Why are you guys always breaking up? Finances might have been a part. Is that true? We both cheated on each other. Who the f*** cheated first? Or was this a... And then you revenge cheated. Yeah, um... People were having s***s with two people at one time without commitment to either one. Download my new Simpler Budget app today and take control of your money once and for all. Hi, my name's Kara. I'm 30 years old. And I'm Brian. I'm 32 years old. We're from Detroit, Michigan.
0:35And this is Financial Audit. Oh, I am glad I escaped my homeland, Michigan, to not be suffering every single day in gray and sadness and depression. Okay. Well, welcome down. It's not like it's very happy today anyway. So whatever. Warmer here than it is. Yeah, we'll take it. What do you guys do for a living up in sad zone? I do corporate safety for a construction company. Okay, what is it? Are you going around punching bitches that walk up? Or is it cyber security? No, I'm the asshole that yells at people for not being safe. Oh, interesting. What are you making with that? $60 ,000. Not bad. Detroit's not expensive at all.
1:18You can buy a mega mansion for a penny. What about you? I actually just got licensed for vet tech. Ooh, okay. And that is some hard work. Vet tech doesn't always make the most. What are you going to be making? Or what do you make now? You just got licensed? Do you not make anything now? Are you not working? No. So I actually started working again. I was a stay-at-home mom during school and stuff. Uh-oh. Children. Ages. She's 10. Just one? Okay. But so I just got licensed in December because I just passed my test. Congratulations. Which I get a raise. So I just got it up to$20, which is not a lot.
1:55Well, from Detroit where everything. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But still, lifestyle wise and debt wise, it's not the greatest. So I actually am asking for a raise when I get back. Very under. You just got a raise and you're asking. Well, then I could be like just a little weird or they're going to think you don't have the best intentions. It's very nervous. You're leaving. OK. Like very like we have five employees and one of them is like the hospital manager. Yeah. They're. How's the revenue for them? They're great. They're doing great. OK. So what are you going to be asking for a raise to or just I please have raise.
2:28No. No. 23 I'll Take 22 If I have to but you have to do you think they'll give it You said you just got a raise It was part of like when I sign Like when I got hired their Rules once you get licensed you can get 20 Okay what were you making before 18 okay So What do you bring home net now A month about 2200 And you Like 3200 a month all right so in the detroit area not necessarily bad again it's just just a little further there compared to most big cities i know the uh there's kind of that one nice area in the downtown area and like the where the stadiums and stuff are it can be a little more expensive there or if you're in the deep burbs it can be expensive again yeah we're not in any of those nice okay you're in the $64 ,000 a month.
3:24Net$6 ,400. Sorry. $64 ,000. How are we feeling? I feel okay. And actually, that's a little bit of a low ball. I coach soccer as well. So it's a little bit more. How much do you make coaching soccer? Not a lot. I coach both high school, boys and girls. And I coach youth travel. Okay. What's extra a month? I mean, I assume that's seasonal. Like about$1 ,000, maybe$1 ,200 a month. It's not seasonal. It's year-round. Really? Yeah. Extra thousand a month? Yeah. Net? Yeah. So 7 ,400. What's going on here today, guys? What are we looking at? I think it was more or less when care wasn't working. It got a little bit out of hand.
4:11Which was for how long again? Because you said stay-at-home mom. That usually means quite about a while. So we've been together for 13 years. so it has been a roller coaster for the first portion. How long were you not working? I'd say about a year, year and a half. But I was... When? A year and a year and a half when? A year ago. Why did you end up becoming a stay-at-home mom when she was already in grade school? I'm a little confused. Why did we start a stay-at-home mom at nine? It's usually just... I mean, you guys can if you want to. I don't give a fuck. But that's not usually traditional age of the kid when stay-at-home mom and starts.
4:50It wasn't my choice. Actually, it is something that we agreed upon. Did you agree? You did. Reluctantly, yes. It was agreed upon because I wanted to focus on school, and actually it might have been closer to COVID. So you weren't a stay-at-home mom. You were schooling. You were being a student. Yeah, but I still was at home during COVID for part of it. Did you not want her to do that? I mean, I'm lazy. COVID was a year ago. I know. I mean, like, that's when it kind of started. So I stayed home for COVID for her and for me because I had to. So it's been four years then because COVID was 2020. So you are unemployed for four years?
5:32She went back to work about a year, a year and a half ago. I don't know, man. This timeline is so confusing. We need to know. I'm just trying to establish your lore so I can just understand what's happening here. but also how are you how when were you out of work and for how long i actually i think she was out of work 2020 to 2022 yeah that sounds about good that lines up more with the pandemic okay so you're saying this problem stems from that i mean i know you guys were getting uh i mean you guys got i mean you stimmed it up a little you got some stimmy you also town tax credit helps a little but detroit also just being cheaper and you don't have a insignificant income no i mean where we live now the taxes are pretty high but i what taxes are you talking about taxes in texas are higher if it's just the property tax and sales taxes alone sales tax in michigan are six percent not sales tax property tax we live in a city that had a huge water issue um maybe 10 years ago and And it's still being paid by taxpayers.
6:40But, I mean, that doesn't really equate to where we're at. And our stimulus went away pretty quickly. Well, yeah, I know. But, again, you were unemployed during the time when that happened. You know, you were staying at home during that time. We used it to buy a house and to buy furniture. Not to sustain yourself? You put it to buy a house? How expensive is your house? Because, again, in the Detroit area, it's a little cheaper. No, our house wasn't expensive. We paid$185 for it. How is it? That's nice. it's a tri-level 1600 square feet like I said the taxes being higher it doesn't doesn't make sense to where we're at financially and I think what do you mean even if the property tax rate is higher which I'm by the way looking for at a house under $250 ,000 what are you talking about like how much is being sucked away from you like I don't know what you mean didn't it go up since we last bought it well our homeowner's insurance has gone up but taxes go up How much this can't be?
7:38This can't be what's making or breaking. Our homeowner's insurance is insane. It's$3 ,600 a year. So within the last year, we had a flood claim in our basement, and it was a relatively small claim, but it made our homeowner's insurance go from$1 ,600 a year to$3 ,600 a year. Okay, so$3 ,600. Trust me, that's not insignificant money, but we're talking$300 a month total. that wouldn't be make or break for someone in your guys' position. I really don't get it. And then the property tax rate, again, even if the rate is high, which I don't know yet because all the search engines are down right now.
8:18What's your property tax bill? How about that? Like$4 ,000 a year. Okay, so it's... Which sucks. Right, but I mean... $600 a month, an extra$600 a month. It doesn't add up. yeah well it just that is money it is not insignificant money i am just thinking for your income scale where you are in a lower cost of living area and it's not like it's cheap for everyone i get it but you're in a relatively decent position how would that be the make or break for our life i feel like that is not the actual answer to your question i think it is the answer to the question that you guys have been cope telling yourself so what the is actually going on?
8:58So there was a while where I would just like ask him for money for stuff. Obviously, being the stay at home mom, I was the taxi driver. And he likes to keep me from getting stressed. So he would say, as long as our savings isn't under, I don't know, like 10 ,000, we're fine. And once we get to that point, I'll let you know when we have to worry or start cutting back. So I would ask for money and most of the time I got it and also I have years of debt from when we would not be together and I had to scrounge up money for myself so most of that debt is mine scrounge up why aren't we we have broken up in the past and during that time during the marriage well we're not married yeah we're not legally you're not married we're not legally married but we wear rings and we like how long have you guys been together 13 years why the f*** are you not married we just haven't had a wedding why but you can courthouse and you can get tax bennies what are we doing?
9:55I don't know we were working on ourself we go to therapy and stuff aren't you guys a couple you have a kid together no like ourselves together perfect so get married I don't know what you're talking about like why are we not married? Just because we haven't had the formality of doing so it's a courthouse we just don't care that much about like the paper part I guess is everything what about the legality? I don't know on my side I don't know much about How many times did you guys break up? Twice. When? Once, like three years ago, and the other time... Like seven. Yeah. When the kid was seven, yeah.
10:30And once when our daughter was very young. Like one. Why are you guys always breaking up? I don't know, because we're stupid. We were young and dumb. No, why are you guys breaking up? Finances might have been a part for some of it, and then... Is that true? Yeah, that's part of it, yeah. Okay, who's, why, when, what, where? Because, yeah, that's a leading cause for divorce. not that you guys can get divorced but in this country but if we're not married you're right by the way detroit like leads with property taxes you're 100 right but of course the median property value in detroit is substantially under right so it offsets a little but i understand it definitely hurts seeing that percentage being added because the percentage is high either way 300 a month does not make a break for your life i i think i think that's true i think it's a bit of a kind of excuse A coping skill where we like to hide our financial insecurities.
11:19Tell me about these breakups that constantly happen. Because if we're navigating this situation, we're trying to get you to a place where you guys are going to be together forever and hit these goals. I need to know a little bit of this backstory. I don't know if you guys need to start from the beginning or what the fuck. Tell me what the fuck is going on. We had our kid really young. We made stupid mistakes. What mistakes? It's like we didn't commit very well in the beginning. You guys haven't committed once. You're not married. The first time we broke up, we both cheated on each other. The second time, it was more financial based.
11:50You're cheaters. Were. Were. Or you did. We did. We have been a cheater. Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. Whether or not you're alcoholicking right now via drinking. I guess. So who the fuck cheated first? Or was this a... Her. Why? What are you doing? He told me I couldn't do something. And I... not the cheating part. It was. Yeah. You usually can't do that in a relationship. I know. But so we had had our kid and I felt like I was doing a lot of the work. I was young. I was just turned 20. So he wouldn't let me do anything. I felt like. Yes. Why would you let me do anything? What are you?
12:29It wasn't like I was. It wasn't like that. No, it was like she wanted to do things that were irresponsible. What? Like constantly go out with her friends and drink every, you know, three, four days. Well, that's a little hard when we're trying to raise a child. True. But then there was a time where he would want to hang out with his friends at the house. And he said, if you leave, then we're breaking up. And I said, fine. So I left and closed the door. Okay. We were 20 and 22. Yeah, but you had a kid. We shouldn't have. Was an oopsie. Yeah. Well, hopefully she doesn't watch this. Oh, well, no.
13:02She knows that birth control is very important, even though it doesn't work. She knows that at 10? We talk about it. Ken knows that birth control does not work. I mean, you should use it, but the man has to do his part, and we did not do that part. Our child is very mature. She is.
13:21Because she sees so many drive-by shootings in Detroit? I mean, maybe. No, she had to grow up quick? Nope, because we're open with her, and we're honest about how the world is working. I don't want to raise her kid for her when she's a teenager, if that happens, so just prepping her. okay so he confined you to the house kind of but also kind of correctly also didn't want you to go raging every single night yeah with a kid at home that's not unfair but okay so you went and sucked some oh no no no i don't do that you know what cheating is i mean i i i it wasn't that bad but it wasn't good. It was just like I made out with someone.
14:08Oh, but we were we had a kid. So like, I mean, that's still bad. No, that's not what I'm like picturing, you know? Yeah. OK. Let's get back to the episode. Wait, you had a kid? Not with that person. Absolutely not. Oh my God, no. And then you revenge cheated. Yeah. And what does that look like? It looked like... We're getting a little lore dump right now, but it is good to know where they came from. We were in the process of getting back together secretly, but I was seeing somebody else at the time. How long were you seeing them? Like two weeks. Okay.
16:00And that was it. Was it cheating if you guys weren't together? I mean, he was... We were on a break. Oh my God. So you guys weren't dating? I mean, we were together and he was... We were getting back together. We had talked about getting back together and I was still in denial. People were having two people at one time without commitment to either one. Wait, what? Who are you talking about? Me. Not you. Not me. People. You said people. He was with that other person and they would have and then he was also with me for a very short time and also had...
16:37You guys seem a little toxic. We were young. It was a long time ago. We're young, but the decisions of the actions that you guys that are doing now, the consequences of them are laying in front of me. And that doesn't seem like that we are young anymore because we're in our 30s. You're in a place where immaturity is a little less acceptable in certain instances. You still have fun. doesn't mean you destroy your life and right now i don't think that we were young is really applying because your entire situation is then you're blaming something on a 300 a month payment in a low cost of living area relatively for your income especially i think that immaturity may have just shifted to something different so then you broke up again just a couple years ago now why and for how long and what and who did we suck this time no happened there was no on either part no we we were very cordial um i actually paid for her apartment and it lasted about six months and we had to break the lease and why'd you guys guys get why'd you guys break up because i was sick of the financial burden really okay there we go leading cause for divorce in the country one of them okay so three years ago three years ago we broke up parents of a kid that we had together we broke up yeah yes for finances yet we were on this show three years later and the finances are if they've ever been before like just about as bad as it gets i think that how did we get back together and stay together and have this conversation now and why has nothing changed if we broke up three years ago during due to finances?
18:22We're trying to change it now. Sure. But why nothing changed if we literally broke up three years ago due to finances? Yet we are talking about the finances today. We still don't like he knows my finances for the most part. I know nothing about anything for him. I don't know anything about the house, cars. But he broke up with you because of your finances. Well, yeah, I have debt like a lot. But why has nothing changed? if the reason we broke up three years ago was because of finances. So why has nothing changed in three years? Because I can't afford to pay it off as quickly as I like, and it's weird asking him for extra money to pay off bills.
18:58We are starting to. They're asking money. I mean, you guys aren't legally married, but you guys are so individualistic about this. You guys are not a community. Your house is not a house. You guys are not a family. You might unite on taking care of the child, but I think it stops there. asking your husband for money shouldn't be the thing you guys should be tackling your financial problems together and trying to achieve the goals that you both have together yeah my fear is that if we put our money together it would just be gone because of of care spending habits but it's not bad lately and i think that it's not just me i he just sees what i purchase i don't see what he purchases so i feel like it's different because i know he goes out to eat way more than i do and stuff but when i buy stuff he sees it true yeah i'm on the road a lot for work okay i do so is it all her fault then you this is lots of like her her her her coming from you i think a lot of the irresponsible spending is her fault she just said and you admitted to going out a lot but then you freak out when she does how does this look guys what is the relationship with money now.
20:10We got your little backstory. It's better than it has been. It's not great. It's better than it has been. Yeah, this is in front of me. Yes. Yes. I'm just trying to prevent you guys from breaking up again. Thank you. Yeah, I think we're good this time. Yeah, I think I for now. Well, we go to couples therapy to do. Yes. To start. That's good. Yeah. And there's no insurance. So we do. I mean, it is a commitment because it's a good chunk of money that we're spending. You don't have insurance or you just went to someone that doesn't accept it. Yeah, he doesn't accept it. He's a specialist. And you want this person specifically.
20:41Okay, that's fine. That's fine. I mean, we'll definitely put it in the budget. I am good with that. Okay, neither of you leave this. Neither of you leave this studio until you both download the Simpler Budget app. You'll create an account. Eventually, we'll be able to have two accounts access the same thing, but you'll create one account. You guys will log in together. You'll budget this. You're going to try this united. If you guys really have to be separate, then create your own separate ones. But use Simpler Budget. It's our budget and app made specifically for you guys. Use the premium version for free, literally for life, because you guys are guests on the show.
21:21They get like a few weeks to try it for free. But you, come on. It's as easy as that. I'm glad you guys are in therapy. That is a good first step. But I don't know. I've already just seen. And how long have we been filming? Like 20 minutes? It's just like deflection and blame towards each other. And one person cheats, the other person cheats. And it's just, which is important to know because I'm just trying to avoid us getting there again. Yeah, but he also has lots of excuses. Like he says that he doesn't know how to cook. Can't I just say we're blaming each other? We are because I can't find a middle ground because I like budgeting.
21:58He doesn't like budgeting. Why don't you like budgeting? That's kind of like the minimum basic thing. Cool shit. I don't know. You like cool shit. What is liking cool shit? I like cool shoes. I like... Do you like the mother of your child? Yeah, sometimes. Yeah, maybe you should keep her around. Sometimes. Yeah, I'm sure there's disagreements here and there, but aren't we playing the long game? At least for the sake of the fucking kid. Ideally, yeah. What are the excuses? So he doesn't know how to cook, so I have to try while I'm gone all day pretty much how to prep, which I can. She is the woman, am I right?
22:34But I'll get, you know, reamed a new a**hole for getting Starbucks, but then him and his buddy will buy two jet skis without telling me. Why the f*** are you buying jet skis? The water in Detroit is nasty anyway. What are you doing? The water in Detroit is not nasty. Do you just want lead all over your skin? What are you doing? I like cool s**t. I have fun with jet skis. This is a purchase that was made years and years ago. Lake Erie is objectively like the worst great lake that Michigan touches. Lake St. Clair. It's the fifth great lake.
23:03there's already five the sixth great lake i see what i'm dealing with here but he also he doesn't believe in any form of savings like i think there should be not maybe not three but at least two different forms of savings and he just thinks it's all one lump sum and as long as we don't go below a certain amount it's fine okay so why not cooking i know i'm making a little stupid but it's not it's not that i don't believe in savings i don't believe in a specific savings account like an actual cooking thing and going out to eat and all this stuff instead of collaborating with your wife ish here yeah i can't cook okay why not okay use our budget-friendly cookbook that comes with the app as well stop being a little bit well you already mean i can't cook you have you never heard google or youtube he He doesn't know how to follow it.
23:54You know, it's like five little steps. Are you a what? You're a 32 year old man child cook that can if he literally just tries once. I'm sure you learn things. You learn how to manage a jet ski and take care of it and maintenance and how to use it without dying. I think you can learn how to fry some eggs. Almost died on it. No, no. But you didn't. He can do frozen chicken nuggets and french fries and cereal and a sandwich. I can make sandwiches. I can make a bomb sandwich. And then the budgeting thing that she says. I want your perspective on this, man. She's throwing. Yeah, I mean, I don't like spending the time to sit down and looking at a sheet of paper that tells me what I can and can't buy.
24:38I just if I can buy it, I buy it.
24:43I don't agree. how do the conversations go with this it doesn't because he just does he just says if it goes below 10 000 that's when we have to worry and that's all i know i don't even know what our save well i guess our savings is i don't have one personally so i don't know anything about any of that in ours he says there is yeah i don't think there's ever like i know she said she has to ask for money but it's not like a permission thing it's hey i need money for this okay here why would she have to come to you though again now you guys aren't legally married because once again if we was all together I think it would be spent you wouldn't be able to control yourself you guys wouldn't be able to sit down and do the budget on a monthly basis and talk about what went wrong in this previous month and what we need to address for the future month I think recently we'd be able to do that but in past no chance I don't even think we can do that we were supposed to sit down this last weekend to talk about our stuff for the next coming week so I'm not like overstressed and we couldn't even do that so why life what the f*** is that we have a lot of crap going on I know everyone does at every time I would say busy is an understatement for us you have a kid you're a little busier than normal we have six pets too why so do I but if you can't literally afford life I don't think we're taking on that responsibility one's not ours so five even still what are they Dogs.
26:11Do they all have pet insurance? No. Then fuck you. What happens if they need a surgery that you cannot afford? So right now. Just let them die? I don't think you should have them in that case. Well, how would you do it then? Because right now I want to take care of these deaths. No, how would you do it? If they had a surgery or anything. My work is awesome. Oh, you are in that one lucky position. Yep. But that essentially means you can't leave for their sake or else. Yeah, we need to start budgeting in pet insurance. Probably 40 bucks per. Which I'm fine with. But not now. because I have such a good deal at work, I would rather have that when I'm done paying off debts for the most part, or, you know, have that allotted availability.
26:50There's no point right now because I pretty much pay nothing. Okay. I'll start jumping into these numbers. There was, I think I at least understand you guys' situation. What? There was, there was a period where we were getting at least one Amazon delivery a day, at least. Or were they necessities or fun? No. Necessities. organizing our fridge with containers is not a necessity that's not a necessity it helps me and it helps but it's not a necessity it's not a survival thing yeah but i also get stuff to help my kid get her own lunch and everything and then i get stuff you have to get from amazon to help her get her own lunch well like it's in a box shut up so that or i get stuff for him to help with cleaning the kitty litter that he's supposed to do i got that So there's a cat.
27:36You said all dogs. Oh, well, one cat. We have one cat. He doesn't do anything. Well, he poops and eats. Yeah, but it's automated for him to help. Well, you don't do anything. Oh, I think it's full. But yeah, we have an automated cat. Wait, what's the problem? So I try to get things that'll make things easier. Oh, you got the cat litter. Yeah. Okay, the automated. Or like a three liter watered thing for the dogs to drink out of so that we didn't have to fill. I know it's stupid, but. It's stupid. We still have to fill it every day. and it's a pain in the ass to feel okay well the thought was there but those are my purchases it's mainly for house stuff it's not like i'm buying jewelry but it's not necessary when we have that that we cannot and if you guys break up you're on your own you have no legal protection to anything oh i'm fucked you're because you guys refuse to get married well i have no money exactly my bills and you refuse to get married there's no protection here guys there's nothing yeah i want to know self-assessed where you guys think you are.
28:35I'm going to count down from three. It's going to be like three, two, one, go. And then on go, I want you guys to give me your household financial score, where you think you are. Zero being the worst, 10 being the best. At the same time. Three, two, one, four. Okay, four. So why do you think we're double where you think she is, or where she thinks you guys are? Because all are paid.

29:02I don't even think that's 100 % true, by the way. But okay. I guess maybe your portion of bills because we're so individualized. Yeah. I mean, we are in the danger of losing anything. Like our house, our cars. We don't have what happens. Payday loans, I don't think, or anything like that. But people that do end up losing stuff are usually at this position before they get there. You guys are on that slippery slope. And you might be the anchor for that. So you said two. Yeah. Well, I took your quiz. And it said two? It said two, but I also was very vague with stuff because, again, I don't know. Well, I tried my best based off what information he gave me when we did.
29:42Are you hiding information from her? No. No. Then what's the issue here? She tends to overreact and be very stressed with things. But I think I try to protect her more or less and make her not worry about things that she doesn't have to worry about. I still worry. It's not working. It's not working. So do you request transparency? Kind of. It even took a while for me to try to get my name on the house. But like, it's fine. But those are just. Oh, at least you do have that legal part. That's your one thing. Yeah, because it again comes. But I think. Would you guys get the house? 2020? Maybe. 2021.
30:242021. How's its value? Yes, it does. It's good. It's. Huh? He said, how's its value? Oh, I thought you said the house has value. I think we have probably about$70 ,000 to$80 ,000 in equity. 31:42And every single financial audit post show plus member weekly videos. It's crazy how much we have going on well I got so drunk. 32:21and if you want to be on the show you can go to calebhammer.com I like to ask guests who are here just a couple questions just for the sake of the audience who's considered applying you can come down here to Austin get beat up and meet the team so you guys went through the whole process and all that stuff how was the process did you guys know you were going to get yelled at and the thumbnails are going to be crazy and all that stuff I did absolutely yeah did you not tell him did you not watch the onboarding videos with her I watched the onboarding videos that that was what I was kind of scared about because yeah i'm a little bit combative and i don't like being yelled at combative so far for what it's worth but i it's okay so yeah and are you guys real people or actors real people yeah we're definitely real yeah the audience is or the sorry online is weird so i have to ask these things but for those who are considered applying now you all know okay yeah come on down we'll we'd love to have you guys the money
33:19synchrony amazon synchrony what i'm looking at if i'm not mistaken is mostly yours yep i do have all your documents you just don't have many yeah i don't uh i don't have any credit cards right now why are we so different here why why are we so different because i don't make a lot and also when i was no that's not well when i was making no money i but he would be supporting you as your husband but when we weren't together he wasn't so i've had some of these credit cards you were apart for six months and that was three years ago the one when my child was like a year old i have one decade ago so what are we doing a lot of money on that one credit card but even if it was in collections or something at that point it would have fallen off it's not in collections i know but you just held on to it for okay so what have you tried to do okay okay okay i get it i get it i get it so it was hard during that time but over the last 10 years when he has been yours You guys are supporting each other or at least supposed to.
34:13Yeah. Why is it maintained then instead of 10 years of paying it off of which it would have been paid off all of this? Because I didn't put a lot extra towards each one. Why? Because I didn't have the money to. I could. But you guys are together. I know. So I didn't want to keep taking his money because I didn't know where he's at. Is it taking his money because we're not together because we're not married because we're not an actual couple? No, but like eight months ago, I only found out how much he made at his job eight months ago. Why? How? We just. You guys are not together. You guys aren't together.
34:44You guys take care of the kids, but you guys are not together. We are. He knows how much I hate. We don't seem very united. Probably because you told him. Is it because he asked? No, he doesn't ask. Well, why aren't we communicating anything, guys? No wonder we've broken up twice. And listen, you're never going to get anywhere if you say everything bad in my life is because of something that happened 10 years ago. That is a victim mentality. You've had 10 years to fix it, of which you were not in that situation where you were 10 years ago. And yet you're not changing anything. I know. I'm just making excuses, but it's easier.
35:16It is easier. But guess what? It makes it actually harder long term because this gets worse and worse and worse. And eventually you do lose the house. That's what happens to people. Eventually you do lose the car. That's what happens to people. Detroit's not walkable. So you need that car. Especially him. so we know how much you guys made now over the course we had about we had kind of like a month and a half of statements it was an interesting situation but either way like 5 ,900 came through you and you was 1 ,250 is this less hours I guess 1 ,250 that's what we got from your payroll that hit shouldn't be well either way we know what comes in normally is 7 ,400 after everything together what did you guys spend combined of course you wouldn't know because we don't talk.
36:02I don't, but I don't even know what combined. Well, I definitely spent if it was the combined number. Let's just see where you guys even think where you guys are. 4 ,000? 3 ,500 was going to be my guess. 3 ,500 together. 4 ,000 together? You want to add a one at the front of that? I'm sorry? $13 ,000, guys. Are you kidding me? How have you operated? How have we gotten to this that is literally what it mathematically adds up to right there that's insane it is insane almost a thousand of it alone was going out to eat almost two thousand of it was miscellaneous bull that could either be things like video games or new tool for the jet ski or just things that do not matter it is miscellaneous bull unknown shopping things we couldn't tell it's usually like walmart or target because you don't really know it's either or not 2171 78 then additional large purchases which will go over 2400 jesus this is unsustainable beyond it's crazy it's working so far it's not the situation's getting worse wasn't it christmas ish time it was but you didn't have money so i don't give a f**k Regardless.
37:24I'm bad with Christmas. Yeah. Yes. You're bad at life. You're bad at the relationship. Objectively, from what we've talked about. If I didn't cut off. You guys are dating like high schoolers right now. Good job. But you're in your 30s. If I didn't cut off like a Christmas, like say, OK, that's enough. She would continue to buy our child gifts until. Do you have no self-control in life? Do you have any other addictions? Are you a vapor? Are you a drinker? What do you have? Because obviously you have no self-control. I don't do any of that. I was drinking, but I actually have stopped completely.
37:54Okay, because you didn't have self-control. Yeah, kind of. You didn't have self-control to not kiss that dude. Yeah, no, I mean, I don't want to agree with you, but I will. Yeah, because it's the truth. It is indicative throughout your life here. It's showing. Yeah, but if I don't buy her presents, he won't really buy her anything that she actually wants. He'll just get her random crap that's cheap. Also, half the unknown shopping was Amazon. Oh, that's me. And I'm going to go through that Amazon account. Okay. And I'm going to look at everything that was there. $1 ,646 on here with a$60 minimum payment.
38:27How long does this take to pay off? Just minimum payments without purchases, which, by the way, you fail at because you purchased$89.79, even though$42.92 of interest is accruing and we're making no progress, and the balance actually went up on something that you paid more than the minimum payment on. Congratulations. That's horrible. How long does it take to pay off only minimum payments with no purchases? Four years. Okay, 10 years. Oh, you're going to be in your 40s. That's what we want for an Amazon card. We want to be paying off 2024 Christmas in 10 years. No. Yeah. But I do pay over on all of them.
39:00Doesn't matter. The balance went up because you purchased. It doesn't matter if you put more money on it, if you are spending on it. Yeah. How does that not make sense, guys? I will never understand how that does not make sense to people. It makes me feel better. What does? Because I know if I just payment them, then I'm extra screwing myself with interest. So it's a cope. It's a cope. payments that you're doing come on amazon amazon lenny's pizza and amazon interest charge last year alone was five hundred uh ten dollars and just amazon one card a single card five hundred ten dollars taken from you remember you basically according to you have like no money that you make and you just gave away five hundred ten dollars to bezos you paid for his like 50th wife's new fake tits yeah but i needed okay oh uh i needed they all get that that would be nice i'll take some of those um no don't do it they're not as good they're not that cool exactly thank you well you aren't getting that unless you do it for you for your happiness yeah so we're gonna pay off debt and buy some boobies um the lenny thing was for my daughter's hockey tournament so that was needed the other thing is totes to organize the garage you got pizza well it's like uh protein pizza or like pretzels.
40:19It's weird. It's like the like I don't know. She bought the hockey team protein pretzels because they needed it for their game. You didn't need it. Well, we were supposed to bring something and then they ended up saying, OK, well, they're playing hockey. Well, it was. Yeah. Then bring a fist to their face. They need to build up stamina. I can't afford this. It's as simple as that. What is the credit limit on this? Is it 1500? Better Not be because you owe$1 ,646. Oh, well then, sure,$1 ,800. Well, you don't know a single thing. I don't know. Well, I don't see it. It doesn't say. What is it, a limited?
40:59I hope not. Danny Bezos giving you everything? All right, pull up that Amazon account and start a screen recording. We'll bleep out personal information. Okay, I don't know how this I do. Oh, my f***ing Apple, please. I love you. I use all your stuff and your stock's incredible. how is how is your shit bad how can i not search screen recordings this is ridiculous all right let's just go through the amazon okay dog encyclopedia yeah need that to survive lifesavers need that to survive some oil need that to survive it's for my kid's hair i don't give a the oil her hair is bad okay maybe that one's okay but the rest bad oh is this frizzy No, she gets like knots like a rat's nest.
41:44I promise. So that she needs that. Do you have curly hair? Yes, he does. I used to have very long hair. PS4 stand. We definitely don't need that with cooling. That was a gift card. I, it doesn't. Okay. I promise. Then use that on the oil. Well, I was before that. I didn't have the gift card. By one day. Well, yeah, because I spent it all on that, that PS4 thing. You probably just shouldn't spend money because you can't. There's organizers, organizers, organizers forever. a picture frame great necessary for survival it was what do you meme emotional stuffed animals shut the f**k up this is all bullshit i don't give a f**k what any of it's for this is all bulls**t veterinary stickers don't need it gummy peelable oranges don't need it we had a secret lemon heads definitely don't need that i don't give a f**k secret pay off your debt and then brag about it once you're done i can't say that to work what that you paid off your debt I can say that but don't be mad if I'm not part of the secret I don't give a f*** Okay listen But you got two things Get one I bet ring boxes Some luxury warming I don't know how far you can go on there Some pens Huh Buy him Christmas presents F*** his Christmas presents We had a deal this year that we would not buy each other Christmas presents That's what everyone says, though.
43:08Yeah, correct. It didn't work well. Multi-cat calming fragrance. It's because my cat was pissing everywhere. Smart garage door opener. And then feed it to the dogs. I can't. Don't do that. I love cats. I am kidding. Are you sure? I mean, I like dogs a little more because they do more have actual personalities. Yeah. Appreciate when you come home and do 10 times more things. But I do like cats just slightly less. Our cat's pretty cool. Yeah. Good. He goes to town on our big dog. That's weird. I know.
43:43Tell him to wrap it up on like you guys. Just that's so much bullshit. Mario. This is crap. That is all crap. I didn't see anything in there that was toilet paper or anything. You don't care. No, I thought you were going to say anything inappropriate. It was Christmas presents. I didn't know what was on this. Is there usually inappropriate stuff? No. Um, no. I heard um and no. Yeah, I don't know why there was an um. Because I got him a gift for, he got his own office and stuff. So I got him nice things for him off Amazon. I just didn't want you to see it. That's all. What is it? Things for my desk that I didn't need.
44:23But I appreciated them. What is it, gooning equipment? What are we talking about? We got fun bedroom stuff too. He just didn't say that part. Okay. Really, I didn't care. It was just weird how. Well, you asked. It was just weird how just like hiding you were. I didn't want to scar you if you saw anything. I thought, okay. Yes, I've never seen a sex toy. Aren't you single?
44:47Yes. Oh, so I didn't know how long it's been. That probably means I actually have more sex than married people. We're not married, that's why. Okay. Major channel announcement. Budgety, budgety, budgety. It's a new year. We're all trying to budget. We're all trying to make it a little better. We're trying to improve our life. You use any of the budgeting apps out there, it's crazy. It's hard to know what's even going on.

46:37Download the Simpler Budget app today. A link in the description below. This budgeting app will change your life. City Double Cash card. Is this also yours? Yep. That one is closed. Lindsey's suggesting we could get someone here to marry you. Yeah. Want to get married right now? No, my kid would kill me. Why? We tried it in Vegas last summer and she threw a conniption because she wouldn't be there. That's fair. Okay,$3 ,772.14. This is yours? $120 of minimum monthly payments. These payments and things. Remember when I said we pay everything on time? Why is there a fee? I'm curious. $30 fee. Interesting.
47:20I know the City Double Cash card has one that I have. Does not have an annual or monthly fee. Plus$82.91 of interest. So what's going on here? What's going on here? Oh, an interesting little return check fee. That's not my fault. Of course not. Why would anything ever be your fault? Why would you be in the situation where things are not your fault? Go ahead. What's not your fault? So it's partially my fault. Oh, a little bit of ownership. Okay. That whole communication thing that you keep talking to us about, we didn't have that. So at one point it was going through his card, like his debit card.
47:52Two of my bills do. and he didn't tell me there wasn't enough in there. So it got returned or whatever. It wasn't that it wasn't enough in there. I closed the account and I went with a new bank and didn't move everything. Yeah, so I didn't know until too late. So it wasn't on purpose. I had it set to auto pay. Because you guys can't communicate because you don't know what's in the accounts because you guys don't sit down and talk because you guys are not married because you guys are not adults because you guys are not in a weird relationship. Also doesn't matter because that's only$30 a fees and there's$153 of fees last year.
48:25So no, you do not pay everything on time. That either happens every fucking month or you're not paying on time. There's fees up the ass. It's endless fees. And then$1 ,360 of interest just last year alone on one card. Combining those, we're at about$200 in interest on the two cards we've looked at so far. What you make in a month. Yeah, those aren't the bad ones. You lost a month of income because of two credit cards because you can't manage your shit. But these I pay now by myself, which probably doesn't sound like myself, himself, his money, myself. You guys are a mess. But that way I know that I can pay these off and then I just have to make sure that the one gets paid through his account.
49:13So I just have to focus on one maybe not going through or something. So the kid's very mature. Are they going to watch this? Yeah. She's going to watch this. what is she gonna think of this disaster that you guys are so hopefully not want to be like this that's the idea but also we well I don't know about your family but I did not my mom has a horrible mindset she makes bank and somehow she has nothing to show for it so I just don't want to be like that the money part would be nice but you've been headed down that path for your 12 years of adulthood but trying I'm not seeing trying there's no trying did you guys see the spending spending 12 ,000 dollars you don't even make three.
49:49I know, but now I'm trying because I feel like I have the... What if you're trying? Because I don't see it. It's not in these statements. What's now? A day before you come on the show that doesn't count? That is not anything. I'm not a magic pill. I'm glad you're taking the first step. I'm glad you're doing couples therapy. But those Amazon orders that are literally happening right now that I just went through is not I'm trying. It's here's an excuse why we absolutely needed her or else we're going to die. Yeah, but what are you talking about trying? I don't think you know what the word trying is.
50:13Trying... I do. Really? I do because now I'm actually licensed so i can ask for the rate of pay i deserve that trust me this is not an income problem no but i'm saying with that i can pay it off easier no this is not an income problem people like you you you make more money you spend even double more than the raise you got that's if you don't end up in a situation like this if you're not like that that is your behavior but it feels good when i do i know when i pay stuff off sure but that means you never feel that feeling it must feel even better to go spend it because that's all you do yeah all you do is order on amazon and for the house and be late on payments i know it's i know what it's for but it's not necessities and you guys are not getting together you're not communicating on anything i don't think you know what trying is i'm glad you're getting a raise it's good i'm glad you finished the schooling part certification part that's good i'm glad that is it shows that you have work ethic but you're not putting in work here and do not with me by telling me you are i have the statements in front of me i just looked at your amazon in front of me yeah well if this is your trying that you're gonna die in poverty no i'm if your relationship is you guys trying then cheating and breaking up twice is not that'll be you guys not being together in the future and you guys have a kid to take care of so it's no longer a joke at that point it is not cutesy i have a fucking child this is not a joke free spirit bank of america card never even heard of this so there's a story behind that one kind of I'm taking the blame on this one oh okay I was supposed to pay it off immediately what do you mean immediately when was this and why the first time we used it okay how much I think it was like a thousand dollars a little over what did you use it for why did you have to use it I think it was for a trip that we were going on and it was like a interest-free Fort Lauderdale promotional period and I instead did not pay it off immediately.
52:17And I told him to and I only opened it because I knew I had to so I didn't know anything about points and all that crap but there was a thing when I was on a plane that you get a good amount of points if you signed up and were accepted that's all you had to do. But you didn't know anything about points? Well I knew that you could No no no I'm just saying I didn't know how much a flight necessarily costs with points but I knew that I was taking a spirit trip soon. So I was like, okay, cool. I'll get this and get the initial points to help. Well, he said we should use this credit card for our trip to Fort Lauderdale and then I'll pay it off right away.
52:51And he never did. So I didn't pay it off, dude. Why didn't he pay it off? Let's hear it from your perspective. I mean, I, I told him once or twice and then he didn't. I said, screw it. And I used it a little bit too. What kind of response is that? It's not, but it's the literal opposite. I thought you were going to say, so I paid it off to be responsible for the house. No, you can't because you've put yourself in a position. Absolutely. But that's where that sentence would naturally go for a reasonable person. But I didn't even want it. Instead, you made it worse. I didn't want it. But you still spent more on it because he didn't pay it off.
53:24That doesn't make any sense. That is beyond stupid. So that means it's not all my fault. No, it is. Why did you not pay it off, dude? I was being lazy. I don't know. You don't know? I probably spent the money. When? When was this? Last year? Yeah. I think last year. You guys are equally just bad with money and communicating. You guys can get the Fizz card because obviously you guys are not credit card people. It only allows you to spend what's in your checking account. It's a debit card that builds credit. See, I didn't want that one. So that's not completely my fault. If I wouldn't have even applied for it or put money on it, it would have been fine.
54:01Why did you guys get it if you didn't want it? Because I just, I was stupid, but I thought that the points would help because I was trying to get money off of a... So you applied for it. Well, yeah, I just wanted money off of the flight. So it doesn't matter if you didn't fucking want it, you applied for it. But I was going on a trip where everything was paid for except for the flight. You applied for it. I did. So I don't care if you didn't want it. You are the one that did it. That doesn't make sense. It's not like he did it against your will. So what the fuck is the I didn't want it? That doesn't do anything.
54:27I was trying to make a smart thing to get a discount on a flight and it didn't work. And guess what? Now we're losing$33 ,046 in interest, and it takes seven years to pay off. You're going to be approaching 40 at that point. Going to Old Navy,$371 in interest. Oh, good,$228 of fees last year. What is that? Missed payments every single month? Late payments every single month? What are we doing? Well done, guys. Congratulations. We can't manage a single credit card. And now with the fees and the interest, we're at about$2 ,600 of money completely stolen from you last year. Well done. good job i think that was when i wanted him to pay it off and then i forgot and then i didn't pay the monthly and then for like a year though because that is a huge amount that stacks i did just um freeze it or whatever it's called now i know i can still use it close it no you didn't but i don't carry it with me oh so you i don't even have it on like there's not a term for that you're just saying you don't have it in your wallet no i don't have it on my phone and i don't I don't ever carry.
55:28No, it is frozen too or whatever word. You froze it. Yeah. What do you mean you froze it? Like, uh, I want to know what that means to you. Like you can't use it. But you still have it. You didn't close the account. No, I know I didn't close it. I know that. Well, the interest is still accruing. You still have to make your payments on time. The purchasing wasn't an issue there. I don't see any purchasing on here. That's not what I called out. All I know is it's, yeah, less than 80 hours away from the credit limit. So, uh, that's a, that's a recent thing you did. Oh wait, there are purchases what am i talking about old navy that was amazon well the old navy one was for the christmas looks like the old navy was returned but the amazon was purchased i don't know what that one is exactly good but you're the amazon queen you don't even know what's being put on the card that's a queen interest that had hundreds of dollars of late fees last year and is now at the credit limit now i do it was i needed something for christmas and i had enough money left over on that card so i didn't have to tell him i was buying another Christmas present.
56:23Literally at the time of this, the NVIDIA stock just dipped. Yeah. Yeah. He knows he's following that. That$228 of fees and$371 of interest. Today, I just opened up Moomoo my investing app that I personally use and I bought NVIDIA because I wanted to buy the dip. That money that you could be putting into situations like that, opportunities, is just being absolutely lost because you're just giving it to the bank because you refuse to pay your bills on time.
56:58Okay, what the f*** is this? Oh, a GMC Acadia. That's probably what it is. Who's GMC Acadia? Mine. Everything is yours. But I don't know anything about that. We have bad car luck. What the f*** does that mean? Does that mean all of a sudden I'm nice? Like, what do you mean? I bought it, but it's her car. Whose credit is it on? Both of our names are on the car. Okay, so we do have some joint. Okay. Well, it's$363 minimum payment. Who makes the payment? Because we're separated. He does. I didn't want the car. You do. So she doesn't even make the payment. Good, because I don't know how you'd afford it.
57:31I can't. I had a car that I had paid off. So$14 ,195.69. What's the interest rate on this? I don't want to talk about that. It's bad. The interest rate is bad. What is the interest rate on this? I think it's like 15%. It's 14. I just looked. But so. You co-signed in and still a 14. Stupid percent. But we didn't have a choice. Kind of. You didn't have a choice. You said you didn't want this car. I didn't. Then you had a choice to not get it. I mean. What the fuck are you talking about? No. Living in the lovely Detroit. We've had two cars stolen. A year from each other. Do you not have a garage?
58:10We do. One of them was stolen out of our driveway. The other one was stolen at a hospital. when I was at the doctor. It was the same car too, by the way. How do you guys live there? It was actually in a very nice area, like an hour north of Detroit. There's Kalamazoo, there's Grand Rapids, there's Traverse City. There's so many good places, and you guys live in Detroit? We live north of Detroit. It's not actually Detroit, but it's close. Guys, your car got stolen twice. Why do you live there? In Shelby Township. He got a car. I don't know what that means. A very wealthy area? You're underwater by 13 ,000.
58:45Well, that's probably where they go to steal the car. So that makes sense. But it was a car that he knew got stolen a lot. And he has bought it three times. Wait, has this been stolen? This one? No. No, it's not that. No. The car that got stolen twice. It was a Trailblazer SS. It's a very common. Wait, wait. It was stolen. Then it was found. No, he bought another one. And then he bought another one after that. I've had three of them. And three were stolen. No, one of them was totaled by a drunk driver. Oh, my. Wait, wait. Why this? You're underwater by a thousand. That's not crazy. But the 14 % interest rate is insane and stupid.
59:18How long is the term of the loan? Five years. Okay. Well, it's not great. So why this? Why force her into this position? So her stipulation was that it had third row seating. And that's pretty much the most reliable thing that I could put her. Reliable? What's reliable to you? What do you mean reliable? I wanted to put her and our kid in a nice-ish car. Why do you need a third row? One kid. No, it's mainly for, A, if I have to take any of her teammates anywhere, or if I need to put that down. Make them steal a car. Everyone does. If I have to put those down to put her hockey and all her soccer crap in the trunk.
59:56Well, yeah, just get a good trunk. You don't need a third row. So for the soccer players? Usually the third row just takes up the trunk space. We don't use the third row seats very much. It's just a big trunk. Okay. So you did need this? I mean I didn't need it but if he was going to Try and get a car for me That was the only thing I cared about How long have you had this? A year and a half What was the purchase price? Why couldn't we get any more$10 ,000? I like cool shit This isn't cool It's nice I don't know anything about it. I just said, okay. This is a normal fucking whatever. It's like a cool mom car.
1:00:41I guess. Get a fucking Toyota minivan. Again, I had no say. I've never. Why did she have no say in what to get though? Not say. I think more or less she had no care. Like I said, I said, what do you want? And she said, I want a big trunk or third row seating. That's what it was. It wasn't that she had no choice. I was fine with my car. She was fine with her car. At the time, because of the stolen vehicles, we were driving a 2021 Jeep Compass that we were paying$650 a month. Oh, for f***ing sake. So I got out of that. No, it was a lease. You rolled it over? I rolled it over, yes. So I got out of that.
1:01:23What was it rolled over into? Into this? No, I rolled the totaled car or the stolen car into the lease. What about the remainder of the lease, though? I got out of it positively. Oh, okay. Because you bought through the same dealership? I sold the lease to a different car dealership. Yeah. And then bought that. Okay. I have no idea what's going on right now. Well, all that I care about is that you have a$14 ,195 car, 14 % interest, had a five-year turn with four years left, had a$363 minimum payment that he's taking care of because, again, we're separate. I tried to refinance it within the last month or so and got ghosted by the.
1:02:06Ghosted? What do you mean ghosted? He just stopped answering my calls and emails. The guy that I was dealing with. Like what? From where? It was called AutoPay was the company. Okay. You didn't like. Well, why didn't you use the opportunity? You already had the credit. Did you already have the hard inquiry on your credit? Yes. Okay. Then why didn't you just apply to other places? I was just trying to keep up contacting him and it just hasn't worked. Why him? Are you in love? What the fuck is happening? No, I liked the rate that we were getting. I think it was like down to 9%. Yeah, you were ghosted, buddy.
1:02:34Sorry, happens every once in a while. You got... Not used to it. Oh, must be nice. We've been together for 10 years. What are you talking about? Who are you getting ghosted by? I mean, I've been ghosted before. A while ago. A long time ago. A while ago. Well, yeah, but still. Well, at this point, we don't know with you guys. Okay, Capital One Venture One. Who has this? That's me. This is the long one. This is my first credit card ever. $9 ,579.78. since it's your first credit card and it's over the credit limit? I hate it. Yeah. Oh, no, no, no. So, no. Yes, yes. No. Yes. I just found out. I didn't know this, but it was$10 ,000 was my max, and they've been lowering it, which is fine.
1:03:14I just didn't know that. So, it looks like it's over, I think, because I just looked at it. Yeah, but it's because they keep lowering it. I didn't know that. Oh, good. You're not purchasing on it. How long does this take to pay off? Oh, I don't know. 27 years? 26 years. That's a great guess. It was a great guess and it's a horrible life. It is. I hate it. And he wants to. I hate it. Why the fuck is it never being paid down at all in the 10 years that you guys are, you know, making money and living in a pretty cheap area? I think we pay$350 a month on that. It's like 200 something interest. Yeah, it was$221.13 of interest.
1:03:47Minimally payment, 316. 26 years to pay off. When did you rack this up? When was the last time a purchase was made on it? Be honest. 26.74 % interest. I mean, if. Fees last year. fees. Does this card have a fee or are those late fees? Probably late fees. I don't think it has a fee. Oh, does it? I could be wrong, but I think it has an annual. Oh, I'd look it up, but I don't have it. I don't have search capabilities. $2 ,575 of interest. So now$5 ,000 of fees and interest were taken from you last year. Oh my God. Two months of your earnings. Two months of your earnings are gone. Yes, but since I started.
1:04:26Oh, there's going to be a but to that? For all my current or aspiring content creators, keep listening. Making videos can seem like a breeze, but let me tell you the truth. It's not only hard, but it takes time and a lot of it. But with tools like today's sponsor, InVideo, it doesn't have to be. InVideo is a tool using AI that empowers you to make whatever kind of content you need without the usual hassle. Say goodbye to hours at the editing doc, days of filming, and recording your own voiceovers. Whether you're a content veteran or just starting, InVideo is there to make the process easy. So how does it work?
1:05:01Step one, just type in your idea. For example, let's create a one-minute trailer where Indiana Jones discovers a new age influencer at Area 51. Under the moonlit desert sky, Indiana Jones faces a tall barbed wire fence. Indy crouches, cutting through the fence. The desert is quiet, his face half-lit by the moon as he sneaks inside. Inside a large dark hangar. Step two, make sure things are perfect. Want to change the music? Type ad dramatic music that's similar to the original Indiana Jones soundtrack. And just like that, you get the music you need. Need a voiceover? You can even clone your voice so it sounds just like you.
1:05:39Indiana, always the skeptic, is drawn into her world of crystals, prophecies, and extraterrestrial whispers. Within video, it's like you have your own content studio without the space and massive overhead. Start to finish. It's your creative partner helping you get started, irrespective of the skill level you're already at. You can even try it for free, and you'll see the countless amount of hours saved. So if you haven't checked out InVideo AI V3 already, go check it out right now for free. Use my link and code in the description. This will save you hundreds of dollars that you would have otherwise spent on editing, animating, and other production costs.
1:06:15Try out the future of video creation today. I actually started to try to do the I don't think it's maybe snowball, whatever that stupid thing is. The thing where you pay off the higher interest, but the lower amount one, because this is going to take me forever. So I'd rather get rid of the smaller ones and put that. When was your last purchase on it? Probably for Christmas, but 20 bucks. But before that, no. You're purchasing on this? I don't know. Snowball method does not work if you're purchasing it. That's not in the method. I don't. OK, I don't think I am, but I don't want you to get all upset again.
1:06:46So I'm just going to say maybe a small purchase to like. How do you not know you're going through this method? I don't think I did, but I can't remember. Yeah, that's. Oh, capital one. Capital one. Venture rewards. Credit. That version has an$90 fee. But the capital one venture one credit. Huh? Venture. Is this the venture one? Yeah. This one does not have a fee. Those are late fees. Sweet. Awesome. that goes through brian yeah brian pays for that because how are you guys deciding what happens where again you're so weird with all this i can afford the smaller bills i can't afford the why is it the his mine all this stuff though this is so weird he doesn't want to join it it's not even the joint account why aren't you guys attacking them together the joint account isn't even the big thing she just says hey we need to pay x amount of dollar on this card i say okay but there's been times where I say hey can we pay 200 extra towards this and he'll say well I can't do that right now but okay what about the care credit I got screwed on that one yeah because you've been the victim this entire conversation how are you the victim in this one well I have paid for some of his medical stuff with it but it was used before I was working it was used for our pets um but I did also her mother's pet if you can't f***ing four pets don't get them her mother's pet is on there it is not fair to the pet but when i got it i was working in a vet clinic and you couldn't afford it yet because we still well no that was the in between when i wasn't i was working a really good um hospital and then i is it free i mean it's not free but it and how would you still be able to afford a major surgery either a they can take it out of your pay if they have to or well that's not a 40 well i do every i haven't had a major surgery i know yet i know i know i can But otherwise, everything else like one time a dog has to eat something and it gets stuck in their intestine.
1:08:42No, I know. But I don't pay for like x-rays. I don't pay for easy. The surgery is what kills you. I do most of the surgery, too. So you don't do the surgery. A surgeon does the surgery. If you can't afford pet insurance, you can't afford pets. That is like the basic new reality here. I'm not going to follow that. Like I would I would go I would go into way more debt for a pet. Yeah, until you aren't qualified. No, I know. But I'm saying that I will always have a pet. Yeah, but what if you get denied the f***ing debt? I didn't even know pet insurance was a thing. Yeah. Pet insurance is okay. It depends on the kind.
1:09:20I don't like some of them. Well, yeah, some of them are just like some insurances in general. But see, the thing is I wouldn't use it because I don't need it for wellness. I'm not saying for wellness. I'm saying for those. It's insurance for the big things. Just like you have health insurance so that when a big thing happens, you're not going bankrupt. But also it's going to be kind of expensive for some of mine because they have like issues already or they're 17 years old. So that's a different conversation. So some of them I can't. That's a different conversation. But I'm saying with the new ones that you get.
1:09:46Yeah. Yes. Okay. That. Yeah. We can fit that into the budget. I'm fine with that. But for some of them, it does. Price wise, it doesn't make sense for me. Yes. No. I mean, once you have like a 17 year old. No, I wouldn't recommend it. Yeah. Or even. Or a chronically sick one. Yeah. Okay. Even those with like past issues of doing things. Because they won't do anything. That's not the point. Yeah. The holidays mean more travel, more shopping, more time online, and more personal info in more places that could expose you more to identity theft. And I wouldn't say you do them, but that's not the point. I'm just saying if you cannot afford the basic health insurance, when you get a pet, you can't afford the pet because if you can't afford the basic health insurance, then you also cannot afford the basic big thing to save their life.
1:10:46Yeah. That is a, obviously, you know, we suck at communicating, but that's a conversation we just haven't had, but I did look into it. I did look into it and price wise for all the pets. Well, obviously not the sick ones in the old one. So 4 ,424 on here. Yeah. Well, I thought, cause I was making all the payments. $148 down minimum fee payment on$103 ,048 of interest screwing. Well, not this month, but probably last year. 17 years to pay off. All these are multi-decades. Let's see. $287 of fees. She let her mom put her dog's ACL surgery on that card. Why? And it didn't get paid off in the promotional period like it was agreed upon.
1:11:24Why? I mean, I don't know. She couldn't get her own debt? She had her own. she has huge financial issues. That's not her fault. It's not. It's not? Nothing's anyone's fault. Oh, it's awesome. She got got by somebody faking being somebody else and they opened a business together and he was operating under a fake name and got her for like$200 ,000. Yeah. So it was not her fault. Oh yeah, it's a huge thing. But anyway, so I did that, but it doesn't pay it to the promotional periods, which I didn't know. I thought if I didn't know you signed up for something you didn't understand great I mean yeah because I signed up when I was 19 so my balance people can't ask questions at 19 no I can but I don't know I've never had one my mother never talked to me about it he didn't have any cards yeah congratulations welcome to the entire world where none of us are financially educated when we're born you learn things you ask questions which I should have and now I learned my lesson and now you have this what's the$287 of fees last year though I had it on autopay and it wasn't working so I called to complain no I did you called the complaint but it wasn't big enough for obviously their fault enough for them to reverse it well they did it once and then I signed up for auto pay he made me do it on the phone with him and I said okay does it say signed up now he said what do you mean it wasn't working what's not working it's not it wasn't auto paying then what why aren't you tracking your though regardless I did check after the fact and that when I called him this is a lot of late fees No, I know.
1:12:55It went on for a while. So that's why I said through this. Why aren't you looking at your accounts ever? I was just after the fact. I never looked. After the fact every single time? So you're like, oh, wait, that one failed last time. It's okay. And then after I started. It failed last month. I'm sure it's going to work this month. Well, I signed up. He watched me and the dude on the phone said that it signed up for auto pays. Yeah, but this is a lot of auto pays, though. So I'm saying if you notice one miss and you corrected it, okay. But obviously it failed again. Yeah. Like how many times does it take until you like, okay, maybe I just make the payment.
1:13:24Well, yeah. Then I said, screw it. I'm not doing auto pay. And now I just do it by like, just go a day or two. So now we're at$6 ,500 or so. No. Of fees. Oh, okay. I'm sorry. I thought you meant total. I was like, absolutely not. Fees and interest across the board. Yep. It's insane. We might hit. And that one actually was down to about$2 ,500. And then with all the promotional ending, it went down up to like$4 ,000 something. thing and department now on that so how much in student loans do you have is it just this 3453 yeah and that's from a while ago are you paying on them i wasn't um i did start because i assumed i should i just paid the interest i paid well i paid 50 which covered the interest that was built up which is probably stupid but i don't know what to do with it because i don't need to pay it now Log in?
1:14:14No, I do, but it's deferred. What does it say? It's deferred, okay. Yeah. It's deferred, yeah. Till January of 2026. Okay. Okay, that was the actual answer. Oh, the mortgage. Okay. At a 2.875 rate. We love that. You're both on this. We did it. Yeah, and she gets really upset when I tell her we're never moving because of our interest rate. I mean we can still move and you can still use that to rent I just don't like the house Why? Not anytime soon $1 ,459 and 79 cents a month Why don't you like the house? For all the crap we have There's not enough room 1 ,600 square feet But we don't have a traditional We don't have like storage areas My kid doesn't have anywhere to do anything No basement?
1:15:11No Attic? on a very small one. The attic is just over the kitchen. And Brian was doing all the house hunting himself and then, for the most part, for the most part, and we've never obviously bought a house. Because you guys weren't married and you're not together. Don't laugh at him. I don't know. What's this AT &T thing that I have? I don't know. That's just our phone bill. It's$410 a month. My mom, my stepdad, they pay their portion. What's their portion? Like$200-ish. So even you guys alone are$200? I have three lines. Why? I have a work phone, but they reimburse me. How much is that? They reimburse me$50.
1:15:56Okay, so even$150. And we have my phone, her phone, and our daughter has a phone. Are the phones owned outright? No. I don't know about this either. Which isn't good. I think they're all about$5 a month. The thing is, I love just the different resources out there. Again, one of the things that we connect people with and the audience, Helium for literally$15 a month. T-Mobile Tower, same service as T-Mobile. But you can't do that when you owe the phone, when you still owe on the phone to someone. Okay. Well, okay. What am I seeing here? This is retirement. Whose retirement is$4 ,300? Mine. okay dramatically behind for your age yeah it's it's new he never had a big boy job for a good amount of years so what was this thing that someone told me at the beginning we pay our bills on time because that was obviously a complete line we've just gone through this and every account had late fees but they're old late fees from a year that ended a month ago shut the up listen including in that year was an overdraft from a checking account yeah no we are not financially sound you cannot have any that's sense of financial security fifth third is you yeah yeah so you're both you're both stupid with money i don't want everyone to hear one person's good one person's bad absolutely not any balance of 86 it's okay it's a little and i'd rather get closer a couple thousand just in case he doesn't believe in keeping money in banks but that's where your mortgage is paid he only puts in the stuff for bills yeah i well Keep cash.
1:17:36What the f*** are you? Dude, you're in Detroit. That's the worst place to keep cash. We have a safe. We have two safes. Watch them learn how to take a safe. One is very small. Watch them learn how to get screwdrivers. That's another thing we don't agree on is he doesn't like to put any money in any form of different savings. And also he doesn't like... You're losing 3 % a year to inflation. Why would you want that? And then why would you want your house to be a spot where robbers would look? Well, they don't know that it's there. They don't advertise it. Even though you're using a fake name, there are going to be a few people who know who you are.
1:18:18This is fair. Yeah. But also, I don't even know what's in the savings. I don't even know. What is in? How much cash? Like$15 ,000. You're fucking stupid. Why not get 4 % in a high-yield savings? I didn't know that there were savings accounts that had that good of interest rates are you you can look things what is with people and not just trying to ask questions I I don't get it he likes to do like his own stocks he like researched that when there's your own stocks you have$15 ,000 in cash what's that no I'm saying he liked to do what was it take it to the moon or whatever that stupid thing was yeah I got caught up in the AMC GameStop stuff he would play that on our TV all day long and I had to watch this really annoying guy.
1:19:00I'm so tired now. I thought it was a stockmaster for... What, you were watching Roaring Kitty? No, who was that annoying kid? What was his name? I don't know. Matt Coors or something like that? It was the worst. No, I don't think he ended up being anything. Merchant Payment, Chop House Detroit, Chipotle, a grill, Venmo and Out Money, Amazon, Fantastics. What's that? fanatics. So in Michigan, we have all the online sports gambling apps. Where should you gamble? I don't gamble. I hustle them for their promotions. What do you mean? What was this$50 then? Because it was still$50 that left your account.
1:19:43Correct. And if you go through them... Are you seeing a pattern, Mr. GameStop AMC? Yes. But it's a good pattern. How much money did you make on GameStop and AMC? Like$6 ,000. You made. Yes. And you took out. Yes. I'm glad you actually took out. Where'd that go? That was a long time ago. I didn't know that. Well, who knows what he's been doing since. Go. Explain. I just hustle them for their promos. If they have like a deposit 50, get 10. I deposit the 50 and then you can lose$1 for 53 and then you profit the nine. if you're being 100 % truthful net across the board are you profitable? yes 100 % yes how profitable?
1:20:30I mean very minuscule but it's at zero risk what's the point? he is good at poker and gambling I will say because we do trips and stuff for poker itself I put it in the fun money but you guys just don't have money to risk right now but he doesn't risk it for poker I have a backer I used to play poker for a living and I still play very occasionally but I have a backer for that. Marshalls, PayPal and out, Zelle and out, Netflix, Von Marr. Look at your card. There's so many things that you put. Dude, this is crazy. This is all bullshit. PayPal out, PayPal out, sending money, Zelle out. Where's all this money going that you're just sending Zelle and payment initiative?
1:21:13Zelle is normally to me. Zelle. To Kara. Zelle Venmo Spotify going and getting some BS from the gas station probably PayPal oh wait I don't even know what that is but there's pay in fours PayPal paying fours do you know about that? That one I do know is a present for me You paying for a present through? What is it? We went and saw Kevin Hart We saw my husband. Yeah, Kevin Hart is her, like, it was her bucket list person she wanted to see live. And that was her one. I'm sorry, I had to. How much was it? Like$300-ish. Okay, for two tickets? Yeah. It was great. Oh, he's not doing very well, is he?
1:22:00Wait, first of all, you're not going to speed past that. Like, you didn't just say what you just said. We had bad seats. And it was an extra. He added another show last minute. He did three shows. Okay, so he's doing pretty well. Disney Plus, Pop Belly. It's a restaurant. on Amazon, Amazon, Wings, etc. Venmo out money. People out money. This is crazy. This is going out in the bulk dogs and the Amazon Taco Bell. Penn Station. Is that the sub place? It's the one thing. Besides my family, it is the one thing I miss about Michigan. That place is so good. It's the best. It's a Midwest chain. I would open it down here if I could.
1:22:37Columbia. The cookies. You guys ever get the cookies from there? From Penn Station? The best. They're unreal. Oh, it's insane. But you shouldn't because you don't have money. Amazon, Chomp Detroit, Chill Box, going and getting some BS. Amazon, Carousel, Amazon, Amazon, Superior Stick, and PayPal, PayPal, PayPal. This is crazy. And PayPal paying for. That's so much. The money that's just out back and forth is crazy, man. Crazy. That was three pages. And then Chase, is that you? It could be either of us. We both have a J.S. account. Well, 510, Rare Mind and Body. That's me, but that's my therapist.

1:25:55There's been the glass red wine. There's been recent science done. Boring. Oh my gosh. Whose account is this? Mine. Brian. So you have more bullshit spending. Bet online$500. Food group. Taco Bell. $200. $200 to bet again MGM. The credit is better. Bellasinos. Food. Okay. $55. bet$100 bet $190 sushi McDonald's McDonald's Amazon Amazon dicks dicks Amazon Amazon bought dicks what is it you f***ed that was like a thousand dollars of the betting bull yeah and if you look at the credits it's more than the debits be careful man don't f*** it up people f*** it up all the time you might be on the good side now that does not mean you're on the good side forever I'm sure she used to be on the good side of drinking.
1:26:54Oh, that cut me deep. Doesn't mean you're there forever, though. I will say he's pretty decent at it. Now. No, I'm saying he makes good money doing it and he doesn't have that. All it takes is a sunk loss fallacy, though. All he has to do is just take a major loss one day and he just spirals. But I'm not going on there and playing like blackjack and slots and stuff. Until you're tempted to. I don't know. I'm just saying be careful. That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying, oh, you're a bad person. I'm just saying be careful. Okay, so the income that comes in,$7 ,400. alright minimum monthly debt payments let's get this I'm going to do this as a household like you guys should do and get married and actually be adults my goodness do you have that person on their way to come marry us no cause your daughter you guys can bring her your daughter's here no you could ship her out within 10 minutes ok your debt payments even still is crazy $1 ,054 $1 ,054.91 Okay and the mortgage is$1 ,459.17 What about utilities?
1:27:59Let's do water, gas, electric That's on you Average I would say $3.50 a month For all that? Internet? $72 a month Gas, vroom, vroom, drive, drive I'm like$2.50 And I'm probably more like$4.00 or$500 I drive a lot for work Do you get reimbursed? Is that included in the income though that I had? No. They pay my lease. They don't give me anything. $750. Car insurances?
1:28:38$360. I almost said her car payment. It's$462. For both? Yes. Michigan, I think, does have the highest carnage of the nation though. Necessary food total. You and the guys. Use the kid. Use the cookbook and the budgeting app. Okay. Could we do 600? I was going to do about 7. For groceries? You guys go out to eat all the time. Well, because he needs to help make faster foods because I'm not home half the time. 700? You're meal prepping. That's really fast. You warm it up. No, I know, but I only have I work six days a week sometimes and then they will be meal prepping you're gonna learn to meal prep I mean this is what's gonna happen it's time to grow up 700 hours uh tp find anything else to survive I'm gonna do 200 this can be school stuff for kids as well something's gonna be less than a month something's gonna be more medical health care what is the co-pays for all the stuff in the cost of the therapy all that blah blah couples is 300 a month my um therapy is 40 a month and then our daughter has like inhalers and stuff so like 80 for all of our medicine.
1:29:49Anything else? I have a psychologist but that's every three months and it's 30 bucks. Alright for 30 Jim? I have yeah. How much? 36. Do you have yours? Yeah 25. 61. Anything else? Sports. our sports and our kids sports that should be in the TP fund it's not going to fit in there a lot our kid plays travel soccer how much a month for hockey can range anywhere from 200 to 300 and then soccer is 100 to 300 you said 200 to 300 depending on fundraising and then soccer is 100 and then us in the summer about like 120 for 3 months and what's yours I don't pay for mine Only in the summer Well we do indoor too but I pay like Nothing for that Like nothing We've been in the I'll put 350 Now I'm going to round it up to 400 because of all the bullshit Oh crap I have subscriptions too I don't know if you No you don't you're canceling them Well I don't know about that I do Well one of them I can't it's my kids band instrument Okay I don't know if that's a subscription How much is that?
1:31:10How much is that? Okay, that would be TP fund. But I'm lowering your TP. That's a lot in TP. Huh? That's a lot going to TP besides TP. Shh. I'm lowering your TP fund to$150 a month. You're just going to have to figure it out and budget like adults. And then I'm doing the sport separately at$400. Oh, okay. Sorry. I was panicking. Well, we're going to see if it works. It probably won't. Yeah. And you're canceling all of the bullshit subscriptions. You're canceling the Netflix, all the crap. Well. Oh, my. What? My kid doesn't have any form of TV. They have YouTube. They have YouTube. YouTube Kids.
1:31:44It's free. Does she have YouTube in her? So I can't watch Night Agent anymore? No one knows what that is. Oh, it's a great show. Well, no one knows what it is. Because it's probably cable TV, which means nobody watches it. No, it's on Netflix. Oh, I also have a sports subscription. For my kid. I know you just did. For my kid. No, it's called Live Barn to watch hockey games. How much? 22 a month. I'll give you guys$50 for subscriptions and you figure out where that goes. How many young pets that are healthy? Three. Okay. And one that's not ours, but three. Are you going to pay for the one that's not yours?
1:32:23No, we don't pay for that one. Three total that are ours. Three total are ours. $120 for pet insurance. How much for pet food? Across the board, give me how much. Let me do math. About 120 to 130 a month. I'll do 130. Two don't get food and the one got too much food because I messed up something. Anything else that needs to be in this budget? Speak now. I can't remember. I don't think so. Do you have a Starbucks fund? F*** you. $1 ,210 is what you guys have left. Okay. So if you guys actually team this up, my method is you guys team this up. actually get married with your daughter in attendance and you guys start working at this together that's how i would do it and that's the method that i'm going to recommend so removing the mortgage and the student loans the bad debt that we're going to collectively pay off this doesn't mean you need a joint checking account we're budgeting together though and we're funneling the money correctly you have 45 289 dollars of bad debt jesus christ yep it's insane i can't believe you guys have allowed this but it's because you don't know how to act like adults with your money 1 ,200 i'm giving you your subscription money and all that and sports money so i'm not giving you any more fun money and it's going to take 36 months to pay off which is three years just over three years let's call it so three three and a half to three and a quarter years to fully pay off all the bad debt get a fully funded emergency fund room for flexibility it's called four years this will be a four-year process four-year process get your pay raises that helps pay raises you get your pay raises that helps work a second job potentially i don't know there's things you can do but either way a four-year process for deck uh over a decade of mistake making it's actually not the worst yeah so this is the consequences of reactions time to stop being a f*** up actually being an adult do this budget together unite as a couple come on it sounds a lot less fun but it is a lot less fun sorry you don't get to go f*** other people when you're with someone i apologize spending a budget zero out of ten you guys were horrible you spent an insane amount of money debt no collections which is good the bad debt is bad combine you guys it's not the most horrific but it is still actually pretty horrific two out of ten emergency fund you have cash yes but that's our everything fund that's our savings that's our emergency that's our if we have a trip coming up i don't like no there's no trips no but no there are no trips but no not voluntary it's his his work pays for it so we would just work for the to an extent well i'm not going to drain it but you're going to take probably five thousand of it you're going to put it in a high yield emergency fund and throw ten thousand dollars in the step well he will do that because he's going to man up he's going to be a big boy i don't want to do it No, you don't, but you're going to do what's right for your household and kid instead of being a little pussy.
1:35:24Oh, okay. So that leaves us with no, what if something happened? Leaves you$5 ,000. Okay. And it leaves you on the edge of your seat and it leaves you to grind this out. But guess what? $10 ,000 that pushes this process six months closer. Yeah. It leaves you extra money left over on a monthly basis because that$10 ,000 is going to take care of one, two, three, maybe four loans, potentially four loans, which gives you all that extra minimum monthly payments that would be going towards them into your money. It snowballs the process. You guys will start getting out of debt. Also, her car, potential way to do it.
1:36:05Never mind. We can just pay it off. We'll continue paying that off. technically we could save a couple thousand dollars if we downsize but that's okay so emergency fund with where you are getting kind of close it's not the worst but we are going to drain and i'm going to do a five out of ten for that retirement you're behind dramatically do you have a retirement um kind of she just started it i have one at another job but i don't know if they pull that out when retirement two out of ten no they don't you have to either roll it over oh so or cash it out if did how much was in it under 500 okay two out of 10 real estate that part's the good part real estate i'm very happy with um you don't like the area that part kind of sucks um i'm a little stringent i'm a real estate scorer not everyone necessarily agrees with that but for where you are with the equity position you have i am going to give you a very strong and happy eight out of 10 wow because there is still technically debt and risk there seven out of ten oh i like the eight better you shouldn't have said wow it pissed him off plus two plus seven divided that by 50 hammer financial score for now round it up with the emergency fund cash which is the stupid part and the real estate it'll bring you guys up to a three and a half out of ten guys join us in the post show it gets real wild back there talking about more private things more extra confrontations and stuff join our youtube membership join elite for the best value of your dollar there's thousands of hours of extra content we upload almost every day of the week with extra stuff and you can even call in and talk to us in the call-in show um yeah and don't forget to check out the simpler budget app in all of our educational classes that you can bundle together for 15 off love you guys see you on the post show you are an oh girly you're an oh girly trying to pay off debt via with a kid oh no wonder you're the original cheater it was under his control though you You wanted your girl to start an O-F to pay off her debt.
1:38:00Trying to put her out to pay off debt. Stop, stop, stop, stop. You tried to get your girl to start an O-F to pay off her debt.
