0:21Declan Donnelly:It was really good fun. Have you recovered? Yeah, I've recovered. All good. And that's not the reason for not having a guest this week. Yes. We're not having a guest this week. In fact, we're not just not having a guest. It's not a Mystery Dough Monday this week. The reason is we have had so much correspondence from you guys.
0:36Ant McPartlin:But loads of letters. Loads of letters. Loads of emails. Loads of voice notes. Loads of voice notes. And we're just not getting through enough of them in our podcast on the main pod on the Thursday show.
0:44Declan Donnelly:So we thought every now and again, we would dedicate one of these Monday at the Swords to you lot. To catching up. To catching up. So today... Are we going to do letters?
0:53Ant McPartlin:No, we're going to do voice notes. We're going to do voice notes. we've got a lot of voice notes that are going to come through the big yellow telephone the banana phone the banana phone I love it now he's in now he's in and we're going to just go through some of your voice notes thank you for sending them all in please do keep them coming in all of your emails your letters your voice notes anything at all jingles for Dex Diary movie ideas anything at all keep them coming in hanging out at belterbox.com
1:18Declan Donnelly:I do like your voice note I know we joked last week on the show where we said about our manager leaving us voice notes yeah and she just talks all the time Oh, hi, it's me. Oh, hi, I'm walking the dog. I've got a couple of questions for you.
1:29Ant McPartlin:She loved that we did that on the podcast last week. Yeah, yeah, it went really well. She was thrilled.
1:34Declan Donnelly:Absolutely thrilled we did that. I like your voice notes. I don't. You don't, do you? No. I'm very pro voice notes. You're very anti them. I like them in this arena. In this banana phone.
1:44Ant McPartlin:In this banana phone. But what I hate them is when people are ringing you with important information. Because if I'm out and about and I get the thing, I've got to listen to it. And then if there's something you need to look back on, like a date or a time or a thing, you've got to listen to the voice note again. Just have it there in text. Why do you love it so much? It's just easy, isn't it?
2:02Declan Donnelly:I don't think it is. Well, it's easier to send the voice note. Yes. Much easier. It's much easier. But do you not get... But like with my kids, it's easier to send a voice note. And then I'll get a voice note back. So I like a voice note. No, I'm not against it. I like your voice notes.
2:16Ant McPartlin:We love your voice notes. I think. Please do keep them coming in. I say it in anticipation. We love hearing from you. We love hearing your little voices.
2:21Declan Donnelly:Shall we hear the first voice tonight then? Shall we hear it? Yeah. Hi, Anton Deck. This is Jamie here. Hi, Jamie. What question do you use to get conversation started when people are being a bit boring? Thank you, Jamie. What question do you use when people are boring?
2:40Ant McPartlin:Mine's normally, how's your week been?
2:45Declan Donnelly:Is that the start of every pod? Very good. I think the easiest thing as a bloke is to ask if people follow a football team. Because then you just get straight to it, don't you?
2:56Ant McPartlin:But what if this thing, no, that's always a thing you're going to do.
2:59Declan Donnelly:Then they're boring, obviously. Then a part of you dies.
3:02Ant McPartlin:Yeah, a part of you does die. And they go, no, I'm more of a rugger man myself.
3:07Declan Donnelly:Oh, see you later, I'm in the car.
3:11Ant McPartlin:Have you been watching The Six Nations? No. Have you? No, absolutely not. I don't love small talk.
3:18Declan Donnelly:No, you don't. I'm not good at it. You're very good at it. No, you are. There's an art form to it. And I'm not saying that you follow s*** around here. I'm just saying... No, but you know what I mean? I'm not... You get frustrated with my small talk. No, you just... It's not small talk. It's large talk with you. What do you mean? It goes on forever. And that doesn't. It does. It does. Whenever people come up to us on the street and ask for a selfie or whatever, we always go, yeah, of course. you know of course we'll always say yes to a selfie we do a selfie and we go thanks they go thanks I go no problem walk off and I turn around he's still trying because Dex doing a follow up question which is what have you had a busy day it doesn't matter it doesn't matter if they've had a busy day they asked for a selfie you facilitated the selfie now it's time to move on
4:06Ant McPartlin:I just wonder what their day's been like up until that point yeah but why just to say if they've been busy you're busy
4:13Declan Donnelly:getting involved in other people's lives Mrs. Mangle he will chat to anybody I love it honestly anybody Dec doing small talk at a party is like it's it's his everything he could small talk all night into the early hours couldn't he into the wee small hour the wee man could small talk into the wee hours
4:39Ant McPartlin:I think I think it is just that like what have you been up to this week have you had a busy week what have you been doing and then I'm off. Do you ask the standard stuff like,
4:48Declan Donnelly:what do you drive? No, not bothered. What do you do for work?
4:52Ant McPartlin:Hmm.
4:53Declan Donnelly:Work? Does work come in there? Could do a bit, yeah.
4:55Ant McPartlin:If they go, I've been really busy at work, what is it you do? Has anybody ever snubbed you and walked off? Oh, I've been shut down a few times. Have you? Yeah, yeah. Anyway, I've got to go.
5:05Declan Donnelly:I loved to have been there.
5:06Ant McPartlin:I was enjoying that. I loved to have been there
5:08Declan Donnelly:when you were shut down. If you've ever shut down, Declan, please get in touch and let me know how you did it, when you did it, because I will happily
5:16Ant McPartlin:read that letter out. I've had a few people that have got their selfie and like, yeah, no, I've had a busy week, mate. I'm all right.
5:22Declan Donnelly:I've had a busy week. Yeah, two visits to shout to you.
5:26Ant McPartlin:Yeah,
5:27Declan Donnelly:I can't have you down again. It's good. Oh, God. Here's the next voice note. Hi, Anton Deck. My name's Evelyn. Hi, Evelyn. And I want to go to the moon. What planet would you like to go? Bye. Oh, Evelyn. You're gorgeous, aren't you? We love you.
5:46Ant McPartlin:How cute. Have you had an Ant and Dec birthday cake? Probably. Have a celebrity birthday cake? Evelyn, what a great question. Very good question. She wants to go to the moon. I'd like to go to the moon. I'd love to go to the moon. Did they land on the moon in 1969, do you think? I mean, just to delve into some conspiracy theories here. Did they fake the moon landing or was the moon landing real? She just wants to know which planet. She's just a kid. She's just a kid. She doesn't want to get into the conspiracy theories. the moon landed
6:14Declan Donnelly:she doesn't want to get into this rabbit hole I'm not interested in that well okay we'll get that answer a question first the moon the moon is the only one that we could possibly live on and Mars Mars but you've still got to wear helmets and whatnot if Elon Musk has his way we're all going to Mars yeah we are all going to Mars we can't we can't go any further than that like we it's not possible we can't you can't bend the laws of physics to get there can you not well you can't go faster than light to get to Pluto or Jupiter. We wouldn't live long enough to get there. Unless we could freeze ourselves.
6:46Declan Donnelly:She just wants to know which planet you're in. Yeah, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right. I am quite obsessed with The Moonlight and Fakery. Not the Moonlight and Fakery with anything to do with space. I just love it. Yeah. Do you remember there was that thing that was hurtling through the universe not so long ago and everyone said that. It's not a comet. It's an alien spaceship. It's the mothership and once it goes around the sun, do you see all these things? No, I missed that. Was this on TikTok? Yeah. Yeah. Once it goes... I'm watching a lot of TikTok at the minute.
7:16Declan Donnelly:Once it goes around the sun, it comes back, that's it, and we'll all be invaded by aliens.
7:20Ant McPartlin:I didn't see this on the news. It wasn't on the 10 o 'clock headlines before I said goodnight.
7:23Declan Donnelly:No, there were certain things on the... It did make the news, not the alien bit, but the fact that it was a comet, but it wasn't behaving like a comet. So it looked like it was accelerating, and it looked like instead of a tail at the back, which you normally get with any kind of gas coming off the back of it, the tail was at the front which was weird it was all a bit odd and they couldn't explain it

7:46Ant McPartlin:wasn't there something about an asteroid coming to earth and they had to blast it or something and knock it off course is that a thing or is that a movie
7:56Declan Donnelly:that's Armageddon the movie with Bruce Willis what the hell no but it was not something on the news I was watching something at Christmas that was Armageddon the movie no there was something
8:06Ant McPartlin:on the news about knocking something off course.
8:10Declan Donnelly:The mad thing is, which we never really think about as much as we should. Go on. We will get hit by an asteroid.
8:20Ant McPartlin:Like the dinosaurs. Was it a cometary asteroid or was it the aliens? What? Destroying the dinosaurs.
8:25Declan Donnelly:Shut up! What? What do you mean the aliens? Why would the aliens destroy the dinosaurs?
8:29Ant McPartlin:By mistake.
8:33Declan Donnelly:By mistake.
8:35Ant McPartlin:They did it by mistake.
8:36Declan Donnelly:Oh, shut up. Right, thanks, Alvin. Thanks so much, though.
8:39Ant McPartlin:Hope that's answered your question, Evelyn.
8:44Declan Donnelly:Side note, do you think they faked the mood like this?
8:55Ant McPartlin:It's quite an interesting rabbit hole, though, isn't it? It really is, yeah. It really is. Because didn't Kubrick say it was faked and he directed it?
9:03Declan Donnelly:Yeah, he's left clues throughout the end of his career. that this was the case. There's also a very good hollow moon theory. But the moon is hollow. Right. What's inside it? It's hollow.
9:19Ant McPartlin:It's not inside it. Do you know what hollow means? I thought it was hollow. It was hollow for a reason. There was something in it.
9:30Declan Donnelly:Anyway, I'm not here to lead you down that rabbit hole. But Google the hollow moon theory. in the car on the way home if you're driving don't go with anything but tonight and then report back to me the hollow moon theory
9:46Ant McPartlin:yes I love conspiracy theories do you like them? yeah I love them I'm interested in them I don't necessarily believe them but I'm quite intrigued as to people's conspiracy theories
9:55Declan Donnelly:what is a conspiracy theory you hope is true? can't think of one okay next time on our conspiracy theory special
10:03Ant McPartlin:thanks for your question Evelyn I hope that answered it it's the moon and Mars, I think. Yeah, the moon and Mars. Let's have another question. Hey, Undec. My name's Becky. Hi, Becky. And I wanted to see if you could rate my talent. My friends say that I'm good at it, but I have a feeling it might be a lie. So here is my impression of a trumpet.
10:36Ant McPartlin:It's definitely a lie.
10:38Declan Donnelly:It's not, but it was a bit poor to start with. Yeah, but actually, yeah. Then when the kind of vibratory bits came in at the end and all went a little bit kind of prohibition America. You know what I mean? I like that. Like Minnie the Moochah. Yeah, exactly.
11:04Declan Donnelly:How's our trumpets? Can you do trumpets? Yeah, that really, really good. Fiona?
11:11Declan Donnelly:Oh, there was a little tickle on the end there. You can't see Fiona, but it just comes out one side of her mouth. The left-hand side. Try the right-hand side. Oh, it's more of a clarinet. Lola? No, that's a phone ringing. Come on, do your trumpet. Do your trumpet. No, that's you just going... Do your trumpet. No, it definitely isn't working. Okay, you can't do it. Jemima? That's a bird. There's a bird in the studio.
11:48Ant McPartlin:Well, actually, judging by everybody else's attempts, yours is pretty good.
11:52Declan Donnelly:Yeah, Becky, you were exceptional. Yeah.
11:54Ant McPartlin:Very good. See you on BGT next year. Well done. Viola, one more time.
12:05Ant McPartlin:Let's have another voice note.
12:09Ant McPartlin:Hi, Ant and Dec.
12:10Declan Donnelly:This is Helen from Stockport. Hello, Helen. My question to you is, if you had to do a bush tucker trial, which one would you do and which one wouldn't you do?
12:22Ant McPartlin:Well, my list of wouldn't is quite long. So... Most of them. Most of them.
12:28Declan Donnelly:We've already done a Bush Tugger trial. So we did it for the 20th series of I'm a Celebrity. And we got surprised by Joel Dommett. If you haven't seen it, it's on YouTube. It's horrific. Horrendous. We had to do the Eaton trial. And I'm trying to think what we had. I definitely had a fisheye, which is horrible because it does pop in your mouth. Did you eat a witchy grub? Yeah, I think I did eat a witchy grub as well. which is Rob Fisheye and I must have had a drink. You had blended cockroaches, didn't you? To drink, yeah. What are you laughing at? He had blended cockroaches and then he spewed in the glass and had to drink it down.
13:03Ant McPartlin:I did that. I couldn't do it. I could not do it. It was horrific. He did.
13:05Declan Donnelly:He went, and then I had to try and drink it.
13:11Ant McPartlin:No, I couldn't do it. You couldn't do it. It was awful. It was a no. It was all right. It was going well. It was going really well. I started drinking it and it was going down. I thought, oh, this is easy. It's just a bit like a bit of kind of muddy water and I was drinking and then all the water disappeared and then there was this sludge at the bottom of the glass a surge of sludge and it just fell into my mouth and I just went I couldn't hold it in I went and I threw up that's what it looked like
13:37Declan Donnelly:like you're trying
13:38Ant McPartlin:to play the trumpet into the glass threw up into the glass it's on YouTube it must be on YouTube on the I'm a Celebrity so we've done that we've done I ate the I ate the egg the oh god yeah you did You did. Rotten egg. Yeah, you did. It was all right, actually. That wasn't too bad. Was it? Well, I love an egg, mate. Yeah, you do love an egg. There's not stink of like, stink bombs. I'd stuck around as well. Claggy.
14:01Declan Donnelly:Claggy. But then like, for the rest of the day. Oh, God, yeah. It was. God, imagine. See, I can't stand eggs at the best of times, unless they're in a scotch egg, you know, and eat the whites. Imagine that. Yeah, fermented egg was rough. Yeah. And we've also done cyclone. We did cyclone.
14:16Ant McPartlin:That was fun, though.
14:18Declan Donnelly:That was good fun. Didn't you do your shoulder?
14:20Ant McPartlin:Yeah, I fell on my shoulder. Never been right since. Still. Well, there's blame, there's a claim.
14:25Declan Donnelly:Have you stood out to me?
14:26Ant McPartlin:Not yet. Not yet, I will. One day.
14:28Declan Donnelly:I'd probably do most of them. You're out with the heights-y ones. I'm out with the heights-y ones. I'm all being buried on the ground. Not sure about that one? Yeah, I'll try that one. Rats? Yeah. Covered in rats? Yep. Covered in snakes? Yep. Covered in spiders? Mmm. Spiders? I don't love spiders. May have found his Achilles heel. I wouldn't like the head, you know, the helmet. Didn't we do that? Didn't we do that? Yeah. I'd forgotten we'd done that I think we did the headboxes
14:53Ant McPartlin:and we had to put our hands in something yeah I'm sure we did that as well
14:55Declan Donnelly:anything that you so you wouldn't do anything else
14:58Ant McPartlin:I'm not mad on heights but I would do it since we did the stuff on Saturday Night Takeaway I would do it I wouldn't really want to be buried underground with the rats and stuff no but the worst one for me would be the eating right and we've done it yeah but there's some of the stuff though I didn't do a testicle or a penis
15:14Declan Donnelly:we've got some good ones
15:15Ant McPartlin:and I don't intend to any time soon
15:18Declan Donnelly:we've got some good ones coming up I'm a celebrity South Africa.
15:21Ant McPartlin:Oh my goodness. There are some great trials in South Africa.
15:24Declan Donnelly:Epic, epic trials coming up.
15:25Ant McPartlin:Even the celebrities are in there going, wow, you guys have really upped the ante this year. They said this is so much harder. And the deckie.
15:36Declan Donnelly:Up the ante and the deckie. You're stupid. Just that stupid.
15:48Ant McPartlin:bit even the sleb said it's much harder in South Africa some great great trials coming up can I get
15:55Declan Donnelly:to the phone sorry I'm just going to take this terrible small talk right this is our last one oh come on I'm having such fun already hello Sam Thompson here what a complete honour to be sending in a voice note my question I don't know why I'm panicking oh my god but my question to you lads is um i know you lived together for a lot of your early years um what was the best place that you lived together with the most memories from years ago what was your favorite place that you both lived together and do you have any stories in that time but yeah that's that's my question i hope it's a good question i was thinking it all last night that's my question uh they also um they say never meet your heroes but i'm very glad i did because you guys are just the nicest, most loveliest lads in the world.
16:44Declan Donnelly:And if this is going on the pod, to everyone listening, when I was in Australia on my own, the lads used to invite me out for a beer and some food. We did. Just because they're such nice people and made me feel very welcome. And they're out-seat legends. And I love you both so much. And I'm going to stop rambling now because I'm panicking. Oh, we love you too, Sam. He's such a nice kid. He's a very nice guy. He's lovely. Isn't he? Yes. And I'm not just saying that because he was very nice about us. But he is. He's a genuinely lovely man.
17:11Ant McPartlin:Yeah, he is. He's a good soul. He's a good egg. And funnily enough, the place we had the most fun where we lived together, very apt coming from Sam, was in Chelsea. Yeah, it was. When we shared a flat in Chelsea on the river. Yeah, it was lovely, wasn't it? Really nice flat. It wasn't so nice after two years and we moved out. But we had an amazing time there. Lived there for ages. We're down the King's Road, hanging out down there. Yeah. had brilliant times do you remember when we did come to move out and they come and did the inventory of that flat yes and they kind of check how many glasses that
17:47Declan Donnelly:you broke you broke in and said oh you start with 20 you've got 16 right yours for four glasses do the cutlery and then they went around the kitchen
17:54Ant McPartlin:and there was always a cupboard we could never get open in the kitchen so we thought it was like whoever owned the flat that we were renting we thought it was a cupboard they'd locked shut and we just weren't allowed in it and the estate agent came around and had the clipboard and opened up the cupboard like this. Opened it like there was this little catch in there. Just opened it straight away and they went, dishwashers in working order. We're like, oh my God, it's a dishwasher. I swear to God. We had a dishwasher. Two years we lived there.
18:20Declan Donnelly:We didn't realise it was a dishwasher. Wow.
18:22Ant McPartlin:We just couldn't open it. We had no idea how to get the thing up.
18:24Declan Donnelly:We must have tried once each and that was it.
18:27Ant McPartlin:Yeah, we had a dishwasher.
18:28Declan Donnelly:Never used it. We got to a point where, because we'd both lived at home for a long time and then moved to London and when people came around we were like oh sorry about the pile of coats on the floor and they were like why did you leave coats on the floor and the answer was because we can let's just really like how bad is that because
18:47Ant McPartlin:we had a proper coat stand with the hooks on it and no one talked
18:49Declan Donnelly:but no one said you've got to hang that up so we didn't we just made a pile of them it was terrible really what a state no one had a bomber jacket it is yeah I think it's under my my jacket okay fine
19:00Ant McPartlin:it was fun times though
19:02Declan Donnelly:it was really good really good It was the 90s. Britpop was really big at the time. We used to go to gigs. We used to work a lot, but then we used to go down, watch the football on the King's Road. We used to go and buy clothes down there and loads of pubs. We used to go to this one pub we used to go to, and we got so pally with the guy who ran the chicken shop next door. Chicken Shop Pete. Chicken Shop Pete, that we would have drinks with Chicken Shop Pete. I'm a bit of a lock-in. We'd always include Chicken Shop Pete in our last couple of rounds because we knew we were getting hungry and he would then take us to the chicken shop and give us chicken.
19:38Ant McPartlin:Sometimes we'd have a lock-in at the pub, have another couple of pints, and chicken shop, people would nip next door and come back with loads of pies. They were great nights, those ones. Yeah, really good nights.
19:45Declan Donnelly:What was your weekly shop like? We didn't shop. There was Sainsbury's, I think, at the end of the road and we would get beers and crisps and stuff. We'd do takeaways most nights. Monday was Chinese.
19:57Ant McPartlin:Tuesday was Indians. Wednesday was pizzas. Thursday was Thai. then Friday we go back to Chinese.
20:03Declan Donnelly:Yeah, we used to just rotate them. It's terrible. We put on our two stone. Was it Tuesday that was our favourite night? Oh. That was Chinese then, the X-Files was on.
20:11Ant McPartlin:Yeah. That was our favourite night of the week. That was brilliant. Good times. Good times.
20:16Declan Donnelly:I enjoyed that. That was fun. As a Monday session.
20:19Ant McPartlin:That's not bad, that. We got through. We should do that again. We got through quite a lot of your messages that we don't normally get to go through in the main pod. It's a Monday but the mystery surprise this week is there's no one at the door! Instead we've got a yellow telephone with all YOUR voice notes - we get so many questions, we wanted to dedicate an episode to you...
Join the boys as they discuss conspiracy theories, reminisce on the days of sharing a flat, and rate a listener's very strange talent. We've got a real cute voice note and one from a very familiar voice.
We'll be back on Thursday for another Hang, but until then, keep your emails coming to hangingout@beltabox.com
