15three two one kevin what's up buddy what's up cool sweatshirt today yeah i'm liking the hat so the hat how many bangles had so you're up to at this point hard to say hard to say maybe some would say too many. Yeah. Others would say not enough. Yeah. No, it's true. It's just a matter of perspective. Yeah, it's perspective. The Knicks are back, Kev. Yeah, I know. The city is buzzing. I haven't seen you on a side talk episode yet. What the fuck is up with that? You're not making it to the garden? I need to get out of the studio and into the streets. I know. That's the facts. Go touch the hardwood, dude.
52I know. They're fucking rocking. The garden's rocking. You know what we should do as a podcast? Yeah. I think we need to get some merch and we need to go get courtside tickets and be on national television promoting our pod. I think that's a good investment. I believe we can write that off on taxes. I'm not... This isn't the worst idea you've ever had. I think it plays. Do you see the people that are courtside? Yeah. A lot of famous people. It could be us. Yeah, it could be us. Not to mention the opportunity to bump elbows with Ben Stiller, get him on the pod. Yeah, and literally bump into Pete Davidson and he'll push you back.
25That was pretty funny. So for those that didn't see it, Pete Davidson was at the Knick game. obviously celebrities are attending Knicks games because we're fucking back and up 3-1 and cannot be stopped, no stopping, no stopping and he was walking out of the stadium and a bunch of kids, he was taking photos with a lot of people and some older gentleman kind of puts his arm around him to take a photo with him, he didn't seem to like it too much but he was okay with it and then he takes more pictures and then the guy comes back and puts his arm around him again and Pete's like and gives him a nice little shove maybe i defend pete davidson a lot on the show but like i don't think anyone online is mad at him for that i think he has a right here if someone touches you and you say please do not touch me one time and then they touch you again i think it's fair for you to say like get out of my fucking space also you get one photo yeah that's all you get make it good that's right don't zoom in yeah like maybe take a video yeah you get one opportunity to do a photo yeah and after if you miss it you may fucking miss it and even then like you don't have to back fucking grope up on people you know what i mean like come you know have some fucking decorum this is new york nobody comes up and grabs you yeah yeah out of here pretend yeah pretend like you've been here before but like he just seems like a creepy guy by himself and kind of just like unnecessarily uh getting handsy yeah so don't do that and listen like pete david was taking pictures with like kids and trying to be a good dude for these like young adults who were fucking having a good time and some old man is just getting all like you at one point he put his like like uh sort of head on his shoulder Just like getting way too close.
58Yeah, get that out of here. Yeah, get out of here. Also get out of here Dylan Brooks trying to make it seem like fucking the media is making you look like a villain. Oh my God. I think you did that yourself, bro. Yeah, my brother in Christ, you made the sandwich. You are the villain. You are the villain. And now his ass is getting cooked. Yeah, now LeBron is making you look dumb. And you call them out and you poke the bear. And guess what? Now he's dropping 40 on you every fucking night. I mean, at least when Draymond does it, it's like. He can stand up. Yeah, he backs it up, and he doesn't fold, and he is what he is.
29Draymond's an elite defender. Dylan Brooks is looking like a scrub. Also, Draymond and LeBron are sort of boys. I feel like they have a friendship and a relationship off the court, and I agree with you. Draymond is a star defender and a star player, and I think that was LeBron's point. He was like, you're not the actor in this game. Yeah, you're not that guy, pal. You're not that guy. So I think that was original some of the back and forth was like, you don't you haven't earned the right to chirp at me like you just don't get to do that you're dylan brooks i knew dylan lebron james i knew dylan brooks was out of pocket earlier this year yeah i think in like february he had there was a video of him circulating walking down the tunnel um in a horrendous fit bad sneakers um skinny jean jorts that were like just above the knee they all ripped and tight as fuck and then he had a leather jacket on or leather vest he was looking like stone ice cold steve austin um do your thing and like break the internet it's like dog that fit is trash i mean i think the only good thing about this for dylan brooks is that like he should lean into the villain role he might need to retire he's either you got two pats here my friend you either gotta fucking retire and hang up your fucking jersey and be like listen i just got embarrassed by lebron james or you go all the way villain mode and you just are known as sort of a villain and you just kind of embrace this role and you sort of, you kind of look like it.
53And so therefore you just kind of, you got to, you know, just be the bad guy chipped out for yourself. Yeah. You did this to yourself. So therefore you now you got to run with it. Kevin, last week on the program, we talked a little bit about Starry. Yeah. And I think I did a pretty bad job. I just didn't remember anything that I wanted to say. And I, yeah. So you watch the tape and you are here again to right your wrongs. So Kevin, this is The floor is yours. Tell us about Starry. Starry's really getting pushed right now. They're pushing the fuck out of it. Yeah. Not only do they have individual spots for their own brand, which features Kiki Palmer making out with a soda man courtside.
29Odd commercial. Kind of hot. Kind of weird. I find myself wanting to make out with a soda man myself. It's probably a good commercial, if that is the case. It's followed by their tagline, Hits Different, which is probably the sickest tagline I've ever heard in my life. Taken directly from the internet. So, I mean, that's fucking fantastic. You know, you get all these yum brands, you know, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC. Yeah. Every single ad that they're pushing has got a Starry beverage in the background. So they're really, really pushing Starry. Got it. And they're just pushing it hard. So all these brands apparently are yum brands.
09And yum brands, which is an awful name. Yeah. Truly terrible. Is that bad? I don't know. Yum. Yum. it just feels like you don't like yum i don't know i i don't like when food is yum alex just feels weird i i also i find it really weird when they start sponsoring stadiums like in louisville when i just was down there they had the yum brands louisville used to be a papa john's city yeah before um you know yeah and yum brands owns owns kfc so i think it it's like yum brands taco bell pizza hut kfc stadium it's just a fucking mess like i think yum brands feels like a brand that truly needs to not be in the forefront like it's it's a parent brand and i just feel like you need to either make a decision whether you're in or you're out as a consumer facing brand yeah and i feel like yum is like sort of straddling they're like kind of uh they've always been sort of a parent company brand but now they're like putting yum brands on top of stadiums and things like that just we need to we need to figure that shit out i like yum stadium though come on but Isn't it like Yum Brands Stadium?
11Yes. No, but it's like Yum Brands Arena or something like that. And then underneath it, it says Taco Bell Pizza Hut KFC. Oh, hell yeah. So it's got like all the logos and Yum. I'm at the Taco Bell Pizza Hut KFC Arena. Exactly. And so I guess all those brands are Pepsi partners. Yeah. Did you see the nice comment somebody left us? Yeah. His name is Alex Mustachish. Shout out to them. Yeah. There you go. And they said, quote, according to Google, so they've done a ton of research here. Damn, more than us. Damn, Pepsi owns the Frito-Lay brands, which we know that, and did own the Yum! brands, restaurants, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC.
53About 20 years ago, Yum! was spun off to be its own company, and Pepsi no longer has ties to Yum! Except for they sell all Pepsi products inside of Yum! branded... Yeah, they're pushing P there. They are pushing P at all these restaurants. So what you're saying, Kevin, is there's a coordinated attack targeting the NBA playoffs for all of these brands in cahoots to push the Starry agenda. Look at any fast food company. I mean, not Burger King, but any of those Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC. Every single ad they have at the end, they zoom out on the meal. There's always Starry. Well, I guess this is a new brand.
31It's now or never. you know this is your first impression and uh it's time to make uh time to make people fall in love with sorry i do think hits different is particularly good and yeah it does feel like they're going really hard after sprite sprite is the coca-cola sort of lemon lime brand that has been pretty associated with the nba for a long time yeah uh if you remember the drake commercial where he turned into a robot probably one of the best commercials of all time incredible and uh in the cook office they have that uh costume thing in the in they have that yeah they have it the office it's like so this kind of reminds me of that and it definitely feels like they are going this is turf war this is pepsi putting all of its fucking uh sort of uh soldiers in line and being like we're going after yeah sprite we're going with starry we're going with sort of like a hip-hop, you know, sort of basketball, similar playbook.
26Yeah. But just a bit of a more of a 2023 version. Can you look this up real quick? Yeah. Is Pepsi the official drink of the NBA? Like, because I believe it used to be Coke, right? And then, or did they just get LeBron? Yeah. So, Starry is actually the official drink of the NBA and WNBA. What? That's crazy. Yeah. Yeah, so Pepsi is in a long-term partnership with the NBA, and I assume they use this partnership in different ways, not just to promote Starry. They probably promote other products and brands and things that they're out there, sort of free-to-lay brands. I imagine you see some. They're not just only pushing Starry, but yeah, this is from February 1st, 2023.
11Starry was named the official soft drink of the NBA. They're really pushing that shit. They really are pushing it. I've never had it. I think we should try it. I mean, I know what it's going to taste like. I don't know. Apparently, it hits different. Well, you know what? All the Starry talk is making me thirsty. Yeah. Maybe we're pushing Starry. Yeah. Look at us. Two weeks in a row pushing P. Dude. Where's our check? Damn, Pepsi. Come on. Spots of the pod. Literally. Come on. But no, good for... I mean, this makes a lot of sense. Yeah. Good branding work. Speaking of commercials, Alex, how do you feel about that Coinbase commercial?
45I bet you get wrapped up every time you see it. yeah no i actually love the coinbase commercial what kevin is talking about is a commercial that is uh by coinbase it talks about the sort of financial system and we had a very little small part in and it uh the typography moments are sort of done by center so uh you could see some fucking stretch type which uh makes me feel good i feel like i feel like it feels like a little front and center yeah you know you see that in there you're like that's us that's us dude and that's fucking our brand but no it's a it actually we have nothing to do with the commercial we probably should credit who the commercial was done by i do not know that but i should know that but i will say it is in my opinion the best commercial about crypto that i've ever seen because it really just talks about how the current financial system with the dollars and the checks and the atms and all the shit that we deal with it's just like pretty fucking annoying yeah i mean to be honest i like the matt damon one what's that he's like dare to be different really like crypto.com they were hammering at the super bowl really no i don't i don't really like it yeah kind of funny i like the one with larry david that one remember that one where it's like he's never wrong but i genuinely think but if i'm being serious for a second i do think i've never totally understood crypto and i've never totally understood its benefits and uh someone said this to me so i can't take full credit but they were like you don't have to understand how everything works you don't like you don't like use a microwave right or you use wi-fi and you use a lot of things that you do not know how it works but you know what the benefits are right wow so crypto i don't need to know exactly how blockchain technology works all i need to know is that i can transfer my money instantly and i can sort of do it without uh sort of paying as much as i would for an atm transfer or an ach transfer and uh this segment has been brought to you by coinbase wow crypto for me i'm get your fucking bitcoins and your doge coins can you uh can i get paid in crypto what's uh what's up with that unfortunately i have no way uh paying you on crypto damn at this moment that's not to say that can change in the future kev yeah you know i don't know well i can look into this thanks that'd be great wink wink i'm not gonna look into it um speaking of crypto and uh the internet uh elon musk is back in the news because there is more drama over at twitter and this time it's in regards to the blue check marks so if you remember a couple months ago we talked about twitter blue which was elon musk's genius way to get people to pay five bucks a month for a blue check and to be honest i think it was working it's a little confusing because i do think there are definitely some people that are have checks that you don't think of as deserving checks, I guess, whatever that means.
32But you were able to purchase a check. And then the idea was, then they remember they ran into that issue where people are just pretending to be celebrities and all that kind of stuff. I guess they figured out a way to stop that where people are impersonating other people. But now they have another issue where they were essentially going to strip all the blue checks from all the people that had them previously. Yeah. On 420. Epic move by Elon. Is that true? Yeah. Yeah. So a lot of the celebrities that had blue checks, most notably LeBron and Stephen King and William Shatner, were all essentially like, fuck you, we're not going to pay for this shit.
12Because I think, listen, if you're a celebrity, you get everything for free, right? You get fucking clothes for free. You get fucking technology. LeBron doesn't pay for shit. That's the shittiest part about our cultural capitalism. Yeah, that's got to be the shittiest part. That's got to be the number one thing. It's got to be the worst thing. Top, top, top, top things that are fucked with this country. The fact that the richest people get the most shit for free. But the point is that LeBron is not going to pay five bucks. Yeah, he's cheap. And I kind of like that about LeBron. He's like, I think LeBron is one of those guys that like, if you go to a dinner, he's probably like, what?
50The burger is$19? Like, what the hell? Like, I just think that's like part of his persona. Yeah. Right? He's just a kid from Akron. He's just a kid from Akron, and maybe he's a billionaire, but he's not going to pay fucking$5 a month for Twitter, fucking blue checkmark. So apparently they were, Musk had said that he was going to take all those away and cause this sort of uproar, controversy, news, et cetera. And then I think in the end, they wound up taking them away, but then giving them back, which is, why is this such a fucking mess? Obviously, celebrity's not going to pay$5 a month. Maybe some will, but I think$5 a month is more for the people that don't have blue checks, civilians and regulars like me and you, that always wanted a blue check.
39And we're like, oh, wow, now I can pay for it and look fucking important, which, again, takes all the thing that you wanted away from it. But sure, it looks still the same. It just takes all of its meaning away. but then it's like you knew that celebrities a good amount of them we're not gonna pay for it yeah and so it's like i just feel like he loves this controversy well yeah it's good for his brand like where do you where do you go to bitch about the controversy you go to twitter.com and you fire up a tweet yeah that's good for the brand yeah and it gets all these celebrities who obviously have the most followers talking about this and it becomes news and press and podcast and i think it's just he's just a chaos agent and i think he is this was completely avoidable and it makes me think that he knew that oh yeah he does yeah because he's smart he's not an idiot he's not these aren't like honest mistakes he's like they you could have one meeting and been like what should we do with all those real celebrities and real famous people that have millions of followers and blue checks like should we make them pay and someone in that room should have been like what if they don't pay and then be like well then that's gonna be weird it's like then we won't have anything to talk about yeah it's like okay cool well why don't we just keep the people that have like over a million followers and a blue check they should just keep their checks like how many people is that probably a decent amount but not like insane amounts well the blue check means nothing now so yeah it all means nothing it's also fucking confusing confusing and then he said that he was gonna pay for a few personally it's like what You said he paid for LeBron's personally.
14He's not paying for anything. He's just giving it to them because he owns the fucking company. No, he's paying for it personally out of his own. Yeah, he's writing. His credit card details are in the fucking. In LeBron's. He's like, I'd like to have LeBron's and William Shatner's and yeah, Stephen King's, please. I'll take all their checks. I heard that a lot of people over a million followers got verified. Even Anthony Bourdain got a blue check and they said they verified numbers. but like i don't you know he's been dead for you know a while now so it really didn't verify the numbers what do you mean what does that mean verifying the numbers like they send you a text and you're like oh to make sure it's them yeah yeah that feels like it's gonna be tough to do with uh with anthony bourdain yeah um but yeah i just feel like all this is purposeful and in in in many ways just elon musk doing elon musk things yeah he's such an epic bro dude he is so dope did you see when he took out the w from the twitter sign and so it said titter instead of twitter yeah when he put the doge oh my god he's so fucking so fucking crazy yeah and he launched rockets on 420 like that's so fucking lit like imagine like you know smoking with your bros and like you see a rocket go up in the sky like that must be so fucking sick dude he's such an eccentric genius man his rockets blew up and then they were like this is good yeah spin zone this is positive fuck dude elon musk like i will say all this has made me think of him 10 times less i think i can pull up i can pull up the tapes i've got the files of you uh defending i think i watched one documentary about him and i was like no he's just a misunderstood eccentric genius and now i'm just like no this dude sucks and he's a fucking he's a loser and uh we should stop talking about him Kevin, the big story of the week.
58You ready for it? Milk. Milk. Milk. Milk is back, baby, in a big way. Yeah. Milk's here. Milk is the thing. Yeah. We should be drinking milk. I have been shamed numerous times in this office for drinking milk. Wow. Really? Oat milk. Yeah. Milk. Yeah. Just a cup of oat milk. I get persecuted around here. Milk is back. So here's the story, Kevin. Aubrey Plaza. You know her? Yes. America's sweetheart. Yeah. Arguably the most beloved celebrity on planet Earth. Yes. The dynamic actress. Yes. Yeah. Funny, charming, sarcastic. Yeah. And actually very good at acting. Yeah. She is actually very good. Yeah.
42And she was great in White Lotus. So she has a new ad with Milk PEP, short for Milk Processor Education Programming, which is also the same company, I did this research, as Got Milk. So they are a pro-milk company. Yeah, Big Milk. Big Milk. And so if you recall, they created one of the most iconic advertising campaigns of all time, celebrities drinking milk with milk mustaches. So that was a long time ago. And how do you top that? Fucking almost impossible. but they've tried and they have something actually that I find to be really very strong and it is a commercial for wood milk and so this stars Aubrey Plaza and she says have you ever looked at a tree and thought can I drink this and it is a commercial of her sort of walking through wood milk orchards and talking about how a new type of artisanal milk that you'll want to drink for the rest of your life because she said so and because it's made of milk.
53This milk is made of milk. This milk is made of wood. And so wood milk is absolutely not real. It's a parody commercial. What? For real? I thought it was real. Yeah. I do think that people may think that this is real. Yeah. I mean, I did. Because you can make milk from seemingly amazing and bizarre things. Yeah. Soy, almond, peanut, lupin, cow pee, which what the fuck is that? That's a little sauce. I'm taking pee and making it into milk. Almond, coconut, hazelnut, pistachio, walnut, sesame, flax, hemp, sunflower, quinoa, all that shit can be turned into milk. Can we take a second and appreciate Kevin for bringing a list of things you can make milk from to the pod?
34Yeah. Whoa. There's probably more. Wow. That was incredible. But yes, so they created a commercial that is parroting all that the fact that you can make milk from almost anything and to be honest it is believable which is why the best sort of parody skits work for me it's like is this real is this fake oh it's definitely a joke and it's it's culturally relevant obviously everyone is talking about sort of alternative milks alternative milks have completely taken over i don't imagine they've taken quite a amount a large share amount away from regular milk and so they uh regular milk is uh is is shooting back yeah they're fighting back they're fighting fucking back and so yeah people are making milk out of anything these days but there's only one real milk that's gale chief brand and experience officer winston binch so gale is the uh advertising agency who created this great ad and to make the point in an entertaining way we came up with our own absurd and fictional alt milk brand wood milk i'm here for this honestly it's funny it makes a lot of sense it almost feels like it's such an obvious idea and i mean that in a sort of complimentary way where it's like it it seems like just the perfect sense of comedy and sort of relevance and just humor in it yeah it feels very snl like i've got what alex can you milk me oh god um yeah uh apparently it looks like snl because it was written by snl writers and so yeah this is a uh a job well done i think aubrey plus is obviously the perfect person to do this um i think halfway through the commercial they admit that wood milk is not real and then she's probably good yeah which i think is is is smart and then also she talks about like you know what did she invest in yeah yeah um i i thought that shirt she was wearing was fucking fire the one that says got wood yeah Is that for sale?
30It better be. Yeah, no, it should be. And yeah, no, I think again, it has the Got Milk ad at the end, so to tie it back to the old campaign. And yeah, I mean, it's a tough thing to do, to sort of reimagine an iconic campaign and do it in a way that feels new and fresh. And they've done that. It's great. It's really, really smart and funny. Is this running on TV, you think? Yeah, it's got to be. Yeah. Yeah. And yeah, apparently, yeah, Gale is the agency. Haven't heard of them, but - Is that like Siegel and Gale? No, I think that's different, but - A bunch of Gales around here? Could be wrong. And directed by Hannah Levy and co-written by Neil Casey, both who are alums of SNL.
10So it makes a lot of sense. It was well made. It was well done. Yeah. Really drove the point home. Still probably won't get me to drink milk. Yeah. Unless it's, of course, raw milk. Yeah. So that's the second part of this story is that having nothing to do with this ad, raw milk is apparently a thing. I've been seeing it on TikTok. People are obsessed with drinking raw, unpasteurized milk. Are you on Milk Talk? I'm on milk. Yeah. I'm constantly on Milk Talk. So I guess people are saying that it's better for you. Yeah. It's like a primal ancestral milk. I will say, pretty gross. Have you had it?
50I've never had it, but I'm saying that concept. What, raw milk? Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. Right from the teat. I don't know. The fact that it's pasteurized, I don't know if that makes it less weird. Well, the raw milk is not pasteurized. That's what I'm saying. I'm saying the regular milk is weird. Yeah. Point blank, period. That's true. So this less filtered, less pasteurized, less sort of, it's not heated up to sort of high degrees to kill bacteria, right? That's the thing? Yeah, but what are they hiding from us? Why doesn't the man want us to get that good bacteria in us, huh? Is it going to make us superhuman?
31It's a good question. I think it's going to make me fucking ripped. I think you should try this. I'm going to get shredded. well it does feel adjacent to like um the raw meat trend that was going on from a liver king remember that guy out liver king yeah he was just eating big fucking filets just raw yeah i mean there's a lot of freaks out there who are like let me return to my primal roots i'm gonna go back to when men were men and we're eating fucking raw liver out of cows and shit yeah i don't know it's just like uh probably some sort of disorder that comes with like all of this new technology and people wanting to return to a simpler time when we weren't so connected.
07Yeah, I agree. I think we talked about this with Andre a little bit about people sort of rejecting sort of modernity and going back to sort of tradition in a way. That's a fucking big trend right now. And it is a big trend. The problem a little bit though, Kevin, what happens if you drink bad raw milk? You get a little tummy ache, you get a little diarrhea. I don't know. So diarrhea, stomach cramping, vomiting in some very rare cases, kidney failure, paralysis, or death. Big Milk's probably saying that because they want you to drink that pasteurized bullshit. The CDC, actually, Kevin. What do they even know?
42Yeah, fucking Fauci. Why don't you see these nuts, huh? between 1998 and 2011 kevin there were 148 raw milk related outbreaks 2384 illnesses 284 hospitalizations and two deaths i don't buy it yeah you're not you're not buying this yeah so apparently there's legislature in place that prevents states only 19 of them are allowed to sell raw milk in retail stores. Legalized milk. Come on. We need to legalize this, guys. It's literally at Erewhon. How unsafe could it be? Apparently, it's luscious, sweet, and buttery yellow. Yeah, I bet it is. You just can't match the taste. That's what someone is saying.
29I am genuinely curious to try some raw milk. Mmm. Mmm. It's a superfood. It's a pass for me, dog. No? No raw milk for Alex? No raw milk. I'd rather try wood milk, I'll be honest. You don't like it raw? The whole concept of milk kind of skews me out and always has. I'm not a big yogurt guy for this reason. I'm just something about the - But you're a big cream cheese guy. Love cream cheese. The line between yogurt and cream cheese is pretty thin. I don't know. There's something about it that just makes me feel weird. And I'm not a super picky eater. It's not like I'm terrified of a lot of foods.
03It's just something about yogurt and dairy and cows and milking the cows and just something about it makes me a little queasy. I do think the thought behind raw milk is probably valid. If you're sourcing it locally, I think, sure, go ahead and go wild. If you know a farmer that their cows are in good condition and they take care of them and not a huge farm, I'd say, sure, probably give it a try. This is not legally binding advice. This is all a joke. Yeah. Everything we say. Yeah. If you're in the know and you know this farmer who's making this, yeah, probably. It's cool. The cows are in good shape and good condition.
44But I don't know if I'm trying raw milk from Erwan. I don't know where that's coming from. I don't know those cows. It's legal here in New York. It's legal for on-farm purchasing retail grocery store purchases. I also read that Erwan was coming to New York. Oh, really? They're doing a bit of a pop-up here. and it'll be interesting to see what they sell, probably smoothies and maybe a selection of items. Yeah, I need a$23 turkey kale wrap. That sounds particularly yummy to me. Yeah, I want a smoothie that was designed by Haley Bieber. That's what I've been looking for. What if we took reject modernity, embrace tradition?
23What if we took that not as far back and we just went to like, hey, you have a blender. Here you can make a smoothie. Reject the modern arrow on smoothie. Make your own smoothie. Make your own fucking turkey wrap. No one's got time for that, Kevin. Oh, true. Speaking of, Kevin, our next story comes from Hypebeast, and you're going to love it. Drive It Jet. Drive It Jet? This is a private jet completely wrapped in jean. Pretty sick. Which, pretty goddamn fucking spectacular. A beauty. The genification of fucking everything. Yeah. This is maybe the greatest genification story I've ever seen. I mean, if it flies.
07Yeah. That's the thing. It doesn't look like it's built for air. Yeah, it's definitely not. Yeah. So the story here is from Hypes, as I mentioned, but it's surrounding Milan Design Week 2023. Kevin, you ever been to Milan Design Week? Yeah. Yeah. Does it look like I've been? Yeah, yeah. I've been many times. just kidding I've never been there I know that Pepsi does a lot of like sort of design showcasing stuff at Milan Design Week but I've never been but it is a sort of conference it's like an Art Basel type thing for design and it's all very European and G-Star Raw the brand that makes denim has joined forces with a Dutch designer named Martin Bas for an exhibition sort of centered on sustainable denim design called More or Less.
56And basically what he did was took a massive 15-meter long private jet and completely covered in G-Star raw denim. He took slabs of wasted fabric and varying tones for the project and put them on the exterior of the plane to form a patch-like skin around the full body of the aircraft. The Jeep. It is a drive-it jet and a beauty. Really, just look at this thing. It does not look like it's going to fly, but I think it's not supposed to fly because it's meant to provoke sort of thought. Yeah, I don't think denim is the most aerodynamic material. Yeah, I mean, it's definitely got me thinking. Yeah.
37This is a great quote from Boss himself. He said, each year in Davos, there's a discussion about 1 ,500 private jets flying to Milan for people to talk about sustainability. that's a great joke and I can emphasize making this private jet a symbol of luxury and consumption out of recycled materials what are these people supposed to do are they supposed to fly commercial with the fucking plebeians come on you gotta show up swagging and to be honest this is pretty funny and pretty brilliant and yeah apparently addition to the jet the designer created three cabinets for the exhibition each of which boasts a pant like silhouette so yeah we're just making denim the jacks-a-bition yes and uh yeah they're making some jab in it's yeah there's some jab it's uh beautiful beautiful it sounds it sounds uh outstanding yeah i mean what else is 2023 gonna bring us yeah i can't wait i don't know i hope this trend never ends yeah yeah this jab in that tree uh you know sort of ready to wear uh items based in uh denim wow greatest time to be alive what a beautiful time uh speaking of uh you know why it's such a great time to be alive kevin it's because sweet green has introduced a loyalty program oh finally finally this story comes from fast company uh subscribers to sweet green uh sort of loyalty program will pay ten dollars a month and uh apparently you will get three dollars off each order okay so they're trying to win the salad wars or i did not know uh was waging who are they fighting It's a good question.
12Who are the, who's the opposition in this salad wars? Yeah, who are the ops? Subways, sort of sandwich salads? It's a weird way to phrase this. The salad wars? Yeah, everything needs to be a war now. Yeah, milk war, salad war. Yeah, chicken sandwich wars. It's like, we can stop that, right? Yeah, not everything needs to be a war. Yeah, not every corporate competition is a war. You know, the olive oil wars. Yeah. It's like, people are ripping off Graza. Yeah, that's just unfortunately shitty people with stealing other people's ideas. So yeah, people are obsessed with sweet green, myself included.
46I am less of a sweet green loyalist these days. You're not in the zone. I'm not in the zone. But in my prime, back, back, back in my sort of Coca-Cola days, I was a multiple sort of salad a week consumer. And I've thought about this on the program, but they used to have a bit of a loyalty program. It wasn't a ton of money off, but it was as you pass different thresholds, you would get free salads, which I did appreciate. But this is now - Was there a punch card or was there a - No, it was just on their app. And so it would track how many - Oh, okay. That makes sense. So you'd order it on the app and then you'd go pick it up or have it delivered?
22Yeah, or just use the app to pay. And then it would just track how much you were using. And then it was like, you could reach different milestone markers, like a sort of loyalty, like a sort of airline. So like gold status or platinum status or something like that. Yeah. I'm one chopped salad away from a free chopped salad. Oh my God. How long have you been working on that? I think I started in 2017. And it was 2017 to 2017. Oh, you haven't had it chopped in six years. I don't work by one. Apparently, they're targeting white-collar workers. And when the pandemic hit, these workers stayed home and not back in the office.

52So they're looking for those people in Midtown. The old me. Yeah, the salad soldiers. The salad soldiers out there fighting the salad wars. And so basically, if you order more than three salads a month, pardon my math, you basically win this deal. So I guess you can get free delivery once a month at dinner time, priority access to the support team, and early access to merch jobs. Did they say at dinner time? Yeah, you get a free delivery a month at dinner time, not during lunch time. Damn. I mean, it's still valid. Yeah. I mean, this works. I mean, if you have a loyalty program and a brand that people are loyal to and passionate about and salads are fire, I don't see why this doesn't work for them.
43Yeah, and they're getting all those email addresses to sell to people. Yeah, early access to merch drops. All the data. So they're calling this the Sweet Pass. Cool name, I guess. Yeah, apparently there's rewards and challenges. Maybe you get some merch too. Yeah, no, they said that early access to merch drops. Oh, early access. So you got to pay for it. But you get to get that sweet, sweet, sweet green merchandise first. Beats don't kill my vibe. Yeah. I mean, listen, I love sweet green. I haven't soured on them after all these years. And I think it's mostly because they have a tremendous product.
18That was a nice little pun you had there. They're sweet. Yeah, I know. I know. Thank you. Real recognized real. I'm a professional podcaster. um yeah i don't really have much to say about this kevin are you gonna join uh no i just not i'm not against it it's just i don't think i'm eating that much sweet green the problem is with sweet green when you get it delivered it winds up costing like 45 dollars for a salad and i just can't afford that kind of stuff these days like honestly it's more for that midtown soldier that guy that's like working in that office back back eating lunch going you You know, sort of got the khakis and the light blue buttoned down.
55The Patagonia vest. Yeah, the Patagonia vest when it gets a little chilly. And they go hit the sweet green and wait in that line. And it's worth it, though. Listen, I've been out there. I've been that guy. And sweet green salad lifts you up in the middle of the day. It really does. It's a great salad. And it's delicious. And listen,$3 off each order for$10 a month. I'm a seamless, loyal subscriber. And you get free delivery. I don't know. on every order. And so I believe it's something similar, only 10 bucks a month. So it's like, as long as I order more than three or so times a month, then I'm winning.
32I would love to see more loyalty programs come into effect. Yeah. Even as simple as like a little punch card. Yeah. I mean, coffee shops do it. Sandwich shops, I feel like do it sometimes. They need to be doing it more. Weed dealers. Yeah. Weed dealers do it. Yeah. All the reputable businesses. Yeah, exactly. So yeah, step up your loyalty program game, people especially for shit that like i don't know i'm trying to think of something like brands or companies that i use a lot that like i wish had loyalty programs like adobe i also thought of apple but listen we're not gonna go there yeah salute to all the salad soldiers out there doing the lord's work get out there uh okay on a couple more stories here we got uh the phillies uh triple a affiliate would become the lehigh valley hoagies speaking of lunch.
16For one night only. Really? Oh, for only one night? Yeah, it's only like an alternate. Oh. I believe. The only reason why it's worth talking about is to put the visual in the fucking YouTube. The hat, as a hat man myself, the hat goes fucking so hard. It's got a fucking big ass hoagie on it. Yeah, and if you're looking for a cool hat, you should search minor league baseball teams. You get a lot of really out there, cool shit, not as precious. Yeah, they always have a bit of a cartoon energy, a little bit different than the professional mascots. You can tell. I've been on a big minor league baseball hat kick recently.
56If you're interested in hats, talk to Kevin. He knows too much. Yeah, I'll get you right. Last story comes from the dial-in. Kevin Hines is heating up the condominium with a new range of spicy ketchups. Are they heating it up? Is this hot? Do people want this? Yeah. Can't they just do this with fucking Ed Sheeran? I was going to say, well, the Ed Sheeran stuff was hot sauce. So that was confusing a little bit about it came from Heinz, but it wasn't ketchup. They had an Ed Sheeran ketchup, and then they had an Ed Sheeran hot sauce. And so now this is a Heinz ketchup hot sauce, which comes in three flavors, Chipotle, jalapeno, and habanero.
33What's up with the Heinz 57? Are they re-releasing it? I guess they're doing a version of Heinz 57 sauce with jalapeno. So basically they're just coming out with... So it's Heinz 58? I mean, I guess you're right. Technically that would be what it is. I guess Heinz 57 is mostly for steak. It's like a steak sauce, if I know that to be true. I could be wrong about that. But yeah, the new products feature colorful labels, which I think is the part why they're interesting at all. Hasn't Heinz had hot ketchup products before? It's hard to say. Yeah. Because there's so much coming in new products these days, but I'm sure they have.
10This feels like something that just kind of rebranding or just like bringing a bit of a more sort of modern, fun aesthetic to the packaging. It is kind of cool to see different colors used on the front of a Heinz bottle while maintaining the sort of iconic shape of everything. So I'm here for this. I just don't understand why this feels like something they've had for like 10 years and they're just rebranding. They're spicing up the condiment oil. We have some quotes from Lindsay Davis, brand manager for Heinz Innovation at the Kraft Heinz Company. She said, quote, we know consumers are hungry for a wide variety of spicy sauces and flavors.
51See what she did there, Kevin? I mean, that's true. And as a consumer-obsessed brand at the forefront of food culture. That's us, Kevin. We're a consumer-obsessed brand at the forefront of food culture. We saw an exciting opportunity to innovate around our fans' evolving preferences. Man, geez. Some real knowledge and insights there. They really do the most in these PR drops. Quote, listening to insights from our audience. I mean, how many people did you need to talk to to know that people like spicy things? Like, this is a trend that maybe is 20 years old at this point. Listening to insights from our audience showed us that the sauce's heat source matters to them, which served as a North Star in creating new products with curated and flavorful pepper-specific bases.
36So I guess that is the interesting part here, I guess, is that these three different sauces are three different levels of spice. They use three different peppers. Chipotle being the sort of weakest, jalapeno being the sort of medium, and then habanero being the most. I like that they have a sort of meter on these things as well. And habanero is the most spicy, but it's not totally at the end of the meter. So implying that there's room for ghost pepper or some sort. shit that'd be fucking wild bro i mean i do like spicy ketchup i know how many how many spicy sauces do you think you have in your fridge at one time here or at home i mean at home i think at home i i keep it fairly lean like i'm talking maybe like five hot sauces at a time six hot sauces my fridge is glowing red on i we have a whole like top like you know door door uh yeah A whole row on the door that's dedicated to hot sauces.
34It's crazy. There's a lot of shit in there. So one of my cousins, Pat, when I went to Louisville, he is a mushroom farmer. Yeah. And he sort of quit his job and now only grows mushrooms and supplies them to a lot of the sort of local businesses in Louisville, a lot of the farm-to-table restaurants. his collection of hot sauce in his home is so legendary and so massive that he had a friend of his built him a custom cabinet and i'm gonna we might have to put this you know sort of in the show kevin it's a wood cabinet that's sort of uh sort of circular and sort of looks like a portal to like a sort of like a game of thrones or lord of the rings type thing and you have to sort of open it up and it's glass in front.
21Wow. And it's got like six sort of levels of hot sauce. And he's just collecting and he's got collections. He's got hot sauce from everywhere. A sauce connoisseur. He really is a fucking connoisseur. And it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life. And the way that, you know, he was like, you know, we're having certain meals. He's like, Allah. Oh. He's like, I know what we need. Hot sauce sommelier. Totally. He's like, I know what we need for this. Damn. And I made a joke. We were having a blueberry dessert. And I was like, what hot sauce goes with this? He's like, hold on one second.
53You brought me out a blueberry-based hot sauce? I was the only kid in my man. But I did have to try it. But it's a dedication to hot sauce that I truly found breathtaking. Wow. Yeah. Truly amazing. It's life goals. Yeah. It is the life goals to have a custom cabinet just with all your hot sauces. Beautiful, beautiful stuff. Kevin, that's the show today. it's good to be back in sort of the seats that we sit in when we do these podcasts. We won't be in these seats for the next several weeks. Oh, that's right. I'm going to be traveling a little bit. So Kevin and I are going to be doing... I'm going to be traveling too.
26Oh yeah, we're both traveling. Sorry, it's not just me. We are going to be doing some shows separate. Yeah, some remote shows. Some remote shows. And I always like the remote show energy. It brings a new variable. Not that I don't like being here, but I do like when we get out there. Who can forget the Live from the Soho House episode we did that I recorded in a Soho House balcony and conference room. One of the best pods we've ever done. Hopefully we can re-kindle that magic. Yeah, maybe go back to the Soho House. Are you live back or are you permanently banned? They love, love, love, love when you do podcasts in front, in the middle of the sort of open floor.
11A lot from Arrow on. Yeah. I mean, listen, the possibilities are endless, but we'll see you guys next week. And thanks for watching the YouTubes. Yeah, YouTube's good. YouTube, you know, sort of watching and numbers have been slowly. People subscribe. Listen, subscribe to the YouTube. Subscribe to the podcast. Subscribe to the Instagram. I got nothing else to subscribe to. Those are the three things that we do. And TikTok. We've been getting some good comments on YouTube as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. New York City Department of... Oh, yeah. Whatever the... Tourism. Tourism, yeah. And attractions.
46They left a fucking essay on our video with Justin Genak when we talked about them. Yeah. Was it positive? Was it negative? I couldn't tell. I didn't read it too long. I don't know. Yeah. It was... Well... I read the whole thing. Get out there. Get in the comments and let us know what you think of the show, but only positive things. Yeah. TikTok's blown up, too. Yeah, it is. Get in the... Talking about Mrs. Matt's ass. Oh, yeah. With the TikToks, the Instagrams, the content's out there. And we do it for you guys because we love you. And Kevin got noticed in the street. Someone went up to Kevin and said, hey, big fan of the pod.
23Yeah, it happened. If you see Kevin in the street, give him a little, you know, don't get too close to him, though. Don't put your arm around him. Don't invade his personal space. But just give him a sort of subtle, you know, tip of the cap and say, thank you for your service. Yeah, sure. Thank you. Peace. Peace.
07Yeah, from the home of the Dodgers Brooklyn squad Wu-Tang killer, hubby's on the swamp Ray knows your college ass disc don't come For you to even touch my skill You gotta go through one killer B And he ain't gonna kill now Chop that down, pass it all around
