In short

Week 2 NFL season talk plus fantasy football advice, “Top Five” week 1 memorable moments, and a “daddies deliver” segment celebrating NFL men over 40; also discussion of “aging” narratives for women and older NFL players.

Guests

No guests appear in the transcript. Hosts are Victoria and Giovanna (with occasional mentions of sister Brittany and a fantasy helper Jojo/Lauren Mock, but they are not guests).

Key claims

  • Don’t panic if your fantasy team stunk in week 1; injuries create waiver opportunities.
  • NFL fines can be “made examples,” citing Jalen Carter’s spit incident.
  • Older players (30+) are treated like they’re “done,” compared to how women are treated after 35.
  • Coaching/leadership changes matter (Ben Johnson leaving Detroit for Chicago is framed as a difference-maker).

Notable examples

  • Jalen Carter fined $37,000 for spitting on Dak Prescott (“spit gate”).
  • Trey Hendrickson “crybaby” moment after roughing-the-passer call vs Joe Flacco.
  • Isaac (likely Isaiah) “one-arm” touchdown for the Lions; story includes arriving to interviews wearing a Lions jersey.
  • Bills-Ravens: Matt Prater’s 50+ yard field goals and Bills’ 41-40 comeback; DeAndre Hopkins one-handed catch.
  • “Daddies”: Matt Prater (41), Aaron “Daddy Rogers” Rodgers (40), Joe “Daddy Flacco.”

0:22Victoria:I'm Victoria. I'm Giovanna. The game's on. Welcome to week two of the game week two of the NFL season. We have just so much to talk about today. So many good games. I feel like a lot of the games we're playing as if it was postseason, not week one. So we are going to be breaking a bunch down for you today on the docket. We have some housekeeping, some thanks to give in the beginning. Then we're introducing a new segment today called Top Five. And Top Five is basically us ranking five things that we want to rank for the week. So could be plays, could be teams could be top five best moments, could be top five hottest men that we saw do something cool a week.

1:05Victoria:So stay tuned each week for whatever our top five will be. So to get into it, I want to give a special shout out to my sister, Brittany, who picked the name of our podcast, because I told her I was going to do this. And we were in the car and she's like, you should just call it the game. And I was like, duh, why would I think about calling it anything else? So thank you, Brittany for coming up with the name of our show and our catchphrase, The Game's On. So when you hear that, just know it's my sister. And I asked her if she had an Amazon wishlist for her classroom because she's a teacher and she doesn't currently have one.

1:40Victoria:She's at a really great school, which has a lot of support. But she said, just support your teachers everywhere. If you have a teacher friend with an Amazon wishlist, go clear it out. Support your public school teachers. And that is our PSA from my awesome sister, Brittany. I love that. I know. Isn't it so sweet? So sweet. Thank you, Brittany. If you're participating in Living in a Fantasy, we are announcing the week one winners. So we have two parts to the league, 106 total leagues. We have a one flex spot champion and a two flex spot champion because 48 leagues are one flex and 58 are two flex.

2:20Victoria:So in our one flex leagues, Saks in the City, Sarah Swift. Good name. Good name, Sarah Swift. 165.92 points. And she is in the league. They CD rolling. I love that one. 165 points. Good for her. I know. Go off, Sarah. absolutely crushed it. And then in the two flex league, it's us, the game, the game, the podcast. Let's go, baby. From the league, Brock, you like a hurricane and total points 187.66. We'll be updating you on a week winners and overall winners for the league. We'll be giving out prizes throughout the season and we're working on like a losing prize so that even if you're not the winning team, you can maybe lose for best bench or most bench points or most mid team throughout the season.

3:27Victoria:So if you have a really good idea for that, let us know. And we're tracking the stats for everything all season long. And if your team, frankly, just blows, then it's still fun for you. If your team just blows, then I guess you can still have fun. Like if stuff is really bad, there's only something to laugh about. Like yourself. Like yourself. Or free merch that we send you in the mail. All right. So because so many of us are in the Living in a Fantasy Girls Only Fantasy League and so many other listeners play fantasy, let's start out talking about fantasy going into week two. So Giovanna, you are our resident fantasy expert.

4:01So if your team sucked

4:04Victoria:week one, what do you do? Yeah, the best advice, guys, if your team sucked week one, listen, there's a lot of movement around the league right now with injuries and things like that. So hitting those waivers and adding some players to your team is going to be a big key. There's going to be a whole article about some great priority ads, some players to stash that'll be coming out. So you don't have to worry about that. You can find that on our sub stack to look at that for all of our waivers. But if you're in the position like I'm in, we're in this thing, other girlies, don't worry. I drafted George Kittle very high this fantasy season.

4:39Victoria:I drafted him confidently in so many leagues. You know what? This was one of those things where, first of all, the 49ers are cursed because if you look at their team, decimated by injuries. Just, I mean, Jawan Jennings is dead. Ricky Pearsall is quite literally carrying the torch for that whole team and man just got shot. It's a lot. But yes, if you have George Kittle, don't panic because there's some really good tight ends that are probably in your waivers right now. I'm talking about Britton Strain, Strange, Zach Ertz. Go in your fantasy white wires and pick up some really good tight ends. I'm looking at Hunter Henry this week.

5:19He's playing the Dolphins. Hunter Henry is a tight end for the New England Patriots. He's coming off of a decent game. But Miami Dolphins, I don't know if y 'all watched that game this past week, but Tua is not two-ing so hot. Did you like that? I like that. But yes, so Hunter Henry matchup against the Dolphins. I think he's going to do really good. Speaking of the Dolphins, another former Dolphins tight end, John Newsmith. He is now on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Steelers. The Steelers will be facing off against the Seahawks this week for week two. He is a good tight end pickup as well. Dalton Schultz is good for the Texans.

5:59So don't worry, girls, even though George Kittle might be out for a little bit, you have some options in the waivers that will still get you a good six to 10 points, and that should be a good enough buffer for a tight end position.

6:10Victoria:Yeah. So if you're looking for those picks, well, they'll be on our sub stack. So if you're subscribed to that, you'll get a little notification, but otherwise I'll link it in the show notes so you can just go and check out those waiver picks from Giovanna. Definitely don't panic week one. It's so easy to be like, this fantasy is doomed because you don't know when your friend's top player is going to go out. So stay strong, pick the best player that you possibly can. And just, I don't know, believe in yourself. Believe in your fake team that you made up. You never know what could happen. We're all just living in a fantasy.

6:42Victoria:I have an update for you that I'm so excited about. So you know how last week I told you that there was a girl who drafted only cats and dolphins. Yeah, I got her lineup. So there's a girl, Jojo, who's helping us out with some back end fantasy stuff that I'm hoping to like debut next week. We'll kind of see how it goes. But we've been chatting and it's her friend. And so the girl's name is Lauren Mock. Also, she goes by Lo. Her Instagram is lolomo16. And she drafted only players on cat and dolphin team. So I figured I would read you her lineup that she won with last year. And she won? She won her league with this Cats and Dolphins lineup.

7:26Victoria:This is insane. That's insane. Yeah. So starting off quarterback Joe Burrow. So on the Bengals, then we go to the Lions. We have Amon Ross St. Brown, T. Higgins, Brian Thomas Jr., Devon A-Chain, Chase Brown. That's already a stacked lineup though like honestly yeah chuba hubbard david montgomery jaylen waddle jared goff sam laporta jaylen uh coker cocker and then detroit defense and she won her league i mean yeah i can see why that team is literally stacked i wonder i'm glad she got away with it because a lot of those players especially last year like chase brown went off last year yeah yeah she killed it i mean i feel like it was a stroke of luck, but also was it?

8:14No.

8:15Victoria:Like she picked good teams to pick from. Like she picked good animals to pick from. So yeah, like, well, dolphins, we can't say so much now, but the cat side of things. Yeah. I mean, but it was last year, you know, this wouldn't have been a good pick for this year, but for last year. It's amazing. Rocked. Rocked. Yeah. So I thought I would give you the update that she did in fact win. I love that. Yeah. So, well, great job. Thanks for giving us content for our show. We love you for it. And go follow her on Instagram, lolomo16. This year she has number 22, number 13, ex-boyfriends, and the name Taylor or lyrics.

8:53Victoria:So very Taylor-inspired lineup. We'll keep you posted at the end of the season if she won and who the lineup was. She is, like, kind of a genius for doing that. I don't know if I have, like, the brainpower to, like, go through and find all those things. Yeah. But I love that for her. I do, too. I feel like with ChatGPT, you can be a little bit more creative now because it just takes a little bit less effort. But, yeah, she went off. I think that we should get into our top five where we're talking about who got fined$57 ,222 this week. Let's do it. Top five. We're doing top five most memorable moments from week one because there's just so much to talk about.

9:32There is so much to talk about. And speaking of that fine, you know, it's honestly interesting. So spit gate or I'm going to call it spit gate because I like calling it spit gate. So people are claiming, if you haven't seen this, Dak Prescott reportedly spit spat spat reportedly spat first on defensive tackle Jalen Carter for the Eagles. This was during the season opener Thursday night football game. Really big deal. However, the only thing that was really showed or like the big problem was Jalen Carter for the Eagles literally like disrespectfully spitting on Dak Prescott. There was a huge thing after the game ended.

10:10I know there was like some press conferences with the both of them. They were like, you know, it happens. Most of you got the best of you, whatever we move on, whatever. But the NFL decided that, you know, you're going to have that fine. And so now Jalen Carter will have to pay$37 ,000 because he spat on Dak Prescott, which is kind of funny when you think about it.

10:29Victoria:Yeah, we broke down some of the like discourse and some of the details in last week's episode. So if you want a little bit of a deeper dive, go to last week's episode. But I think it was the deck spat in the direction like on the ground. And Jalen was like, are you trying to spit on me? And then it was an ego thing. It's an ego thing. Yeah, I do think it's crazy. If you guys watch any of Isaac Rochelle's TikToks, he talks a lot about fines and stuff. Yes, yes. I literally saw him and I wanted to ask you about your opinion because I saw a video of him talking about Patrick Mahomes. So we can talk about that later.

11:04Victoria:Oh, because I've seen him make videos about like someone's sock choices and just like really there's a lot of stuff that you can get fined for. And so it's like, oh, well, these players make so much money. But I think that like this fine, I think they made an example out of him. I think that it wouldn't have been so aggressive had it not been the quarterback in such a rivalry. And this rivalry started, I didn't know that much about the rivalry between the Cowboys and the Eagles, but the rivalry started, and I believe it's either 1960 or 1970 when the Cowboys joined the NFL. Like, from the second they popped up, there was a Cowboys-Eagles rivalry because the Cowboys were, like, America's team and Philly's, like, very gritty and, like, grimy and, like, locally raised and, like, Philly is such kind of, like, an intense city.

11:50Victoria:And so it's like the pretty boys from Texas, America's guys versus Philly. And I'm also on record saying that I think that Jalen Hurts should be America's husband because I think that he just like is such a quality representation and like someone that I would want to represent me. But I didn't realize that the whole rivalry goes back so, so far. And do you know about Terrell Owens? Yeah. I didn't know about Terrell Owens. Oh, he's a hot mess now. Is he really? Yeah, I think his son's trying to get in the league too. I forgot how old he is. Okay, because I recently stalked him on Instagram. And Terrell Owens is like one of the most decorated wide receivers in NFL history.

12:26Victoria:And he played on both the Cowboys and the Eagles at one point. Apparently that caused like a ton of controversy. And he's also someone who's been like fairly controversial off the field. And now if you check his Instagram, he's just like playing pickleball. Fun fact, I actually worked with him very briefly. Like I have his number in my phone. I worked with him. Yeah, I worked with him very briefly for a company I was working with right out of college. And he was going to join this media network, but I don't think it ended up working out because I left as well. But yeah, isn't that crazy? We should interview him.

13:05Yeah, we should.

13:06Victoria:Should we do number two? Yeah, let's go. Number two. All right. This one was funny to me, just really primarily because Joe Flacco got obliterated by this team. But the fact that Trey Hendrickson turned to Daddy Joe Flacco and said, I wouldn't say that Joe Flacco is a crybaby, but there could be an argument from other people that think he is a crybaby. For the people who don't know, why did Trey do the crybaby? Trey Hendrickson reacts to getting called for roughing the passer. So what I believe happened is that Joe kind of flagged the refs and were like, hey, hey, because Trey Hendrickson, who is a defensive end, rushed Joe Flacco in an illegal way.

13:52Victoria:And so that Joe was like, what's up, man? Like refs. And then the refs called roughing the passer. And Trey Hendrickson was like, you, you know what? Like, wah, wah. You're getting rushed. Like, you're a freaking quarterback. What do you think? Yeah. I knew it was like it has something to do with him getting sacked. But yeah, Trey Hendrickson, he plays for the Bengals against Joe Flacco, who's on the Browns. Speaking of, wait, what's his name? Isaac Rochelle. He was talking about this very thing on TikTok about Patrick Mahomes. And it's kind of like a flawed system when it comes like he's roughing the passer calls, which from you look at Miles Garrett, Micah Parsons, Trey Hendrickson, all these like really good pass rushers and defensive ends in the league.

14:33Like they can't necessarily do their job if you're going to have all these stipulations on quarterback play and like roughing the passer. And it's also like if you're coming off the edge and you're have a clear straight shot of the quarterback and let's say the quarterback's right here, you're right here and he throws the ball, but your momentum's already going and you're going to run into them anyway. So it's kind of like, I want to get the roughing the passer call every single time because I can't just upright stop before I get to the quarterback. but yeah that rule is just it's interesting so I don't blame Trey I would say cry baby too

15:06Victoria:yeah it's kind of part of the deal if you're a quarterback you're gonna get hit you're gonna get a hand in your face on this one um we can put the clip of it on social but he's kind of like gets into his face mask a little bit which I think is why Joe was like you know he's like my eyes are getting old like I'm eating my carrots but you gotta you can't get too close to these babies I'm eating my carrots. That is absolutely crazy. Well, I don't know what this guy has been eating, but Tesla. I'm just going to call him Tesla. I think I was actually Good Morning Football was watching and they were like, can we just change his name to Tesla?

15:41Like, that'd be kind of sick. But Isaac Tesla, new wide receivers. And I know you like him because he's on the Lions. New wide receiver for the Lions. Very wide receiver. I picked him up in Fantasy Girls. I stashed him. And obviously his production is going to be really limited because we have him on Ross St. Brown and Jameis Williams on that Lions-eye receiver depth team already. So I don't think he's going to see a lot of production. So when I say this, don't go get Isaac. If you want him, you can get him, but fair warning. But the one-arm touchdown, man's like absolutely, first of all, a dime from Jared Goff too.

16:15But man, just bit back. I mean, the flexibility. yeah like i don't even know can i say that i don't even know if my bat can do it like that but yeah i love him he was really but his story is really inspiring too why do you say that he young yes but there was something around i need to go back and like look at it but i'm pretty sure he like walked in the interviews with um a lion yes on and his name and he was like this is where I want to be. I'm going to play for this team. And I respect the heck out of that because like he knew and boom, his first game, he has a one one arm touchdown. Like, that's amazing.

16:58Victoria:Well, I think there's like a couple incredible things about this because, yeah, so he showed up to his interview with a Lions jersey that he's had for like an extended period of time because he's been a Lions fan like forever. And so he walked in saying, I really want to play for this team, which is also genius of him. Because if you're going in next to an Amon Ross St. Brown, next to a Jamison Williams, who are so incredible, even if you don't play a lot, you're going to be so much better than someone on a team that doesn't have as many good receivers. Like being on the Lions versus being on the Saints right now is crazy for a wide receiver.

17:36Victoria:And no shade to the Saints. Like I love the Saints, but I'm just saying like when you go into a room like that with an experienced quarterback who has the accuracy like that. Your experience is just so different. But then to go in when your team is getting absolutely spanked by their division rivals, who your whole team frankly hates, to go in and be the only lion to score a touchdown the entire game week one, that was the only touchdown they scored, was a rookie wide receiver on a catch that like objectively maybe shouldn't have been made. Yeah. Well, I also have to ask, like, are you OK after the loss?

18:17Like, how are how are we holding?

18:19Victoria:Honestly, that was OK. I am I am a diehard Lions fan. I will go hard for my boys. But watching that game and then watching the Bills Ravens game, I was thinking, how are we in the same league right now? We are playing in different leagues right now. Ravens-Bills was one of the best games I've ever seen in my freaking life. And thinking if the Lions were in that game, it would have been even worse because the Packers ran it up on the Lions. But I think final score is like 27-13. Like, that's not that bad, right? They didn't wash them out. They didn't take them down so hard that it was like an obliteration.

19:02Victoria:And like, we sucked. But I think that if we were in there next to the Ravens, it would have been so much worse. So I think that we have a lot more potential than what we did. I think that everybody in that room is like, we have to get it together. So I don't know what men need to step up this week. I don't know what Dan needs to say. I don't know who Jared Goff needs to push the hell around. But something has to change. Otherwise, we will be a losing team if we play the way we did on Sunday. I think the Lions are phenomenal talent-wise. I think they have the talent to go to the Super Bowl. The only thing that I was worried about this season was obviously the loss of Ben Johnson, which Ben Johnson was the offensive coordinator for the Lions.

19:41He's now the head coach of the Chicago Bears. And that's been really interesting because the Bears played the Vikings Monday Night Football and didn't do that bad. I think they should have won that game.

19:56Victoria:I would say the Bears played well. Yes, but I think the Bears played well because they have Ben Johnson. And I think the lack of Ben Johnson on the Lions is a difference maker. And I think that's why the Lions might not do so. And I was worried about this, but I was like, no, it'll be fine. It'll be fine. But I think the absence of Ben Johnson on the Lions offense was felt tremendously. Definitely felt. Someone said, I wish that the Bears would have gotten absolutely demolished by the Vikings. So Ben Johnson would have gotten immediately fired. He could have gone back to the Lions and peace would be restored.

20:29That's how we would love a lot of things to happen, right? I mean, yeah. Well, and I think, honestly, for Ben Johnson, going to the Bears and saving a franchise and also training up a very young quarterback in the Bears because they have Caleb Williams, I think is going to be more of a career notch for him rather than staying with the Lions. Yeah. Because if he takes the Bears all the way this season to a playoff, then maybe next season to more playoff and Super Bowl, like it's going to be more of like a accolade versus staying with the Lions and you already have a good system around you.

21:00Victoria:Yeah, I think it was the move. I think that if you get a good offer, you have to take a good offer. I think that he wanted to stay within the NFC North, which he did. He had a team. He's now on a team that like has a lot of potential, but hasn't had good leadership. And I think that like the Lions this week is proof that like coaching and leadership actually does matter. So much. It's not about that, like, you can have the most talented team in the NFL. It's an argument for the Cowboys as well. We haven't had the best coaches in the last couple of seasons that are calling plays. And I think the reason why our defense has sucked last season was because we lost our defensive coordinator.

21:33And then our old offensive coordinator is now the head coach for the Saints. It's just like this, like, weird pool. Yeah. It's a hot mess. But I'm really rooting for the Lions. I'm really rooting for the Lions. We'll see how they go. Are we on four? Or, oh, this one is exciting for me because these two, I want to talk about some beef in the NFL. Garrett Wilson and Jalen Ramsey. Also, they're just kind of two angry men. Like, I think football is just a really good release for them. Like, if they didn't play football. It's their perfect outlet. Yes, I would be genuinely worried about their well-being.

22:04Like, football's good. So, all game, I mean, Jalen Ramsey's one of the best defensive players in the league. Garrett Wilson, a decently good wide receiver in the league. Honestly, one of the best, too. but they've been getting into it all game this is Jets and Steelers game all game all game all game and I think the Jets were driving it was like fourth quarter they could have tied the game up or scored Garrett Wilson catches it and Jalen Ramsey just walks in and boom like you could you could hear the hit it was one of those things that you're watching it you can just hear how painful it was and Jalen Ramsey's like on the floor like this Garrett Wilson was out and so I thought it was really funny wait was he actually out no he got up he laid there for a minute though

22:46Victoria:he's just like ded he's not like dead yeah he was like a quick look and then like woke up he's he's he slept him for sure and it's just funny because if you look at the the discourse that the two of them had all game they were fighting all game and then jill and ramsey with that hit just kind of put the icing on the cake. He was like, mess with me one more time. Yeah, literally, literally, he said, I'll let you out. You think you can talk to me like that? I'm a defender. I'm bigger than you. I will let you out. And it. And it. And it. Yeah, those hits are like, those when you're a viewer, you know, it's like all fun and games, and then you see something like that, and you're like, whoa.

23:29Victoria:Yeah. This is very real and very intense and very physical. like dairy people are getting the reason why i will never play football i could not do it i would try but my last one is kind of a funny one because i thought it would be fun to like insert for the girls so i'm watching red zone the victoria and i were like chatting the whole entire weekend they were like watching red zone and then i remember victoria said to me she was like oh when the lion's game is on like i have to watch the lion's game i can't watch anything else but the lion's game and i was like here i had it easy because the cowboy split on thursday so all of sunday i was just locked into red zone that announcer is really funny i need to get his name because he quite literally compared Michael Penix.

24:04Michael Penix is the new quarterback for the Falcons. He compared Michael Penix to Elphaba and said he was defying gravity. And I was like, you know, that's beautiful to just hear. We're watching football, an amazing play, and then we're comparing it to Wicked. Like, come on. Like, that's just beautiful. He was like, defying gravity. Call him Elphaba. Michael Penix into the end zone. It was just awesome. It was awesome. Top five, though, for sure.

24:31Victoria:That is crazy. So did he have a rushing touchdown then? Yes, it was a rushing touchdown. And like, if you, we'll put the play in, but like, if you look at the play, he basically like reaches over and like the ball barely crosses the line. Yeah, but he kind of, he did defy, he kind of did defy gravity. That's so cool. I don't know that much about Michael Penix Jr., but he's on a four-year 22.88 million rookie contract. 13.46 million signing bonus, signed in 2024. Yeah, so total value,$22 ,882 ,000, which is$5 ,720 ,000 per year, which is a pretty good rookie contract. Yeah, I mean, there was a lot of hype with him coming out.

25:15And this is his season to kind of show the world, show the Falcons organization if he can, you know, make some moves because the Falcons have been very quiet. But, you know, they have some, they got some dogs in that team, so.

25:27Victoria:So I think that that announcer definitely has girls, definitely has daughters, because what other man is, you know, making comparisons to Elphaba like that without daughters?

25:44Victoria:oh we're just gonna take a minute to thank our sponsor kuso cuts they are a seasoning brand that has no bs ingredients all clean ingredients no seed oils super bold flavors if you are looking for something quick to make your meal so much better i've been loving using them on the grill but also just in regular cooking. They also have some sauces that you can use, which I made some buffalo chicken a couple weeks back in my air fryer with their sauces and then their buffalo, I mean their spices and then their buffalo sauce. And it was like the perfect game day meal. Their company is amazing. The people who run it are so wonderful.

26:46Victoria:Speaking of dads, the daddies delivered this week. We had three men over 40 just doing their damn jobs. Save a horse, ride a cowboy. Save a horse, ride a cowboy. boy. So let's talk about our daddies. Number one, Matt Prater. Matt Prater is 41 years old. This man has the NFL record for most field goals of 50 plus yards. I didn't even know this man existed, to be totally honest. I didn't know him. I am a newer fan than probably most people listening to the show, which is why I started the show, because I wanted people to talk about football in the way that I wanted to talk about it. Most field goals of 50 plus yards, which is incredible.

27:29Victoria:And if you didn't know, if you didn't watch the Ravens-Bills game, it is worth the highlight reel. Like, totally worth it. This was one of the best games I've ever seen in my life, in any sport. It was just... It was emotional. Super emotional, packed, excellent football on both sides. It was like the chaos of the Bills beating down, what, 16, 15 points with four point something minutes to go and then coming back and winning it the amount of anxiety it gives me that a kicker in one second like is the make or break is insane and the fact that they had like this man with this much experience on their bench it's like you can't make that up no and i think to like your point about like the kicker pressure we saw a lot of games in week one that came down to like the wire like and we were talking about this offline like the browns and bangles game And like the, sorry, but that Browns kicker, like if you don't get cut next week, because it was only one.

28:31It was two missed field goals.

28:34Victoria:And missed the same spot. Yeah, it was bad. Both to the right. I was a gymnast. And if you keep falling to the right, like off the beam, the coaches would be like, try to fall to the left. They're like, do one and just try and fall off on the left. And usually you then like just land on the beam. But I think it's embarrassing to do the same thing two times in a row. And he really did lose the game. I think that had the fumble not happened after that, it would have been 100 % his fault. But I do think that the fumble in the end lost them the chance to come back. And I do think that that is also part of the reason that they lost.

29:11Victoria:And I mean, obviously the kicks did matter, but so many games are won in the last two minutes. Bill's game was won in the last two minutes. Vikings came won in the last two minutes. There was another, the Falcons game, because I'm pretty sure they call him the ice cold coup, Young Ho Ku, the kicker for the Falcons, also missed a field goal that cost him the game. Yeah. And then even like the Saints game, the Saints almost, they had like four good attempts in the last, what, 10 seconds of the game where they almost came back and won it in the last two minutes. So I do think that like confidence matters, flow matters, momentum matters.

29:50Victoria:But if you give up the opportunity to have a two minute drill, then like that's also a reason why you lost, because if you can do a good two minute drill, you can win the game. Yes. But at the same time, like when you look at the point differentials, like that Falcons game and they lost by three points, the Browns game, they lost by what, one point? when you look at that and then you compare that to like those points yet no matter what happened like and those those kicks were like early in the game and so like you think oh if you have that extra point back you would have been tied going into overtime right now so it's just a different it's like a different kind of pressure and like by no means do I think I could get on the field and do at that moment who knows I might go to Pat McAfee and let me do like a college game day kick and win money we'll see but um yeah no that's insane that's it was just bad it was bad yeah Back to Prater.

30:39Victoria:He secured the comeback. So then the Bills won 41 to 40. He is the oldest player on the Bills roster and in team history. Yikes. He has played in the Pro Bowl before. He has stints with the Falcons, Broncos, Lions and Cardinals. He originally signed in 2006 with the Lions to start his career. I don't know when he started, but I guess he's what, like 35 years of football? That's insane. Kicker longevity does make sense, though. Like, you're probably taking one to two hits a season as a kicker. Yeah. You know, maybe if even that. You're not doing anything crazy. Yeah. I do think that it's really cool that he's been in for that long and relied upon for that long.

31:24Victoria:He has a wife and four kids. His wife and his family have run a Lash studio, and they do a lot of work with Operation Underground Railroad, which commits to helping put an end to child trafficking. So they have four kids. They look like just such a sweet family. They're like business people, entrepreneurs, do a lot of charity work. And I just think he has like such good quality dad energy. Like I can't imagine that his presence on this team isn't just like amplifying them to a new level of poise, especially with all of his experience. I don't know. I just love it for him. Like how fun to continue to be so dominant, which I think is what the other daddies are also hoping to do throughout the season.

32:10Victoria:So I'm really excited to see more of Prater. Also, if you haven't seen a photo of him, he's an average guy. On a scale of one to ten. On a scale of average man's, average NFL fan's legs to Derrick Henry, he is negative three. Listen, no shade, but it just really shows you how freaking buff the rest of the NFL players are when you look at this. Like, this man looks like he's wearing tights. It doesn't look like he's wearing, like, leggings, whatever you want to call them, like, pants. He's in some tights out there, twinkling around, kicking the goals. Anyway, I love him. I am a stand for him. I would love—can we get his wife on?

32:53Victoria:Yeah, and the kids. I want to meet her. She's also stunning. Really? She is so gorgeous. Yeah. So he's like punching out of his weight class right now. You know, he's like pretty good looking dude. I got to say. He's pretty good looking dude. He's fit. He's had a 20 year NFL career. Yeah, facts. I mean, he's making yes by summer. I think he's cute. I mean, not in the picture with the tights on, but. Yeah. Do you see like a regular like dad bod picture of him? Like I want to see him on vacation. Yeah. Like if you look at a picture of like him and his family, like they're a super cute family. And he's like, he's like a nice looking guy.

33:23Victoria:He also has a striking resemblance to Nicolas Cage. Yes. Yeah, like a blonde version. Yeah, blonde Nicolas Cage is Prater. I think one of these weeks, probably in the next three weeks, our top five is going to be top five players with the best celebrity lookalikes. And he will be the top of my list. Yes. Okay, moving on. Daddy number two, who's not actually a daddy, but old enough to be one. the man, the myth, the legend, Daddy Rogers. Which I also love that like his name is Mr. Rogers. Like it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Not going to lie, that was before my time.

34:06Victoria:It was before my time too, but I just think that it's funny. So Rogers is interesting to me because I had absolutely no expectations for him going into this season but the fact that he played the way he did play against the team he played i gotta give him some credit i got it was a good game i don't know if he's back he had one i need i need to see at least three consistent good games out of him for me for me to like be on the bandwagon train because it was one game but he played good he played good for a 40 year old ancient man that he is. Okay, so let's talk about his stats from this week. So it was the Jets-Steelers, which was the game that I was looking most forward to, and I am so excited.

34:53Victoria:It lived up to the hype. It wasn't my favorite game of the week, but I did love watching this game. I was so invested. There's just all of the storylines there. Aaron Rodgers is playing for the Steelers. He had 22 completions on 30 attempts for 244 passing yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions, and a 136.7 passer rating. It was good. And one rushing attempt for less than one yard. And now I don't know why they include stuff like that. It's actually kind of funny to me, but I think I saw a stat too. They compared Aaron to Tom Brady. I guess Aaron now has tied Tom Brady for the most games where they've thrown four touchdowns without any interceptions.

35:41Yep.

35:42Victoria:So they tied the record of 28 games. Which is crazy when you think about it. Like, that's kind of crazy. It is crazy. Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. That's... Yeah. Well, it's pretty good. I mean, they're two of the best of all time, like greatest of all time, and we know it. I do hope for his sake that he goes out on a satisfying season to him, whatever that means, because I think the fact that he's stuck it out this long. He came back after his Achilles injury, which is a huge injury. Like even when you're in your twenties, that injury is really, really bad. So I hope that he comes back from this injury, feels good, and then kind of goes out on a season that he's really proud of.

36:21Victoria:I can't imagine him doing another season after this. He just looks a little bit tired. He looked tired two seasons ago. Yeah, but maybe the year of rest prior to the year of plenty. I don't know if that's a thing, but I like it. It can be. We can make it. We'll keep it. he doesn't have any children but he did get secretly married in the off season to an unknown wife which i kind of love i'm curious to see when does it come out who his wife is how are they keeping this a secret like how are you going anywhere like are you only doing private restaurants i mean i guess they have a lot of money so like they just like stands nettle to it yeah or does like the press is is there no paparazzi around which is crazy it's very on brand for Aaron Rodgers like it's a very on-brand thing Graham to do and I remember the very moment it was like a couple of weeks before preseason was or like training camp was starting and he's at a press conference and he gets up to the podium and one of the reporters at the press conference was like is that a ring on your finger he's like yeah I got married next question and everyone's like or we're just gonna glaze over that the fact you got married and he was so nonchalant about it And everyone was like, come on, dude, give us the tea.

37:30We all want the tea. And he didn't give us the tea. You're like, tell us what's up. No, literally. Every other player posts about their engagements and stuff. But, I mean, I get it. Some people don't like doing that. So I understand. Yeah.

37:41Victoria:Yeah. We'll be interested to see. So six starting quarterbacks got married in the offseason. We'll talk about those maybe next week. But on to our final daddy, zaddy, daddy Flacco. Browns, Joe Flacco is back. Oh, thanks, Giovanna. I stole that from you. Every week I'm going to be like we have to do the like little puns. I think it's just so funny. Yeah, we got to keep the puns coming. Daddy Flacco is also 40. He was originally drafted back in 2008 by the Ravens. He has played on so many teams. Actually, we look at his entire history. Ravens, Broncos, Jets, Eagles, Jets, Browns, Colts, Browns. So he's been around the block a couple times.

38:29Victoria:He went to school at Pittsburgh and Delaware, actually. 18th overall pick in the 2008 draft. Holy moly, 2008? How many times has he been on the Browns team? Is this his third time? This is his second time on the Browns. Okay, second. Yeah. And if you forgot, the Browns are the team that had like five quarterbacks going into the season. It kept being a storyline. Boy band. The boy band. The Browns quarterback boy band. He has a Super Bowl under his belt in 2013 with the Ravens. So it has been 12 years since his last— And he's with Brady. With Brady? No, he beat Brady that year in the Super Bowl.

39:14He beat Brady in the I think it was like the AFC championship to go. Wow.

39:18Victoria:I mean, that's a good stat. It's crazy that he so he's only made one Super Bowl appearance ever and he won that Super Bowl. And I kind of love that. I'm very curious to know if he is chasing another Super Bowl. I'm curious about this for all of them. Like what is keeping them in the game this long? I feel like for Joe Flacco, it's one of those things that like they know when you look at it, like he's beaten Brady. He's been to Super Bowl. Not many old veteran quarterbacks can say that. Outside of that, maybe like Aaron Rodgers, but you don't have any like good old vet quarterbacks that are still playing at somewhat of a high level.

39:55The NFL and these teams want to have players like that on their team to be, what do you would call it, a mentor, like role models for these young quarterbacks that they have on their teams. For the Browns, Dylan Gabriel and Chatur, they're looking at Joe right now. So that helps them. So it's interesting to think about, though.

40:14Victoria:Yeah, it is really interesting. Guess how tall Joe Flacco is. And he's like, is he over six foot? Yeah. Like what, 6 '2"? 6 '6". Dang, he's that tall. Why is no one talking about this? So he really is a tall? Okay, daddy. 6 '6", 230. That's hot. That's a good combination. So they have five kids. Five babies later. No, honestly, love that for him. Hannah's wife. Shout out to her. Shout out to her. Something funny about Joe Flacco's apparently his kids tell him that he stinks at football. I saw this. It was like his son. I saw like an interview with him and he was talking about, yeah, my kids tell me I suck.

40:55Like I'll like call them after a game and he'll be like, how did I play? And they'll be like, terrible. I'm like, that is insane. Like imagine your 13 year old is telling your 40, a 40 year old person's been the NFL for a decade and telling them that they suck. That sucks.

41:12Victoria:That does suck. That's sad. I feel like parents, God, teenagers are brutal. If you're a parent of a teenager, bless you. Yeah. You know what's also crazy about this whole thing, though, is that like we're talking about the 40 year olds in this league as being like so old, but like 40 is actually not old at all. like at 40 you have so much time like I can guarantee you I'm gonna be richer hotter and smarter at 40 than I am today at 30 at 40 years old I just want to like retire and travel at 40 yeah I got 20 years to make it happen we'll see we'll know a little less than that but you're like 24 right yeah okay okay yeah I'm 30 and I do believe that like your 30s are the new 20s Really?

42:00Victoria:Yeah. Like, my 20s were crazy. Like, just really intense. And so I'm, like, very excited. Like, I feel like I was made for my 30s. Like, I was made to be here. Yeah. So I'm glad we've arrived. Okay, let's move on. I think we need to talk about a couple of the games that we glazed over some of the games. Talked a little bit about Bills, Ravens. Let's talk about Derrick Henry and Derrick Henry's legs. Insane room. Maybe there's nothing to say. All hail King Henry. All hail King Henry. If you doubted him, if King Henry fell into round two or three in your fantasy leagues, then y 'all need to look inside yourselves because that man is amazing.

42:46Victoria:And then DeAndre Hopkins also had a one-handed catch in the Bills-Ravens game. Yeah. I didn't realize he was 33. He's on a one-year,$5 million deal with the Ravens, which can reach$6 million with incentives. And seven of his years in the NFL are greater than 1 ,000-receiving yard seasons, including a 1 ,500-yard season with the Texans in 2018. And he was on the Chiefs last year, was in for 10 games with 437 total yards. And I think that I didn't see him much last year. Like I didn't really pay much attention to him, but I think that he maybe got underused. And so I love it for him, especially being a player kind of coming up on the older end.

43:35Victoria:And he's also been on, you know, a couple of teams throughout his career, never really had a big stable contract. So I would love to see him just like blow it out of the water. And that, that catch being seen in the future as the statement catch to like put a crazy run towards the end of his career and like get him paid even more and like maybe even just valued the way that he's supposed to be valued like I think he's super undervalued with the way that he can play at the moment so I'm really curious to see how he does on such an incredible Ravens team with Lamar Jackson with an offensive line that can actually block for him create really good opportunities for him because I would say that the Ravens offensive line is better than the Chiefs offensive line was last year.

44:19Victoria:So how, you know, does he have a huge opportunity this year to step into? Yeah, it's interesting because the D-hop, like we know he's cold, like he's been a dog. But I think when you're a wide receiver in this league, I mean, how many wide receivers that we that came out of the draft this past draft and that we're already saying, we'll talk about that a little bit later too, but the talent only gets better and better and better that are coming up from college. So when you have a receiver like D-Hop who's in his 30s, we know he's good. But unfortunately, you're only going to see kind of those one, two-year contract deals because they could easily go draft a guy.

44:56Or if a guy doesn't work out, there's still plenty of other talent. So it's kind of a weird position to be in. But I'm rooting for him. I really hope he does good in Baltimore. I think it's a good fit for him and what kind of player he is. So it should be interesting. I'm hoping for him.

45:13Victoria:Okay, I'm going to make a wild parallel right now, but something that really is driving me nuts with the NFL, like the deeper that I dive into the stats and learning about it and learning about trades and players. I think that the age 30 in the NFL is the equivalent to the age 35 for women getting pregnant. The way that they treat players when they turn 30 is the way that they treat women when you are over 35 having a baby. They're like, you're cooked. You're done. You're geriatric. You need all these extra pills. Your body is failing. It's not going to work. This is dangerous. You need to get wifed up already.

45:50You need to get wifed up.

45:53Victoria:And then the NFL is like, like with Terry McLaurin. I'm pretty sure it's Terry McLaurin. Is Terry McLaurin 30? He's actually 29, but no, you're right, because that was a big thing about his contract. Right, and they're saying he's right on the edge of 30, but then we're talking about players like DeAndre Hopkins, like Joe Flacco, like Aaron Rodgers, all of the daddies in the game. And then Travis Kelsey, he's 35. Jason Kelsey, over 35 when he retired. But for whatever reason, 30 is the age when the media starts to panic about players. Yeah, we know Derrick Henry is 31, too. Yeah, Derrick Henry is 31.

46:33Victoria:So I just love to, like, see the narrative on both sides of that, like the 35-year-old woman pregnancy narrative and the 30-year-old in the NFL narrative. of just like that's a great point let it go like let's just move on and realize that like health care the way that we take care of our bodies the way that we treat our bodies technology modern medicine like a lot different nowadays yeah like all of those things make it so much safer easier and like biologically make more sense than ever before to both be a star nfl player and to like have a kid. And I just like, I can't stop thinking about that parallel since I've like dove more into contracts and stuff.

47:16Victoria:Makes so much sense though. Yeah. Yeah. So, you know, if you're just thinking like, I'm a girl, I'm 34, I don't have a kid yet. Just think, Rihanna's somewhere around 40, about to have her next kid. Everybody's be having babies later. I always just think of like Derrick Henry because every single year they're like, oh, Derrick Henry's old, guys. And then he comes out and has like a 47-yard touchdown to like, yeah, he's old. He's really old. He looks really old out there at 31 years old. Yep. But I also love, though, that like the thing about age, especially coming from a female perspective, is that when they don't have anything else to say negatively about you, they bring up your age.

47:54Victoria:If they can't say she doesn't have a career, she doesn't have money, she's not personable, she can't hold it. Like if they have nothing, like if you are beautiful, smart, have friends, have a career, have your own apartment, have your own car you can talk to people you can be out in public you have a side hustle that's fun you have passions you have hobbies like if the only thing that they can say about you is your age that's how you know you're in a good freaking spot that's how you know if they start bringing up your age then that's how you know they have pretty much nothing else on you yeah and they're jealous and they're just kidding you ain't me sorry sorry you hate me because you ain't me A couple more and then we will close it out for today.

48:35You know what? I will continue to say this. The Raiders might be nasty this year. Obviously, Brock Bowers, I think he's questionable now. Like, I think he got a knee injury in that game. So I hope he's okay because I think that's a big part of the Raiders' offense. But Danny Dimes came to play. He came to play. Obviously, you know, can I be real? Please. There is no way. The day that y 'all honored Jim Irsay, Jim Irsay was the former previous Colts owner. He passed away. Now his three daughters are taking over. One of the three daughters is like more on like the football operations, like is on the field with the headset on.

49:14Like she's very in it. She's like the president, everything. but obviously this game they were honoring Jim Irsay and then the Colts hadn't won a season opener since like the 90s like it was pretty detrimental for a season opener but the day I'll have a brand new quarterback you're honoring Jim Irsay you have three females pretty much leading this team and then Danny Dimes comes out here and throws you can't tell me the NFL is not scripted sometimes. Like that's just too good to be true.

49:45Victoria:I love it. Okay. So we're talking about Colts dolphins, but from last week. Yeah. Where the Colts blew out the dolphins 33 to eight. And I, speaking of women, I'm obsessed with this storyline. Like how stunning. What a beautiful, I mean, it's time for the girls. It's time for the girls. And I love that it's a family legacy. I love that it is a natural progression. I love that it's three girls. I love that they have been involved for an extended period of time. It's not like they're just popping in. And I love that they won. I love that they honored. I just, I mean, the whole thing. It's like such a sweet, sweet story.

50:27Victoria:And I'm so excited to see how they do running the whole operation. Yeah, on the other side of the spectrum, if I were y 'all, I would stay away from any and absolutely any Dolphins player. Maybe Devon A. Chain, the running back, is the exception to that. But I would stay away from any and all Dolphins players. Actually, I was going to put this in my top five. This might be my honorable mention for my moments. Tyreek Hill, absolutely going bonkers on the sidelines. He was pissed during that whole exchange. But I've always said this. Like, Tua, after those concussions, he's never been the same. And I don't think he should be playing.

51:05Something's not right.

51:06Victoria:Do you think you're being a little bit too hard on the Dolphins, though? because we were talking about the Lions who had a trash game week one. So do you think that there's hope for the Dolphins? No, you think Dolphins are just on their downhill? We've already kind of saw it last season. I think what's the difference between the Dolphins and the Lions, the Lions showed promise from last season, and also the Lions are figuring their ish out because they just lost one of the best defensive coordinators in the league. For the Dolphins, McDonald is very, he's a player's coach. He's like very laid back in a sense.

51:39And then when you have players like Tyreek Hill, who's the freaking fastest receiver in the league, he might not be still, I don't know. But he's one of them. Yeah, one of them. And then you have a team around you, but that was bad. Like, it was just the way they were playing. Like, it wasn't like a matter of like the team that you're playing had a really good defense. Because let's be honest, the Colts don't have an amazing team either. But it was like self-inflicted mistakes. Just Tua could not throw the ball, get it in the hands of the receiver. And he has a really good one-two punch with Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddell.

52:09So, yeah, I don't have too high hope for the Dolphins. I'm not going to cap it to you.

52:15Victoria:Yeah, and it'll be interesting to see are the Colts making a name for themselves, even though they've been a little sleepy the last couple years. So they've been winless in a season opener, the Colts, in the last 11 seasons until last weekend. Indianapolis beat the Raiders in 2013 was the last win. and that it's been almost 4 ,400 days since the Colts last won a week one game. Isn't that crazy? That's what I'm like. It's just it's a little it's a little too perfect for me. But hey, I'll give it to him. I'll give it to him. Any closing closing thoughts, games you're looking forward to, things you want to see?

52:54Yeah, I mean, I would just say this. I am going to start doing a little bit of rookie stands out weeks a week. and then hopefully I can guess the offensive and defensive rookie of the year because we're doing this but I am I was already high on him Emeka Ibuka I it's funny because I was telling somebody else this I was like peekaboo it's Emeka Ibuka like peekabuka anyways he's a dog actually he's a wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers he finished with 23 fantasy points 23 fantasy points as a rookie guy receiver is phenomenal like most your wide receiver ones are getting 20 20 points he had two touchdowns uh four out of six receptions and then 76 total yards the two touchdowns are really kind of the make for a mecca um that's why he had 23 points so he's a dog my audible mention for this is jacore crosskey merit aka bill he says like his name is so difficult that he was like just call me a bill.

53:54I think this happened in college. But running back for the Washington Commanders, here's why he's impactful. If he's not snagged in your leagues, go get him right, right now. Austin Eckler, the running back one for the Commanders, is injured. So this man is now going to be taking over the backfield. We already saw him do some really good things last game. He finished with like, I think he finished with double digits too. He had a touchdown, 82 yards, but he's taking over that number one spot and he's a dog. So Ja 'Cory, Krosky, Merritt, aka Bill, go Stashman Fantasy. Honorable mention as my rookie standouts for the week.

54:32Amazing. Cool. I love those two.

54:33Victoria:Make sure that you come back and listen on Friday for Allie Ridgway. She is the wife of John Ridgway on the Saints. We talk a lot about behind the scenes, NFL amenities, things that they get from the league, how it works moving, how is she liking New Orleans, all the good things. It's a really, I learned so much. So it's a really good conversation. So come back on Friday. Do you want to play a game? Yeah, always. Okay. I was thinking about this while I was driving today. I want to name every NFL team and I want you to give me one word on what you're thinking about them going into week two. Okay.

55:10Victoria:Do you love it or hate it? Because we don't have to do it. No, I love it. I love it. It's going to challenge me. Are you ready? Yes. Commanders. Optimistic. Packers. Much as it hurts me to say this. Dogs. I knew you were going to say that. Giants. Jackson Dart. That's my one word. Cowboys. Surprising. Yep. Seahawks. Underwhelming. Steelers. Hot. They are kind of on fire right now. Rams. Challengers. Titans. Undecided. Bills. Dogs. Jets. Exciting. Because I really like Justin Fields. I know. I was going to say Fieldsy Poo. Fieldsy Poo. If Fields is in your waivers, go grab him. He's going to get you them rushing touchdowns all day long.

55:46Patriots. Meh. Dolphins. Terrible. Jags. Trevor. Bengals. Crybaby.

55:52Victoria:49ers. Injuries. Saints. Bad. I don't think they're as bad as we thought they were going to be. Well, okay, no. Spencer Rattler actually played better than I thought, but I just don't have hope for them. Kellen Moore, their head coach for the Saints, he came from the Cowboys. Well, Eagles first and then Cowboys. I don't know. Browns. Shader. Ravens. Oh, hell, King Henry. That was multiple words about how to say that. Bears. Ben Johnson. Lions. No. We'll see. Broncos. Oof. I actually like the Broncos. Hopeful. Colts. Dimes. Okay, let's go speed round. We've got eight to go. Panthers. Move on. Next.

56:30Cardinals. Oh, they're going to be good this year. Eagles. Super Bowl champs. Chiefs. Taylor Swift. Falcons. Elphaba. Vikings. Disappointing.

56:40Victoria:Interesting. Buccaneers. Emeka. Abuku. Texans. Meh. Chargers. Meh. Raiders. Go Raiders! That's what I was waiting on. Excited. Very, very, very excited. Okay.
