practice tomorrow and friday to determine his availability for sunday
50:30Mike Wright:at that point gary okay i mean that's good to know gary in york is trading t higgins to the
50:36Andy Holloway:borough manager for aj brown and good trade yes yep i'd rather have a yeah week one for aj well jason yeah you're you're aj brown's on your league of record team your most important team how what is your level of concern if if uh if you had t higgins would you be trading him for aj brown
50:57Jason Moore:i would rather have aj brown if this was a redraft right now everything we know in week one i would take AJ Brown ahead of T Higgins there are plenty of wide receivers have bad games and I don't expect this to be the last bad game for AJ Brown this season by any means but it will 100 % be chock full of lots of big games I was I forget which DB it was they were interviewing some great DB and it was like who are the best five current wide receivers in the NFL and he was like well Chase and Jefferson of course I think CD AJ Brown and then he really struggled with five it was like he he puts him in there and you look at last year there were games where two for 36 for AJ Brown you know he had some games where he just disappeared and then plenty of awesome ones yeah we may we
51:51Mike Wright:may be accepting a new reality for AJ Brown though yeah in the last couple of in the last couple of beers uh kirk wants to know would you trade either cmc or derrick henry for justin jefferson in a ppr league or just keep the running backs oh man i would probably keep the running backs i would keep the running backs andrew in idaho what's up fookland what's up should i start marvin harrison jr this week or ride the high from a mecca buka and play him instead thanks guys love the show obviously got a buka late then and has the start set decision marvin harrison against carolina i am worried that the cardinals will run all over carolina and that may limit harrison yeah i would
52:36Andy Holloway:play a buka i was concerned they were going to run all over the saints as well that carolina is worse
52:44Mike Wright:yeah i mean it's very possible that the carolina has some offensive success which would change
52:49Jason Moore:things the buccaneers are going on the road to the houston texans uh defense that looked you know great against the rams i think it's a really close call between these two guys stingley will be on
52:58Andy Holloway:evans i lean the marvin harrison side they both saw the same amount of targets so mike make the decision i would play let's put it all on mike i agree mike right win or lose right here then it's to win and i would play marv okay all right uh tyler or abuka okay all right um i i would i'd
53:26Mike Wright:play marv if i had them both tyler has a question another drop candidate is luther burden droppable and redraft luther burden did nothing yes in week one i it's just the problem i had with burden was not the skill or talent i loved him coming out of college it was like it was dj more roma dunze you know you're now Olsen Loveland
53:45Andy Holloway:you didn't list the real problem the real problem is Zaccheaus oh yeah it was in this week
53:51Mike Wright:he did play 27 % of snaps but only had one target I am
53:55Andy Holloway:fine dropping Luther Burden right now I do have a long view of him that by the second half he will be on the field over Zaccheaus and then we will see
54:05Mike Wright:I love this question because it's so brutal Ben in Kansas City should I consider trading Malik neighbors for jsn oh that is brutal it's brutal we just talked about the widers or the quarterback situation in new york which let me apologize oh yeah i got fooled by oh yeah i got i did too i was in that too and then you guys fooled me with you're being fooled well when we speak into these microphones it sounds authoritative mike and i don't blame you for listening to us but listen we got fooled by a bad tweet that had claimed that brian dable had gone to ownership about jackson dart it was false i was tricked jason was tricked yeah and um it happens it does happen and i apologize and i'm sorry for yesterday's conversation completely based on that um also
54:54Andy Holloway:on the heels of that though we will all be tricked yet again this week as russell wilson remains the starting quarterback for the giants just like our eyes will be tricked into having to watch a
55:04Jason Moore:bad game look malik neighbors to a report from me brian david should go to ownership
55:09Mike Wright:and ask if jackson dart may start i was a believer in jsn being a top tier true top five candidate this year malik neighbors it was you don't want to overreact to one good week from jsn and one bad week from malik neighbors and be like okay like i would probably stay with neighbors i would but I don't think it's going to be that much of a difference between the two.
55:35Jason Moore:I agree. The gap is not what it was perceived before the season. If you watch the targets, I watched every single Malik neighbor's target last night. They are so, so bad, and I feel bad for him. He had 12 targets. He only caught five of those balls. Not his fault.
55:59Andy Holloway:you can't get did you like in when you were watching you feel like the all whatever the all 22 no no no the the all incomplete passes were not his fault pretty much i mean you know
56:12Jason Moore:i he looked excellent malik neighbors looked excellent but my point here is he had five for 71 that's not a bad game at all when you have awful future like the if that's the floor, amazing. You know what I mean? That's my point.
56:33Mike Wright:No, no, no, and it is the floor for him. It absolutely is. Quarterbacks will change, but the offense can't exist without throwing him the ball a ton. So that makes a ton of sense. The milkman in Iowa writing in. The? It does say, it just says milkman. Oh, man. It could be any milkman. Father to many. Do we have any milkman?
56:54Jason Moore:That's a good joke.
56:57Andy Holloway:That's up there with your 1800s joke. It's about the same timeline. Are there milkmen? There has to be some milkmen. There has to still be some. The baby boomers listening to this show love that joke, Jason.
57:08Mike Wright:I feel like people are more into organic, pure... Raw milk? Raw milk. I feel like there's milkmen again. Is there? I feel like they're back. But I want to believe that they go into the attic and dust off their old milkman uniform. We are so back. We are back. let's get let's get on the road um but and he's in iowa i don't know uh in if your opponent has a star wide receiver on their team is it beneficial to stream that receiver's quarterback my brother has nico collins and ifcj stroud um it's not you want the most points at your quarterback position possible there is a small if nico was the only good player your brother had I could understand like you could neutralize there's been a situation like that where I've neutralized the one good player
57:59Jason Moore:on a team. Usually though if you have one good player who's like a Malik Nabors where the target share is going to be unbelievable and the vast majority of the fantasy points comes from Malik Nabors you want the wide receiver not the quarterback because each one of those plays the wide receiver scores more than the quarterback does for points for receptions all of that.
58:17Mike Wright:Yeah if you could choose. In this situation I would just want to get the most points because guess what else neutralizes him outscoring him yeah if you if you if Nico Collins scores 20 and CJ Straddard scores 20 cool you did it but if you have a quarterback that scored 25 you score more points all right that was today's mailbag watch every game every Sunday with NFL Sunday ticket and YouTube TV visit youtube.com slash fantasy footballers local and national games on YouTube TV NFL Sunday ticket for out-of-market games base plan required.
