1:30Coming on with the show, we're in Canada! We welcome you to our Canadian hangouts and tell you why the hell we're here.
1:37Anthony McPartlin:Before we left the UK, it was back to school time. I'll tell you what went on in my house. I get up close and personal with a stranger in the gym. Ant shares his plans on breaking the rules to see the Bayou Tapestry. No worse than your sandwich stealing. Hey, Jack. And we share some stories of undercover pranks that almost went wrong. Enjoy the show!
2:04Hello! Hi! Hello everybody!
2:09Anthony McPartlin:Good morning, good evening. Welcome to Canada, to the Canadian Hangout, for a little hanging out with me and him in Canada. Hey now! I don't know what to say yet, we've just gone here. I'll work on it. I'll work on my Canadian accent to give you lots more. Was that a Canadian accent to start with? Yeah, a little bit, yeah. Oh, yes. Hey now. Hey, buddy. Oh, hey there, buddy. That's better, isn't it? That's better. I don't know if it's better. Oh, hey there, buddy. That's good. That's good. Yeah, let's see. That's good. Welcome along to Canada, where we're away filming. What are you doing, Dec? Tell us more.
2:42Anthony McPartlin:Why are you in Canada? We are doing a new spin-off series of I'm a Celebrity called I'm a Celebrity Wild Frontier. The Wild Frontier, which is pairs of celebrities in Canada taking on trials and challenges, trying to survive. They will enter as a duo. A pair of friends. It can be a husband and wife. It can be a celebrity and a partner. Celebrity and a sibling. Brother, sister. So they're not all celebrities. No, they're not. That's the good thing about this. This is the first time we've had a civilian or civilians on the show. Yes. So they will enter as a pair, compete as a pair, and eventually leave as a pair.
3:21Anthony McPartlin:And then it will all build up to a live grand final in London. What could possibly go on? Next year. Jimmy Bullard and David Hay are barred from the series. I like them just in the front row, just for heckles. We like heckles, don't we, heckles, Connor? We do. Yeah, we do. But yeah, it's very exciting. It's very different. And one thing we've never encountered before, which we have this year, is bears. Yeah, we saw bears. So let me tell you what we've done so far, right? So we have been on a gondola up into the mountains, and we've done what they call the peak-to-peak. So you go, it's the longest unsupported gondola in the world.
4:01Is it really? That's what we've done yesterday. I didn't know it was. So you don't read the signs? No. Well, did you not think this is long and high?
4:08Anthony McPartlin:Yeah, but I just thought, cool. Oh, for God's sake. As we were doing it, we'll show you how we got on in a minute. But as we were doing it, on the way back down, we were looking around. I was looking around. This lot were chatting. So I was looking thinking, I wonder if there's any bears in these woods. And I looked, and there was a bear, and I was like, bear! So everyone got their phones out. Everyone kind of tried, jostled up a position to try and video the bear. But Ant was in prime position by the window. I was right in the middle of it like this, because I spotted it. So I was like, yeah, zooming in, all that, brilliant.
4:40And then he was, did you get it? Did you get it? yeah I got it I got the bear I got the bear on day one we saw a bear brilliant checked my video back and I hadn't pressed record and I pressed record when I thought I was stopping recording so just recorded in my pocket I recorded me putting my phone back in my pocket
4:56Anthony McPartlin:how disappointing I'm really you still need to send us the video of the bear no I'm not sending the video why? because it's my bear I said bear I was the one that said bear but it's my film and I own the copyright of it shut up you copyright you idiot how you on about copyright I said Bear so therefore all of your footage is mine I've got your footage either yeah mine's nice for me as well what do you mean it's just for you you're an idiot as well but we're having a lovely time here and we're just about to get into filming we've done a little bit so far but we're going to get into it so we'll bring you more yeah we'll tell you more what's going on next week next week it's good though do you like our set for a Canadian.
5:40You've got a Do Not Feed The Moose sign, Canada flag. Is that a Canada flag? That's not the actual flag. That's not the flag. That's like a bandana. Yeah.
5:47Anthony McPartlin:Hey, nice beaver. Is that a beaver? It's a beaver look. Oh, it is a beaver. Nice. Now I've put my glasses on. I can see the beaver. It's a beaver. And we've got a little, is this a moose here? We've got a cuddly moose here who hasn't got a name at the moment. So any suggestions for the moose's name or gratefully received? Moosey? Brucey? Moosey. Brucey? Moosey Brucey I'm not saying that I say Moosey Yeah I see you're Moosey and I raise you with a Brucey Nah Too British Send us in any any suggestions you've got for Brucey's name I'm hanging out at beltabox.com So where we are this is like an old ski lodge Guest ski lodge doesn't it I think so and we our trailers are behind us so just out there are our trailers have you checked out what's in there have you checked out your rider yeah have you checked out your Canadian rider Yeah, there's not much in there.
6:40Anthony McPartlin:They're not very Canadian, is it? No, there's a twirl and a... Yeah, a bag of Maltesers. Yeah. They're not Canadian, are they? Get them at home. We need some Canadian snacks. Well, yeah, we need some... If you are Canadian, watching, listening to the pod... Well, we know we've got listeners in Canada because of our listener map. So we know we've got people out here. So we need some snacks. What do we eat? What should we eat? Where should we go? We need some info. We don't know anything about where we are. So, yeah, we need some inspiration. Canadian inspiration. we've had food at the hotel yes did you have Canadian bacon I've had that was very nice yeah that was that was good have you had any maple syrup no do you not like maple syrup not really I saw somebody pouring out his bacon this morning yeah they do that yeah there's that weird thing of people at the buffet like there's a sticky bun and they've got scrambled egg oh yeah I know and they're pouring maple syrup all over it and so if it's got eggs there and maple syrup on it and then a and then a pastry street.
7:39Anthony McPartlin:Yeah. What are you doing? Just go back up again. Go back up again. You see, the guy yesterday sat next to us and he had a plate. How big were them plates, by the way? Yeah, they're massive. The plates in the hotel are huge. It's like the episode of Alan Portridge with Alan's big plate. It was so huge. So you couldn't fill the plate. You know, even though we were hungry, you still don't fill this plate. I turn over and that couple opposite us, it was like this, full of peppers. It was peppers. It was all peppers. Yellow peppers, red peppers, green peppers. I was trying to get your attention Look there's peppers I thought They look like full long You know like long Thin long peppers Like it's almost like a chilli pepper With a big long Yeah No way It was It's a Canadian thing I didn't think that would be Canadian It's mad whatever that is I reckon he's just Got the actual ball of peppers From the buffet And switcherooed it And put it down And he'd eat the peppers And they're only there for decoration By the way They'd run out of bacon this morning Eh?
8:37Anthony McPartlin:Yeah Shame on you, Canada. Shame on you. Canada are all places. They ran out of... I don't think Canada ran out of big. I think it was just the hotel. That's one of my grumbles is hotel breakfast buffets when they run out of stuff and they haven't noticed and they don't come and fill it up. Have we got any more grumbles? I think we had some grumbles sent in from people. We love hearing your grumbles. We do. Send them in to us hanging out at belterbox.com. We love them. Here we go. this one is from Rachel and her napping baby in Frankfurt, Germany. Germany! Ah, a bit of sin. Pet. Hi, Ant and Dec in Heckless Corner.
9:18Hi.
9:18Anthony McPartlin:Hey. Hey. My grumble is when you're in a public toilet, like in the shops or in an airport, and they have the toilet paper dispenser that only lets you pull out one single ply sheet at a time. You know the ones where it's like right in the middle and you pull it out? it drives me mad do they think I have no self-control without this dispenser do they think I'd use half the roll we're using the same amount of paper it just takes more time anyway I've been needing to get that off my chest for years now so thank you for the platform love and respect do you know what I find about them as well the annoying thing about them if your hands are wet and you go and get them and you pull it like that it just rips apart yeah like you've got to get them right on it you've got to partially dry your hands on your clothes to get a paper towel out to dry the rest of your hands pointless I think you're misunderstanding where Rachel is Germany Frankfurt Germany no she's in the toilet what do you mean she's in the toilet oh she's not drying her hands she's not drying her hands she's having a poo she's are we and you know it's the things the big round things on the wall got it and the little thing comes out the middle that thing yeah they're annoying yeah I'll give her that okay anymore here you go um hi Abnadek hi sorry I have a grumble quite frankly it's one that's been building for years you know when you've just landed at the airport you survived the flight and now you're standing at the baggage carousel waiting patiently for your suitcase question mark I hate baggage carousels well why does everyone feel the need to stand approximately 0.3 millimetres away from the conveyor belt I agree there is a yellow line a perfectly good clearly visible yellow line in brackets.
11:03And yet apparently it's merely a decorative suggestion. I'm standing behind you, desperately trying to spot my suitcase while you're practically lying across the conveyor belt. Please, people, stand behind the yellow line. Let the cases come to you. You do not need to be touching the conveyor belt. Yours, angrily, a woman who just wants to see if my black suitcase is hers. That's a very, very good letter. That's a great grumble.
11:27Anthony McPartlin:I totally agree. I've got a few grumbles about Bagajitli. Come on then. I hate it when you because I completely agree so I always take a little step back but then somebody will come and wander along and stand right in front of you it's always blocks always blocks it's always meant they walk over like that as if like this is the manly thing I must collect the bags because I'm the man and then they'll stand in front of you right in front of you what do you think I was doing yeah I was going to swear yeah you were I was what do you think I was doing just standing here oh winds me up a treat and of course you have to go oh I make lots of noises yeah let them know you're annoyed absolutely it's like me at the bacon oh those kind of noises I'll make a Declan Bacon noise in the future and the other one is it doesn't take the whole family to get your bags nah it doesn't what you should do what everybody should do is have one nominated member of the family who's allowed to approach the baggage reclaim and everybody else should stand in a safe space five metres away five metres three metres I agree four metres with the trolleys just go away yeah I agree you don't the whole family doesn't need to be there baggage reclaim maybe we should introduce like a pen yes where the family members go and stand at baggage reclaim yes so all the rest of the family go the family pen and the blokes go and stand in front of each other on the other in front of each other and I've got to grumble go on why can't we sit on it on the conveyor belt on the conveyor belt it would be fun please don't sit on the conveyor belt but that's the one thing we all want to do?
12:59And we've all kind of done it a little bit and got away with it. But why? If it can take the weight of all those cases, it can take the weight of me. And it'll be fun. And I promise I won't go behind. I reckon they're scared because if you sit on the conveyor belt and you go all the way around and you go through those flappy little things, you'll see them all just sitting around not doing anything. That's the problem.
13:20Anthony McPartlin:Yeah. Lifting the curtain. Yeah. You lift the curtain, they're all on TikTok eating sandwiches. That's what they're doing. Sweaty cases aren't coming out. we had it when we flew here didn't we Rachel who we flew with she was like oh I can't remember all the cases she must have picked up three different styles of cases and then how did you how did you forget and it was quite a distinctive case she had this floral ribbon thing around it calf kits and floral thing that she bought specifically so she wouldn't forget a case why are you picking up every other case I did call her a nana yeah it was very nana-y wasn't it what she bought but the problem was it was brand new so she couldn't really remember what it looked like.
13:59Anthony McPartlin:She couldn't. Didn't work. It wasn't a great plan. Any more? Let's have a look. This is from Madison. Hi, gang. Hi, Madison. I've got a moment for you. I've just relocated from the UK to the United States. Ooh. And I've noticed a lack of decorum Americans have when ordering food or coffee. Instead of saying, please may I have, like us Brits, They'll say, I'll do her. Or I'll get the. It really ruffles my feathers. Does it? Mm-hmm. My mum would genuinely wallop me if I ordered anything using those words without a please or thank you. We've been here a few months and have flagged how much it irritates us to our American friends.
14:41Anthony McPartlin:But they think we're the odd ones. Anyway, the pod is my little slice of home since moving, so please never let it end. That's big love and respect, guys, from Madison. Never let it end? What the hell? Are you talking about those? We're not even through series one yet. Yeah, I mean, I don't, I can't say I've noticed it myself. Oh, I have noticed it, yeah. Have you? I'll get the, I'll take the... Now you say it, like it makes sense. Yeah. But as I see, Canadians on the other hand are very polite. Incredibly polite. As friendly and as polite as us Brits, I would say. If anything, maybe too polite.
15:21Anthony McPartlin:What do you mean? Well, they like a chat, don't they? They do like a chat. I like a chat yeah we know I like a chat but goodness me the Canadians can talk it takes a long time for people to get out the lift because everyone's just being friendly and letting the other person get out the lift but then ultimately nobody gets out the lift and yesterday the lift door shut and nobody got out and I'm on the back and I'm like just get out the lift just get out the bloody lift Canadians it is no honestly though there is friendly if not friendlier than us Brits and I'm here for it I like it I like all that I love it Great Grumble.
15:55Anthony McPartlin:Any more, get them in to us. Hanging out at bellabox.com. We love to hear Grumbles. More of the week. I think it's Baggage Reclaim. Absolutely. Shout out to that. Absolutely. Baggage Reclaim. It's a minefield for Grumbles. I agree. So, well done. What did you win? Moussi? What? Thumbs up. Thumbs up. From Canada. Yeah. There it is. Hey, buddy. Hey, buddy, you won. Well done, Moussi. We didn't even get a name on it. No, it's anonymous. It's just yours angrily, a woman who just wants to see if that black suitcase is hers. Well done, angry woman. Has your week been before you left for Canada? What?
16:35Anthony McPartlin:How was your British week? How was my British week? Since we podded last. It was all right, actually. Yeah, nothing to report. I had a busy week before coming away. I had the start of school. Oh, what are you doing? Well, I should be back in school myself. But I had Isla going into year three and Jack into reception. Oh, big day. First day, big day. School uniform, blazer down here. The sleeves were far too long for him and his shorts were like trousers. It was so cute. How did he get on? He quite enjoyed it. Quite? Quite enjoyed it. A lot of the kids got a sticker on their first day for doing good listening.
17:21Anthony McPartlin:and, you know, helping everybody out. Jack didn't get a sticker. There was no sticker for Jack. I think he's here. I said, where's your sticker? And he came out. Everybody else came out with stickers. I said, where's your sticker, Jack? I didn't get a sticker. He said, I didn't do good listening. Did he talk over people when they were talking? I think he did. It was quite rude, isn't it? Yeah, it takes after his dad. I had a bit of a moment at the start of the day because we've been taking him, because he's going to school now, his sister's school. Yeah. So we've been taking him to pick her up to get him used to it.
17:50Anthony McPartlin:So there was no problems getting him in the school gate and all that. We knew he was looking forward to going to school. The thing that surprised us, which I didn't see coming as well, was the night before, we laid his uniform out for him to put on in the morning. And we were laying it out before he went to bed. And I could see him like, he was putting his pajamas on as I was laying out the uniform. And he looked down at the uniform and he looked away. And then he looked back down again and looked back and he went, am I wearing that? Yes. Like, yes, this is your uniform. We went and tried it on in the shop, remember?
18:24Anthony McPartlin:I was like, okay. So he went to bed. I should have seen it coming then. The next morning, getting into the uniform wasn't straightforward. Really? No. I got into the... I didn't get into the shorts. I got him into the shorts. You probably could get into the shorts. I got him into the shorts. I got him into the shirt. The tie was the issue. Oh, right. It's one you got a tie? It's a tie tie, yeah. So I put it around his neck and I went and do it. And he went, no, daddy. That's not how you do it. That's interesting. He thinks he knows how to do a tie at four years old. So he pulled it off. He got the fat bit of the tie and he just fed it into the top of his shirt.
19:01Anthony McPartlin:It was eating the tie. Yeah. And then it just hung all the way down. A bit like Donald Trump's tie. It just goes all the way down to his knees. And he's like, there. I was like, no, that's not how it works. So I had to take it off and be going to put it around his neck. He went, no, daddy. I don't want a tie like that. he put it back in again I quite like that though well yeah I'm not working fashion when he gets older he might I said to him that's his interpretation of how you wear a school tie I probably said the wrong thing as well I said look Jack I said you've got to put it on properly I said come on put it on I said you look as smart as a carrot what?
19:39that's not a saying
19:41Anthony McPartlin:I said you look as smart as a carrot which then he burst into tears and said I don't want to be a carrot. So I had to leave the tie off. We went downstairs. We did breakfast, did everything. And just before we left, I was like, tie on. Stealth. Get it done. Get out of the house. So we got the tie. He looked like a smart carrot at the end. He looked like a very smart carrot. So yeah, got him there, dropped him off. Went like a dream. He ran in, happy as Larry. A lot of tears and snot from other kids. Right. But not ours. He was in there. Loved it. Just went in there. ran around didn't listen didn't listen had the best didn't get a sticker had the best day ever didn't get a sticker and didn't care yeah good good for him good on him so the flight over here was long tell me nothing you think isn't it to get to Canada yeah I didn't for some reason I kind of just think of it as going to New York like just above New York but we're not with the other side as the country so we're flying to Vancouver and then you've got to travel from Vancouver to get here but quite a long flight watch anything?
20:44Anthony McPartlin:I watched Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die. So did I. Sam Rockwell, one of my favourite actors. Come on, let's do a banana rating. Oh, well, I loved it. It's a bit mad at the end. It is, yeah, it is mad. But I kind of got away with it. It gets away with it. It's high concept. I really enjoyed it. I like it. I'll watch anything he's in. He's brilliant. Have you seen Moon with him in? No, I haven't seen that. No, I'm not watching that. Apart from that. Apart from that. That was one. That was. Oh, I have seen that. Yeah. Directed by David Bowie's son. Yes. Zowie Bowie. Zowie Bowie, but he's called Duncan Jones, I think.
21:21That's it. And this one, my all-time favourite. It's brilliant. Moon. I have seen that. That's an eight bananas out of eight bananas. Yeah. Put that on whatever page that's on with that kid. Letterboxd. Is it Letterboxd? Letterboxd. And what would you rate? Have fun. Good luck. What's it? Good luck. Have fun. Do die. Good luck. Have fun. Do die.
21:39Anthony McPartlin:Seven and a half bananas. Oh, good. well done yeah it's great loved it yeah seven bananas for me yeah it's good very good good review so National Television Awards this week we are recording this before the event so we have no idea what is going to happen we are nominated in a few categories most notably entertainment presenter yes think you're going to win it this year Ant? I don't think we're going to win it this year do you not think? no who do you think is going to win it this year? David Lumber you would think so well it's got to be isn't this to David Attenborough? He's a hundred year old.
22:12Yeah. There's been a lot of programs with him in it. And just, he's a, he is a national treasure. Yeah. Bonafide. Bonafide. That phrase or that term gets bandied around too much for my luggage. Yeah. Whereas he is a national treasure.
22:26Anthony McPartlin:Can I let you into a secret? Yes, please do. I voted for him. For David Attenborough? Yeah. So did I. Did you? Yeah, well, you can't vote for yourself, can you? No. I mean, I do. Most of the other time, I do vote for myself. I mean, I vote for the shows. Yeah. But I don't vote for myself in there. Oh, I do. Do you? Yes. Okay, cool. But I didn't this year. Good to know. You should have let me know. I would have voted. Never would have won last year if I voted. Yeah. I shouldn't have voted for Gary Lineker last year. I know that. But yeah, he deserves it. Absolutely deserves it. I agree. The day that he's no longer with us would be a very sad day.
22:59Absolutely. I think.
23:00Anthony McPartlin:Yeah. Like we say, we're recording this before the NTAs. So if we've won, congratulations. Congratulations. Well done. Well done. Brilliant. Thank you for voting, everybody out there. We really appreciate it. If we haven't won, congratulations to David Attenborough. He deserves it. Yeah, he really does. He really deserves it. And we're not there two years in a row. Yeah, because we're in South Africa last year, Canada this year. So we'll have missed it two years in a row. Where should we go next year? Anyway, speaking of historical figures, have you seen it? Was I? Well, David Attenborough is quite historical.

23:36Anthony McPartlin:100 years old is not historical. Well, that's quite historical. Have you seen the Bayeux Tapestry? Yes. Has been unveiled this week. King Charles and Emmanuel Macron went to see it. I'd love to see it. I'd love to see it. Do we both together? Yes. Great. Let's go and do it. Let's do it. So obviously it's the tapestry. It's the story of the Battle of Hastings in 1966. Oh, King Harold getting one in the eye. Yeah. It's the first time in nearly a thousand years it's been in the UK. You've got to go and see it. Yeah, of course you do. Have you heard about the French store? What about it? They're mourning.
24:11They're mourning? It's not like them. The French are complaining because they said there is two threads which are pulled or slightly different. Have we done that? Than when it left France. So apparently we're responsible. But the British Museum are saying that could have been done when it was taken down in France as it was getting put into the different storage containers. That's not necessarily our fault, guys. That's the thing. did we transport it from France then? Don't know. Don't know this deal. I just know the French are mad. And we said, it's storming to take up, which I thought was very British.
24:48Get over yourself, Frenchies. Yeah, I'm excited to go and see it. A lot of people see it. Well, if anyone from the British Museum is watching this podcast, I think they do. I reckon they do. In their downtime, can you get us in? I'd like to jump the queue. at least time
25:09Anthony McPartlin:I'm not sure about TV presenters giving cues I don't think that's going to end well what could possibly go what could possibly go I'm not sure that's a great idea well just scuttle down the side and pop in the front do you think that's the end I'd get away with that will I yeah I would think so yeah okay nobody's going to say anything do you want to do it with me or should I do it on my own do it on your own if you lie from the chemistry of your life what would you choose that's a good way of doing it isn't it do you know what instead of doing a traditional documentary where we talk about our life.
25:39We should just make a tapestry.
25:40Anthony McPartlin:Do you know what would make a great tapestry? The paintball scene about your growth. It would. Wouldn't it? Yeah, it would. That's a bit like King Harold getting one in the eye. King PJ getting paintballs. That is a good idea. I reckon one of you out there with time on your hands could probably do that for us. But I think the paintball scene about your growth would make a great tapestry. Good idea. Very good idea. You think that would be good. And a very historical moment. Yeah, it's true. And the history of... TV history. children's TV if you have seen it out there if you've been to France to see it in the past is it worth it just asking for a friend because because I'm just going to stand in a very long queue he's not going to stand in a queue he won't jump the queue but he won't stand in a queue if you he doesn't do a lot of things he refuses to do a lot of things because he hates queues but he won't jump the queue I don't like breaking rules even though I shoplifted which I you did front page news as well that was was it?
26:34Anthony McPartlin:yeah Daily Star, so that's awesome. Doesn't count. Oh, yeah. There it looks. God, shoplifter deck takeaway. Oh, very good. I like what you've done there, Daily Star. I like the byline here. Not just any M &S thief. That's quite good. Very good. Well done, Daily Star. Deck, soz for shoplifting. Did you say soz? I don't think I said soz. It's not really a deck thing, that's soz. Star tucked into bacon sarnie you forgot to pay for. It was actually egg mayonnaise and maple bacon. Did you have a look at the picture? I'm really sorry. That's what I said. No soz for shoplifting. No sympathy. Ant dubbed his friend a thief.
27:17Anthony McPartlin:Quite right. Quite right. You stuck the knife in. Storm with a teacup. Yeah. But listen, we've got a load of people who've done exactly the same thing. Come on, read it out then. Nisha says, I did the same shoplifting from Greggs. What? Can't shoplift from Greggs. How can you shoplift from Greg's? Asked for a hot chocolate, beat my loyalty card, picked up the drink and walked out. Realised my mistake about 20 yards away and had to turn around and run back. Well done. The woman behind the counter did not react at all. I think they are so used to shoplifters. Yeah, maybe. Tasty sausage rolls. Michelle Maxfield says, I did exactly the same thing in Asda about a month ago, Dick.
27:52Anthony McPartlin:It was when I was eating something I had bought, I realised I haven't been back since. That's what I did. I was eating my sandwich, I'm on. So she didn't ring up and say sorry, though. she didn't say soz no or make a contribution to charity which actually costs more than your sandwich like I did so you see it's a common thing it's a common thing it wasn't so I don't think you can brand me a shoplifter I'm just a bit absent minded no you can't can you because that is what you did you broke the rules I didn't break the rules not knowingly that's the thing no that's John Lewis never knowingly that's their never knowingly breaking the rules well don't start a trend don't go in there now just leave us some curtains well I'm glad I'm not the only person who's done it makes me feel a bit better good good we're going to throw back to the hanging out studio now back in the UK yes because who's there UK Ant & Dec are there yeah want to find out more here they are thanks Canada Ant & Dec this is an advert for TV licensing a lot of good telly on at the minute isn't it a lot of good telly it's the autumn autumn is that's when he's like bang great telly's back Bam!
29:01Great entertainment great drama great everything great reality
29:04Anthony McPartlin:There's a really good entertainment show The Box Oh yes Gary Lineker I have heard about The Box Hosted by Gary Lineker loads of celebrities in individual boxes Yes and they get dropped in a mystery location they open the door and then they've got to take on whatever they face on the other side of the door so it could be physical it could be mental how do you think you would do dropped in the middle of nowhere having to face a challenge? I'd prefer it. What do you mean? Well, I don't like really knowing what's coming up. Do you not? I like to just get on with whatever's in front of me. I don't know, do I?
29:37No, you don't. Any kind of strategy meeting or any kind of pre-planning meeting is just boring. Just get on with it. How do you think you'd get on? Well, I am quite the control freak.
29:46Anthony McPartlin:Yes. So I like to know everything that is going on. What else is on? Tell you what's about to start. Yeah. The new series of The Voice. Oh, that's still going. It's still going. It's still going, isn't it? It is still going. Series what? Still doing the old turning chairs. Somebody sing.
30:09Anthony McPartlin:I don't know who I'm pressing for, though. That is back on the 22nd of September. Great. Kelly Rowland is the new coach on The Voice. Now, she's never been a coach before. No, she hasn't. But she was a judge on The X Factor and had a hand in creating Little Mix. Did she? So she knows what she's talking about. Banky Kelly Rowland. If you were singing on The Voice and you've got Kelly Rowland there, Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Tom and Danny from McFly, who would you really want to turn around for you? I would want Tom and Danny from... Oh, not Tom Jones. No, Tom and Danny. Because I know them and we get on well.
30:50So, you see? Lots of great telly on at the moment.
30:54Anthony McPartlin:A TV license covers you to watch over 400 TV channels including the ones we've talked about today and BBC iPlayer. To find out more go to tvl.co.uk slash pod.
31:08Thank you very much UK Ant & Dec. They're nice UK Ant & Dec. They're very nice. Not as polite and friendly as Canadian Ant & Dec. No.
31:15Anthony McPartlin:Howdy buddy. Hey buddy. Well hello there buddy. That's nice. I like it. Yeah thanks. I like it. We teased you earlier with the news. Is it news? Information. that we went up in a cable car. Oh, yeah. First got to hear the camera. We did film it. Did you know it's the longest one in North America? I did, because I read the signs. I knew the signs. I saw the signs. I saw the signs. And I rolled the cable car. But we filmed it. If you want to have a look at it, do you want to have a look? Should we show it? Yeah. Here it is. Thanks, Camelan and Jack. Here we are on our first gondola of the day. Our first gondola of the day.
31:55Anthony McPartlin:Are we going on more today? Yeah, we've got another one after this. The one after this one, so we get to a certain height and then the one after this one is I think one of the highest gondolas in the world. And that's across a valley? Yes. Great. I'm not amazing with heights. You're alright, aren't you? I'm alright, yeah. Yeah. So... If I stand and rock it, is that bad? Yeah, I wouldn't do that. Okay, okay. I wouldn't do that. I'll stand. We're just hanging off a cable basically. We are heading up the mountain. So far so good. See you at the top.
32:30Anthony McPartlin:Halfway? Halfway! It's quite high already. So we've seen we've stopped. You okay with that? Not brilliant. Somebody somewhere will know what's going on. We're not moving at the minute. We're just wobbling in the air. Maybe a slight omen that we've stopped at pillar number 13. Maybe someone's seen a bear. So it's for like photos. Stopped for photos. Photo opportunity of bears. Hold on guys We're moving again Don't worry We're moving Don't panic We're moving Don't call the authorities We're moving again How stunning is this? Thank you That is some view today That's tomorrow's adventure Bit scared weren't you?
33:19Not really But in the end I was putting it on What are you putting it on for the cameras? Yeah Should we show your bare footage? My bear footage? Yeah.
33:27Anthony McPartlin:Oh, sorry, I thought that we are. I thought you were referring to something else. Do you want me to show you bear footage? Shall I show you bear? Yeah. Here's me, bear. Here's my bear. There's a bear. Where? There's down there. Shut up.
33:44Yeah.
33:45Anthony McPartlin:It's what I mean. Yeah, there he is. There you are. Wow, look at him.
33:52Here's my bear footage.
33:57I press record and put it back in my pocket and I haven't got the bear. Why, you got your pocket? You've got his standing. Ah! Did you get the bear? No. Did you not? Oh, yeah, well done. Everyone's got great shots of the bears. Well done, guys.
34:13Anthony McPartlin:There's plenty more bears in the sea. If anyone would like a video of my pocket, then just let me know. How am I? It's a nice pocket. Don't have anything in the pocket, I know. I don't have anything in the pocket. Quite an empty pocket. How annoying is that? So annoying. Oh. I see you two do a full-free workout. Shut up, Fiona. Yes, you did. Actually, you did. So this is not the first time I've seen Dec today. We saw each other at the hotel gym. And let me tell you what happened. So I go down. We've both got jet lag. We've both got terrible jet lag. So we're both in the gym at 7 o 'clock this morning.
34:51But I was up like 2 a.m., 4 a.m., 6 a.m. And I thought, I might as well just get up and go to the gym. So I went down to the gym. And then I'd go through the doors. And there's a bank of treadmills. So I'd go for the middle one. That's free. Get off the treadmill. And I just hear this chuckling. And I looked to my left. And there's one treadmill free. Then it's hit. So deck's on the one at the end with a little wave. I'm like, are you all right? Couldn't sleep like that? He went, nah. And then he laughed and pointed like that. And I looked to my right. And right on the treadmill next to me is the commissioner of this TV show.
35:25From ITV. From ITV. So basically, our boss was on this one. And she noticed me and I noticed her. We're both walking furiously on a big incline. And she went, we don't have to talk. I said, no, we don't have to talk. So then we've done our workout. And as I'm walking, so you're there.
35:43Anthony McPartlin:Yeah. She's there. I'm there. You don't even see through the window where you see the pool. Yeah. our manager is in a robe slip for proof she gets into the pool yeah Rachel Rachel was in the pool amazing I said this is all a bit much for me I'm going back to bed so I get off the treadmill and I go I'm looking for the weights I can't find any weights anywhere so I was like well I'll do these machines which I didn't which I didn't love and I'm just about to leave annoyed because I couldn't find the weights and I see deck on the floor stretching in this little room which I hadn't noticed on the way in with loads of weights.
36:18And I was like, oh, this is where the weights are. So I do this little boxing workout where... It's a good little workout, this. It's good, isn't it? I liked it. So it's like, I've got a little boxing tie around my phone. So you get one minute rounds. Yeah. You hear like, ding, ding, after three minutes. 30 seconds of an interval. But you've got to have two little weights, right? Just to make it interesting. Yeah, little lady weights. I have little lady weights just to make it interesting. But you can't have two heavier weights because it's really solid. So I'm looking around for these weights.
36:45And the only weights I could see, you know, I was looking around for ages. Well, like five kilogram weights. And I was like, that's too heavy. You want like a two kilogram. So I noticed in the other room, there's a load of Pelotons. Ah, at the back of a Peloton seat, there's always two, two kilogram weights. So, because they use them to do workouts and stuff. So I went back in, took two of them, dummy boxing thing, said goodbye to you. You'd left. So I was like, right, I best put these back. So I went back to where the Pelotons were and they were full. I was like, oh no. And there's people on every one.
37:18So I've got these weights and I can see the peloton that I need to put them back in. There's this massive guy I go sweating on the peloton. So I just kind of, I just kind of lead in like this, right? I'm up like this and I'm leading in with the weights to put them down. And he goes, what you doing? And I really shocked him. So I put the weights back. So what you thinking I'm doing? Smelling your ass.
37:45if I put me some of these shoes why would somebody be leaning down next to your bum when you're on the peloton oh my god unless you're a freak so yeah that was my that was my experience this morning what you doing oh big Canadian man I'm so sorry sorry big fella don't hit me
38:04Anthony McPartlin:so yeah we've all done a full body workout good enough I'm just hearing we're heading back what are you hearing to the UK to hear from UK Ant & Dec again one more time today back to you guys looking good back there in the UK Thanks Canadian Ant & Dec Don't they look handsome out there in Canada? They do look very handsome yes Those hats This next segment is an advert for Santander who understand that managing money can be overwhelming and that building small everyday habits can make it feel manageable Yes indeed it's time now for this week's Agony Antander. Come on, hit me. Hit me. Got some correspondence here.
38:45Do like a little bit of Agony Antander. Listeners, here's your first one.
38:51Anthony McPartlin:Hi, Agony Antander. I'm always comparing myself to friends who have more successful jobs and seem further ahead financially. I want to feel more confident about my own finances. I've tried saving before but never managed to stick to it. It's just quite embarrassing not being able to keep up with my friends when we go out for dinner. So I want to get real about my money. There's a course I'd really like to take, which I think could be a good upskill at work, but it costs money. Feels like catch 22. I want to have more money, so I invest in my career, but I need money to do that. Where on earth do I start?
39:24Anthony McPartlin:That is from Nicole. Forget comparing yourself to your friends. I hear, hear. You can't. Comparison is the thief of joy. That is a great saying. Good saying, isn't it? Is that Confucius said? I've just said it. I did hear you say it. Yeah. So it does. It steals joy from you comparing yourself to others. So don't compare yourself to others. Don't try and keep up with what they do because ultimately it's your life. You've got to be happy. For the money thing, I would say, don't worry about it too much. Just try and save a little bit. I think as well, having a goal in mind focuses you to save a little bit for a longer term goal.
40:04Anthony McPartlin:So to have that goal, to have something to work towards, whether that is a holiday or whether that is a big night out or a big meal with your friends that you want to treat them to or whatever. Or like they said, to go on this course. To be able to afford the course, you're going to have to put a little bit away over a long period of time to reach that goal. Goals will always motivate you. And also there's big times in your life when you can have fun and be, you know, at the same level as your peers. And there's other times in your life where you've just got to put your head down. Put your head down and graft.
40:32Yeah. And work towards something. Yeah, definitely. It sounds to me like this is this time.
40:35Anthony McPartlin:If there's a part of that plan that just go awry a little bit and you have a month where maybe you don't put away as much as you have been or you miss a month, don't go back to zero. No. Don't throw it all out and go, oh, I've ruined it all now. Yeah. Just get back to your consistency and get back on track. Excellent. We like that. Well done, Nicole, and good luck. Here's another one from Johnny. Hi, Agony Ant and Dan. Hi, Johnny. Every morning on my way to work, I buy myself a£3.50 coffee. Ah, now. Already, Johnny, can we stop you there? I tell myself, it's just three quid. It's my daily joy.
41:14Anthony McPartlin:It's actually£3.50, Johnny. But I work out this little routine is costing me over£800 a year. Yeah. However, if I cut it out, my morning commute feels miserable. How do I stop the daily little treat habit without feeling like I'm stripping all the joy out of my routine? That is a good question. Johnny. A couple of ways you can do this. You can make your own coffee at home. Yes. Before you leave. So you've still got that joy of a nice coffee on the way to work on your commute. You could go to a different place, buy a cheaper coffee. Or you can do like Monday, Friday. That's where I get me nice coffees.
41:48Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, I bring them on from home.
41:50Anthony McPartlin:That's good. So that's saving a tenner a week and you're still getting two lovely coffees on the way to work. There you go, see. Per week. It's a good option, right? Yeah. And also. Because actually, if you just make your own every day, you might just get sick of it. but just taking out three but still keeping your book at the end of your Monday and your Friday Monday because it's a Monday and Friday because it's a Friday Tuesday you know what I mean Tuesday Wednesday Thursday make your own you save yourself over a tenner a week make your own walk past the coffee shop sip your coffee and just go I've just saved£3.50 there who are you doing that to the owner of the coffee shop just to yourself to yourself and then when you walk past on a Thursday go I've saved a tenner this week see you tomorrow see you tomorrow for a treat see you tomorrow so you're still getting a bit of joy you're still getting your own coffee and of course you can make it to your own taste your own coffee do you know what they can do to keep that joy in the commute every day whether it's a home coffee or an outside coffee listen to the podcast yes there you go see that'll put a smile on your face hang out with us on the way to work that'll put the joy in your spring in your step and joy in your heart that is all we've got time for on this week's Agony Ant Santander's regular saver can help you take charge of your money and build good savings habits for something that's important to you.

43:56Yeah, we're in the car a lot. We're going through Windy Mountains, so we need some car gifts. I think we've got a suggestion.
44:02Anthony McPartlin:We played Gage the Edge recently, which obviously we play in the car a lot, but we want some new car games. So any suggestions greatly received? I've got one here. It says, our favorite car game to play is taller or shorter. We choose a celebrity and check their height. Then you choose another celebrity and guess if they're taller or shorter. And then you carry on comparing. we've passed many a time in this way. Respect, guys. Hayley. I like it. I like it. So you start with someone who you just searched the Google answer. Yeah. So we've got your height, which is 5 '8". Yeah, my height, yeah. I am 5 '8".
44:41And a half, actually. And a half. So is Michael Bublé taller or shorter than you? Taller. Oh, is Michael Bublé... We've recorded with him. Taller. Is Michael Bublé taller or shorter than me? Taller. I'd say taller. Taller. You are both correct. He's 5 '10". Okay, so then Justin Bieber, another Canadian. Is he taller or shorter than Michael?
45:06Anthony McPartlin:Shorter. I reckon he's about my size, Bieber. 5 '9". And we hoved for the Brits when he was like, you're not 5 '9". 5 '6 1⁄2". I'm going to say shorter. Both correct, he's 5 '9". 5 '9". 5 '9". Who's next? Pamela Anderson. Is she Canadian? Uh, yes. Is she? So these are all Canadian celebrities? These are all Canadians. You should have said that from the start because that adds another level of like... Well, I was waiting to see how long it took my hair. Shut up. Pamela Anderson, shorter. I've met Pamela Anderson. Again, that's correct. You're doing very well. She's 5 '7". 5 '7". Who's next? Next up is another Canadian, Joni Mitchell.
45:51Anthony McPartlin:Joni Mitchell. Joni Mitchell. Joni Mitchell. Yeah, the singer. I reckon she's really small, Joni Mitchell. Yes, she's shorter. Definitely. Correct. She's 5 '6". 5 '6". It's your height. I thought she was like 5 '1", Joni Mitchell. Yeah, she looks at you, doesn't she? Because you look taller than forward. Next up, Ryan Gussie. Oh, he's a strapping lad. He's taller. He's taller. 5 '9". 5 '10". He's 6 '4". 6 '1". A beaver. A beaver. Justin Beaver? Justin Beaver. This beaver. Any beaver. So hold on, how... What, if it's like tail to nose? If it's standing on its tail or is it just on its legs? So if it's like this or like this?
46:38No, just he's upright. He's not upright. Well, he's short, isn't he? That's going to be shorter than... A beaver is shorter than Justin Beaver. And beaver.
46:48Anthony McPartlin:Beaver. beaver beaver beaver beaver I don't know where I was going beaver Las Vegas beaver shorter shorter no shorter no no beaver
47:06Shania Twain well we know Shania Twain's taller than a beaver no taller
47:13Anthony McPartlin:huh I seen her on stage supporting Harry Styles last summer this summer that doesn't count that doesn't count as me now I've met loads of people I've met the Rolling Stones Shania Twain is taller than a beaver and is the last one me why but that's not Canadian hey there buddy I've got to check your shirt on I am taller than Shania Twain I know that because I met her in Wembley over the summer Shania is 5 foot 4 who's that from I like that game respect her Hayley Hayley thank you for that game it's like a play your cards right with Celebrity's Heights I like it any other car games for us please send them to us to stop us going out of our minds while we're driving around Canada hanging out at battlebox.com I thought I won the other day it's a bit like this and it's a bit like Age we haven't played it yet so I've yet to road test it road test it road you see like it car games road testing them yeah easily impressed who lives longer what yeah with historical figures who would you know if Abraham Lincoln lived longer had a longer life or shorter life than Margaret Thatcher bit morbid not really is it not historical figures okay it's not like how they died and what did they die of but just I think if you think of some historical figures they've got a shorter life than you think.
48:50I don't know the answer to any of those examples but I will do some work and then we can come back to it.
48:56Anthony McPartlin:Do you do it in the same format as Hayley in that you go shorter or longer? Yeah. Yeah. So you go like Margaret Thatcher did she live longer or shorter than Abraham Lincoln? Yeah. Nice. Okay. Slightly macabre. Yeah. But you know. But I quite like it. As for a late night road trip. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Spooky one. Yeah. Spooky one. Spooky road trip. Through the woods. 50:46Anthony McPartlin:It took me five hours in makeup. I was sat backstage, ready to be a contestant on the Jeremy Kyle Show USA. I was in the gallery. You were in the gallery. Prosthetics, waiting for it to start. And he came out and talked to the audience. Said, so guys, we've got a great show lined up for you today. We've got some fabulous stories and great guests. So just enjoy the show. Get involved as much as you like and let's make the show. Come on, let's get ready to rumble. And I went, oh, he knows. he absolutely knows it's us well I was I went like that in the gallery and then his producer and director went oh he does this all the time I was like oh okay phew obviously I didn't know that you didn't there's no one to tell you that no I was so nervous and it was the first undercover back that we shot after a after our shows off air so yeah it was very very nerve wracking but that didn't go bad the one that nearly went wrong because it was all a bit unpredictable was Jeremy Clarkson yeah do you remember because he was having to leave his house to come up to Diddly Squat where we were and he'd had like a lie in yeah he didn't want to go change his mind he's like no I'm not going I'm like no he absolutely has to come up and it was about an hour later than we thought he was going to make the journey up and we were on the phone constantly to his girlfriend Lisa can he leave the house how is he going to leave the house and she kept messaging going he decided he doesn't want to come down to the phone today we're like no oh, you can't decide that.
52:15She's like, don't worry, I'm working on it. Then an hour later, I think I'm persuading him. What do you mean you think? We're like, in the full gear, we've got extras there, we've got all of the stuff planned.
52:24Anthony McPartlin:We're all waiting and like hanging out and you know, you're just kind of, you're forgetting about it and chatting. And then suddenly we get a text going, he's getting in the car now. Like, places everybody, places you. So yeah. That wouldn't have happened, that undercover wouldn't have happened if it wasn't her. Yeah, she was. Thank you very much for all of what you did there. She was amazing. Yeah, really good. let's have another question come on from the broadcast channel from Taylor J Rawlings says will you ever consider doing a version of I'm a Sleb with random members of the public good very good question I'm a civilian get me out of here we get asked this a lot we do yeah and I think it would be great we would love to do it we'd absolutely love to host that show because I think and they can't be random we obviously need to know who they are they can't just wander in but we'd cast it really well And I think you, because when I'm a celebrity, you don't always know the celebrities.
53:18No. And part of the joy is getting to know them night after night after night, and then really liking them or loathing them by the time you get to the end. So with I'm a civilian, get me out of here, you won't know anything about anyone, and you'll just get to know them all, like you do in Big Brother or whatever. You get to know them all, and then you have your favorites by the end of it. I think we should definitely do a version of that one, yeah.
53:40Anthony McPartlin:That would be great. Why not? And we do do it a little bit when we do the dry runs. So every year, I don't know if everybody knows this, every year to get back up to speed and get the cameras guys working and making sure that the edit works in time and just to get the wheels turning back on the production again. We get a load of Australians, don't we? About 10 Australian people. We stick them in there and we film them for three or four days. And they live in there, don't they? Yeah. They sleep in the celebrity's beds and they have showers in the waterfall. They do all the stuff. we try out some trials on them yeah we do trials things like that so we do what we call the dry runs so we do kind of do versions and they're always what I was going to say was they're always really interesting yeah and they always go a bit mad they only have it for three days yeah and that's their it's their country don't you think that they always go a little bit crazy like they've been in there for a month or something on Castaway yeah but that's yeah it's good we should work well look we're up for it and also this series that we're about to do in Canada is a little kind of taster into that because we have some people who aren't necessarily celebrities going in there this year.
54:47Anthony McPartlin:So we'll see how we like it. Ah, actually, so that could be classed as a trick of the trade. Yeah. Could it be classed as that? Yes. The thing, what we should do is, you know, when you see people who work at a fast food restaurant or work in a department store and they go, you'll never know, but this is what we do. This is our trick of the trade. Oh, you see some of this on social media as well. Like, this is what people don't want you to know about when you shop here. Well, I want to know all that stuff. That's good. So if you've got any tricks of the trade out there, if you work for any of these places, then get in touch with the pod.
55:18Let us all know the tricks of the trade and we'll read them out on here.
55:22Anthony McPartlin:And send us some inside info on whatever your line of work is. Yeah, and we'll change your name to protect the innocent. Yeah, I'll do it. Send them in. Hang it out at bellabox.com. That's good. We just have a new item. Great. Well done. I love it. Well done. Let's do that. Really progressive. I really like that nearly a year in let's have one more another question from the broadcast channel this is from Wenders2471 would you ever do a live podcast with an audience absolutely not can't think of anything worse I'm joking I'd love to yeah I'd love to as well that would be fun yeah we should do it yeah we should do that should we do it I mean that's the question should we do a live version oh I'd love to shoot it live I would get to meet you all face to face yes we'd have a laugh wouldn't we should we put wheels in motion to research the Albert Hall is that what you want the Albert Hall let's just do Wembley Stadium I'll get Shania Twain back yeah we should well I'd not yeah I think you can the first one you should do a slightly more intimate one yeah just to see if we like it I'd love to I'd love to get in a room with everybody and listen to the pod and have a have a chat I love a chat you know me I love a chat Christ this will go on forever we never stop talking that's all we've got time for today we will be back next Thursday with another pod here we'll fill you on on how things are going but we're also back on Monday we've got a bonus episode from here as well from our Canadian ski shack so should we do some more questions and answers on Monday yeah yeah you like them oh we've got some air mail from you guys yes great alright we'll answer them anything else get in touch with us hanging out at beltabox.com keep them coming in we love hearing from you remember to like and subscribe and follow the podcast wherever you get a new podcast we'll be back on Monday with a bonus yes and then back next Thursday with another pod you repeat yourself down until then respect guys respect guys see you later bye come on come on it's gonna work

This week the boys are taking us on the road to join them in Canada, while out filming for brand-new I’m A Celeb: The Wild Frontier.
Ant reckons he’s seen a bear… but has he? Dec reveals what happened on the first day back to school in his house, and the boys take on a full-body workout together in Canada! Plus, they take on a hilarious game of Who’s Taller or Shorter, featuring Shania Twain and a beaver?!
We hear more of your grumbles too, but which one will take the crown for ‘Moan of the Week’?
As always, keep your letters, games and grumbles coming to hangingout@beltabox.com. Sign off your email with the name you’d like us to use. If you’d rather we didn’t mention your surname, simply leave it out. And if you’d like a full-name shout-out, throw the whole thing in there!
