Yeah, I have to hear if it's recording and whatnot. Okay. Are we recording? Yeah, we're recording. We're going. Are we on?
0:16Three, two, one.
0:17Kevin:Kevin! What's up? Nothing. What's up? New format alert. I mean, maybe. We're really switching everything up. We're trying new things. We're getting experimental. So yeah, I mean, the format right now for the audio is the same, but we're cooking shit up. The format is visual, which is, you know, it's a visual for an audio medium. Yeah. We're just experimenting with some stuff. We're trying to keep the flame alive. Yeah. We're trying new stuff in the bedroom. That's it. You know, just trying to keep it fresh and trying new stuff in the office. Welcome back. I feel like I, uh, I, I've seen you, uh, this week, but for the last few months, it's been Kevin on the road.
0:59How was your travels, your international travels?
1:03Kevin:France was tight. Lots of bread. Lots of bread. This was your first time in France? Yeah, pretty much. Oh, okay. Yeah. I went when I was 18, but - Okay. I don't know. Didn't really. I don't think it counts. I thought you were going to say you went when you were like four or five. You went when you were 18. Yeah, I don't think it counts. I was dumb. Okay, but now you're smart. Yeah, yeah. I know more things. Fromage? More culture. Yeah, fromage, bread, pate, tartare. Yeah. All the good stuff. Enjoyed it. Yeah. Of course. Yeah. Of course. You know me. What's up? You said, you know me. Yeah, those are all your things, dude.
1:36I'm an enjoyer. You are an enjoyer and an international sort of traveler, for sure. Damn right. How was Coachella? It was beautiful. I mean, the thing about Coachella is that it is a gorgeous music festival. The people on the internet make it seem like it's this awful, you know, influencer branded moment. To be honest, I didn't see a single branded tent. Like, they do a good job.
2:01Kevin:You didn't see one brand? No, I mean, obviously there are brands there, but like I actively was avoiding them. You had your brand blinders on? I did. I just decided to not go down the paths towards the booths area. You chose the path of not branding? I did. I actually did. Oh my God. Because I wasn't trying to find out who won Coachella. What brand came out on top? Yeah, who won Coachella though? Justin Bieber. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, musicians. I was there to see the music, man. I'm a purist. Yeah. So when Bieber did a set, you were there, right? I was. That's why you went. I was there for Justin Bieber.
2:34Kevin:Was he singing songs or was he just playing YouTube videos? I feel like as a culture, we've moved past this. But yeah, I mean, he was taking the audience on a dance in time through his old catalog. and he did it in a very fun and creative way. Did he sing? He did sing. But you know what, listen, like I, we all as a world, we have short attention spans, myself included. I've talked about this many times on the program. I don't want to hear all of his old songs like in their entirety. I just want him to, you know, sort of put them on for a second, do a little bit of baby and then get out of there.
3:16Kevin:So I thought it was a really great way for him to pull up some old songs on YouTube. And then... He sung them, right? Yeah, he would sing them. All right. But he just wasn't giving you the full three and a half minute, the entirety of the song, which no one wants. He's just doing like reels. He's just doing the reels version. Yeah, exactly. That's good. One verse, one chorus, and get out of there. That's all you need. And he mostly did Swag and Swag 2, which I think album of the year. Did he perform those or was he still on YouTube for those? No, he performed them. I'm going to ask it. I didn't see.
3:50Kevin:I've been living under a rock, Alex. That's right. You've been traveling. Yeah. He performed for an hour and a half, and the YouTube thing was a bit that he did for probably 20 minutes. Okay. That's what I was asking. I didn't know if he did it the whole time. And the people that said that that was lazy or sort of like, they didn't get it. They didn't get the urge. Yeah. That's too eyebrow for them. Yeah. They wouldn't understand what Justin Bieber was saying about his past self. Damn. They've never done child work before. What? What does child work? Oh, in therapy when you sort of try to think about your inner child.
4:23Kevin:Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. I'm somewhat familiar. Yes, exactly. So he was healing his inner child, Kevin. Oh, my God. It's a beautiful moment. Wow. Good for him. Yeah. Good for you too. Yeah. Great for me. But no, it was a beautiful festival. There's no better feeling than being there at like 6 o 'clock, 6.30. 6, 7? Going down and you're in the desert and you have a beer in your hand and it's a golden hour. Music is playing. That sounds great. It's an excellent time. That's phenomenal. It was a good time. I'm happy you had a good time. Any other highlights? Geese is a psyop. Did you see that story?
5:03Yeah, I saw that.
5:04Kevin:I did see that. I knew it. Yeah. What's actually funny is their crowd was quite small for Coachella and now I know why because they're bots. people got psyoped into thinking that they're a psyop and now no the story came out after oh really yeah damn and so yeah bots don't show up uh at the goby tent apparently damn so you do hate to see it and then i i was curious i was like oh wow not that many geese people maybe it's a new york thing because you know in new york they're oh yeah they're from from here yeah they're they're they're basically a hot band in new york yeah they're the strokes they're yeah you know they're the Beatles.
5:39Kevin:I liked their music. Me too. I liked the music too. And I feel I'm pissed. I got psyoped into it though. I know me too. I can't believe they made me like that. I know. Yeah. I was, what are they trying to, what are they pushing? Music. Yeah. Big geese, big geese. Exactly. We should get Phil Gripson, grill, Phippson on the program to talk about whether geese is a, I don't want to hear what he has to say. He's, he's part of the psyop. Oh yeah. He is part of his, maybe that's why you should come on and talk to us. This goes deep. He was part of the psyop. This goes deep. exactly i got to see your favorite brand turnstile who you saw them when they were here in brooklyn i hear they're a stop too they uh yeah maybe maybe uh psyop or not turnstile was pretty far they were great yeah i had not seen them i don't really to be honest i went to the concert i'm not wild about the music yeah i just wanted to go move bodies yeah i just wanted to get into it i want to mix it up yeah i liked i liked uh i hadn't seen them live and i liked that album so i was happy to see them and yeah yeah sabrina carpenter uh addison ring you know wow the bangers all the bangers but was sabrina carpenter good not particularly oh oh yeah uh surprising she's she i'm like i think her music is good i think she's a good singer but i wasn't it was you know it's funny like a lot of people compared you know uh her set and justin's set because justin basically just came out and sang his songs and she does like the big broadway thing to be honest i'd rather just people perform their songs like i don't need uh you know all these set changes and interstitials and sort of things.
7:05I like that sometimes.
7:05Kevin:I mean, sometimes it's good. And again, not everybody needs to perform the same way. It's good, it's good. But yeah, we're back in the New York groove. Knicks, we're Knicks basketball mode. No Mets? What about the Mets? I don't know. I'm more of a Yankees guy. I don't know if you saw my new hat. Oh my God, yeah, you did get a new hat. You can't switch it up like that. That's blasphemy. You know, it's funny. I've never worn a Yankees hat before. I don't think this is a Yankees hat. it's upside down and it's made out of flour so I'm calling it a New York hat I'm justifying that but also the Mets are terrible so if there was ever a time to jump ship now you can't be talking that's disgraceful here's the thing you can't get worried about baseball in April that's cool I'm watching it it's too early shout out to my boys are you watching Euphoria?
7:58Kevin:yeah I'm only on the first episode though I'm behind You're behind. Dude, I'm catching up. I've been under a rock for months. I know. You got to come back to culture. When I was writing this doc, I was like, holy shit. I don't even remember where to look. You got to lock back in. I know. I got to be locked in. This week, I am way more locked in than last week. That's good. Just getting back in the stew, getting back in the swing of things. It can be tough sometimes. No, I got to. I mean, listen. I'm dialed. Why see the world when you got the beach? Damn. Did you make that up? Yeah. Yeah, we got to lock in because culture is happening every damn day.
8:32Culture is happening.
8:32Kevin:We got to be quicker. We got to be quicker and we got to be on the beat. So, yeah. No, I fell asleep on the third episode of Euphoria now two nights in a row. So, I got to lock in myself. But I'm enjoying it. I don't know that it's good. But I'm enjoying it because it's like watching a train wreck and a car crash then switch to another train wreck and a plane crash. It's insane. I had fun watching the first episode. Like, I'm like, can't something just be good? You know, can't we just enjoy it? It's got to be like, you know, it's always got to level up and, you know, it's got to be all about this legacy shit.
9:06Kevin:But I don't know. Just enjoy the show. That's the thing. It's like or not or don't enjoy it if you don't want to. And to be honest, I think you're right. Like, I think we talked about this with the idol. It's like we hated it so much that we fucking scared it out of here. We basically like and I wish it was still here. I feel like that show was crazy and terrible. So bad. It was good. Kind of awesome. and I miss it. So I think that's what we're doing to Euphoria and getting all these actors on a screen. Well, it's out the door anyway, so it's like, you know. Yeah, but I feel like we should just appreciate it, like LeBron James.
9:38Appreciate it while we have it.
9:40Kevin:LeBron. He made his teammate. He did. And they're playing well. And that wasn't an alley-oop, but listen, it's a cool thing. It was a beautiful thing. I mean, the fact that he's playing in playoff games, meaningful games, and they're playing together. He's playing good plays. Is that block he had before the alley-oop? I'm going to say something crazy. Would I take Bronny on the Knicks? Would I trade Mikael Bridges straight up for Bronny James? Did you see the stuff with InfoWars? Yeah, it's pretty good. Shout out to Valark on Brand New with the best comment of all time. They're turning the frigging fonts.
10:15Kevin:Yeah, they rolled out. So I guess the Onion purchased InfoWars. I remember this. And yeah, so they're making some changes. Yeah. They're making a lot of changes. Have they officially taken over? Because I went on InfoWars and it looked like it was still the old InfoWars. No, I was on today. I was looking up today because I had to check. Apparently, Tim Heidecker has been put into charge, which, you know, good. That makes sense. Good move. But yeah, they've rolled out a rainbow wordmark with - Yeah, they replaced the O with an onion. Replaced the O with an onion. Great move. and then they there's a version of it that's rainbow to support the LGBTQ plus which notoriously InfoWars was not supporting so I was scrolling their site today just trying to check it out and they've got a lot of good fake ads there for products like Demon Guard little cross shaped bandaid you know no longer shall the wicked prey on the righteous Very nice.
11:18Yeah.
11:18Kevin:My personal favorite is turn your gold into piss. It says liquidate your assets. Yep. Which is a very funny reference to some QAnon shit of people taking all their money out or putting their money into gold. Which, I don't know. I guess putting your money into gold isn't the worst investment. No. Whatever. But they're doing a good job. They're having fun. I'm resonating with these ads. You know I love a fake ad. A fake ad is one of the best things to do. This is the funniest thing to happen, of course, for Alex Jones. I don't totally remember the story, but he owed millions and millions of dollars.
11:52Kevin:He got sued for like$1.5 billion. That's right. So now he had to sell Infowars, his sort of coveted platform. And then The Onion bought it, and now they're just running amok with it. I mean, that's pretty incredible. Yeah, it's great. Spike brand. We love a Spike brand. Yeah, it's the best thing to happen for culture and The Onion. Absolutely. I like how they used the Onion O to sort of signify that this is, again, the new era. The new era. It's like the WWE. It's like the Attitude Era. Yeah, the Attitude Era for InfoWars. Yeah. Well, I'm sure this will only lead to really amazing and hilarious things.
12:30For sure. Yeah. Tim Heidecker being in charge. It's great. Yeah. Learn to float. It's hilarious. The ads look super great. But yeah, we'll continue to monitor and watch and see what they do with this. But yeah, shout out to the Onion Classic. I hope they just start selling fake products. Well, that's what they've always done, right? Continue to sell fake products. I think they've just been right.
12:49Kevin:And do they sell fake products? Ooh, InfoWars? Oh. Oh, yeah. We're crossed here. Okay. Yeah. We'll see what they do. They're going to continue to make great stuff. Did you watch the London Marathon? A guy ran it in under two hours. Dude, they had four record breakers. Four people broke world records. That's insane. Dude, running a marathon in under two hours? is so freaking crazy, dude. Yeah, psychotic. Four miles, four plus miles. Big day for Adidas. Yeah, they did win. That's what they're saying. Yeah, because both the men. The top two men and then the top woman. Yeah, all wearing the same sneaker.
13:26Kevin:All broke world records. Yeah, I mean, I don't know if I've talked about this on the show because no one wants to hear about my running journey, but they have these new super shoes. Yeah, the carbon plate. And they have the carbon plate on the bottom. And I was gifted a pair from Brooks. Shout out to Brooks Running. my favorite brand for uh all things running uh and it took a minute off of my mile time which wow is pretty significant like to extrapolate that by 26 that's what i'm saying and i didn't use them for the marathon i are they illegal well no they're legal but these are the same and but these are now the era of the super shoe but i'd never run in a super shoe before and it it's pretty insane like it just yeah i don't know i'm doing the same shit out there and it's just going I'm just going faster.
14:08So these shoes are the Adidas, you know, super, super shoe. I don't know.
14:12Kevin:I think they're toe in the line with these ones. They got some sort of like carbon fiber technology. Yeah. Where I believe the one other one's like a carbon fiber plate. Okay. So yeah, they, I think it's probably just dialed back considerably. They were previously banned. You weren't allowed to wear them in races. No, just the, this non-robed shoe. But the ones like the Nike ones are still banned. Oh really? Yeah. Those are still banned. These are like different. I think they're like just less like glass. I think they're less. So like, I think the Nike carbon fiber ones are carbon fiber plates.
14:41Kevin:Like legitimately like cheating. They also have some crazy cushion thing where like they propel you forward. Like you're at such an angle that even like walking around in them is a little awkward. So you got running them. Yeah. You go out and run in them, but shout out Sebastian Sawa from Kenya. Yeah. One hour, 59 minutes and 30 seconds. My math is bad, but that's four plus change for each mile for 26 consecutive miles. That's crazy. That's fucking insane. You couldn't go out there and run a straight four and a half minute mile in an all out sprint. No, I couldn't run it. I couldn't do that. Well, no, but I'm saying you couldn't even do a quarter of a mile at that pace.
15:20Doing that 26 miles in a row is insane. They put the shoes on sale yesterday morning. Wow. $500 a piece. damn i bet they cleaned up they sold out in two minutes damn yeah so shout out to adidas and to be honest it made me you know i've kept my loyalty and my my my my brand deals with brooks oh i thought you were a nike guy no brooks brooks through and through did you abandon nike after their mishap in boston i was never a nike guy i've always i was in i was an asics guy okay for for for a time
15:51Kevin:but uh i know i'm trying to i'm trying to move to the next stop oh oh i've always been i've always been a Brooks guy. But yeah, no, this is the, you know, running is a hot sport right now. Everyone's doing it. And the shoes are certainly a big deal. And Adidas winning this is a big deal in the sort of running shoe race. Nike, as you mentioned, had their own sort of situation, which was a bit of a blunder. So Nike has this great campaign that they do for all these marathons they've been doing it now for maybe two or so years they do these giant red posters and they have great lines that talk about like losing your toenails and uh sort of you know eating goo is very relatable stuff new york city state of mind like they're all very uh sort of sort of contextually relevant ads to wherever the marathon is and they put them all over the course yeah and alex is a notable goo guy big goo guy i love goo yeah i'm a big fan but i do find these ads to be great.
16:52I think this is like, you know, sort of classic Nike, great copywriting. I love, I love contextually relevant ads. And I love when just an ad that's just like, you know, just type, just color. And you're like, I know exactly what this is for. So they put those up in Boston, right? Cause the Boston marathon was last week, London marathon was this week. And they had an ad that said, runners welcome, walkers tolerated. And people got big mad.
17:18Kevin:Yeah, everyone was really mad. A lot of takes on LinkedIn. People are really firing the takes off on this one on LinkedIn. Yeah, I mean, I get it, right? As someone that walked some of the marathon, listen, this is upsetting to me. I'm hurt. You're triggered? I'm hurt. How dare you, Nike? How dare you sort of tolerate me? Yeah. That's bullshit. Yeah, you need to be loving and supporting everybody. Yeah, don't walk shame me. Yeah. but uh listen i'm not actually mad about this and i think people that are actually mad about this are insane but it does kind of go against nike's general sort of philosophy that if you have a body or an athlete that's kind of the thing about nike so it does uh bring into question yeah why they would put up an ad like this but they're just trying to be funny so as you know as a copywriter nobody we can't make jokes anymore you make some jokes you're gonna ruffle some feathers yeah no i mean i don't know it's not like i'm not a runner i don't really speak on this i'm i am a walker yeah and i don't give a shit to be honest like now i don't know who cares like why why are you getting mad about freaking words on a billboard that are like saying that they tolerate you i don't know like come on yeah what are we doing here like yeah it's uh it's attention grabbing and you're falling into the trap yeah exactly and i probably just got copied well i guess and and nike took it down right they took it down yeah they took it down which is so stupid then there's backlash to them taking it down because they're like how you know Why would you take it down?
18:45Kevin:It just creates this hurricane of LinkedIn hot takes. It's just like, can we all just take a breath? But we have to have a take. Listen, I don't think it's the best. I'm mad. I'm mad. It's not like the best line I've ever seen in my life. Sorry, I was not mad. I was mad, and then I'm not mad, and now I'm mad again. Wow. How dare you? That's good. How dare you? How dare you? I'm a runner, too, just because I had to take a little break. My legs were tired. Yeah, well. 26 miles, dude. We'll tolerate it, though. My legs got tired. Aw. I got tired. It's hard out there. Yeah. bridges that's tough but uh yeah no it's a it's i don't think it's the best line i've ever seen in my entire life i wouldn't die on the hill for this but like i don't know does everything it's a little mean spirited which is i think why yeah people are like it's not like but does everything need to be like oh my god you're so good like oh yeah we love you yeah so that's what i'm gonna handle any sort of like yeah i don't know get you handle any sort of tongue-in-cheek joke yes exactly runners welcome walkers taller and it's not like we're it's not like it says like fuck walkers we hate you like go fucking die but no one wants to be tolerated kevin that's fine like you know i'm not i don't want to be tolerated out here i uh well what if i spend my good money on nike running shoes i bought the 400 pair of super shoes i walk and i'm walking down the block and i see that ad and i'm like they don't they you know they don't i don't know i don't know what to tell you i don't know but you know what maybe just get over it you know another person that's shit out of luck is bronnie james because his b9 logo is denied oh oh yeah this is a big design story because as you know, on the program, we love the intersection of sports and design.
20:14Nike, so they gave Bronny a logo,
20:17Kevin:which, does Bronny need a logo? I mean, the way he's playing right now in the playoffs, I think so. I think they were early. I feel like sport, I guess he needs a logo. I guess, sorry, I don't know what I'm saying. That's crazy. Everyone needs a logo. And so Bronny James has a logo. It's a, I'm just going to be real with you. It's a bad logo. The B9 logo that they made for him, it's just like this giant b and then it's got a nine in the sort of uh yeah inside of it which is just like the most cliche thing you could yeah but it kind of looks like a leaf and it's like growing you for what because because brawny is like just a young like he's just a young plant like he's a seed he's a seed he's growing you know he's growing into you know it to fill massive shoes i sure i i don't see that in this logo i don't like this logo i just think it's particularly bad.
21:08Well, they're going to have to go back to the drawing board anyway, because a company called Back Nine, a golf company, they make golf apparel out of Austin, Texas, apparently owns the trademark for the B and the Nine integrated together. Wow. Which, I mean, I guess the logos are somewhat similar, but this feels like a stretch.

21:31Kevin:It's a really good day to be the Back Nine brand. Yeah. Yeah, really, really nice. I'm sure maybe you could negotiate with Nike. Maybe not, though. I don't know. They might just steamroll it. I feel like if I'm Bronny, I'm like, you know what? This logo wasn't that great. Let's go back. Well, he needs somebody in his ear to tell him that. Yeah, listen, Bronny, bang our line. I think that logo is not good enough for you. You're LeBron James' son. No, he's Bronny, dude. He's not LeBron James' son. He's Bronny. Bronny. He's Bronny. B9? B9? Listen, no one knows what number he is. That's another pet peeve of mine.
22:01Don't put your number in your logo. It could change. like it could change exactly it could change and no one cares you know what i actually found out today courtesy of jerry joseph uh you know trainer to the stars um he told me that all the basketball players that have had achilles injuries in the playoffs all wear the number zero oh yeah vincenzo tatum uh damian lillard that's crazy tyrese halliburton it's the same people who are pushing geese dude dude psyop yeah what's going on it's it's got to be connected that's crazy you know what though don't wear the number zero oh pick pick a number okay you're an old head pick a number you know being zero you sound like a boomer now i have the sort of uh facts on my side who
22:44Kevin:cares where's zero get in a terrier achilles i think this is the number is haunted you think it's yeah yeah i think you shouldn't i think it shouldn't even be available to you i think what about double zero no yeah gilbert arenas yeah look what happened him you should not wear the number zero i think he was just zero i think he was double zero all right whatever whatever he was definitely zero uh zero is it shouldn't be available and you know what no player should wear it from here on out wow that's a hard line stance yeah speaking of uniforms kevin we got big news in the nfl uniform update we got big small news bit yeah a lot of brands did incremental changes to their to their to their uniforms and to their identity i'd say the biggest one was the rams um oh and and the the guardians right i guess that's what they call them now guardians you're wrong sport dude uh what are we got the rams we got the ravens oh the commanders sorry i i was thinking about the washington commanders i forgot i i missed uh yeah commanders and guardians that's that's fair um it's it's a bad name commanders like we can look back on things and be like you know what that's a terrible name they should have stayed um football team yeah i I mean, the football team was fine.
23:54Kevin:That was fucking amazing. They should have kept it. The Washington football team? They did just really go back to those uniforms that they had, like minus the number or the helmet numbers. Yeah. They just slapped that W on there, which is like not even that cool of a W. Yeah. They should have kept it, football team. Yeah. And then just had like some sick, like, you know, blocky W, you know? Yeah. I don't see the word commanders on any of this stuff. Like, I think they are moving away from commanders because it's a terrible name. That's possible, yeah. And they should just be Washington. Washington football team.
24:25But yeah, so Washington and St. Louis. St. Louis, essentially. Los Angeles.
24:31Kevin:Oh, fuck. Damn, dude. I'm slipping. Yeah, dude. You're right. The St. Louis Rams moved to Los Angeles. Like 10 years ago. Like, yeah. God, Jesus Christ, get with it. And they did the right thing, though. They've been moving towards the sort of cobalt, blue, and yellow identity, moving away from the Navy. and then they had this gradient thing that was it didn't great it's never play like what's they're doing too much i agree i think this is like i liked a lot of these like i like the rams update a lot because they really just like i feel like it was the design team standing up and said hey we we were doing too much with these first this first iteration yeah the gradients they took the gradients off the numbers which is such a good move it looks way better and then they also simplified like the shoulder sleeve they simplified that mark to be just more like of the iconic ram horn, which is like the core of that identity.
25:24Kevin:Classic. So they did a real good job. And they also, they went away, moved away from Bone-wise. I was going to say, I kind of liked the Bone, but it never looked good on TV. No, it never looked good. And every time I saw them in-game wearing the Bone uniforms, they just kind of looked weird. So I understand. They just kind of looked like dirty. They looked like white, dirty uniforms that went through the wash a couple times. They didn't look particularly... No, they did not look good. Yeah, so it makes sense. Go to White. I think one of the good things about the football jerseys are when they're the fresh, clean whites, and then they get fucked up and look all sick during the game.
25:58Kevin:You don't want them looking dirty coming out. You got to look clean. You got to earn that. The Ravens, those uniform changes are so minor. Yeah. Did you see they had a big, not televised thing. Maybe it was locally televised, but they did a huge thing for it. Yeah. They sold tickets probably, and they got everyone there to unveil a new iridescent or metallic number piping. Oh, yeah. Which is pretty cool. I'll give it to them there. I'm looking at it right now. I like that. That's sick. It is cool. Yeah. That's crazy, though. To fill an arena for piping on numbers on the front of your uniform. And then they have some metallic wing collar detail, which I hate collar details.
26:41Kevin:I think get them out of here. It doesn't look good. They never look good. Yeah, that reminds me of Oregon Duck. Yeah, remember the beginning of the Nike era? They were trying to do all that weird collar shit. Yeah. You know what? None of them are still around. None of the collars are still around. Yeah, these... Yeah, I agree. I don't love the way they look. But, you know, it's funny. I don't really think of ravens as birds. I know that's a silly thing to say. But, like, yeah. To see the wings. But, like, the thing is, yeah. Do they need this? Like, did they need, like, a wing patch? Talon stripes?
27:09I don't know, though. They needed wings and stripes. But, yeah, I mean, I don't mind the talon stripe.
27:14Kevin:like it's kind of like a nice modernization of what they had like because i think they just had like a vertical plain vertical stripe what do you think about this black helmet i like the black helmet i think the black helmet is pretty fire i don't love it i feel like where is there a black uniform that they're gonna wear it with yeah look at look at lamar in the picture uh yeah i don't love that black uniform is that's like the dark raven kind of vibe i mean that's their i think that's their like primary the the raven the the whole identity is so tough though I feel like they don't need the black.
27:45Kevin:I don't think they need two purple jerseys. Why do they have two purple jerseys? I don't know. They got one with the white numbers and the gold numbers. Yeah, I don't like the yellow number. Get that out of here. Just go for the white. I don't know. I think simplify the system. They're literally going to remove these wing collars in a year or two. They'll update these. I don't love the gold either. I don't think that looks particularly necessary here. and the Falcons they almost look like they did nothing how is this like what's the story here these uniforms change at all they stripped a bunch of stuff away like they had like that big weird ATL on the front before you remember that oh yeah yeah yeah and then they've been slowly they like have been slowly stepping away from all of that stuff that they did a couple years ago like the post Matt Ryan years like yeah yeah remember they had like the gradient uniforms oh they did have a gradient oh they don't wear those anymore did they have like a crazy helmet thing I don't know about the crazy helmet thing but I mean, they really just like kind of stripped these back.
28:43I would, I don't know.
28:44Kevin:There's all, they got a bunch of writing and stuff. All these, it's funny. All these ones have like, you know, concept names, like authentic, fast, timeless. Like they did a lot of writing about this stuff and they really just stripped it away. And I mean, to be honest, my take here is like, I would have just loved to see them. Timeless. I would have just loved to see them do like their, they have like the dirty bird, you know, the dirty birds, like throwbacks they were. They should have just blew that out. Like, you know, just made like the – did like a black, red, and white jersey, and then like black, red, white, silver pants.
29:16Kevin:They got rid of the ATL. Got it on the front. They just kind of are all going back to just kind of like the classic heritage jerseys. The throwback jerseys are basically like the main jerseys. Yeah. I mean, they're a little different. I find these ones to be a little bland. I think they kind of look like the Texans now. I kind of agree. I feel like they stripped it back so much. They went too far. that like there's almost nothing to them and I'm kind of bored. What I think is the most exciting story of all of these stories is the MC Escher, uh, commanders W that the spear, which I generally like this logo.
29:49I feel like it's a nice, like nod back to the history without kind of going too far into that. It, it, it's, it's a nice mark, but the fact that the spear is going through the W in a way that is physically impossible in real life, which is such a silly thing to get upset about online. But that made me laugh. And I love that people were trying to put a spear or sort of like a pencil through a W. Yeah, it just doesn't work. It doesn't work. You can't do it. It's an optical illusion. Do you think they intended it to be an optical illusion? I have no idea, to be honest with you. Yeah. I think that's pretty.
30:25I don't know.
30:26Kevin:I think it's pretty silly. But I kind of like it. I kind of like the logo. I kind of like the uniforms. I'm here for all this stuff. You know what I also really like, Kevin, that Heinz, did you see what they did with the draft? Mr. 57. Mr. 57. What a fun idea. Yeah, I agree. Yeah, that's so random. And so if you didn't see it, the NFL draft was this week. I didn't really watch much of it, but Heinz famously has 57 flavors or they had 57 flavors. 57 is kind of their number. and so they gave the 57th pick in the NFL draft, Logan Jones, a lifetime supply of Heinz ketchup. Remarkably, he went to the Chicago Bears, which is not a big ketchup city.
31:12Kevin:If you put ketchup on a hot dog there, you're not valid. They also put crazy shit on fucking hot dogs there. Their hot dogs are way better than New York hot dogs. They're trash. Trash hot dogs in Chicago. Chicago's got the best hot dogs. I'm going to let you finish, but Chicago's got the best hot dogs. No, no way. pizza's trash hot dogs trash chicago great city listen i i love the people of chicago it's a great it's yeah it's a great restaurants great food well yeah your dogs are trash and your pizza all right well whatever uh the number 57 pick this year was uh logan jones from uh yeah from iowa i guess yeah and uh you know what he said what he said let's go catch up wow he gets a he gets a lifetime supply of ketchup being the 57 pick in the draft i mean not a lot of hoopla but you know now i just like yeah i just like that they own the number and that's like their thing which i think is like it's super random but like kind of sick and like they gave him a red jacket did you see that that's cool kind of cool like the green jacket for the masters yeah i mean is he gonna wear it ever probably not but i still think it's a cool tradition i mean i guess maybe put in a frame that that's cool yeah whatever he's not does he get like a partnership i mean he gets a lifetime survive catch i'm sure i'm sure does he also get a brand deal i feel like you should get a brand i'm sure i'll probably get a brand like it'll be mr 57 for a minute for the for the rest of his life man that's an honor um speaking of owner owning a number purdue launches six seven chicken nuggets which let's go um uh so these are uh chicken nuggets uh for babies as we've uh established on the program six sevens for adults and so now six Six sevens for intellectuals.
32:47Six seven bit is for the Gen Alpha kids. And they're about six to seven months too late in my sort of - Oh, that's a good one. In my opinion. But yeah, they're chicken nuggets shaped in sixes and sevens. Let's go.
33:02Kevin:Like, this is so sick. They're going to sell a lot of these. I mean, they probably already did, dude. I think this has come and went. They only made like 3 ,000 of them, I believe. No, then they're going to need to make a lot more of those. a Walmart you know how many you know how many moms are shopping Walmart going through those sort of frozen sort of shelves and seeing a Purdue chicken nuggets six seven and they're just like oh my god my kids are gonna die six seven yeah this is gonna be amazing also shout out to Purdue because six seven is owned by no one so you just gotta take it yeah you can't own numbers six seven will always be funny yeah I like that there's hands on the packaging yeah so you get the chicken nuggets and then you get the hands on the front this is this is brilliant this is a really smart idea again a little late but i think i don't know this is a six sevens an idea and a concept that transcends culture language age yeah it's something we can all do you know yeah but it's deeply 2025 though it feels like you know this was now six sevens forever six seven is six sevens forever okay well kevin i'll have to get you some chicken nuggets when i go to the store for you you know Six, seven forever, dude.
34:07Kevin:Yeah. Speaking of limited edition packaging, Bud Light and Post Malone, who I feel like they've done lots of stuff over the years. They teamed up. They've been together for 10 years. What? Yeah. That's crazy. Speaking of Justin Bieber, remember Post Malone used to open up for Justin Bieber? Wow. Crazy story. I saw Post Malone open up for Justin Bieber. You know what? Back in the day, like 10 years ago. Wyatt Iverson? Yeah, well, he did Wyatt Iverson. This was the Wyatt Iverson era. Wow. White Iverson. Packaging features a kind of like sort of southern country belt buckle design, I guess I'd describe it.
34:45At the top, it says Posty Co. And instead of the sort of like the traditional sort of stars and stripes and things at the top of a Budweiser, they kind of have replaced those things with Posty Co chain and metal.
35:04Kevin:Yeah, it looks cool. I think it looks cool. Did you say that these were small beers? Yeah, they're mini cans, which I don't really know why they did that. How did they decide to go with the mini can versus the main can? I don't know why. I also thought that a lot of times Bud Light and Budweiser, they're famous for their summer like limit edition cans. And I felt like maybe this could have been big enough for a national release and maybe they could have done some sort of posty inspired packaging for the masses. But this feels like kind of just a small mini can run. He headlined Stage Coach, which is the country version of Coachella that happens the weekend after the second weekend of Coachella in the same venue.
35:47So he was the headliner there. So they did this for that.
35:51Kevin:Well, Post Malone says that to celebrate them working together for 10 years, they had to do something small. And he claims that these small beers stay colder for longer, which maybe that's just physics. I don't know. I'm not a scientist. If somebody could verify that for me, that'd be great. Yeah. They stay cold longer for you and your buddies. That can't be true. I think you just drink them quicker because they're smaller. That's science. You don't get the warm-ish. That's thermodynamics. I guess so. Shout out to Post Malone. But yeah, whatever you say. Smallest beer in the West. Working on this collab for a while.
36:25Can't wait to see y 'all drinking the beers and rocking the merch at Stagecoast and across the country.
36:30Kevin:Yeah. How much do you think a small beer goes for a Stagecoast? at least$10 to$15. That's my guess, at least. It's beerflation, dude. Yeah, no. The price is at Coachella. This is masqueraded beerflation. I think the design, though, as a design podcast, I think it's nice. For sure, yeah. I think it's cool. It's a good looking can. Yeah, and it looks cool. I think it'd be cool to drink in the summertime. Speaking of cool things. Oh, yeah. You want to be seen rocking. Yeah. Do you see AI or Allbirds pivoted to AI? Yeah, I think this is brilliant. Yeah, this is exactly... And they rebranded to New Bird AI.
37:04Is that true? I didn't know that you have a new name. Yeah, new name.
37:06Kevin:So why not use the Allbirds name, I guess? Why then even? It doesn't make any sense to me. Why would they? Because I don't know. I think it probably has something to do with the stock options of it all. Okay. So basically, they announced that they were going to be moving into AI. Yeah. And what they're doing is unclear to me. I'm not at that level of tech. I'm not sure. But New Bird. I read a headline that says struggling shoe retailer Allbirds makes bizarre pivot to AI, adds 127 million in value. So - I mean, literally, it's just like the - Job done. It's like, yeah, you want to raise money, just say AI to an investor and they'll write you a check.
37:46So that's literally what they did. They were just like, oh, no one wants sneakers anymore. AI? Question mark? And they're just like, okay, cool.
37:52Kevin:Hey, I'm going to need some more money. Am I right? Yeah. Yeah, the long-term vision is to become a fully integrated GPU as a service, GPU-ass, and AI-native cloud solutions provider. Over time, the company intends to grow its NeoCloud platform by expanding its compute and service offerings, deepening partnerships with operators and consumers, and evaluating strategic M &A opportunities. Oh, yeah, duh. Okay. Honestly, that's great. Yeah. It seems - That's exactly what I would do. Listen, here's my take. It's the most San Francisco thing you could ever do. It's like in 2026, we're pivoting to AI.
38:28Yeah.
38:28Kevin:The whole city's going AI. Yeah. They're calling it the AI housing boom or whatever. Yeah, yeah. People are getting paid like stupid money. Yeah. And yeah. Sure. It's whatever you say. Yeah. I guess it works since they increase their stock value so much. You know what I'm going to say? I'm pretty proud that a pair of Allbirds have never been on my feet. Yeah. Never once and never will be. And so I wish them all the best with their sort of future endeavors over there at Allbirds. and shout out to them way to increase your stock value way to do it shareholder value baby one last story before we go did you see the ice man promotion for drake new album uh i kind of liked it the big blocks yeah it was cool looks cool they're all also looks like he's doing a little bit of a ice uh sort of design thing with the colors which famously centered it a couple years ago so we love it are we uh we set rounds around here is drake back is he like us again drake Drake has never left as far as I am concerned.
39:22I don't care where he is. He's not like us. No one's ever listened to Kendrick Lamar and enjoyed it. He's not like us, dude. Drake was always the guy. He's the boy. The boy is back. Release date, May 15. All I'll take will be one summer banger, and Drake will be all the way back.
39:36Kevin:I'm sure that's all this album will have is one summer banger. You know what? Yeah, just a lot of shots on that. I'm not even being a Drake hater. Yeah, I'm very excited about Iceman, and I'm excited to see. I'll give it a listen. And I thought the promotion was cool, just a bunch of ice bricks in Toronto, and yeah crowds complex went crazy yeah complex did go crazy i feel like they were like iceman watch they were like yeah they were like yeah people on the scene 24-hour coverage like who's gonna find it and it was a streamer by the name of uh oh it was in the ice yeah oh the album was in the ice no the release date was in the ice and so i think it was like a album or is the release date and like a bag of cash and then there was some other there was some other youtuber who put some car keys there.
40:21Kevin:Somebody got a car. Wow. That's strange. I didn't know any of that. But good to know. I did really like the seats iced out at the Toronto Raptors game. Pretty good. Where they made those iced out seats that looked like they were frozen in sort of a really cool way. I loved it. Shout out to Drake, I guess. Yeah, May 15th will be here before you know it. Song in the Summer Watch is on that album. That's my prediction. That's the call. Kevin, it's good to be back. And I'm excited for the future. We got a lot. Big guests, big things happening, partnerships. It's all up from here, dude. Yeah. Sure.
40:54Kevin:Yeah. Cool. All right.
