In short
Hanging Out with Ant and Dec covers spring fashion shopping (Stitch Fix ad), a pigeon waking Declan at 5:45, Ant’s self-imposed spending limits, and the “Amos Celebrity South Africa” I’m a Celebrity finale backstage fallout. It also runs “Famous Guy Swaps Things,” where Ant/Dec swap a slow cooker for a chopping board, plus a “Dec’s Diary” throwback and listener letters.

3:03This is it
3:07Declan Donnelly:This is all the results Of Famous Guy Swaps Things If you didn't watch Or listen to last week's pod Then you've got no idea What's going on We will be doing another episode Of Famous Guy Swaps Things In this pod later on so he might get the chance to get another present on next week's pod if you swap. For God's sake, this is just, it hurts me. That is... I'm very noise sensitive at the minute. Tremendous. Very noise sensitive.
3:37Ant McPartlin:I am so glad we did that swap. That is better than a quiet please sign. Do you think so?
3:43Declan Donnelly:Noisy please sign. That's it. I need the quiet please sign when you're playing the drunkest so I can just hold it up to you.
3:49Ant McPartlin:Hello, good. I've done all that. I've done all of that. Done all of that.
3:52Declan Donnelly:Done all of that. How have you been? How's your week been? Busy? Quiet? Busy quiet?
3:57Ant McPartlin:No, it's been anything but quiet.
3:59Declan Donnelly:It's been as noisy as that drum kit.
4:01Ant McPartlin:I don't know if anybody saw, but we had a show on Friday night.
4:05Declan Donnelly:If you didn't see it on Friday, I bet you read about it.
4:08Ant McPartlin:I'm a Celebrity South Africa. Live finale happened on Friday. We will go into it. We'll discuss that later. We'll go into it a little bit more later. We'll tell you some ins and outs and a bit of backstage goss. Yeah, we'll give you our version of events. We'll tell you what happened. And what happened afterwards in the car park. Yeah. You may have read a few bits.
4:30Declan Donnelly:Apart from BGT went out on Saturday, though. That was good. Good fun one. A good team fun. Matt, if you love to anything else? Apart from hosting live television shows,
4:38Ant McPartlin:podcasts and whatnot. I've had a lovely weekend relaxing. Although I haven't slept very well. And there's very good reason for it. and I don't quite know what to do. So I need a bit of advice. So I'm waking up very, very early in the mornings. Right. Because. Specifics?
4:58Declan Donnelly:Because. No, I mean specific times, like what time is very early? 5.45. Oh, okay. Right.
5:07Ant McPartlin:And there's a reason for it. So I have an open fireplace in my bedroom. Right. Where's this going? and the chimney obviously is on the roof and close to the chimney is like my TV aerial and all of that, the stuff that you put on the roof. Yeah. And every morning at 5.45, a pigeon gets on the TV aerial and shouts down my chimney, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. It sounds like an alarm clock. Of course.
5:42Declan Donnelly:Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. And now that's like your sleep paralysis demon waking you up. Yes. Because I imagine your sleep paralysis demon is a pigeon.
5:53Ant McPartlin:Absolutely.
5:54Declan Donnelly:My nemesis. Yeah, it is your nemesis waking you up. And he's just sat there. He's like down the chimney like this. Oh, oh, oh. Oh, oh, oh. Or you took a screenshot. Did you record him? That's how you imagine him. No, I imagine that's how I imagine him. That's how you imagine him, yeah. Is he doing that? Oh, oh, oh. Because he knows you hear pigeons. Oh, oh, oh. He could be literally flipping me the bird. He's heard you. He's heard you having a go at pigeons for years and he's all hit the whole pigeon community. You've got to get that. And they've nominated him to go around your house. They finally found out where you live.
6:24Declan Donnelly:And that's it now. That's your life to live in hell. Don't joke. I have thought that. Yeah. Genuinely, I have thought that. I'm not joking. This does happen. Animals are intelligent, especially birds. What do I do at 5.45? It's literally happening every day. Well, there's only one bit of advice I can give you. I think what you should do is just completely restructure your day. Seems fair? Yeah. So that you start your day at 5.45. Imagine what you could get done. You could get 5.45 going for a run. No. 5.45, get down to the gym.
7:01Ant McPartlin:Oh, no.
7:01Declan Donnelly:Oos, oos. 5.45, meditate. Light an insert stick. I can't meditate with a... Change rooms.
7:11Ant McPartlin:Why should I change rooms? Why should I change rules for a pigeon? Yes. Get out of here.
7:17Declan Donnelly:Okay. Second bit of advice then. Get a speaker and put it in. With fire, please. Get like an eagle or a hawks. I'm sure you'll be able to search it. The noise that they make when they're going in for the kill. That'll scare them off. Do that and report back.
7:33Ant McPartlin:So I've got to get up at 5.5 in the morning, connect my Bluetooth speaker. No, I do that the night before.
7:39Declan Donnelly:Do that the night before. And also, you'd have to get up earlier, slightly earlier to press play.
Read the full transcript
7:44Ant McPartlin:Yeah. This isn't helping my...
7:46Declan Donnelly:No, set it all up the night before, right? Have it in the fireplace. I mean, who's got an open fireplace in their bedroom? How Victorian is that? Is that where you put your stockpins at Christmas? Is that where Santa comes down? Yes. Into your bedroom? How novel. So put the speaker in there, or do all of that the night before, and then it'll be on your phone, right? In a little sound edit that we can send through to you. And then do that. And on next week, let us know how you got on. Okay, maybe. And it's only going to get worse that the lighter it gets in the morning. Yeah, it is. So it might get earlier and earlier.
8:22Declan Donnelly:It will. So you need to deal with it now. I'll report back. Okay, please do.
8:27Ant McPartlin:I'll try all those things and report back. How's your week been?
8:31Declan Donnelly:Okay, very frustrating, but I feel good about it.
8:35Ant McPartlin:Why is that? Why is it frustrating?
8:38Declan Donnelly:Well, I'll tell you why, because the financial regulations I've imposed on myself. Your self-imposed spending bar. Yes. I'm sticking to it. Well done. Thank you very much. And how long are you doing this for? A full month or? Yeah, well, I'll get to the end of May. So I've got to the end of April. Hang on a minute. Nearly. Have a lot, let's face it. Got to the end of April and I thought, I've been really tested. Before you read whatever this is. There's a little letter coming here, but carry on. I've been really tested this week. Have you, temptation. Well, that's all it is. You get bombarded with stuff online, don't you?
9:13Declan Donnelly:Yes. On social media, you get bombarded with stuff. And now it knows what I like. What's caught your eye? I'm like a real sucker. What's caught your eye this week? Autry, the trainers, we love. Yes. There's loads of new styles out, new colours for the summer. And summer, and the weather's changed, so there's loads of new summer clothes out there, which I'd like to purchase. But I've said, no, I've got 20 pairs of shorts. I don't need another pair of shorts. No, you don't. But the big thing is, I noticed this week that McLaren, as in McLaren, the sports car. Yes. Are doing golf clubs. Justin Rose has signed up there.
9:49Declan Donnelly:Justin Rose is now using McLaren golf clubs. And they're going to make your ball go really fast. Fast, quick, true. It'll make me a better golfer. That traditionally would be the thing I would immediately go and buy, wouldn't it? Mm-hmm. And you can't. I can't. That's good though.
10:09Ant McPartlin:One, it's good self-restraint.
10:10Declan Donnelly:But I want to be a better golfer. That's good self-restraint. I want to be a better golfer. But also... What were the old clubs I had that I bought last year? Well, you just want me to be a bad golfer, don't you?
10:23Ant McPartlin:Yes. No, it's good. That's good self-restraint. I know it is. But also... I know it is. There'll be more good golf clubs coming along later. What, better than McLaren? Well, maybe... Are you mental? Is this McLaren's first set of golf clubs? Yes Yeah they're only going to get better
10:38Declan Donnelly:Yeah what Justin Rose is my golfing guinea pig Yes Yeah so all the mistakes he makes Yes I will learn from They're going to perfect for you Right okay I mean I wish I could agree with you but
10:49Ant McPartlin:We've got a letter here Go on Cassie and Bude Says hi you two Cassie and Bude What's the relationship there? Cassie and Bude I don't know Bude is the dog? Oh in Bude From Bude Sorry Cassie from Bude That makes more sense I'm going to send these glasses back
11:06Declan Donnelly:That was like another Betton. I've never heard of anyone called Bude. Ever.
11:10Ant McPartlin:Hey, Bude. Cassie's from Bude. She says, hi, you two. I went back to work in March.
11:16Declan Donnelly:Just redoing it means we're still going to show you getting it wrong. You know that, right? We can cut that bit out. Yeah, we will.
11:21Ant McPartlin:Never, never, never. Leave it in there. Thanks, Hacklars. Hi, you two. I wanted you both to know that I have started rating my children's behaviour with bananas. I ordered 100 small bananas from Amazon. Three tubs with their names on. and every time they do something really good or helpful, they get a banana. The maximum bananas they can get is, of course... Eight. Yes. Because it's the world record. So once they get to eight bananas, they get a treat. Our house is full of, do I get a banana for that? Be assured, these banana ratings are not given out lightly. They work hard to get awarded the full eight bananas.
11:53Ant McPartlin:Beats a star chart any day. So thank you. Respect, guys. Cassie from Beaud.
11:57Declan Donnelly:Have you got the bananas? Got us thinking. Oh, there they are. The thing is, though, I'm a grown-ass man, to quote David Hay. As David Hay would say. So I don't think I'm going to be swayed by a star chart or any kind of, oh, they're good on me. They're really good. They're great. If you're just listening, they're like a little bunch of bananas in my hand, the size of my thumb, although I have quite big thumbs. And they're all different. What do you mean? The next one's a peel banana. Where do you buy these? I shouldn't buy them. I can't buy them. You can't buy them.
12:30Ant McPartlin:You're not allowed to buy them.
12:30Declan Donnelly:So she'd give us these as a gift?
12:33Ant McPartlin:If you can have one every week that you don't spend, and if you get eight bananas, we'll get you a treat. Oh, that's good, isn't it?
12:41Declan Donnelly:Okay. And eight weeks because... Eight bananas. Eight bananas. Okay, can I start with this bunch? Yes. I can keep them in my... I've got a little banana holder here, which was on the shelf. Should I keep them in there? Yes. And then we can... There you go. There's the first one. Go on in. Have a listen to this. That's quite satisfying, isn't it? Week one, done. Thank you very much, Cassie. And Bored, the dog. Beute. Beute. Beute. Hey, Beute. Thanks for the banana things. This is an advert for Santander, who understand that saving for your first home can feel almost impossible and the road to Ornan can be a bumpy one.
13:27Declan Donnelly:do you remember when we lived together for the first time
13:30Ant McPartlin:how could I forget
13:32Declan Donnelly:in that flat in London
13:33Ant McPartlin:I don't think you ever forget the first time you live away from home either do you oh my god we were in this flat didn't really have a clue what we were doing we never cooked never cooked takeaways every night we didn't have
13:43Declan Donnelly:a coarse hook we just had a pile of coats on the floor
13:46Ant McPartlin:did we not
13:47Declan Donnelly:we just throw coats on the pile
13:49Ant McPartlin:we had a dishwasher although we never knew we had a dishwasher until the day we moved out until the day we moved out and the letting agent came round and checked all the cupboards went, oh yeah, dishwasher works all right. We're like, oh my God. Dishwasher? That was a dishwasher. Not a clue. We were absolutely clueless. We were. We were clueless. And then when it came to buying, oh, we were doubly clueless. No idea. Bit of a stumble, but not bad. That's good. That's very good. Well done. Well done, Fiona. Santander, it starts here. I was clearing out my garage. There's not a lot to clear out because I'd recently moved house. Yeah. But there was a bag, right, zipped up. And in the bag was like a spherical shape, a round shape, right? So I thought it was like an old football or something.
15:24Declan Donnelly:I thought I must throw that out. is this something to swap I don't think so oh okay I don't think anyone would want this I brought it in though for it to show you what it is because it's not a football it's not even a cabbage which is the other thing I thought it was I don't know why
15:39Ant McPartlin:it's a spherical shape in a bag yeah it's not a football
15:44Declan Donnelly:well here's the bag
15:46Ant McPartlin:so so if you're just listening yeah it's a black bag something in it it's coming out in it hold on in it Oh, wow.
15:57Declan Donnelly:Hi, guys. So this, so look, see, it's very fragile. This is me. It's my Spitting Image puppet. Now, Spitting Image was a satirical comedy show on ITV. It ran for years when we were growing up. It was huge when we were kids. Yeah, it was huge. And then they'd done like a best of 20 years, 20 years Spitting Image or 25 years, something like that. And they'd done me in deck. In this best of show, our puppets hosted the show with the worst accents, I have to say.
16:28Ant McPartlin:We didn't even do the voices and obviously it was puppets. So we hosted the show, but it wasn't anything to do with us. What do you think?
16:35Declan Donnelly:Do you think it looks like me? Yes. Can't tell the difference.
16:40Ant McPartlin:Uncanny.
16:41Declan Donnelly:Oh no, look at my trousers. I'm disintegrating on myself.
16:45Ant McPartlin:Oh no, this is like... Can you see it?
16:48Declan Donnelly:What is that?
16:48Ant McPartlin:Stuff from... it's your innards your brains it's brain it's brain
16:58Declan Donnelly:right put a neck there there you go the problem is with the with the neck disintegrating the way it has it I'm just all forehead
17:07Ant McPartlin:that looks like your lips now like the neck it's like a smile yeah it does look like my lips
17:11Declan Donnelly:it's a bit yeah it's not great there is it I wonder if any we know anybody anybody listening to the pod can help me kind of restore it I was I was thinking about taking it to a repair shop, but that would be very narcissistic of me to do so.
17:24Ant McPartlin:Could be a great episode, though. Would you watch? You've got to go back and cry at it. At the end.
17:30Declan Donnelly:I'm crying at it now because it looks like I'm just getting old. It's like Benjamin Button.
17:35Ant McPartlin:The problem with it, if you're just listening, Ian's got it on the shelf, and if you're just listening, because half of the face has kind of disappeared, it makes your forehead look very prominent.
17:44Declan Donnelly:Well, it makes you look like I'm all forehead. I mean, I'm not like that in real life. It's disproportionate, isn't it? Yeah?
17:53Ant McPartlin:Yeah? Kind of. Yeah. Tell you what I could do with it. Stick it on my roof to scare away the pigeons. Oh, yeah. No, put your own bloody head on the roof to scare away the pigeons. Speaking of all TV shows, have you seen all of the SMTV footage that is now on Belterbox? Yes, I have.
18:11Declan Donnelly:And I've subscribed, like I suggest you do too.
18:17Ant McPartlin:There's loads of challenge on there. loads of challenge some wonky donky really good stuff but it made me realise that we left SMTV 25 years ago did we? this year really? we left in 2001
18:28Declan Donnelly:oh my goodness so it started 28 years ago left in 2001 so yeah we've been gone we've been gone for 25 years 25 years but people still quote wonky donky to us on the streets they still talk about chums they still talk about challenge and yeah it's great and it's great to relive all those moments on Belterbox like Belterbox is the home of archive content where you can see like Saturday Night Takeaway, best bits, all the undercovers in your ears and also all of the Saturday morning stuff as well that we did.
18:58Ant McPartlin:It's good. It's great. Really good. But it got me thinking about how we came up with the idea for Challenge Ant. Do you remember? Yeah, I do. So we both had a little break. So we had four weeks off in the summer from SMTV. The rest of the time we were on air every Saturday morning. We did 48 weeks a year and we had our first summer break and we both went on holiday. We came back. We went to the pub together. We did, where all the best ideas are born. Went to the pub and I came back and he said, I've had an idea to have a quiz, me against kids. It's like, right. I think he thought it was going to be skewed in his favour that they were eight years old.
19:35Ant McPartlin:Of course they did.
19:36Declan Donnelly:No, because the whole thing was, I'd said, let's do a quiz, me versus kids, because I'd seen there was a rise in that everybody who participates gets a prize. and I was so against that at the time and we were like look if I win then and they lose then they don't walk away with any prizes we've got to be quite hard about it and when we pitched it to everybody at the show they were like yeah but
19:58Ant McPartlin:yeah but they get a consolation prize right and we were
20:01Declan Donnelly:we were just so positive
20:04Ant McPartlin:that we were right we kept saying we can't no it's a life lesson yeah we did for these kids that they can't always gamble yeah and win and if you do gamble and lose sometimes you go away with nothing yeah
20:15Declan Donnelly:and you don't always get something for taking part. I think the only thing they took away was a handkerchief if they lost to cry their tears into.
20:22Ant McPartlin:Wow.
20:22Declan Donnelly:Yeah, I know. I know. Wow, huh? Because we'd done a show prior to that, the Adam Deck show on CBBC, where we shaved off the contestants' hair if they lost. So us just not giving them a CD or a CD player, that was nothing. It was nothing to us.
20:40Ant McPartlin:It started off that we were going to shave their eyebrows and they didn't let us do that. we weren't allowed to do that. So we ended up shaving their heads instead. The full head was easier to get past than just the eyebrows. Yeah, full head. I think that was the thing. I think if you start with eyebrows and they go, they're horrified, then you go, okay, what about their heads? And they go, oh yeah, that's better. So if you start at eyebrows, shaving their heads doesn't seem so bad. So kids? Kids, yeah, we shaved the kids' hair, yeah.
21:06Declan Donnelly:I'm surprised I haven't bumped into anyone on the street who I've faced back in the day. Because you played a lot of kids. I played loads of kids. and most of the time in the early days I won then as soon as they got wind of Harry Potter which I hadn't read a single page of it's kryptonite oh it was like kryptonite to me it was my Achilles heel it was just I just didn't have a clue not a clue because the producer sent you all the books he sent me all the books so he's like there's this book that's kind of the kids are all getting behind now and they're really loving so it probably best have a read of them just so you've got a clue when it comes to to challenge her.
21:44Declan Donnelly:And I thought, what's it about? Let's have a look. And I looked on the back and he's like, a little boy who thinks he's a wizard goes to wizarding school. Are you joking? Absolutely no way on this earth. Like, we're listening to Oasis and Blur and like going out to see gigs in the evening, weren't we? Yeah. But like going down the pub most times, I'm not going to read a book about a magic boy in the bin you go. And that box set itself, that probably cost some money now. Yeah, probably. Couldn't tell you where it is. What a shame. Well, yeah. So once they got wind, that was my Achilles heel, then I lost a lot.
22:17Ant McPartlin:Yeah, you did. Near the end. We've actually got a clip of the first time that question was a Harry Potter question. Harry Potter question? Yeah, do you want to see it? Yes, please. All right. Let's have a look. Can we have today's killer question, please?
22:32Declan Donnelly:Who is playing Hagrid in the film version of Harry Potter?
22:41Big Boy, what's it called?
22:52Declan Donnelly:She loved that. Look at that moment. Look at how much she loved that. Not happy. Freeze frame my face. I was not happy when I got beat. Not happy at all. I used to hate getting beat. Very cute little girl who beat you there. Get her back. See if I can get redemption. See if I can beat her. We'll play her again. Play her again, not high-poil questions. Yeah, okay. If you're listening, what you called Charlotte? Charlotte. Charlotte, if you're listening, I dare you to take me on. Dare you. Dare you. Dare you. Dare you.
23:30Declan Donnelly:Well, it went down so well last week. We mentioned this at the top of the pod, but famous guy swaps things is a hit. It's a podcast hit. It is. Code Fire, everyone's talking about, everyone's engaging with it. People want to swap things. I've got lots of potential swaps for you this week for the Slow Cooker. Before we get to the Slow Cooker, before you bring it out, I just want to talk about the drum kit.
23:53Ant McPartlin:I'm thrilled with it. Thank you.
23:54Declan Donnelly:Yeah, that's not the actual drum kit. What? Still haven't swapped yet. Oh. The air fryer's gone. Right. That's gone. Right. That's winging its way. might have even been received. We're still waiting on the drum kit. Oh, okay. So I borrowed a set of drums. Just so I can have a little... Just so you can have a little tinker at the top of the show. But they are the same as this. So there you go. Well, I love it. Right. Ready for some potential swaps? Yeah. Okay, bring out what we're swapping for, please. One sec. This is the slow cooker that Deck has two of. I don't know who has two slow cookers these days.
24:27Declan Donnelly:There you are. Everybody air fries things, don't they? You should get yourself an air fryer.
24:30Ant McPartlin:Oh, no, not for...
24:34Declan Donnelly:Not for pulled pork. So explain about what we're swapping.
24:38Ant McPartlin:This is a slow cooker. What color is it?
24:41Declan Donnelly:It's black. It's got a glass lid. Yeah, we can hear that rattling. So just keep that still. Just for the lister.
24:46Ant McPartlin:And it's got a big knob on the front.
24:50Declan Donnelly:Big knob has given away a big knob. Slow cooker. Right, should we sign this? Yes. Sign this? Okay, then. Well, should we wait to see who we're swapping it to? Yeah, okay. Well, there's the gold pen. Keep that in your hand. And I will get out the potential swaps for Famous Guy Swaps Things. Famous Guy Swaps Things. This is the first potential swap for the slow cooker. Have we had lots of response to this? Lots of responses. Right. I've got the first swap here, but I've got a few legal requirements. Because it's blown up. Whatever you're swapping has to be yours. Okay. You've got to be over 18. you can of course swap some of your kids stuff because you're over 18 you bought them it I'm not swapping kids I don't know anybody else's kids you like your kids yeah I like my kids most of the time you like them you don't want to swap them I think is that it have you got any more to see Jemana I've got some official ones go on I'll whiz through them quickly we're inviting one listener to take part in a swap with deck this isn't a competition or a prize draw if selected will be in touch to arrange a swap you'll need to be over 18 able to confirm your details
25:53Ant McPartlin:for collection or drop off and ready to complete the swap promptly by putting yourself forward you're confirming that the item is yours to swap and that you have full permission to do so.
26:00Declan Donnelly:Oh, bravo. Bravo. Bravo. That was better than mine. So far the slow cooker? Yes. The first potential swap is this. The letter says, hi, Ant and Dec and team. Hi. Firstly, I love your podcast. It's pawsome. Don't know what that means. Okay. I'm so in need of a slow cooker. And I love a slow cooker cookbook. Oh, I forgot the book. I was supposed to bring that to you, wasn't I? Yes, you are. I forgot. We'll get that to you. In return, I would like to offer you a black cat cushion.
26:40Ant McPartlin:That's good. Now, there's a reason. If you're just listening, there is a very nice black cat cushion.
26:46Declan Donnelly:Well, I'm glad you said it was very nice because it looks exactly like my gorgeous black cat, Harry Cowie, says the person who's written it.
26:53Ant McPartlin:Is this why we're having a Pawson podcast?
26:55Declan Donnelly:Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Makes sense now. God, God, God, God. As you're allergic to proper cats, I thought Jack and Isla would love this cushion. Not sure how Rocky would react to it, though. I'm not sure. As I say, love the show and respect, guys. That's from Rachel Cowie in Bournemouth. It's very nice.
27:14Ant McPartlin:I'm slightly nervous that if Harry Cowie has come into contact with the cushion, I'll be allergic to the cushion.
27:21Declan Donnelly:Well, I could ask her to steam clean it. Okay. I'm going to put possible... if you steam clean.
27:29Ant McPartlin:Yeah.
27:30Declan Donnelly:Right, swap two. Swap two. That's a possible, yeah. Put that in the possible list. Yeah. Heckless corner. How about these?
27:40Ant McPartlin:The tap shoes are back. If you're just listening, there's a pair of silver tap shoes on the screen. Silver tap shoes,
27:46Declan Donnelly:which we had last week, but thankfully, she's rolled back in again. Yes or no? Possible? Put it as possible. Put it as possible. Swap three. Undex. For the slow cooker, I can offer my vintage...
28:01Ant McPartlin:Hello, now I'm interested. Vintage? I'm interested. Pig. Yes.
28:07Declan Donnelly:I like that. I know it's your pig on the shelf. Baby John Pork. Baby John Pork. And I'm a big fan of a novelty pig myself. So I thought you might like a distinguished gentleman to sit alongside Baby John Pork. Me and my boyfriend are just about to buy our first house. so slow cooker would be very handy that's from Amber oh yeah
28:29Ant McPartlin:that's all nice
28:30Declan Donnelly:but I really like the pig oh okay right I'm just I'm trying to like you know get a play a little guilt trip on you there
28:36Ant McPartlin:yeah no you don't need to I like that pig and I think baby John Pork here he's got nobody to play football with on the shelf he's got his little ball by his feet he could do the little pal it's a possible
28:48Declan Donnelly:it's a possible it's a possible it's a possible we like him a lot next one Hyatt and Dick In exchange for the slow cooker, I present to you... Ooh, I like this. A Royal Standard Fine Bone China Tea Set. What? This tea could be perfect for the podcast. Imagine it. Chaos, banter, and then suddenly delicate teacups. Star guest nervously sipping will try not to smash the priceless crockery. Comedy gold. Or deck, this could be yet another new hobby. Part-time tea connoisseur. Living, hosting little tea parties. at home, pinkies up, judging people's pouring technique, living your best British life. Whether it ends up on the podcast set or in your kitchen, all I'm saying is this tea set deserves a bigger stage than my dining table, which will also like some freedom back.
29:39Declan Donnelly:I presume it takes up a lot of space. Hope this gives me a fighting chance. Love, Cora from Harrogate. Great letter, Cora.
29:47Ant McPartlin:Cora, great letter.
29:48Declan Donnelly:Great letter. Now that is a pitch. Do we have a picture of the tea set? We don't have a photo, I'm afraid.
29:55Ant McPartlin:Don't have a photo of it. Don't have a photo. It's a great letter. It's a great letter, isn't it? I'm slightly... Fiona's shaking her head.
30:02Declan Donnelly:Why are you shaking your head? Well, we want to see it before we stop, surely.
30:07Ant McPartlin:It's risky, isn't it? Yeah. Stop. Potential or not potential? It's a potential. I'm interested. Okay. I love the letter, but absence of visuals. I find it hard to use my imagination. Okay, that could be out, guys. I've tried my best. That's just a product of AI. I'm better than using my own imagination.
30:23Declan Donnelly:You know, Harrogate's quite posh. Yeah, it is very posh. Very posh in Yorkshire. It's the poshest part of Yorkshire. Yeah. It's where the water's from. Harrogate water. Yeah, I know. So it's going to be good stuff. Okay. It's a possible. Next up. Hi, guys. Hi. Thanks for featuring my silly goose on your pod. Oh, we like the silly goose. Got quite far. Yeah, it did. My family have found it absolutely hilarious. And it was a great way to stop my moaning. I felt like I needed to throw my hat into this slow cooker ring as well. And there's a photo of the silly goose with curly hair. Oh, good. And I can confirm I can do a black and white striped hat and bow tie.
31:07Declan Donnelly:That's very tempting. Very tempting. And that was from Megan, the same person who wrote in last week. Thank you, Megan. Put your specs on, have a good look at that. Have a good look. There's a lot to take in around the picture. It's a busy picture. Very busy. I like it still? it's a possible okay good good definitely
31:23Ant McPartlin:black and white striped hat and Dickie Ball?
31:26Declan Donnelly:and Dickie Ball and Dickie Ball next swap great podcast well done the pair of you thank you thank you thank you very much not you lot not you lot not you Meg not you not you nobody on a little us two makes this happen I would like something to be considered for the next famous guy swaps things. The offer would be to both of you. Wow. Here we go. Fresh from the North Pole, Santa's workshop. What? By our studio in Kent is this. A bespoke chopping board for Santa with a space for a drink and mince pie for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph. They can be named with individual names to suit each of your own offspring.
32:13Declan Donnelly:Kindest regards and respect, guys. Mike Pierce, that is amazing. I love that. Oh, he loves it. He loves it. In a sense, this is a swap with Santa because fresh from his workshop, but he must work for Santa. I don't know.
32:30Ant McPartlin:That's confused me.
32:32Declan Donnelly:Yeah. Fresh from the North Pole, Santa's workshop via our studio in Kent. Okay. So he must work for Santa. Yes. Yes. Santa's very busy. So he's got to form things out. He's outsourced. The chopping boards. Understandably so. You like that? I like it a lot. That is a possible? It's very possible. Okay, good. We can whittle down at the end, but so far, that is a possible. We'll have to whittle that as well? No, you don't have to whittle it. Oh, okay. He's going to do it. He does that in his workshop in Kent, which has come from the North Pole. Got it. Santa's workshop, because he's outsourced, because he's too busy.
33:03Declan Donnelly:Next one. How about these? Gorgeous little duckies. All the way from Gatesville, Texas, which is the spur capital of the world. These little chaps would enhance your life, giving much pleasure and enjoyment Love you both. Helen, Newcastle upon Tyne.
33:20Ant McPartlin:Thank you, Helen. You can keep them. You don't like them? They're not for me. No? No. Okay, that's a no. They don't really flaunt my...
33:30Declan Donnelly:Rubber duck? Rubber duck. No? Okay, that's a no. Helen, a fellow Geordie has just turned you down on his podcast. Let's see your reception next time you go back to Newcastle upon Tyne. You'll be booed at when you cross the time bridge. And finally, I got a message here. Hi, Ant. no just and thanks and here from last week with the quiet please signs oh yes gutted I hit the post on the air fryer you see what he said yeah that's a football related thing
34:02Ant McPartlin:yeah it's not really golfy is it
34:03Declan Donnelly:yeah gutted I was over poor he should have said really shouldn't he for some reason my wife has also bought two slow cookers as well so swapping the signs for a third would be no good to me no Sorry, Deck. I'm sure there is still a deal to be done for the sign, or maybe both signs, if you have something really good. Deck, wink emoji. Respect, guys. As always, Andy. He's not offering them for us. That was just a final message.
34:32Ant McPartlin:When I heard Andy was back in touch, I thought, here we go. Well, I'm going to keep that to one side
34:37Declan Donnelly:because I might go back to Andy myself because I really want those. Should we summarise? Let's summarise.
34:43Ant McPartlin:What have we got possibles?
34:44Declan Donnelly:The cat cushion from Rachel. Okay, I've gone off.
34:46Ant McPartlin:that slightly
34:48Declan Donnelly:shall I strike that do you want to come back to it in a second we'll come back to it we've got the tap shoes from Caroline
34:54Ant McPartlin:no strike them you put that on the list
34:56Declan Donnelly:not me short makes it to the shortlist never quite gets it over the line the distinguished pig from Amber like him you like him keep him on the shortlist the T-step from Cora
35:06Ant McPartlin:yeah yeah yeah
35:07Declan Donnelly:without a photo I would like a photo
35:08Ant McPartlin:I'd like a photo so that's a no no leave it on for a minute
35:13Declan Donnelly:the silly goose the crocheted silly goose and you can see now the silly goose has curly hair and she said she can do a black and white top hat.
35:21Ant McPartlin:I don't think for this it's the silly goose. So no silly goose. No silly goose this time.
35:26Declan Donnelly:And finally, the chopping board which was made in Santa's workshop via Kent. Yeah, outsourced. I like that a lot. Okay. So what we're down to? We're down to cat cushion, distinguished pig, tea set, chopping board. Find out what he picks after this break on Famous Guys Bob Stings.
35:47Ant McPartlin:This is an advert for Gemini, Google's personal AI assistant.
35:51Declan Donnelly:Right, I've got a board and a pick with you. You know, the other week you were berating my cardigan. Well, it... Berating. I didn't berate it, but I just gently poked fun at it. So I thought we'd put this matter to bed. Let's just ask Google Gemini. Let's Google Gemini. So, Gemini, are cardigans sexy? Cardigans can definitely be stylish and attractive. Some people might find them appealing.
36:13Ant McPartlin:Some people might find them appealing. Doesn't sound very sexy to me. Hang on a minute. Let me get you on the camera. I'm not wearing a cardigan. No, no, but... It's a jumper. That's all right. Gemini, on the whole, what could Ant do to elevate his look?
36:27Declan Donnelly:You could try incorporating some trendy items like stylish sneakers or a modern jacket. Don't be afraid to experiment with bold colours and accessories to show your personality. Right, this is my personality, Gemini. Navy blue with cool trainers and a bracelet. That's it. It's very slimming. With Gemini, you can chat with a truly helpful AI assistant. 37:04Declan Donnelly:Check responses set up required. Compatibility and availability varies. 18 plus. Welcome back to Hanging Out with Ant and Dec. or should I say famous guy swaps things. It's very tense here in the studio. It's very tense. We've whittled it down to two items. The tap shoes.
37:23Ant McPartlin:No, no, no, no. Oh, it's the tap shoes. You want the tap shoes? No, no, no.
37:27Declan Donnelly:Not the tap shoes. I read that wrong. It's the distinguished pig from Amber or the chopping board from Mark.
37:36Ant McPartlin:I've made a decision.
37:38Declan Donnelly:What are you going to go for, famous guy?
37:42Ant McPartlin:Famous guy, What are you going to swap? I've made my mind up. Yep. And I think the distinguished pig would look incredible on the shelf here behind us.
37:57Ant McPartlin:However, I'm going to go for the chopping board.
37:59Declan Donnelly:Yes! Oh, that is wonderful.
38:03Ant McPartlin:Yeah, yeah. That is wonderful. Does it mean I have to change the kids' names to Maggie? Because it was Maggie on the chopping board.
38:08Declan Donnelly:Well, I think what you were saying is that you can put your kids' names on there.
38:13Ant McPartlin:Oh, okay. That's even better.
38:14Declan Donnelly:Yeah.
38:15Ant McPartlin:That's even better. I was prepared to change the kids' names. They were both going to be renamed Maggie.
38:19Declan Donnelly:You could just call them out at Christmas. Hey, Maggie, what are you doing, Maggie 2? Yeah, the chopping board. Chopping board. The chopping board it is. It's very cute. Well done. It's very, very cute. Well done, Mark. This famous guy is swapping his slow cooker with your chopping board. Woo! Congratulations on the swap. Should I sign the pot rather than the nick? Sign the potches in case it comes off in the lid.
38:42Ant McPartlin:Right. Two mark. Happy cooking. Thanks for the swap. Keep cooking.
38:49Declan Donnelly:Right, you've got to sign it as well. Okay, what did you put? Two mark. Thanks for the swap. There you go. My autograph's slightly bigger than yours.
38:59Ant McPartlin:There we go. That's not his favourite. Nice doing business with you. Thanks, Mark.
39:03Declan Donnelly:That's it for this week's Famous Guy Swaps Things. I would like to have another look at Andy's email here where he still where he says he still has the signs the Quiet Please signs from the open how have we not got them on our shelves I'm happy to swap something with him for them okay well let's see what you got okay the um the Spit Nibbage head yeah I don't think we can give that away yeah but um yeah I'll have a look shall I have a little root around yeah I do have like an old Freewood that you might want. I think you've got to do better than that. I can give away golf stuff, like a three wood, like a five wood, some irons.
39:46Ant McPartlin:Shoes?
39:48Declan Donnelly:Shoes? I can put some golf shoes in there. Hang on, so a three wood,
39:52Ant McPartlin:a five wood, some irons? That's pretty much a set of clubs. Yeah, pretty much a set of clubs. Pretty much. If you're interested in some golf stuff events, some clubs and shoes and balls and tees and a golf membership. Did you say a membership? I didn't say a membership. No, you didn't say a membership. No, no, no. Get in touch with us, hanging out at butlerbox.com. We'll do some swapping next week. Okay. Look forward to it.
40:15Declan Donnelly:Now, we mentioned earlier in the show that we would give you a little bit of backstage gossip from the I'm a Celebrity South Africa final. It was quite the night. It was, oh my God, it had, it had like kind of flashbacks of Jerry Springer over it, didn't it? It just had a little taste of, Jerry Springer, there was walkouts. There was people goading each other. It was a weird night of TV.
40:41Ant McPartlin:It was very weird. We didn't know quite what to expect when we got to the studio. No. Because there'd been so much stuff in the press written about who was talking to who and who wasn't talking to who and who was upset with who. So we weren't quite sure what to expect.
40:56Declan Donnelly:And then we got to the studio and someone said, did you see Craig Charles on This Morning? so we watched quickly on ITVX watched Craig Charles' interview on this morning and we were gobsmacked that it had kind of escalated to that stage so we were like oh right okay this could all because we just thought we'd have a laugh
41:16Ant McPartlin:and we've seen David Haye on various things podcasts and interviews kind of doubling down tripling down and quadrupling down on his theories about women and other stuff and his opinions on Adam and whatnot so we kind of thought he was going to come in and shake things up a bit. We didn't know until quite late on whether Jimmy was coming or not. Then we found out that Jimmy was coming, but that he had a bit of a beanies bonnet and he wanted to get that off his chest. So it was kind of a weird night all around. And we'd heard that Gemma and Adam had left the WhatsApp group and that there was a lot of moaning and complaining in the WhatsApp group.
41:55Declan Donnelly:We're not in this WhatsApp group. This is WhatsApp group just for the celebrities.
41:59Ant McPartlin:But a lot of people talking about what they were going to do and what they were going to say when the show came around. So we had no idea which way it was going to go. And actually, the main show went very, very smoothly until we played Adam's trial and David Haye heckles from the audience. Do you think you deserve to win after all that? Oh, here we go.
42:20Declan Donnelly:So that was a taste of what was to come in the second show. And we said to David and to Jimmy in the front row, look, you'll get your right to reply in the results show later. Not thinking that we would give them that much right to reply, but that's what happened.
42:37Ant McPartlin:So we started the results show with the first question was to Jimmy about why did you call I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here? And then he took us on a really long and intricate discussion about his contract and when would he get paid and how would he get paid? And I was like, where is this going? Yeah. So it basically turned out that Jimmy wanted his full pay. It was unfortunate that he threw Adam under the bus.
43:02Declan Donnelly:But they'd since made up over it.
43:04Ant McPartlin:Yeah, although he didn't care that he was throwing Adam under the bus. He was going to call him a celebrity, get me out of here. He wanted to get paid. Adam was collateral damage. And the fact that Adam got angry Adam for that, well, Jimmy took exception to that. He did. Which feels kind of weird.
43:24Declan Donnelly:to me that the whole thing was weird to me and which is why you know on the night I said I disagreed with him um quite firmly David Haystall get involved who wasn't even there yeah of course you told him which I told him but then he went yeah fair enough which I thought was pretty good and then it just unfortunately it just kind of went on too long out we thought we tried to handle it as professionally as we could and keep on tracking. And also, we were meant to give a question to every celebrity there.
43:57Ant McPartlin:That was the real shame is that we were supposed to hear from every single person.
43:59Declan Donnelly:And then at the end of it, you know, there was a lot of shouting from Jimmy and he left the studio.
44:05Ant McPartlin:What should we talk about when we left the studio? Yeah, we left the studio. We left separately. You went first.
44:10Declan Donnelly:I went first. I saw David Hay first. In the car park. Standing in the car park. There's two people in the car park. David Hay and Jimmy Bullard. I thought, oh God, how's your luck? So anyway, I went over to David Hay and he was like, how brilliant was that? Wasn't that great? And I was like, well, it was certainly talk about TV. I wouldn't call it great. But anyway, we had a laugh and we were cool. And then I walked off and seen Jimmy Bullard and I was just chucked his hand. And I was like, look, look after yourself. And he was like, yeah, yeah, cheers, cheers, cheers. So there was no confrontation.
44:39Declan Donnelly:There was no, he wasn't shouting at me. I wasn't shouting at him. I wasn't flanked by two security guards, as it said in the paper. I mean, I think they were kind of, one of them was carrying me back to the car, which in a Beyonce style. But I saw Jimmy and went over to Jimmy. So there was no kind of argument between us two in the car park.
45:00Ant McPartlin:I saw David Haye on the way out. He's in a, what about that then? Hope you get some good ratings for that one. See, he doesn't care. Thanks, David.
45:07Declan Donnelly:That's what he does. He's a boxer. That's his stock in trade. It's, you know, calling out from the audience or the, you know, when you're at a boxing match, you shout at the fighter in the ring or vice versa.
45:17Ant McPartlin:That's what we all do to sell pay-per-views. Yeah, exactly. He's used to it.
45:20Declan Donnelly:Yeah. So it was a bit of sport for him. I just felt it was a shame that the crowning moment of I'm a celebrity South Africa couldn't have been more celebratory. If anything, remember it for Craig Charles having a bath in the washing up bowl. That's how I'll remember it. Well, the picture's on the screen. That photograph of Dec from the 90s is back on the screen. It's not a photograph. Time for Dec's Diary. It's Dec's Diary.
45:55Ant McPartlin:Oh, very 90s.
46:05Declan Donnelly:This has got number one written all over it.
46:07Ant McPartlin:12th of April, 1994. Day 16 of Life on the Road. up at 7.30 and off to Heathrow to catch a plane. Right. Matt, our TV plugger, met us there and we had a very underlined quick breakfast. Why very quick breakfast? Don't know. Onto the plane and up, up and away.
46:33Declan Donnelly:How right like that? Me.
46:36Ant McPartlin:Travel was still a novelty back in the 90s. So we're on the plane. we arrived in Belfast I know what happens here I think picked up and driven to the studios well a converted warehouse it was sort of a why don't you type of programme yes I know why don't you very well it was called Over the Wall yeah I think we did it we had a good laugh with water pistols and the bloke on the bike
47:07Declan Donnelly:well I don't remember that what was the bloke on the bike
47:09Ant McPartlin:I don't remember the bloke on the bike was that a sketch
47:11Declan Donnelly:No idea. If you remember over the wall, let us know.
47:16Ant McPartlin:We left around 4pm and flew back from Belfast. We were picked up and taken to Hollywood's in Romford. Oh my God, what a day that was. Long old day. We had a gig that night. Belfast to Essex. Our producer, Nicky Graham, was there, along with Denny, Michael and Adam Hollywood. Oh yes. From Telstar Records. They were all there. They'd all come out to the first gig where we had forgotten to bring a CD. Did we? We didn't have any music. We didn't have any music. Did mine too? We didn't have any music. What? Our manager left Tonight I'm Free in Kent. Oh, what an idiot. We had to go on stage in Hollywoods and Rumford.
48:01Ant McPartlin:This rings a bell, you know. So we had to go on stage to do the cool mix. it looked sounded and very definitely felt like the 12 inch version yeah that was the end of the day we um we stood on stage and performed to a mix we'd never heard before
48:20Declan Donnelly:oh my god that happened twice to us it happened there and it happened in Germany on Bravo Super Show that's right or was it France was it France it was France it was France and we were singing When I Fallen Love but it was a dance remix of When I Fall In Love and us nor the dancers who were dancing with us at the time had ever heard it before so we just had to just keep making it up and dance isn't weird dance moves
48:49Ant McPartlin:but yeah that was a big gig we had the record company come to see us the record producer everybody came to see us in Essex and we had the wrong backing track embarrassing
48:59Declan Donnelly:very embarrassing how embarrassing does it get better? well next week do we learn? Anything? Do we get more professional? Does our team get more professional? I doubt it.
49:10Ant McPartlin:I doubt it. Next week, we have the Smash Hits review is in for Why Me. Oh. And then the week after. You bastard! Hope it's better than Just17. So do I.
49:22Declan Donnelly:Bastards!
49:24Ant McPartlin:Smash Hits review is in next week. And then the week after, we get the midweek chart position. Look forward to that. Can't wait! I'm bringing in the post bag I'm bringing in the post bag
49:37Declan Donnelly:I brought in the post bag Great, well done Oh, what's this? Let's see what we got Hello, I'm Declan the Hangout Crew Hi Are you a crew? How many of you called a crew? It's not offensive to you? I think so Good I'm absolutely loving the podcast and couldn't pass up the opportunity to tell you how Declan is slightly in brackets slightly responsible for the birth of my first child
50:02Ant McPartlin:I only kissed her in Maryland's nightclub Nothing else, no funny business
50:08Declan Donnelly:My husband and I were lucky enough to get production tickets To the final Saturday Night Takeaway show That had a live audience In the green room We met both Ant and Dec Who were incredibly kind and lovely Thanks Dec was telling us how much he was enjoying life as a dad to Isla And asked me and my husband if we had any children We said no But little did Dec know we had been trying for around a year and a half with no luck. We'd been for tests and there was no explanation as to why we weren't falling pregnant. It had been upsetting and at that point I had pretty much given up hope and thought maybe motherhood wasn't for me.
50:43Declan Donnelly:So to keep the mood light we just said no, not yet. And Depp replied oh you must it's the best thing in the world go home right now and make babies. How awkward is that? You don't know what people are going through just keep your mouth shut. Alright, alright. Keep your mouth shut. But he said it so enthusiastically and was so sweet and sincere, it put a huge smile on my face. So we took his advice. And a few weeks later, I got the very much wanted positive pregnancy test. And now we have a beautiful five-year-old girl called Marnie and a three-year-old son called Austin. You're not responsible for that one, though.
51:18Declan Donnelly:Our little family is complete. And every time my favorite duo are on screen, the kids say, Uncle Dex on the telly. Thanks for being such rays of sunshine every day. Lots of love from me and the kiddos, Charlotte.
51:32Ant McPartlin:Oh, Charlotte. What a lovely letter to read out. That is so lovely. I'm so glad I could help. By ordering you to leave the studios immediately. And have sex.
51:45Declan Donnelly:Go home and have sex. I'm going to just say that to everybody I meet now. Go and have babies. Go and have babies. In the home that I get once. in the hub I receive a letter like this that is so lovely that's a lovely letter you should take that one home take that one home Charlotte show the current Mrs Donnelly

I don't know the range the shop the shop it's the shop oh yeah this is from Debbie Johnson and Milton Keynes hi guys I popped to the range today for one thing and as usual came back with a trolley full of stuff I don't need. Always happens. Then I spot out a picture on the side of a plant pot and had to do a double take. It looked like a fat ant and deck. Or should I say... Or should I say... Deck and ant! It so does! It really does! I stood there laughing to myself while other shamans avoided eye contact.
52:50Ant McPartlin:Can you see the resemblance too?
52:51Declan Donnelly:It really looks like us!
52:52Ant McPartlin:Lots of love and bananas from Debbie and Milton Keynes.
52:56Declan Donnelly:That really does look like a fat ant in death. I mean, they're both look similar. We'll get a little plant next week and we'll recreate the photo. On that little plant pot, I think it's time we wrap up the show.
