Usually not the best sign. What do we got there? What do we have? Starbucks. Well, no. What do you have in your Starbucks drink? Oh, it's a green tea lemonade. Okay, definitely something that's impossible to make at home. Lemonade and green tea. All right, y 'all. I'm sure there's 10 times as much sugar. Okay, well, thanks for coming down, though. I do appreciate it. I know it's a long drive, so you got probably how you excused that spending. What do you do in Fort Worth for a living? I work in boutique construction sales.
2:30What the fuck? Okay. What even is that? So I work with customers whose homes are a million plus. And I mostly focus on windows and like big door systems. Okay. Stuff like that. Cool. What do you make? I salaried at 66 a year. Okay. And then I also do earn commissions. but I never like I earn commissions but I don't count on them well okay what's like a normal monthly commission amount um probably like 600 okay maybe about 600 is that what hits your account or is that like extra before taxes that's what hits my account usually okay so an extra seven thousand two hundred dollars a year hits your account that's not bad okay when you say it like that yeah but it's just when i say it like numbers yeah it's not guaranteed money so i said what comes in on average for a monthly basis so we can kind of average that out and add that up right yeah higher yeah it can be higher sometimes if i have a good month sometimes yes then you average it out yeah it's safe to say an extra seven thousand two hundred dollars hits your account on a yearly basis or else like you know six hundred is like averaged because someone a Yes.
3:47Can we say$7 ,200 hits your account on a yearly basis? Yeah. Like we need to be able to get your numbers. Yes. Yes. Yeah. That's the math. Yes. Okay. I just haven't done that math. Why would you not rely on such a substantial part of your income? I'm confused. Because I like to have hobbies. Because I like to have hobbies. What the hell does that mean? How does that even answer my question? I don't. I budget my regular paycheck for my like necessities. And then I budget my commissions for my hyper fixation hobby. Your what? My hyper fixation hobby, whatever it is. Your hyper fixation hobby. Yep.
4:29So you're endlessly, are you someone that's endlessly into something like crazy for a moment? Then you fall off it and then you're in the next thing? Because that sounds like an endless revolving door of spend, spend. it can be that way sometimes sometimes well is it you call it a fixation hobby so well i'll get like really into one thing and then i'll move on to something else like six months later what i literally just defined yeah but it's not like for one month it'll be longer than that okay i'm so confused i mean we've had a couple episodes now in a row where people budget based on the different kind of pays that come in instead of just like the income that comes in regardless like why aren't you budgeting in terms of just your total income and then decide where money goes based on that based on our goals objectives and current financial situation which is not a good financial situation which is why that purchase was probably bad but why would our bonuses not be going to that i think a pretty good hobby is getting out of debt That's a good hobby.
5:34Well, actually, speaking of hyper fixation, you've gotten out of debt. So you've hyper fixated out of debt. Yes, I have. Hyper fixated dropping out of the Dave Ramsey program. Now you've hyper fixated going into debt. Yeah, that's pretty accurate. I did Dave Ramsey a long time ago. What's a long time ago? Not that old. 2021. Okay. I don't think you know what a long time ago is, but three years ago. Yeah. Why are we here then? Because my situation changed and I just started. I did Dave Ramsey in 2019 to 2021. And I was in like$37 ,000 of debt back then. It's a lot. It is a lot. And there's a lot of reasons why.
6:23But I got myself out of it. And then I saved for a long time and I went to college. I took two years off. I went to college. I got a bunch of degrees and certificate. A bunch of degrees? Yeah. That's a bunch of degrees. Well, I got like my BA and then I got a minor. I had a minor and I was pre-law, but I didn't go to law school. And then I got certificates. So you got the normal degrees. Yeah, I guess. And then I got. You think everyone's getting a bunch of degrees? I mean, sometimes. Yeah, but you're just graduating like normal isn't getting up. Okay. and what were your certifications? I did a legal studies certificate, a data analytics certificate, and I got my CAPM because I want to get my PMP for project management.
7:10What are you trying to do? With the law and then tech, I'm very confused. I don't know. And my BA is in political science. Yeah, I mean, a lot of people do that before they go into law school and it sounded like you were setting yourself up for law school. Yeah, but I'm 31 and now I just don't want to be in school for six more years. So I don't blame you. And the expense. What do you want to do? No. What do you want to do? I haven't decided yet. I want to. You're not 21 anymore. No, I'm not. Listen, you have to do something at some point, even if it's not your dream thing, because if you don't, you end up in this situation constantly.
7:53Yeah. The situation of being in really debt. yeah missing payments days dave ramsey when i was like when i went through dave ramsey that was like i never had any financial literacy before congratulations welcome to the american experiment or human experience yeah i just what everyone goes through i just kind of spent and spent and then i didn't know how i was going to go back to college ever and i was was your plan when going through that program to go back to college yes be able to take two years off of working it's not like they don't talk about how to do college i think they go about it in a little more extreme way necessarily but if you were going through the program you would have probably followed that i believe you've done the exact opposite i have student loans in here yes which i'm not necessarily as opposed to as a tool but i know if you were actually going through that program you wouldn't have taken out student loans so i'm a little confused you can't blame that what are you doing well i didn't have like a lot of uh like i didn't have enough money saved in uh my savings to cover the last semester so you weren't going through that program though and again i'm not necessarily opposed to that but you're blaming the program it wasn't the program no i just i like I was young and I like I've been on my own for a long time since I was 16.
9:19Okay, two years before most. Yeah. Sure. I moved like I'm from Alaska and I moved to Texas by myself. And why just to start over to go to college. Why 16? No, when I moved to Texas when I was 20. Why were you on your own at 16? I had a much older boyfriend who I wanted to. What's much older? He was 23 when I was 16. I thought you were going to say like 40 if you say much older. Is it older? Is it inappropriate? Yes, of course. Yeah. You know, when you say the word much. Also, like when you said a long time ago, three years ago. It's like, okay, I see you are obviously an over-exaggerator of things.
10:00I moved in with him, and my mom and I were not getting along and stuff like that. And she was a single mom. Like, I was just done. I'd been an adult for so long. You moved in with him, okay. Yeah, and I had my own life and I did my own thing. And we just smoked and played video games. And I thought I was an adult. Yes, that's what adults do. I just lived my life. And then when I was 20, we had split up and I decided I was moving to Texas to go to college. But I had no financial literacy. I had no help. I had nothing teaching me how to be an actual adult. So I just started taking out credit cards.
10:42You haven't looked up anything? I mean, yeah. I didn't have financial literacy either, but then I pursued it by trying to read things, listen to podcasts, whatever I could do. Google, understanding. Now I have that. Watch your documentaries. What are you talking about? No, you don't. But I don't make good choices all the time. Then what's even the point? I want to get out of debt for once and for all. How would this conversation change that? uh because you went through the program then you're blaming the program then you got back in debt and now and it's not just student loans if it's just student loans we probably wouldn't be having this conversation it'd be too boring that's true okay so what are you talking about want to get out of debt once for all that's okay that's a good thing actually that's great whoa wonderful but what is different this time because none of it matters if we just end up here again what is the point of putting in that massive amount of sacrifice again if we just end up right back here because i'm older now i want to like settle down and i want to like have a family and i have nothing you have a boyfriend i i don't anymore as of like a week and a half ago we uh we split up so i'm single again hear that and that's part of this like i want to get my finances under control because now i'm in a single income and i have to move do you have a kid no No.
12:05No. Wait. Okay. Settle down. Want a family, but we don't have any of the. Yeah, I'm starting over again. I get that. That's okay. That's okay. I just. I thought I had found my person. What happened? Well, turns out that he was like way more conservative than I thought he was. And. What does that even mean? I could not see myself ending up with somebody that was such a Republican. I couldn't I couldn't do it. Okay, so you guys disagreed about politics? Yeah, among other things like religion and like how to raise kids and a couple other things. But sounds like you guys were completely incompatible.
12:45Why? How long are you guys together? Okay, so we knew each other for 12 years, almost. And then we were friends for eight of those years. And then last year, we decided to give it a try. And we thought we could work one year. Yeah, we thought we could give it like we thought we could give it an honest effort and like honest effort through being completely incompatible. not agreeing on any kind of what was the kicker i told him like i couldn't do it anymore and i couldn't i didn't know if i could handle it anymore but i made him kind of put the final nail in the coffin if you will and do the final breakup you made him yeah because i want i wanted to keep trying i wanted to keep i wanted to keep like i wanted an option for compromise and i I wanted an option to build a life together and all that.
13:33And he was like, yeah, I think we're just better as friends. We're too different. It's over. So now when we share a house and utilities. You guys are still renting together and everything. Yes. Yes. Well, we, yes. How have your finances been impacted in terms of this? Well, now I have to find a new apartment that's going to cost more than my half of the rent. And I have to start paying all the utilities for a new apartment by myself. that's going to be a lot more money. What have you guys discussed? Because this is going to impact everything we're about to go through. We have to be out of our house January 5th.
14:08It's coming in like two seconds. Yeah. Well, originally we were going to buy this house from the homeowner. We're renting directly from a homeowner, not an agency or anything like that. Okay. And a pipe burst under our house in late October. and then we were supposed to sign on December 17th to buy the house out from the homeowner. You guys were going to buy it? Yes. You weren't married, correct? No, we were not. We were actually supposed to be getting engaged this week. Supposed to be getting engaged. You were planning an engagement? Yeah. It wasn't even like a, no one proposed? Not yet. Okay.
14:42But you knew when to, okay, whatever. After only dating for a year and being completely opposites in terms of values in life? Yeah, pretty much. Sounds like you go through life irresponsibly. Okay.
14:56And? So we were supposed to buy the house. Yeah. And the homeowner decided that he wasn't going to sell it to us anymore because we wanted him to fix the pipe. And so he said, yeah, I'm not selling it to y 'all anymore. It won't pass an inspection. I'm selling it to the city. And y 'all have to be out. So now we have to, like, that happened and we're breaking up. And it was like a. So what's the plan, though? I am going to have to move into an apartment. That's it? Yes. That's it? Yes. Okay? Okay. All right. Self-assessed. We're about to get into the docs. Where do you think you are today? Zero to ten.
15:35Zero being the absolute worst, ten being the absolute best. Where do you think you are today in your entire financial situation? I think that I'm like a four. Realistically. You just went back into debt after getting out of debt. And you're talking about not being able to afford a place on your own. In what world would you be almost straight down the middle? Because, like, I don't have a, like, I'm not insanely in credit card debt. And, like, I don't. I think having fees up the asshole would count as pretty damn bad, regardless if you have a thousand credit cards or not. How about you make payments on time?
16:12And then we call it being okay. Yeah. You call yourself okay, you miss payments? I don't know if I've missed any payments I don't know maybe I have You don't even know So how could you give yourself so confidently A four and you don't even know I just thought I wasn't that bad Compared Compared to the homeless man On the side of the road Maybe not like that bad But you know I don't have any retirement And now I don't have real estate either but like I make that you didn't have I didn't I didn't have real estate I'm not sure maybe not a four you want your hammer financial score it's linked it's fun it's free it's in the description below and if you want to come on down to Austin Texas come on down we'll have you on the show it'll be a good time we'll have fun and then I'll verbally give you some punches and it'll be a good time and go to calebhammer.com slash apply Thanks for being here, by the way.
17:14I think I thanked you at the beginning, but regardless, thanks for being here. And I know it was a decent drive and all that stuff. So what is going on with this Alaska Mileage Bank of America card? That's my like everyday card. I just put everything on there all the time, pretty much. Why would you do that if there's interest accruing? Why the f*** would you put everything on there every day? Well, I thought that was how you were supposed to do it, too. because I'm like building credit. You're 31. Listen, you do the 18, 19, 20. I don't know anything about finances. Fine. You've been through a lot of life.
17:50You've paid off cards. You've gone through education. You've gone through literal education from the Ramsey people. So that doesn't make sense. You know that's incorrect or you were just stupid while you were going through it all or you forgot it all. Which one was it? I think I mostly forgot it all. No, you don't forget something as basic as that. Come on. Oh, interest is bad. Oh, wait, I forgot. I mean, what? We went on a big family vacation in October, and I put a lot of money on that card that I wouldn't. Where'd you guys go? What'd you do? We went to Florida. We went to Daytona Beach, and then we went to Universal for a few days.
18:28Why'd you go when you're drowning in debt? Because I have to go. No. Do you want like. What? I'm in love with Shrek, and they have a new Shrek area at Universal. That's not cute. Shut the. up. I don't care. You can go to Universal at any time. You're 31. Why are you acting like you're 13? Because I like to have fun. I have a countdown on my phone to Shrek 5, the movie coming out. That's cute. That doesn't mean we go into I'm confused. Have you ever been to Universal? Have you ever been to Shrek Land? No, Shrek Land just opened in May. So you had to go. No, but we went like all my friends. You're not a Disney adult.
19:05You're a Shrek adult. Yeah, I'm a Universal person, not a Disney person. Cool, but does that... Listen, I'm confused. That's okay to be into something. That's okay to be into something and have a passion, right? Yeah, absolutely. But does it make sense to go into thousands of dollars into debt on something that is accruing interest and things that have missed payments? Late payments. Does that make sense? No. No, it does not make any sense. Then why would you do it? Because I wanted to take care of the people that took care of me while I was in college. What do you mean? Who did you take care of?
19:37So, well, I went with my best friend and her husband and her daughter and then me and my boyfriend. But you're not in a position to take care of them. Why not get out of debt, have a fully funded emergency fund, make sure we're decent on retirement and then treat them? You don't get to treat people if it f***s yourself. I didn't think about it that way. I just wanted, I graduated in December of last year and we wanted to go somewhere. Oh, you just graduated recently. Yes. And I wanted to do something that was really nice. When did you go to school? You said you moved on to here and to school. It took me 10 years to graduate.
20:10I went off and on. Oh, my good death. I went off and on and I paid for I went to community college. I took a class. You went to every college, apparently. I took a class. In order to do it 10 years? Sorry, go ahead. I took a class when I could pay for it. And I changed majors a couple times. And I took some time off. Like, I did take a couple of, like, you know, when I quit before it. Why? Why are you delaying this whole thing by a decade, though? because you just you lost the best decade of your life for compound growth in the marketplace you're literally f***ing your retirement by doing this like it becomes not worth the cost at that point when you elongate it that long and then lose any time in the market yeah and i did have a 401k uh what are you did yeah i cashed it out i mean in a tum why did you why why did you cash it Because I wanted to do the finance when I was doing the financial peace thing.
21:03I wanted to pay off the last of my debt. But you weren't doing it because he doesn't say pull from a 401k. I thought he did. I don't think so. I. Oh, maybe I did it. I know I stopped contributing to my 401k. Yeah, he says that. When I started the program and then I was going to quit my job. When did you go through this? It was 2019. How did it go so far? 2018 to 2020. Like, what did you? How did it go so wrong from you? For you? I feel like you listen to half. I went to like a YMCA every Wednesday night for an hour and a half. And went to sleep. I thought I was following the program. How do you think you're following a program without following the program?
21:50Like, I'm confused. You objectively didn't. He's against student loans in every way of fashion. I don't necessarily agree with that. I think you can get a good return on your investment with low cost, low interest, federal student loans, as long as you're doing it in an appropriate way with a good major, community college first. But he's against that. You did it. So you didn't follow the program. And I do not think he says pull from a 401k. I know he says stop contributing. Yeah, I stopped contributing. But you weren't following it. What are you talking about? I thought I was. No, but how can you think that?
22:19I'm so confused. How can you think that if you were not at all? Pretty sure that Dave Ramsey, the financial piece, said to pull my 401k. I'm pretty sure.
22:37No. I mean, just, I don't even know what to say. I mean, I haven't. I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. I mean, that was years. That was a few years ago. So maybe I'm wrong. But a long time ago. But I thought that's what I needed. Like my last big debt was my car. No, you took a shortcut. He's typically against stuff like that because, again, you didn't make any sacrifice to change any behavior to pay off your debt if you're pulling from a 401k. Wait, how much was pulled from this? Oh, it was only like maybe$1 ,900. I didn't have like a substantial. That would have been$4 ,000 by now. Yeah. That would have been like$50 ,000 by retirement or something.
23:15Yeah, I understand that now, but I didn't. You would have understood that going through that program if you actually paid attention. That's what's irking me. As you say, you went through it, but you're doing things now and then that were not in that program. And I'm not even like defending the program. You just what you're saying makes no sense. This is huge for financial audit. For a year now, my team and I have worked with experts to create what I truly believe are the three best educational programs in the financial space online. We have our budgeting program where I teach you how to create, manage and revolutionize your budget and control your money.
23:54And then there's the investing program where I teach you to define what investing profile applies to you and your life and then teach what specific investing strategies applies to you in that situation. And now finally, we have our debt program where I teach you the best ways to pay off debt, manage debt, and even take advantage of good debt. This has been a revolutionary project that we've been working on for over a year now. And just like over 10 ,000 people who've already taken our educational programs, you can now take advantage of all three of them bundled together at a 15 % discount. I've heard from thousands of people now who've taken these classes and they've literally changed their lives for the better.
24:35And finally, you can too at a more affordable price. Head to calebhammer.com or click the link in the description below. You will not regret this. I didn't know that. Okay, great. I'm sorry. I thought I was - Did you know anything ever? I mean, yes. Because you're like, oh, I had no basis of financial education. Then you actually tried to learn something. But then you did completely the opposite of what was taught in the financial education thing. So it's like if I give you our budgeting, investing and our debt class, are you taking the classes, the quizzes and then you're doing the opposite of it?
25:07Is this how you operate? No, I want to do it like I want to do it now and like set myself up and get invested. What is different this time? Because I'm older now and I have an understanding. That means nothing. I know mature 24 year olds and immature 55 year olds. That means nothing. Age is nothing. That's what you're doing. Your experience and your maturity less about how long you've been here. Yeah. What is different now? Well, yeah, I mean, you already answered it and that's not a good answer. I want to have I want to set myself up for a better. I have very small 401k. I want to like start investing heavily in that pay off my debt as quick as possible and get back on a big.
25:44I want to wreck. because of Shrek's fucking giant green. No, I wanted to take my friends. I'm sure that thing's fucking busting swamps. I wanted to take my friends, and I bought FastPasses for everyone. You bought FastPasses? Wait, how much did you spend on this trip? When was this? The beginning of October. Like two seconds ago. Hold on. Hold on. Okay. Whoa. Multiple questions coming from this. Sorry. I want to let everyone know there's$10 ,475 on here, and a minimum payment of$223 ,000. I realize I didn't say that. Multiple questions from here. You literally just told me you want to get out of debt.
26:25You want to get retirement. This was a month ago. No way has your entire life structure, mindset, goals, everything changed in a month. So that has to be incorrect. You have to be bullshitting or you're vaguely just starting to want to and you're pretending like you actually care about it. And two, How much did this cost? Well, we booked the trip back in like June. I don't give a fuck. That's also not that long ago, but how much did this cost? How about you answer either of my questions? Well, the fast passes were like... The trip, how much did everything cost? The whole trip, I probably spent$4 ,500.
27:07Mind you, to survive, to survive, you pulled out$2 ,000 from your 401k, but you're willing to spend$4 ,500 on Shrek's ass? I didn't think of it that way. I wanted to take care of the people. Again, and that's why I asked, do you think about anything ever the correct way? And then you got a little insulted, but just look at that. Come on, look at that answer. Yeah, it sounds bad. I mean,$3 ,600 for fast passes was part of that. And I had a great time. And I got to take care of the people who took care of me while I was in school. I get that. That is a fine mindset. And I am not against your mindset of cariness and kindness.
27:49It is how you did it. Do you understand it is how you did it? Absolutely. Like, yes. I wouldn't do it again, I guess. But at the time, I just wanted to have fun. So on here, you literally purchased$2 ,031. Why are we doing that when it is accruing$120 in interest? That's the card that I swipe for everything. I get that. I'm asking why you're putting it on this card. For f*** sake. Come on. You already gave that answer before. Because I get Alaska Airline Miles and I go home. So for every dollar you spend, you get miles back. Yeah, yeah. And like certain cash. Who does that cash back come to typically?
Read the full transcript
28:38I don't know what it equates to exactly Why the f*** are you defending it like that? You don't even know how the math works? No, but it's expensive to fly home It is expensive to fly Having this credit card is$120 a month expensive What are you talking about? Well, I just don't really I mean, I just want the airline miles Because then I don't have to pay It's like$1 ,200 to fly home for me So I want to be able Like if I earn enough airline miles Then I can go home for free It's not for free You're paying$120 a month to have it How much is an Alaska Airlines ticket booked months in advance? Like$1 ,200.
29:12$1 ,200. Yeah. And how often do you get a$1 ,200 flight for free? Well, I normally go home like twice a year at least. And is it fully free? Yeah. $1 ,200. So you get. Well, you pay like. You get$2 ,400 of flights for free a year. Yes. Well, yeah. Usually you have to pay like a little bit of a fee. What? Like a$12 or$14. There is no way you're beating the interest on here. There is no way that the miles and everything that you receive is a 60 % return on your money. Because this is probably at 30 % and you're achieving$120 in interest on a monthly basis. There is no way. You have to be incorrect mathematically.
29:52There could be no world where that is a reality. But this, I don't normally carry, well, no, I do carry a balance on that card. Yeah, there's$10 ,000 in here. What do you do? I don't What were you about to say I was going to say that I put everything on it because I get the airline You already said that That's why I do it Yes but I'm trying to say that You have to be incorrect About the return on this You cannot be getting that$2400 in flights A year That is impossible that you are getting that Because there is no way that they are giving you A 60 % return on your money because you are losing 30 on here your math is not mathing dude i've never done the math i don't think i know that is the most clear thing and that is the most correct thing you've said so far today i just i didn't know that i just look at the what which one the benefit i just you the benefit of having the alaska airlines you get a companion pass too every year.
30:59So you get to do a buy one, get one free plane ticket with that credit card every year. So that's, this sounds like a great credit card. I love this credit card. This credit card has a great benefits. You are not getting the return on it though. You are paying essentially $120 a month in fees to have access to this credit card. And there is no way there is no mathematical way that if you're paying that on a monthly basis, that you are reaping double that reward there is no way that everything the credit no credit card would exist if that is the case and that's the only way for what you said is doing you're doing to be true is if you beat the game unlike anyone else in the history of the world i didn't know that no what that there was fees on there oh is it it's just the interest it's the interest understand okay yes the interest yes yeah i get that now it's i don't i just didn't think about that like i like i get i keep the card because i have the benefits of the airline miles and the companion pass and hey i want to let you know a little thing i don't know if you do this in every single conversation your entire way out of being pushed back on anything is i didn't think about that so far in this entire conversation the moment you get pushed back and you realize oh maybe i'm not right?
32:19The only thing you've ever said in this conversation is once you get to that moment is, I didn't think about that. And you are not going to get through life on, I didn't think about that. I'm calling bullshit on that now because that can no longer be exactly how you're living every second of your life. I will excuse that for maybe one thing, but you have said that now about everything. The moment when you finally realize that, okay, hey, maybe I'm not actually getting the return I thought I was getting. And then you're like, I didn't think about that. You've said that like four or five times in this conversation so far.
32:52And I'm not trying to be a dick, but that is absolutely ridiculous. And you are going to fucking like die and starve in life. And then you're going to be, oh, I didn't think about that. I didn't drink water for two days. Now I have to get hospitalized. Oh, I didn't think about that. That is not how this is going to work. And that is your entire excuse around everything so far. And that is unacceptable. And that is not a way out. And I'm not going to let you off. Okay. I, okay. I didn't, okay. What? For f***ing what? Say your words. I don't, like I did the, I did the finance. She's really struggling not to say I didn't think about it.
33:31No, no, no, no. I did the, so I did the financial piece, right? And I don't think that I understood, like I did close a lot of credit cards and I took, you know, a lot of stuff. Did you not think about financial peace while you were doing it? What, spending that$10 ,000? No No when going through financial peace I didn't get to the later baby steps I haven't gotten there yet Well no shit Because I haven't gotten out of debt again Did you complete the program? Like I did all eight weeks Or whatever of the classroom I don't know how it works Did you complete it? Yeah I just didn't do all the I haven't done all the baby steps Because I didn't get there Because you refused to leave what I think is considered step one You have a thousand hours in savings?
34:16Yeah. I have a thousand dollars in savings. Okay, so you made it to number two. Right, Dave? Am I doing this correct? Well, in your checking account, are you considering that? It's not set aside. Yeah, that's where I keep my liquid cash. Yeah, liquid savings, liquid cash. That makes no sense. There is actually money in there. But again, you're just sitting there. I'm confused. Because I get scared. Scared of what? Like it not being liquid or not being liquid. It could be liquid. Dude, if you put it literally in, it could be any high yield savings account or Moo Moo. It's an app I used to invest, but you could literally sit it in there uninvested.
34:54And I think they're uninvested cash for the first three months or 9%. You can get it out whenever without a fees? No, no fees. I didn't know. You're not going to get through life being afraid or I didn't think about that or not being able to look up anything yourself. self i'm confused because i feel like gosh i'm really sorry i uh the conversation stack and i've just had a lot of people that are like oh you know i'm 30 whatever now and it's just like i came from not knowing anything about finances that's everyone in the united states of america and honestly the world that you get bored you get bored not knowing anything and then what you learn is what you learn and if you didn't learn it you know that finances are a part of your life you You have the ability to read a book, go to a library, Google things, listen to a show, and then you signed up for a program.
35:49And then you still didn't even help. So I'm confused. Like that can't be an excuse throughout the rest of your life as I didn't know anything about finances. You've had over a decade of almost a decade and a half of adulthood now. Since you left home more than a decade and a half now. That's true. OK. Yeah. So it's all on you at this point. All on you. I think it just hasn't been a priority. Why? Why would it not be a priority then? Because I just wanted to do what I wanted like this. I wanted to spend and I wanted to go on vacation and I wanted to do other things. Like we bought we got into this house this this year and we had a lot of, you know, furniture to buy and a lot of things to buy.
36:31Is no one willing to live scrappy anymore? No, we did. I lived on an air mattress for like seven months while I was fighting to get out of debt. We tried to. We got a couch from family and some dishes and stuff. But there's still like. If you try to, how do you fail at trying to not buy furniture? The only way to fail at that is buying furniture. Yeah, that's true. Because I wanted to buy like some nice like curtains. You try to get out of things so easily. I wanted curtains and I wanted a coffee maker. And we needed. Do you not realize this about your personality? One bad thing. I have a couple bad things about my personality.
37:06I'm a bit abrasive. I interrupt a lot. And I play devil's advocate a lot. One thing about your personality, let's just call out our red flags real quick. You immediately try to get out of any kind of pushback and excuse yourself. Because I said, why couldn't we live scrappy for a bit? You said, I tried to. That is not correct because we immediately discovered that you wanted to go buy all this extra stuff. You didn't try to. Are you a small business owner stressed about cash flow? But then you still went and purchased furniture. Yeah, we needed a couple other things. What did you need? Well, we have a lot of land, so we spent like$2 ,000 on a riding lawnmower. Yeah, we have like almost four acres. Wait, how much on this riding lawnmower? It was$2 ,000. Oh, for f***ing.
39:34It was used. It was a used lawnmower. What other furniture? You said furniture. Well, we needed, like I wanted a home gym. Wanted? That's not... You f***ing... You have multiple acres to f***ing f***ing f***ing f***ing f***ing f***ing f***ing f***ing. I wanted like patio furniture wanted you keep saying wanted you did not need you did not need patio furniture we needed curtains there were no curtains in the entire house you could go very cheap with that if you wanted to yeah actually you know what I used in my new home for a while and I don't recommend this because I could afford but I literally used the fucking we already had some used stuff that you put behind people when you take pictures and i just put that like a backdrop you just put backdrops over your windows i didn't feel like spending money for a little bit okay i mean now i didn't need to do that but it shows that you can be scrappy i'm not saying you had to do that but come on the patio furniture it was important to me for the house to feel like a home like sure you build up to it you did not need that immediately i wanted it to feel settled i know what you wanted you just told me you did not need that immediately that's true i i you did not need to ride shrek's magical dong coaster at universal yeah i wanted it i wanted it well either way for universal which must have was it on this card even it was but as a previous statement like i said we wanted it to be 10 000 well we booked it we booked it in june and so like i've been paying you know i've been paying towards the card and a lot like some eating out and stuff like that while we were in florida on that card but it wasn't on this statement so i feel like there's going to be something every month with you because again i'm here this is kind of spending you had the we have to decorate house month we you know and then we have to get the travel month and it's always going to be something do you at least use the gym do you usually use the patio furniture oh for no not always we i like to entertain so we have people over and we'll use the and they just sit in the gym no they sit on the patio furniture occasionally but not as much as i would like i mean it yeah i i i just wanted i want to i wanted to feel like home and i wanted to offer things and i bought it off facebook marketplace used i get it you have 10 000 hours on this card yeah you're paying 120 dollars a month in interest so i don't give a i have money i've been very blessed and i've also worked very hard and paid off debt all that stuff i still have a guest bedroom that hasn't even been built and then one that's only half built okay come on well it were i've survived i've made it people have still stayed with me when they traveled here you'll be okay disney plus that's expensive you went in the bundle so it's like disney hulu uh espn i think you went inside a store got some bs just a cheap little snack or drink they're not registry starbucks starbucks apple we know you look at that we know you love it yeah an apple bill or subscription it's expensive 1944 cavender's boot another apple bill or something 10 bucks them the tavern bowl apple bill or subscription taylor swift shop 75 that's an expensive hobby to get into being on that's recurring reoccurring yeah a subscription to taylor no it's not a subscription she's already a billionaire and you're poor so why don't you take care of yourself but that she's like my favorite so i'm favorite what she doesn't know you exist.
43:20I like to think she does. She doesn't. She enjoys your money. I'm sure she does. It's all spent with fuel from her plane. I like her. I'm sure you do. I buy all the cardigans. I bet you do. You have no money. And then, well, the holiday collection just dropped too, so... No, you're not going to get it. I already did. How much was it? How much was it possibly? Well, okay, but... No, how much was it? What's the question? Probably$200. Oh, for f***s sake, you are losing$120. You said you want to get in a position where you can have a family and kids? No. No, you don't. F*** you. You're married to being stupid with money.
43:59You're married to just getting f***ed in a bad way. But when it's just one little thing. It's not one little. $200 is not a little thing. You don't understand the value of a dollar. No. You don't understand. No, no, no. You legitimately do not understand the value of a dollar. I think I do. You think that's one little thing? If you use that kind of phrase, you do not. You do not. You do not. You don't understand the value of a dollar if you think that is a small little thing. Like the heiress tour is ending soon. Yeah, it's been ending for about five years. No. So I went to the show in Arlington.
44:32I'm sure you did. I'm sure you spent way too much money on it. Oh, for the sake of Swifty in front of me, I'm going to die. And then we are still thinking about going to Vancouver. Well, you're not going to. Can we make that very clear? She's not more important than your future. you say you value wanting to have a spouse and kids so Taylor's more important than them because that's what you're spending is reflecting what are these new tickets going to cost and then travel to Vancouver well I have airline miles you know she releases a new album every two months she does not actually she does like I'm surrounded by Swifties non-consensually and I'm not even anti-Taylor Swift she is the best businesswoman in the world I have airline I love the old catchy stuff but now if you listen to an album and skip a song just play five seconds of the song skip it to the next song feel like you're listening to the same one I hard disagree on that you can disagree about it but it's in the same three keys same time signatures I grew up with her she's just a few years older than me we grew up together you don't exist to her, she doesn't know just your money but I have airline miles but we've been through this if we go We've been through this.
45:47If we're going to go, then we're going to use the airline miles and save money there. And then we're going to just get cheaper tickets. And then you're going to go to her next concert because the tour is going to get extended. Or it's not. And then she's going to start a new five-year tour next year. Dude, she's milked you. She's milked you. She understands you. You have a subscription for$75 to her store. No, it's not. You said it's reoccurring. No, it's because I buy merch. That's not reoccurring. that's you being a reoccurring dumbass. I reoccurly, my purchases reoccur with. They can't even acknowledge a bad song when there's a bad song.
46:24There's a few. And then, well, thank you. You're better than many than I know. There's a few skips. I'll admit that. Wow, I've never even heard that in my life. I feel like an awakening is occurring. They're just not my taste. It's the money, the amount of money that is just being thrown towards it. And again, I don't care. One of my best friends is a Swifty. Love her to death. And she can do whatever the fuck she wants to do because guess what? She's out of debt and she has a good retirement fund and she's set and secure. So I'm like, go do it. Go waste your, go, go. No, not even waste your money.
46:57Go spend your money on listening to the same three songs. Go ahead. I love it. Do it. That's great. Dance to it. Okay, whatever. Yeah, sure. Do it. You, it doesn't make sense. Regardless of who it is. It could be the best artist in the world. Doesn't matter. Does not matter. To be clear, you are saying Taylor Swift is more important than my future. That is what your actions are saying. Do you get that? I mean, I get that my actions say that, but I don't think. What else would be the other? Then what's the alternative? If your actions say it, what is the alternative? I don't see it as like that big of a deal because it's like a one-time little purchase here and there.
47:41and she's like my favorite artist so i have favorite artists too i don't my entire future for them this is again kind of what's weird about swifties to me is you're willing to destroy your life for a human being that you are destroying your life financially speaking fine you don't actually even know because you your car gets any kind of trouble then you might lose your income because you can't get to work because you don't have any ability to borrow money or anything you don't know the consequences of your actions here and you are willing to destroy your life you say what you want in life are those things that you will not be able to achieve because of this no one else does that for any other artist and yet it is millions i mean yeah swifties are we're our own breed we're a little bit crazy you did break up with someone because of their politics and he was also not a swifty well i mean i don't even care about politics and stuff like that but it's just like or like the agreement wasn't even the whole reason but it sounds like you're very kind of like almost like culted a little cult mindset a little bubbled there was other reasons why but yeah like that was like one of the final nails in the coffin again at that point usually we just don't we figure that stuff out on like date number four whether or not we're compatible on just values and stuff and that's okay you guys were friends for so many years and right you're just it seems like with the swifty being able to spend so much money while getting destroyed in debt.
49:07Like literally you spend$75 on here, which is half the minimum payment or a little, no, it's like a third of it. And you're gaining interest on this and you're willing to go see a Gannon concert and all this craziness. And then breaking up with someone after forever for a boat. And it's just like, I don't know. You seem very bubbled, but that's part. I mean, that's part of the reason I want to go to Vancouver and see her again is because like, I'm going through this breakup and it's... Going through this breakup, it's done. Well, we still have to live together. I still have to see him and I still have to go.
49:42But are you guys getting along? It's touch and go. Oh, for fuck's sake. Then stop touching and going because that's going to elongate those feelings. Well, now no, I mean... Even though I do that with every breakup, I always do a touch and go. I mean, we just have to cohabitate peacefully. Oh, I love that little cohabitate. I'm in the guest room. I'm in the other side of the house and he's in one side of the house and they always those rooms unite happens there every time no it does not but now you're right Swift would probably not approve wish that was a joke Texas Roadhouse Apple Bill Ice House Villa Nails and Spa $70 you just let's see let's see you have pink normal nails i'm like what are we doing what are we doing doing at home that's what my swifty friend does she figures out ways so she can save up for the next ticket she does her nails at home i snooze kohl's chick-fil-a target it's a little unknown sometimes for that top golf that's usually expensive no that was just a little fee that was that was a company trip apple bill great Yeah, I'm glad you spent money there.
50:59Apple bill. Again, Target. What kind of subscriptions do you have? I do Peacock. And I have like Hulu, Disney Plus, that kind of stuff. A couple other. I pay for the subscriptions in our relationship. So like all the streaming stuff, that's one of my bills. So I pay like half the rent. And then I pay water. And I buy groceries. and all the subscriptions and then he takes care of... But you guys gotta stop. You have to... It's time to... You need to be able to separate and be able to sacrifice. This is a weird thing you guys got going on. Because if you can't sacrifice in your life, your bills, some things that you actually have control over, it's not a utility.
51:45Yeah, but it's like what we agreed that I would take... I know, and it's... You might just need to have another re-agreement. If he wants a subscription, he can pay for it. I'm moving out soon, so I could cancel them all. What is this? $300. Remedy meds? What is that? Like a spa? No. $300. It's online Ozempic. Okay. So I started taking - Why aren't you seeing something to the doctor and using health insurance? I don't have health insurance. You don't have - Why don't you have health insurance? You have a job. My job doesn't offer it. It doesn't - Well, how big's your company? They're too small.
52:24I'm only one of 21 employees. It's too small. That makes sense. So they're not required. We looked at doing benefits and we're doing a 401k stuff. I'm just going to say this. I thought it would be one of the first things I would ever do as a business owner is implement it. And then I looked at the price of what it would do. It would be our entire annual payroll in a one-month basis is what it would cost to set up insurance. So I do kind of get that small buzz. It can be very hard to afford it as a small business side. That's why they have that like 100 person rule or something. Yeah. Either way.
52:57Why don't you? Because you could get you could get just at least something for like 300 bucks a month. Bare minimum. Just so that you don't get. Why allow yourself to. I thought that. Why allow yourself to get like a few hundred thousand dollar bill of something major would happen? I thought that like for the exchange, you could only get it if you like were low income. You could go and get the basic bare minimum that covers only really crazy things. okay you still gotta pay pretty out of pocket isn't that like 600 dollars a month i don't think so i mean i pay like five and i'm pretty mid i'm mine i thought it was like really really i don't know go look but i'm it's again this is you i think i thought find out google you're now you're literally because you're unwilling to google allowing yourself to potentially die and not get preventative care.
53:50And now you are spending a health insurance payment on Ozempic. And I don't care. Fuck, take it. I should probably take it too. I'm afraid of needles. So if you guys see me get skinny, it's all natural, baby. But I don't care. You probably should for health. Sure, do it. I don't care. But I feel like you could be doing this in a more price-effective way. We even have like a sponsor. It's probably not a sponsor for this video. I think we've only done it one time. but they like help you get connected with low cost versions. Like there's so many options. If you just Google, Google, Google, the literal definition of your life, unable to look something up.
54:27You just decide I'm going to fit. I, I feel like I was a pressured into the Olympic a little bit pressured. Like, you know how, when you like get into a doctor, no, not by doctor, you know, like you get into a relationship and you start getting, that like love weight you're not in a relationship and well i was yeah but you just paid for this i yeah and it was it's a it's a monthly charge of three hundred dollars so i'm on the like i this was like month three so we how much weight have you lost uh so far i've lost like 10 pounds which is pretty normal it's a slow start isn't your appetite supposed to be like broken or something yes why are you drinking calories because they're good i need something to drink but like i feel like we have free drinks uh okay okay okay you're pressured though i just like we we both kind of gained weight in the beginning of the relationship you get all like happy and you go on dates and stuff like that and you eat out more so fast and then you you know then you want to lose the weight and you like it was I got so many ads for it on every YouTube and there was comments and so I wanted to from him yes okay because seeing ads is not being pressured you're an adult with ability to advocate for yourself okay what was this pressure like with you guys it just you know one damn card you want to like you want to look good and you want to do the thing sure you said you're pressured from him and then you keep saying things that aren't from him it it was a little bit it was just comments comments people make yes people make you said he pressured you to get ozempic like he would be pressuring you to get ozempic he wasn't like outwardly impressed so you weren't pressured to get ozempic you probably felt bad from a couple dickish things that he said that he probably shouldn't have said but he didn't pressure you to get ozempic i'm not gonna allow yourself to victimize yourself.
56:26No, I mean, yeah, it was like it was like snide comments and it affected me. So that makes sense. If you said that I would have been totally on your side. But you said he pressured you into a three hundred dollar a month payment. And that is not correct. No, I would have been on your side if you said exactly that. But again, you tried to manipulate it in a way to make yourself look good and get out of being called out on that three hundred dollar payment this is what you keep doing you keep looking for a way out of being confronted with something for f*** sake you got 203 dollars of fees this year so far meaning you've been late like six times or something so there's an annual fee what's the annual fee 95 okay well guess what it's 203 and then i did a balance transfer why because i did used to have a card but you haven't changed behavior what it was like at a 30 something percent interest so i balance transferred it to this card at zero so there was a there was that like three percent fee that they that they make you um pay for the balance transfer it's in a couple months and guess what you've uh made no progress so congratulations we're just going to be back in the same boat again because we didn't change any behavior when we balance transferred because what is the point of doing a little shortcut if you don't actually what is the point of dieting what is the point of going on ozempic if when you're off of it you're just gonna go right back up by not changing your behavior i think i have made some progress on it though probably minimum monthlies but you spend on the card i yeah but i but i am making progress and i you're bragging about this the money in your checking account and we talked about well that's gonna have to go to the apartment anyway so it's It's like you actually even have savings.
58:08It's my savings. It's like I use it like savings, but it's not. It's like I have set it aside. It's your point of apartment. Yeah, I have it set aside for moving expenses. And then I want to get a new car. What is want to get a new car? I have to be careful with your words because your words have been crazy so far. What you say and what you mean are disconnected beyond in this conversation so far. I want to get a new car. Yeah, my car is getting pretty old. I want it in my suitcase. I don't know what that is Keep going My car is getting pretty old And it's got about 110 ,000 miles on it And it's a Chrysler So I want to get a new car Before this one completely craps out So I can still get a decent trade-in value for it Well, I mean, your trade-in value Is going to be kind of reflected on If that car is going to survive or not Right, so I want to trade it sooner Rather than later Okay.
59:05Do you owe on your current car? No, I don't owe anything. What is it? It's worth about$7 ,000 we have a value. It's a Chrysler 200. A year again? 2016. Miles says 100. 110. I think this should be able to go for a bit. A Chrysler? Well, how is it? Are you doing maintenance well on it? What has anyone said? I do the basic like oil changes and stuff like that, But I haven't had a transmission service or anything like extensive. Why aren't you fully taking care of the car in terms of just going and just getting like a, at least a couple year check up on everything just to make sure you're not having to pump money into it.
59:44Well, how are you going to get this other car? If this apartment is going to be like a month or two and then a down payment and then you're probably going to need furniture. So it's like a home. So like, well, I have all the furniture now. What car are you going to need? So as many of you know, I've been a big supporter of Course Careers for a long time. I'm not just a partner, I actually own stock and I'm an investor. So why did I partner with Course Careers? Because I truly believe in what they're doing. A lot of people have questions about online certifications versus traditional college degrees.
1:00:16Let me be clear, I wouldn't put my name behind something unless I knew it worked. The thing is, not everyone has the time or resources to spend four years in college or take on massive student loan debt. Course Careers offers a practical, affordable way to launch a career in a high-demand field like tech sales, IT, and accounting, where companies are hiring based on the skills needed, not broad college degrees. In fact, right now, one in three companies are dropping degree requirements, and that number is only going to continue to grow. I know some people think online programs are a quick fix, but that's not the case here.
1:00:48Course Careers takes effort and commitment, but they provide you with a streamlined, proven path. They offer up-to-date, self-paced courses, one-on-one or group coaching from people that work in the industry, and most importantly, they help you actually get hired. Just look at graduates like Nemeso, who went from driving FedEx trucks to a cybersecurity job at Disney. That didn't happen by chance. He put in the work, and course careers guided him every step of the way. And what truly sets course careers apart is that it's not just about learning skills, it's about landing a job. Their curriculum is designed based on what employers actually need, and their network of industry coaches will guide you through the entire process from learning the skills to interviewing, resume help, and beyond.
1:01:30So if you're serious about starting a new career without wasting years or piling up debt, give Course Careers a try. Start with their free intro course linked in the description to explore your options. And when you're ready, use the link in the description for$50 off the full course. Your future starts right now and Course Careers is here to help you shape it. I thought... Or how are you going to get it, I meant. Okay, so I thought that my top of my budget would be maybe like$33 ,000 for a car. The f*** are you talking about? So you're going to go further into debt? Okay, good job going through financial peace.
1:02:03You really listened. But then I would have my... I don't even want to give her our classes for f*** sake. I think you'll just get worse because you'll hear the best f***ing education that you can hear. Then you're going to do the opposite. But then I would have my trade-in. Of$7 ,000. You're talking over$30 ,000. And then I would do my down payment of the tax title and license at least. With what? Because guess what? The money in here is going to the damn apartment, which might be first and last month and security deposit. Plus application fees. Plus some furniture because you're not getting all of it.
1:02:38I will get all the furniture. Confidently? Yeah, I paid for it. So I'll take it when I move. He didn't get any of it? No. Okay, good. Does he agree with this? Yes. Good. Yeah, we've already kind of divided everything in the house. He gets the riding lawnmower and I get everything else. What a man. But I'll have the trade-in value and I'll put the tax title and license down. So then I won't have to finance as much. Like it'll be, I'm trying to. You're going to have to finance like$25 ,000. What are you talking about? Like I don't know where this money is coming from that you're talking about. Well, I have a job.
1:03:17so I'm yeah so I bring saving up$25 ,000 in a month even though you have a credit card that you can't pay off because you refuse to because you spend more money on it no interest is accruing and you only put the minimum payment towards a little more it'll be for like sometime in in 2025 like the beginning like in the first three months oh wonderful okay so four months from now yeah yeah you've made no progress on this credit card but we're coming up with$25 ,000 to be able to buy this car in cash? No, I was going to finance some of it. What's some of it to you? Maybe like$20 ,000 of it financed.
1:03:53Oh, guys, we say$5 ,000. We can retire. You're adding$20 ,000 to your debt pile. And the rate's not going to be great. We're not in some super low rate environment. How am I going to get a car that's reliable? I'm potentially suggesting that you might not need to. before you do get a detailed thorough review of this by a mechanic your car see if you can ride this thing out for a few more years unless it's completely in condition i don't see why now you just got over 100 000 miles all of a sudden this thing's that's not how every car works i just thought because it's a chrysler and it's like i don't know go ahead and get it checked dude yeah i mean i you're getting a whole ass new car 20 000 hour loan it's gonna be more like 30 let's be honest because we know your finances maybe all because a car has just ticked up i thought it was important to trade it in while it's still running and up and working well i wouldn't necessarily be against this but you're talking about getting a 35 000 hour car i how are you how are you not comprehending that i'm sorry i'm aggressively mind blown at how you are not comprehending i thought that was just like the i mean isn't that how much a new car about costs why do you need a new car.
1:05:05You could get a used car. Yeah, I can. I just haven't I haven't really looked that much yet. I just know it's on the horizon. I'm trying to keep it on the horizon. Like it's on the horizon. Hopefully this conversation's on the horizon. That's my 401k. $537. Chrysler 300 drivers reported their vehicles operating reliably for well over 200 ,000 hour miles when well maintained, which is your responsibility. Some some even report Chrysler 300s It's a 200. I doubt that's also going to cut the lifespan in half. $500 in our retirement but guys we're getting a$30 ,000 car don't you know. How you have survived you know what's awesome about this show?
1:05:52This is really cool. What? And I know I've just been like aggressive but you know what's just awesome is just like I did not realize before the show how How crazy everyone is with their money and just delusion around their spending and understanding about finances and tell the show. Even though, let's pretend people weren't even getting help around the show. Let's pretend people weren't even getting help that are watching the show. Like literally over 10 ,000 people we know, maybe 20 ,000 have changed their lives because of watching the show, gone out of debt, all that good stuff. Let's pretend none of that even happened.
1:06:27this show could go down in a history book finally demonstrating the average american consumer on how dumb they are i've had some people ask like can you get a normal person on the show what do you think a normal person is in the united states of america welcome everyone has a car loan knowledge this is consumerism to its core that's what we're kind of told though i mean you have to put you have to get a credit card because yourself no i can it's just when that's all you're told is you have to get a credit card to build your credit you have to have a car note to build your credit you have to you know get a new car get a 10 000 hour balance on a credit card no they did not say that they did not i advocate for the get a credit card in a healthy and safe way i talk about the fizz card debit card that builds credit love it that's great i yeah and i just think it got out of control a little bit through your behavior through consumerism yeah you being an average american here we go So Amazon Chase Card.
1:07:25Wow, did I just make it to another document? Who would have thought we would make it here? This conversation is derailed in so many different ways. Are you having a pleasant time at least? Yes, I feel helpful. You feel helpful? No, I feel like this is helpful. I hope so. It's usually everyone's big wake-up call. Yeah, it's interesting. Even if I'm dying a little, but I think we're all able to reflect in the end. Okay, so$1 ,202.55 on here.
1:08:03And you purchase basically exactly how much you put towards it. So$36 minimum payment. Why not just have your balance go lower instead of purchasing almost identical of what you put on it towards the payments? I don't get it. Why not get closer to debt-free? I made bad choices and put... That's not an excuse. I. Sorry. Sorry. Go ahead. I. It's been really difficult mentally. And I. Going through this breakup and losing the house. And everything like going on in life. And I. Everything going on in life? Yeah. I tend to just want to spend some money. And I kind of go into my hobbies a little bit.
1:08:43So I've been buying a little bit of more stuff for my hobby. What are you kidding? What's your hyper fixation hobby of the. Legos. Legos? Legos. How much are you buying in Legos? Are all these Amazon orders Legos? Not all of those ones are. What the f*** are you talking about? I've bought more Legos since that. How much did you spend on Legos? I spent like$400. A month? Not on average. Just in the past month. I've probably spent$400 on Legos. Isn't it just like one set anyway? No, I buy a lot of the little sets They are expensive, but I'll look on Amazon Because a lot of times Amazon does deals This is all Amazon spending and Prime Video You got a couple rentals and stuff in there $61 of interest this year so far Let me see that Amazon account I'm also getting ready for Christmas too So I'm buying What?
1:09:39You have debt Merry Christmas, I'm getting out of debt What are you talking about? You can just scroll Oh, we have a fairy set coming and a Christmas town set coming. We got a shirt or pants or bag. Yeah, I returned a bunch of those. Oh, well, you turned one. Got a bra. Probably never had any of those before. Guys, we got a giraffe. You need new ones. Shirt, shirt, shirt. What is this? Oh, a calendar? You really needed a calendar? You have a phone right here. It's an advent calendar. I don't know what that means, but you have a phone. You can probably import whatever advent is. What's advent? It's advent calendars.
1:10:16It's like where you open one of the little boxes every day. Oh, good death. It's for my niece. You have debt. Socks. Mobile coffee cups? Dude, just have a tumbler. A lot of that stuff was for Universal. So, like, the coffee cups in the hotel rooms are really small. You're spending stupid. You're spending stupid. You don't understand the value of a dollar. We've already determined that. Your spending is ridiculous. Student loans, 5.2%. It's not the rate I would like. I do have those on auto pay, So I get.25 % off. Is it only this? The$2 ,259? That's the last one. The last one? I had two others.
1:10:56What happened? Why are you prioritizing those over a$10 ,000 30 % credit card? Those were, the other ones were unsubsidized maybe? Yeah, but they weren't competing with the credit card in terms of interest, right? Oh, I just. Your priorities are weird. I paid off the ones that were getting interest while I was in school. I get that but you have a credit card Yeah Your priorities are wet Go through our debt class please That one is my last one and it's the one that Are you aggressively paying this off? I put$100 a month to it What's the minimum monthly? Oh like 52 Why would you put$100 towards this when you have This interest is a 5 % You have a credit card that's over 20 % Yeah that's not against That's against Dave Ramsey's thing No No, no, no, that's not even that's not even financial.
1:11:48Nope. Because that Dave Ramsey actually would have you pay this off quicker. That's stupid. Simply put, because I'm 20 percent like, yes, but it's like beyond lower. You know, if it was in the same world, that's different. But this it also federal student loans have a lot more protections if things were to get wrong. I want you to get rid of this scary debt that does not have those kind of protections. but i have confidence too that i can do it right and stick to it my question would be what confidence i have no confidence looking at this why do you have confidence your debt has done nothing but go up in these statements your spending is out of control you do stupid things like the taylor swift crap which is endlessly monthly for you and stupid multi-thousand dollar uh vacations because you felt like you owed them immediately like you didn't have a lifetime to do that so what confidence because i honestly don't have it and i would love you to convince me that there is so that i can have some kind of redemption in this story but right now nothing in here suggests any kind of confidence i want i want the the life i want the the happiness and the spouse the kids but more than taylor more than universal i mean it's gonna sound stupid to say yes because I might.
1:13:08No it doesn't sound stupid. That sounds reasonable. I don't believe you. My actions have said differently but I want to make the change. Like I want to do it. I think I can do it. Just I I want to. I want to. You're going to need something more than that. Because you can want multiple things but you still prioritize different things. And so far you're prioritizing. I promise to do the debt class. That means nothing to me. And the budgeting class. We've all had promises. Okay. We can follow up again in three, six months. We will on the follow-up channel. I mean, you better believe it. And I better not be disappointed.
1:13:45But gosh, I would have a little bit of semblance of hope. If in the statements there was a sign of progress. Because what I feel a lot of people do, because they get put in the hot seat, and I know you are on here actually to change things. but a lot of people that get put on the hot seat and then i will change i will change i will change because you don't want to look bad and no no no wonder and you don't want to look like you're walking away with this with nothing i get it but the fact is if you actually are fully committed to wanting to change that must have literally just happened today not yesterday because your statements are not reflecting an inkling of change if there was one thing in here that suggested potential change just one i would have more hope but there is not one thing so it's very hard for me to believe i go in phases so that's even worse though because that's been yo-yoing you can't yo-yo your finances yeah you can't yo-yo your finances though or else you're gonna end up right back here forever right i want to like the consistency thing is what i need to work on i need like i need to work on just staying consistent do you make a budget no there's fucking point number one for consistency if you know where your money is going where it went what you need to do to fix it in order to hit the goals you want to get that keeps you consistent if you don't do the basic minimum requirement you're never going to be consistent yeah and i and i will make the budget and that's that yes but will you manage it on a monthly basis it's not a make one time thing i want to A budget for...
1:15:25I want... All right, we have money in our checking account. We're zelling out some money. Okay. That's rent. I zelle rent. Can you zelle me some happiness right now? Please. Thank you. Didn't work. Sorry. I tried. What hits your account on a monthly basis income? A 4 ,400? I had 55. Guaranteed. And then I get my commissions on top of that. I'm going to do 5 ,000. Cool? That seems reasonable. If more happens, we know where to put it. Towards debt. We've already been through this. Uh-huh. Okay. I promise. Your rent. For now. How much? $1 ,100. It'll probably get yourself another$1 ,100 place. Yeah.
1:16:13Cheaper if you can. I know it's not a cheap city, but you could do that. What about utilities? right now I pay for water and streaming and that's about streaming your utility payments are going to be about 250 okay and including internet everything that's where you're gonna be gas room from drive drive$40 a week so 160 160 car insurance that is 203 for car insurance renter's insurance and valuable personal property it's all bundled together okay you're getting like $400 health insurance. Bottom of the barrel, just to start with, literally covering the most crazy thing. Like if you were to be in an emergency.
1:16:58Like an ER visit, broken leg. Yes, like just the worst of the worst. TP fund,$100, anything else to survive. Necessary food,$300. We have a meal plan that you can follow in the budgeting program. You can tweak it to your needs. What about your phone bill? $70. $70. I pay my mom. okay that's not okay do you have any pets I do not good nor should you that'd be irresponsible okay your minimum monthly debts let's get this credit card's stupid 311 gym no you have a home gym we have a home gym subscriptions are canceled if I move into an apartment subscriptions are canceled anything else anything medical other than what you already have The Ozempic.
1:17:52That's$300. And I kind of like it. I feel progress. I'm not opposed to it. I feel like once you get health insurance, I go see a doc and I get it prescribed and see. Well, I mean, no, you got an island prescription. It's still$300. And your health insurance, with the health insurance you're likely going to get, it's not going to make it much cheaper. Okay. I'll put$300 in there. let's just see how it all adds up okay these conversations right here this is where it pisses me off even more even with that dude you have an extra $1 ,800 left on a monthly basis this is literally your choice right now your choice you are making this choice you can get out of debt so easily compared to so many people that are coming on the show they have to sacrifice and go so hard and you're choosing not to because you're being a child because I didn't think about it.
1:18:51This is so easy, dude. Are you kidding me? Credit card number one, Chase, destroyed in a month. Bank of America, destroyed in five months, if even. Student loans, minimum monthly payment until they're paid off because we're going to focus on different things. So six months, You're bad debt free. And then you're going to save up what is likely, I'm going to call it about$15 ,000 emergency fund. We can probably do that in at that point with the minimum payment and everything that's left. Do that in about seven months. So we're talking a year and one month. You have a fully funded emergency fund.
1:19:32No bad debt. 32, starting your life. Great. You're going to start contributing 20 % to retirement. You can live on 50 % of your income, and you can still spend 30 % on fun. And that savings, you know, take 10 % for fun, start putting a car thing aside. Your car should be able to last another year. Go ahead and do maintenance on it. Put that in the TP fund. I'm sorry. This is a joke. You have the ability to do this so much easier than almost the vast majority that come on this show. You've just chosen not to. and that's going to make it hard to have sympathy because you are just beyond choosing this.
1:20:11None of this is being forced upon you. You have such an easy thing. Easy thing to get out of this. Spending at a budget, technically you're under your budget. It should have gone towards the debt. Your debt only went up, but I can't give you any better than a 2 out of 10. Your debt, the credit card debt is stupid for your situation in terms of the entire total amount of debt. We're talking about a 3 out of 10 there. emergency fund. No, you don't have an emergency fund. You have some set aside that is going to go to your apartment. It's all on your checking accounts altogether. This is not doing very well.
1:20:41I'm going to give you a three out of 10 there as well. Retirement, just getting started. One out of 10 real estate, not a part of the conversation, zero out of 10. And the crazy thing is, again, this isn't even a bad score. This is just your choice that you're in. I mean, it's a bad score. It's not going to be a four out of 10. It's going to be a two out of 10, but that's even better than a lot of people that come on the show you're choosing this and that upsets me more than people that are in a situation that they that they can't control by a lot this upsets me we have other stuff we're going to talk about in the post show and we have over we have something like 10 000 hours of extra content in our youtube membership please consider joining that join hammer elite for the best value of your dollar help support this channel now join us in the post show where things the drama and extra tea and things we can't talk about and all that stuff is revealed see you there You said you know more about their weirdness of their relationship.
1:21:35They all got in a fight last week and you threw a fork at him. You threw a fork at your f***ing ex. I didn't. I threw it past him. Which could have hit him. That could have punctured a skin, eye, anything. I was more careful than that. For what? What'd you argue about? So we got in a fight because. Should I call him and get his perspective?
