In short

Halloween-themed episode of IGN’s Game Scoop. Hosts discuss spooky/non-horror games that feel eerie, then flip through a November 1990 issue of Video Games and Computer Entertainment featuring Elvira and spooky game ads. They also review early gameplay impressions of Outer Worlds 2.

Guests/backgrounds

Damon Hatfield hosts. Justin Davis is in-studio. Sam joins remotely. Nick Lamone appears later via a “spirit” gag (he’s present by the time Battlefield 6 discussion happens). No guest credentials beyond being IGN Game Scoop cohosts.

Key claims

  • Outer Worlds 2 is “much bigger” than the first game, with improved graphics/animation and Fallout-like gunfights/conversations; reviewer score cited: 8/10.
  • Second planet storyline is more interesting; early gameplay includes double-jump boots with a limitation (won’t work at terminal velocity).
  • Battlefield 6 Battle Royale mode (RedSec) is free-to-play and stands out for destructible environments and traversal (parachute, deployable ladder); helicopter piloting is hard.
  • Two Point Campus is a scenario-based sim worth buying on sale (Justin cites $3 price).

Notable examples

  • Spooky-but-not-horror picks: Ninja Spirit (TurboGrafx-16), Shadowgate (NES), Mario World Halloween sprite set, Sonic underwater claustrophobia, Pokemon ghost/graveyard areas, Bellatro (Lynchian vibe), Majora’s Mask body-horror transformations, Ocarina of Time torture/blood temple imagery, and poker-face skeleton scariness jokes.
  • Magazine: Elvira cover; Castlevania 3 ad/sweepstakes to Dracula’s Transylvania (with discussion of Romania/1990 politics).

3:14Justin Davis:Spook or treat. What's up, everybody? Welcome to IGN Game Scoop. I'm your host. It's me. It's Damon. It's just me. Just me, everyone. Damon Hatfield. And joining me this week here in studio is Justin Davis. Scoop. Sam joins us remotely. Hey, we do have a trick for you, and that's that we probably won't get to that EGM again. This one's not an EGM and we are definitely getting to it. It's the only topic I picked for the show, Sam. So we would have nothing to talk about if we don't flip through this magazine. Okay. We're also joined by a spirit, a spirit of Halloween sitting next to Justin here who will transform.

3:52Justin Davis:Oh my goodness. Wow. What a transition. Viewers or listeners, we have some spooky transitions this episode. So this spirit will materialize into Nick Lamone in just a little bit. Nick's busy right now. He couldn't make the beginning of the show, but he's going to join us a little bit later on. Listen, it's hard to frame up three people and then four, all right? We don't have that ability. We have to use a transitional ghost. Yep, nobody does. What was up with the lightning bolt? Oh, man, this thing can make so many different faces. It's got, I've seen OK, pumpkin, and lightning bolt. Is that most of them?

4:25Justin Davis:That's it, yeah. That's about it. The big three. yeah man we've got an old magazine for us to look through uh and um we got some some very good listener emails so we'll be checking with the listeners but first i can finally talk about outer worlds 2 which i've been playing for a long time but the embargo you have lifted last week yeah i've been playing it for like 20 hours sam wow it's not out till uh today well sometimes i i can get video games early what sometimes sometimes yeah i was making a little goof there because it was out in early access if you paid a lot of money last week yeah uh yeah so our review went up last week uh reviewer gave it an eight out of ten a great out of ten and i would i would so far i'd agree with that i'm enjoying it i like it a lot it's a very fun video game it is another out of worlds that's much bigger than the first one so i think if people who like the first one are gonna like this one and if didn't like the first one yeah maybe not unless there are some people who who were who were disappointed at the smaller scope of it yeah This is a bigger game.

5:25Justin Davis:It feels much bigger. I spent 10 hours on just the first planet. How is Obsidian doing this? I don't know. Because they also had Avowed this year, which feels like a very similar game. And they're making Grounded 2. Yeah, they got Grounded 2. Does it feel like sci-fi Avowed? Yeah, well, it feels more like Fallout. It's outer space Fallout. It's exactly like Fallout in space. I mean, I played the original Outer Worlds. It kind of washed over me. I remember liking it, but I couldn't tell you too much about it. Is it an actual sequel? Do you know? It's not a sequel. New characters, it's not related.

5:56Justin Davis:Don't worry about it. Another one of the same game. Got it. The graphics look a lot better. I think I only played hours of Outer Worlds, and I did that because I was like, why am I doing this? I'll just wait for Starfield, which was ultimately a bad decision. I can tell you this. It is much, much better than Starfield. Much, much better? Yes. Wow. Okay. That's good. I liked it. you know, when I get games early, I try to spend a good amount of time with them so that I can talk about them on this show. So at first, I was kind of like forcing myself to play it because I loved Ghost of Yote so much.

6:33Sure.

6:33Justin Davis:But after a few hours, I was all in, and I'm just, Ghost of Yote who? No, I'm just kidding. Not like that. Look at these Bethesda-ass conversations and gunfights. It's so funny. Yeah. It's like, it's not that, the graphics look better, it's shinier, people are moving, their faces are moving just fine, but it's that framing where they're right in the center of the camera and they're just like standing there talking right in your face just staring at you that's the move yeah um yeah really fun i think the second planet the the sort of storyline you're following there is more interesting than the first planet which is also what i think our reviewer found as well i i took down some notes some observations uh that i can share so early on and i i don't consider this stuff spoilers this is just early gameplay stuff you know not spoilers for me early on you get these boots allow you to double jump yeah and that's pretty fun there's never been a video game that wasn't made better by a double jump it's like oh man i wish i couldn't double jump nope double jump fun and they have some sort of light platforming challenges thrown in there from time to time then you always feel like the first game was with a double jump i think it i mean a mario world had it with yoshi if you jump off his back yeah that's yeah i don't i wouldn't count kirby kirby's like a septuple jump.

7:43That's like a hover.

7:44Justin Davis:Yeah, too many jumps. My mind goes to Symphony of the Night, but surely there were double jumps before Symphony of the Night. I like when you double... It became associated with metroidvanias. You double jump in games and you get to some ledge and then you feel like you're like, ooh, I'm not supposed to be here. But of course you're supposed to be there. That's the whole point of the game and exploring. So great. Can anyone remember a game where you, a human, gained the ability to double jump without any sort of equipment? it was that it was that um far cry spinoff one new dawn oh yeah the post post nuclear apocalypse one yeah you just get to be able to do a double jump at some point you get a double jump uh these boots the one thing that's kind of interesting though is um they you if you reach terminal velocity it won't work so you can't jump off a really high ledge and use your double jump to save yourself from taking damage okay it's really meant to move farther to jump farther rather than higher so i think that's kind of an interesting little limitation like any like these games you eat food to heal yourself there's just food everywhere that you can pick up yeah and including alcohol and usually if you drink alcohol it'll you'll it'll like buff your strength but uh nerf your accuracy something like that sure just like real life not here no if you're almost dead just drink a bottle of vodka you'll be right as rain no no uh downsides to drinking alcohol here we that always like my daughter's 11 and she gets older and plays more video games she's always very very tickled of like i'm gonna pause and eat 14 wheels of cheese and then continue this fight and like that really makes her laugh every time that happens wait wait till she sees where you um find turkeys in fighting games yeah cooked turkeys um there's no encumberment so you just pick up everything just pick up everything and it's fine okay yeah i think that should be one of our 10 commandments for games i think we're just done with that well i was gonna encumbered Yeah, 100%.

9:36But I was going to say the same thing about fall damage. It's weird. The cross-section of games that we want to be realistic enough and restrict player freedom enough to give you fall damage, but no encumbrance, just carry everything. That's a strange cross-section of games. Yeah. You would think no encumbrance would also signal no fall damage. No.

9:57Justin Davis:Fall damage, but no encumbrance. That's nice. But double jump. But double jump. Okay. As long as you don't reach terminal velocity. Got it. Yeah, the 10 commandments thing is good. We should actually get those in stone sometimes, Sam. You know, another one is in turn-based, games with turn-based combat, you should not miss. Don't miss. Missing feels so bad in turn-based combat. Yeah, well, but what if it tells you the percent to miss ahead of time? That's different. That's different. Buffs have to be double digits. Yes. No 3 % stat increases. I don't know about the encumbrance. The encumbrance thing is a little bit like vegetables.

10:32like nobody wants them but like you need i don't know it's the the you know you're deep in a dungeon and then it forces like i'm not happy about it if i had no encumbrance i'd be like yay no encumbrance but it's like just eating candy for every meal breakfast lunch and dinner it's like you got to make interesting choices about what you take out with you and so i don't know i think you just made a really good case for taking it out of every game it's a video game i should be

10:59Justin Davis:able to eat candy for every meal. No, I mean, there's games where like balance and the menus are what the whole game is about. So I totally get it. It is always the first thing modded into any single video game. Yeah. It's like, yeah, you know, well, you know, there's games where you don't expect it. That might've had it back in the day. Like, I mean, ghost of Yote is an example of a game that's like, it's open world. You just pick up infinite plants. I don't know what you're supposed to do with them. I guess you make dyes. I never make any dyes. So it doesn't matter. but by the end of the game you have like infinite you know like you know i don't know ivy leaves in your inventory i'm really happy i didn't have to think about it once because i don't need them do you think does encumbrance as a number hit different than like inventory tetris that's kind of fun that's a little mini game of like i'm gonna rotate this thing and then i'm gonna that's like the puzzle in resident evil right it's like that's it that's what it's got going for it other than that it's just you know walking through rooms slowly well yeah but or stealing the tiger's gem in order to open the door in the police station but then you have to fit it your damn inventory yeah that's true um key key or grenade key or grenade yeah here's an example of the of the scenario this is so when you get to the second planet if you don't want to hear anything about what happens when you get to the second planet feel free to skip but this is still you know uh not not really spoilery to me uh this is what this is what i'm enjoying doing right now so you get to your second planet you're on the top top of this sort of big cliff look out you can see a settlement some kind or a base and as you're walking down it explodes this huge explosion it's in game it's not a cut scene it happened there in the environment it's pretty impressive you're like oh my gosh so when you get to where you're going they tell you there's this like refining refinement facility like a mining facility they somehow launched some like explosive material at this base and blew it up so you the most important person in the galaxy you need to go figure out what happens okay here i go how funny you go to the like the mining facility and it's in complete disarray.

12:54Justin Davis:No one is, everyone's admitting it. He said, yes, this happened, but we didn't do it on purpose. We don't know how it happened. Immediately after this thing was launched, this woman locked herself in a control room. She won't come out. So that's pretty suspicious. You go and talk to her. It's that lady, exact lady. And she's acting really, really suspicious. He's like, oh, I have no idea what happened. They think me, a little old lady did it. I would never do such a thing. So anyway, it's just an interesting scenario So it was sort of like mystery that you're like plugged right into right away on the second planet.

13:23Justin Davis:So that's what I was doing. In the classic kind of Obsidian slash Bethesda jank, do people's voices always come out a little bit surprising from their bodies? Yeah, sometimes. Oh, that's your voice? Yeah. And everyone, like it's a well-written game, but every single character in the game has very flowery language. Like no one, you don't run into anyone who just sounds dumb. Like everyone's super well-spoken. You can skip dialogue. You can skip dialogue. Yep. And you can skip it in the way where you hear them say like, but I was good. And then I locked my. And then. Yep. I love it. I love it. That's what has to happen.

14:00You have Yote does not have that. I know that's crazy. To this day, we're like three weeks into that game being out with with us talking about in game scoop every episode. And we still the momentum from our politicking has not made it quite to a game update. Doing that lack of flowery language. This is weird. but like I was so obsessed with Kingdom Come Deliverance and that's actually something I really like about that game. Like for the first several hours, I would have described it. I'm like, this game has really bad voice acting, but I really came around out of it. It just feels like two people talking.

14:31Like a character is just like, oh, hi. And you're just, I'm so not used to a game like being that way. Well, didn't that game have American accents for Fantasy II, which that's jarring always? No. That was avowed. Yeah. Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry, avowed. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that was avowed. KCD is like sort of Eastern Europe. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's right. That's right. No, no. I was confusing the two. Yeah. No, in about it is really funny. People are like, my house is full of witches. It's like, that's not what it should sound like.

14:59Justin Davis:And then that was also the Envoy Envoy game. Yeah. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. That's also one of the Ten Commandments. Fantasy characters have to speak in a British accent. We don't make the rules. And Star Wars. And I know our friends in other countries might not understand that that's how, you know, Americans should expect things and I don't really know what it sounds like I've seen the Simpsons in Spain and it sounds amazing but I don't know what what you know Lord of the Rings should sound like elsewhere yeah anyway the Outer Worlds 2 is is really really fun if you like if you like Fallout style games I think you will enjoy the Outer Worlds 2 does somebody need to check on Nick well he's still he's he he's right he's was expected right now right this very instance okay i was gonna i was gonna jump into our magazine so maybe we'll wait let's read let's do let's check in with the listeners first hey wait wait do you want to hear about what we're playing oh yes i do by all means are we doing that later apologies actually i hear someone i don't i don't even care about what i'm playing frankly i hear a rapping at our door too oh nice some the spirits are stirring it what what have you been playing i know you beat yote sam so what have you been playing are you forcing yourself to still play pokemon well yeah i don't I really want to talk about that.

16:10I'm doing that for work. Um, and yeah, it's, it's fine. It's fine. But, uh, no, I started playing, um, once upon a Katamari and we gave that game a nine. Wow. Which is like a really high score and it's, it's so good. It's a real return to form for Katamari. The form is like, you know, a big ball of junk, but it's re it's really, really funny. Uh, it has like kind of a Mario world, um, overlay on it where it has like an interesting explorable map and you go to different challenges and stuff around that. It just has a little bit more of a frame than usual, but it's still absolutely the exact same humor and it's this one type of batshit Japanese insanity.

16:53It's just so if you're used to it and know it's coming, it's like, whoa, there's a lot more of this out there and it's pretty cute. It must be fun for new players too, but yeah, it's back. It's really, really hard to put down yeah once you get going um it does hurt my hands a little bit now i'm like i'm like oh rolling the katamari around is kind of kind of frustrating and it's kind of like a bummer when you're just trying to turn through something and you clip through architecture which happens to me a lot but i did see there was another newer control scheme which doesn't have you doing

17:21Justin Davis:the tank controls so i might actually try that out cool yeah so there's that it's wild that this franchise is still still going well and i feel a little bad they're like this guy was like making his own stuff all the time, right? It's like Nobu Nobu Boy, the game about the shapes on a plane field. It's just like crazy stuff, right? It's like, is somebody making a Katamari game? I don't know. I hope everything's okay. This is a different developer. So Bandai Namco owns Katamari, but it's not a different team. You don't think that... So the creator, you don't think there's any involvement? Nope.

17:56I mean, I might be wrong, but I don't think so. And then it has these power-ups which is really nice. You get a magnet, you just suck everything inwards and all the themes and everything are great. It's great. So the other game I've been playing is I read that Metroid book, talked about it last week. A lot of good feedback from that book, actually. I'm happy people are excited for it. I hope you like it now that it's out this week. But I wanted to play Metroid Prime 2, which is only on Wii U and GameCube, technically. Those are the ways you can play it. Not easy to play. Um, I have a closet behind these, um, pinball machines, a storage space.

18:34So I have to move the machines, get out my tubs that are marked by era. Luckily I got out my Wii U. I hooked it up and I did not remember. And I got out my metric prime trilogy, which is like, I thought it'd be the coolest way to play it. Right. So the Wii U is like so funny to take out. Cause I was like, well, how does this thing have batteries now? Like, no, it has a wire that just goes to the wall. The game pad didn't remember that. You have to have the Wii sensor bar also said hook that up. So there's just wires everywhere already. Just like total chaos. And then get it all going and you have to switch to Wii mode and make sure your Wii and Nunchuck are working before it even allows you to start up the game.

19:15So I don't even know if you can play this with like a, I don't think you can. I don't think you can play it with like the GameCube controller for Smash Brothers or whatever. But I kind of missed that. I was like, oh, I love the Wii controls and they're good. they're they're legit good but like again like it's kind of exhausting like i had like a pillow under my hand i was like how did i how did i do this yeah you know you're just kind of always have your wrist aimed like slightly upwards towards the television yep and it's just really strange i like that you went through all that rigmarole and then in 10 days they're going to announce metroid prime 100 for the switch to 100 and i will probably have to review those and play a lot of this game over again so the the the thing i did immediately get drawn into metroid prime 2 a lot more than i remember liking it like it does feel like a good continuation of metroid prime it's all i want to play i'm playing games for work and i just want to play with metroid prime 2 so cool maybe that that i will be delayed by my own you know uh requirements to uh and then actually get to play the hd remake which has never been announced confirmed or anything although i I did write a little news story about how it is mentioned that the, uh, in the book that, um, the producer ton of it would really, really like to, uh, have more people experience the multiplayer mode if it was re-released.

20:33Hmm. Interesting.

20:34Justin Davis:Interesting quote. Yeah. I don't think that would, that mode would be the draw, but I never played prime two or three. Yeah. I mean, how cool would it be if you could just pop that up on your switch anytime you want? And like, you see it like, like, um, it shrunk down like this. and widescreen, like looks good. It looks pretty blurry when you play it on a different TV. So like a cleanup would be nice. Also two is where they started putting in like humans and you like you do like hear from them and see them moving around stuff. And it's like, like halo was doing a lot by this point. Right. And like this game ain't ain't doing that.

21:07So I just remember people starting to compare those, those series at this point and they, they really diverged.

21:11Justin Davis:Yeah. Cool. Justin just factorial. No, I've been, well, I've been sharing on the show lately. I've been playing a lot of games. Like I played Timberborn, the Beaver Town game, and then Against the Storm, like a lot of games with a bunch of little guys running around. And I'm on to a new one. I've been playing not the new Two Point game, which is Two Point Museum, but I've been playing Two Point Campus. Oh, cool. It was on sale on Steam for$3. And I said, look, like I don't make the rules. You have to buy it at that price. And it's incredible. I mean, look, like that developer, some of the principles of I think it's Two Point Studios is like the name of the company.

21:46and they're either owned by Sega or have a really close relationship with Sega. But it's a lot of the same people that made like Theme Hospital and like those old games. And they're just fantastic, fantastic little Sims. It's exactly what I like out of a Sim game, which is it's scenario-based. And so each college has a little bit of a different theme. Like, you know, you're making a clown college in this one and it's got to do like, one of them is like, you're making a wizard college and a bad wizard is like coming and putting curses on you. So it's like the same kind of stuff of like make a dorm and make bathrooms and then make the classrooms, but then a different twist on it for each scenario you want to go through.

22:25And it's great. I actually have nothing negative to say about it at all. Cool. Because they start with Two Point Hospital, right? Two Point Hospital is their first game. And then they did Campus Next, which I'm playing. And then Museum is their new one. and they usually do a cycle of like you know a year however long of DLC and they're still doing museum DLC and then we'll see what's next cool the fan community wants either theme park or zoo I'm going to continue filibustering have either of you watched The Chair Company yet?

22:58Justin Davis:I have not but I did watch two good movies over the weekend but I want to wait to the end I want Nick to weigh in on the issue

Capable device required. availability speed and coverage varies cement mobile.com so with that said before we get to our magazine let's check in with the listeners hey listeners listeners oh hi remember you can always reach us at the email address gamescoop at igin.com just like rob from detroit but living in sydney did okay and rob says omega geese in the previous episodes the camp demanded anecdotes for 20 questions i think i have a good one what are your favorite accidental halloween games meaning games not marketed as spooky, but are totally spooky.

25:59Justin Davis:On an unusually warm and muggy September afternoon in Detroit, my father drove me to Toys R Us so I could spend my allowance money on a video game. I chose a game that is still one of my favorites to this day. On the way home, the skies turned very dark. The clouds even seemed to swirl a bit. You could hear a low rumble of thunder in the distance. The lightning almost looked green. I could tell my dad was nervous. He was driving really fast. As we rushed into our house, the winds gushed and the skies opened up. I remember it being very hard to close the front door as the winds pushed against it.

26:27Justin Davis:I did not care. I ran up to my room, ripped open the box of the game I bought and played one of my favorite games to this day. Its art, atmosphere, music, and sound effects were flawless to the backdrop of the raging storm shaking the entire house. That game and my 20 questions suggestion is Ninja Spirit for TurboGrafx-16, which is a fantastic game. One of the best on TurboGrafx. I being the only one in Camp Goose that owned a TurboGrafx, I think it would have been challenging. Does your ninja wear a hat? Well, he wears a hood. isn't ninja spirit the one that came in like three arcade monitors no no no you're thinking ninja warriors okay yeah not not how could i have made that mistake yes how could you indeed uh and ninja i would say ninja spirit was the turbo graphics's ninja gaiden but the turbo graphics also got ninja gaiden so yeah it's just a great ninja game it's a it's a ninja to two of them so there's three of you jumping around the screen the screen ghost wolf yeah you also have a genre colon ninja yeah yeah very very ninja gaiden came to turbo graphics how was it was it like upgraded or was it just the same nobody knows crap yeah i mean it's i don't think i ever played that version but i remember like seeing screenshots it looking very similar only rich kids what happens who is this i hope in post we can just have nick materialize only rich kids had the turbo

27:52Sam Claiborn:graphics i had the turbo graphics i was not a rich kid dang no you just had a good taste they

27:58Justin Davis:could not they couldn't give them away nick so it was like it was like 80 or something how long ago after the turbo graphics did you get it i think i got it for christmas 90 or 91 so it was you know it was a year or two old at that point it was i had to have splatterhouse i don't remember being super expensive i thought it was pretty that's why i said they it was really cheap because

28:20Sam Claiborn:I guess when you're a kid, everything that isn't your console just seems like it's for like, only the rich kids have the Dreamcast. It wasn't a 3DO or a Neo Geo. Those are the expensive systems.

28:31Justin Davis:The Neo Geo was the real rich kid console. Whenever we look through these old magazines, we always see ads like, buy one TurboGrafx game, get a second one free. They couldn't get anyone to buy these. The spirits are like the greatest options. Exactly. That's what I meant to say. They're just like the greatest options. That's really smart. This game is awesome. It has giant bosses that take up the whole screen. And look how much money they saved in walking animations. Really smart. Anyway, Nick, welcome to the show. Thank you very much for having me. I'm back, baby. Nick, are you allowed to say what you were playing today?

29:01Sam Claiborn:Yeah, I was playing a bunch of Battlefield 6, the Battle Royale mode. Oh, that's right. I keep forgetting the name of it because it's like... RedSec. RedSec. Because I keep wanting to say DeadSec, which is a faction in Watch Dogs, I believe. and then i can remember it because i i thought i kept on hearing uh somebody that with the uh british accent our teams i thought they're saying red sick which also means something very different in british society but uh see a doctor it's very fun very fun i had a good time i played like 10 matches uh you're gonna see what do they what do they call it do they like it's not a chicken dinner what do they have a phrase for it if you win well unfortunately this is my biggest one so many games no my deepest shame i actually did not manage to pull a w in my my session this morning however you i am going to publish my gameplay video that i deem worthy of the ign youtube channel okay and i pop off in it as did the rest of my team we ended up getting six but it is just a very fun fast fluid uh battle royale in that i didn't really expect it to be this good i didn't play the previous battlefields battle royale mode just because I kind of fell off the game at that point.

30:09Sam Claiborn:This is launching within the launch window of Battlefield 6, which is pretty exciting. And the biggest difference between this and what I've played with all of my experience with the original Battle Royale for Call of Duty, Black Ops, and all that jazz is just a destructible environment. It's the battlefieldification of the Battle Royale. And again, just... Good for a Battle Royale. It's so fun. Like, you know, a squad of people is posted up on top of a building. It's like, well, what do we do? It's like, just blow it up. Yeah. And then you blow it up and people are forced to evacuate their position.

30:41Sam Claiborn:It's very cool. What's closing in on you? It's a ring of fire. Yeah, it's pretty cool. It kills you pretty instantly, right? There's not a long time that you can survive out there. And again, if you watch my gameplay video, that's going to publish at probably at the same time as this video tomorrow. Excellent gameplay of me escaping the firing using just my knife. But yeah, it's a good time. Very fun. And also, most people on IGN don't know how to pilot a helicopter, which leads to a lot of hilarity. We made a video for that. IRL? IRL and in-game.

31:14Justin Davis:Or in-game, yeah. And so maybe this is normal. I don't play these kinds of games. But it's free? You don't even have to own Battlefield 6?

31:23Sam Claiborn:That is correct. It is free to play. And if you own Battlefield 6, it's like a 38-gig update that you do to the game. And it gets implemented into the menu system. I don't know what it looks like if you are just a free-to-play adopter. but i imagine it's just the same menu with stuff grayed out um but yeah it's super convenient super smart and a great way to compete with cod and honestly it feels like it can actually go

31:44Justin Davis:i feel like there's more excitement for battlefield this year than yeah i mean maybe you know college is still a couple weeks away maybe that'll change i don't know yeah so you you can destroy buildings you said and and that that takes like some kind of hardware or can you just like minecraft it and go just just with your machine gun and take out every single little rafter just by shooting through them and then really meticulously working that out.

32:06Sam Claiborn:I don't think it's quite as fluid as something like Red Faction Armageddon or anything like that where you could really just go to town on a building. But I do think I haven't really tried with the sledgehammer because you can destroy a tank with a sledgehammer, which is kind of funny. But I usually use like C4 and RPG or some sort of missile tank thing to blow up the structures that I need to bring down a building. Or, you know, there's like a lot of classes have the ability to break down walls So if a team is just behind a cover, you can blow up that cover and expose them for your team to - Is there fall damage?

32:41Sam Claiborn:There is fall damage, but you do get the Call of Duty parachute, where if you fall from a certain distance, you can just instantly deploy a parachute, and it's very fun. So if your building is blowing up, you just jump off of it. Correct. But sometimes it's not as easy to deploy the parachute, and you will take a little bit of fall damage and leave you a little bit susceptible. Yeah, aren't you just a sitting duck? Easier than flying a helico.

33:00Justin Davis:A falling duck while you're in your parachute. Exactly.

33:02Sam Claiborn:You are a falling duck. but it's just very interesting a lot of the traversal mechanics like the i like to play as assault and the default equipment for an assault class is a deployable ladder that you can use both to get vertical or to cross gaps which i think is just very clever use of like a class based around this kind of destruction mechanic which is very fun cool cool there's a one of my favorite youtube channels is game makers toolkit they published a cool video recently on destructible environments in games and how it's done under the hood and the different types of destruction. Red Faction is still doing it better than most games to this day.

33:36They kind of fake it and some fake it in better, more interesting ways than others. Better than Donkey Kong? They do go over Donkey Kong in that video. They do talk about Donkey Kong, yeah.

33:46Justin Davis:Nick, we also talked about Adler Worlds 2 a bit. Have you played that one?

33:49Sam Claiborn:I played just a little bit. Made it through the tutorial and on Paradise Island right now, the first planet you go to. Really enjoying it. I felt kind of lukewarm on the Outer Worlds 2 going in. I liked the first one. I played it at launch, but God knows I wouldn't be able to tell you just about anything that happens in the game outside of the first planet where you have to decide between shutting down the power to the greenery or the still water, edge water, or whatever the name of it is. After that, it all kind of went fuzzy. But once I jumped into this, it's like, oh, man, this is exactly what I wanted the first game to be.

34:26Sam Claiborn:everything about this game is better and improved in every way shape or form and man i just love obsidian writing they're so fun they're so clever i like for a work thing i had to pick up like the premium edition of the game and as soon as you claim the dlc items there is a what is it a negative trait that you adopt and it's called consumerism and it's basically just saying hey you bought the super deluxe collector's edition of the game here's a negative perk if you want to take it or not and this game does a good job over the first one of these like traits have a beneficial side as well as a negative side whereas in the previous game it felt more like they were all negatives so this is a nice balance.

35:06Yeah I like it a lot too.

35:08Justin Davis:I'm on the second planet now. I think the second planet is even better than the first one. Nice. That's good. Anyway Rob his whole question was I think games that are not overtly horror games but are still spooky and a game that I usually try to play this time of year every year but have not gotten around to it yet is Shadowgate on the NES. Because, you know, not a horror game, but you're exploring a spooky castle. There's skeletons. There is a skeleton.

35:30Sam Claiborn:Are skeletons inherently scary?

35:32Justin Davis:I mean, everybody's got one.

35:34Sam Claiborn:Yeah, so why are they scary? Because they should be inside your body. That's true. Inside skeletons, not scary. The blood's not scary unless it's everywhere. They need, like, the elder... I feel like we need to see, like, a flesh atronarch really, like, make its way. Like, I was in Elder Scrolls. I feel like seeing muscle walking around is way scarier. Yeah. It's like saying, why is a werewolf scary? It's mainly just a man. Yeah.

35:58Justin Davis:You know what? I realized recently how to plus up a skeleton's scariness, and they do this in Evil Dead and Return of the Living Dead. If you give a skeleton eyeballs, it looks way scarier. Yeah, that's pretty good. It's like, whoa. That's pretty good. And Castlevania players will know, you just make them red, and then they're invincible. Yeah. Yeah. Resident Evil Remake, too. Yeah? Yeah. I guess those are zombies. The red zombies? Yeah. uh i don't know i don't have like i i'm very spooked by being underwater in sonic the hedgehog that's very claustrophobic that just makes me think of um mario 64 and hit the little animation when he like actually he's drowned like oh my god well and that eel like that's a very it's very like underwater in games is a very kind of claustrophobic you're moving slow you can't

36:44Sam Claiborn:get away you could drown yeah i think the sonic the hedgehog drowning combined with like the music that plays when you're trapped underwater is pretty horrible. I felt very validated. I was playing Sonic the Hedgehog 1 last Christmas break, I guess it was, and then my daughters from across the room were like, what is that noise that's so stressful? They couldn't see I was playing on a handheld. And I'm like, yeah, it is. This isn't just a gamer meme. This is a real thing. Be quiet. I need to save myself from drowning. Yep. So speaking of Mario, in Super Mario World, when you beat the world's gnarly, tubular, way cool, awesome, groovy, mondo, outrageous, and funky.

37:29Then you unlock a completely different pixel set, a sprite set. And some of those are Halloween pumpkins, kind of, for Koopas. And it makes the whole game into a Halloween version of Super Mario World. Such a funny Easter egg. What? I didn't know that. Yeah, if you beat the whole Star World, it changes. Come on, Damon. No. You know this. I don't think I did. Really? yeah I think you died oh you can turn Super Mario World into Halloween season yeah it has the spooky season it's like it's such a strange pseudo new game plus thing in Mario World I can't believe you just got all those Star World stages just off the dome by the way you just literally off the dome um I think like I one more sort of it's not not horror game but sort of gives you weird feelings is sometimes like first person puzzle games like missed or like I don't know they just give off a vibe of like you think maybe there's something behind you and watching you and then i think that's where amnesia and like actual horror games you know kind of came from adventure kind of became

38:27Sam Claiborn:horror yeah yes i mean this one's cliched but i think the pokemon series has some stuff in it that is really spooky like whether it be red or blue going to um what is it the there's ghost the ghost town the ghost town with the music um that one's really spooky and even i think it's a black and white or x and y i forget which one there's a uh like a battle that happens where there's a cut scene where there is just a character model that appears that is unaddressed there's like weird pov from this character model that appears it's implied that this character model is some sort of ghost entity that isn't acknowledged by the game in any way shape or form and i'm sure there's like a billion youtube videos about this phenomenon but it's just one of those things like that was weird and in the new pokemon one of the wild zones which are uh area where wild Pokemon coexist with humans in the city.

39:19Let me a city there. There's one that's a graveyard. And when you go into it, that's where like the ghost Pokemon first star. And there's like ghastlies going around, but there's also spiders. And I just think like every time a game has like, well, I mean, it started with Mario also, right? But it's like, I think it's so funny where it's like, there's a nice level and then a lava level, but there's also a ghost level.

39:38Sam Claiborn:Ghost levels are good. Very good. It's really funny.

39:42Justin Davis:I should just thought of the perfect example of this phenomenon non-horror games that are still spooky and we've talked about this before Bellatro it feels weird

39:50Sam Claiborn:there's no story at all to that game

39:53Justin Davis:and yet it just feels strange

39:55Sam Claiborn:it's very like Lynchian to some extent there's just some surrealism going on

40:00Justin Davis:it's like the slow music and the swirling background that goes from green to brown that's a good call because that's like Majora's Mask or like they were trying to do it with Link Link's Awakening to be like Twin Peaks and just kind of surreal. But really Majora's Mask is the one and it's really the masks, right? It's like the happy mask shop and like and freaking Link turn it into anything. It's just screaming. And yeah, the transformations are not happy, jolly transformations. It's just like body horror, like this child just screaming in agony. I love Nintendo 64 era just like horror attempts and try to be scary.

40:37even to the GameCube era, it gets a little jiggy. But anything that's like we saw at the time, it's like, whoa, that's a cool pattern of blood or whatever. You'll see it now. It's just like four squares on a gray square of red. It doesn't look good at all. It's very funny.

40:50Sam Claiborn:I mean, Super Mario 64, we talked about already, but the piano that comes to life in the Booz Mansion level, horrifying. And I still remember the sound of it. Bram, bram, bram, bram. Love that.

41:04Justin Davis:Sam, we talked about this on a forthcoming video, but in Ocarina of Time, one of the temples, is it the Shadow Temple? Yeah. There's like a torture chamber. Yeah. And there's blood all over the floor. It's like, what the hell? Miyamoto, are you okay? What's going on here? Yeah, at the bottom of the well has crazy torture stuff. I think the Shadow one does too.

41:23Sam Claiborn:How do you think the Hyrulean royal family won all these wars? It's a little known fact that if you put something at the end of your game, then you can just put whatever you want in there. You don't have to follow the SRB rules. Yep, that's true. Nobody will make it that far.

41:43Justin Davis:Okay, fun topic. Let's turn back the clock to, this is the November 1990 issue of Video Games and Computer Entertainment. Not one of the more popular magazines that we like to flip back on. It's not like EGM level, but I liked this magazine. Jobert, just let me know whenever we are good to go with this. You actually read this one at the time? I don't know about this issue, but I would get this. You know, I would beg, I would, you know, get my dad to, like, buy me this from the grocery store if I saw it. Elvira? Mm-hmm. So I'm really bummed, Damon. I could have set this up. I have an Elvira pinball machine right out of frame here.

42:19Of course.

42:21Justin Davis:Mistress of the Dark becomes Mistress of the Disc. Elvira has... Well, they tried. She has two classic pinball tables that are both inexplicably great. but it's party monsters and then the new one is good too it's called house of something uh yeah so they it's they've got a feature on games that go bump in the dark and they they do cover off on

42:41Sam Claiborn:a man that far legibility is a lot of these old a lot of these old magazines are like that it's like you're doing whatever they want to but you you're a little kid holding them right up to your face anyway yeah um these monster designs are really good and they're they're very reminiscent especially the one up there is basically just Slimer from the real Ghostbusters. I watched an episode of the real Ghostbusters cartoon on YouTube, like a full episode, and it was so good. And like all the lines written for, you know, the Peter Bakeman character are like supposed to be kind of like, you know, funny.

43:14And then they weren't bad. They weren't bad. But really, it's the monster designs in that show. I really recommend if you have you're sick of like the Ghostbusters movie and want to watch something spooky, like pull up one of those episodes. the one the boogeyman one is really famous that one it was like very scary for a bunch of kids um it's great but there's one about uh sawway or sam hain that is like just this big pumpkin god that comes and like collects all these spirits in new york city terrorizes it and it's every single monster is like custom made in it and looks so cool and you know it's it's a saturday morning cartoon like it looks really good for that great so yeah we have elvira on the cover along with

43:54Justin Davis:some original artwork and i love when these old magazines have the original artwork yep so if we turn the page we have an ad for uh uh castlevania 3 with some you know speaking of original artwork yeah very scary which also a couple things here looking at the box art i forgot how much emphasis they put on dracula's curse they de-emphasized castlevania 3 and you look at a glance it just seems like that also yeah yeah but the best part of this is the sweepstakes that they're running prepare to win a radical trip to Dracula's hometown. What? Yeah. Are you ready for a bloody good time in Transylvania?

44:26Justin Davis:We'll send you there to see the legendary Dracula's castle and haunting grounds if you win this one-week, all-expense-paid, bone-chilling grand prize trip for four during Halloween 1991. So you know every 10-year-old boy is like sick, and then whoever won got sent to like Eastern Europe, and I was like, oh no. Okay, so the website TimeJump actually looked into this a couple years ago.

44:49Sam Claiborn:there's no evidence that anyone actually won yeah i mean transylvania so it's romania yeah which i

44:56Justin Davis:know from reading this time jump article if this was 1990 the previous year there was a revolution in in they overthrew the communist government and the former communist leader and his wife were executed yeah now they're gonna say oh my god i mean probably cheaper to try i wonder who orchestrated that oh yeah i thought that was great um and my emulation was it said it was count dracula well yeah um so uh so the sweepstakes are addressed to milwaukee wisconsin which i just think is funny but um the uh usually there was a cash equivalent payout for stuff like this i mean sometimes there are jerks and they're like it's a penny but like the fine print says uh the trip is worth fifteen thousand dollars or you can take five thousand dollars cash fifteen thousand dollars in 1991 money that's pretty good i know i know yeah or five thousand i mean so i think that's like uh yeah that's almost certainly what happened here uh secondary winners will receive konami's castlevania and simon's quest video games or the original dracula video cassette cool so i know we're gonna talk about movies later and i want i'm gonna go see frankenstein tonight but speaking of sweepstakes winnings um uh guillermo del toro was on npr's fresh air this this week and he talked all about how his dad won the lottery when he was a kid and he wouldn't see see humans or he wouldn't see adults for like weeks at a time.

46:18Wow. Because he just lived in this big house with everything provided to him. And, uh, it was an insane story. And then his dad got kidnapped for a ransom. It's my God. It's fascinating stuff. Whoa. Like it's, it's really interesting. It's, it's heavy and interesting, but yeah, check it out. Like he, I, I, I know everybody probably knows all this because he was talking about it like everybody knows all this weird, but Terry gross kept him. Like he was like, he's like, oh yeah. You know, we had a pet line and a pet eagle. She's a hold on. you had a pet lion you know like stuff like that was happening cool I can't wait to see Frankenstein

46:51Justin Davis:yeah I want to see that a lot too and my wife will go see that one with me for Jacob Elordi specifically on the next page is an ad for the NES game Mendel Palace which is not a remarkable game at all not a game that they wanted to even show a screenshot of but what I love about this ad is this little photo in the corner two player mode the camera's like from the tv's point of view looking at these two people two player mode also is that mom and son maybe sure maybe that's great and that's i think those are master system i was gonna say those are not nes controllers and this is an nes game so i think

47:30Sam Claiborn:mendel's palace might actually be one of the first games from like satoshi tajiri of pokemon fame It was a Hudson Soft game.

47:38Justin Davis:So, I don't know. An unremarkable game. On the next page is an ad for the Sega Genesis game Dando, which, nope, that's not a game that ever was released for the Sega Genesis. Never came out. Looks like an anime game. Coming soon to your Genesis system, a quest of steel, sweat, and guts. No, hold on. Coming soon to your Genesis system. There's three exclamation points. It'd be weird if we didn't get a... I mean, what if that's an RPG that we never got? Yeah.

48:08Sam Claiborn:I mean. This looks like a game I would have been into. I mean, yeah. Yep. There's a parallel universe where, you know, there's a different president, and then we're all talking about how Dando is like, we're like arguing over whether it should be. It's my chrono trigger. Yeah, exactly.

48:22Justin Davis:Dando. The next ad is great. We've looked at this ad before, but not when Nick is here. So I knew he would appreciate this.

48:28Sam Claiborn:Hell yeah.

48:29Justin Davis:Godzilla for Game Boy. He's stunting on everyone. It's so good. It says, I'll be back on Game Boy. Why is Godzilla saying, I'll be back? Yeah. His famous catchphrase. Yeah. And why is Game Boy in quotes? I'll be back on Game Boy. This is great. Yeah. It's really, really cool.

48:49Sam Claiborn:Isn't it like a Sokoban game?

48:51Justin Davis:It's a puzzle game. Godzilla box puzzle game? It says, destroy all rocks and advance to the next scene. Cool. And Manila is Baby Godzilla? Minya. Yeah, that's like Baby Godzilla. but it also it says somewhere among 64 screens minia is confined that's such a weird way to

49:08Sam Claiborn:point you gotta play 64 levels i don't know what you have what your problem is is that how you always spell minia trademark uh yeah wow yeah that would have been so disappointing though buying a godzilla game and just realizing it's a box pusher especially when you when you loaded

49:25Justin Davis:the game up and you got this bitch in title screen yeah that's such a well-rendered godzilla on Game Boy. Yeah, it is. I bet this game is great anyway, though. I mean, I love me a box puzzle game. I feel like I played it. Who do you play as? Who's the character? You're a cutesy... You're a chibi Godzilla. Looking for his son. I mean, this looks fantastic. Yeah. I think the game's fine. It's a really goofy ad. The next ad is for Ikari Warriors on the Atari 7800. Oh, not the Atari. It's wild that they ported this to 7800. But also, the boys are making house calls? What does that even mean?

50:00Sam Claiborn:That means they're coming from the arcade to your home. Yeah, but...

50:04Justin Davis:But, like, in order for this to make any sense, the boys would be after referring to someone who's a household name. Yeah. Right? Not the Akari Warriors. And they're making house... It doesn't make any sense. No. And then I like the copy up at the top. It's describing, you know, ammo is running low. Yes, war is hell, but you can handle it. One of the new games for Atari 7800. Oh, good. Of all the games for the Atari 7800, Ikari Warriors is one of them.

50:30Sam Claiborn:If you're a man enough.

50:31Justin Davis:If you're a man enough to try it.

50:35Sam Claiborn:Great face on this guy. This guy.

50:38Justin Davis:Ikari means angry in Japanese, and he looks pretty angry. Can you put that face on that display thing you were wearing earlier? It'd be great. The next ad is specifically for this show, a computer game. What? Yep, Riders of Rohan. I've never heard of this. I know, I hadn't either. but you know not only is this a bionic commando podcast and a final fantasy one podcast it's a lord of the rings podcast just always especially as it gets look at that or think rendering down there that's so cool what kind of game is it yeah i don't know what does it say i don't know are you

51:08Sam Claiborn:here it looks like a city builder it looks like a side by side yeah like or like a dos strategy game like this never came out it's like act razor but lord of the rings this is why i i loved i was

51:20Justin Davis:so enamored with computer games even though we didn't have a computer i would look at this these box art in the store and be like oh my god these games yeah how is this a thing this looks like a whole world i could live in you know it's like it reminds me of total war is what it reminds me of with like the and then you can't get your auto exec bat file to load no yeah you just start deleting files on dad's computer sound blaster 16 is just boot up anymore gone maybe it's like one

51:43Sam Claiborn:of those pc games that has just a slew of different mini games in it yeah yeah from spinnaker did this

51:50Justin Davis:ever come out? Spinnicker, who knows? Whatever processing they did on the snapshots of the graphics make it look incredible. Okay, we get into reviews. They reviewed, speaking of, Final Fantasy

52:02Sam Claiborn:1 for NES,

52:04Justin Davis:which they gave graphics and sound a 7, playability a 9 and overall an 8.

52:11Sam Claiborn:Playability a 9 is crazy and the graphics a 7.

52:16Justin Davis:But this blurb says, Nintendo has shown its ability to construct high-quality involving role-playing games, a growing genre, and its latest, Final Fantasy, follows the formula well. They didn't make that game. What? The writers of this magazine in 1990 thought Nintendo made Final Fantasy? I mean, they put a lot behind it. They put an entire strategy guide out. They published. But they didn't publish the game. It's crazy. No, but they might as well have. I like that they published here. They include the price of the game. So it retailed for$42.99. Oh, okay.

52:47Sam Claiborn:the game where you had to buy one potion at a time oh yeah you wanted a 99 of them you're gonna be there a while yeah listen to that cool in music play good game still holds up also has Motoya's cave in it one of the all time bangers

53:02Justin Davis:oh yeah I love Final Fantasy 1 this game isn't off the charts for me yep 11 out of 10 off the charts the next page is an ad for NARC on NES which I only included because later on in this issue there's like a NARC ripoff that I'd never heard of. Oh, no. I thought it was cool. And I like how... Is it called Cran? Is it NARC backwards? I love the arcade game, NARC, but I like how in this ad they had to include Just Say No. Where is it? There it is. Oh, okay. That's how they could maybe avoid people being upset about the game coming to NES, maybe.

53:37Sam Claiborn:Yeah. I mean, that wasn't a lot of just like arcade-like splash screens, right? The Just Say No stuff.

53:42Justin Davis:Yeah, yeah. just to sort of get the government off their back I think there's also like the there's like some kind of FBI message on some of them

53:52Sam Claiborn:so crazy isn't that like a Nancy Reagan implementation probably

53:57Justin Davis:she's just saying now Justin skip the next page that's the second part of the Final Fantasy review to go to the Pictionary NES ad I know you like board game and game show NES games it's incredible yeah Pictionary is really really hard to play but this is an amazing ad this is an amazing ad the first NES game for any family including you know you the cool kid your yuppie dad your biker grandma your punk cousin and then your whatever popular girl older sister yeah popular girl there's three game controllers in here holding by the player grandma and then a dog at the bottom again they're not NES controllers they don't know what

54:37Sam Claiborn:that's a cool dog yeah He's wearing sunglasses. That's how you know.

54:42Justin Davis:Zoom in on the middle screenshot down there, they had to guess and draw, I guess, a noose. It's a noose. I wouldn't have included that in the screenshot. I know, I was just like, wow, okay. It's inadvertently spooky. Perfect for game spook. Then they reviewed Dragon Warrior 2. Didn't really like that one. They gave a sound a four, graphics a three, playability a six, and overall five what yeah silly americans well i mean if we're doing relative scores to final fantasy i think that's pretty accurate sure for ease maybe not for three or four it's two certainly

55:21Sam Claiborn:better than one but i know one is you know the one they did not they did not have a price for dragon warrior two um we can skip the next page they review ease books one and two of course they

55:31Justin Davis:love that one sound give it got a 10 of the uh playability and overall a nine playability and

55:38Sam Claiborn:nine's great i love those games but man you need like a strategy guide and a half to to figure out

55:43Justin Davis:some of the stuff in those games and then the next page jobert is a double add for circus caper and godzilla for dns from toho for circus caper from the company that brought you godzilla comes most fascinating game ever with no attribution to that quote most circus scaper for any sam would you call it most fascinating game ever i didn't need to call it that because they already did this is there's a lot of toho in this magazine yeah that's also it's a very funny quote it's like it's not like it's a funny adjective because it's like it's not best game or most fun game or thrilling game most fascinating will be perplexed you go huh that's like Spock looking at a game that he doesn't want to play fascinating so on the next page we get into the games that go bump in the night and look at the year's most chilling software great cover oh man this is awesome so they start out with the game that they lead off with is a game that never existed British writer director Clive Barker the hottest young talent in the Hordid marketplace makes his video game debut with Color Dreams NES version of Hellraiser nope nope nope that never came out but imagine imagine a hell riso game on NES though from color dreams yeah which is aren't they like that would have been great isn't the bible adventure color dreams it became bible focused

57:06Sam Claiborn:wow well that's a real turn yeah it's a real turn of heart huh wisdom tree or a hellbound heart one might say yeah

57:14Justin Davis:they talk about nightbreed coming to computers I saw nightbreed in theaters but don't remember anything about it two examples in the most popular chills and chuckles approach talking about movies are the Ghostbusters and Gremlins films both original movies were big hits with sequels released during the past year and both are also the subject of electronic games I guess I didn't realize Ghostbusters 2 and Gremlins 2 were the same year while Activision's Ghostbusters was a major success in numerous computer and video game formats becoming one of the few electronic games to sell over a million total units the Gremlins property didn't fare so well gremlins was developed by atari for its then new 7800 game machine and when it flopped this excellent game got lost in the shuffle so apparently there's an excellent gremlins game for the 7800 there's a terrible gremlins game the gremlins 2 game on the nes people really like gremlins 2 i think i think it has because i think it's sunsoft yeah and it has a great soundtrack it does have a great soundtrack i mean i okay i'm being mean when i say it's terrible that's a game that i actually had growing up and my memory is you know wow the first two you play the first two levels of that game over and over for your entire childhood and then you can't beat a boss and then that's it.

58:23That's how that's every NES game.

58:25Justin Davis:It really ramps up. They talk about Gremlins 2 on the next page. The new batch from Sunsoft is a multi-directionally multi-directionally scrolling contest in which Gizmo must save the world from his cousins, the malevolent Gremlins. This time the scaly little fun seekers have broken into a genetics research facility and used the laboratory's designer to forge an entirely new breed with power is probably just describing the movie you gotta get married to a gremlin yeah that's how the game well they now next they talk about another game that never came to nes perhaps the most intriguing of the new movie-based horror games deals with not one but two of the hottest monsters of the decade activision's alien versus predator for the nes whoa nope not a thing what

59:06Sam Claiborn:well how do they have been cool i mean yeah dude that's what makes it so creepy these games never existed yeah i know what happened to these how many of these cool like the hellraiser nes came does that code exist anywhere? I'm going to research that as soon as I get home. I wonder if there's an alpha prototype out there. It's all lost media, man.

59:23Justin Davis:Bones me out. They talk about Elvira's game. What else did they go in here? Look at the screenshot on the next page, Jobert. An electronics art game called Escape from Hell. Look how badass this skeleton is.

59:38Sam Claiborn:That's how you make a spooky skeleton.

59:41Justin Davis:Are you kidding me? The guy said he won something spooky. they could just call something escape from hell back then yeah ea ea put out a game called escape from hell i mean they also put out the immortal around the same time too and that game rips all right the next game is this narc ripoff called crime wave i thought you were gonna say cran so close and if you look zoom in on the screenshots it looks exactly like narc it's like the same like photo uh they're on the right side of the screen there yeah we like that okay the the digitized photo uh you know characters the digitized photo looks so good yeah cool anyway that's called crime wave did that come out for pc uh the next page what other games oh yeah monsters in action so they do abadocs for the nes which is like kind of like it's guts it's got guts guts body horror stuff.

1:00:35Justin Davis:Psygnosis says something called Blood Money. The plague, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Oh, yeah. Mutation is a popular subject these days from comic book characters like X-Men and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to computer games like Dead East Werewolf. And it's funny, Angry Video Game Nerd just put out a video on Werewolf yesterday. Oh, wow. It's very funny. Oh, really? Yeah, you should check that one out. He did not have fun playing Werewolf. No, it's not fun. Or NES. It's kind of his whole thing to be fair. that's true frightmare weird dreams these are all p uh pc games then they get to dr chaos for the nes which that's a real bad that's a real bad what what's what's the thing about elvira why is why is elvira on the cover what's the disc oh well it was a computer game so i kind of skipped over it but she had some kind of i think it's like an adventure game actually i think there are a couple of those finally the suggestively titled splatterhouse from nec for the turbo graphics 16 uses an old Cinematic Wheeze.

1:01:32Justin Davis:The player character and his girlfriend arrive at a haunted house. Spider house. We all know Spider house. Cool. Oh, and then finally, another NES game that didn't come out. Players who want to break from high-intensity terror might cast a bloodshot eye on Drax Night Out. A light-hearted look at the monsters of our fears. Blah, blah, blah. This Parker Brothers game for the NES is actually a joint promotion with Reebok. Whoa. A joint promotion with blank and say, Justin, you get a thousand guesses who is this a joint production with Parker Brothers and Reebok I thought that Drax Night Out was like one of the titles they were going to bring the baby Dracula game that Konami made Kid Dracula, this is exactly what I was thinking

1:02:15Sam Claiborn:great game, Kid Dracula rules

1:02:17Justin Davis:the next page is an ad for the Game Boy game Heyankyo Alien oh wow, very expensive game now the copy just says, hey alien which I guess because the game kind of sounds like hey, hey, but again, well, I'm really to the alien. We're the aliens. Yeah, that's true. I have this complete in box.

1:02:37Sam Claiborn:I think that's worth a lot of money, Sam. I know it's worth a lot of money. The company that made this called Meldak. First of all, first of all, they played, they made zombie nation. Wow. So, you know, I, I'm one of the world's foremost Meldak and Mel Mac experts. Mel Mac is the planet that Alf came from. but yeah somebody i know had given me this like tub of games and it was every single meldac uh game boy game wow on basically they were not in shrink but they were like felt like they were unopened and un messed with and i don't know where they came from what the providence was but somebody

1:03:16Justin Davis:had knew somebody at meldac that's awesome yeah that's rad cool the next page is an ad for the Game Watch newsletter, which is, you've heard about 50 to 100 games in one cartridge. 1:04:43Sam Claiborn:Yeah. I think you got to start a GameScoop newsletter that gives everyone the underground news. Yes, oh I should. We're going to pull no punches. All the cheap games, how to get$2 games.

1:04:54Justin Davis:I'm going to set up a 900 number and it's only going to be$10,$10 per call. I like that it's not pre-recorded messages, it just goes straight to your phone. Hello? GameWatch Newsletter Incorporated is located in Omaha, Nebraska. How would anybody there have inside information on the gaming industry? yeah that's the that's exactly it i mean you wouldn't suspect look that list of games besides whatever super mario invisible fancy i don't there's a missing comma there but those are real games you know i mean well i don't know about this is just someone wholesaling and importing games and like you know or or is it like they are trying to make a publication about import games that's like they played them in japan so they're trying to exploit that these games were already out in Japan so they can tell Americans about them?

1:05:44Sam Claiborn:Maybe it's like one of those mom and pop shops that would just have import games that you'd spend an arm and a leg for. I think so. I mean, they're selling a publication, not games, right?

1:05:55Justin Davis:It's some kind of information on how to get cheap games. Anyway, the next page is an ad for a magazine called Turbo Play, which would focus on the TurboGrafx-16. And it says, free issue, it says, not sold in any stores. yeah neither was the TurboGrafx-16 and then the next page is something from this own magazine they set up I think it's like an online chat message board or something no way it says need some hot game tips tired of waiting for video game news ooh and it says I want to I want to get to the page is it the next page it says want to find other hot players to talk to

1:06:38Sam Claiborn:that's been something different back then right

1:06:41Justin Davis:yeah you can do all this and more in the world of video games the new connection on the delphi online network whoa wow huh 1990 november 1990 yes see you see you online it says at the bottom that was like pre the standardization of like dub dub dub like you know because what there is like there were different there were different networks yeah i love it want to find other hot players to talk to the next page is for uh three games from who the american game cartridges chiller death race and crossbow cool course chiller is you know at the time shockingly graphic gory shooter game but um crossbow is was an arcade game this would never come to the nes another one of those but sam i had no idea death race was actually ported to nes this actually came out i have it yeah it's in a light gray cartridge i had no idea and it's upgraded to have like not just black and white graphics it's like it's its own nes game it's great i had no idea that was really cool and that's it that's all i've got for this issue of video games and computer entertainment that was a great issue it was really good very spooky yeah no kidding i'm glad there was a whole halloween theme to it too yeah really good i gotta check

1:07:54Sam Claiborn:out that hellraiser game and find out what happened that's really cool i love hellraiser would that even look i was just looking up delphi online i mean like that's nuts i mean i don't i'm so unaware of like forums that were pre-internet yeah yeah in the original hellraiser pin has pinhead

1:08:09Justin Davis:has like three minutes of screen time yep they didn't and then he's pretty chill in that first movie and then he blew up and they're like oh he's the main character oh okay put him in more of the sequels okay are you serious that's how that works in hellraiser yeah i've never seen that That's funny. That's the same with the shark in Jaws. Yep. That's true.

1:10:57Justin Davis:Extracurricular activities. I saw two very good movies over the weekend. I finally watched Weapons because it's on HBO now. You like that, huh? Oh, I loved it. Yeah, it's great. Okay, yeah. So follow up from what, Ryan? No, Zach.

1:11:11Sam Claiborn:Krager's. Jack Craigers

1:11:12Justin Davis:who did Barbarian which is also a very good movie everyone should check that out you've seen Weapons yes anyone else Sam Justin no it looks stressful I'm not going to spoil anything it's just a great movie my experience with Weapons was that they played the trailer in front of Superman which I took my family to and then it's like my daughter's like yeah that's funny

1:11:35Sam Claiborn:it's a good time

1:11:37Justin Davis:yeah I don't want to spoil anything but I do have a I have one nitpick about it maybe uh nick that i'll i'll ask you about afterwards sounds good where it's streaming on hbo it's on hbo yeah oh it's great it's very fun very very yeah it yeah you see this the premise is much more uh uh darker dark sounding than the movie ends up being we'll say that okay yep and then i also saw one battle after another also excellent yeah that was really really good um good movie have you seen that one jason nope it's really good dude the last 45 minutes of that are a great terminator sequel yeah dude sean pin is great in it that's one of his i i could see him getting best actor for that that's got to be one of his career best performances um caprio's great too i mean everyone's great yeah everyone's great in it it's like a really long tense thriller action sequence it might be the only pca movie i like actually now that i think about really not a big fan the only what oh yeah oh the director yeah not boogie nights yeah imagine you i mean i like boogie nights but that's not like a movie of his right like it's a movie he made before he started doing his like regular nonsense it was it was good i mean yeah it's just what was the last one called licorice pizza i like i hate that movie yeah i haven't i haven't even seen it i like the master as well it should be good i like there will be blood i like there yeah that one's pretty good i did like there would be blood this was better than that though i thought i liked punch junk love but i only ever saw it one time in a minute anyway one battle after man those shots with going over the streets for so long that was really cool very very interesting take on like a tense chase scene i really like that yeah yeah also i don't i don't understand the timing of this.

1:13:26Justin Davis:They had to be shooting this two years ago, wrote it three or four years ago, and it came out. It's so relevant to exactly right now. It's like, what? How did this happen?

1:13:35Sam Claiborn:It's based on a Thomas Pynchon novel from the 60s, which also has a lot of very relevant politics to this day.

1:13:42Justin Davis:Oh, also Benicio del Toro.

1:13:44Sam Claiborn:He's fantastic. He's so good. Just a few small beers. Yeah. Just a few small beers. Oh, my God, yeah.

1:13:51Justin Davis:Okay, anyway. Those are good. any other extracurricular activities to share well i do think the chair company is fantastic oh yeah and and it's really really good and actually has like i mean it's the same stuff like you're gonna you're gonna watch you know i still need to watch friendship due to robinson yeah um but it's a it's a little bit more plot driven interesting stuff like i i guess what would you compare it to nick like what it's it there's like a mystery show more and more than three days of the condor

1:14:21Sam Claiborn:combined with an I think you should leave bit. It's like just a spy thriller with I think you should leave. Yeah. There's like a lot of like you shouldn't have looked under the stone type stuff. It's really good. The trailer makes me think of being John Malkovich where it's kind of funny but unsettling. He definitely plays a more like straight man approach in it. He has his moments of zaniness but it's a little bit of a different flavor of Tim Robinson. I mean you can tell like he'll like deliver a line three times and the director will be like, you can't say it that way. And you'll say it even goofier.

1:14:53And the director will laugh and be like, let's keep that one. Like sometimes the line delivery, it's only from him. Everybody's a straight man, but him, you know?

1:15:02Justin Davis:Yeah. And then he plays a straight man. That's very strange. So this show and friendship is why we haven't gotten a season four of, I think you should leave, right? Yeah. But that could drop any time just out of nowhere, right? Like it's always surprising when that happens. Friendship is also good. I finished Gen V and I thought it was a good lead into the next boys season uh with a with a tease the whole season that didn't come come to fruition so i thought that was good i liked season one haven't gotten season two yet i also uh checked out the chainsaw man movie which is in theater which is fantastic you do need prior knowledge of the

1:15:35Sam Claiborn:series because it is the next continuous arc of the overarching story but chainsaw man by far is i think my favorite comic book new like thing that's come out in the last decade i think it is the creator is just punching well above his weight in terms of creating something that is truly phenomenal in terms of the impact it's going to make on the art world and the things that it's going to go on to inspire. And I cannot sing the praises of the manga and the anime enough. This is just fantastic. And they make great use of their budget to do something that could only be done with a movie budget. Yeah, like theatrical anime is like a whole thing, right?

1:16:15Yeah.

1:16:15Sam Claiborn:And this does not do what my problem is with the Demon Slayer movies, which has made a billion dollars by this point. Not quite, but a lot. Is that Demon Slayer is just eight episodes of the anime that have all been stitched together with a really high budget. It's beautiful. But man, it is just insufferable pacing. I'm sorry, Demon Slayer fans. I don't think that manga is very good. But Chainsaw Man is just impeccable. Impeccable. Wonderful movie. Cannot wait for people to continue to check this series out. it's so good is the series just on crunchy roll uh it's on netflix i believe that would be perfect yeah um the yeah it's great it's very a lot more chill than what a thing would be called chainsaw man might sound like but there's some great action in this movie just oh it's so cool i don't want to go looks like a damey damey show i should i think it is i think in the conversation with something like dan to dan in terms of like how over the top it is love done done i i do have to call it one other thing.

1:17:16The new Futurama season is fantastic. And I have not cared about Futurama since, you know, what, I don't know, 2003? Was it since it went off the air the first time? Yep. Every time it's come back, I've given it a shot. It's not had the same writing, and it's just not been the same, not felt the same. The new season is absolutely fantastic. It feels like Simpsons, you know, square in the zone, great Matt Groening cartoon stuff. I don't know what changed, but it's great. And I didn't expect it. I was watching it with, with my wife and we're like, you know, like, there's nothing else to watch. Let's try this out.

1:17:49And immediately sucks you in the first episode. There's like some good plot stuff and it's good. It's really, really interesting twist in that first episode. Second episode is fantastic and it just gets better and better and better. And it just, it feels like a reboot almost. And they introduce a bunch of new, instead of using the same stock of characters, which get old, there's a bunch of new stuff in the season and it's really good. I I'm so happy with it. I'm really happy. It feels back.

1:19:22All right.

1:19:22Justin Davis:That brings us to video game 20 questions. Our suggestion this week comes from Gilbert from Rancho Cucamonga, California.

1:19:30Sam Claiborn:That's where I'm from. Do you know Gilbert?

1:19:32Justin Davis:I do not know Gilbert.

1:19:33Sam Claiborn:Maybe I do. I was going to say, don't be too hasty. Are we allowed to cheat this week by asking about three decades in one? Because people are real mad about that. by people i mean one person one person yeah we found i you know i love i love the passion i love

1:19:49Justin Davis:the passion there's there's some people that take somebody was like 20 questions very seriously if it's from the last century i don't see what the difference they're just asking a different it's also it's if we wanted to cheat at 20 questions we discovered on like episode three of 20 questions that if we just do letter of the letters of the alphabet we could have it narrowed down to uh the letter in like six questions and so you could also there's there's some gentleman's rules at play does it start with a letter from the first half of the alphabet yeah you're locked in and like three questions yep yeah does i we also i mean i know there's the implication there that they're asking about three genres thing is too goofy but hey i will tell you this it doesn't help us at all it makes it so much worse it makes it so much worse we're just doing that stuff to have more fun playing and we hope you have fun by having watching us struggle because trust me if we really wanted to solve this it'd be really boring every week yep um gilbert doesn't have an anecdote just about mispronouncing things talking about that's required nick brought up how um uh it's like it's actually pronounced titus in final fantasy 10 but everyone just says titus um they're asking about other things like cat sith uh what's the earthbound gigas gigas gigas yeah yeah yeah yeah he was just asking about that so the only the only thing i could really think of and i i just think dis disgaea it's like it's not really spelled disgaea but it would be like disgaea but i think everyone just says this i mean ryu and ryu when we were kids yeah ninja

1:21:22Sam Claiborn:gated ninja guy i mean when i was a kid i pronounced it anime so i didn't know it was

1:21:26Justin Davis:called anime oh wow that's pretty good yeah anyway got our question or game from gilbert so

1:21:35Sam Claiborn:oh my is venom in the room is that a venom or is that from mario what this is just it's just a it's from china uh is this a spooky game um yeah yes yes yeah well this is sweet i would forgot to ask that i'm really happy you asked that this game have uh like does it have skeletons running around uh no skeletons no does it have ghosts no ghosts what the heck how's this spooky i mean i mean could have zombies would you call this game gory yeah yeah if it's that gory no ghosts no skeletons but spooky does this game have 3d graphics yes that's five we're looking at manhunt i think no he wouldn't have been equivocating the suffering have we had the suffering yet no i didn't know that's the prison one is this a game where you discover that the true enemy is man no maybe it is zombies then so you're not it's not manhunt you're not fighting people or ghosts or skellies are the thing do you fight something in this that is undead or technically not dead, but should be dead?

1:22:51Justin Davis:Hmm.

1:22:53Sam Claiborn:Dinosaurs are included in that. That's an eschatological question.

1:23:00Justin Davis:You've asked seven questions. I need to check. We're going too fast. It can't be Frankensteins. Yeah. No Draculas. I mean, demons are still on the table. Zombies are still on the table. Zombies are undead. Like when we interviewed the Toru Yutani about the ghosts and Pac-Man, he's like, they're not that kind of ghost. They didn't, they didn't die at some point. They're ghosts like Kami, which are spirit. Yeah. That's a, I broke that news. That's really cool. I didn't know that.

1:23:31Sam Claiborn:That rocks. Yeah. I guess I'd never given one ounce of thought to like, what were the Pac-Man ghosts when they were living? What sad cursed existence are they living? Okay.

1:23:44Justin Davis:I, I, understand now okay let's continue did you ask the question yet well we asked if it was did you answer a question yet nope not undead so demons maybe demons maybe monsters or just sick people right no that's the thing sick people are zombies yeah it could be sick people

1:24:07Sam Claiborn:something that could be classically called like a zombie I suppose well we know it's 3D 3d gory potentially demons go uh glory though it's throwing me off is this a third person game yes

1:24:28gosh does it take place in like the contemporary times to when it ever came out yes that's 10 could be lollipop maybe it's all yeah wait are zombies allowed still is that is zombies that are infected could be dirt or except for that now I'm stuck on zombies even though it's probably not zombies yeah me too

1:24:523D was this a console exclusive yes whoa I didn't expect that this is what we get for goofing around for the first 8 questions what question is that that was 11 do we have time to narrow it we have to narrow down the console are these cordyceps people dead yeah it could be last of us that's a good point i think it's probably the last of us is it exclusive to a playstation console yes oh man it might be last of us or days gone but that's those are zombies aren't they what do they call them they call them

1:25:23Sam Claiborn:a freak freakers right and then you your buddy boozer kills helps you kill the freakers sorry i just love his name is boozer um wait did we establish that they're zombies or not zombies is that off the table we said not undead not undead so i think infected zombies are still on the table is this does this game start uh either a sad dad or a murder daughter no might be days gone he's not a sad dad he's just a widow but they're just straight up zombies in that game right they're dead well i don't know what's i don't i didn't play days gone are the freakers dead or are they infected with some sort of rage virus?

1:26:05Sam Claiborn:I know it was at one point a Last of Us spinoff game so I would assume that there's some form of the living. Did this game ship originally for the Playstation 3 console? No. That's at 14? Yep. Is this a did this ship on PS4? No. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Now I'm scared. If we go all the way back to PS1 it could be the Parasite Eve. could be something like that we we know it's a gory game that's exclusive to a playstation console that's kind of all we know and that it's and that it's third person parasite eve does have not the undead they are i don't know why that one mitochondria i don't think it's actually parasite but like that for some reason that jumped into my head as it often does good game wait what do we eliminate ps3 ps4 yes so ps1 ps2 and ps5 is it exclusive to the ps1 or ps2 yes oh boy i didn't realize it'd be an old-timey game okay i was thinking much more recent so i mean look this could be resident evil like those were exclusive to the ps1 that's zombies though yeah those are traditional zombies there's also those dogs i guess they're zombie dogs what about the dinosaurs i'll bring those up again dino crisis could be dino could be dino crisis i uh what are we at how many questions 16 what if would you guys be pissed if i asked if this is a survival horror game no is this a survival horror game no what rip oh huh that was a good question i don't know i mean that does leave parasite eve on the table oddly enough no i mean it's a survival horror no it's an rpg there's survival horror elements in it i would absolutely call that game it's a survival horror rpg yeah yeah yeah i don't think it's i still don't think it's that hmm okay but it's it's third person but not survival horror is there just be a castlevania game it's gory well no because that has undead stuff in it PS1 or PS2 exclusive?

1:28:17Gory, fighting... What was it? Could it be like Dante's Inferno?

1:28:22Sam Claiborn:Well, that was PS3. Was it? Yeah. What about just Devil May Cry? Yeah. PS2. Could be Devil May Cry. That's a pretty good guess. Demons still on the table. What about Ninja... No, Ninja Gaiden's Xbox. Is this a Climax action game? No. Oh, shit. Okay, well... Wow. What are we at? I don't think we're going to get this one. could be could be demon souls for the ps2 that's ps3 really could be king's field for the ps whatever gilbert and rancho cucamonga what i mean could it be a licensed game we just missed this whole time should we have asked that i don't know yeah won't help i mean we don't need there was an evil dead game oh that's undead though so it's spooky did we ask if it's spooky or did we just ask we said it's a spooky game yeah it's a spooky so it's spooky gory not survival horror not survival action third person ps1 or ps2 exclusive i don't know uh i'm leaning i mean we don't need to ask this but i think that i think the license stuff could be in there you know yeah yeah it's like what if it's what if it's twisted metal yeah i mean what a horrifying premise there's definitely games that are like that would be horrifying if they were played in a different way but then the game's like oh we're just a goofy fun time we can ask if it's licensed you have one question i don't think that'll help us i don't think it is games that stick out to me from the ps2 era are like the evil dead game which i believe was a ps2 exclusive where you play as ashley in the grocery store and then evil dead and a fistful of boomstick that's what it was called and then hunter the reckoning was a game that was popular on ps2 that's horror e it's like a 3d gauntlet i believe i don't know why i keep picturing ps3 games and i'm trying to picture ps2 i was thinking about the about prey do we do we just figure out if it's a ps2 game or a ps1 game i feel like that might sure help us out is this a ps2 game no so it's ps1 oh okay well that severely limits the amount of spooky 3d non-survival horror games it's like a clue maybe it's like medieval yeah it's not really gory though right you you're a you're a skeleton skelly boy skeleton and arm but it's like for kids though yeah i mean it could be parasitey i mean i would love for it to be parasite eve i don't think it is but i don't know that we have a better guess yeah i mean it that i mean it 100 passes like what would be a game that's more passing this test than that that passes every single question yeah we just should have asked if this was made by somebody other than sony see see audience this is what happens when we don't narrow down the decades and the genre we got a system worked out okay i'm just okay yeah let's do it is this parasite eve yes it's a halloween miracle so what are these people are they just sick they're like mutated their their mitochondria has been manipulated by eve the sentient uh evil entity slash opera singer who is um messing with people's mitochondria and turning them into mutants essentially Damon, would you call this game an RPG?

1:31:52Sam Claiborn:Yeah, I would call it. It's a survival horror RPG! You gotta manage resources! You manage resources. You manage resources in SimCity. Is it a turn-based combat system? It is a turn-based combat system.

1:32:06Justin Davis:It's an RPG combat system. It's made by Square. It's in between Final Fantasy VII and 8. This is so much closer to Final Fantasy VII than it is to Resident Evil.

1:32:15Sam Claiborn:I mean, it was almost Final Fantasy VII. yeah joe detective joe cool or whatever that dude's name was no this game is one of my all-time favorites parasite eve um this is gonna shout out to the dude in the comments but this is from yoko shimamura who is the composer of the kingdom heart series final fantasy 15 one of my all-time favorite tracks in any rpg is the police station music in this which is very funky very just like late 90s funk cool uh man this game rocks and it's like a wait yeah eight to 12 hour rpg it's great is the whole game top down no it's like we're just getting we're getting weird angles on this b-roll it's it's a fixed angle resident of having a it doesn't switch to a battle cam it just has battling real time which is a big deal well it the not in real time but they but i know what you mean like you don't there's not like a camera doesn't roll and then you're in correct It's more like a vagrant story, I guess, where you just kind of fight on the field.

1:33:13Sam Claiborn:Yeah, and you can use your psychic powers or your gun, and you can actually have the enemy miss by navigating away from the enemy fire. The only bad thing about this game is the last boss is complete and utter nonsense, because you can kind of softlock yourself, because it chases you through this boat, and it is borderline impossible if you mess it up. But apart from that, fantastic game. Parasite Eve 2, not as good.

1:33:36Justin Davis:Not as good. Yeah, I don't remember. I mean, you remember it much more than me. Like I played this game when it was out and I've not played it since, but I... I played this like a year ago. Replayed it. You like this better than Chrono Cross?

1:33:48Sam Claiborn:I like this better than Chrono Cross, yeah. Wow. 100%. This is one of my all-time favorite RPGs. Gilbert. Gilbert from Rancho Cucamonga. Hold on. Kindred Spirit.

1:33:58Justin Davis:Are you Gilbert? I'm not Gilbert.

1:34:01Sam Claiborn:I'm actually not from Rancho Cucamonga, but I worked at the Best Buy at the Victoria Gardens Mall in Rancho Cucamonga. That's not what I was objecting to. I was objecting to one of your all-time favorite what? RPGs? Survival horror RPG. I'm not going to say the whole thing. I don't call it an action climax game. I just call it an action game. This game is scary. This haul just goes on a long time. Yeah, this is not. Yeah. Look.

1:34:33Justin Davis:It's a good game. This is the B-roll Gilbert could find on short notice. Nicely job. Thank you for the suggestion, Gilbert, from Rancho Cucamonga. Viewers, listeners, if you have your own suggestions for video game 20 questions, email them to me at the email address, gamescoop.igin.com. Wait, hold on. Hold on, Damon. What's up? He just skipped ahead 41 minutes, and it's still the same hallway. Yeah, I don't know what exactly we're watching.

1:34:56Sam Claiborn:I think this is also near the end of the game. Sorry, please continue the closing of the episode.
