0:00Declan Donnelly:Coming up on the show, we chat about Britain's Got Talent, which starts this week. And they fell down the stairs. That was it. That's it. We've done take after take after take. Ant really doesn't enjoy one of the letters from our listeners. I'm just going to hold the crystal for the rest of this podcast because you wound me up. My butcher takes me on an unexpected adventure. I'm going to go out the back and he's going to show me like secret meat. My diary reveals a shocking revelation about Ant.

0:27Ant McPartlin:That is disgusting.

0:28Declan Donnelly:There was no toilet. What do you expect me to do? And I reveal why Deck is so annoying to eat a Chinese meal with. It's sophisticated how I do. It's not sophisticated. It's infuriating is how you eat Chinese. That's all coming up on today's Hanging Out. Enjoy the show.

0:49Declan Donnelly:Stick the lights on. I will stick the lights on. Respect, guys. It's on again. I'm not rehearsing. We are on air. Hello. Good morning. Good evening. Welcome along to The Hangout for more of hanging out with him and me. I thought we established, KSI established. All right, I'll do that again. Take two. Welcome to The Room. Yeah, that's it. Thank you. That's quite uninspiring. Really? It is. It is. So if it's not The Hangout and it's not The Room, it's The Attic. We're in The Loft. The Loft. It's The Hangout. The Loft is The Hangout. It's stuck now, isn't it? Well, we're back. Have you recovered from Monday from getting beaten to a pulp.

1:30Declan Donnelly:I mean, he's got quite a punch in him, hasn't he? If you haven't seen it, we had KSI here on Monday, came through the mystery door and ended up in a fight. So... Well, well... It ended in a fight. Punches were thrown. Yeah. So if you haven't seen it, go back and have a look at Mystery Door Monday. Yeah, have a look on YouTube because you want to see... Just subscribe to Belterbox, right? Go on to Belterbox and just see me get smacked by KSI. And you smack him, though, don't you? You have multiple times. I get stuck into him. Dex smacks him. He put Ant on the ground and I went, I'm not having that with my best mate.

2:01Declan Donnelly:Get in with him. Yeah, if you do go on Bellavox and watch this, we may have over-egged the pudding a little. Maybe. Clickbait. Is that clickbait? Ragebait. Ragebait. But it's great to see you. Do you know what ragebait means? That. So I've been going in the comments to see where you are. Of course you have. Nothing better to do. Going in the comments. Whereas I have a very busy life. I wanted to know where you're listening to. What is our reach out there? Let me stop that. I love knowing where we're being heard. So I'll put you on our little map. Shall I get a list of this map? It's not that little, but please get it.

2:38Declan Donnelly:Okay. So all of the yellow flags here, if you're listening, we've got a map here with yellow flags and all the yellow flags. Yellow flags. Our new location. My red flags is you talking about yellow flags. That's a red flag. So we have got some listeners now. Anita is listening in Massachusetts. Hey there, Anita. Hey there, Massachusetts, America. You ever been? Yeah, Massachusetts. No. Lisa in Orlando, Florida. Ah, hey there, Lisa. She sounds like she's traveled from Massachusetts. Yeah, she was born there. She moved to Florida. Yeah. Ever been? Yes, I have. You know I've been there. I know, but tell the story.

3:17Declan Donnelly:Go on, tell the story. Yeah, I've been to Orlando, Florida a few times for Saturday night. when we did the final episode from Orlando, Florida. Hey there. Hey, hey now. Great to see you again, guys. Lian is listening in France. Howdy. Oh, that was still America. Bonjour. Bonjour, Lian. Ever been? You see? Oui, oui. See? Oui, oui. See? Oui, oui. Oui, oui. Been in France a few times. You ever had frog's legs? I have had frog's legs. Yes. You ever had snails? Yes, I've had snails too. You dirty beast. Escogol. Oh. Have you ever had snails? Yeah, I've had garlic snails. Why garlic? Why throw the word garlic in there?

3:57Declan Donnelly:I just said, have you had snails? You've had garlic snails. Why did you feel the need to throw the garlic in there? Just a bit more detail. I just didn't pick up a snail on the floor, neither. It was like, it was prepared in a kitchen by a chef. That's why you said it, didn't you? What? It sounded like a dirty face. Nobody expects you. Nobody thinks when you say, I've just had snails, that you've eaten them from the garden. Well, just making sure. I don't want that reputation. And I've heard the rumour, so stop this. Whoever's spreading that rumour. Diane is listening to the Netherlands. You did.

4:29Declan Donnelly:He's nearly done. Not you, Diane. Not you, Declan. Have you ever been to the Netherlands? Yes, I have been to the Netherlands. Vicky is in Argentina. Hi, Vicky. In Argentina. I'd love to go to South America. Yeah, I've never been to South America. Argentina in particular. I'd love to go. Why? So ask the question. Have you ever been? No, I haven't. I'd love to go. Why? Because I'd love to do South America. I've been to Mexico, but I've never done kind of Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Peru. You get the picture. None of South America other than Mexico. I'd love to go. So, Vicky, if I can stay at yours, that would be a bonus.

5:06Declan Donnelly:Saves on hotels. Makes it a bit cheaper. Would be nice, wouldn't it? We could do a YouTube series where we go and stay at listeners' houses. Where we go and stay at viewers' houses. That would be good. Can we bring the team? Vicky, let us know if we can bring the team with us. She doesn't sound very Argentinian, Vicky. I think a lot of our listeners are British that have moved overseas. Oh, that doesn't count. Does it not? No, I don't think so. You've got to, well, you've got to really immerse yourself in the culture of the country. So if Vicky's immersed herself in the culture of the country, then we'll do it.

5:35Declan Donnelly:Okay. Sean and Lorraine are listening in Bangkok. There are a couple, aren't there, Sean and Lorraine? Do you think? Yeah, I do. Lorraine spells her name very differently. L-A-R-A. L-A-U-R-A. L-A-R-O-T, what? How does she spell it? So it's basically Laura in, Lorraine.

5:51Ant McPartlin:No, I think it's Laura in Bangkok.

5:54Declan Donnelly:No, it's Laura in Bangkok. Oh, short of Laura in Bangkok.

6:01Declan Donnelly:Oh, I thought it was Lorraine. It's short of Laura in Bangkok. We've got a lot more content out of this map this week than we normally do. You ever been? Yes, you know I have. Alice in the Niagara, Canada. You ever been? No, I haven't. We've established Canada last week. Nadia is in Arkansas. Arkansas. It's very different. It looks like Arkansas. Arkansas, USA. Have you ever been? No. How would you say hello in Arkansas? Hey there. Hey now. Toby's in Cyprus. Have you ever been? Yes, I have been to Cyprus. Have you ever been? I don't know, have I? I don't know. I didn't go with you. I'm not sure.

6:40Declan Donnelly:We're doing everything together. What's in Cyprus? Rhodes? No. What? Where's Rhodes? Rose is in Crete, isn't it? Crete, I've been there. Yeah.

6:54Declan Donnelly:I don't know if I'm going to do this. I don't know if I'm going to do this. Well, you should go. It's really lots of fun. If you go, you can stay at... Toby's house. Toby's house. If you would let us stay at your houses, this is genuine now. Let us know. And also, I insist on my own bathroom. I need an en suite. Oh, you wouldn't share family bathroom? No, no, I need an en suite. Right, okay. First thing you do in the morning, you get up and you poo's. So you don't want to disrupt that family dynamic, do you, babe? Family dynamic? Well, they might have a routine, you see. Dad goes first, then mum, then kids.

7:29Declan Donnelly:Just having to go on visions of you. Sorry, you can't go on, Dad. Deck's in there. Just going on visions of you. Really ruining the family dynamic. That week. I thought it'd be fun asking Deck for a man to come and stay, but it's just hog the bathroom. this old gym and it stinks don't start that rumour I've heard that rumour going around it stinks because you've been eating garlic snails all night and we're in Crete it's not even a local delicacy they weren't even in a restaurant it was just off the floor Matt is listening to the French Alps we still go with this Matt thing Matt is listening to the French Alps hello Matt I don't think Matt lives in the French Alps I think he's on holiday he must be scared right I see good that's the end oh great

8:07Ant McPartlin:one thing on it can you spot the spelling mistake

8:09Declan Donnelly:oh Greenland Russia Canada Brazil Australia Australia, Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean. Ah, Atlantic Ocean. Atlantic. Atlantic.

8:22Ant McPartlin:It is Sweden spelt. Sweden as well.

8:25Declan Donnelly:What? Sweden. Sweden, yeah.

8:28Ant McPartlin:What about that? Sweden and Sweden.

8:29Declan Donnelly:What's Svalbard? Svalbard? Svalbard. What is that? Anyhoo, there you go. There's the map. Thanks, guys. I thought, though, Google Gemini might be able to help us up our performance within the podcast a little bit.

9:05Declan Donnelly:Okay. Hi, Gemini. could you teach me how to do a convincing fake laugh for when my comedy partner tells a joke or a funny story?

9:16Ant McPartlin:That's a useful skill. To make a fake laugh sound genuine, try varying the pitch and intensity. Also, adding a slight breath before and after the laugh can make it more natural.

9:29Declan Donnelly:Could I try one and you give me some feedback?

9:31Ant McPartlin:Go for it. I'll let you know what I think.

9:39Ant McPartlin:That had some good volume. To make it more convincing, try a slightly less consistent rhythm.

9:46Declan Donnelly:Got it.

9:47Ant McPartlin:Thanks, Gemini. Happy to help with the comedy.

9:51Declan Donnelly:We need all the help we can get. She's funny.

9:54Ant McPartlin:Anytime. Keep practising.

9:56Declan Donnelly:Yeah, keep practising your fake laugh, yeah? On the podcast with me. With Gemini, you can chat live with a truly helpful AI assistant. You jump in, brainstorm ideas, ask for more details, or even show it what you're talking about by sharing your screen or camera as well. Check responses, setup required, compatibility and availability varies. 18 plus. How's your week been? Did you have any pancakes on Pancake Tuesday? Yes, I did. Always do. Yes. I'm flipping great at it.

10:35Declan Donnelly:Are you? Yes, I am. Prove it.

10:40Declan Donnelly:Toss. So, Decker's just given me a frying pan with... That's not a real pancake. That's not a show of Tuesday pancake. No, it's one I bought. That is like you'd have for breakfast pancakes. You probably flip these as well. How many flips can you get? It's on the wrist, I reckon. That went on a shot! Someone call Willy Nilly. Get Willy Nilly on the phone. Send them that footage. If you're just listening to this, I've broke a new world record. We don't know what it is? We think. But we think we broke a record. Yeah, I done pancakes. That's answer your question. Did you? What's your feeling of choice?

11:11Declan Donnelly:I like lemon and sugar for me. And the kids like chocolate. I don't see the point in them. What are you talking about? Once a year, it's a bit of fun. Even when I was a kid, I was like, I like the throw on them, but I was like, I'm not bothered about it. Oh, yeah, all the sugar on them. I love sugar. Never that bothered. I do, in all of its forms. I do. I really do. Have you given anything up for Lent? No way. Are you not? Certainly not sugar. Are you? No. I always think about it every year. You know what I should give up? What? Garlic snails. Done. No problem. And normal snails. And garden snails.

11:52Declan Donnelly:Give that up. Really? No, I always think I should do something every year, but I never get around to it. By the time it gets here, oh, it's Lent. I haven't decided to give anything up. I don't think I'll bother. Right. Okay. Should we do something next year? This year's gone. This year's gone. Next year, we can discuss it prior to Len coming up on the podcast. Podcasting? We can all give something up. We can give up podcasting. That's a good idea. Bananas. I'm not giving up bananas, Fiona. Screw you. Oh, yeah. If you give up bananas, I'll give up eggs. I'm not going to give up bananas. Why would I give up bananas?

12:26Declan Donnelly:They don't have to harm anyone. Am I harming you, bananas? No, but... Am I harming you? What harm are you doing to yourself? Look at your eyes, man. Look at the state of your eyes. My eyes are fine.

12:44Declan Donnelly:How's the week been? I've seen a lot of you. The whole point of this podcast was to hang out because we don't hang out. I've hung out more than I've ever hung out here. We've inadvertently spent lots of time together at the beginning of this week. That's why we're a bit giddy this week. We just feel a bit giddy. I beat the butchers a lot. Have you? I said to him, have you seen or have you listened to the podcast? He went, yes. And lots of my customers have. He says, thank you very much for mentioning the ribeye private registration plate story. I said, I'm really sorry about that. He said, no, I find it funny, mate.

13:16Declan Donnelly:I find it really funny. He said, I'll tell you what, follow me. I said, what? Here we go. I'm going to go out the back and he's going to show me like secret meat. Imagine that. Imagine going five minutes. He's going to show me some secret meat. This is taking a turn. He didn't. He took me out the front onto the main street, along the street. And I'm like, where are we going? So anyway, we'll get to the famous car with the famous ribeye number plate. And he went, there it is. Yeah, I've seen it. Yeah, I've seen it. It's all the story on the podcast. This is why, what? And he went, no, no, there it is.

13:52Declan Donnelly:And he went, and he opened his boot. He went, and there's another one. I went, what? Another private reg. He's got three of them. Meat based. They all say ribeye. He's got three, but the last letter is different in every one. So one's an E, one's an F, and one's a B. So technically, they don't all say ribeye. But nearest, damn it,

14:15Ant McPartlin:he's got three of them. Three different cars?

14:18Declan Donnelly:No. He's got one on the car and two in the book. I don't know why. I don't know why. Sounds like he's going to rob a bank. Anyway, he tried to sell me one, and then I was like, I'm not interested. I'm not interested in Meat based private registrations But then after me kind of Saying no I'm not interested I'm not interested He said I can give you the third one Because I don't think I'm going to use that one I'll give you the third one for free Shall I bring it in? Yeah And we can put it on the set? Yeah What if it's the one with the B on the end? Because that doesn't really It's alright It's a story attached to it Okay I'll pop down there next week And I'll get it

14:54Ant McPartlin:We've had some people Sent in some more meat based registrations Private registrations

14:59Declan Donnelly:Have they?

15:00Ant McPartlin:Yeah would you like to see?

15:00Declan Donnelly:I'd love to think some meat-based private reg.

15:03Ant McPartlin:Turn around. Oh, sausage!

15:05Declan Donnelly:Sausage! Sausage, sausage, sausage! So, if you're just listening, the first one is on a van. Oh, it's the Hot Sausage Company van. And the reg is... SA65AGE. The second one is JS05AGE. The first two are vans and they are sausage vans. Sausage vans? Yeah, that sells sausages. The first one is the Hot Sausage Company. Yeah. Second one is Churchgate Sausage Shop. And my butcher has the ribeye registration because he's a butcher. Why on earth does that person who just owns a Range Rover have the number plate sausage? S-O-55-A-G-E. Sausage. Sausage. Here comes Sausage. Here comes Sausage at the drive again, revving his engine.

15:57Declan Donnelly:Goodness me, there we go. there's the sausage registration plates thanks for sending pictures of your sausages your private sausages keep them coming in we like this this is very very good thank you sausage meat based bant oh I meant to say happy new year I thought we weren't doing that anymore happy Chinese new year oh Chinese new year the year of the horse was that this week it was this week same day as pancake day oh could I have Chinese pancakes now I'm interested Pancakes, I love them You love a Chinese, don't you? I love a Chinese It's your favourite takeaway? Absolutely It's your favourite place to go?

16:37Declan Donnelly:Yep Get a sit-down meal as well? Yep, love a Chinese What do you love about it so much? Look, his eyes went all dreamy then Like he was looking at the heaven like Ah, we should put music on that deck's face just then Tell you what I like All the dishes come And you can have a little bit of that bit you can reach and get the business. You can have some noodles. You can have some egg fried rice. You can have a little bit of chilli beef. You can have a little bit of chicken and black bean over there. You like a starter as well, don't you? I love the starters. Mixed hors d 'oeuvres. Mixed hors d 'oeuvres to start.

17:10Declan Donnelly:A few prawn crackers. Prawn crackers. A few prawn crackers. I love the event. I love the... Ritual of the whole thing. Ritual. That's a good word. I love the ritual. I love the process of having a Chinese meal. Tell everybody how I eat my Chinese. Oh. So when I'm in the restaurant I'll eat it You know you get your prawn crackers then you get your starters then you get your main courses So I love the ritual so much when I get a Chinese takeaway That's what he does at home? I do it at home What do you mean? Oh I'll tell you what I mean You have a lazy Susan He does have a lazy Susan at his house Yeah I do So he orders he's Chinese and you're like he used to text me going do you want to come around man we'll get a Chinese we'll watch a movie I was like yeah great You go around there he orders his starter then his middle course which is duck.

17:55Declan Donnelly:So he has like mixed starters. He's spring rolls and he's prone toast. Get that out first. You put everything else in the woman drawer. Anybody else would get a plate, put on their noodles, put on their main course, whack a little satay and a spring roll on the side. Then you sit down and you watch the movie. Not him. It's sophisticated. How are you? It's not sophisticated. It's infuriating is how you eat Chinese. Nobody wants that. You've got to keep pausing the bloody telly. We never watch any movies. Hold on a second. I'm just going to go and get me duck. Pause the movie. Hold on a second. Pause the movie.

18:24Declan Donnelly:I'm just going to go get some chow mein. Pause the movie. I'm not coming around to watch a movie anymore. It's the more refined way to have your Chinese food. Have it in courses. Your animal, just eating it all at the same time. Right. I'd love to know how you eat your Chinese. I reckon 99 % of people... I disagree. ...will eat it like me. Pile it all on one big plate. Let us know in the comments how you have your Chinese. If you go for the sophisticated angle like me and eat them as they should be eating in courses or whether you're a savage like Anne. Let us know in the comments. I bet you I win.

18:55Declan Donnelly:I bet you don't. I bet you I do. You just pile it all on there. Play. So once again, it's time for Dex Diary. It's the time already? Just before we do your diary. Oh, good shot. So I've got a letter here. Yeah. But before I read this, do you want to hear your jingle? Yes, please. Here it is. New jingle for this week.

19:15Declan Donnelly:Respect, guys. Tough vlogs. Respect, guys. Oh, my God. I like the doobie doobie doobie. No, I hope the letter explains more. Dear Andec, Ant, the T-shirt that you made and wore to make fun of lovely Declan says, respect guys. You missed out the comma. Shut up, Kieran. Your shirt basically says, we should respect guys. Well, yeah. Which, although a nice sentiment, probably wasn't your intention. Jesus. Lots of love to you both and to Declan especially, who I know would never make that punctuation mistake. Punctuation mistake Ant in capitals Was too polite To point out ants All the best Kieran Lifetime fan Do you know what Kieran It's people like you That stop people like us Doing our best work Because We don't need you Pointing out Little comma mistakes Like that Who are you The comma police We did put the comma On the respect guy's lap Over there So we did remember it Over there I don't know if you did I think that's been added.

20:21Declan Donnelly:Has it? Hold on. I reckon it is. I reckon I can peel it off. Well, I'm going to peel it off. Do you know what? Just to get on Kieran's nerves. Just to get on your nerves, because who spends time writing a letter to a podcast pointing out that they've missed a comma? Kieran. You know what? That wasn't on there, and now I've ruined the light because I've tried to pull it off and it's stuck to it. It's all your fault, Kieran. It's all your fault, Kieran. Oh. Grab your crystal. I've just got to hold me crystal for the rest of this podcast because you wound me up. Shall I get the diary? Yeah, well, I don't know if I'm in the mood now.

20:57Declan Donnelly:Let's try and move this along. Come on. This is April Fool's Day, 1994. Oh, yeah, of course it is, yeah. April the 1st, day five of Life on the Road. Up at after 12. Good English. Kieran, do you want to write the book? Kieran, do you want to write the deck about his diary written in 1994? Had a cuppa, chucked on some clothes and went to Pizza Hut. Oh yeah, I used to love going to Pizza Hut. With Ant and Annie from our management for lunch. Didn't eat a meaty pizza. That's unlike you? Yeah. Ah, why? Why? Didn't eat a meaty pizza because it was Good Friday. That's why. I was going to say Good Friday.

21:37Declan Donnelly:Good Friday. Picked up Darren, our relief tour manager. Who's Darren? Our regular tour manager goes off to tour with? New Kids on the Block. Let Loose. Ah, Let Loose, of course, yeah. Our manager, also managed, Let Loose. Eventually left after much showering and ironing. Why? Why much showering? I don't know. Dirty teenager, don't you? Just like on the poster with your dirty socks. He's a dirty teenager. Eventually left after much showering and ironing for Southend-on-Sea. Oh, wow. Well, you need a lot of fresh shirts for Southend-on-Sea. And we were there, so I would have had a hairdryer at our manager's house.

22:14Declan Donnelly:Ah, right, because she had a hairdryer. She had a hairdryer. She did. So that's why I'm chipper today. Arrived on time just after 7pm. However, the club hadn't even opened and we found out... Why are we getting to these places so bloody early? Even with a relief tour manager, we're still getting there early. The club hadn't even opened and we found out we wouldn't be going on stage until after 10.30pm. What are we getting there before 7 o 'clock for? I have no idea. Oh good I've written We were in this pokey little room With Hope Hope that it would go well? No Hope were a pop band Oh Who have also I believe that like But all we had was Hope Hope Hope were a pop band Hope and two songs That's what we had And Ant was dying for a wee So when they went on stage Oh God What did I do?

23:06Declan Donnelly:Ant started peeing in pint glasses Oh my God And left them behind the sofa. Did I? Me and Darren, the tour manager, eventually... The disgust on Fiona and Laura's faces is... Well, it's a lot.

23:23Ant McPartlin:That is disgusting.

23:25Declan Donnelly:It is disgusting. There was no toilet. What do you expect me to do? Go out and be mauled by crazed pants? I don't think so. Me and Darren, our relief tour manager, eventually made him empty it down the sink. Made him. And he left the unwashed... Made him. Made... Do it. Do it. Why didn't I just do it in the sink then? I have no idea. And he left the unwashed glasses in the sink. When Hope came off stage... When Hope came off stage what? Don't, no, don't, don't. When Hope came off stage... Don't. All sweaty and thirsty... They didn't. They did not. Loads of girls were shouting at the door. Richard from Hope picked up one of the glasses...

24:02Declan Donnelly:And said, I'm going to chuck the glass of water over them. Over the girls? And he did. we stopped him from doing it. We did. We did. See? The crowd was very small, only about 200, and weren't very loud either. Oh, well. Not as bad as yet on day one. Oh, yeah. But a bit of a left down after the last two, in comparison, superb gigs. And that is the 1st of April 1994. Oh, April Fools! I didn't really pee in a pint glass. He did. No, he absolutely did. It was just on April the 1st. I just thought I'd try and get out. It was my get out. It was a good try. All right? Good try. Oh, my God. Well, that's what happened on those days.

24:45Declan Donnelly:Sometimes we weren't left with a toilet. Life on the road, eh? Life on the road. Next week, we're off to Portsmouth again for a Now Roadshow. Oh. Join us for that next week. I will.

26:00Declan Donnelly:Big, nice Saturday. The start of the new series of Britain's Got Talent. We've seen it, haven't we? We've seen the first episode. We did the press launch this week. Eight bananas. I'm reviewing our whole show. Eight bananas. No, it's very good. It's a very good first episode. Yeah, really good. And a great series. KSI is now the permanent fourth judge. Yeah, he is. He stood in for Bruno last series and he's taken the job permanently now. He's great. A great addition to the judging panel. We had him on here the other day, like we said. He is a bit more brutal than I thought he was ever going to be.

26:31Declan Donnelly:He's more brutal this season than he was first time around when he was just like standing in for Bruno. because I think now he's got the job, he thinks he can just be more him. Giving good constructive criticism and good constructive feedback is important. It is. You should be realistic in what you can achieve, given what you've got. Like, I could never be an opera singer. I don't know. No, but I couldn't. I don't have the long capacity to be a really good opera singer. Or the interest. Or the interest. Yeah. Or the talent. Or the inclination. But you know what I mean? Now, if you said to me, press the red buzzer, because I don't think you should be an opera singer.

27:15Declan Donnelly:But if you want to go away and be a rapper, then fine. Then that's more suited to your ability. And the world knows I was better as a rapper. Yes, the world does know that. Yeah. Can we talk about you getting the giggles on BGT? I get the giggles a lot on BGT. It happens a lot. I get the giggles a lot in life. Yes, you do. But especially on BGT. so there's a famous clip that has been replayed quite a lot where you get the giggles where the guy oh the accordion band do you want to explain a little bit of backstory about that we were doing auditions in Scotland and we were doing this bit which was their intro and it was an accordion band I think it was wasn't it so anyway the band are walking past us and then the guy who runs the band gets off the bus last and he trips down the stairs and you're supposed to see what's going on here and he goes it's the Jimmy something accordion band and they fell down the stairs That was it.

28:03Declan Donnelly:That was it. That was it. We'd done take after take after take. And you couldn't get it right. You couldn't get the link, whatever we're meant to say to him. No. Take, I got into the teens of takes. And I didn't even have to say anything. I just had to stand there. It was me. This, normally what happens, it's normally my line that he laughs all over. And then when it's him, you laugh anyway. Oh my God, it was so funny. Postbag, letters. Are you ready for some letters? Should I get the post bag out? Correspondence, please. Let's see what we got this week. Correspondence. Oh, it's a big old bag.

28:38Declan Donnelly:Good one. This week, right. I've got a letter here. Oh, from Mia in beautiful Australia. Yeah, it is. That's what she says. Hello, Ant and Dec from beautiful Australia. Hello. When you guys reminisce about old songs you sang, there's something I always wonder. Were you self-taught dance or did someone taught you to dance? Teach you to dance, I guess that is. Mia, P.S. I think you're really great at dancing. Mia, I'm going to send this letter to Kieran because there's a couple of tense, glaring, tense issues here. Grammatical. Grammatical errors that Kieran can put you right on. Were we self-taught?

29:16Declan Donnelly:No, we had a choreographer. No, we had a choreographer. I used to hate it. I used to hate, hate, hate dance choreography because I just couldn't get it. And I found that it was really difficult. they'd always move on too fast, too quickly from one part to the next part, thinking you've got it, like we were trained dancers, and then we weren't trained at all. You did a bit of Irish dancing as a kid, didn't you? Yeah, I did Irish dancing as a kid, so I'd been through that choreography kind of background, but still hard.

29:46Ant McPartlin:Can you remember any?

29:48Declan Donnelly:Yes.

29:48Ant McPartlin:Can we see? No.

29:51Declan Donnelly:I'll see if I've got any old videos of me doing it. Yeah, somebody out there will have a video of Irish dancing. They will. And if they have, send it in. Have we got any more, or is that it? One more. One from Claire. Hi, Alan Deck. Hi, Claire. When I was about 10 years old watching Biker Grove, there was a magazine called Grove Gossip. Yes, there was. That was announced at the end of every episode. It said it got a CFAX stroke teletext to order a copy. Yeah. Remember that. I excitedly found the remote control, went on to teletext, and waited patiently until Biker Grove came up, quickly writing down the details with my pen and paper.

30:21Declan Donnelly:It said, send an SAE, stamped address envelope, to the following address. I'd never heard of that before, but I read that as send an SAE. thinking I had to write an essay for how much I like Back to Grove in order to get the magazine. So I went to my bedroom, wrote my essay, posted it to the address and never heard anything back and wondered why my copy of Grove Gossip never turned up. A short while later, I spoke to my dad. He said an SAE means a stamped address envelope and had to explain what it meant. I often wondered who opened the envelope and read my essay. They were probably very confused.

30:53Declan Donnelly:Much love to you both and respect, guys. Go ahead. That's cute. I wouldn't have got that though as a kid. S-A-E. Yeah. Yeah. But you used to say it, didn't you, whenever you watch like Live and Kickin' or Go Live or whatever. Yeah. But they would always say it over the top so you understood it. Even when they say send a stamped addressed envelope, I was like, what does that mean? Yeah, what does it mean? So it means, yeah, an envelope addressed yourself with a stamp on it, ready to plop it in and send it back to you. Yeah. But yeah, we're 10. How do you know to do that? Even now we had it. Like yesterday, our manager sent us both a long message about...

31:31Declan Donnelly:Oh, a long message. Yeah, she did. It was really long. Anyway, she's gone. Better than one of her voice notes. Oh, God, they go on. They do go on. She won't know. Hey, it's just me. Welcome to the dog. I'm going to leave my voice note. I'm going to leave my voice note because it's quicker. It's much quicker to leave a voice note. It's not for me, it isn't. Anyway, she sent this long message. and in it, throughout this message, she just kept going and a couple of questions on BB and BB and BB and we're like, what on earth are you talking about? And I thought, Do you know what it is, BB? I should not.

32:06Belterbox!

32:07Declan Donnelly:Yeah, it's bloody Belterbox! It's Belterbox! Neither of us had a clue. Neither of us had a clue! Just call it Belterbox! Huh? Baby, hey baby. Baby, that sounds really like. Baby, baby, baby. Baby, what does she mean, baby? We can include baby in this. There you go, baby. Baby, Bella Box. Thanks for all your letters. Keep the money and hanging out at BellaBox.com. This podcast is not only sponsored by Santander. The next bit of the show is inspired by them because Santander are all about helping people take step forwards, which isn't always easy. That's exactly what we're about to do in the new segment we're calling Agony Ant and Air.

32:48Declan Donnelly:Right. So we've had members of our team sending us dilemmas, situations that they're having problems with and they would like your advice. And I'm obviously very good at giving advice. Are you? Yeah. Are you? Yes, I am. What is your track record of this? 100%. Example, please. And example. I can't give you examples. Let's just get them out as well. Do many people come to you for advice? Yeah, all the time. Okay. Face your fears and do it anyway. That's what I tell people. Do it scared. Next. What is it? Yeah, face your fears, do it anyway. Next. Okay. Do it scared. Next. Okay, this is from one of our team.

33:25Declan Donnelly:Right, okay. Dear Agony Antande. Yes. I'm getting married this summer. Good for you. And I'm really, really excited. Oh, good. So you should. However, there are still so many things to work out and I'm starting to get decision fatigue. Ah, okay. Do you know what that is? Yes, I do. So she's making a lot of decisions. And she's tired from it. And she's tired from it. Yeah, I said I got it. The flowers. Yes. The hymns. Yes. The transport. Yes. Dietries. Yes, that's a pain, isn't it? There's always a vegetarian. Vegetarians I can cope with because at least that's a, you know, a vegetarian meal and then a carnivorous meal.

33:58Declan Donnelly:But then it's the gluten freeze and all the rest of it. The allergies. That's tough. I'm finding it a lot at the moment. I can imagine you are. Have you got any encouraging words of advice for balancing everything and not getting overwhelmed? What steps can I take to make this process feel easier? Don't do it all at once. Just take your time. Well, she, this is the problem is that she's had a lot of time. yeah she's left everything to the last minute well even then you can't just you can't spend the night making all these decisions because you'll just end up saying no to everything that's what I do if I leave it too late I think what about if you were to give each subject a day so like there's no point in doing the flowers and the transport on the same day no you've got to split them all up yeah that's what I mean and then have another day just where you're just listening along and picking some hints yeah exactly take your time take your time even if you've only got I don't know a couple of months left then just do a day have a couple of days off then do a day have a couple of days off then do another day what words of advice would you give to her husband-to-be if she's possibly turning into a bit of a bridezilla I would say bear with it yeah bear with it don't say calm down love that's the bad news don't ever say that just stick on the old tin hat don't rage bait her don't yes we've just we've learned that phrase recently of KSI.

35:21Declan Donnelly:We'd like to use it. Don't rage bait your wife-to-be. And just tin hat on. Yeah. Do you know what? Yes, dear. One of the best bits of advice is most people, in fact, all of the people who you've invited to your wedding want to come there on the date to celebrate you two. That's a very good point. They don't care about your flowers and they don't care about the meal. They don't care about any of that. They just want to be there because they want to see you two get married because you're that much in love with one another. So always remember that. Nothing's that important. Apart from the hymns. Make sure you pick good hymns.

35:51Declan Donnelly:Like? I like a good sing. Like? All things bright and beautiful. That's a good one. Yeah, that's a good one. That's a good one. Guide me, O thou great Redeemer. Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da. That one. Bread of heaven. Yeah. Bread of heaven. Feed me till I want no more. I want no more. Oh, go to people who you know, know about these things. So when it comes to things like hymns, ask deck. Ask Antan deck. And there. Antan deck, and there. Got another one here. More for me. Dear Agni Antan, there. Yes. I've recently moved out of London to a new area with my family where we don't know anyone.

36:32Declan Donnelly:Same here. I'm really keen to make some new friends and a network in our new town. And I've seen there's an astronomy club. Tell me more. My wife bought me a telescope for Christmas. Handy. I've emailed the group but I'm really nervous to go I'm worried it's perhaps a bit nerdy and making new friends as an adult is scary too any advice coming from a nerdy kind of guy what's he called do we know I do know do you want to know yes Dan Dan don't care what other people think you're a nerd I like that don't care no who cares who cares that people think you're a nerd so what some of the coolest people in the world are nerds it's true No, nerds make the world go round.

37:17Declan Donnelly:Nerds invent things. Nerds were the first ones ever to go on voyages, to discover new lands, to come up with... Nerds come up with medicines that keep you well, don't they? Yes. Nerds are responsible for everything good in this world. Nerds? More nerds, please. Nerds, read the Guinness Book of Records. There's nothing wrong with that. Yeah, that's right, you're a nerd. What? What? There's nothing wrong with being a nerd. There's nothing wrong with being a nerd. There's nothing wrong. I wonder if it's near me, because I've just moved out of London to a new part of England and if there was an astronomy club near me, Would you go?

37:51Declan Donnelly:Yes, I'd go. Would you? Yes. And I wouldn't care what you said about it, what Viola said about it, what Lola said about it, especially Jemima. Wouldn't care what Jemima thought about it. Wouldn't care what Jemima, especially Jemima. Especially Jemima. There you go, Dan. Dan, do it. Just do it. Do it scared. Do it. Feel the fear. Yee-haw. Yee-haw? Just do it, Dan. Yee-haw. And Dan, if you can let me know what it's like, because if it's near me, I'll join you. Dear Agony Antander, I really want to learn to lift weights. Probably asking the wrong guy here. Yeah, what? But that part of my gym is so intimidating.

38:28Declan Donnelly:Please can you help me up with the words of encouragement I need to march over to that side of my gym confidently? What can I do to help me step out of my comfort zone? Well, do you know what you can do is what we used to do. Do you remember we had that challenge? so we do the press up challenge right this is genuine where we would do 50 press ups a day doesn't matter what time of day you do them as long as you take off 50 by the end of the day you can do five press ups 10 times a day yeah or two sets of 25 yeah you wait for the kettle of oil bang out 10 do 10 layer so you could do 12 then they get the math yeah they get all that so then that builds up a little bit of strength a little bit a little bit of you know strength and your upper chest and your arms.

39:12Declan Donnelly:So then you can walk over that side of the gym and think, I'm going to do five press-ups. I'm going to do 12 press-ups. I'm going to put a kettle up on. I'm going to do another 12. No, because then you can walk over that side of the gym and you're like, I don't care. I'm going to pull out a weight and I'm not going to struggle here. A little bit of base strength. You've got a base strength in there. That's a good idea. A little bit of building up at home first and then you can walk over there confidently. Confidence. And actually, if you cared about what those muscle mairies are doing, then don't.

39:39Declan Donnelly:Because nobody's bothered. No. They're not. We're not bothered. We're really not. But everybody thinks we're all bothered. Everybody thinks we're all thinking about one another. We're not. I never look at what anybody else is lifting. Nah. And do you know what? If they're the kind of people who film themselves in a gym, then drop. Come on. Who cares? Because I don't. Get on your press-ups. Yeah. Get some base strength. Yeah, exactly. Get over them and then show them. Yeah, exactly. The Muscle Mary's. Nerds. Muscle nerds. Well, very good. that is all from Agony Antander for this week. But you know who else is good at doing this kind of thing?

40:14Declan Donnelly:The nerds at Santander? Santander, yeah. Yes, Santander are working hard to help their customers build the confidence they need to achieve a goal that matters to them. Santander, it starts here.

40:27Ant McPartlin:I've got you a tattoo.

40:28Declan Donnelly:Right. Oh, you fell short there. First one you've fallen short with. What a shame. We've got a paper plane coming in here because we have got a suggestion for a tattoo for Ant. I am all ears. I hope it's not all ears because that would be a terrible tattoo. We are getting some suggestions in. Please keep them coming in. Ant is going to get a tattoo probably this time this summer. Let's just let's not commit to anything yet. But we will get a design from you the viewers and listeners. This one's from Catherine. Hi Ant and Dec. Hi Catherine. And team. Hi. Oh they all perked up then, didn't they?

41:09Declan Donnelly:I've designed a wee tattoo. She's Catherine from Ireland. I've designed a wee tattoo for consideration. It's called a Trinity Knot. And I've made a small tweak to the original Celtic design to incorporate the initials A and D. The Trinity Knot symbolises eternity, unity and interconnectedness, eternal love and unbreakable bonds. It's also an Irish symbol representing your shared Irish heritage. Yes. I think that definition is very apt when it comes to you two. And so incorporating your initials maybe gives it more depth to the meaning. I hope you like it from Catherine. That's not bad, Catherine, to be fair.

41:41Declan Donnelly:I like that a lot. I've got a tattoo here, which is a triangle and a circle. On your wrist? On my wrist. It's a little bit similar to that. So we might need to add a little bit extra. But that's the best one so far. Certainly is. It is, isn't it? That's top of the list, that. That is a great tattoo design. And the A and the D in there. Yeah. You're not sure about the A and the D? Yeah, I like the A and the D. Okay. Yeah. I like it. What do you think, Tim?

42:12Ant McPartlin:That's great. Yeah, you like that? Yeah. It's a little bit...

42:16Declan Donnelly:Go on.

42:17Ant McPartlin:Culty.

42:18Declan Donnelly:Culty? Culty. Like psychandrix?

42:21Ant McPartlin:Kelty as well. Kelty. Kelty and culty.

42:23Declan Donnelly:Kelty and culty. Oh, let's leave it there. It's not going any further than that one. What did you call me? What did you call us? Kelty and culty? That's my short face in. I think it's a bit Illuminati.

42:34Ant McPartlin:Maybe. That's where I'm...

42:36Declan Donnelly:Illuminati if we ever start a cult that could be on our robes yeah let's start a cult should we start a cult? well we did the cult of Ant & Dec we had the cult of Ant & Dec years ago didn't really catch on though that was our least successful album on the front of Smash Hits we did the cult of Ant & Dec yeah we did not bad he says not bad I like it thank you Catherine we like it a lot do we know who's going to do this tattoo? I'm doing it definitely yes you can't do it why not? you're not trained doesn't matter of course it matters how hard can it be? Well, hard enough that people have to bloody study for it.

43:09Declan Donnelly:And train for it. Be all right. We can do a little bit. I'll let you do a little bit. Can I? Yeah. But then we can get a proper tattooist in. Either that or we get Ed Sheeran in, because he can do tattoos. Can he? Yeah. Can he? I'm sure Ed Sheeran tattoos now. No, he hasn't given up singing now, he's a tattoo artist. I don't mean that. I mean, I'm sure I've seen somewhere that Ed Sheeran does tattoos. I think you've dreamt that. Ed, if you're listening, watching, get in touch. He's a big fan of the pod. He is a big fan of the pod. He is a big fan. There you go. That's all we've got time for. Yeah, that's it.

43:39Declan Donnelly:We have to go now and I really need the toilet. I'm going to get you going to pint glass and leave me behind the sofa. I genuinely need the toilet. Keep all your letters, voice notes, jingles, anything at all coming in. If you want to get in touch about anything at all, then please do. It's hanging out at belterbox.com. And don't forget to give Belterbox a subscribe and to follow us on your chosen podcast provider. And we will be back here on Monday with another bonus app until then. Respect, guys. Respect, guys. See you later. Bye. I wanted respect. I'm in court. Bye. Bye. Bye.
