In short

The Fantasy Footballers (Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, Mike Wright) recap Week 16 and focus on playoff-week waivers/streamers (“Block it like it’s hot!”). They discuss key NFL results and how they affect fantasy: Steelers’ dominant win over the Dolphins (Aaron Rodgers 23/27, Darren Waller 2 TDs; Steelers used DK Metcalf more than expected but still limited him to 3 targets), and Steelers RB situation (Jalen Warren sick; Kenneth Gainwell “hot hand”). They debate Mahomes’ ACL/LCL surgery recovery, Jaden Daniels shut down, and Joe Burrow’s slump/press comments; Burrow may start again and Phillip Rivers returns Monday night.

1:11Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright.

1:29Mike Wright:Welcome in.

1:38Mike Wright:Tuesday. Check Tuesday. December 16th. Week one of the playoffs in the books, officially.

1:51Andy Holloway:Or unless you check your sleeper. Oh, right, yeah. Then wait until Thursday?

1:57Mike Wright:I don't know when they do it. They're like Santa. They check it twice.

2:01Andy Holloway:Okay.

2:02Mike Wright:They want to make sure the scores are nice.

2:06Andy Holloway:Can we put a protocol in the program that says, if someone has won by five or more points, we're good. Yeah. We're moving on. No.

2:20Mike Wright:No, you know this. I mean, I guess. We're developers. You already know this.

2:23Andy Holloway:The five or more would also be in the range of problems for the Woody Marks touchdown.

2:28Mike Wright:They're either running the script or they're not, Mike. We know that. That's going to apply to everybody. I just want to see the matchup. Did they do anything happen to Woody Marks? I have not heard. I doubt it. Yeah, I doubt it. League by league. Yeah, I'm excited. We'll talk waiver wire today. We'll talk some NFL news. undoubtedly we'll talk about jason and mike's head-to-head matchup in the semi-finals of our league of record last year it was fun this year not as fun because last year me well yeah for me i just meant like last year was me and al and we were doing a lot of talking trash that's very

3:05Andy Holloway:selfish oh yeah as i when it was you two and i was just i mean road roadkill my team was garbage I enjoyed it very much.

3:17Mike Wright:You know, it's a bit. Oh, okay. It's a bit. I'm glad you guys are facing off. It'll be fun to see if we have three people to host a show on next week. At least for you. There's a decent chance that I can make my equity share goes up. Yeah, 50%. At least for you, Andy, we're not right now meeting in the championship. One of us is guaranteed to get to the championship. Right. But if we were meeting like you and Al in the championship, then you would have no choice but to look at a champ across the table. There's still hope for you that one of us won't win. I don't have to look at, yeah. No, that'd be good.

3:49Andy Holloway:But the downside there is that Josh could have been. Jeremy wants us to remind new listeners how it worked out last year, the championship. Jeremy, how did it work?

3:56Mike Wright:I was going to let Andy take that one. No, no. I didn't defend my title. You're right. I didn't win back-to-back. That is correct. That's the point. Somebody else won. I got this beautiful trophy sitting right here next to me. I don't remember who it was, but I didn't win. I remember. i remember i i also know that you and i will be we got some great draft picks this year buddy and sitting in there on sunday and watching jason oh hyperventilate i think i have a video of one of the etn touchdowns i'll have to share that one yeah social media team make sure you get with me on that you do yeah yeah i don't know if you have a hat i think it was i don't know if you have a

4:38Andy Holloway:The man one, too, where it was like, how in the world did he score on that reception?

4:43Mike Wright:You gave a Phillip Rivers fist pump. Nice. And you were very excited. But I was so relieved.

4:49Andy Holloway:Like Phillip Rivers after the fist pump.

4:50Mike Wright:I was so relieved on Sunday. I was just sitting back, relaxing. Yeah. Not a care in the world. Well, we got a lot to talk about. We had the Steelers dominate the Dolphins. Cold weather is undefeated against the Dolphins. yeah they uh you know devon h had a nice game despite not scoring darren waller two touchdowns i mean that's a big deal anybody know who he plays next week uh is it the cincinnati bangles tell that to the baltimore ravens jason hey so you played now you won but you didn't play waller i did not play so that would have been another like if you had lost that would have been another It would have felt real, real bad.

5:32Mike Wright:Haunted you. Yeah. But you didn't. You didn't lose. Aaron Rodgers, two touchdowns. Played well. 23 for 27. Kenneth Gainwell, you had Jalen Warren report that he was sick. Warren did just enough to beat Jason. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. But not enough to make any fantasy manager happy because Kenneth Gainwell, seven receptions for 46 yards. Kenny Gainwell. 13 for 80. He's been playing so well.

5:53Andy Holloway:Yeah, he really has. The Steelers do often feel lately it's hot hand. and the hotter hand has been Kenneth Gainwell. Now, Warren can sneak in a touchdown every once in a while, but Warren's shaping up to be a scarier start to me in the next round of the playoffs.

6:15Mike Wright:Oh, you had Waller and Pitts on your bench in Dynasty?

6:18Andy Holloway:Yeah, yeah. And how much did you lose by?

6:20Mike Wright:What? I lost by two, three, four points, something like that. I lost by less, yes. In the league I lost, I definitely –

6:29Andy Holloway:Look at Mike Spate. Oh, man. I didn't know you had Waller as well. And honestly – If you had just thrown a dart at the wall, you would have hit a tight end that won you the game. No, because Waller would have been my fourth pick this week because I was Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely. Oh, man. Oh, they played who? The Cincinnati Bengals.

6:49Mike Wright:That's who Waller's going to dominate next week? I don't believe that Tua only completes eight passes next week. That's just my guess. well he completed 22 in this game no i'm uh yeah i'm talking about lamar jackson who only completed eight passes i got you yeah i mean i'll be watching i mean that'd be fun

7:08Andy Holloway:what that felt it's a weird game i mean what we hit what 43 points and it felt like it was basically no one was nothing shut out no one was great yeah i mean dk metcalf started the week got in the end zone on a on a great touchdown amazing touchdown where he just threw them around like children yeah that was a really cool play and it makes you when you see that play you you you think to yourself like why don't you just use him more why like like that play was borderline his entire fantasy day help me out with this exercise three targets for dk three targets i was kind of doing

7:45Mike Wright:this mental exercise yesterday and i didn't go into all the numbers so i don't know if it's true but just tell me if you have the same perception. To me, all Steelers quarterbacks since Big Ben are the same player.

7:56Andy Holloway:Okay. That's the thesis.

7:58Mike Wright:Yeah. Okay. So whether it's Russell Wilson or Mason Rudolph, Aaron Rodgers, Kenny Pickett, even Justin Fields, I think they're all the same player, and I think that comes down to basically the Steelers offense. Yeah. Because you don't really take advantage of anybody's special ability if you are trying so hard to work Johnny Smith into the offense. Yeah, I mean, and it's funny, too, because you can— Guys, I'm telling you, it's going to work. You can make the argument— He had a rushing touchdown. You can make the argument, which I think is fair, that they don't and have not had a great core of wide receivers.

8:34But then you can also make the argument, you've got D.K. Metcalf, and you just had George Pickens. Yeah, you had enough. You could do more with them. Yeah. Yeah. This is what, like I said last week, they were playing a team, the Steelers were playing a team that you couldn't throw to the tight end, and all of a sudden they threw to DK. This week, you can use tight ends, and all the tight ends were like, I'll get a touchdown.

8:59Andy Holloway:Well, also, Connor Hayward, hopefully you played him. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it was a huge bummer. Honestly, the DK Metcalf, that was my biggest takeaway of the week prior. it looked like something was unlocked air yards galore you know just crushing in the passing game and they're using DK Metcalf and to come back and have the three targets was a big letdown and they won handedly so it's like they're not going to change their ways

9:32Mike Wright:I'm not that discouraged by it because this game was just a whooping I mean this game was a defensive dominated game you had 27 pass attempts so if they need to throw I think they still Detroit next week. I mean, Detroit's got everything on the line. Pittsburgh's got everything on the line. So that's more, I think that game, we got some more optimism, hope. I don't like that. Why don't you like that? Mike's got DK Metcalf. I think that's a very good matchup for Metcalf. Is he in your lineup? Your depth is... You should put him in.

10:02Andy Holloway:He is in my lineup. Fantastic. My final pick will be between Jalen Warren and DK Metcalf. Oof. So as of right now, it's DK Metcalf.

10:11Mike Wright:but come on hopefully the foot clan when is dk metcalf ever let me down hopefully you're all moving on mike calf yeah the dk metcalf is your guy i mean we everybody knows it if i win a title if you're listening for the first time it's mike's guy dk metcalf dk mike calf uh let's talk some news news and notes from around the league presented by progressive insurance

10:40Mike Wright:Patrick Mahomes already underwent surgery to repair his ACL and his LCL. I think the general opinion is that it complicates the recovery, but not the timeline is what I've been reading.

10:55Andy Holloway:Yeah, Matthew Betts, our injury guy, also on the Dynasty DFS, Sharp guy, certified PT. He talked about the recovery. referee he Mahomes could still be ready by week one but you should expect a brace on the on the leg and that juice we were getting from Patrick Mahomes running he was on pace for 500 whoa you're you're right 500 throat I'm getting emotional thinking about our match oh he was on pace for 532 rushing yeah expect that to go away Carson Wentz if you recall back in week 14 of 2017 had a very similar injury. Now Wentz, I believe, had a little meniscus damage. We haven't got a report on that on Mahomes yet.

11:38Andy Holloway:We don't know. But Carson Wentz missed two games to start the next year.

Read the full transcript

11:43Mike Wright:Commanders officially shutting down Jaden Daniels for the rest of the season. That left elbow. They wanted to recover. Yeah, it's the right move. The Bengals said head coach Zach Taylor said Joe Burrow will start for the rest of the year because, quote, they want to win? Did Joe Burrow agree? he's a sad boy i i think i think joe burrow is an interesting discussion at this point yes not not for not just for this week i mean obviously him starting the rest of the year not being shut down probably probably good um maybe maybe the joe flacco world is better but listen since he lost in the afc title game or afc playoffs to mahomes the year after he went to the super bowl he is something like 17 and 15 in his starts games that he started to a tongue of iloa has a better record in games started for miami since that time that is gross yeah and joe burrow this man a defense well see there it is there it is or always or just enough it's always yeah i'm just saying like so offensive line defense you did give him the best two wide receivers in the game of football And he did throw for 5 ,000 yards and 43 touchdowns.

12:56Mike Wright:So, I mean. But the wins. The wins are what matter. And if you look at what Josh Allen has figured out without some of those things at different times in his career, I think the winners win. So, I mean, at some point it falls on him.

13:10Andy Holloway:Did you see the video, like Burrow, talking about this particular loss? Yeah. So, rewind. You know, you had the video that kind of took the internet by storm. of a very melancholy Joe Burrow kind of talk. Just the filter went off, and it's like, man, Joe Burrow is – he's either having a really, really bad day or, like, this guy's having a really tough time right now just with everything that's going on with the season. He literally said that – Lost season. Why do this if it's not fun anymore? And, you know, people – the follow-up question. This was earlier, not post-game. This was before this bad game.

13:49That was his birthday, Matt? And then, oh, man. Maybe he just felt like he was getting old. Yeah, I've been there. But he was asked a follow-up question of, is this organizational? Is this personal? And he's like, all of the above. Yeah. So there's, and then Jamar Chase.

14:07Mike Wright:What about the$250 million?

14:09Andy Holloway:Hey, money can't buy you happiness. Yeah. No. Or love.

14:12Mike Wright:But it should make you go to your job. Yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? The job that's paying you.

14:17Andy Holloway:You should probably go to your job. So then that goes to this week after the loss. It was everything. I mean, he was a more angry Joe Burrow. It was – he's like the quarterback has to play better. I played – that might be my –

14:31Mike Wright:He said zero teams would have won with him at quarterback.

14:33Andy Holloway:Yeah, he's like that was one of my worst games ever. And he just – everything, no matter how the reporters tried to steer the conversation, Joe Burrow was like, no, Uno card. That was me. I sucked. So I was talking to Jason of, so what Joe Burrow do we get next week? Do we get the man who has a little bit snapped out of the funk and now he's just fueled by the rage and he's going to go out there

14:58Mike Wright:and he's going to just drop 303?

15:01Andy Holloway:Or do we get the depressed subject? It doesn't matter.

15:05Mike Wright:I still saw depressed Joe Burrow in this last press conference to me. Okay. That was less anger to me and more depression again.

15:13Andy Holloway:Not that it's everything, but the over-under is still, we got a 50.5 for Cincinnati against Miami. Similar to the Ravens over-under. Yeah, that's what I said. It's not everything. I have no idea what we're going to get. It's in Miami, so it won't be cold.

15:26Mike Wright:I have no idea what we're going to get from Joe Burrow. None. Zero idea. He is capable of 500 yards. We're going to go. He's capable of 275-3. I think that's the part. like he actually hasn't played that well at various times throughout their run i mean they this is three years of missing the playoffs i know part of its availability by him and that happens right you get hurt that's part of his i a huge part of what he's dealing with is well i'm i'm working hard to come back from injury constantly and then when i come back we lose and then we come back and i don't always play the best and it's it's all mixed together and um you know i we believe in you joe yeah i mean that's the thing we all like joe burrow i'd love to see him have success i just i if we could uh have the cardinals bring over joe burrow i think we would all be very happy i think almost every team would say almost every team would if joe burrow magically became available you think if mahomes or or alan lamar missed the playoffs three straight years we would not lay anything at their feet yeah if they're if they are putting up points on the offense, yeah, I think we would forgive them.

16:39Andy Holloway:Lamar is... At least Burrow's made the Super Bowl. Lamar still has his questions of, are they ever going to win?

16:47Mike Wright:Yeah, last week was a tough one for Burrow. Phillip Rivers will start again this week on Monday Night Football. Yes! Prime time, baby. The whole world's going to watch you have to get up off the ground. See Matt Ryan talking about, maybe?

17:02Andy Holloway:Oh, no. He's not going to, but there was a clip today.

17:07Mike Wright:Phillip Rivers is like when my dad wanted to ride a dirt bike. Oh, yes. That is a good comp. And he did. This happened. Because riding a dirt bike is fun. And I'd like to see my dad have fun. Yeah. However. How'd it go? Not great. Because you also know what can happen to your grandpa. Right? to the grandpa, you know what can happen if you give him a dirt bike. And right now we're all giving Phillip Rivers a dirt bike. Yeah, it's a dangerous game. Hey, bro, you see that jump? Get it. But the thing is, the thing that we're also doing. Wear a helmet. The thing that we're also doing. No, no, no, no.

17:46Just jump it. That I believe you did with your father as well. Is we're filming. Take him to the hospital? Is we're filming. Oh, okay. And that's what matters. If you're going to give a dirt bike to him. I'm Phillip Rivers. This is playing NFL at 44. Welcome to Jackass. Yes. That is exactly what is happening.

18:06Mike Wright:This is playing the NFL in 44. Oh, that is the best segment ever in real life. That's what it is. Yeah. And now all the cameras, like you said, we're recording it. Boom. Monday night, everybody. Yeah. Phillip, I don't know how many pounds you can lose in a week, brother. But I get on that diet. Oh, man. Sweat it out. You either need to lose pounds, add some pads. Basel Tootin will undergo surgery on his finger, miss a few weeks. Jason will have even more Travis Etienne. Etienne zone.

18:47Andy Holloway:I don't love that.

18:48Mike Wright:Bam Knight not expected to play. We'll talk waivers with Michael Carter, Amari DiMarcado, and the Cardinals. It's funny. The Cardinals are, and I said it yesterday, you suck Cardinals. You suck Jets. You suck Raiders. Yeah. Kyle wanted me to add the Falcons. Falcons, you suck. We'll find out this week. But let me tell you this. The Cardinals are just full of fantasy football championship value. Oh, for sure. Just jam-packed of players that could win your title. One, they haven't been playing for anything forever, so we don't have to worry about their playoff scenario. Right. They're as motivated as they have been, which is, I don't know what they're doing, but Jacoby Brissett, Michael Wilson, Trey McBride, maybe a running back, maybe Marvin Harrison at some point, all of them are going to be relevant for fantasy.

19:34Mike Wright:It's great. No defense. Fantastic. Oh, 40 points. They're giving up 40 points like four out of five weeks or something silly. I mean. They're head coach. They really need to get a defensive-minded head coach in there. Right, yeah. You see Jonathan Gannon, what's your pitch? What's your pitch for staying with the Cardinals? Did you see that? No. No pitch. I'm worried about Atlanta. Well, yeah, how could you? He doesn't have a pitch. You couldn't have a pitch. What's your pitch for staying with the Cardinals?

20:01Andy Holloway:I've got a contract. Number two. It's nice. Michael Wilson. Michael Wilson's playing for money. He's in year three. He'll be in year four, able to get an extension or figure that out. Jacoby playing for money. You see the tape on him? And McBride's just playing for records. McBride's going to break the record.

20:19Mike Wright:Michael Wilson against Stingley. Did you see that? Yeah, I did. If you go watch all the reps, his release looks identical on every single rep, and then he does so much with it. It was just like a master class in playing wide receiver. When did he get good when Marvin Harrison went out?

20:35Andy Holloway:No, he was definitely not always good.

20:37Mike Wright:Yes, he was. He was always good, and we have incompetence at the offensive side of the football. Man. And, yeah, Marv, take it down. Well, yeah, it's funny because you say all this fantasy goodness, which is absolutely true right now. But if Marvin Harrison Jr. comes back, it kind of ruins it. So good to see you. We're glad you're back. I mean, it literally is like it hurts McBride. It hurts Michael Wilson. I'm not even sure it doesn't hurt Jacoby Brissett. You want the hyper consolidation. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, Marv did play well with Brissett right before he went out. Woody Marks, day-to-day for the Texans.

21:22Mike Wright:Drake London, hopeful that he's going to play this week. Why? That was surprising. I really hope he does because I want the Cardinals to lose, and that would be a great thing. And the Bears, a reminder this week for fantasy playoffs, the Bears play on Saturday against Green Bay. There's two Saturday games this week, right? I believe you're right. Ben Johnson said all options are on the table with Roma Dunze and that they need to protect him from himself.

21:50Andy Holloway:Like cut it off?

21:51Mike Wright:No. I mean, he said all options. To cut the foot off? Yeah. It's not the best option. I thought our philosophy was you could pop a toe off. You can't. But the feet we normally keep. Usually.

22:05Andy Holloway:But when all options are on the table. I guess you've got to take that off the table.

22:09Mike Wright:We might put him down. Well, okay. Two options are off the table. Okay. Luther Burden day-to-day with an ankle injury. Ricky Pearsall aggravated his PCL injury. Dude, that one. Yeah, you saw it on the field. The Pearsall was such a bummer. And also sprained his ankle.

22:24Andy Holloway:He was finally just like, oh, hey, look, Ricky Pearsall, you're back. You're in the offense. Hip drop. Rehurt. I don't like this one. Did they call that one? No, they don't call that one. They don't call any hip drop. It's hyper illegal.

22:39Mike Wright:They do not call them.

22:39Andy Holloway:Yeah, but those illegal formations. No. Not on my watch. I got my eyes on you. Are you two inches off the line of scrimmage? Whoa. It didn't affect the play? Oh, that was a touchdown? Check this out. Can't get away with that bull crap. I'm running the show. There's a sheriff on this field. Everyone's safe. Not on my field. Hip drops, no big deal.

24:22Mike Wright:All right. Week 16, guys. We're close to the end. Welcome to the Waiver Wire. All the Waiver Wire rankings are up on the website, thefantasyfootballers.com. We're going to talk through some names today. hey, there is a high priority right now for managers, maybe the highest priority. A lot of you are not, you've kind of got your lineups locked in. You might have a flex spot that you're playing around with. That would be one thing waivers can benefit you on. The other thing is going to be defending yourself from your opponent's best options, which means maybe blocking, picking up players, defenses, and keeping them off of their roster.

25:15Mike Wright:So it's going to be a mix and match at that. If you hear us talk about a name and you don't need that name, but your opponent might need that name, block it like it's hot. Yep. At running back, the highest opportunity situations, to me, it drills down into two spots. Agreed. Washington and Arizona. Mm-hmm. Chikori Kraiske-Meritt showed what a little consolidation could do. He's fast. Well, he was 18 for 96-1, but they play Philly. So that part sucks. But then Dallas in championship week, and you don't know if Chris Rodriguez will be back out there, if they'll give him more time. And in Arizona, we have kind of differing opinions there on who we think will be the most productive back.

26:01Mike Wright:I believe it'll be Amari DiMarcado in the absence of Bam Knight. Mike believes it'll be Michael Carter in the absence of Bam Knight. We have different reasoning for that.

26:10Andy Holloway:I don't disagree with your – I think you believe DiMarcado is the more explosive athlete, maybe a better running back. I don't know that I argue at all with that. I'm on the side of Michael Carter. I think he will be the one who gets the most opportunities, so, I mean, highest chance of scoring. The game with Atlanta, it might be fun. And Carter was okay. You know, he had, what, almost 100 yards from scrimmage, including four receptions, 14 carries. It's difficult to be the detective and figure out, based off of what has happened, what will happen for the Arizona Cardinals because you have – it was all over the place of after the Trey Benson injury, Michael Carter ends up being the guy.

27:01Andy Holloway:and then well DiMarcato had the big touchdown yes that he fumbled and then basically got benched and then it was like so but then so Michael Carter's the guy no then Bam Knight's the guy and then Carter gets hurt DiMarcato's the guy DiMarcato does his nonsense and then he also gets hurt and then this past week it's Michael Carter so it's I don't think it's not like a crystal clear next man up situation you're just you're kind of making your best probability I think

27:35Mike Wright:they'll see similar snaps genuinely I do and I think that DiMarcato will be the more productive player he had a running back 25 and 19 finish before he got hurt those were very relevant that's who I was playing in those weeks but I don't disagree that Carter might see the field a little bit more snap count but opportunity wise I think it'll be similar yeah and Carter will be probably more involved in the receiving game like when we have seen them together it's usually it's a it's a it's a tough decision to me as to which one to play like I was before we started this show before we started recording we we were in a 10 minute you two are looking up every stat on these two guys debating because you're both like very significantly you're very significantly on opposite like you think Carter's a great pickup you think Demarcato's a great pickup and I'm like, I don't know, man.

28:27Are either of these truly great pickups if they're splitting?

28:30Andy Holloway:Yeah, what does the split come down to? I don't know. But Michael Carter, seven targets, three, six, four, and four. Now, DiMarcado missed time in there. That's what I'm saying of the –

28:41Mike Wright:There's not enough sample with them together. Exactly. Because one game Carter's coming back from injury, so do you value that? One game DiMarcado's coming back from injury. Both of them are potential spot starts. That's the truth against Atlanta. Blake Corum has been very good. He had a career high in snaps. He scored again this past week. He keeps breaking off big runs. It is Seattle. He is highly rostered, but Corum is viable. I think personally one of the most interesting places to look at running back is the New Orleans Saints. their offense has been doing well with Tyler Shuck they are playing against the Jets Devin Neal is done Kendra Miller is done Alvin Kamara is currently injured I mean we don't know for sure that those two guys will be out but Evan Hull and Audrick Estame are there and I think someone is going to have good fantasy value against the Jets the Jets are terrible It's the 31st best defense against running backs.

29:50Did you even give the potential names? Yeah. Evan Hull and Audrick Estime.

29:57Mike Wright:Well, that's one of those ones where we haven't got to see what the depth chart and path is in a game where there wasn't an injury, which is always a little bit scary. I would put my money on Estime.

30:11Andy Holloway:Here's what doesn't make sense of this. Evan Hull his claim to fame, his production profile, great pass catching running back, at least huge production of that coming into the league Audrick Estame known plotter out of what, Notre Dame? He just, big thick boy it didn't work out in Denver so Devin Neal goes down to the hamstring injury so of course Audrick Estame gets three targets to Evan Hull's none

30:41Mike Wright:Yeah, that one's tough. I agree. I think it feels like Arizona light, but with a better matchup. Audrick Estime. That's who I would go. That's where I would put my chest up. I lean Estime. You were always an Estime. I was.

30:51Andy Holloway:I thought he had something. Well, he's a big body back. I mean, I would imagine if you. A triple B. If you were to get around the goal line, it's going to be Estime in my estimation. Yeah, I know where you're going. Stole it.

31:05Mike Wright:Important. Is it like a block? It's a preemptive. your joke I was in the tumboing um and then just pay attention to like you'd rather pick up Brian Robinson now if you got a midweek CMC surprise you'd rather pick up Jawor Jordan for Houston

31:23Andy Holloway:if you find out that Woody Marks is going to be he will be if if if Woody Marks is not actually day-to-day I mean we had oh he could have gone back in the game oh he's day-to-day who knows

31:35Mike Wright:It's Las Vegas. Exactly. George Johnson had 15 for one-on-one against the Cardinals. Sorry, Jordan. I said Johnson.

31:42Andy Holloway:If we found out that Woody Marks, he's going to miss this week, Jordan would be my preferred play of anyone we have talked about so far. The Texans are 14.5-point home favorites against Las Vegas. And part of the argument, at least that we heard from the coaching staff of Houston, was just the backups are playing so well. We don't even need to force Woody Marks back in there. I don't know the full truth about the injury, but that is an environment at home, huge favorite. 15 for 101 this past week for Jordan, even though we all have no idea who he really is. I would – that's nasty and scary, but it makes sense.

32:28Mike Wright:It's the playoffs. Yeah. You figure it out. Yeah. Do you guys have any interest in Bill Krosky? against Philly is... He would be at the top of the list for me. If Chris Rodriguez is out, he's still at the top. Of all those other guys. We just talked about multiple committees, conditional situations. He is definitely number one for me. And the Philly defense, obviously they've got this great defensive line, although Carter is out right now. Last week, Ashton Gentry, they shut him down, but also So the Raiders' offense was shut down. The Raiders' offense was shut down by at least half in part by the Raiders themselves.

33:11Mike Wright:All right, tell me what you think here at wide receiver because I said that I like Jaden Reed. We got six targets, five for 55. Did that underwhelm, overwhelm? It was good to see. It felt like Jaden Reed. Yeah, it did feel a lot like just Jaden Reed. but with Christian Watson and his chest injury, there is more opportunity there. Now, we saw really Matthew Golden be the one that stepped up more into that role. Please. I know. I cannot. Do you know how many rookie cards I got? I cannot in good conscience tell people to go out there and sign and play Matthew Golden when he's been such a disappearing act as a rookie.

33:55But you could see the path. So fast he is. You could see the path, you know, more of a DFS dart throw than someone I want to really plug into my playoff lineup, I would rather have Jaden Reed. He's a veteran that we know is a good wide receiver.

34:07Andy Holloway:It's a great matchup, too. I think Reed does make sense. Golden is so difficult of, I mean, waivers are running right now. I don't know if those guys will be hot commodities or not, but I would want to get more information over this week, number one on the Watson injury, and then two of do we hear anything about who will the two wide receivers be? Is it going to be Dobbs and Wicks? I think that would be the most likely. I do think that that's the most likely as well.

34:35Mike Wright:Golden can play a role in those big plays. He had the most yards since week seven this past week, stepping in with the injury.

34:41Andy Holloway:And Wicks did nothing. He was one for six, but he just shows up from time to time, which makes me just not really want to play Wicks, but it makes me more nervous about should Golden be the guy.

34:53Mike Wright:I still like Keishon Booty.

34:55Andy Holloway:Yeah, I agree. Really? 45 % roster.

34:58Mike Wright:I still like Keyshawn Booty. Yeah, he comes up with big plays. He scores often. I still like him. Yeah, I mean, I certainly can see a path for success, but with the way that the Patriots are playing, they're willing to spread the ball around. It could be a Hunter Henry game. It could be a Travion Henderson game. I think he had one target last week. I would say one of the most interesting names out there that is scary for sure, but Adonai Mitchell has been since his trade to the Jets he's been involved I mean the last three weeks nine targets six targets twelve targets once he was the wide receiver six and this past week the wide receiver 17 Adonai Missal Elijah had that you can't change that he is fast if you don't play for like 600 games you're allowed to retire your name it's a game Six for 58-1?

35:54It's a game in a dome. He's looked good. He's got a good target share. So if you're looking – like, I don't think this is a strong wide receiver waiver week.

36:01Mike Wright:Well, the Luther Burden injury complicates it. It's a big bummer. It's a Saturday game, and he was six for 84. And you look at that and say, well, Roma Dunze is probably done. I think that's the implications. Not putting him down or cutting his foot off. Okay, I thought that's – But I think he's probably going to rest. Forever, the deep – the long rest.

36:25yeah no I we'll miss you Rome Luther Burden would be really interesting if we know he's active and if he's not if he's not then Loveland oh Mr. Loveland

36:36Mike Wright:DJ Moore is going to have a day yeah can he? he'll have to yes he can he just had two touchdowns

36:43Andy Holloway:touchdowns aside what is DJ Moore's you're not allowed to set him aside what is his yardage high on the year I don't care if a dirty and Burden are gone

36:52Mike Wright:I mean, he had a couple of 70s in 69 yards last week. He's had three top 10 finishes in seven weeks.

36:58Andy Holloway:That was a very nice game. He's just so. Oh, my gosh.

37:02Mike Wright:So when I saw that, you see when I saw that play, by the way, when you see the teleportation ball in zone, the illusion, when I saw it, the very first thing I thought of instantaneously was the Dwight Clark catch from Joe Montana. I mean, oh, OK. And then I saw somebody later in the day. That was the first thing I thought of. They showed him side by side. And it is unbelievable. That's funny. Rolled right the same way, fade away, back of the end zone, amazing.

37:26Andy Holloway:Now, what if I give you this analysis? Week 9, DJ Moore 21 points, 0, 2.6, 21 points, 3.7, 0.1, 21 points. Is that really? That is really what DJ Moore has done. I think the injury situation around him makes DJ Moore a really good play. He's not going to be on waivers.

37:51Mike Wright:Yeah, Mitchell, Burden, Reed. There's another one. Troy Franklin. I was going to ask Franklin or Adonai. I mean, Franklin is one of those guys. Assuming Pat Bryant is still hurt. See, that's the issue. I would want Franklin very much. The Jacksonville Jaguars are putting up points. This could be a really great, interesting game between the Broncos and the Jacksonville Jaguars. if pat bryant is gone i'm very much i'm happy to start troy franklin still only played 50 50 percent of snaps yeah six targets 85 yards a touchdown looked good and he's really he's the type of player that can i mean you look back at the last seven eight weeks wide receiver 23 wide receiver one wide receiver 20 wide receiver 25 this past week wide receiver 10 he he gets it done so i mean obviously i love troy franklin but if pat bryant is active and healthy then i'd rather go adonai

38:45Andy Holloway:it's so weird little jordan humphrey pronounced with an umphrey thank you uh play it was on the field more than troy franklin now the production went to franklin it's just yeah the previous two

38:57Mike Wright:weeks for franklin he was on the field 53 finished as with two catches franklin is too they have learned he's too wiry to block they're like are we gonna throw the ball all right put franklin out there oh we're gonna run the ball you don't need to play 100 of snaps when you can't block he just feels volatile but all these guys i mean all these guys feel that way mitchell probably feels the least volatile of the group in terms of volume reed and mitchell feel the safest booty and franklin feel touchdown dependent jayden higgins did nothing this past week he feels nerve-wracking to me jaylen nailer keeps getting it done with mccarthy but i can't imagine having the courage to do that and and that kind of is the end of the list of relevance to me yeah um we'll take a break.

39:38Mike Wright:We'll talk the rest of the positions.

40:39Andy Holloway:I'm going to bring up one more wide receiver. We won't let Jeremy say his name, but it's Jalen Coker of the Carolina Panthers. Yeah, we won't let him do that. Over the past month, sorry, past four games, three of them, he's been a top 24 wide receiver. They're playing Tampa Bay. I like Bryce Young. I think he's a good player, man. Yeah, I think Coker is good as well. but I'm saying I like Bryce Young and the the Panthers offense this week against Tampa Bay so he is I think he's an option a deep option for could be a low-end wide receiver too feels a lot like Jalen Naylor to me where it's like it's good and he's been getting it done I don't know if I can trust it I mean nine nine points five fifteen and twelve that's his last four games yeah yeah I mean He got a touchdown the last two games, and he's also only usually getting about four targets, so it's very, very hard to trust.

41:39Mike Wright:Tight ends. Yes. Goo-goo-ga-choo. I don't know how he's on the wafer wire. I like Darren Waller a ton. I also like Colby Parkinson a ton. Colby Parkinson, to me, with the absence of Devontae Adams with his insane touchdown situation, like Colby Parkinson just scores. Yeah, the last five games, I believe he's got five touchdowns. Now, Tyler Higbee is eligible to return this week, which I think would obviously splash some significant cold water there, but we have not heard whether they plan to activate him or whether he's going to start. And I think Sean McVay is dealing with some family problem.

42:19Not a family problem. He had a baby. Oh, there it is. He had a baby. A personal matter. This is personal. It was a good personal. He had a baby boy Congratulations Sean McVeigh I'm on Jason's side My point is I just don't think we're going to know

42:37Mike Wright:I have three personal problems at home Yeah We all have some personal issues Going on at home But that to me No he didn't have the baby His wife had the baby It was not a junior situation Darren Waller to me is He's the pickup of the week I know that Likely and Andrews farted into a can and then smelled it this last week against the Bengals. But they did. We all smelled it. Yeah. Yeah. And they passed it around. Check out this can. Get a huff. Does this smell like popcorn to you? Ah, you got me. But I'm sticking with, like, the Ravens really shut down the Bengals. I'm not sure that the Dolphins are going to be able to do that.

43:30This is not going to be the same weather environment. I'm all in on playing Darren Waller this week. Oh, Waller's great. Against the Bengals.

43:36Mike Wright:I thought you were saying you're all in on Likely and Andrews, whereas I would go Loveland over those guys. I'd go Parkinson over those guys. No, yes, I would go Loveland to me. It goes Waller, Loveland. And there might be some Schultz going on this week. And Schultz is great. The doctor needs some respect. He does. He does. He's gotten so disrespected by Andy on his slow - He doesn't need respect. Right, sure. Okay, but he's the tight end 10 right now on the year. Yeah. He had eight for 76 and a touchdown this last week, and he's playing against the Raiders, so you could do worse. Yeah, you can't do worse than the Raiders, though.

44:12Mike Wright:No. The Raiders are the worst. Correct. They are worse than the Cardinals. They are abysmal. They are definitely worse than the Cardinals. They are so much worse. The Texans got to play the Cardinals and then the Raiders. There's a reason they're like 90-plus percent to make the playoffs now. Yeah, if there's anything wrong with Woody Marks, they don't need him this week. That's the scary thing about them. They really don't. They might not need – they might play nine on defense.

44:36Andy Holloway:The Raiders – Carl just posted this. The Raiders are averaging the fewest points per game on the road of any NFL team since 2012.

44:42Mike Wright:Oh, yeah, that's the – I mean, that's why I say they don't need Woody Marks. The Texans are at home again?

44:45Andy Holloway:The Texans can't – you're not going to score.

44:49Mike Wright:Don't show up.

44:50Andy Holloway:It might be a shutout. Don't show up. phew pique carroll stay home um there you go defense is looking ahead to week 17 as well

45:00Mike Wright:buffalo plays cleveland and chador this week and then philly new orleans plays the jets and brady cook and then cam ward in tennessee and they're on a roll their defense is playing uh definitely very you know it's solid it's solid every week and those are not intimidating quarterbacks Minnesota plays the Giants and Jackson Dart and then Detroit Houston plays Las Vegas this week then the Chargers who are the Chargers are a good offense they got good pieces but you are going to sack Justin Herbert 100 times in that game I'm in on that I was literally when I realized the run of this Texans and what a great defense I don't know who has them in our league of record I mean they're very rostered no no no this is a personal thing I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't Josh.

45:47Oh, that you weren't going to run into it? Yeah. I don't know. Who's your defense, Josh? Seattle. Oh, okay. All right. I mean, that's great.

45:57Mike Wright:Kansas City plays Tennessee this week, but they got nothing to play for. I don't know if you saw Chris Jones. That was embarrassing. Oh, he didn't know they were eliminated? Yeah, in the press conference, he's like, we still got a fighting chance. And then they're like, no, you don't. And he goes, are we eliminated? And they're like, yeah. And he's like, oh. And he looks so sad. His life's still good. So talk to me about the Chiefs. I have rostered the Chiefs in preparation for this matchup, but the San Francisco 49ers could not stop the Titans enough to do anything, couldn't sack Cam Ward. The Chiefs are a significantly better defense, but now that they don't have anything to play for, do you think it's a good play?

46:35I don't. I think it's medium. Yeah, but Mike, you would play against them then. I think it's medium. I believe you are lying to me.

46:43Mike Wright:This is funny. No, I think it's a medium start. I mean, it was not good for Cleveland in Cleveland against Tennessee. It was not good for San Francisco in San Francisco against Tennessee. They make a play or two, a bigger play. And I think it's medium. It's not bad. It's just not as good as some of the others.

47:01Andy Holloway:The good times, the resurgence that Tony Pollard has had the last couple weeks, I think it's over. It will not happen against the Chiefs.

47:09Mike Wright:Yeah, the Chiefs, man. They haven't played. this will be the first game that they've played out of playoff contention in 10 years that's wild that's a good run I'm not crazy there man they just lost two straight games where they gave up 16 and 20 points only and they lost them

47:32Andy Holloway:defense is still good

47:33Mike Wright:Detroit plays Pittsburgh and Minnesota and then San Francisco plays the Colts and Phillip Rivers that looks good and then Chicago all the waiver wire rankings are up on the site Let's talk. Well, hold on. Hold on. Nope. Yep. Nope. I hit the wrong button. Okay. Here we go. Is this what we were looking for? I guess my streamer. Let's see if this works on top of it.

47:59Full stream ahead. Nope. Beautiful. A-class production over here. Hold on. You're going to need to hit that button again.

48:08Mike Wright:I don't know.

48:12Mike Wright:yeah i say we just go with it cj stroud against the raiders we can't make it stop no we can oh fine mike boring guy over here mr boring cj stroud's my streaming quarterback against the raiders he was the quarterback nine against the cardinals uh he should be good for two touchdowns big plays nico is uh firmly entrenched as a you know just a dominator he goes a dog i'd love i'll Bill Stroud. Yeah, I'm going to go Jacoby Brissett, the top 12 quarterback.

48:46Andy Holloway:It's illegal for Jacoby to be in this area. It really is. I cannot believe he's still only 50 % rostered. You mean after nine consecutive top 12 weeks? That's what shocks you? He's the only quarterback that has not been outside the top 12, and the Texans had not given up a top 12 performance against anyone all year, including Mahomes and Josh Allen and all these guys. Nope, he still did it. So, yeah, I think against Atlanta at home, he's not stopping. It should be a good situation. And I brought him up earlier, but Bryce Young is my streaming quarterback of the week. This is going to be a fun game.

49:22Andy Holloway:You know, the playoffs are on the line for both teams. And over the last six weeks, Tampa is dead last in schedule-adjusted fantasy points to the quarterback position. may alan stafford jacoby tyler shuck and kirk cousins i mean tell me who doesn't belong in that list and it's honestly probably three of them yeah but but they're this is just what's

49:47Mike Wright:happening with tampa bay also shout out to tyler shuck against the jets as honorable mention and also he he's going to be the quarterback yeah i think he's going to be the quarterback he got

49:57Andy Holloway:pretty banged up last week. I think he still plays, just saying of the it's something to watch of. He's fine. Probably. He's totally fine. But I would... Well, I think he's in consideration of the three guys we mentioned. Go watch the tape, man.

50:13Mike Wright:Go watch the tape. Tyler Shuck is playing great. Chase Young came out and said, starting to look like that guy.

50:20Andy Holloway:We like to make fun of... You are that guy. We like to make fun of the old guys, the old rookies. He had 26 or whatever. and young for a quarterback if you can play he has a lot he's got experience you have that seriously though we want the upside of Anthony Richardson, Trey Lance guys who have really not many college starts but they got the tools and they're athletic and you're like here's boring Tyler Shuck who's just played in college for 60 years I don't know how he played so long COVID helped, gave him an extra year Well, there's rules about eligibility and stuff.

50:57Mike Wright:Yeah, but he had an injury, one or two injury, red shirts, and then he got a COVID red shirt. Yellow shirted, blue shirted. Every shirt you could wear. Look, Tyler Shuck, here's what's great about him. He can run the football. He's extremely tough. He's extremely smart, and he has elite arm talent. He can make throws that other quarterbacks can't make. Now, does he do it perfectly, consistently, instantly with this team? He hasn't, but he's 3-3 as a starter. Should be 4-2. Gives Chris Olave, who's now the wide receiver, 10. weekly stability and relevance.

51:26Andy Holloway:We'll remind people, Valle was, if you didn't see it, Devon Valle was spotted in a sling like yesterday. And that would, if Valle, I know, I know. That really helps Olave. But if Valle is not going to play, I would be a little more nervous about the Shuck start. Tyler Shuck played college school on the same team as Justin Herbert. Herbert has been in the league for six years.

51:52Mike Wright:Well, he's older than Trevor Lawrence. Crazy. Who's playing so well.

51:58Andy Holloway:Yeah. This week against Denver is going to be a lot. Famous last word. I know.

52:03Mike Wright:I know, but it should.

52:04Andy Holloway:This is a massive, massive test for the Jets. If they beat Denver. Is it in Denver? Wow, yeah.

52:10Mike Wright:If they beat Denver this week, they're a legit contender, man. I've been on the cusp of just their consistency on the defensive side of the football. So you have to have Travis Eaton against Denver. Is that what you're saying?

52:22Andy Holloway:Mm-hmm. But all alone. But all alone, which is good. I will say I don't want to take anything away from Trevor Lawrence. He's been playing fantastic. But it is the context. You know, you look at the last few games, and it was like, okay, it was the Jets, the Titans, the Cardinals, and the Colts. It's like this is going to be the test. Fair.
