And probably countries want to lean in rather than lean out on it. But you also need the government to go ahead and say, we will create the environment that is conducive to you being successful. And that's what the United States government did yesterday. We saw people from the investment audience. We saw people who were founders of startups. We saw business executives. And we saw politicians, including the president of the United States and the vice president.
0:30They all got together down in Washington, D.C., and they said they wanted to do a couple things. The first is they want to accelerate permitting to build data center infrastructure. The second is they want to promote the export of American AI models abroad. And the third is that they want to protect Americans from woke AI models. Those are the three key components of what they want to do here. Now, President Trump showing up to an event like this, just his presence alone means that the government thinks is important. But here's what Trump had to say about the executive order that he signed yesterday.
0:58To ensure America maintains the world-class infrastructure we need to win today, I will sign a sweeping executive order to fast-track federal permitting, streamline reviews, and do everything possible to expedite construction of all major AI infrastructure projects. And this will be done. You will get so good a service in so many ways, not only from Lee with the environment, but you need many other types of permits and you're going to go so fast. you're going to say, well, wait a minute, this is too fast. I didn't expect to go this quickly. This is a problem. I may cause a problem in opposite, but including factories, data centers, and power plants of all kinds, the United States will have total industrial and technological supremacy.
1:42Now, it's pretty cool to see the president of the United States talking about AI like this. Joe Lonsdale also had a great take on X. He said gutting red tape on infrastructure and AI model development, especially by blocking a patchwork of misguided state regulations, will let companies build without bureaucrats slowing them down. Let's work with Congress to get it done. AI innovation will save millions of lives with new drugs. It will revitalize our industrial base and massively increase American productivity. Now, my big takeaway from all of this is it is game on in America when it comes to AI.
2:13Everyone knows that this is going to be disruptive and it is the future of technology and especially in software. Well, Sean, I thought this was perhaps the most important technology speech by an American president since JFK declared that we had to go to the moon. In a similar way, President Trump declared that we had to win the AI race. I think that's a really important point here. And I think you can argue that the AI race is more important than the space race. It's going to reshape the global economy and determine who the superpowers of the 21st century are. If we continue to lead in AI, America will be the most powerful country in the world.
2:44But if we don't, we could fall behind our global competitors. And what President Trump did, I think, was lay out a plan for winning this AI race so that America remains the most powerful country in the world. But now we have the government who is saying, we will create the environment. We're going to move all of the red tape out of the way. And we are going to let you, the private market, do your thing. If you're an investor, invest money. If you're a startup founder, then create things from scratch. And if you're a big company executive, then use your resources to go and advance AI in America.
3:14This is the type of public private partnership that is really going to drive true innovation and hopefully make sure that America does not get beat to the AI race. If we can be the leader here, we will have a very bright future for many years to come. Now, most people know the meme is the message. That's a phrase that I have uttered hundreds of times in recent years. We're living through a period of time where memes not only set the public conversation, but they spread like a digital wildfire all over social media whenever they strike a chord. Take American Eagle as the most recent example. They announced a new ad campaign yesterday with Sydney Sweeney.
3:50She's an American actress who's become popular in recent years, and people see her as some sort of like modern symbol of American beauty. Whether you find her actually attractive or not, your opinion doesn't matter because the market has determined that Sweeney is a meme. And remember, memes are the message.
4:11Sydney Sweeney, Hasbro Keynes.
4:24So when American Eagle announced this ad campaign, it just wasn't any regular ad campaign. It was a campaign that pulled on the nostalgia of a generation, a woman walking around in jeans and being around an American muscle car. But the genius of this ad campaign is not only the person in the ad or the throwback feeling that was infused throughout the creative, but rather it was the simplicity of the meme. Sidney Sweeney has great genes. It's so simple, yet it's so powerful at the same time. So you may be wondering, why the hell am I talking about a random ad campaign to people in finance and business?
4:57Well, American Eagle stock has surged 22 % since yesterday's close. And you can see all over the internet, some of the largest finance-related social media accounts posted about the meme and the stock price movement. Liquidity is not just a small little account and obviously it caught his attention. So how's all this connected? Well, our friends at Geiger Capital point out that the self-directed investors online are all over these types of internet native moments as soon as they happen. Look at what this investor on Reddit posted yesterday. He saw the ad campaign and he immediately threw money into the company.
5:29Now, this is the future of finance. Means grab and hold attention. Attention turns into capital flows. Capital flows turn into assets on a company's balance sheet and assets on a company's balance sheet can be invested to create more revenue and profit. We saw companies like GameStop turned the newfound attention they had into more than$9 billion in assets on their balance sheet. DJT, that stock has now loaded up their balance sheet with billions of dollars as well. Those are just two examples, and there's plenty more over the years. Memes are the message, and if you can create the right meme, it is worth billions of dollars to public companies now.
6:03The housing market's broken. Everyone knows it. But now we've got new data that comes from Navy Federal Chief Economist, Heather Long. She says that 2025 is on track to be one of the worst years for home sales in the past 30 years. It may even turn out to be the single worst one in 30 years. The June data came in and it was even weaker than expected. 3.93 million sales, that's annualized data, and that's down from over 5 million pre-pandemic. Now, housing is a key reason why many Americans still feel that the basics for a decent life are unaffordable. They can't buy a home right now. And most people agree that every American should have the ability and the opportunity to afford a home.
6:43Now, lower mortgage rates, according to Heather, that would help, but more inventory would help even more. And this goes back to what we've been talking about now for weeks and even months. Homes are unaffordable in America. You have to drive interest rates down to make it cheaper to actually borrow capital to buy these homes. You actually need wages to outpace inflation and that real wage growth that's now starting to tick up. That's a key component. And then, And of course, it's a supply and demand market. If house prices are not in the place you want them to be, then you need to build more houses.
7:14And as I continue to say, local city councils and their regulation, they are a huge impediment to building more homes in many, many places across the country. Get that regulation out of the way, let home builders build homes, and you will see home prices drop and that will make homes more affordable. And all of a sudden, that American dream, the right for someone to pursue a life of happiness, wealth, and also have the right to own the home that they live in. All of that will come back if we just build more homes and get the interest rate down. That's it for today. Hope you guys are enjoying today's show.
7:50Having a blast putting it together. Please make sure that you're following us on X and please, please, please make sure that you subscribe on YouTube. We will see you guys live tomorrow from the desk of Anthony Pompliano.
