00Yeah, we do a lot of cold opens around here, but we don't open that many cold ones. Dude, you're fucking a genius, bro. Sometimes I don't even catch your brilliance while we're recording, and I'll re-listen, and I'll be like, whoa. I'm awake. That went over my head, but Kevin, that guy's good. Yeah, it's very deep, and whatever.

32Ready? Three, two, one. Kevin. What's up? Peace out, bro. Yeah. Is that another skiing shirt? I mean, I don't have a ton. Yeah. I just, I got this one. When you came into the office today, fresh off the slopes, you did have a bit of a ski bum aesthetic, you know? Kind of like a guy that, you know the type that's like... I am the type, yeah. Been on the mountains and then comes to sort of, you know, find his way into the rest of the world. Is that a vibe you're going for? I don't know. It's just me. Yeah.

09It's just you. Well, the pod last week was great. I listened to it, and I was like, damn, this is like a good example of what our pod is. Yeah. Today, I can't promise that. I feel like we're probably the exact level of preparation as last week. Really? I don't know. I don't know. I felt like we came in hot last week, and I think this week, you know, dig deep. Well, I think we made it hot. I don't know. I don't think we came in that hot. Okay. Yeah. I don't know. It'll be fine. So it's up to us, man, is what you're saying. May I be the first person to wish you a happy birthday, Kevin? You're not.

41Some of my friends don't know. I took it off Facebook, so only the real ones know. Some people thought it was today, yeah. Wow. Some people thought it was last week. Well, the day the pod comes out, it's your birthday. So everyone listening right now, send Kevin a message on Instagram or whatever social media platform you prefer. Happy birthday. Thanks, guys. How old are you? 18. Wow. Legal. Yeah. Finally. Yeah, finally. Don't make me look up how old you are because I can and I will if I have to. I'm 29. I don't know. 29. Yeah. Wow, Kevin. Next year. Big one. I don't really care. No? Age ain't nothing but a number to me.

19I know. R. Kelly said that. What about my personal age? It's more of a reflective internal thing than it is an external standards thing. Yeah. Slow walk that one back. Yep. No, I say that all the time. Yeah. Listen, 29, Kevin. I remember when you were just a young whippersnapper, fresh, bushy-tailed. I know, five years ago. Just five years ago, guy in his mid-20s and now washed up. I know, washed up, bitter. Going to his 30s. Yeah, tired. Yeah. You know, jaded. Hater. Hater of all things. Yeah. I was tipping that hate rate last week. That was clear. Yeah. I was hating from outside of the club.

02Yeah, that's why that awareness book is doing you wonders this week. I mean, I've read maybe 20 more pages. Fuck yeah, dude. Hell yeah. Yeah, that's 20 more pages than I read this week. It's a good one. You should check it out. Dude, when you're done, pass it over. Yeah, I'll pass it. I'll pass it. I'll add it to my ever-growing stack of books on my table. It's a quick one. Yeah. Speaking of hating, your favorite thing to hate on, award shows. I think the Oscars is the last one. I think Grammys, Emmys. There's the Dye Line Awards. You're right. Now we're actually entering an award season for design, which you...

36Some say it's even bigger than the Oscars. Yeah, it's the Oscars of graphic design and packaging, for sure. I think the Dye Line Awards are now closed. But I could be wrong. If you haven't gotten your award submissions in, then you fucked up. Yeah, you need that big D. Yeah, you fucked up. The big D is coming for you, if you did. Maybe. I didn't see any of the Oscars. Okay. And not one second. I saw a snippet of, who was it, Al Pacino who presented? I saw a little snippet of that. Yep. And then I saw a picture of Robert Downey Jr. taking a selfie with the Oscar in his crotch. And it kind of looked like his member.

15Yeah. I have a question. When did Robert Downey Jr. get so fucking lame? That dude needs to, you know. Go back on drugs. Yeah. Yeah, he stopped doing drugs. And I guess he just like, you know, I think he became. Bro looks like Ellen DeGeneres in that picture. Yeah, he's got an interesting look. I don't know. Yeah, I don't think I ever thought he was particularly cool, but that's just me. But sure, he's, yeah, I guess he's now, yeah. I guess he's not Tony Stark in real life. Yeah, again, I don't really know what that means because I've never seen any Marvel movies. But, you know. You didn't see Iron Man?

49No. I guess you weren't 13 when that came out. Every time I tell you that I've never seen like 98 % of Marvel movies, you say like, you've never seen The Avengers? I'm like, no, that's the point. Well, I mean, I've tailed off. I haven't seen it. I don't think I've seen one in at least a decade. Yeah. I will say the Oscars, you know, I watch every award show. I love pop culture. Even for me, it was a tough watch. It started at 7 p.m. on Daylight Savings Day. So like the first day of Daylight Savings. So it felt like it started at like noon. and I hadn't seen most of the movies. Got to get on that.

28Yeah, I mean, I just don't have the attention span for them. Oppenheimer, three hours. You got to start training your brain. Yeah, Killers of the Flower Moon, six hours. These movies are too long for me. I don't have that in me. I tried to watch Dune this week. Oh, no. I made it like 15 minutes. You got to go to the theater for that one probably. I think that's the key. Oh, you saw Dune 1. I tried to watch Dune 1. Yeah, didn't go so well. I need to be like strapped down to a movie. Like Clockwork Orange. That's right. Exactly. Phone like somewhere else that I can't take it out. Yeah, they need to get you one of those like bags you get when you go see like a comedian.

05Yeah, exactly. And that is the only way I'll be able to pay attention to any movie. So I hadn't seen anything. And so I guess that kind of takes some of the luster away from the watching experience. But Jimmy Kimmel's good. He's a good host. Does that job well. John Cena got naked. I saw that. That was kind of cool. Yeah, I mean, it was an internet-y moment. I mean, it was covered up. It's not that impressive. It really wasn't that crazy. It's funny because I - Take the covering off, John Cena. What are you hiding under there? I got so bored that I kind of was like, okay, I'm not going to watch this live anymore.

38And then I'll just fast forward through the moments because it was so, you know what I mean? I was watching live and I had to watch commercials and awards I don't care about. And so I stopped. And then when I was on my phone, I saw the Cena things. So it didn't, you know, for me, I was like, oh, wow, not that impressive. Ryan Gosling can sing, which is cool. He did I'm Just Ken. Wow. Which was pretty cool. Great song. Yeah. Very funny. He's very talented. Good for him. Yeah. Very talented. Billie Eilish also can really sing. Very talented. Who knew? Yeah. Good for her. She won her second Oscar for.

12Yeah. That's crazy. Yeah. She won for the 007 song a couple of years ago. Okay. And then she won for the Barbie song, which great songs. She's very talented. She's good at songs. And yeah, Oppenheimer, my favorite movie of the year. Best picture. Best 30 seconds of Alex's year. Hey, hey, hey, 35 minutes. I almost got to something. I almost, like I saw enough to generally know what the vibe was. I got a vibe check. No spoilers. Yeah. I won't tell you what happened. But yeah, it was relatively boring to me. And I don't know, it's tough because, you know, Grammys or other shows, they have a way to like have live performances.

54Yeah. And they have live performances for the songs, but it's just not really that great. Did Will Smith and Chris Rock ruin the Oscars forever last year by making it so eventful and cool? That was the sickest shit ever. Like looking back on it, it's actually funny. The more time that passes, the more crazy I think that moment is. Yeah. Because it's like at the time you're like, did you just slap that man like in front of everybody? And now you're like, did he fucking slap that guy? It's good television. Yeah, that was wild. They need to bring it back. Yeah, that was a moment that will live forever.

28Best moment of all time. Yeah, you know, Kendall Jenner giving a Pepsi to a police officer. These are the moments that you remember. Did that premiere during the Oscars? No, I'm just saying. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Pop culture moments you don't forget. Where were you? I would never forget that. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I don't know what else is happening in the world. that was a big you know pop culture thing uh the dune uh bucket the dune two buckets doing two buckets making rounds going crazy people sold out everywhere uh is that going to be the new like promotional vehicle for movies is to make like a sexually uh suggestive bucket let's hope so yeah i see that happening um maybe maybe we could do something with like the cups next time oh yeah good idea kevin yeah this is this is smart this is why the movie studios need to hire us get on some big brain marketing yeah uh you see donald glover has like a marketing company now and he just does like stunts and things like that like didn't really seem that impressive like you know that stunt there was like a comedian that like got someone ran up on stage next to him yeah they rushed him off stage well um we were talking about one of his stunts and i think it's just been revealed um by the timothy goodman yeah timothy goodman yeah no from one of his shows like And it's funny because when that happened, I wasn't there, but I saw it on TikTok and I kind of, you know, I had my Kevin sort of, you know, brain on.

49And I was like, this is up. Yeah. I knew. It didn't. It felt too, I don't know, it felt too obvious to me. Yeah, he's just doing inside jobs. But yeah, that was through Donald Glover. So shout out to Tim. I mean, Tim doing deals with Donald Glover is pretty sick. I mean, fucking amazing for him. Do you think Jeff Koons last year, do you think that was also a Donald Glover special? Yeah, for sure. I mean, I just want to know, like, what's the point, I guess? You know, I mean, it's good for Tim, right? It's cool, but what is it? Clout, bro. Clout? And then, like, the comedian thing, whatever, like, that didn't really even.

22Yeah, that wasn't even cool. That wasn't, didn't really do anything, I guess. But, you know, shout out to him. Shout out to Donald Glover. You know, looks great, dude. Yeah, absolutely. Anytime he gets fitted up, he looks incredible. I did see his fit, and it was great. Yeah. I don't know what the deal is with that Vanity Fair party, but it does seem that everybody goes to that one particular party, gets that same shot on the red carpet, I guess. And then that's it. I guess there must be some party that all these people are going to. You don't hear much about it. So I wonder if people just go take their photo and go home.

55Or maybe there's a bunch of debauchery and they can't have their phones there. That's kind of what I hope it is. Yeah. I hope it's like some very wild scene. Not too wild, though. Yeah, but you don't see any videos, photos, anything, at least I don't, from inside of that party. Yeah. What are they hiding? What are they hiding? Illuminati shit. Yeah. Hopefully they're just having a good time and not doing Illuminati shit. No, I was a joke, but I hope you're, like, that's what I want. I want to be like, that's a wild fucking party. Everyone's drinking. Everyone's, like, getting crazy and, like, wild things happen that, you know, we can only dream of.

32Yeah. But you don't hear much about it. Oh, Kate Middleton is a graphic designer now. That's another thing that's gone around the internet. I heard she got a BBL. Yeah. She's a graphic designer now? So the story is that, and I don't know anything about this, so let me talk about it into a microphone. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. That's the front and center special. Yeah, she hasn't been seen since December publicly. Yeah. And that's weird because she's seen quite often publicly. She does a lot of, like, that's her job is to be in the public doing things. Who is she? She's married to Prince William.

07Okay. So the job, which remember Harry and Meghan quit. Oh, so they're now Harry and Meghan? No. Well, they were, Harry and Meghan were their brothers, Harry and William. Okay. And so the job of being royal, and this is my understanding, is you have to do a lot of, like, appearances. You have to go to a lot of places, shake a lot of hands, go to, you know, events, dinners, and like, and just represent the family. Wait, are we talking about Kate Middleton from John and Kate Plus Eight? No, we're talking about Kate Middleton, the royal family, of the royal family. Did she not marry in? Is that? Who?

46Kate Plus Eight? Yeah, Kate Plus Eight's not married in? No, no, no, she didn't. And so, yeah, she hasn't been seen, which is weird. So people are like, what is she, what's going on here? and uh yeah people are like did she getting plastic surgery is she getting bbl uh there must be some story so they they tried to dispel the rumors with it with a photo of her and her kids yeah and the photo looked pretty retouched photoshopped ai generated people questioned people are also saying the photo came from like a magazine cover so everyone's analyzing this photo that they put out to be like she's alive she's great and um because it's very photoshopped and obviously so the statement i believe from the royal family is that kate had been retouching the photo herself oh so people are like oh graphic designer kate melton wow good for her yeah i heard that i actually did hear a little bit about this story okay uh another podcast oh what to another podcast but uh they said that um what did they say they said that like the ap like retracted it because they said it was like ai generated well so was it ai generated or just retouch i don't think it was ai generated i think they the internet quickly saw that it was there was something some weird things with it and so they like try to retract it as quick as possible and i think that's what's happening but maybe the first person to welcome uh kate to graphic design as a profession you know good for her good for her maybe she's just been working on her craft yeah yeah yeah trying in the lab good for her building brands i wonder yeah i wonder what will happen i mean this is the my first thought is why don't she why doesn't she just like go outside like i Sending out a photo of you and your kids is not a total slam dunk of I'm alive.

46You know what's a really easy way to do it? Just go somewhere public. Maybe not done with her body double yet. I guess so, yeah. Or maybe she's dead. That's what I was saying. Yeah, yeah. I guess so. They don't have the right. I see where you're going, Kevin. Well, who knows? I thought the body double is just for her BBL. That's where my brain went. Yeah, so that's what's going on. Is there any like, why do they think it's a BBL? Is that just a rumor? I think it's just internet brain. I think internet brain is people being like, what would you do for four months? And like, why would you? It's a BBL, a four-month recovery.

20I guess so. I don't know. I don't know how long a BBL takes. But yeah, that's the big question. Where is she? And what's going on? Where is she? And how long does a BBL take? That's right. Those are big questions. NFL's going crazy. Saquon Barkley dead to me. and uh yeah how dare he accept a long-term contract with guaranteed money dare you as a professional athlete take a contract to be a professional athlete for lots of money how dare you say one seriously um good for him uh topics you want to move on yeah let's do it that's it i don't have anything to say there oh uh celebrity kylie jenner from the kardashian empire the royal the real royal family self-made billionaire yes self-made billionaire royal family of America launched a RTD vodka soda.

12It's called Sprinter, and it is a 100-calorie vodka soda that consists of sparkling water, premium vodka, and fruit juice. Sure. It comes out on March 21st and comes in four flavors, black cherry, peach, grapefruit, and lime. I feel like I already know how this tastes. Yeah. And it's probably fine. It's going to be fine. I think the packaging and the design of it is good. It's cool. It's simple. It feels kind of like 90s, 2000s. It's well done. Yeah. That's not my problem with this. Yeah. I, too. I mean, I even think the name's kind of nice. Sprinter. I like the name. I like the graphics. Yeah.

56You know. A lot of that stuff is good. I just don't really like the name attached to it. Yeah. Sprinter. I don't get the name. Oh. Where does the Sprinter. The name attached to it being Kylie Jenner. Oh, I don't understand why it's called Sprinter. It doesn't matter. I don't know. I'd like to know a little bit. Because maybe it's healthy and I don't know. You can sprint. You can pound eight of them and be sprinting. Sprinter. Hardly even know her. Yeah, the name, I struggle with the name a little bit. It's really long on the can. So they have a tall skinny can. It just kind of rides the whole can, which looks good.

32You know, shout out to designers there. What do you not like about the name? I just don't get it. You don't have to get every name. What's the story? I want to know why it's called Sprinter. What's the story behind Coca-Cola? That's a bad example. Two ingredients. Okay. Touche. Here's the thing. I find that the Kardashians are pretty good at only putting their name. Sorry. Maybe I'm wrong. Sorry. Let me restate this. I believe that the Kardashians are pretty good with only launching brands that are authentic to the personalities that they are aligned to. They also, in my opinion, do a good job of not oversaturating the amount of brands that they have.

20Like Kim has. Yeah. I mean, Kim has like two brands, a beauty brand and Skims. Khloe has a denim brand. That's it, as far as I know. Good American. um courtney has push and lemmy so two brands uh kendall has 818 and kylie i believe has kylie cosmetics uh kai which is like some sort of fashion brand and so i believe this is like her third or fourth brand. She has like a Kylie beauty or she had like a, a sort of a bathing suit line. I want to say, so I'm, I don't, I think that that feels like this is the tipping point for how many brands one celebrity should have for me. Um, and so you, so, And I'm also not sure why she's getting into sort of RTD vodka.

28Probably a big fuck you to Travis Scott and Cacti. Yeah, exactly. Like, does Kylie drink a lot? I don't know. And so I guess the question is, why launch this brand? Why is it a passion for her? It's money, dude. But I don't want to think that. I want to think that it's because of trying to create products or something that's new and interesting and novel. breakthrough. And so the only thing I have to go off of here is a press release from Kylie Jenner in which she said, quote, Sprinter is my answer to the growing consumer demand for quality canned cocktails. That's tough because from my count, there's 8 million canned cocktails.

11Yeah. But would you rather her give some bullshit long-winded response? Yes. Yeah? Yes. I want something that's like I love drinking canned cocktails when I'm by my pool. Just give me something. Kylie does not drink canned cocktails. They have somebody on staff to make regular cocktails, which are much better than canned cocktails. It just feels like a cash grab. I just don't want that to be the feeling when I'm launching a brand. The world is not asking for more celebrity-backed brands. That's fair. So when you do this, you have to be very kind of smart about it. You've got to say the right things.

53You do. You do. You have to say the right things, but you also have to do it for kind of the right reasons. There has to be some authenticity to why it's coming out. Do you think that the Kardashians are an authentic family with authentic personalities themselves? I think when it comes to their brands, they've done a good job of keeping their line extensions and brands to be fairly authentic to their – at least to their, you know, sort of personalities and their brand. So I just think it feels like too many. Like she has – Kylie has launched a lot of different brands, and I feel like this is probably one too many, and it does feel like it's also not doing anything different.

32Like there's so many canned cocktails. It's not like she's like, oh, I love Moscow Mule, so I launched a Moscow Mule in a can. Like it's just – So you're saying that you want her to lie. Yes, yes, yeah. You're saying you want her to lie and to package it up with a story? Yeah, I think there needs to be a story. But also I want something from a product perspective that isn't already out there on the market. Yeah. And I think that, for me, is kind of the problem. It's like you said, like cacti and Onda. There's like, you know, Onda's tequila. So it's like, these things exist. And there's just, I don't know.

10I just don't understand what it needs, why this needs to exist. So she said, not only does Sprinter have a unique, bold branding and captures the feeling of fun with your friends, but it also the best tasting vodka soda I've ever tried. And I've tried a lot. I can't wait for people to taste it themselves. Yeah. I mean, again, it's just like it feels like it didn't need to exist. That's kind of my take on it. Whoa. The design and the branding is good, but the product itself and the story, it just doesn't add up for me. That's fair. I say that literally about everything. And I'm with you. It definitely doesn't exist.

46The reason why you're saying that is because it doesn't have a well-spun story. I just don't get why this needed... I don't know. She's got enough brand. She's making enough money. This feels like something that just... I don't know. It's just missing that kind of hoopla. and I think you love the hoopla yeah I just I don't know it just doesn't like have the sort of the interest or the excitement that I am looking for and I think I'm not the only one that has this sort of belief I saw that on Instagram when they launched they turned off all the comments because all of them were negative of being like yeah it was not that's a tough look yeah it was a bit of a bloodbath situation damn what did they say I guess they were just like Like, why?

38Why? Yeah. Just like, why are you doing this? We don't want this. We don't need this. Kind of. Wow. People have spoken. Yeah. I mean, again, like, yeah. It just doesn't feel like it's going to work. Let's see if it works. We'll see. I mean, listen, I'm happy to be the first one to be wrong. And again, they have so many followers. I'm sure it'll kind of work. I'm sure it's going to work. I think people are going to buy this. and I'm sure it will be like the design of it is good, like enough that it can probably work without her. It just feels like, it just feels like, you know, cash grab. That's what, that's how it feels.

20And I'm sorry. Um, but it's, it's, it's well done. And it just, I think, I just think when in that position, you gotta, you gotta be careful how many things you sell. I think that's a big, that's the big kind of piece. Like when you're, when you, when you have that big audience, and you're asking people to buy things, there's a balance of how much you give and how much you take. I feel that. And also maybe just in a year, I think she just launched a clothing line. It's like you kind of have to also pace things out. So if it's like if you just launched clothing like two months ago or something like that and you're doing like buy my clothes, buy my clothes, and then it's like buy my drink, buy my drink, but summer's coming.

01Buy my drink so you can fit into my clothes. There it is. Boom. Wear my clothes, buy my drinks, and wear my lipsticks and get out there. Listen, I changed my mind. Well done. Alex just wants a little bit more hoopla. Yeah, I just want a little bit. It shouldn't be that easy. You want to believe. I want to believe in someone wanting to do something for the right reasons. It's like The Bachelor. I want you to launch a brand for the right reasons. As someone who cares a lot about launching brands, it's like, don't just do it because there's a growing demand in the consumer-facing market. That can't be the headline.

39That can't be the first quote. Inspiring stuff. Yeah. Good for you. Campbell's grilled cheese and tomato soup. These stories are all from the dial-in, Kevin. Some of them are, yeah. These first two are. Shout out to Bill. Shout out to Rudy. Shout out to Scott. I liked Bill's quote for the tequila or the vodka soda. Yeah. What did he say? Another day, another Kardashian or Jenner brand? Yeah. See, that's the thing. It's like they didn't launch a lot of stuff. And there's a lot of sisters. So I think they should. I mean, I hope Chris probably has like a calendar. Where's Rob's brand? He had a sock brand.

15Oh, did he? Yeah. Fuck him. I should know the name of it. Rob Kardashian's sock brand. Arthur George. Okay. That's it. Great. That's the name of it. Campbell Soup. Arthur George. It's still rocking. There's still a website, and man, it is not looking great. Calls, Rob. Moving on. Campbell Soup. So Campbell Soup just redid their packaging, I believe, last year or two years ago. Turner Duckworth did an awesome job. Oh, yeah, they did. And so they're getting into the limited edition game, Kevin. Oh, yes. Limited edition soup. Yeah, exactly. You know what goes great with a tomato soup? Campbell's most iconic soup?

59Grilled cheese? Oh, grilled cheese. And you know what really takes a long time to make? Grilled cheese. Yeah, man. You got to get the bread. Notoriously hard thing to make. You got to get the cheese, and then you got to get the butter, and then you got to have some sort of griddle or some sort of toaster or pan. Nobody's got time for that. Who's got the time? So Campbell's is making it easier to enjoy the combination of taste with its latest flavor of tomato soup. The limited edition grilled cheese tomato soup comes ahead of National Grilled Cheese Day. Wow. I know. I've been waiting for that.

29Wow. And I will say, whether you like this idea or don't like this idea, the packaging is fucking fire. Yeah, it's flames for sure. It looks so good. It's got a yellow top and a red bottom. And it's got that grilled cheese in the middle with a little cheese pull. Dave, you said it had a red bottom? Shit. It's got the red bottoms. It's really nice. And it does harken back a little bit to the Warhol-y kind of vibes of colors. Typically, Campbell's has white and red. it looks really good it's a really nice looking package it's sweet i don't really understand the concept of the uh of what they're going for sure i call me old-fashioned but i kind of just like regular tomato soup with my grilled cheese but hey go go off they're not making that many of these so yeah it's not like it's a new line extension but yeah i just don't really understand but sweet yeah i'm sure it's cool it looks cool yeah um uh one of the most iconic package designs in history uh typically the medallion is in the middle um if you're a campbell's super fan uh that's been replaced with a grilled cheese i i'm also reading here that the red is actually the iconic campbell's red is actually more of a grilled uh tomato soup color so it's a little bit more orange it's more of a tomato like hue and then the yellow is for the grilled cheese of course yeah well those colors are juiced and those colors look awesome and uh yeah if you want to get your hands on it campbell's is giving away 412 cans sweepstakes march 20th why not like 415 why not 400 i'm sure there's some reason why that's uh significant oh wait no the soup day okay soup day April 12th yeah ah Kevin 412 fucking put it together there it is um I like that yeah that it was recently 311 day oh my god dude and uh they did 311 the band did a tiny desk uh concert I haven't seen it yet but 311 I had an all-time moment on the lift yesterday okay 311 day what happened there was a bit of a um verbal disagreement between the two gentlemen to my left they didn't know each other we all were uh you know singles and uh on on the on the left and it was kind of awkward and then like so they like kind of like squash the beef and it's just like i don't know it's like some dude from jersey and another guy basically the guy's like all right let's celebrate 311 day and he starts playing 311 from a speaker fuck yeah it's like straight out of an Eric Andre bit.

06That's hilarious. It's like happy 311, bro. Yeah, yeah. I am one of my favorite brands going up. Favorite bands. Not brands. Yeah. All I can think about. Freudian Sleep. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Freudian Sleep. Damn, double. We're slipping. Fucking slipping hard, man. But yeah, no, 311 Day. That's pretty sweet. I will say 412 Soup Day. Fine. 311 Day. I like this. I like this a lot. Yeah. 3.11, man. No, I didn't know. I saw the tiny desk. How'd you not know? I didn't know. I recently actually, like on TikTok, sometimes I'll get fed videos from the late 90s, early 2000s. Did you even celebrate Mario Day?

48When was Mario Day? March 10th. Oh, God. I'm fucking up, man. March 10th, Mario Day, March 3.11, March MAR10. Oh, God. Yeah. Jesus Christ. Man, we got Pi Day coming up. We do. Big week for days. This is a crowded calendar. That St. Patrick's Day? Yeah, coming soon. It's crazy. This is a wild scene. But shout out to 311. Go listen, kids out there. Yeah, you know what today is? It's National Dermatologist Day. Yeah, I looked it up. It's also National Earmuff Day. So the more you know. Yeah. Stay for every day. You could just make them up at this point, I think. That's how it goes. Moving on. Lunchables.

31famous sort of... How do you describe a Lunchables? It's like a... Lunch. It's lunch for kids. It's like a bento box. It's like a charcuterie board for kids in elementary school, right? Yeah, that's a very polite way of putting that, describing what it is. Sure. And so everyone loves Lunchables, right? Yeah. And I always think about how they had a breakfast Lunchables and they didn't call it Brunchables. They got to brand them in. What's wrong? What's wrong with you? Well, they have something new called Dunkables. So Lunchables Dunkables apparently is a – how do I describe this? It's two objects.

15One is a stick and one is a dip. And basically it's pretzels, twists with PB spread and cocoa chips, so peanut butter and chocolate, a great combination. Sure. And then another one, which is mozzarella sticks, which is just cheese with marinara and breadcrumbs. Kind of sweet. Kind of sweet. I don't know how that would taste cold. Probably great. Some pretty big innovation coming from the Lunchables sort of ink over there. And so they got a big idea to try to get people to pay attention to this idea. And it's called KI, Kid Intelligence, which is a play on AI. and essentially what you can do is kids, youngsters, this is how the press release says, can submit their food-inspired creations for a chance to win prizes.

10And so the Lunchables is taking on artificial intelligence and is trying to highlight the seamless, limitless imagination of children. Sweet. And I guess the question is, do they then use AI or is it just a celebration of AI versus AI? So as I understand it. This is very confusing. As I understand it, there is the prompt. And they're giving the same prompt to the AI and the kid. And then they're putting them side by side to see what they both come up with. I like this. This is good. Yeah. Kids versus machines. Yeah. Robots versus toddlers. Chalk one up for kids. Yeah. shout out to kids better imagination than ai i like this idea yeah pretty smooth on lunchable's part getting uh gets free creative smooth like peanut butter spread yeah so here here's the deal we're gonna we're gonna generate all these assets based on you know kids submissions yeah that are um enter them into a contest so free and then we're gonna use ai which is also free yeah i see what you're doing here kevin i like this idea i don't want to think too much about it i just like the idea that they're putting giving prompts to both computers and also kids yeah who doesn't love a kid's drawing of a you know yeah yeah of a peanut butter planet or yeah like i don't know that's just great it's great and i'm i'm totally here for this idea and uh i i also even like on the packaging they have like little miniature like uh people kind of like flying and jumping on the mozzarella sticks yeah they're skiing down the mozzarella stick yeah pretty sick That's me.

47Someone's surfing in the peanut butter. Hell yeah. This is smart. All this is working. I mean, here's the thing. Dunkaroos famously prove that people, kids, like dunking things. Everyone loves dunking. Yeah, it's fun to have two things. One you kind of stick and one you dunk and there you go. And I think the peanut butter pretzel chocolate, that's going to be great. I do still question the mozzarella sticks one. That's going to be weird. But who knows? I would be down to try these things. put them on the list of things we want to try put them on the list of things we want to try exactly so this is sort of Lunchables is giving one innovative kid a pretty sweet job which is the brand's head of imagination wow and so kids aged 5 to 13 can submit their artwork based on the prompt imagine a mozzarella stick or pretzel twist as something fantastical okay the prize includes a 4 day 3 night trip to Chicago sure to visit lunchable's headquarters yeah when i go back to chicago i feel it um to visit lunchable's headquarters imagination sessions to help create social media content access to lunchable's test kitchen to taste products and craft a custom dunkables variety a year's worth of dunkable snacks and 1500 bucks sounds pretty sweet actually i mean listen i would like to win this let's see what's that four days three night trip four days chicago so how many days you got to work you know i'm sure they're the bean you know i'm sure they're gonna be putting that kid to work yeah yeah they better be ahead of imagination$1 ,500 for four days yeah yeah start him young i guess that's quite a day right yeah no good for this kid um but i like this i'm just gonna say yeah no it's cool well done lunchables uh is a cool name i don't know if i've ever heard of I don't know.

37Sorry, Dunkables is a cool name. Lunchables, it's all working. It's a cool idea. I do feel like if they worked on those prompts a little bit more, they could probably get AI to spit out something similar. Yeah, the prompts feel a little underbaked. Yeah. So, Kevin, remember Abercrombie & Fitch? Yes. It was a brand that was flaming hot during my childhood. And I'll be the first person to say, I wore a lot of it. Yeah. Well, the 2000s are back, Alex. In a big way. And Abercrombie, obviously, some pretty terrible business practices. Some pretty awful people were involved. There's a documentary that was on Netflix at some point.

20And really, really interesting story. A brand that could not have been hotter and then fell off completely. But is back. and I had heard that Abercrombie was back maybe, you know, around the time of this documentary actually. It was like, and I don't think the two are related necessarily, but I do think kids were sort of looking for that 2000s era vibe and Abercrombie was making some good clothing. They had gotten rid of all the sort of problematic people that work there and sort of cleaned house a little bit. But I got some interesting news for you, Kevin. On Wednesday, the retailer reported net sales growth of 21 % in the fourth quarter and 16 % for 2023 as a whole.

05Hell yeah. Continuing a hot streak that has seen its stock price rocket almost 400 % over the last 12 months. And you want to know why? The Abercrombie & Fitch wedding shop. Well, that's not the only reason. Oh, okay. Sorry. I read some of the Wall Street Journal article. And basically, they're doing something innovative where they're listening to the customer and adapting the products to what the customer wants and needs. Wow. It's crazy. Wow. Dynamic pricing or dynamic product. Yeah. Well, because they're on such a hot streak, they're taking a quick heat check moment. They're making wedding dresses.

44so it's a collection of a hundred pieces that include dresses bikinis and pajamas designed for brides bachelorette party attendees and guests to wear across the extended wedding season yeah kind of a sick idea interesting yeah i don't know i mean i guess if the brand is uh doing as well as these numbers say then maybe people will be interested in wedding season i mean i guess when you, this brand is targeting probably a, you know, sort of early 20s, late 20s, like, you know, kind of. People in wedding season. People in wedding season. In the wedding era of their life. In the wedding era. And yeah, I mean, where do you go to get wedding stuff?

23David's Bridal. You're not going to go to David's Bridal. Yeah, yeah. Get a lame-ass dress. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Men's Wearhouse. You're only going to wear, like, once. Yeah, like, you need. Well, this is only for women right now. Oh, it's only, they're not doing suiting? I don't believe they are. interesting at the moment okay well they should yeah i mean listen i was because i was gonna say like there's you know go to j crew it's pretty expensive to get a suit sometimes you know go to top man if you really want something cheap and absolutely garbage quality yeah but um yeah do they do uh i'm trying to look at this wedding shop but yeah i think you're right it's mostly targeting women so sorry guys but yeah interesting story i mean abercrombie and fitch like it just has a you know it's got a it's got a place in in in culture and uh yeah 2000s are back so abercrombie's back and uh they seem to be doing a good job at the product and it's always been sort of a attainable luxury luxury is probably not the right word yeah attainable premium brand You know what else is back?

28What is back? I just read this on High Snob. Ooh. Lower back tattoos. Oh, let's go. AKA the tramp stamp. Really? Yeah. It's pretty sweet. Two thousands are back, like we said. And I don't know, like, thousands are a bit trashy. And I'm here for it. Yeah. No, of course. Who could forget? You know, Paris Hilton, Lenzullo, and, you know, there were some, there was, you know, cigarettes being smoked. Yeah. I'm going to get one. Drugs being used. Oh, a tramp stamp? Yeah. Dude, that would be so sick. I got to say, I went to Abercrombie & Fitch to check out the wedding shop. I then clicked the main website, and I got lured into men's as the second piece.

07These shirts look pretty nice. I'm not going to lie. I am seeing some stuff that I could see myself, a future me, wearing at a pretty low price point, a linen camp collar shirt for$42, Kevin. That's pretty good. I don't know, man. Beach, beach, spring, spring is here. It's right around the corner. Summer's coming. I might want to cop one of these camp collar linen shirts, you know, for the pool side. Sure. Shout out to Abercrombie and Fitch. Throwback. I mean, listen, I already put the earring back in. Yeah, you're ready. I'm wearing baggy pants. The last thing to do is get back into Abercrombie.

46And 311. Play some 311. Wow. And we're ready to rock, man. Last story of the day, Gatorade. Gatorade is best known for its sports drinks. They got a big idea, Kevin. You ready for this? Water. Wow. They finally did it. They did it. So Gatorade has completely lost the plot. Today's athletes, quote, are more wellness-minded than ever, and they expect Gatorade to meet all their hydration needs 24-7. The chief brand officer at Gatorade said in a press release, Gatorade water is an all-day hydration option for active people, no matter who they are and how they move from the leader in sports fuel that they know and trust, Gatorade Water.

27As someone who has worked in sports drinks for a long time, the whole promise of Gatorade was that they were sort of only a sports performance brand, and they were catering to athletes. Well, they're still catering to athletes, Alex. Yeah. This water is alkaline, so it's more hydrating than regular water. It's got a pH of 7.5. half yeah this and sprinter have a lot in common you know they're just they're just going for it i mean plastic too is like come on gatorade like at least put your water in a can like get with the program here come on it make it you're absorbing the alkaline water but you're also getting some nice uh microplastics at the same time and all those chemicals that are leaching into it so yeah i guess that's what you want that's that's peak hydration yeah i i don't know guys i mean listen i think there will be a lot of people that will drink this right i think there are a lot of people that won't know gatorade sort of actual like they used to have standards as a brand and they wouldn't launch anything that didn't have you know certain sort of ingredients this is this is not up to the gatorade standards yeah of the past but you know whatever man um you know i'm i'm i'm i'm the only one who cares have you had a gator light no is that the like the pedialyte gatorade thing yeah i mean pretty salty so i like yes it's good hydration i will say that that pedialyte you know sort of gatorade light or whatever those products they work really really well like if you're either hungover of course which is what i feel like 90 of the users are but like even if you're just kind of feeling a little sort of uh run down and a little tired if you if you drink one of those pedialyte sort of ultra sodium drinks it gets it going yeah it's It brings you back to life.

14I think from a functionality standpoint, that makes a lot of sense. And I think that's, I don't know, man. This feels like smart water, Gatorade. It just feels like 10 years too late. It's alkaline water, dude. I know, but alkaline water has been around for 20 years. This is not new. But, I mean, it's orange, which is, the packaging is quite nice. I guess I'll say that. They did a nice job. It's a smart water bottle with an orange label on it. So, I mean, good for you, Pepsi. You finally, you did it. You figured out how to make water. Wow. You did it. Hopefully it tastes better than Aquafina. Yeah.

52I mean, Pepsi doesn't really have a good water brand. I don't think they ever figured that one out, where Coca-Cola has both smart water and Dasani. Is Liquid Death going to go Pepsi? I think Liquid Death, it's funny. liquid death actually today announced that they raised a 167 million dollar round ta which uh makes the brand a valuation of 1.4 billion dollars damn yeah so shout out to our friends liquid death holy shit yeah they are uh they're they're they're knocking on the door of uh you know sort of uh generational generational wealth and uh they deserve it you know it's the best brand in the world we've talked about that but yeah that's the big story sorry it was not 167 know 67 million dollars um and uh yeah the valuation is 1.4 billion like i said i jeez louise i think they are either gonna sell or go public i would imagine within the next year i would imagine they've already probably started to uh flirt with that idea this is an this is like uh the brand continuing to do what it's doing probably trying to figure out who to sell to i would imagine both both Coke and Pepsi would want liquid death.

03Yeah. Right? Like it just makes sense. I'm calling Pepsi. You're calling Pepsi. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, it makes sense. Pepsi's hungrier. Yeah. I mean, there's a lot of talk about Olipop and Poppy, who's going to, which one's going to go where too. So it'll be interesting to see of these sort of new beverage brands that are sort of pushing units. Well, I read that Olipop just had a big ass, remember it was like 400 mil or something? Yeah. That's crazy. I don't know. Yeah. So, you know, the beverage game, man, it keeps going. It's been going for many, many years. People love drinking beverages. People love drinking beverages, and Gatorade is going to meet them where their needs are.

37Water. With water. And yeah, the packaging is cool, but it's - That pH is going to rock. Design is well done, but - 7.5. Yeah. That's huge. Fuck yeah, man. They did it. I can't wait to get my hands on this. Yeah. 7.5 alkaline. It's going to be the best hydration one you can buy. Oh, man. I'm on PepsiCo design. My cells aren't going to make that much acid because I'm drinking alkaline water. Yeah. I mean, listen, Pepsi's got a lot of brands. They're the ones behind the Cheetos sort of all-star game thing we were saying. Oh, yeah. The other week we were like, obviously. They do it a lot. They got Starry.

10They got Gatorade Water. They just launched a new Pepsi sort of overall global rebrand. So, you know, shout out to Pepsi, man. Doing it. Sure. Doing it, doing it, and doing it well. That's the show today, Kevin. Always a pleasure. Yep. Thanks for listening. See you next time. Yeah, next week. Same time, same place We gotta get some guests on here Happy birthday Thank you Peace

05We'll be right back. Know that we have always been downtown If I ever did it, thank you, you Then just let's do it now Come back in I bet you'd rather put it start It's done, but I mean now Very quickly, can I tell you so? You know, we love, we love, we love, we love, we love Yeah, we be freaky and we want to stay Change a lot of dance, I'm so Know that we have always been downtown If I ever did it, thank you, you Then just let's do it now

01I'll see you next time. I'm a chameleon, and they've got no one ever to wrap the job that world is on. You know we dive in, I get all our room of battles. Right on time to ever redeem, I call the bottles. Want to love with your teachers on the rock for yourself, mate. Check, check, be free of evidence, out back. Change a lot of things, I'm so, know that we have always been down, down. If I ever did it, thank you, you know. Then just let me do it now. Keep my feet on the ground. I keep my head in the clouds Electrified by the sound It comes from the down And we get a lot of days on, so We know that we are more than downtown If I am a dinner, thank you, you Then just let me do it now

09We'll be right back.
