0:02Alex:Yo, this is only audio, right? What do you mean? Like, no one's going to be seeing any video from this show.

0:08Kevin:I mean, clips, maybe. Really? I don't know if they're good. Why?

0:12Alex:Okay, that's fine. No, it's fine. I was like, just thinking about how I look.

0:16Kevin:Why aren't you looks maxing?

0:17Alex:Should we start the show? Uh, sure. Are you ready to podcast?

0:21Kevin:Yeah, I'm ready to podcast.

0:22Alex:I got low energy.

0:24Kevin:My quarter's all spiking.

0:25Alex:Is that good or bad?

0:26Kevin:It's not optimal for podcast performance.

0:35Alex:three two one kevin

0:40Alex:what's up my mom said i didn't do a kevin on the last episode the one with chad hogan

0:48Kevin:yeah and she didn't know if you were there because i didn't give you your intro i i guess i always do that is that is that i thought there were times where i didn't do it or i didn't always

0:59Alex:do the big Kevin at the beginning, but I guess I think you've always done it.

1:03Kevin:I think you skip it sometimes. I don't have a take on that.

1:07Alex:I was there. You edit the show. You think I do it 95 %

1:14Kevin:of the time? No, I know you do it all the time.

1:18Alex:Welcome to the show. I'm sure you miss it

1:21Kevin:every once in a while when we have a guest on. But that's okay.

1:25Alex:What kind of chalet are you in right now?

1:27Kevin:I'm in my friend's studio apartment in San Francisco.

1:32Alex:Okay. Is that a leather couch? Maybe. It's beautiful. It looks also some nice wood happening behind you, Kevin. It's looking luxe.

1:43Kevin:Yeah. He's got a nice apartment. I'm very happy to be staying here. Yeah.

1:48Alex:What brings you to San Francisco, one of the worst cities in America?

1:51Kevin:I don't know. It's been pretty fire, to be honest. It's like 65, sunny. Smells like flowers when you walk outside. The parks are awesome. Had a sick burrito last night.

2:02Alex:Wow. Tell me about this burrito. What kind of burrito?

2:04Kevin:Just a regular carne asada. Nothing special.

2:07Alex:Nothing special. Just run the ball?

2:08Kevin:Yeah, just run the ball. Play the hits. Play the hits. Took a Waymo last night. Took a Waymo. Really?

2:14Alex:Talk to us. Talk to us. Give us a Waymo review.

2:18Kevin:So we took a Waymo to a wine bar. Get a load of this. Wine bar closed at 9 p.m. on a Thursday. Wow. We got a bottle of wine and then they were like, yeah, you can put the cork back in if you don't finish it. And we're like, what? They're like, yeah, we closed at nine. I was like, what the fuck? What time did you get there? We got there probably like 8.30. Wow.

2:38Alex:Oh, okay.

2:38Kevin:Yeah, so we had to cork that shit. But we took a Waymo out there. In my honest review, we took a Waymo and we took a traditional Uber. The Waymo was way better. Wow. Such a better driver. Really? Yeah. Wow. The guy who drove us home was just like awful.

2:53Alex:Can you drink in a Waymo? Oh, is that something that's allowed? Probably not, right? Or is that where the law's there?

2:59Kevin:Probably not. I guess if you wanted to, you probably could. I mean, who's going to call you out?

3:04Alex:I mean, that is one of the things about it being – I hate when an Uber driver gets mad about me eating a bacon, egg, and cheese in the backseat, which I mean, to be honest, I understand. It's kind of gross. But sometimes they do get big mad about that here in New York City.

3:19Kevin:Yeah, I'm not super stoked when people eat in my car either because – Exactly. Is it going to get shit and crumbs everywhere? Probably just going to leave the rapper back there like some savage. I don't know. I get it. Yeah. So the Waymo, though, was a good driver, didn't you? Sorry. The Waymo was incredibly smooth. So shout out to that clanker. I'm kind of bought in.

3:44Alex:You're pro car driving clanker. I mean. This is off-brand for you, though.

3:49Kevin:In this one thing, I'm surprised to be so pro-flanker.

3:55Alex:Well, I'm excited that you got that experience again, living in the future in San Fran, Silicon Valley. Yeah, I have not had that experience yet of being in a Waymo. I would like to.

4:06Kevin:I mean, it was pretty good. I'm alive to tell the story.

4:10Alex:What kind of cars did they drive?

4:12Kevin:Jaguars. They're all Jaguars. We know. Yeah. No way. Yeah. Okay.

4:16Alex:That's one way to get people to fucking - Not the new logo, though. yeah yeah yeah that was just for some that was just for people to talk about it i guess yeah

4:23Kevin:you know but there's so many like there's a lot of self-driving cars out here and they just look goofy you know they got like a bunch of shit on top and yeah i don't know it's unsightly but

4:32Alex:good drivers yeah wow yeah well i'm glad that we um thank you for giving us our first waymo review around the pod and yeah kevin i didn't i didn't see you you know goes to san francisco for what 24 48 hours and you're already pro clanker they've really you really changed bro oh it's the

4:48Kevin:you know, Silicon Valley, baby catching the fever.

4:52Alex:Did you see that Mark Zuckerberg got like a fucking$30 billion place in Miami? I, I kind of am here for it because the whole thing about Zuck has always been so funny to me that like, he like lives in a normal house and he wears normal clothes. And even though he's one of the richest people on planet earth, like he has seemingly not spent his money like a gaudy rich person. Yeah. But now he's, now he's turned, he's going full rich guy dick wow well yeah you know here's a pro mark i'm in sf so i went in

5:23Kevin:rome here's a pro mark zuckerberg thing he's got a yeah he's got a hospital named after him here

5:28Alex:really yeah the mark zuckerberg hospital he probably funded it yeah i think for the last like 15 20 years he's been doing positive things for people not not the products that he makes some some but yeah but i just always thought it was it was interesting that he lived in sort of this like regular sort of normal like unpretentious lifestyle uh and and had a regular degular home but no more the house that he got is fucking on like billionaires row in miami and it's disgusting but you kind of love to see it you know it's like i guess if you're gonna be one of the richest people on the planet earth like you should have a house better than drake's sure yeah but i guess what is better like a lot of gold and a lot of marble and a lot of staircases and a lot of

6:15Kevin:chandeliers i guess what i guess what would be better if is uh you know if like there's a little more money circulating i think that would be better yeah you know but check out the zuckerberg

6:25Alex:miami mansion when you get a second 170 million dollars is the price tag and uh looks pretty fucking ridiculous yeah it's uh it's quite a feat of uh architecture here and uh yeah it just doesn't feel like zuck but this is the new zuck that's the the old zuck is dead you know this is the new this is the new Zuck, the guy that wears chains. I even saw he was at another fashion show. Did you see that? He was sitting in front row at Fashion Week. I did not see that. Yeah, I mean, listen. The man is trying to show his human side and his taste. Mark Zuckerberg's taste. Which, again, the first thing I would have done as a billionaire would have hired a stylist.

7:10Alex:I would have the sickest shit. That's just me. Yeah. So how long are you out there?

7:17Kevin:I think I leave Tuesday. I don't have a flight yet.

7:21Alex:You're just living the vagabond lifestyle out there. Yeah, just crashing. Dude, and how many days have you skied? I know you have some here in the update here.

7:29Kevin:Yeah, I just came from Whistler. Just staying out west. Going to Tahoe this weekend. I skied 11 days out at Whistler. It was awesome. We got three feet of snow the first two days.

7:39Alex:11 days? Yeah. Is your body just wrecked?

7:43Kevin:No.

7:43Alex:impressive stuff i did two days and i was i was i i still have a fucking scab on my ankle

7:49Kevin:yeah fucking a wound i've been training for it so it's pretty good went hard every day how's the pow pow it was sick it was really sick yeah all time yeah i need to stop watching uh

8:03Alex:snowboarding videos on instagram and tiktok because it's my entire feed ever since i went on that trip like it's just a nauseating amount of videos and i think they're trying to sell me a new snowboard or something. I was looking into some of those Burton new bindings that you just step into for the snowboards. And I just think as soon as I started, I'm not going to do it, but as soon as I started looking at those, like looking on their website, I've just been fed, man, content after content. People just sending it off of giant jumps

8:32Kevin:and just all sorts of people skiing. Well, it's sick.

8:37Alex:It is sick, but I'm tired. I get it. It's cool. I just want, I need to retrain my algorithm. I don't know. I'm not, I've seen enough.

8:48Kevin:You're using the Meta Glasses. I am using the Meta Glasses. Another thing I'm coming around on, I wasn't 100 % sure I'd be into them, but they were pretty good. I can only really use them on like a sunny day. Okay. Because, yeah, I mean, they're sunglasses. yeah visibility wise uh they don't they're not super conducive to uh you know any sort of precipitation or low vis so the high vis days have been awesome yeah yeah and sick i'm glad to hear it and i've been getting footy you know i've been sending it off some cornices yeah i mean the

9:23Alex:vanguards the vanguards look cool as hell and i always struggle with uh goggles when i snowboard like i want to see the snow and so it's like sometimes i struggle with those uh visibility yeah especially on days where it's not super sunny and you're just like if you're still rocking

9:37Kevin:your like old gear um the goggles have come a long way since yours have my dude my gear is from

9:44Alex:15 years ago literally my boots my fucking board everything is your goggles are probably dry rotted dude i literally just when i put them on my face like just peeled off all the sort of like soft protection it was just like came off immediately but the truth is with goggles like I typically just wear them on my helmet. What?

10:04Kevin:They just sit on my helmet. You know what I mean? They're more for show than they are for actual function. That's a Jerry move, bro.

10:11Alex:I don't have good equipment. That's why I was looking into some Burton stuff. But, dude, it's fucking expensive. Don't get the Burton stuff. Don't get the Burton stuff. I've been seeing some discourse online about the Burton stuff, and it's not good. It doesn't look good. I think that idea of clipping immediately and not having to sort of strap in, it's like they've been trying to do that for fucking 20 years. And to be honest, I feel like I don't know.

10:31Kevin:Also, people have been talking trash about their boots.

10:35Alex:Yeah.

10:35Kevin:But that's neither here nor there. Well, who cares? This isn't design related. And it's not ski related.

10:41Alex:These people don't care. Yeah. Let's talk about stuff that's really design related, like clavicular. Yeah. Clavicular. I can't even say. Clavicular. We're so late on this topic, dude. This is like, you know, we're fucking late.

10:53Kevin:I want to let you know that I was early on it. when I was in New York, I was putting everybody in the studio on. And then during my week off,

11:05Alex:as it goes,

11:06Kevin:it exploded. He's getting profiled in the New York Times. He's in New York Fashion Week. He's on the Adam Friedland show. He's everywhere. Yeah.

11:14Alex:Yeah, he is everywhere. He's frame-mogging everybody. And it's just too late.

11:20Kevin:We can't do it.

11:21Alex:We can't even talk about this. It should have been an emergency pod weeks ago, But unfortunately, it really should have been an emergency pod.

11:28Kevin:I think, I think we dropped the ball on that. I mean, I think we should still talk about a little bit. Like it is important. Looks maxing.

11:33Alex:Yeah.

11:34Kevin:I mean, are you looks maxing Alex?

11:36Alex:Yeah, of course. Absolutely. Yeah.

11:38Kevin:I mean, I'm, I'm looks maxing by, by lean maxing.

11:41Alex:Not eating.

11:42Kevin:No, I'm just eating well. Yeah. And I'm working out like crazy on these slopes, dude. When I'm ski maxing. Cause I'm a ski cell.

11:48Alex:This guy is, he's old news. I think that's the thing for me.

11:52Kevin:It's like, I don't think he's, I don't think he's old news. I think he's done.

11:57Alex:He had a good run. It was the month of February.

11:59Kevin:Yeah, I don't think you understand the gravity of Clavicular and his reach. I mean, we're just too late.

12:04Alex:It pains me to be late on such a topic. But what does this mean for graphic design? I don't know. I mean, looks maxing. I think we should have been at Expo West sort of CPG maxing and sort of design mogging everybody. But you know what? But the thing that we should talk about is the McDonald's CEO getting burger mogged by the Burger King CEO. It's funny. This story has intrigued me since the first time I watched that video. So I've been watching this McDonald's CEO for a minute because this guy is just a bizarre looking guy.

12:39Kevin:Yeah, he's going crazy on reels, right?

12:41Alex:Yeah, he's been going crazy on reels. And he's been showing like, you know, he's he did a review a couple weeks ago where he's like reviewing all the sauces. And to be honest, it's kind of interesting for me because I'm like, we're putting this like older white guy. He's probably my age, but like he is just like he's just a super straight looking nerd. Right. Like it's just like total like business guy. And then we're putting him out here making content. He's got a name. His name is Chris Kripinski. Chris Kempinski. And so they've been, you know, I don't know whose idea it was to give this guy, to make this guy a TikTok star.

13:23Kevin:It was Gemini.

13:24Alex:Who's Gemini?

13:25Kevin:Google Gemini. I think he asked Gemini how to, I read something about him like talking to Google Gemini about how to promote the big arch.

13:33Alex:I mean, but he's been making reels. Like they've put him into the content for McDonald's where they're just making content. And it's been hitting my feed because I've been seeing it. I was just like, man, this weird looking guy in a sort of very sterile looking office trying these eating these products and, you know, sort of treating them like they're sort of specimens in a lab. Right. They're not like food. And, you know, he's pretending like he likes to eat McDonald's, which it's very clear that he doesn't. McDonald's. I think every single one of these videos that I've seen, it's kind of like he's very tentative.

14:10Alex:He'll put very little sauce on things. He has this new big arch, right?

14:16Kevin:Maybe he looks maxing, Alex. Maybe he doesn't have the - I believe it. Maybe he's in a calorie deficit and he's trying to get lean. I believe it. He looks like a skinny guy.

14:27Alex:He's not a guy that's eating McDonald's three times a day, like clearly so and that's okay but to go on camera and start pumping out tiktoks talking about you or just you know uh showing your love for the brand and the and and the um you know the delicious offerings that mcdonald's has you you gotta know that people are gonna start asking the questions and you gotta at least pretend like you like it i guess so he's he's view maxing like he

14:55Kevin:is like he's getting the he's getting eyeballs like it's going to your feed it's going to my feed like it's everywhere now yeah like it's not like yeah no i mean you know it's working it is working because it's like you know getting people around i just don't know that this was intentionally

15:08Alex:what he wanted to do or it's hard to say is this a strategic move by mcdonald's to be like hey we're

15:13Kevin:gonna put our ceo this kind of business guy into our to be the face of our business right now and

15:20Alex:i i can't imagine that that was their thinking or their their intention but here he is and it all comes to a head when he tries the big arch, which is the new McDonald's sandwich. I tried it when I was overseas. Uh, I think we talked about on the show, maybe I think I talked about, I talked about how I was in Lithuania and I had, you know, I don't eat McDonald's a ton, but when I'm traveling and I've been doing this thing where I'll, I'll Uber eats to my hotel room, if it's, you know, in, in, in sort of, uh, you know, in, in desperate times in, you know, international mode and that I, I got the big arch and I was like, Oh, I'd heard a little bit about this on the front and Center podcast.

15:57Alex:And it was fucking delicious, dude. Really good. Way better than the Big Mac that I've had in recent years, which I feel like the quality of Big Mac's been going down. And this was a real... It felt like a real burger. It had burger qualities. I feel like some of the McDonald's burgers these days, they kind of taste like products. Yeah.

16:19Kevin:That's fair. Here's my take on the whole matter. They say, don't trust a skinny chef. I think this principle applies to fast food CEOs as well.

16:27Alex:Yeah. Don't trust a man with a sweater and a collar neck shirt underneath it. Like that weighs 70 pounds soaking wet. Yeah. That's what I'm getting at. Yeah.

16:36Kevin:I think you're probably right. You know, respectfully, I want to see a McDonald's CEO who's eating McDonald's every day, dude.

16:45Alex:Yeah. It's funny. I watched this video when he first posted it.

16:49Kevin:I don't want to say I was like, you know, first on the scene. And look at you. Are you talking about the big arch? Everyone's talking about the big arch now.

16:56Alex:I just thought it was the smallest bite I've ever seen. That man took the sort of wimpiest bite of this thing. It was like, I love this burger. And it was just like, dude, you didn't even get anything. You got a half a bite of a bun, which does kind of look good because it's got poppy seeds and sesame seeds, which, again, this podcast is brought to you by McDonald's. promo code front center for 15 % off of your Uber Eats order. This, so I saw that and I was like, man, this is, you got to reshoot it. You just got to be like, all right, great, great, you know, cool. Great job, Chris. Let's do it one more time.

17:34Alex:That bite was, we need to look like we're really taking a bite out of this thing. Like we got to, we got to look like we're enjoying it a little bit more or you're going to get flamed.

17:42Kevin:Like instantly, whoever's filming that has got to say that unless they're bait, they're

17:49Alex:bait maxing.

17:49Kevin:yeah they're baiting us what's uh it's classic it's a classic move listen i i think you you know i don't know my third eye here says this is um i don't think this is a setup if it was brilliant

18:03Alex:but if it just doesn't read as a setup to me but what happened is boom burger king guy comes in he fucking burger mogs this fuck out of this uh the ceo and he's like i'm gonna take the biggest bite you've ever seen and i love my burgers burger king which um i know i've been on the record on the show many times burking is disgusting burger is way better than donald's no yeah not even yeah burking is frame fucking flame broiled baby gross gross dude i had a whopper so bad yeah you ate

18:35Kevin:that you ate you had that at the you had that at the bruce springsteen rest stop in jersey what do you expect you're right I did the onion rings are disgusting there's no passion at the Bruce Springsteen rest area in Jersey

18:49Alex:you gotta go to a stand alone

18:51Kevin:BK

18:53Alex:yeah well I kinda wanna go to McDonald's and get a big arch maybe I might get one tonight

18:58Kevin:that'd be crazy

19:02Alex:just to fucking burger mog the fuck out of this guy but yeah I mean then you know then the other the wendy's ceos involved and then you get the other ceos yeah i mean it's it's it's quite a thing that's happening and just getting exposed to all these fucking white ceos like you know all these men like we hire us you know is there is there a female uh ceo of any uh chain out here it doesn't seem so we don't we don't have any of those apparently yeah so i think we're we're we're shining a light on all of uh you know some some some dark and twisted shit here happening.

19:38Kevin:Yeah, but you like Wendy's, right?

19:41Alex:I love Wendy's, Kevin. You know I do. I love Wendy's. It's my favorite.

19:48Kevin:Yeah, that guy. It's so good. I just love Wendy's. I miss Dave.

19:55Alex:I do miss Dave. Yeah, RIP, man. He would never even get involved with this kind of shit. He was he's a we go high, they go low kind of guy. Let the burger do the talking. Let the burger fucking do the talking is right, Kevin. Exactly. This is some new bullshit. But I did like the tweet that McDonald's put out and said, try our new product, which I do think that was good marketing. That's what you got to do. You got to make fun of yourself. There you go. It's a time-honored tradition. When people are coming after you, just take it on the chin and sort of make fun of yourself and boom and then watch the legs come in.

20:37Alex:Watch the legs come in and they did it. Yeah. Yeah it is funny for the CEO to openly on camera call the big arch a product. Our new product.

20:48Kevin:I mean listen it's a product. He's thinking about the skews.

20:52Alex:Yeah he was like yo this is a great skew and you're going to love this product and go on down to your McDonald's and try it out. The big arch.

20:59Kevin:God forbid the businessman do business, Alex.

21:02Alex:Yeah, with the arch sauce.

21:04Kevin:Yeah.

21:04Alex:Yeah. Well, I'm here for this beef, and I think that story is a good one. I enjoyed it, and I'm happy that the white male CEOs of America are now finally sort of in the limelight.

21:18Kevin:Finally.

21:20Alex:Moving on, we got to talk about Snapple because Snapple is back. my fucking one of my favorite brands one of my fucking all-time uh loves is is snapple uh long island representing and the last five to ten years for the brand have been absolute garbage we've talked about it i think we did yeah we covered we covered the the rebrand before this one the the uh yeah the blind put the clip in here just gonna yeah it looks like a condom brand right It looks like Durex, right? Yeah, yeah.

21:53Kevin:Isn't that the connection?

21:54Alex:Yeah. And it looks so fucking fake. It looks like somehow the ingredients looked like they were AI long before AI was even making fucking ingredients on packaging. It's just so bad. And we've been saying for years, and I've been saying here, like, of all the brands out there, let me at it. That's one of the ones that really just – people, you know, sometimes I get asked that question. like yo if there's a brand that you wish you could get get your hands on like snapple is definitely hot was always high on that list because it's so fucked they got rid of the glass bottle the iconic glass bottle they got that plastic logo with the directs uh sort of uh sort of word mark on it it's a fucking nightmare yeah it was a mess and so finally one small step for man snap back to reality and uh here we are we we brought back the serifs you know oftentimes when

22:49Kevin:who look at these like logo lineups of you know the logos throughout the years you know i think there are a lot of times where like oh wow that 1973 one that's the most fire and i feel like in this case um they picked the one that was the best and then they this is just a master class on refining like a an old mark bringing it to the modern age how'd you like that design speak

23:14Alex:wow kevin you really you really broke it down you really fucking your your your graphic design critic. I know. I mean, I just saw it. I saw it. I agree with you, Kevin. This is one of the classic instances where your logo at the beginning was the right one, and you've been slowly fucking it up, fucking it up, fucking it up, and so it was only right. 40 years later, go back. Go back to right where you came from. And so I'm happy to see it. I was delighted to see that they, you know, the serifs and the shape and everything, it's still not as good as the original one i'm looking at it sort of a comparison before you know from the 1987 one from the to the 2026 one like the original one is better than what the new one is so i don't understand why you just went back to that but i guess like you know this is rebranding this is like i wonder how much longer people give a shit about this like people going back and just like picking out their old logos and putting it putting it back out into the world Like it just doesn't really feel that impressive, but here they are.

24:17Alex:They did it. It's one small step and we're here for it. You know, that's it's, it's not exactly a nostalgia play, but it's just like, it's just like the right logo for the brand. Like remember Pepsi was running around with that fucking weird logo for like 30, 20 years. And they just were like, Hey, everyone knows the logo as the old logo. Just go back to that.

24:37Kevin:Yeah.

24:38Alex:And they did. And everyone was like, wow, what genius is same thing here.

24:41Kevin:just classic just go back yeah good job back to the good logo how's that for design criticism

24:49Alex:that's good it was done by deutsch design which i'm not familiar with they did the dr pepper uh i think they did the dr pepper super bowl commercial oh well they're big they're big with uh keurig dr pepper that's right keurig dr pepper owns snapple so this is all in the family and uh yeah good good good on them deutsch design yeah shout out to them shout shout them shout them out because you know what they they they got something they got something here let's see where's deutsch design from la la all right well good you know what they got their hands on the brand and i'm sure they um i'm sure this wasn't easy i'm sure it wasn't easy to get them to to to find their home.

25:34Kevin:For sure.

25:34Alex:I bet they did what they could. Speaking of updates, we got an update by the brand Update. And it is now a brand that is co-founded by Kim Kardashian. Kim Kardashian, very famous Kardashian from the famous Kardashians.

25:50Kevin:You're telling me this was a brand before? Before this rebrand? Oh.

25:55Alex:Yes. Wow. This has been a brand for a long time. Wow. Four or five years. New update for update, huh?

26:03Kevin:Yeah. Good stuff.

26:04Alex:They've been like a clean energy purveyor, you know, sort of a brand that's about trying to get you to sort of get into that flow state. That sort of, you know, kind of a cut through the chaos.

26:16Kevin:Yeah. Non-caffeinated energy drink.

26:19Alex:A non-caffeinated energy drink, which, yeah. What the hell does that mean?

26:24Kevin:What does that do? It's got some other stuff in it. It's got some other stuff in it.

26:29Alex:But it used to have this kind of like very techie looking logo. If you remember, it had like a E that had like three lines and some and yeah, you that looked like a V kind of thing.

26:39Kevin:It was it was cool because it had metallic.

26:41Alex:But the typography of it all, it was cool. The original version was cool because it had a metallic vibe to it. So it felt very futuristic. But the typography was quite rough. They were trying to look future. And as we all know here, the least the the the quickest way to not look futuristic is to use futuristic typography. For sure. Yeah.

27:04Kevin:One wise Jeff Carter said that. That's exactly what Jeff Carter said.

27:08Alex:Yeah. And so that's what they were doing. And then they I guess Kim Kardashian. It's funny. I've seen Kim post the brand on like her socials or maybe it was on the show. Keeping up with the Kardashians available on Hulu. And so I was like, huh, I wonder if she's an investor or someone involved with the brand. And then boom, she's now the co-founder. And the brand got a rebrand from Dayjob. And it's sort of, yeah, it's like a bit of a hybrid. It's like, what if you took Skims and the old update and kind of put them together? So it kind of maintains its metallicness, but it got a little bit more class.

27:51Alex:And then the typography was always kind of like minimalist and bold, but now it's like less futuristic, a little bit more fashion.

27:59Kevin:Yeah. I'm going to let you finish, but this is a better facelift than Kris Jenner just had. Woo. Bars. And Kris Jenner looks exactly like Kim Kardashian now. So a pretty good facelift.

28:12Alex:I mean, listen.

28:13Kevin:I'm into it. Shout out Dayjob. Shout out Ryan. Yeah. You know, they're doing good work over there. Fire.

28:18Alex:The white whale of the podcast. Yeah. I know. out here you know get them on the come on the pod and ryan you know we've been we've only been talking about this for what uh three years um yeah speaking of day job uh expo west you know it's funny i didn't really see a lot of stuff coming out of expo west that like traditionally it's like a news breaking place for us and for the industry and new shit that people uh you know gets get to people talking and i didn't really see anything until i saw this truck uh get driven that drive by that sort of said uh david on a thing of ice cream black packaging where ice cream comes from and it's a giant juiced up cow which that's awesome kevin that's me i'm the cow like this you are that cow and uh yeah it's got the macros 30 grams of protein 260 calories two grams of sugar uh cookie dough ice cream from david cookies and cream what do you think cookies and

29:07Kevin:cream um i mean i love ice cream you know i'd give it a go for sure dude there's a you know As it looks, Max, or myself, trying to get lean this summer, I might have to give it a go. And I think it really makes sense with just the current state of Instagram recipes and people making the ninja creamy protein ice cream shit. It makes a lot of sense.

29:32Alex:Yeah, I think it's a natural line extension. I guess I didn't see them really sort of expanding quite as quickly here as they have. But listen, you know, I think they're trying to make that move from bar brand to protein sort of portfolio. And it is a natural extension. And, you know, they're trying to get those numbers up and trying to get that big acquisition quickly here. It seems like it feels like they're not trying to do this the long way. They're trying to do this the quick way. a quick way and that involves taking on different shelves quickly. So we'll see. We'll see how it works out for them.

30:13Kevin:Yeah. I mean, I don't think we talked about this.

30:15Alex:I still haven't had the bronze bar yet.

30:17Kevin:I've been looking around for it in the stores. I haven't seen it in person. Yeah. I did have a bear bell recently and it was pretty fire. I can't even lie. Fire, right? Yeah.

30:27Alex:It's a candy bar. I know. It is a candy bar.

30:30Kevin:And it was good. It made me happy. So shout out to whatever is in those bars. And the David Bronze Bar. Do you think that David ice cream is going to taste good? I bet it will. I bet it will, yeah. I mean, I'll give it a go. Let's say that. I'll put it on record that I will give this a go.

30:46Alex:Yeah, you love anal leakage. That's your thing. That's what you're – you love EPG, right?

30:53Kevin:I don't love that. That's your thing. That's your thing. I'm anti that. Oh, I thought you were a pro. I thought you were a pro in anal leakage. I like retaining the vitamins in my system. Do you know, listen, I'll hand up.

31:09Alex:I was a David Bardet guy for a minute. And to be honest, I was when I lost all the weight. So maybe, just maybe, maybe I need to get back into the game.

31:19Kevin:Yeah, maybe.

31:20Alex:Maybe that's what I'm missing is more protein.

31:22Kevin:Maybe. I mean, I would probably think that your other actions around that were making a bigger impact than one David Bardet. But I don't know. I don't know.

31:33Alex:I don't know. Hard to say.

31:35Kevin:Hard to say.

31:36Alex:Before we get out of here, Liquid Death, who has been doing a lot of weird shit lately, and I'm not sure how much I love it all, but they did a Spotify collaboration with an Eternal Playlist urn for$495. Finally, Death is a little less boring with the Eternal Playlist urn. Now the dead can listen to their favorite jams for all of Attorney. Only 150 of them. It's an urn-shaped speaker that has the Spotify and Liquid Death logos on it.

32:06Kevin:I think it's kind of cool. Yeah. I mean, just think about the legacy you want to leave. Like, you could be sitting on your Descendants mantle, and then you look over there, and you see the urn, and you activate it, and some sick song could play. Like, what's the first song on that playlist for you?

32:26Alex:How about a bit of Termas Wagon? Of course, you know? All right. That's fair. Social boy, tell them. Yeah, that's good. That's a good one. Yeah, of course. Oh, you know what we didn't talk about before we actually get out of here? Truff. Oof. Truff. Rebrand. Lost its sauce. Truff lost its sauce. That's the headline here? That is the headline. Yep. That's the Alex Center review. You know, I get what they're doing, of course. They're trying to make that move from indie, cool, fashion, brand, East Coast, West Coast sort of vibes to mainstream with this sort of classic marinara. You got to get those tomatoes on there.

33:05Alex:What was always so cool about the brand is you got the big fucking logo on the front. It's chic and it's elegant and elevated and you got that cool truffle shaped lid.

33:18Kevin:Truffle oil is so 2018. I think they need to find some more they need to do some product innovation.

33:25Alex:Yeah, I don't like truffle oil And I, to be honest, I've actually always hated the hot sauce.

33:28Kevin:It's a, it's a big ick for me. Like truffle oil fries. Nah, I'm all right. Yeah.

33:33Alex:Same. I'm the same. I'm the hundred percent the same way, especially truffle oil. My pasta. It's like, nah, gross. Get out of here. I will say though, you know, there, I always talk about this, about products that get me to buy it. Like the first day it comes out or like the first time I ever see it, like Graza had this and Truff had it. Like I was like, I need it by, you know, buy it immediately at the cart, send it, you know? So it's not an easy thing to achieve. And Truff had the sauce, but they lost it. And it's a shame. And I guess they're trying to make a move for big retail. And I guess this is what they got to do.

34:09Alex:But it makes me sad. Pour one out. Pour out some truffle oil for the boys over at Truff and whoever did that original packaging. Because that shit was beautiful. Yeah, it was beautiful. You hate to see.

34:20Kevin:Look what they massacred my boy. That's what you're trying to say. They massacred my boy. They massacred your boy.

34:26Alex:I mean, listen, I never knew that boy, but they have massacred him. R.I.P. F's in the chat. It's a sad day. Yeah, pour out some trough and F's in the chat for the trough. Original branding that was cool and chic and minimal. So you hate to see it. Kevin, before we get out of here, should we talk about Prickly? We got to talk about Prickly. Friends of the show. Friends of the program. Shout out Noah. Noah, a legend, a dancer, a designer, a day one listener, a day one homie of the show, a centerpiece if there ever was one. And yeah, he's been behind the brand Prickly, which is cactus water, right?

35:08Alex:That's the sort of initial offering. Optimal for hydration. Yeah, they always had this cactus on the front of the packaging. We've tried. The product is great, hydrating, delicious. And they rebranded. And it looks a lot better. I'm just going to say it. It looks tasty. It looks delicious. Which one of these do you think I should cop right now? What flavors do you have? You got the wild strawberry hibiscus. You got the tropical mango ginger. And you got the prickly pear. I think I've had the prickly pear, so I'm going to avoid that one.

35:37Kevin:Go for the hibiscus one.

35:39Alex:Yeah, that's what I was going to do. Wild strawberry hibiscus. I'm a sucker for a hibiscus drink. I also got this right off of your desk, unfrigerated.

35:51Kevin:so that's good that's really good hell yeah i was worried there might be too much hibiscus but too much hibiscus what are you talking about there's no such thing yeah i like it it's definitely

36:01Alex:got a more of a strawberry forward taste i really appreciate it it's it's you know what it it strikes a good balance where it's it's flavorful but not too sweet yeah that's what they're going

36:15Kevin:One of the big selling points is like, you know, coconut water's got an ass load of sugar in there. And they've got far less sugar, but still extremely hydrating like coconut water is.

36:27Alex:Yeah.

36:27Kevin:I mean, listen, I'm a prickly rider. I love prickly. You know, shout out to prickly. Yeah, they stepped it up. They stepped it up with this brand. Yep. I know they're at Expo West. Showing off the new design. Yeah. Would have been good to, you know, maybe hang out or whatever, but, you know, maybe next year. I think we say this every year. Maybe next year.

36:45Alex:Maybe next year. I will say shout out to Prickly for sort of taking us to task on our, if you send us free products, we will try it and talk about it on the show. So that deal is out there for anyone who wants to send this free shit. It's called free ads. And we're here to do them. But all you got to do is send us your free shit.

37:06Kevin:I do like that they cleaned up the packaging a little bit. That is nice. It feels a little bit more considered now. Yeah. It feels more modern. It feels fresh.

37:15Alex:feels flavor forward the colors are vibrant it's a little juicier it's definitely more definitely

37:19Kevin:like it's definitely gonna pop off shelf yeah they they juiced they juiced the colors and shout out to them for that they love that yeah they hit enhance and on on all those colors they're just like the Alex Center special yeah when you're in keynote and you just press that button that

37:35Alex:says enhance on a photograph absolutely or when you're in your like photo apps on your phone and you just hit that like magic button that just makes everything fucking brighter and more vibrant

37:44Kevin:that's that's what they did oh that reminds me alex one last thing before we get out of here uh you got to circle back to the meta glasses um so i guess with the meta so i've been i've been using them i i set them up at work one day uh i had to reluctantly update my ios to the liquid glass which i am here to say sucks i hate that ios it's draining my battery it's crazy let's give it here nor there um yeah but basically i turn off but i had yeah i mean i i don't know I'm not trying to do all that. Basically, what happened was you have to download the Meta AI app. And that's how you interface through the glasses and whatever.

38:23Kevin:And so about a week ago, I was just bored scrolling through the app, post-ski. And I found a section where it has all of the things that you've asked, the Meta glasses, like all the prompts that you've asked. So like, hey, Meta, what time is it? Like it has all of them like logged in type that you can just look at. And it's just not something I really wanted to look at because, you know, I'm wearing them hand up. I am gesturing a lot of the times, you know, I'm a, I'm a jester maxer for sure. You are. I jester max a lot. Yes, you are. And that's okay. It's okay. I'm, I'm hand up.

39:06Alex:I'm a jester, but you know, when I'm gesturing in these glasses,

39:10Kevin:And I'm saying like, and I'm quoting the Eric Andre line, okay, Google, show me this guy's balls. And that's like probably the number one prompt that I've asked. You know, it's, it just is what it is. I'm not sure I want these things to be recorded forever, but like there's no turning back. You know, maybe, maybe my sense of humor isn't meant to be captured via AI.

39:29Alex:Transcribed? Transcribed.

39:30Kevin:It was literally the first, it was literally the first thing I asked the metaglasses.

39:35Alex:Are you talking to it a lot? Is that something that you feel comfortable doing in public or?

39:40Kevin:I mean, it's pretty, it's cringe for sure, but I'm like, Hey, meta record. And then it's like, it does, or like, Hey, meta, take a picture. Cause I'm, you know, I got my gloves on. It's hard to navigate those buttons, you know, with a glove on.

39:53Alex:So I am. I think that's the next. Okay. That's the next frontier of AI computing. I think is we have to get over the cringe factor of talking to our devices because these fingers, as long as we need to type out all this shit into computers or phones, then we're kind of limited to how much innovation we can sort of create. But I have been seeing like, there's a ring that just came out. I don't know the name of it. It looks kind of cool, but it's like, it's basically like a ring, but it's got a little bit more and you can kind of talk to it and kind of ask it questions, give it some thoughts, be like, yo, write down this thought.

40:28Alex:I want to, you know, buy,

40:29Kevin:you know,

40:29Alex:Kevin a gift for whatever, you know, it's like it can give, you can kind of use it as a notepad versus me in my notes app, writing everything down. And so I'm just my not to end the show on a fucking heady note, but it's like, are people going to become comfortable talking to devices in public?

40:48Kevin:And I think we might get there. I think we will. I don't know. I mean, for me, it was still a little like I'm just like, God damn it. I sound like such an idiot right now. Yeah.

40:58Alex:But luckily. And if we're all doing it at coffee shops, it's going to get real weird.

41:01Kevin:But luckily, you know, I was able to I was able to keep my space from people. and you know my friends were my friends were kind of trolling me a little bit but that's fine you know heavy is the head that wears the meta glasses because those things yeah when you're wearing the

41:13Alex:vanguard yeah you're gonna get you're gonna get clowned maybe a little bit by your friends but

41:18Kevin:they're just jealous and maybe a little bit by strangers too but they're just jealous

41:22Alex:they're just jealous and they want those they want those sweet sweet glasses and they want to

41:26Kevin:they just want to talk to zuck you know can i call it zuck yeah can i just say do i have to

41:32Alex:call it meta or can I change it I can just say hey Zuck I'm not sure my videos I just I just respectfully say hey meta you know okay well that's cool I like that you talk to devices and

41:43Kevin:respect yeah also uh the other the other really sick thing about them the uh yes the speakers in them I was uh really when I was skiing by myself like the last two days of the trip and I was just hiking I was hiking the um you know I did a lot of the hike to terrain just by myself and I was just 15 minutes of just walking uphill. It was great to have a little music.

42:07Alex:Does it do the bone conductor thing? Is that how it works? That shit's crazy.

42:13Kevin:It is slightly louder than you think. I don't want to be blasted. I don't want to be a Bluetooth speaker guy. I kept it to mid-volume. Exactly middle. It worked out. It was great. I had a nice Well I'm happy to hear it I was

42:30Alex:I was There was a little part of me That was like Oh I think Kevin's gonna love these And then there was like A little part of me That was like I really hope he doesn't Sell these things on eBay Yeah I actually I got a

42:41Kevin:I got a couple things planned For when I get back to New York A little bike content Sick Yeah so

42:46Alex:Sick Yeah yeah Watch the space Yeah

42:48Kevin:Yeah keep an eye out

42:50Alex:Content Listen Let's expand the walls of The content Yeah

42:55Kevin:Absolutely Anything is possible Anything is possible That's a great intro. Well, that's the show, Kevin.

43:00Alex:Good to see you. Peace.
