0:36Hi everyone, welcome to The Hangout, Ant and Dec here, hanging out with you again. That was a very quick and awful... Well you always get in first, so I just wanted to get in.
0:44Ant McPartlin:But the way you did it wasn't very warm, it wasn't very welcoming, you're just like, I just need to get there first, welcome to The Hangout. That's exactly what it was, yeah, yeah. Hi guys. Hi everybody, welcome to The Hangout for another hanging out with him and me. It's your... Bonus episode! Woo! Nice fingers. If you just listen, I'll just give... What do you call that? I don't know what you call that. What is that? Rock fingers? Don't they rock? Is that rock? What's that? That's... Wee! You know when you put your thumb out and your little finger, that's like a surf thing, isn't it? Yeah. That's true.
1:17My girls do that. I don't know why. Hey, great dinner. Thanks, Dad.
1:24Ant McPartlin:Wow. Wow. They don't go, great dinner. Eight bananas. Not yet. I have tried to include a lot of banana ratings in the house on a daytime. Hasn't caught on yet. Hasn't really caught on. Hasn't caught on with any of you guys? No? Getting there. Getting there? Have you noticed something? What? Lola. Hi, Lola. Hi. Hi, how are you? You okay? You're back. I'm back. Not only is she back. What? She's back on the tools. Yeah, why are you on the cameras? I just like switching it up a bit. Do you? Lola's on camera today. Yeah, she is. Yes. So remember that short? Back to the Floor. Back to the Floor. They used to get the boss of the company and the boss of the company had to come and work with the employees.
2:06Yeah. Is that how it feels? Yeah. And then do you like secretly rate us at the end of the day? See who gets a pay rise and who gets a demotion and promotion.
2:15Ant McPartlin:She's come out of Heckler's Corner over there. Yeah. She left Fiona and Jemima behind and she's back on the tools. Now. Oh. What? For those of you listening, and has brought with him a Tupperware. Nice Tupperware. That's a posh one as well. That's a posh one that keeps all of the air sucked in or out, whatever the way you want it. Sucking the air in. This is a Tupperware. Keep the air in. Keeps the air in, right? Keeps the air out because doesn't the air make a good job? Yeah. So keeps the air out. But whatever air was in there to start with, it's still in there, guys. Anywho, what else is in there rather than air?
2:50Well, you're going to be very, very pleased with this. Am I? Listen to this. If you're just listening, that's one flap. That's the second flap.
3:00Ant McPartlin:Oh, you've got another two of them to look forward to. That's the third flap. There we go. All four flaps are open. We're ready to go. Ready for a... In my Tupperware... Oh, look. ...of sausage rolls. First of all, how a little smell. They smell good. Secondly, have a little taste. I had a little tea party around at mine yesterday, and I thought, I know a little fella who likes a sausage roll. Oh, they're good. Good, right? Where's the meat from? Not my butchers. Oh, okay. But a butchers somewhere, I presume. Anyone else? There's four left. Well, actually. Nicer. While we dig into the sausage rolls, introduce today's episode.
3:41Ant McPartlin:Go on then. We have a lot of fun making the podcast and occasionally we do run over a little bit and get a bit carried away. We do. Especially around your letters in the post bag. Which we love, by the way. Which we love. So sometimes we can't fit them all into the main pod. No. So what we're going to do today is have a look back at some of the letters we haven't used over these last, what is it, 10 weeks? Nine weeks? 10 weeks? Whatever we've been on air. Eight weeks. So, yeah. So we're going to look at some of the letters we haven't used over the last eight weeks. Stick them in this pod. We'll sit here.
4:13Ant McPartlin:And eat sausage rolls. And eat sausage rolls. And we'll see you on the other end. All right? Enjoy. Enjoy it.
4:23Ant McPartlin:Oh, this is a good one. Hi, Ant-Dec. Hi. A couple of podcasts ago, you asked for funny PG and Duncan stories. Yes. Did we? Yes. Well, maybe. Maybe we did. Well. I don't know, did we? Did you? Well, I have one. Oh. Oh, Ant's putting up his feet on the desk here. Come on. PG and Duncan were performing at Sunderland Empire, and my younger sister absolutely loved you. So I bought her and her friend a ticket. I am 10 years older than her, so I didn't get myself a ticket. Ha ha. It was for kiddies I decided to sit in the bar And wait there Till the concert finished Good call After a couple of whines I got talking to a bunch of lads Similar age to me Transpires They were aunt's school friends I know exactly this night And I know exactly the friends Go on, carry on You didn't get off with any of them Did you?
5:11Ant McPartlin:Apologies That I'd come through To join him at the Backstage party Yes One lad in particular Seemed to be showing me Quite a lot of attention so I used it to my advantage. I asked him if he could get me and my sister into the backstage party to meet you guys. After having to promise him a date and a quick snog, he was as good as his word and we got into the party and I succeeded in getting my sister a photo with you. I can't remember the name of the school friend I snogged as I wrong numbered him. I really wish I could find the picture to attach with this email, but I can't. I will find it eventually.
5:44Ant McPartlin:We're now 50 and 40 and we still love you both. Never change, you make us laugh so much. love from Kate and my baby sister Laura in Sunderland thank you Kate and Laura I knew exactly your dirty dogs I knew she was going to go on to say that my friends were there because I remember it they didn't watch any of the gig they sat on the ball and clearly got off with our fans well at least they enjoyed the whole process you know they used my pop stardom to their advantage well done well done them well done and I know I'm not going to say his name but I know exactly who it was as well. Quite a good kisser apparently though.
6:21So well done, Kay. I haven't kissed him. I'm just saying. Apparently he is. He is. Was it? Yes, he was. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
6:35Ant McPartlin:I've got another one here from Amy. Listening from my sickbed as I have ruptured my ACL. Oh, that's painful. Ouch. Oh, Amy. Get out of tune, Amy. I'm quite a clumsy person on the whole. I'm wondering what's the funniest way you've gotten injured. Respect, guys. Thank you for everything. You're welcome, Amy. It was nothing, really. I'll cut you what I've done. You're quite clumsy, aren't you? I'm very clumsy. If I can fall off it, I fell off it. If you can slip over it, I've slipped over it. Ironically, you have actually slipped on a banana skin before. Yes, I have. Like in the cartoons. Was it one of your own banana skins?
7:12No. No, it wasn't. It was a banana skin on the street, on the pavement. and I was walking along and I saw it and I thought, oh, I'm going to stand on that. I'm going to stand on that and I literally fell on my backside. Slipped on a vanilla skin. So yeah. You've slipped quite a lot on telly. I've slipped a lot on telly. BGT. I'm a celebrity. BGT twice? I'm a celebrity twice? Takeaway probably? Probably. Must have done. Yeah. You're not that clumsy, are you? Not as a rule. Not as a rule?
7:38Ant McPartlin:I try not to be. Brought me on, didn't I? Brought me on when I fell off the bike. Yeah, you did. We did a stunt on Saturday Night Takeaway which was to do a motorcycle jump through a ring of fire. I don't know why we had to do this. Whose idea was that? We practiced. We went and trained for two days with the white helmets. We did. And then it came to the actual challenge and they lit the ring of fire. And that was the first time we'd ever done it with the fire was on the actual challenge. So I rode my bike up to the ramp, hit the ramp. And you're meant to accelerate. You're meant to go like that.
8:10You can't decelerate because you'll just fall off like that.
8:13Ant McPartlin:So you hit the ramp and you've got to go like that with the acceleration and it flies you up in the air. So I hit the ramp and I hit the ramp and then I kind of half did that and then you go through the ring of fire and like you just go through this intense heat and almost like your, me helmet filled with smoke and I just went, and I just fell off the end. I went up in the air and I just fell off the end, came down face first, fell off the bike, broke my elbow and thumb. I think the video is actually on the YouTube channel, on BeltlerBox YouTube channel. Is it? I think the video's up there. I'd like to see it again, actually.
8:48Ant McPartlin:Well, you never actually saw it, did you? No, I was stuck in a booth because I wasn't meant to see. So the whole challenge was who could jump the furthest through the ring of fire and we were going to measure the distance. And I was stuck in a booth in the middle of this field. He wasn't allowed to see how I did. So I couldn't see Dex attempt. And then I had headphones on and I think I had a blindfold on. I don't know why I was in a booth. Facing completely the other way. Facing the other way. and I was there for ages and I remember thinking what was going on? They must have been held up filming and then eventually someone kind of knocked on the door and I answered it took my headphones off and the blindfold off and all I could see was these people in white helmets just making a ring around Deck and Deck was on the floor so I just feared the worst I thought he was dead it was genuine fear and I raced over there I thought well at least I've won this one Yes, point them me point to me it'll be the last point because he's the no i've raced over there and i was like something must have seriously gone wrong and obviously it had he'd um took a horrible fall but they were apparently there was loads of paps in the trees so these white helmets formed the ring around you to stop them taking pictures of you in agony yes very nice of them that was nice but to me that looked like they were bowing their heads and they were like giving me a send-off giving you a send-off and giving you the last rites or something we should probably watch it again.
10:12I mean, I could just go on Belterbox any day of the week, but let's watch it now. Oh, yeah, I've got a blindfold on, look. Yeah, I told you. Yeah, blindfold and headphones in a booth facing the other way. It's a lot of small It's a lot of fire, that, isn't it?
10:24Ant McPartlin:Look, my visor's not down. That's why I filled with smoke. You should have shut your visor. Should have shut my visor. Right. Don't decelerate, Dad. I'm not going to. Don't decelerate. I'm not going to. I'm not going to. I've decelerated, guys. I've decelerated. I've decelerated. You look... Oh, oh, oh.
10:41out in the circle. We didn't show the circle on the telly.
10:45Ant McPartlin:That was really painful. And they ended up having to do the rest of the series in a sling. So we had to tailor all the rest of the Ant vs. Dex to things Dex could do. One-armed. One-armed. One of it was Darth.
11:01Ant McPartlin:This is from Grace. Hi, Ant and Dex. When I was younger, six to be precise, I had a birthday cake with you guys on it. What? And I'm a celebrity. themed birthday party. I also got masks of the you both, which I wore with my friend. At six? It looks like our actual size. It's very cute. Two little kids with a deck mask on. You can't see it's very cute. It's your face. No, but look at them in their little... It's your face and my face. Look at a little pink hoodie with J2O down the front, a Robinson's fruit shoot down it, and a bit of birthday cake down it. Dex actually got that hoodie in real life.
11:42Ant McPartlin:And they've got deck masks on, which they've bought from the joke shop. Very trendy as well, and your jorts, jean shorts. That's not actually me. No, I know, but she was very trendy back then. I thought you were directing them at me. Jorts are in, aren't they? Jorts are a real thing now. That is very, very cute. That's very cute. But I'm very surprised that I'm a celebrity theme party at six. You shouldn't even be watching the show at six years. It's too scary at six, isn't it? I don't know if it's scary, but there's some choice language. No, but like the Bush Tucker Trouts can be scary. Yeah.
12:11Do you know what I mean? And there's lots of f***ing... Oh, I'd have to bleep the whole thing. There is, though. She shouldn't be hearing that.
12:17Ant McPartlin:And saying there's lots of silly gooses. And flipping. Flipping. Lots of flipping and silly gooses.
12:27Ant McPartlin:Well, I've got another one here. Good. It's a long one. It's from Helen. Hi, Ant and Dec. Hi, hi, Helen. Cast your mind back to the 90s. I was in the TA up in Newcastle. Territorial Army? I think so. And in our group, we had a mix of lads and lasses. Proper canny bunch. One of them worked behind the bar at the BBC Radio Club. On Tuesday night, he's missing from our TA meeting because he's on shift. But he tells us beforehand, pop in after, I'll sort yous out. With a drink, I presume. I don't know. I presume that's what it means. It sounds really dodgy. Stay tuned. So off we trot, five of us, lads and lasses together, still in full uniform.
13:08Ant McPartlin:We push open the door and walk straight into what can only be described as a biker grove reunion party. Cast, crew, nostalgia everywhere. And right there, like we'd stepped into a time warp, our aunt and deck themselves were there. Yeah, we were there. We froze. Five squaddies in uniform standing in the doorway like we'd accidentally wandered onto a TV set. I'm thinking, brilliant, we're going to get hoied out before we've even blinked. But no, nobody looked twice. If anything, we blended in What? How can you blend in with a bite of Grove Union When you're in full combat gear? Maybe they thought we were part of the entertainment So we head to the bar Where our mate's grafting away We order our drinks, go to pay And he just waves us off with a Nah, nah, don't worry, we'll sort it out later So we stayed, had a proper canny night Drinks flowing, great crack Next morning, I message our mate Mate, we never paid for those drinks and he goes, completely casual.
14:08Ant McPartlin:Aye, it's fine. I stuck them on Biker Grove's bar bill. Did they? Good lad, well done. So, Ant and Dec, if you're listening, cheers for the drinks, lads. We owe you a couple. Love, Helen. Helen, you owe us a night out. Yeah, you do. Wow. That's good. I don't mind that. I don't mind paying for someone's drinks if they just whacked it on the bill. Don't you? That's brilliant. Because to be fair, we probably would have been quite loud and there's a lot of us all talking bikerisms. do you know what I mean though told that biker back in the day lots of grove gossip yeah lots of grove gossip yeah exactly there's going to be loads of grove gossip Jeff would have been there yes few of us would have been getting off with one another so it's what used to happen back in the day so I bet they you know to be fair to them buy us a couple of pints for putting up with that yeah and whatever you saw keep it to yourself yeah exactly you see he didn't mention anything did he she she she Helen well done Helen didn't give any secrets well done Helen well done Another one here from Lee Hi Lee Sorting out some old stuff In readiness to move house I came across this old programme From 1992 When we at Grange Hill We at Grange Hill What?
15:15Ant McPartlin:Played your Biter Grove team At Boreham Woods Football Ground Yes Remember that Look at that Yes That's brilliant I do remember this I don't remember the score And we later came to Newcastle To play you for the away leg I think we won I think Biter Grove won I ended up playing Mr Hankin for around 150 episodes and loved the part the cast and camaraderie up at Elstree Studios best regards Lee I remember that very well look there's Lee number 11 and me number 11 number 11 who else did we have in our team Jill Halfpenny was on our team my ex-girlfriend yes playing Claire Buckfield was in the Grange Hill team your ex-girlfriend Nicola Bell number 13 my ex-girlfriend
16:02Ant McPartlin:and Adam Woodyard in Beal and EastEnders. Your ex-boyfriend. How did I know that was coming? They've even spelled his name wrong. Adam Woodyard. I call him Adam Woodyard. He'll be livid with that. Your name's a spelt wrong too. What? My name's a spelt wrong. Oh yeah. Declan. Oh yeah. There's an extra E in my name. I don't have an E. Adam McPartin. Whoever's done the programmes had a mare. There's no L in mine and there's a random E in yours. Hey, Alan Deck, says Lewis. Last week, I fell down a rabbit hole. Oh, that's unfortunate, isn't it? Gosh. Thanks to you mentioning Why Me by PJ and Duncan, and I discovered When I Fall in Love.
16:48Ah. You both performed on Top of the Pops back in November 1997. I just have one question. Will Deck ever bring back the mullet? Do you mean this mullet? We've got a picture here. It's us on Top of the Pops back in 97. And we're wearing all white. And yeah, that is a mullet. Was that your hair? Was that clipping? Extensions. It was extensions. No, it was my hair.
17:15Ant McPartlin:I don't remember it being that long. Neither do I. I don't know what the plan was with that haircut. It's just trendy. Was it trendy then? It's trendy now. It's probably quite trendy now. Yeah, I didn't foresee 2026 mullet trend in 1997. It's very Nolan, sister. Isn't it? Yeah. It never fails to surprise me that we can get shown these photos and I don't remember that jacket. I don't remember stuff. I obviously remember being on Talk to the Pops every now and again, but I don't remember a specific performance. I certainly don't remember that performance. No, I don't either. Do you? No. I remember doing it for the first time when we sang Let's Get Ready to Roll.
17:53Oh, yeah. And because it was all new and exciting. And we were so nervous. I'm really nervous. and we had to sing it live because they insist upon you singing live. I presume we were going to sing live on this as well. But I don't remember. I don't remember this performance. It seems like a different person that that happened to. Is that how you can read your diary without embarrassment? Yeah. Because it feels like a different person. Yeah, I know what you mean.
18:20Oh my God, wasn't that great?
18:22Ant McPartlin:Wasn't that a fun? The sausage roll at me. Oh, wow. How many did you have? I had two. I had the lion's share of sausage rolls. He's finished the saucy rolls. Well, I hope you enjoyed that, that little look back at some of the letters we haven't been able to use. So we're going to do that every eight weeks or so? Yeah, maybe. Good, okay. If we overdo it a bit, we'll keep some stuff back and maybe catch up in a few weeks. It's running pastry. You're going to need a roller for that. Anybody got a lid roller? Anybody got a lid roller? Anyone? No? We're going to need that. No, Lola? No. Listen, thanks for tuning in, But also, thanks for all of your letters, all your correspondence.
18:58Ant McPartlin:Keep them coming in to us, hanging out at ButlerBox.com. We love hearing from you and we love making the pod with you. So... I'm going to get into yesterday now. Yeah, you've eaten too much. That's too much pastry in one sitting, that is. What was I thinking? What a savage. What a savage. Anyway, thanks for watching. Thanks for listening. We'll be back on Thursday. See you then. See you Thursday. Bye. Respect, guys. Respect, guys. I'm taking this off because you never get them back when you give them the pay. No, you don't. That's a good one as well. That's a posh one. It is posh. Come on. Just sit in this.
