Key claims
- 49ers may be “end of an era” due to injuries (Kittle, Juwan Jennings, Brock Purdy with toe and shoulder injuries); backup Brock Purdy’s backup Mack Jones threw 279 yards/3 TD in Week 2.
- Bengals: Joe Burrow out with turf toe; expect uncertainty for Jamar Chase/Chase Brown with Jake Browning starting (Browning had 241 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT in the discussed game).
- Chiefs: 0-2 and “teams aren’t scared anymore,” with issues like poor run game and costly turnovers (Travis Kelce end-zone drop/INT).
- Lions: dominant Week 2 win over Bears (21-52); Ben Johnson booed at homecoming but Lions’ offense showed diversity and aggression.
- Jaden Daniels’ injury (knee/ankle mentioned) could impact Commanders’ momentum.
Notable examples
- Colts-Broncos: Spencer Schrader misses 60-yard FG, then “leverage” penalty leads to replay; Colts win.
- Panthers-Cardinals: Cardinals lead 27-3; Panthers score, recover an onside kick, but fail to finish late.
- Eagles “tush push” false-start controversy discussed.

Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:22I'm Victoria. I'm Giovanna. The game's on. Whoop, whoop. Welcome back to another week of your new favorite NFL-based podcast, The Game. We are so excited to chat with you today, hang out, yap a little ball. Today, we're getting into top five season changers from week two. We're going to do a little yap and recap, recapping our favorite games, talk about some of the fourth quarter chaos that happened in week two. and then we're going to talk about weak winners from living in a fantasy fantasy football league which I actually have a confession about which I haven't been sure that I would have wanted to tell everyone this but a couple girls have been dming me like oh my gosh like we're in the same league in fantasy and I don't think I disclosed that I'm actually in every league so I'm actually in 109 fantasy football leagues at the moment.
1:27No, I'm in 110. Two are throwaway. One from a little show that Giamon and I did together. One that's like a TikTok league with a bunch of girls I don't know from another friend. And then two personal leagues that I have like buy-ins and then 106 from living in a fantasy. So if you say like, oh my gosh, we're in the same league like we are and I love you and I'm so happy to be there but also I am in 106 others or 100 whatever 10 others so if I don't get back to your trade request right away it's not you it's me it's me it's not you it's not you it's never you you just have to share the love though so it's okay you everyone gets Victoria in their fantasy football yeah I'm gonna be trying to blow up the chats a little bit more this week too and just get a little chattier in there and now that things of kind of like dust has kind of settled.
2:16Speaking of the chat, though, in fantasy, the one league that I'm in for living in a fantasy, I had to laugh because last night during the Monday Night Football Doubleheader, one of the girls put Joe Burrow on the trade block, which we'll get into Joe Burrow and things later in the episode. But one of the girls put Joe Burrow on the trade block and it notifies you in the chat. And another girl was like, putting Joe Burrow on the trade block is crazy. I just had to laugh because I wouldn't put Joe Burrow on the trade block, even though he's injured. He's going to miss three months, which is kind of a lot but she gotta do what she gotta do I don't blame her but you know you'd sometimes you do like I had to give up Rashi Rice last week in two weeks because I needed someone else and I was like I can't give up these other great players that I know I'm gonna need and Rashi Rice just isn't back yet so that felt chaotic but like sometimes you have to do what you gotta do sometimes you have like five minutes till the game starts and it's your only option and you need a new QB, you know?
3:12Yeah. It is what it is. Also, I can't appreciate a risk. I'm pretty sure Rishi's on him, like, what, two out of five or two out of six of weeks? So he's about to be back. And, like, the likelihood of people picking him up while he's still suspended, maybe not very high, unless you just, like, really want that person. But also, if Rashi Rice is available and you have room on your roster, definitely get him. Grab him. Like, if you have room on your roster, grab Rashi Rice, especially if you get to like, yeah, week four or five, like check in for Rashi Rice for fantasy because he'll put up some points, especially he's so young and like so fiery and coming off of a suspension.
3:55Like I can't imagine he'll like do something good, especially because the Chiefs, who we're also going to talk about later, are struggling. Yeah. And like he's, he also, he has a chip on his shoulder because he missed like half of the season last season. So missed half of the season last season and then missed the beginning of this season. That man's going to come back and be better than ever. I'm sure. It's like when you're a kid and you're grounded, you're like in your room for like whatever, two hours. And when you come out, you're like ready to rock and roll. You're like, where's Johnny down the block?
4:27Me and Rose are going to go buy some glitter at Rite Aid. Let's go. Let me get this straight. So we're going to have like a whole new thing called Victoria's Comparisons because last week it was the comparison between like the woman's age. And now this week, it's a comparison between players coming out of suspension comparing to when kids get out of being grounded. No, I'm here for it. I love it. So many. They'll keep coming. Like it's part of my personality. An unlikely comparison that works very well. No, it's honestly, it's a talent because I can't do that. Off the Dome too? Proud of you. Yeah, you know, I'm pretty witty up here.
5:05So let's get into our show. So top five, we introduced top five last week. But if you didn't listen to last week, top five is basically where we talk about the top five of anything that we want. And this week, we decided to do top five season changers from week two because there were a lot of very pivotal moments going into week two. So just TLDR, we're going to go 49ers, Joe Burrow, Lions, Bears, Jaden Daniels as our top five season changers. Let's start out. 49ers. Man, you know, the 49ers historically are a really good organization. And I think it might be the end of an era. And I want to start right, Brock Purdy, because the 49ers, the season has just been it's over.
5:56Like the injuries decimated. First, it was George Kittle. Then you have Juwan Jennings. Now, Brock Purdy, who I might add, has two different injuries. At first, I thought it was just a shoulder. But I go and research it. It's a toe and a shoulder. Obviously, Brock Purdy is Mr. Irrelevant. If you don't know what Mr. Irrelevant is, that means Mr. Irrelevant is basically the last pick of the draft. So Brock Purdy got drafted, I believe, in 2022. Yes, 2022. That makes him Mr. Irrelevant. Then he earns a starting quarterback job for the 49ers, which honestly is a feat that most people can't even say.
6:31So shout out to him. Wait, you said Brock Brady was the last pick of the draft? Yes, that's why they call him Mr. Irrelevant. In 2022, he was the last pick of the draft. I did not know that about him. Yeah, so him being last pick of the draft and then now having a starting quarterback spot for, what, like three years now? That's a lot. Like, that's a really good thing to have. But because of how those 49ers offenses operated, I think it might be the end of the era. And I think it might be time for the 49ers to move on. And I like Brock Purdy. I really do. But it might be time for them to move on.
7:06Interesting. I wouldn't have maybe thought of that, that maybe it's time for them to move on. I do. My favorite story about Brock Purdy, though, is that when he was on the team and became the starting quarterback, he was still on his rookie deal, which being the last pick of the draft was not that good. So we have like other roommates living in San Francisco and is the starting quarterback for the 49ers and like can't even pay rent. And then you have like other people and whatever 60 mil a year. And Brock Purdy has like some crappy apartment in San Francisco with like roaches and three roommates.
7:41I don't know if it was that bad, but it's just little too fun. I hope it wasn't that bad. I mean, imagine like coming home. Like imagine if you're his roommates and like Brock comes home after a big win. And you're like, hey, that was and they have nothing to do with football. Like they're not even players like they're just regular guys. Wait, I think they were players, though. OK, OK, that makes sense. Even so, like if you have friends on the practice squad. And so then your guys are just like hanging out, like chilling. And you just won a game against the Eagles. Like, yeah, like that's insane.
8:16But his backup, so Brock Purdy's backup, Mack Jones, came in, took over the position, and he threw for 279 passing yards and had three touchdowns in Week 2, which, not terrible for a backup quarterback. Not terrible. terrible yeah yeah i do think it's so sad that the 49ers are so injury-ridden and i feel like the 49ers are one of the teams to me that they're always good in my head but then if you actually look on paper like they're really not that good and i feel like debo leaving the 49ers didn't get talked about enough i feel like that was a really big loss for them even if it wasn't like working.
8:57Yeah. Do you not agree? Well, I think Debo in his last years with the 49ers because of CMC, I just think it wasn't working. And I think now, especially with the Terry McLaurin situation on the commanders, Terry McLaurin's wide receiver for the Washington commanders, Debo has seen a lot of production on that offense, obviously, and partly due to Scary Terry having the holdout situation. So a lot of these first few weeks is repping up for Terry on that offense. But I think Debo with the Commanders is a much better fit for him in this period of time versus if he stayed with the 49ers. Yeah, I think Debo, for Debo's sake, the Commanders, I mean, his fantasy points have been like through the roof.
9:45Like he's getting opportunities. He's like playing as the player that he is, not like where is San Francisco? he's there because of his potential and now he's able to like actually meet his potential at the commanders but i do think that like if the 49ers could have utilized him more effectively and used him in the capacity he's being used now they would be in better shape than they are now so i think it was a loss for the 49ers you know partially on their part it's i think it was the organization's fault. I mean, I don't necessarily want to place blame on anyone, but like the organization's fault for not using him effectively enough.
10:25And then the commanders were like, we can do better. And now they are. And so I feel like for Debo's sake, like, this is awesome. 1000%. And to Fantasy's point, like you brought up earlier, he had 22.6 points in week one against the Giants. And then coming off of Green Bay, which Green Bay, their defense is a Super Bowl caliber defense with the addition of Micah Parsons. Like any team that plays Green Bay this year, watch out. You are going to have to work your butts off to beat this defense. But he had 17.4 points against Green Bay's defense in Week 2. So I agree. Definitely a win for Debo. Yeah.
11:04I do feel like on the Green Bay note, I know we're not talking about them. But, okay, first of all, this has been in my back pocket all week. Okay, I'm a Lions fan Everyone knows Okay, I'm a Lions fan I want the Lions to go to the Super Bowl I believe the Lions can go to the Super Bowl I believe that the Lions are a better team than the Packers That's what I believe However If Green Bay If Jordan Love somehow became a Super Bowl quarterback Which I don't think he is I don't think that he could be The Ravens, the Lions. Like, I don't think it's about, okay, whatever. Anyway, moving on. If they make it, it's the perfect Super Bowl party theme for the girls because bread and cheese, sourdough bread and cheese, charcuterie party, wine from Napa.
12:09Are you kidding? It was a cheese and bread for me. it was the cheese and bread for me so the only reason why we want them to be in the super bowl is so we can have a theme party i'm just kidding no but like not really yeah that's that's my that's my like it's like not even a real reason it's a 0.25 but i'm just saying very iconic sourdough bread from san francisco bread and cheese and wine and taylor swift playing halftime It's time for the girls. I've been saying it. That's why we're here. It's time for the freaking girls. Okay. Okay. I think we're good with 49ers. They're a little bit of a sad story.
12:48Sorry to start out on a bummer. They'll be fine. Okay. Joe Burrow. It's cold. It's getting real cold. Getting real cold for Joe Burrow and the Bengals. Hey, but wait. I have a really good stat. Are you ready? Are you ready? Yeah. Okay. Joe Burrow, out of turf toe, quarterback for the Bengals. Obviously, this Bengals offense is really, really electric with Joe Burrow on the field because you have Jamar Chase. And we all know Jamar Chase. If he didn't go top three in your fantasy draft, then y 'all are weird. But Jamar Chase, not only Jamar Chase, but you also have Chase Brown. Jamar Chase Brown, you know, the same last names.
13:26Anyways, so the fantasy implications for Jamar Chase and Chase Brown have been a little bit of a hot button item and a hot, like, controversial thing. However, the backup quarterback that is going to be taking over Joe Burrow's place, his name is Jake Browning. In weeks 12 through 18 in 2023, Jamar Chase with Browning at quarterback only had five receptions, 63 yards and one total touchdown. That was in weeks 12 through 18 in 2023. So people are a little scared. However, he didn't play bad when he took over for Joe Burrow in this last game. I need to fact check my stats. But I don't think people need to panic too much about Jamar Chase and Chase Brown until we have actual tape to view from Jake Browning.
14:19I think he honestly has a lot of expectations placed on him. And I'm hoping he rises to the occasion and doesn't fall. So we'll see. What are your thoughts on Joe Burrow and his injuries? First of all, turf toe is an ick. Why is it an ick? Because, like, get a hotter injury. Get a hotter— Okay, what's, like, the hottest injury? That's a crazy thing to ask. I mean, I had to ask. Okay, but out of all of the— Okay, okay. Out of all of the injuries, like, okay, a concussion is too serious to be an ick. Like, a concussion is very serious, and it's obviously a big issue in the NFL. else like we can't even go there but like the hottest injury is an injury that you can come back from quickly it's giving like a shoulder yeah sort of jacket for life though you get a man with a shoulder injury you're gonna be like 80 like having to put on his shirt for him okay so all injuries aren't hot okay there's no hot injury but turf toe specifically like why do we have to call it that why can't we just say like okay so what turf toe is so you bend your big toe back too far, then the ligaments on the bottom of your foot overstress or can tear.
15:36And so that's what Joe Burrow has, which actually sounds so painful. And you don't realize how much you need your big toe until you need it, until it's injured. So the injury is like actually kind of intense. Joe going out, like this definitely is a bigger surgery. And I just don't think like turf toe, I think we just need to rename it. What would you rename it to? Like, honestly, why do they call it turf toe? Because turf toe sounds like athlete's foot in my brain. I think it's just called turf toe because it's a big football injury. And so a lot of football players or soccer players who play on turf get it.
16:14Makes sense. Yeah, so I think it's like a huge bummer if you are a scientist. Turf toe is a sprain of the ligaments and capsule around the big toe joint, the metatarsophalangeal joint, MTP joint, caused by forceful hyperextension, especially on artificial turf, which can make the foot stick. So it's kind of like any... What? That was deep. Like we just got real deep on this podcast. We give the girls the facts. Come to the game podcast not only for NFL facts, but to learn about your body. Anatomy. I've been to multiple podiatrists. I know what I'm talking about. Okay. Anyway, I think it's so sad because I feel like Joe Burrow had also an exceptional amount of hype.
17:01I think that people had really big expectations. I think that Bengals fans felt really, really excited, especially having Jamar Chase and Chase Brown. I'm less worried about Chase Brown because running backs, I feel like if your quarterback isn't great, you have more opportunities because handing off is objectively a little bit easier If your offense is in the right position, you can hand off the ball versus being a wide receiver. Your options, if, you know, Browning can't convert, then that opportunity kind of goes down, which we kind of saw yesterday as well with J.J. McCarthy and Justin Jefferson.
17:40Like, Justin Jefferson is one of the best, if not the best, receiver in the league, and they couldn't connect. So I think that like running backs, Chase Brown might be in a little bit better position than Jamar Chase on the Bengals. But I do think it's really devastating. Browning is 29. So I kind of do like an older player stepping in versus a younger player stepping in. And I think that you're going to hear me say this like every single week. But I do think that maturity in the league matters. Just kind of like in anything, like experience, just being on the field, being in the locker room. hearing, watching, observing.
18:19If you're kept as a backup quarterback, like there is something good to you. And I think we often think like, oh, the quarterback's the number one guy. Like any backup quarterback just isn't that good, which I just think that that's like an invalid argument. I think it's like an overgeneralization. So, you know, I think he did a good job the other day. I'm interested to see how he does. And I hope that his maturity in the game benefits him in the long run. And I mean, I think that they have, you know, a decent team. Otherwise, like people were saying that they were going to go to the playoffs kind of surefire.
18:50Yeah, I think I did find it. He finished, Browding finished with 241 passing yards, had two touchdowns, but also had three interceptions. So definitely a situation to watch. The last thing I will say about this Bengals team and Joe Burrow specifically, Joe Burrow has a history of injuries. Like he had a wrist injury. I think they had a leg injury at one point. And obviously in college, he had some injuries. So I think it's going to be really interesting to see not only his bounce back and his comeback later in the season, but what does this mean for the Bengals organization moving forward? They know this quarterback, who is a really good quarterback and has the potential of taking this team to a Super Bowl, but he is injury-prone.
19:32And so what does that mean for Jamar Chase? What does that mean for the future of this organization? Thinking way down the line, but it's a valid argument. Yeah, that makes me feel really sad. Right? because I feel like this injury is like a silly little injury. Yeah. You know, like it's something that like no amount of, sometimes when I see injuries in the NFL, so I'm a personal trainer and I've been a personal trainer for seven-ish years and I was also a gymnast for 20 before that. And so I've seen like a lot of physical therapists. I know a lot about the body. Like it's very interesting to me.
20:10And I'm always curious about training protocol. and preparing the body for hits like this. And so I feel like this injury feels especially sad to me because no amount of quality training and preparation could have avoided this injury. And many injuries are like that, but there are also some that are outliers and aren't, could have been prepared for differently. So I don't know, that feels sad to me to be like, he's injury prone and this injury is getting lumped into that, the same as like a leg or whatever. So I don't know. I don't want to clump Joe Burrow in there like injury prone. Are we going to replace him just yet?
20:50But I am excited to see him maybe also even just sideline Coach Up Browning and see like what can they make happen. Hopefully there's no more three interception games because that is just excruciating. Yeah, I mean, I don't know. I think Jamar Chase finished, I think he finished with like 35 or 36 points in fantasy still. So there might not be too much worry. But to your point, I think for Browning and Burrow, two Bs, them kind of Burrow coaching him would be something really also cool to see. Yeah. I also don't know why I always assume, like I'm like, oh, well, if the quarterback's like older, they're going to be like, I assume that they're like a really good person and that they want to like, coach up their backups, which, like, I'm just assuming.
21:38Like, I don't know, but I do, like, maybe it's just, like, me seeing the best in people. It's just like, oh, well, now's their opportunity to, like, step up and be a leader. I've, like, noticed myself saying that, like, a hundred times in three weeks. Well, I think that's, like, a script. Like, that's a script around the league and a lot of these organizations. Yeah, that's true. I've been conditioned by the NFL. She's been very watched. Oh, God, who am I? We got her. I'm still wearing a sparkly shirt I'm still a girl Okay Okay Speaking of interceptions Let's talk about the Chiefs Because Travis Kelsey Had a pretty detrimental Missed catch off the hands Gets picked off by the Eagles In the end zone Turns over the game The Chiefs are 0-2 For the first time since what?
22:24You said 2000 2014 2014 I was 13 years old in 2014 That's a long time ago. Yeah. Yeah, I was a freshman in college. I think for the Chiefs, and it's funny because I was actually watching a couple people talk about this on YouTube. And it was kind of like this feeling for the Chiefs that teams aren't scared of them anymore. And that alone is a scary statement to say because I feel like the Chiefs, like when you say the Chiefs, you're like, oh, the Chiefs. And now it doesn't have that, like, it's lackluster. Like, the organization is lackluster now, and their play is very much lackluster. Yes, they have had some injuries.
23:09They also have, like, Xavier Worthy and Rashi Rice out. So that's a big part of their gameplay. But their running game is terrible right now. They have to get Isaiah Pacheco going, who's, I think, pretty much RB1. And Isaiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, those are like the two guys for the Chiefs backfield. And their run game has just been non-existent. I think you're so right with teams aren't scared of them anymore. And I do partially think that began when the Lions beat the Chiefs coming off of the Super Bowl. What was that, two years ago? And so the Chiefs came out of the Super Bowl. The Lions were like kind of on their come up.
23:50And it was the first game of the season. and the Lions beat them. And then that's kind of been like the turning point, at least that I've seen for the Chiefs. Essentially, like, if you're a Chiefs fan, don't hate me, but downfall. And I do think one thing that's interesting, though, is that the media and everyone talking about the Chiefs, we are talking about them as they're like not as dominant or people aren't scared of them, but they still only lost by three. They did what the Chiefs do, which is like start mediocrely, start as any average team in the league. It truly, as an athlete from like an athletic mind, is so impressive to watch them flip the switch.
24:32Like, I don't know what programming they have in their head or like what their go word is. But I feel like in every game, no matter, even if they do lose, there's a moment within the entire, it's like a wiring where they like flip a light switch and become a different team. Yeah. I would agree with that. And to that point, a lot of their games, there's actually a stat and I forgot the exact measurement. I think it was like the Chiefs last 17 games were won by one score. And so to go 0-2, and I'm pretty sure the last two games have been one score games to go 0-2. That's kind of why a lot of people are saying they've kind of lost that magic is because the Chiefs are very much hardwired to win games that are very close.
25:19And then to go 0-2 by games that you lost that are still very close is just not looking too good. Yeah, I do think also watching them. I said this about the Lions last week that like watching the Lions in the game week one didn't look like a team that could compete against a Ravens or Bills. and I think that the Chiefs are someone who like, I mean, they just competed against the Eagles, but they just don't look as dominant on the field. If you had no idea about football and you watched them, you wouldn't currently pin them to have gone for a three-peat just recently. So I also love that still nobody's talking about the Eagles.
26:04Like the only people talking about the Eagles are the Eagles and the Eagles fans. And the Eagles are just chilling. They're doing their effing job. That's hot. You know, okay, so I actually have to mention this for the Eagles. I think there was some beef with Chris Jones, who is a defensive player for the Chiefs, and Jalen Hurts, who is the quarterback for the Eagles. There was some talk during a couple of plays when they were lining up, and so there were some choice words being exchanged, which I thought was interesting. But, I mean, it's Chiefs-Eagles. I was trying to say Cowboys. It's Chiefs-Eagles, so obviously a heated matchup there.
26:34but a little bit of a side note for this game the tush push we talked a little about the tush push last week but there was a lot of different plays in which the eagles are in a tush push and if you go back and look at the tape a lot of the o-linemen had a false start and like started early and so now there's a big conversation around a tush push even bigger than it already was because some people think it's a little unfair i think if you can you better push that tush get on the goal line i'm cool with it. But when you false start and it's very, very clear when you watch a tape back, then that's when it gets a little unfair.
27:10And I think that costs them some big plays too. So that's really interesting and interesting to see how that's going to play out the rest of the season for the Eagles. Yeah. I hope that the response is just extra eyes on the line of scrimmage on the beginning of the play. I don't think that that play, it's just like, it doesn't make sense to me to reenter the should the tush push exist. I think it's on the refs to find people false starting. Like that's your literal thoughts. You know, so it's like, if this is a problem, then the refs, in whatever ref conversations they're having, which this is why we need to ref on.
27:51Shout out to our listener our question from last week. Yeah. The refs should just be having extra eyes on that play. They know that it's probably going to happen. So I don't necessarily think that there's any necessity for a bigger conversation. It's just like, refs, you got to watch it a little bit more closely, especially on the Eagles. But you could also say this is karma for a lot of the plays that have gone the Chiefs way against the Eagles. I agree with that. Against the Eagles and against almost every single team. in the league because they were really upset. Like, there's so many people that were upset by these no calls because I think it happened more than once in this Chiefs-Eagles game.
28:32But, I mean, I would agree. You got to have a taste of your own medicine sometimes. Yeah. And I do think that the people get mad at the Chiefs because they are winning, you know, or have won so much lately that they're like, oh, well, they're not calling anything on the Chiefs when you know when a play on your team doesn't get called and everybody in that stadium is walking around like, we're just going to let that one go. Yeah, literally. Did y 'all see that? You know, so we're like meeting the Chiefs about it, but we all do. We've all seen plays where we're like, that was shady as hell. Thank God we got away from it because that got us a score.

29:05Every single team. So, you know. Yeah. We'll let it be what it is. Agreed. Any closing notes on the Chiefs? I mean, Patrick Mahomes has done the unthinkable before, so I don't think it's an absolute panic for the Chiefs kingdom yet. but I think it's definitely time to start looking closely into how this team is going to operate. Because if you start losing a lot in September, those losses add up, and then all of a sudden, you're not even nowhere near your record to be competitors in a playoff or even a wild card. Yeah. Yeah, I think at the end of the day, the Chiefs are still a great team. You know, they're still a great team.
29:51yeah they're losing more than they have in the past yeah maybe it's time for their program to grow up a little bit and you know start to go from this like young adult team to like adult adult team or whatever you however you want to call it but like I think that there are some adjustments that need to be made if they want to stay dominant and what it's looking like in my eyes is they are they're sticking to what has worked, which is something that can get businesses in a lot of trouble. Like if you don't change as things change, you will end up losing. And that's just like an overarching thing.
30:30And we're seeing the same Chiefs team coming out with a little bit less feist. And so I think that they need to make some adjustments because now Nick Sirianni is getting, I'm seeing like hearing the script flipping because he is beating Andy Reid. Yeah, because now Andy Reid has been beaten by Nick Sirianni multiple times. And people are looking at Nick Sirianni who has led, in my opinion, a more dynamic regime over the last couple of years.
31:04We're going to take a quick minute to thank our sponsors, Kuso Kites. I love you guys. I've been making salmon in the air fryer recently and I've been putting some of their lemon pepper seasoning on just one side. This is like lazy girl cooking who wants something delicious. Just on one side, popping into the air fryer for like 15 minutes. And it has been so good. It just goes with literally anything. Last night I ate it with like a side of cauliflower and yokey and pesto with a little lemon pepper salmon. So good. I've also had it with like rice and it's just great. I love Kuzo's. Their ingredients are clean.
31:42There's nothing to object to. It makes your meals easier. You can use it on the grill. A grilling season, I feel like fall is perfect grilling season. 32:07Let's talk about my team and the Detroit Lions. We're back. Anybody who said, I don't know about the Lions. I don't want to hear it. Okay. And anybody who says the Lions ran up the score. Everyone runs up the score when they're good. Okay. Everyone. You're just mad. Okay. You're just mad because you were wrong. We're so clipping that. But I do agree. Everyone was like in their feelings about the Lions week one. They're like, oh, I don't know about the Lions. The Lions are not going to make it to the Super Bowl or the playoffs this year. Guys, it's literally two weeks of football. And I think everything we say on this podcast when we talk about teams, like we are very aware, like this is just week two.
32:47Like we're going into week three. There's a lot of football to be played. It's freaking September. So I think it was a major over-exaggeration to like talk about this Lions team in the ways that they were talked about after their week one loss. But what do you think stood out to you the most about this game, especially with the homecoming for Ben Johnson, who used to be the Lions offensive coordinator and now is the head coach for the Chicago Bears? Okay, I'm going to start with the thing that I don't love so that we can get into the fun. I don't love that Ben Johnson was booed. I don't like that Ben, there was expletives chanted against Ben Johnson.
33:28I think that Ben Johnson should have received a standing ovation, in my opinion. I'm also like a lover girl. I don't like love the like mean side of sports. Like if a team is losing really bad, like I feel really sad for them. So it was really sad to me to see that demeanor from the fan base. And Jared Goff commented on it after as well, saying that he didn't love that chant. And the reason why it's upsetting to me is because Ben Johnson is so much of the reason that they played the way that they did yesterday and so much of the reason that the Lions are Super Bowl contenders multiple years in a row.
34:07So I just want to say that, like, I feel like you should always give credit where credit is due. And you should always be kind to the people who have built you up. And Ben Johnson is someone who absolutely built up the Lions. And so, I don't know. I think it should have been a different response. I was going to say, Ben Johnson wouldn't be the head coach of the Bears if he didn't do great work with the Lions. And that's, like, the easiest way to put it. Yeah. And I think the best way to love someone is to support them in the decision that they want to make. Agreed. And, like, who wouldn't want to go from an offensive coordinator to a head coach?
34:41Like, that's how these things play out. Let's talk about the things we did love because we loved a lot. Okay. So I the Lions were just playing like the old brand new Lions. You know, a couple of years ago, people said these are the brand new Detroit Lions and the Lions were playing like the brand new Detroit Lions. And I liked that they were sharp. I liked that they were clean. I liked that they were aggressive. I liked that they were showy. One thing about the Lions that I think is more interesting than some other teams in the league is their ability to use so much of their offense to score touchdowns and so much of their offense to make plays happen consistently.
35:26I mean, they have a staff offense, but I loved watching multiple people on really, really good drives. We saw J-Mo. We saw Amon Ra. We saw Gibbs, Montgomery. We saw other people that I'm forgetting right now, and I'm sorry. I love you. But even like we had a new tight end that make a good couple good catches. I forget what his name is. But I just like love seeing the diversity versus on other teams. You kind of hear about one to two players. I thought Amonra's celebration. So Amonra St. Brown, if you didn't watch this game, the game ended 21 Bears, 52 Lions. The Bears actually scored on. Yeah, the Bears actually scored on their opening drive, which is the second week in a row that they've done that.
36:08So when they scored, like Lions scored, Bears scored, and I was like, oh my gosh, we're going to have a game. We're going to have a game. And then it just got out of hand for the Bears, not for us. It was definitely in our hands. Or gadget ball. How to clarify. Yeah. Let's be clear. Anyway, so Amun-Ra scored three touchdowns. I'm talking about the diversity of all the players. I'm like, Amun-Ra scored three touchdowns. Sorry. Anyway, my statement stands. Okay, so he scored a touchdown and then did a fake hammy injury. And that sent me. I, my heart, like, Amon Ra, my heart literally dropped. Like, I need to hear from his girlfriend, Brooklyn.
36:54Like, did she know that was going to happen? Or is she sitting up there with her drink, panicking? Like, who knew? Who knew that he was going to do this, you know? Yeah. And then he did a little dance. I thought that was so funny. They also did repeat Ben Johnson's Stumblebump play, which if you haven't seen Stumblebump, basically Jared Goff pretended to fall over, Jameer Gips pretends to fall over, and then they make a crazy pass they score, I'm pretty sure. But it's like a play where everyone pretends to fall over, and then they made the play. So they repeated that as a celebration. I thought that was hilarious.
37:27And I did think that that was like funny to Ben Johnson, like a kind ode to him. Aiden Hutchinson was so cute. He got his first sack of the season. He's like blowing kisses. And he seems like a stand-up guy to me, like just like a real good guy. Yeah. Also has a very hot family. Like his sisters are stunning. He's hot. Like their whole family's like really got some in the water. I like it when a player like feels warmth and love from the crowd. So the Bears, they got demolished. It was honestly a little bit sad to watch. Caleb Williams, I don't think he's down and out. I don't think the Bears are down and out.
38:04The Bears didn't play bad in the first game of the season. They are 0-2, but their first game was very, very close. So I think that the storyline that the Bears are screwed is just, it's just drama. It's for the headline. It's for the drama. The Lions are one of the top teams in the league. They have been for the last couple of seasons. Last night, they played the same caliber as the top teams in the league. and you put a brand new head coach with a newer quarterback. And people are saying like, oh, they said that there was going to be a relationship between like Caleb and Ben. But any relationship takes time.
38:38Yeah, it's not going to happen overnight. Yeah. Also, like, did you want to move in with your boyfriend after four months? Like maybe. I've done that before and I found out real fast. I found out real fast. Yeah, I moved in with a guy after three months. It was lust. I mean, honestly. Three weeks later, I was like, I don't want to live. Like, actually, I thought about it and I'm going to go. But you have such a nice life. Here's my thing. I'm going to throw a little bit of a spanner in the works. Just a little one. So for me, this game was a must win for the Lions. Like, think about the Lions implications if they lost this game.
39:16It would be terrible, especially coming off of the week one loss. Then, mind you, week three, Monday night primetime, the Lions travel to Baltimore and take on Lamar and the Ravens. So I think it's going to be really interesting. I still really, really love this Lions team, and I'm still right there with you. I'm like, I need to see them in the Super Bowl. However, how they play the Ravens is going to tell us a lot. Yes. Because if the Ravens can go toe-to-toe with the Bills and we see how the Chiefs are playing, we know what the Eagles have. And those are like the top teams in the league, right?
39:51Yeah. The Lions-Ravens matchup is going to be key in terms of playoff and possible Super Bowl and NFC and AFC championships. So I'm interested to see one stat I will say about this game that I really love, Sonic & Knuckles. This is the 10th game Jameer Gibbs and David Montgomery have each had a touchdown. So, to your point, the diversity that the Lions have on their offense is absolutely amazing. I don't think any other team in the NFL can say that, that they have that much diverse and that many different players. And didn't the rookie Tesla, didn't he have a touchdown in this game too? Okay, not a touchdown, but as long as two NFL catches, both one-handed, outstretched.
40:36That's what it was. Yes, we got to put that on social. It's insane. First two catches, like. Man's a dog. A dog. An absolute dog. I agree with you, though. On Monday, he's going to say a lot. Monday is going to show us. You know, I think the Packers situation was unfortunate, but I think that the Ravens are one of my favorite teams to watch right now. I think that they're just absolutely incredible. I like the way that they play. I think that they play on the cleaner side. I think that they don't overutilize aggression. I mean, the way that some other teams we see do, just like pure brute force in places that we don't need it.
41:13And so I'm really excited for that matchup. I also do really just like what the Ravens have going on. I'm really interested to see how their season unfolds. So I agree that if the Lions have lost this week, that would have been a much harder matchup to go into. Okay, on to number five, Jaden Daniels. This one hurts my soul because like if you know me, and this is honestly kind of crazy, But as a Cowboys fan, I love Jade Daniels. I've heard his mom is kind of crazy, though, which is kind of funny. Like, his mom's very much, like, dance mom, but, like, and football. Interesting. So she's very, like, involved.
41:56She's very involved, and she's very much, like, I wouldn't say protective, because I think anybody is protective of their son, especially Jade on his second year. Like, I don't think that's a problem. but maybe next episode I'll find out more tea and we'll disclose but I really like Jane Daniels or that yeah like tell us why you're in the headlines so much because like you don't hear about people's moms like that unless they're like like long lost moms or something right or like how do you get in the headlines like what are you what like who are you talking to that's putting Your name on the mat.
42:33Which is interesting. Okay. Anyway, we'll find out more and give you an update. Yes. But Jane Daniels now day to day, I think, I believe he has an ankle injury. Or no, it's a knee injury. And this is really sad because I think this commander's offense, the only reason why they're being talked about right now is because of Jane Daniels. And Zach Ertz was a really good tight end pickup for me. And now I'm kind of like on the fence going into week three, picking up Zach Ertz for fantasy because we don't know if Jaden's going to play. More than likely, I really think he's going to play because he just feels like a type of player to play through injuries and like overcome adversity.
43:09But I'm a little worried. Yeah, I think it's a little bit of a stretch to say that he's the only thing on the offense. The commanders before Jaden Daniels, nobody talks about them. Washington, like obviously the name change and like the controversy behind that was a big thing but Washington since they drafted Jane Daniels and mind you the conversation between Jane Daniels and Caleb Williams is actually really interesting because Caleb was picked first and Jane Daniels came second in the NFL draft when they were both getting drafted so the argument between those quarterbacks is like the Bears could have had Jane Daniels but got Caleb Williams and vice versa but I think they ended up where they were supposed to be and everything happens for a reason but yeah I don't think it's too far of a stretch to say that the commanders weren't really relevant before they got Jaden Daniels because he's a big, big, big part of why they had a playoff push.
44:01They were in the NFC Championship. So. Yeah, it's going to be interesting. I do hope for his sake, though, that if he has, if the injury is legitimate as a younger player with so much potential, I would rather him be out this season and have longevity in the league that pushed through an injury and need like a surgery that could be, you know, like potentially impactful in three years. Right, right. It's also like sophomore slump. But that's selfish, because I want to see him for a long time. Yeah, no, he needs to be, like, I could see Jane Daniels being, like, a franchise-type generational player for the Commanders.
44:35Yeah, hopefully he will be. Okay, so that's our top five season changers from week two. I liked this one. It was fun. I liked that we got to cover injuries, got to cover some other stuff. Let's yap and recap. Ooh. Also a new segment name. We're just going to talk about a lot of fourth quarter chaos because that's kind of the theme of this weekend was just like absolute chaos in the fourth quarter in my first season watching football i actually like didn't like the last two minutes i was like this is the most insane thing and now if you're a new fan just watch the fourth quarter okay you don't have to sit with your boyfriend for every single quarter of every game you don't need to go to the bar for every quarter like get somebody to tell you in your ear the synopsis of what's going on watch the fourth quarter it's all you need to know the stars are going to be starring.
45:24The injuries might have already happened. And that's when you get like everyone's hype and your like blood pressure is up. It's the most fun part of the game. So if you're a newer fan and you're like, can't quite get into it, just pop in. End of the third quarter, get a little snack. No, get a little snack. No, it's kind of like basketball. Like basketball is only interesting when you watch like the last couple seconds, couple minutes of the game. And Okay, so I want to start with the Colts-Broncos. This is my favorite one because it's so chaotic. So the Broncos and Colts are playing. It's the last second of the game.
46:03Spencer Schrader goes for a 60-yard field goal to win it. Misses it. Hard right. Hard right. Drama. Colts lose. But then a penalty I've never heard before on the Broncos. It's called leverage because he's using someone else, apparently, to get leverage to get towards the ball. It doesn't come up very often. However, the player who got leveraged on, leveraged upon, was flagging, like, hey, he used me. He knew what the penalty was, and he was flagging that, flagging it, which also I feel like usually being a tattletale doesn't turn out well just in general. but he said, hey, hey, hey. They rewatched the play.
46:50It's leverage. Spencer Schrader gets to go again. It's a 15-yard penalty, 45-yard field goal, makes the field goal. Colts win. Are the Colts relevant? Maybe. Spencer Schrader is the best kicker in fantasy right now. What? Who are the Colts and all I have to say is this is what happens when you put women in charge. Yes. Amen. Because when you let women in the office, new Colts owner, Carly Ursa, she's on the field, Ursa Gordon, because her name's Hype, her last name's Hype, she did, but she's on the field with the headset taking notes. First of all, what NFL owner is doing that? Second of all, what female NFL owner is doing that?
47:48Like she's an icon and I think her and her sisters, because I have to give her sister's credit as well, they are running this organization very well because the fact that they have Daniel Jones and Daniel Jones is a conversation in itself. He has been amazing in week one and two. I'm not going to say he's like great because it's just week one and two, but he has been really good, but very, very proud of what the cults are building. And I saw something in that said, the reason why she's on the field with the headphones and the notes is because she wants to know who's doing their job, who's contributing, who's not stepping up to the plate.
48:23She wants to know everything. And like, I appreciate that so much because that way, when she goes in the conversations with like a head coach or a coach for a coaching position, She knows like, hey, I heard you make that call. Bye-bye. Or hey, I heard you make that call. Congratulations. I want you on my team for another five years. So hats off to Carly and her sisters. Yes. Obsessed. I'm obsessed with it all. And who even are the Colts? We didn't know until the girls got in charge. We didn't know until the girls got in charge. So I'm obsessed with the story. I'll be following it all season. I literally don't know.
49:00I probably watched a total of four Colts games, to be completely transparent with you. And now they're one of my favorite watches. I just love it. I think I could go about this all day, but unfortunately, we have to move on. So yeah, the girls, it's time for the girls. Okay, let's talk about the Panthers and the end of the Panthers-Cardinals game. Listen, if you feel any parallels to the Panthers, you got to get him out of there. All right. Okay. So this is what happens. Arizona has a 27, three lead with nine minutes, 23 seconds to go. 27 to three. Okay. The Panthers are not that good. All right.
49:43They're not, they're, I'm not trying to be rude. They're just not that good. So we're like, it's over. Okay. No, everyone knows. You know, I think the Panthers are kind of sleepers though. I actually do believe that. I think that they're bad. They lose a lot, but they, they have some slick plays in there. So the Panthers, come back. They cut the margin to 27-22. Cardinals are up at 158 left. They converted an onside kick. Who gets an onside kick? That's insane. So how it happened is they kicked onside kick. It hits a Cardinal. Panthers recover it. Stunning. Insane. Gorgeous execution. Gorgeous.
50:19They have a shot. They can actually win. They're at like, what, the 53? One minute, 58 seconds to go. Plenty of time. Plenty of time. Then the Cardinals keep jacking it up. Four fouls. Four on the Cardinals defense. Get it together. Get it together. Especially in a moment like that. Yeah, I'm like, the Cardinals are definitely gonna lose. Like, there's no way the Panthers don't win this, right? And I kind of like the Panthers. So I'm thinking the Panthers got this. The Panthers have every chance in the world. Not only do they have their regular four downs, but they have four extra opportunities with yards tucked in there, extra first down chances, and they can't make it happen.
51:14And so all I have to say is, if you're confused, it's a no. And if you give them four or more chances and they can't convert in the way that you want them to convert, get out of there because they're just going to let you down. It says a lot about Bryce Young, too, which Bryce Young is the quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. Hunter Winfro, a wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers, has popped up as a streamer option on Fantasy because he has done pretty good in the last couple of weeks. He had 22 points against the Cardinals. So that's interesting. But I also want to mention in 2023, the onside kick success rate was 4.23%.
51:57So for them to even pull this off, like that's something you see in Madden. Like, and if you don't know what Madden is, it's like pretty much, it's like a video game for football. But that's something like that happens in Madden. It doesn't happen in real life in the NFL. So for them to like be successful in that, that was pretty cool to watch. It was so cool. It was such a bummer to watch them lose it. Like, it was just a disjointed drive. I think that it's, like, kind of a mindset thing, though, is, like, maybe the Panthers' mindset is we're going to lose, and it's, like, a self-fulfilling prophecy.
52:28Because if they were practicing like they could win, there was no reason why they couldn't have won that game. And I just, I love a drama storyline. I don't want to be in the drama, but I want to hear about it, okay? There you go. Young was sacked with the quarterback sacked with 26 seconds to go. It's over. Cardinals win. Panthers are going to get some talk into, but so are the Cardinals defense because what the hell? Yeah. Last one. We'll do it super quick. Then we're going to talk about winners of fantasy and then we're going to go home. Bucks Texans. Bucks win by a single point. A single point.
53:09in the last six seconds of the game. And now what's crazy about this is they try a two-point conversion, which feels insane to me because if that two-point conversion and a throw, they didn't even try a handoff. They wanted to throw it. And if they would have gotten that picked off, they could have lost the game. So that was crazy to me. But a six-second touchdown was insane. I do think it was interesting they didn't use the timeout earlier to lower the pressure and get themselves more time. But maybe they did it perfectly because they only had six seconds left and the likelihood of a punt return is wild.
53:39So, Bucs-Texans game, lighten it up. That was a good thriller to end, or I guess it kind of started Monday night football. But yeah, I was kind of confused, but I saw the Texans also had a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter as well. So, I don't know if they were like, oh, because I think they were unsuccessful at two-point conversion. So, maybe the Bucs were like, well, let us show you how to do it. But they were also unsuccessful, so it didn't make any sense. But okay, Queen, go off. So for fantasy, we're going to do an average of week one, week two on the leaders. So these are your overall leaders in your one flex or two flex spot leagues.
54:17The one flex leader is Chubba Chubba Choo Choo in the league, Charbonnet Sauvignon. Her handle is PopTarts8008. So if you could tell us who you are, we'll post you on social. And then two flex leader overall averaged across the first two weeks. King Henry's hit list. I love it. Username NatYourProblem13. So I'm assuming her name's Nat. And she is in the league teardrops on my Lamar. Okay. Well, thank you guys so much for listening to the game.
