0:28Anthony McPartlin:Delivery fees may apply. On today's show, Ant gets a little bit too explicit for me. There's one big sack. Oh blimey, here we go again. Dec is a stickler for the rules. She met us illegally. It's not illegal. When you boil it down, it's fraud. Beef with Jamie Oliver goes to a whole new level. This is the start of the beef. We find out Dec's diary crush. Well in brackets I've written, hello. And Gordon Ramsay pops into the studio. Cough, come on, get you
1:02Declan Donnelly:Dirt And of course all your letters from the post bag Enjoy the show
1:13Anthony McPartlin:Hello everybody Hello Hi everyone It's nice to see you all, welcome once again Can you sing it all? To the hangout Welcome along, it's nice to be with you For another hanging out with him and me him being Anthony David McPartland, me being Declan Joseph Oliver Donnelly. Michael Donnelly. Michael. That's your confirmation name. Named after Michael Knight. How are you?
1:38Declan Donnelly:All right. Thanks. How are you? I'm good. How's your ears? Can you hear that yet? Nope. Still. Yeah, still. This is crazy town. It's not good. Apparently, I read on the internet that you shouldn't eat bananas because it's a wet food.
1:55Anthony McPartlin:Eh, that's a lot of foods.
1:56Declan Donnelly:Yeah, you're right. you're right. Why bananas? I don't know why they're picking up bananas. I've got no idea. I don't eat them through me here. But anyway, so, I don't know, I just had one. You did as well. I saw you. I was just about to say,
2:10Anthony McPartlin:I've just literally just had one. You just did, yeah. You don't even know you're doing it now. What? What? It's gone. It's gone. But apart from that, I'm all right. How are you? Yeah, I'm good, thanks. Yeah, I'm good. I'm pleased to be here. Good. Pleased to be here. For once. are you not normally pleased to be here no i am normally pleased here but i'm happy that we're here how's we been how's me we been it's been all right you know it's been good um had a busier weekend than i thought i was going to have did you last weekend i thought it was going to be quite chilled then i remembered we had the parent teacher school quiz charity quiz we all go raise money there's an auction and a raffle and all that and we have we take part in a quiz so i was there on a team with some other parents.
2:56Anthony McPartlin:And how did you do? We did okay. We came fourth. Out of? No, out of like 25, maybe.
3:02Declan Donnelly:Oh, that's good. Okay. That's pretty good.
3:04Anthony McPartlin:Champions League places.
3:05Declan Donnelly:Yeah, that's good. Top four. Top four finish. Well done.
3:07Anthony McPartlin:You're in Europe. You're in Europe. We go around Europe now, playing other schools. Playing other teachers and parents. Schools around Europe. Yeah, European competition. I'll pop to Spain next week, midweek for a week again. So yeah, we did okay. Had a really nice night, but it was a late night and, you know, one or two drinks were taken. Taken. You know, imbibed. Drunk. Imbibed? Who says imbibed?
3:28Declan Donnelly:It's like, what is this, your diary again? Imbibed.
3:32Anthony McPartlin:One or two drinks were had. You got drunk with teachers? Got drunk with teachers. Or they're out when they get drunk. It's weird, isn't it? Because you see them every morning at the school gate and go in and they're like...
3:39Declan Donnelly:And they're a figure of authority.
3:41Anthony McPartlin:Yeah.
3:41Declan Donnelly:And you look to them to see how your son or daughter's getting on and you take their word for gospel.
3:47Anthony McPartlin:Oh, yeah. It absolutely spiralled out of control. Did it? Well, especially because there was groups of teachers on different teams. So they were very competitive with each other. I bet they were. I even caught one team of teachers flicking the bird at another table of teachers. Yeah, and then she quickly remembered that.
4:02Declan Donnelly:Miss Watkins! How dare you!
4:04Anthony McPartlin:She was a parent teacher, charity quiz, and she sat down again. Fuck you! So that was quite fun. But yeah, I had a few drinks. I was a little bit drunk.
4:13Declan Donnelly:What was your area of specialty?
4:16Anthony McPartlin:Well, you know me. I'm a bit of an all-rounder.
4:18Declan Donnelly:I don't know that. I know you well. I wouldn't say that. Okay, what was the one question I killed? And you went, I know this, guys. You know, like you do. Yes. If you've ever been in a pub quiz with him, I know this, guys. And then sometimes he gets it spectacularly wrong, but he's convinced you he knows it. Go on. What was it? Which contagious disease is on the rise? Well, I didn't have you down with that guy. Measles. I thought you were going to say, like, which X Factor winner went on to be in I'm a Celebrity. I got all the measles questions. Okay, right, right, okay.
4:50Anthony McPartlin:It was all on the iPad, right? and there was a multiple choice question, and he did one earlier, the question master. And he went, is it A? It was something else, it's not that. Is it B? It's not that. Is it C? It's not that. So bang, the guy next to me hits D. He went, it's not the other three, so it must be D. We got the question right, and if you answer it first, you get a bonus. Right. So we got the bonus, and we got it right. So the second question comes up, multiple choice question, further down the line. Because is it A? I went, I know this one, it's not A. Is it B? I went, I know this one's not B.
5:21Anthony McPartlin:Is it C? I went, I know this one is not C. Bang, D. He went, is it D? I went, that's not the right answer. He went, oh, is it E? He changed the rules, didn't he? That's bad. That's like something you would have done playing Who Wants to Be a Millionaire board game.
5:35Declan Donnelly:Yes, it is. Because that's what Chris Terrell would have done. And then, the rest of the weekend? And then, well, let me tell you. Oh, okay.
5:44Anthony McPartlin:Let me tell you. I had a few drinks and was a little bit squiffy. Imbibed. The current Mrs. Donnelly was a disgrace. Was she? Oh. At the school quiz? Yeah. Was she? She won't thank me for telling you. She had one or two wobbly pops too many. And dancing on the tables and all that? Not that bad. Swearing at the teachers? Not quite that bad. Flicking the bird? But yeah, she wasn't very well Saturday. Really? She wasn't very well the next day. So I was looking after her for most of the weekend. Were you? Mm-hmm. Very smugly.
6:15Declan Donnelly:Yeah, I bet you were.
6:15Anthony McPartlin:Yeah.
6:16Declan Donnelly:And now you brought her up on the podcast. Yeah, she's good. Good for you, well done. Good for you. Why wouldn't you?
6:21Anthony McPartlin:It happens so...
6:22Declan Donnelly:This is your own,
6:23Anthony McPartlin:getting your own back. It happens so rarely. Yeah. It's normally me that's hungover.
6:27Declan Donnelly:Good, good. So, yeah. Did you have a good one? Oh, I did do. The pants came in the post. Jamie Oliver's pants came in the post. Not his, as we've worked out. The brand that he wears, the ones that... The cupping technique? I tried them all day Saturday. I had Pilates. I thought, I'm going to wear these.
6:46Anthony McPartlin:Oh, you really, really gave them a vigorous testing.
6:49Declan Donnelly:I did. I did. And I thought, what better way to test out this cup and how well they cup and hold you in than Pilates, where you've got to stretch your legs wide in a class full of women. What a treat for them, I have to say. Well, it wasn't that much of a treat because they cup me well. Ah, they did cup well. Right. This is good. Too well. Oh, no. I don't want to be hell like that. I don't want to be. Not all the time. Unless it's my wife. Oh, blimey, here we go again. It's like wearing lycra shorts, right? Oh. All the time. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. You know whenever you've worn a harness for like Saturday night takeaway or whatever, and then you've got it, they put the harness on.
7:29Declan Donnelly:Oh, yeah. And then they push, pull the straps. Push them out the front and pull them. Oh, you've got to create some space. It's a bit like that. And I don't like it. Can I ask you? You can ask me whatever you want. That's what we're here for. Hanging out with Adam Deck. Can I just ask?
7:42Anthony McPartlin:So the whole cup and technology thing, is it for general feel good or is it aesthetics?
7:48Declan Donnelly:I didn't see much of an improvement by being cooked. Right. It just got hot. And I'm sure they're meant to make you less hot because they separate everything. What? Of course they do. It's like wearing a pair of flip-flops down there.
Read the full transcript
8:03Anthony McPartlin:What do you mean separate?
8:04Declan Donnelly:No, okay, we'll put it this way. Your testicles, right, if they're all squashed together between your legs and everything, heat and heat and heat, right? This technology, I don't know why I'm doing such a big job with it. I don't even like it. This technology separates the heated elements. Oh. Do you see what I'm saying? Cup, cup. There's one big cup and there's two little cups either side. Two cups, one man. One man, two cups. One man, two cups. Yeah. One man, two cups. There's one big sack. Oh, God. Gusset, front, frontal area. There's one big frontal area. Oh, my gosh. So anyway, I tried them and I don't like them.
8:46Declan Donnelly:Oh, right. There's too much going on. Jamie Oliver is wrong.
8:50Anthony McPartlin:I hesitate to ask this, but how many bananas?
8:52Declan Donnelly:Well, one banana and two testicles. Oh, yeah, sorry. How many bananas? Zero. Zero bananas? Zero for me. Yeah. Whereas the ones I'm wearing now, eight. Eight bananas. Yeah. Has Jamie Oliver been in touch yet? I've reached out, but he's busy until September. He's busy until September? That's quite a flex. Come on. I'm so popular. He is not busy until September. Right, I tell you what. If he is busy until September, get him to send his diary. Like cut and paste his diary and send it. Prove it. Prove how busy you are. This is good beef. This is beef. This is the start of the beef. Jamie Oliver, you're a liar.
9:34Declan Donnelly:You're a liar. Nobody's that busy. I'm busy. You're busy. We've got lots of shows on the go. Yeah. Family life. We're busy. School quizzes. Yeah, but I could still pop on your podcast for five minutes. And bring some beef. I didn't want this beef. I didn't want this beef from GML, did I? But he came back and said... He came back and said, I'm busy till September.
9:55Anthony McPartlin:And the way he said it as well.
9:56Declan Donnelly:Yeah, did he say it that way as well? I bet he did.
9:58Anthony McPartlin:Sassy, yeah. Sassy, was it sassy? He is quite sassy. He said he kind of laughed and he went, I'm busy till September.
10:04Declan Donnelly:You mug? Did he say you mug? Mugs? He didn't say it, but he thought it. He thought mugs. Yeah, I knew it. I knew it. You are a mug.
10:13Anthony McPartlin:Not even a cup You're a mug
10:16Declan Donnelly:He said you're a silly geese
10:22Declan Donnelly:He's dragging you into it now Me Geese I'll smash your face in Geese Right that's it
10:27Anthony McPartlin:That's beef that is Beef with Jimmy This is an advert for Santander Who understand that getting started on a goal Isn't always easy And taking a meaningful first step is how progress happens.
10:42Declan Donnelly:It's a bit like when we started SMTV Live Saturday mornings. We just had to start it, didn't we? We just had to take that first step. Yeah. Because we didn't know how good we'd be. It was live every Saturday, which we'd had experience of, but not a lot of experience.
10:57Anthony McPartlin:It makes me shudder now. Because we were bad. Yeah. The show to start with, for probably the first... Six months? No, not that long. Two, three months maybe? Right. We were really just scrabbling around. to get by week to week. And the ratings weren't great. No, the ratings weren't great. It started off badly, but then it grew. But we could never have gotten to the point we did with it without having gone through those early days and the tricky bits at the very beginning. Yeah. Going through that whole process made us better at what we did. And by the end of it, you know, it was...
11:31Declan Donnelly:The best thing. It's where we learned everything about live TV. Yeah.
11:34Anthony McPartlin:But we wouldn't have got going if we just didn't do it. Yeah. We had to take the plunge and start at the very bottom.
11:40Declan Donnelly:Oh, and boy. And work a wheel. Yeah. And boy, it was the bottom. And that's what Santander is doing. Working hard to help customers build the confidence they need to achieve a goal that matters to them. Santander, it starts here. Can we see the map? Can I get the map out? Yes, please. I'll just whip my map out. One sec.
12:00Anthony McPartlin:Go back to the big map.
12:01Declan Donnelly:Good. Ah, good. Big map with flags.
12:05Anthony McPartlin:Flags. Now, all of the new flags are in white. Okay. So I'll just pop my specs on here.
12:09Declan Donnelly:Ooh, I can see one right slap bang in the middle of the United States.
12:13Anthony McPartlin:Well, that will be Mabel, who's listening in Nebraska.
12:17Declan Donnelly:Nebraska. Ever been? I've never been. I'd like to go to Nebraska. Would you? I'd love to. Mabel, can I come and stay at your house? That'll be good. Have you got an en suite? Have you got an en suite? Will you change the sheets before we arrive? And will you get a big shot in? Answer those questions and we'll be there. Dion is in India. Hello, Dion. I've never been to India. Ask me the question. Ever been? Never been. Would you love to go? Love to go. Yes. Me too. Have you been? Never been. Would you love to go? Love to go.
12:45Anthony McPartlin:Whereabouts? Goa.
12:47Declan Donnelly:Because the beachy kind of vibe. That would be nice.
12:49Anthony McPartlin:Well, I kind of feel like you've got to do Mumbai. Do you think so? I feel like you have to.
12:54Declan Donnelly:What, Mumbai, Delhi, you've got to do a big, busy metropolis. Yeah, then yeah. Yeah, okay. Where is our listener?
13:00Anthony McPartlin:Very general, India.
13:01Declan Donnelly:We need very specific locations.
13:03Anthony McPartlin:Especially if we're going to come and stay in your spare room.
13:05Declan Donnelly:Yeah, exactly. With an en suite. Because if you give us a really specific location, Then we can do a look around on the map.
13:10Anthony McPartlin:Who knows? We might just turn up at your door. Yeah, we could. We won't. We haven't got time. Next. Next. Ethan is in Shanghai. Is he? Yes.
13:19Declan Donnelly:What?
13:20Anthony McPartlin:Ever been?
13:21Declan Donnelly:Never been. Would you love to go? Love to go to Shanghai. Yes. In Shanghai and China, for those of you that don't know.
13:28Anthony McPartlin:Between Dion in India and Ethan in Shanghai. We'd have a great week. Well, can you imagine the food? if you just listen and squeal at the idea
13:39Declan Donnelly:there's a squeal I can't hear
13:41Anthony McPartlin:I've got the Shanghai the Shanghai squeal
13:49Anthony McPartlin:that's a new thing sounds like a cocktail, doesn't it? can I have a Shanghai squeal, please?
13:53Declan Donnelly:then that's a side effect you have to play Bronte is in Malta ever been? yes, I have have you? yes, so have you we've both been to Malta when did I go to Malta? we went to Malta where we got on the cruise ship and got off in Malta, didn't we? Gibraltar. Ah, Gibraltar. It was Gibraltar. Gibraltar, not Malta. Ask me again. Gibraltar, not Malta. Get the t-shirts made. Gibraltar, not Malta.
14:20Anthony McPartlin:Dave is in Slovenia. Do you think he was born in Slovenia? No, I don't.
14:24Declan Donnelly:I don't think Dave was born. Do you think he is Slovenian? No, I don't. My son has got a habit now of just calling everybody Dave. Oh, really? Yeah, like he's aunties and stuff. She goes, Dave! I don't know where it's come from! Trigger off all the fools and horses! I don't know where it's come from! Like, he's anti-Susan and he's anti-Sarah. He's just going, when they come on first time, he's like, Dave! Amazing. Why not mention that he's not even two? I've trained them well. I love that.
14:55Anthony McPartlin:And finally, Joel and Lou in Tokyo. Ever been? Yes, I have.
15:03Declan Donnelly:Would you go again? Many times.
15:04Anthony McPartlin:Love to go again. Do you know what? I'd love to go back to Tokyo. We went to Tokyo when we were like 19, when we were Piji and Duncan.
15:11Declan Donnelly:You take these glasses off for this. Good story.
15:15Anthony McPartlin:Didn't you perform in Tokyo as well? Many, many times.
15:19Declan Donnelly:Performed in Tokyo many times. Lots of TV shows in Tokyo many times. Yeah, we performed and sang in Japanese. We've told that story, right? Let's put the map down. We'll tell you this story. so we went on a Japanese TV show and we were told by the record company that whenever a Western artist comes on this Japanese TV show they always sing a Japanese song live
15:44Anthony McPartlin:in Japanese
15:45Declan Donnelly:in Japanese well we can't we can't do that we don't speak Japanese they're like no it's okay you can learn it but to be on the show you have to do this and the record company obviously wanted us to do really loads of promotion so they really wanted us to do it We said, we can't sing this live. We just can't. We can't sing live in English at the best of times. So we can't certainly go on and sing live in Japanese.
16:07Anthony McPartlin:So we said, how about if we mime the song, we record it in Japanese, and then we'll perform on the show. And it was a big, like, primetime Saturday night entertainment show. And we said, we'll go on and mime it in Japanese. You know, that way we can't offend anybody or make any mistakes. And they went, okay, okay. So we took an afternoon to go into a studio. We recorded this song in Japanese, which was weird in itself. took us ages and they wrote all the words out phonetically so we recorded this song we go along to the TV show the following day and we go on set and we go well at least the pressure's off because we can mime to this song and then they started the rehearsal played the track there was no vocals on the track and we're like no no excuse me we're like one two one two no we're mimeing to this and all the people are like oh no no no nobody ever mimes nobody ever
16:52Declan Donnelly:oh well we looked for the writer company to find out what's going on everybody hid they all scarpered They all just left the studio. It's actually an undercover prank that you did. Yeah, it was like an undercover prank, yeah. But that's probably where we got most of our ideas from, because of stuff that's happened to us in the past. So, yeah.
17:07Anthony McPartlin:So they had the words on big idiot boards, phonetically for us. And thankfully, we'd spent an afternoon recording the song the day before. So we sang it live in Japanese, on Japanese television.
17:16Declan Donnelly:We haven't watched it back since we've been on there. We've never seen footage of this. So if anyone can find... A little bit of a clue... Oh, yeah. was there's two English words in the whole song and the English words were bus stop. Bizarrely.
17:31Anthony McPartlin:It was a song by a Japanese dude called Kinky Kids. Which, bizarrely, is the nickname we have for each other. If you find the footage, let us know because I like to buy it and destroy it.
17:43Declan Donnelly:I thank you. I'd like to watch it again though. Then destroy it. Then destroy it, yes. So you know we saw Kelly's Telly last week. Oh yes. And how big Kelly's Telly was. So we know where people are listening. And how they're listening. And now we know how they're listening. How they're listening, how they're watching. Do we have any more tellies that could possibly beat Kelly's telly? Kelly's telly was massive. We think it was about seven. Ah, I know that lady. I know her. You know her. That's my sister, Sarah. That's Dave. Dave. That's Auntie Dave. That's Sarah. And that's us. She watches on her telly.
18:13Declan Donnelly:Is that how she watches the show as well? Yeah, she's got really strong glasses. When she doesn't wear them, she's got to stand very close to the telly. I still don't think she beats Kelly's telly. No, I think Kelly's Telly's still bigger than that. Yeah, Kelly's Telly is bigger than that. Sorry, Sarah. Sorry, Dave. You're out of here.
18:30Anthony McPartlin:Any more pictures of how you listen or watch or where you listen and watch, please send them in to us, hanging out at bellabox.com. We love seeing your living rooms and your cars and into your lives. And your kids and your dogs and stuff.
18:44Declan Donnelly:We do, though. We do.
18:45Anthony McPartlin:Yeah, we do.
18:46Declan Donnelly:We're spies.
18:46Anthony McPartlin:I've had a look at some of the comments. Is there anything I've missed in the comments? A lot of people loving Silly Goose, in fact. Silly Goose?
18:52Declan Donnelly:The emails, we've actually been sent this a lot, which is Sainsbury's have made their own silly goose candle. Well, they were quick. They were quick to jump on the bandwagon, weren't they? They obviously love the pod. Thanks for listening, Sainsbury's. What does it smell of? Is it smelly? Pods.
19:13Anthony McPartlin:Silly. Pods.
19:14Declan Donnelly:I don't get it. Pod life. What is that? A silly goose candle? Yeah, that's what we should have done. We're too slow. That's our problem. We're too sore. I mean, you're wearing your sexy T-shirt and I see you've moved from that camera.
19:26Anthony McPartlin:Nice looks nice, doesn't he?
19:27Declan Donnelly:Yeah, all right, nice.
19:28Anthony McPartlin:Yeah, he looks good. Doesn't say a lot, does he? No. He's just nice. Yeah, he's just a nice guy. Just a nice guy.
19:34Declan Donnelly:There's more Silly Goose merch. Is there? More Silly Goose merch. In particular this one.
19:38Anthony McPartlin:Wow. That's good. If you're just listening, this is a Silly Goose hat. It's a hat with a very long gooseneck sprouting up from the top of the head and a goose kind of yapping. Honking. A goose. Geese honk? Yeah. Honk. Honk. Honk. We should get one of those hats. Can we get one? And get it in the studio, maybe for like the worst comment or the worst letter into the post bag. We can crown somebody the Silly Goose. Good idea. Any more Silly Goose things? That's it for now. That's it for now. Well. It's everywhere apparently. It's taken over the, well, it's taken over a bit of shelf space in Sainsbury's.
20:13Declan Donnelly:It's taken over somebody's hair
20:16Anthony McPartlin:in hat form. But it's really caught on.
20:18Declan Donnelly:Yeah, it has. It is really caught on.
20:21Anthony McPartlin:Got the old diary out if you're interested.
20:23Declan Donnelly:Diary, yes, please. Yeah, we've got a jingle. Here it is. That leads us on nicely to your diary.
20:29Anthony McPartlin:Ooh, should we have a look at it? Peck and Dummine's diary. Peck and Dummine's diary. Peck and Dummine's diary. What was in it, shall we say? Yes, please.
20:38Declan Donnelly:Yes, Peck Diary.
20:40Anthony McPartlin:Make it better than that. Yeah.
20:42Declan Donnelly:Ooh, wow, there's a lot going on there, isn't there? Yeah. Yeah, for us ADHD, people. That's right on my street. Took that all on board. Who was that from? Ali.
20:51Anthony McPartlin:Well done, Ali. Oh.
20:52Declan Donnelly:Well, your wife. Your wife said in that. The current Mrs. Dudley.
20:56Anthony McPartlin:She's got a lot of time on her hands, hasn't she? Probably doing that when she was recovering from a hangover. The 6th of April, 1994. Blimey. What a day. No. The hotel was pretty... You swore again in your diary. What a potty mouth you were. So I'll change it. At 19. The hotel was pretty crappy. And to make our stay a nicer one, they clamped our car. Did they? We got clamped. We took a cab to the basketball court where we shot the video to Why Me. Oh my God.
21:30Declan Donnelly:That long ago?
21:31Anthony McPartlin:Yes. Wow. To do Snap, Cackle and Pop for the Big Breakfast. Snap, Cackle and Pop
21:37Declan Donnelly:for the Big Breakfast.
21:38Anthony McPartlin:So I think it was like an insert.
21:40Declan Donnelly:Right.
21:41Anthony McPartlin:It must have been like a VT thing that we did. Zoe Ball was there. Right. Did we like her? Well in brackets I've written hello. Can we get Zoe Ball on the podcast? Because someone's a big fan. Him right as her in, hello.
22:01Anthony McPartlin:I obviously took a shine to Zoe Ball that day. It's like a carry-on movie in your head. Our new TV plugger was there and we chatted on the way to Channel 4. He dropped us there to do Surf Potatoes. What? Do you remember Surf Potatoes? No. It was a Channel 4 show with Max Beasley. What? And it was like a review of TV shows or something. Surf potatoes. It's Max Beasley and maybe Danny Bear. What? Remember Danny Bear? Yes. Hello. Remember Max Beasley? Hello. We recorded Hymn of the Week. What the hell are you talking about? And then I've written, don't ask. Well, no, I want to ask. So do I, but I've got no...
22:42Anthony McPartlin:We recorded Hymn of the Week. Hymn of the Week. Sounds like it would be right up my street to be honest.
22:45Declan Donnelly:Yeah, it does, doesn't it? Catholic boy, Catholic boy.
22:48Anthony McPartlin:Yeah, I don't know what that was. We recorded him of the week, don't ask. After our call was delivered back to us. Delivered? You get it delivered after.
22:56Declan Donnelly:It's just been clamped. It's a service, isn't it? How dare you? But we will send it back to you once you pay the fine.
23:02Anthony McPartlin:We drove to Kent with our tour manager, Dom, ranting about clampers being the mafia or something.
23:09Declan Donnelly:I think I remember this. Mafia. Mafia, yeah, mafia.
23:12Anthony McPartlin:After a spot of tea, we went to Folkestone and played a rather dodgy club. Dominique, our tour manager, said that he'd been there five or six times and we got the best reaction he's ever seen.
23:24Declan Donnelly:He's very nice to me. He says a lot. He seems to say that a lot, doesn't he? I feel like he's just trying to make us feel better, isn't he? He says, we got a bigger reaction than you kids on the block. Probably a lie. And the best reaction in the Dodgy Night Club at Folkestone.
23:38Anthony McPartlin:Yeah, probably a lie.
23:39Declan Donnelly:We can't probably a lie.
23:40Anthony McPartlin:He said we got the biggest response he'd ever seen, but we weren't very happy. Oh, weren't we? We weren't very happy. There were some...
23:50Anthony McPartlin:Wait for this. Who thought they were fashion gurus. Huh? Who said we should dress like them. Sorry, fellas. Not even if you paid me. Boom! Drop that diary. Drop the mic. Drop the diary. They obviously really wound us up. Who were they? I don't know. I wasn't very good at diarising that day.
24:10Declan Donnelly:No, you were, were you?
24:11Anthony McPartlin:I left a lot of things in the air.
24:12Declan Donnelly:It's very light on facts and very heavy on swear words this week. It is. I don't think I like it. Not up for that. It's not very family friendly. Let's hope tomorrow's better.
24:20Anthony McPartlin:Wait, what is tomorrow? Where are we? 7th of April 1994 starts. Well, this is the most hectic day yet. Oh, that's good. But probably one of the most enjoyable. We'll find out more about that next week.
24:33Declan Donnelly:Peter Jango! That leads us on nicely to your diary. Ooh, should we have a little look at it? Declan Dunley's diary.
24:39Anthony McPartlin:Declan Dunley's diary. Declan Dunley's diary. What was in it, shall we say? Yes, please. Yes, Declan Dunley. Make it better than that. Yeah.
24:49Declan Donnelly:She's very good at accents for your wife, isn't she?
24:54Declan Donnelly:Oh, you also watched something new on TV? What did you, what have you started watching? So, I started watching a thing on Apple TV, and it's called The Last Frontier. I'm going to paint the picture. This is the first episode, right? Big airplane and an aircraft hangar. There's lots of US officials. Sirens blaring. Music's tense. The camera goes in, into the plane. Every seat is occupied by a convict. And they're handcuffed. Some of them have got like blindfolds on. The plane takes off, goes across Alaska. Engine blows. Plane crashes into the Alaskan forests, snowy forests. the convicts escape.
25:39Boom.
25:40Declan Donnelly:Good, eh? You're in, aren't you? Yeah. Eh? Yeah, I mean. It's good, isn't it? So the series is The Search for the Convicts because so many get free. But they're all shackled together. Well, they're all shackled. Ah, ha, ha, ha. A plane crash will take a man's shackles off. Believe me.
25:55Anthony McPartlin:Will it? Yeah, it will. That's handy for the plot.
25:57Declan Donnelly:Well, not all of them. Not all of them. Right. Not all of them. You see some of them having to get their shackles off and one of them, like the king of the convicts, the one that's really bound down. The big boss. The big boss. The final boss, he takes on track and down, but he's the criminal boss of mine.
26:12Anthony McPartlin:Is there anybody famous off the telly? Dominic Cooper.
26:14Declan Donnelly:You know him? I do know Dominic Cooper. English actor. He's in it. He's brilliant. He's very good in it. It's on Apple TV. For episode one, we're giving it... Seven Bananas. Ooh. It's good. Got me thinking. We should start a TV and film club. Oh, that's a good idea. We should. Banana Club.
26:29Anthony McPartlin:Pick something to watch each week. Yeah. And then everybody goes off and watches it. Everybody watches it. And then we can all talk about it.
26:33Declan Donnelly:Yeah, so any suggestions, let us know in the comments. Just email us, hangingoutofbeltthebox.com, and we can all watch it together one week. And that's if you haven't got too much wrong, because you're very busy. You're too busy to grow a beard, so you're too busy to watch TV, clearly. We can all go back together, and then we can all average out of banana ratings. Then I feel like the banana ratings will be fairer. Yes. Don't you think? Yeah. Okay.
26:54Anthony McPartlin:I like that. I'll tell you what I watched this week. ITV 2's The Heat. Oh, yeah, I've seen this trail. Which is a new reality show. Looks good. Hosted by Olivia Atwood. Yeah. Featuring Jean-Christophe Novelli. Yeah. Very famous and acclaimed chef. And it's a bunch of young, fit, hottie chefs. Love Island-y chefs? Love Island-y chefs. Right, okay. That they go out to Barcelona for a summer season to run this restaurant. Summer Sizzler. Indeed. They run this restaurant. You can use that, guys. Put it on the poster. Well, it's Summer Sizzler. It's a Summer Sizzler. I'm appalling. Nine bananas. Nine bananas?
27:34Anthony McPartlin:No, sorry, no, no, no. And they have to run the restaurant. They all take turns of being like head chef. That's good. And they've got to get ready for, it's a lunchtime service. Right. That they're under pressure each day to do under the watchful eye of Jean Christophe. Then in the evening, Barcelona is their playground. Oh, I like it. And they chat about how service went, who was head chef, how they did, the dynamics of the kitchen as they flirt and as they get to know one another. Do you know what?
27:59Declan Donnelly:It's the kind of show that Lola would be in. Yay. wouldn't you? That you'd be in that show. Done. Yeah? Series two? Yeah, series two. Yeah? An insider. It's really good. That is good. What would you give it? Banana lies? Because I've only watched
28:11Anthony McPartlin:one and a half episodes but I would give it six bananas. But it could rise to eight. It could rise to eight. It could raise my banana rating. Oh! Depending on how the series goes. Have bananas made it into everyday parlance? We've got a... That is a good throw. We've got an aeroplane has just flown in. News just in. Hi, Ant and Dec. I need my specs for this. Oh, I could read it. Hi, Ant and Dec. Love the podcast. I've recently visited Disneyland Paris and introduced my friend to banana ratings. We gave Tower of Terror an amazing eight bananas and Spider-Man got a zero from me due to bad motion sickness.
28:48Anthony McPartlin:Yes. That happens with those. That does happen with those ones. Thank you for bringing this rating system into the world. That was from Bethany. Bethany? Bethany. Just Bethany. Just Bethany. Then I've got another one.
28:58Declan Donnelly:People call Bethany? Yeah. She is. Now I'm just thinking that you haven't missed their why, have you? People are called Bethan. That's not a thing. You're wearing them. You're not. Prove it. Can you send a picture of your driving licence or passport? Please. I don't believe you. Bethan. Name me a famous Bethan. My old neighbour. Your old neighbour? Yeah. How convenient. Your old neighbour. So I've got to even pop round and talk to her.
29:25Anthony McPartlin:But she's old. Nice try, sexy.
29:29Declan Donnelly:Don't know. Beth and Guanas? Nope. Beth and Hughes? Nope. Beth and Effin? Nope.
29:35Anthony McPartlin:I'm Effin and Jeffin at you two in a minute. I've got another letter here from Dave in Sheffield. Yeah, I've heard that. Dave! Who wants his real name?
29:45Declan Donnelly:Susan or Sarah?
29:47Anthony McPartlin:It's Dear Banana One and Banana Two. I think that's us. I absolutely love listening to your show. Thanks, Dave. Thanks, Dave. Dave! Hanging out with you both every week. If I was rating a show, it would easily be a big fat eight bananas. Yay! I love watching films and I've created an official list of the films you've been watching on the show along with your banana ratings over on Letterboxd I'm looking forward to hearing how you rate many more films and adding to this list over time what else have you guys watched and rated recently and I will update too much information let me take one bit in he's gone on to Letterboxd yeah and he has set up
30:21Declan Donnelly:oh my god a Hanging Out with Ant and Deck ratings now with Banana ratings Ant and Deck host Hanging Out with Ant and Deck on podcast and YouTube search for Veltabox. They've started rating things they watch with a banana rating of up to a huge eight bananas. Here's all the films and the ratings they've given. Well done, Dave. Well done, Dave.
30:40Anthony McPartlin:That's brilliant. I'm glad somebody around here is organised. Got these three sat in the corner. They don't do sod all during the week. I can add a movie to that.
30:47Declan Donnelly:I watched The Woman in Cabin 8 with Keira Knightley. It's like a thriller. She goes onto a yacht, like a super yacht. She's a Guardian journalist. Oh. So she goes onto this.
30:58Anthony McPartlin:Oh, I have heard of this.
30:59Declan Donnelly:Yeah, she goes on to a super yacht because she's just finished a really big story. So she wants to light a story. Oh, turns out this ain't a lighter story. She's at the centre of it, baby. So she goes on this yacht, but the people that own the yacht are a bit strange. Strange things happen. She's in cabin 10, but something or someone, the woman in cabin 8, is not what she seems. Who else famous off the telly's on it? Guy Pearce. From Neighbours. From Neighbours. Mike. Guy Pearce from Neighbours. And Memento. And Memento. One of my favourite films ever. Hannah Waddingham. Yeah, she's in it. Banana rating.
31:35Declan Donnelly:Banana rating, please. From me? Yes. Or my wife? From you? Five. From her? Six.
31:44Anthony McPartlin:I was expecting it to be wildly different, but it's not.
31:48Declan Donnelly:That's right, I said it. But it was like seven, seven, seven, seven, six. But it was tense, these few jumpy moments, and, you know, it was good. So are we giving it a five or a six? I think we're going to have to round it down to a five. Five out of eight. Five bananas. It's not bad. Add that, Dave, to your list. Thank you very much.
32:08Anthony McPartlin:Sharon has put a little review on TripAdvisor. She sent us a picture here. She has reviewed a restaurant. The food was incredible. Staff were amazingly efficient. This was a treat for my son's birthday and he loved it. I would rate this a solid eight bananas. Well done, Sharon. TripAdvisor. We love that. People are going to read that and go, what the heck is Sharon talking about?
32:27Declan Donnelly:There's a lot here from Hannah.
32:28Anthony McPartlin:That's an Amazon Prime review. The skin oil is worthy of a rating of eight bananas. The best in capital letters. Moisturiser for dry skin. Within one use, it was noticeably different. Eight bananas all day long. Thank you, Hannah. Well done, Hannah.
32:41Declan Donnelly:And thank you, Sharon. Brilliant.
32:43Anthony McPartlin:Very quickly, Kirsty has sent us this. Here's a review I submitted for some ankle socks at Next. But we have a slight issue with Kirsty's review. Why? She says pretty motifs, five stars, pretty motifs, which makes pairing very easy. nice and comfy for work socks 10 bananas
32:58Declan Donnelly:ah Kirsty that doesn't work that's it if this was limitless win you bust now you've gone over game over one over is game over you've gone two over the highest banana rate you can give anything is eight bananas
33:10Anthony McPartlin:because that is the world record for the most bananas eaten in one minute so you've gone a little bit over the bananas but I guess you really like the socks yes you do
33:17Declan Donnelly:you look cool socks though yeah they look good don't they yeah but we have to discount that discount discount the socks no I'm not giving you money off the socks £12 on the website,
33:27Anthony McPartlin:but I'm just going to give you them for£10. Depends how many you buy.
33:30Declan Donnelly:The more you buy, the cheaper they are.

34:04Anthony McPartlin:Perhaps orchestrating a surprise intervention with all your friends to highlight the impact.
34:10Declan Donnelly:Gemini, yes, your ideas are fantastic. Can I speak to Gemini for a moment? Yes, you can.
34:14Anthony McPartlin:Hi, Gemini, Deck here. Could you give me some believable excuses for why I am a few minutes late quite a lot of the time, please. Certainly, Dec. You could try saying perhaps a bizarre traffic delay caused by something unexpected, like a public performance in the middle of the road. That's great. Are those the kind of things you're thinking of? Yes, absolutely spot on. Thanks, Gemini. Thanks, Gemini. With Gemini, you can chat live with a truly helpful AI assistant. 36:28Anthony McPartlin:Look, I've got a little picture of it on the screen.
36:30Declan Donnelly:That's 24. That's just trying it out, seeing whether I like it or not. I like it. Yeah, you like that? I do like it. Should I grow it more? Yeah.
36:38Anthony McPartlin:You look like an Australian cricketer.
36:40Declan Donnelly:That's not a bad look. That's in at the minute. That is in at the minute, that look. Isn't that a mustache, mullet? But anyway, take that down because that's got me thinking. Look how quick that was. That's good. And it's all good content for the pod. That's impressive. Really good content. Good.
36:54Anthony McPartlin:Everybody listening is really loving your mustache.
36:55Declan Donnelly:Yeah, everybody's listening is loving the fact I showed a picture of my mustache. Yeah. How's the beard? I didn't do it this week. Oh, you're not. To quote you, you're not. I had a lot of stuff on this week. Yeah, okay. We've established you had the parent and teacher's drunken quiz. Quiz. Then after that?
37:11Anthony McPartlin:I had a press launch to do for a TV show.
37:14Declan Donnelly:But I'm a celebrity, which I was also there.
37:16Anthony McPartlin:Yes. For one of my shows, I had a press launch. Yes. So I had to go clean shaven for the press. Did you though? Show some respect.
37:25Declan Donnelly:To the press. Yes.
37:26Anthony McPartlin:No, I will not. To the ladies and gentlemen of His Majesty's Press Corps, I showed respect and I went clean shaven.
37:36Declan Donnelly:Oh God. How about we, when I get the tattoo, you have to have the beard for then.
37:43Anthony McPartlin:Okay. I will try and get a thicker moustache.
37:47Declan Donnelly:You try and get a beard. Try and get a tattoo. There's a lot happening that week, isn't there? There's a lot, isn't there? Might have spread it out a little bit. Yeah, I've overcommitted. I feel like I just want to isolate now. I've overcommitted to things. I said yes to things.
37:59Anthony McPartlin:Well, I am committed to the beard just at the right time. St. Patrick's Day this week. Yes. So I thought I'd bring you in the story of St. Patrick. Good. Before we get there, though. Yes. Did you know, when we did this a few weeks ago, and we did the St. Valentine one, my St. Valentine's facts made it onto the chase. Look at this.
38:18Declan Donnelly:Who's the parent saint of beekeeping?
38:20Anthony McPartlin:I caught this. I took this photograph of the beast on the chase who answered this question. Who's the parent saint of beekeeping? St. Valentine. Well, hold on. I reckon they got that from the podcast. No, of course they didn't get it from the podcast. Of course they did. Remember, parent saint of lovers, parent saint of beekeeping, Yeah, I get that.
38:36Declan Donnelly:Yeah, I said that on the podcast. Yeah, I know you said it on the podcast. Do you know how far in advance they filmed The Chase? Live. It's not live. The Chase is not live. It is, I think it is. You took a picture taking credit for that fact. That's right, I have. But that wasn't down to you. I think it was. It was not down to you. That's probably a repeat of The Chase. You've probably seen the original episode of The Chase months ago because they filmed them like a year in advance and it's stuck in your brain and then you've come in here spouting it as one of your own. That's what's happened here.
39:08Declan Donnelly:How bloody dare you? The Chase haven't listened to this podcast and then nicked what you said as one of their question ideas. They're not that thin on the ground for questions.
39:17Anthony McPartlin:I bet your next question was, what's the record for bananas eaten in one minute? But I turned it off because I was too excited. Probably. That was probably the next question. Well, I think you're wrong.
39:26Declan Donnelly:Do you have a fact about the sand for us, please? Do you know the story of St. Patrick? Yeah, I think so. Go on, what do you know? He banished the snakes from Ireland.
39:35Anthony McPartlin:That is a popular myth about St. Patrick. Well, it's not really proven. Did you know St. Patrick wasn't even Irish? Yes, I did know this. Oh yeah, now you did. No, I did. Since I've said it, you knew it. Now go on, tell the listener. So St. Patrick was actually born in Britain and he was kidnapped and taken to Ireland where he worked for six years as a slave. And he had a vision which told him that he had to go back to the coast, make his way to the coast. So he escaped, made his way to the coast, got on a ship and made it back to the UK. And while he was back on the mainland, he became a priest and a bishop and a very holy man and then had another premonition that was to tell him to go back to Ireland to bring Christianity to the Irish.
40:14Anthony McPartlin:So he went back to the place where he was held captive for six years and was one of the main figures which brought Christianity to the Irish people. Next thing you know, got St. Patrick's Day and everybody's drinking Guinness.
40:26Declan Donnelly:You know, you talk about the saints a lot. I thought this week was a good week for me to be on the side of the sinner. Oh, right. Well, and the sinner, but the sinner in this sense being the snake. Yes. Because the snake gets a bad rep. Thank you very much, Jemama, for my...
40:43Anthony McPartlin:Aeroplane, just got a paper aeroplane just flown in. And I thought I'd hit you with a couple of snake facts
40:48Declan Donnelly:that prove that they aren't the sinners we all think they are. Snakes are incredibly important for our ecosystems, Declan. I agree. They keep numbers of rodents and spiders in check. Without snakes, places would be overrun with mice and rats. Hear, hear, snake fact two. Snake venom has been used for medicinal purposes for hundreds of years. In fact, the African black mambas venom contains a potent painkiller as powerful as morphine. Wowzers. Good fact, huh? Great facts.
41:20Anthony McPartlin:Up the snakes. And, of course, where would be on I'm a Celebrity without snakes? It's true. You don't want cockroaches in every trial, do you? Scene stealers.
41:29Declan Donnelly:So let's get your correspondence, all your emails, all your letters. Bring the bag over. Everything's always over your side, isn't it? It is, isn't it? Good. I like it.
41:35Anthony McPartlin:You've got the mystery door your side. I've got the letters. One second. Oh, God. I nearly went there.
41:41Declan Donnelly:Oh, that's a bulging sack this week. Thank you very much. Right, I'll start. Good afternoon. Good afternoon. Good evening. Good afternoon. Good afternoon. Good morning. Good evening. Good afternoon. When I was younger, my mum used to regularly enter competitions, but didn't always stick to the rules. She ended me into a competition to win a trip up to Newcastle to appear on an episode of Biker Grove. We won second prize, but as the first prize winner was not able to make the trip, we were offered the opportunity instead. The competition was for children aged below 16. I was 18 years old. Well done, Mum.
42:19Anthony McPartlin:Hopefully a young looking 18.
42:21Declan Donnelly:Yeah, well, mum didn't tell me the age limit and we accepted the prize and came up to the set of Bite or Grow for me to be an extra in an episode. I thoroughly enjoyed my day on set meeting you both along with other cast members and going home with some signed books too. I laugh now when I think, as it reminds me of the Only Fools and Horses episode where they win a children's competition and Rodney has to pretend he is a child. I did wonder why I was the tallest one there, but my mum didn't confess to me until the journey home. that's from Kirstie in Northamptonshire
42:53Anthony McPartlin:oh well done Kirstie
42:54Declan Donnelly:good afternoon Kirstie we'll see you did it though that's not breaking the rules that's just bending them a little bit it's kind of breaking the rules no but like 16 to 18 who cares I'm up for that I don't mind that
43:08Anthony McPartlin:there's a lot of 8 to 16 year olds who do care that they were absolutely within the playing within the rules and they didn't win the competition
43:15Declan Donnelly:well Kirstie had a lovely afternoon she met us both and other cast members and went home with some sign books. She met us illegally. It's not illegal.
43:23Anthony McPartlin:It is illegal. It's probably, it's fraud, isn't it? It's not fraud. When you boil it down, it's fraud. It's not fraud. Good for you, Kirsty. This one is from Rowan and Dana.
