In short

Her Game Days’ Week 1 NFL recap plus community “Pick Six” housekeeping, focusing on record-setting games, coaching/payroll moves, travel/sleep, and off-field/legal headlines.

Guests

No guests appear in the transcript; hosts are Victoria and JoJo.

Key claims

  • Week 1 was the highest-scoring in NFL history (791 total points; tied with 2012).
  • Bears vs. Panthers showed both offenses can score; Carolina’s 37 points are “insane” even in a blowout.
  • Rams’ 15-hour Australia travel and sleep neglect likely contributed to a 49ers 27-7 win.
  • NFL broadcast airing arrest details is framed as social accountability, especially for women’s safety.
  • Aaron Rodgers is criticized for bashing exes and for an “angry” on-field demeanor.
  • Chiefs’ 31-10 win over Broncos was driven by turnovers and Mahomes’ comfort after injury.

Notable examples

  • Bears franchise opener points record (45 at Wrigley Field in 1948 referenced).
  • Caleb Williams: 21/29, 269 yards, 4 TDs; Bryce Young: 361 yards, 3 TDs.
  • DeAndre Swift extension then 124 yards/3 TDs.
  • Ben Johnson 5-year/$65M Bears deal.
  • Josh Jacobs and Jonathan Cooper legal statuses; Cooper felony assault/strangulation charge.

0:10Hey, girl.

0:12Victoria:Hey, girl. Welcome back to the Her Game Days podcast and your weekly Wednesday pick six. It's Victoria and JoJo and we're coming to Buffalo. cannot wait home opener for the bills brand new stadium first game of the season of the regular season it's gonna be electric i'm so excited and if you didn't know it's our first her game days official meetup of the season and we have a bunch of girls coming to just hang out we're gonna meet in front of the buffaloes at 4 30 p.m we're gonna hang out there for a bit we'll be there for a minimum of like 20 to 30 minutes. So within like 4.30 to 5, make sure that you get there.

1:00Victoria:We'll take some photos. We'll meet, hang out. And then after 5, we may venture to get a drink to get into the stadium, kind of whatever happens. But it'll be pretty casual. We just want to meet up, say hey, and kind of get to know everyone and have some of the Buffalo girls meet each other, which will be super, super fun. Last year, we met in Buffalo. So this feels extra special. It's going to be our anniversary. Our anniversary. You're too, baby. Let's go. You know, I actually was thinking about this. Like early games in Buffalo is perfect for me because I cannot do the cold. Like we're in Toronto right now and it's like cold and I'm unhappy.

1:43Victoria:I'm like, I actually am freezing. And so like this is the only Buffalo games that I can go to. It is a little chilly today. It's a nice crisp fall day and it's going to be nighttime too. So it's going to get a little colder, but it'll, it's better than snow. I didn't bring a jacket, like a good jacket. So I have to buy one tomorrow. I can loan you one. I have a Bill's jacket, but you probably don't know where I know. I feel kind of insane going as a Lions fan because it's like the Bill's home opener. And that's so special. And I'm so excited for Bill's fans because I love the Bill's and I love the Bills girls.

2:23Victoria:Right. But I am a Lions fan. And so I need to keep my allegiance. But it feels a little weird going to like this specific game as a Lions fan rather than like with Bills Mafia. If you're a guy, I'd be worried for you. But you're a girl. So I think we'll be all right. We're going to exercise my pretty privilege. And everyone loves the Lions in general. Yes, Bills fans and Lions fans like understand each other on a level that most teams don't. And so I don't I'm not no part of me is concerned about like hate or mean people at the tailgate. Like I'm just not concerned about it. And we're meeting up with the girls and the girls already know I'm a Lions fan.

3:07Victoria:Like the girls also would never be mean to you. At least not our girls. Maybe other girls, but not ours. I think I think you'll be fine with the girls for sure. And we have a huge group of Bills fans, which is awesome. It's great. Yeah, it's going to be super. Bills are actually, I was looking at like our numbers for our like social club and then also like the Instagram followers. And Buffalo is one of our top cities for like followers and community members, which is super cool. And the Bills are the highest number of like the fandom numbers. the Bills are the highest number of girls that we have in fandom in our community.

3:47Victoria:I mean, that tracks. I mean, there's a lot of Bills fans everywhere. So that's pretty cool. Everywhere. Yeah. Okay. So, yeah, that's the housekeeping for today. Obviously, week one really did not disappoint. I feel like any season in the NFL, like we always say this, but I feel like week one, like there was a lot of blowouts. Mm-hmm. A couple of dramatic injuries. A couple of records broken in the first game, which I think there was three records broken in the first games, which is crazy. And then I also feel like we had some fall from graces. Yes. And I believe it was the highest week one or the highest scoring week.

4:33Victoria:Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Highest scoring week one in NFL history. Highest scoring week one. That's what it was. Right. Or is it highest scoring week in NFL history? Let's see. OK, 2012 and 2026 opening week share the record for highest scoring week one in NFL history during the Super Bowl era. 791 points. That's crazy that that exact number of points happened in week one some other time as well. Right. Right. I do remember that last year it was it was explosive because I had made a lot of touchdown bets and a lot of them hit. wait so that's last year yeah that was last year right or is it this always throws me off no it's this week it's week one yeah it was yesterday yeah okay okay oh boy let's try that again sorry no it throws me off all the time because it's like the 20 we both had long busy days if nothing else we're glitching okay okay highest scoring week one in nfl history tied with 2012 was this weekend at 791 total points that's insane it's absolutely insane yeah like full drama i think it's so interesting because the first game the super bowl rematch was like boring for most people like to actually watch i said this on my instagram story i had a great time Like my boyfriend threw a little Super Bowl party for us and our friends.

6:01Victoria:I was drinking wine all night. Like I was sitting on the couch. The girls group chat was going off. And so I went to bed on Monday like, this is so fun. You know, like so happy. And then you're like, this game is a snooze fest. And I was like, what? We had very different experiences. And that's okay. You know what? You should have had the group chat open quicker. I the next day I didn't make that mistake. Yeah, you can't because it's going off all day. Actually, it's like one of my greatest joys is like waking up in the morning and the girls are ready. They're like, good morning, football guys.

6:36Victoria:And I'm like, oh, yeah, I love it. I love it so much. Usually I'm just like texting my guy friends about it. And now I have girlfriends to text about. It's pretty awesome. It's actually so crazy to think back. Like right when I became a fan, it was like the very beginning of season. I don't even know if the first game had happened yet. I don't really remember. Oh, no. I don't know. But whatever. I remember the first game that I ever was like a real NFL fan. And I was sitting there and I was like, I was cracking jokes. And obviously, I think I'm funny, as everyone thinks they're funny. But I was sitting there cracking jokes.

7:12Victoria:And I was like, the girls would think this is so funny. And I was like, I'm alone. And now, now I'm not alone. Oh, you're just speaking into the abyss before and now. Truly. You get a whole girls chat. Now we're talking to our friends. We're going to meet IRL. Okay. Let's get into the stories of the week. So the massive point really ties into our first story because the Chicago Bears beat Carolina 59 to 37, 96 combined points, making the highest scoring season opener in NFL history. The older record was 88 when Tampa Bay beat New Orleans 48 to 40 in 2018. 55 of those points from Carolina, Chicago came in the first half.

8:08Victoria:And the Bears broke a franchise record for points in an opener that had stood since 1948. 1948, when Chicago hung 45 points on Green Bay at Wrigley Field, actually. So that's super interesting. That's cool. They played at Wrigley Field. Yeah, that's what the, that's what Quad told me. Sweet. Sweet. Okay. Okay. One of the storylines that's coming out of this is that, like, people are kind of unhappy with the Panthers or, like, a little worried about the Panthers. But I'm not worried about the Panthers because like I feel like I knew that the Bears and like I anticipated the Bears being good because the Bears didn't take it all the way last year.

8:55Victoria:But they were like solid the entire season and you could expect excellence from them. And so I feel like we could expect like they didn't have a fluke season. They just kind of won and like took home W after W after W. And so I wasn't expecting anything. I wasn't expecting them to like have that hard of a time or be able to like put points on the board but yeah people are like I don't know I feel like they're just not hype about Carolina but Carolina still put up what is it 39 points did I just say 37 37 yeah yeah and putting up 37 points on the Bears is insane so like I think that everyone should be super excited about that and kind of afraid of both of these teams and I think that if anybody keeps underestimating Carolina because Chicago put up so much, then they're making a huge mistake.

9:42Right. I think the only thing that failed was the defense because I think their offense, both offenses did pretty freaking well. Yeah. And both defenses like kind of didn't. Right. They, but I don't think there's anything to be concerned about. I think both offenses looked pretty great. Yeah. And I don't think Carolina will struggle. I think this is just game one, and I think they can do well. And I know that's one of your, like, back pocket teams that you love. Yes. And I think they'll be just fine.

10:22Victoria:Yeah, I think so, too. Things about Caleb Williams that I didn't know.

10:30Victoria:He was the number one overall pick in 2024, which other people probably know that, but I didn't. on a four-year$39.49 million rookie deal with$25.54 million signing bonus, fully guaranteed, plus a fifth-year option, which is great. On Sunday, went 21 of 29 for 269 yards and four total touchdowns, two of them on improbable scrambles, which actually, like, 269 yards is, like— It's low, in my opinion. I thought it would be low. but he also rushed for 65 yards. And then DeAndre Swift rushed for over 100 yards and three touchdowns. And Kyle Manangay rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown. Yeah, so I guess that makes sense.

11:30It's insane. These numbers are just insane. for week one. Like if you're new to football, don't expect this. Right. And then on the other side, Bryce Young had over 350 yards. He had 361 yards, three touchdowns. What a cutie. He is. Okay. Also, oh, go for it. No, no, no. I was just going to say, I think he's young, but he's learning. He's learning how to crush it. Like last year he stumbled a little bit, but you know, once he got his feet under him, I think. I kind of feel like last year he did well. Like, they went to the playoffs. He did at the end. Didn't they, like, pull him mid-year for, like, and then brought in Andy Dalton or something, and then he earned his spot back, I think, when Andy got injured.

12:22Something like that.

12:23Victoria:Not benched during the 2025 season. Was it the year before, maybe? Yeah, maybe it was the year before, yeah, because last year. but Bryce Young is coming off his best pro season in 2025. Okay, yeah, so it must have been a different year. But I think that that's kind of like the overall discourse around Bryce Young, though, is that he's like, like his last name is doing him dirty. People are like, oh, he's young, he's green, he needs to learn. I'm like, guys, I think he's good. Like, I think we should just start calling him good. Bryce good. Bryce good. Bryce mature. Price baby face. Good. Yeah.

13:04I'm sticking to it.

13:06Victoria:OK. On another note, DeAndre Swift, with his three touchdowns, signed a three-year$33.75 million extension with$27.5 guaranteed on Friday. And then goes on, on Sunday, 124 yards, three touchdowns. He earned it, I think. I think so, too. Yeah, he had over. Yeah. Yeah, last season he had 1 ,087 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns over 16 starts and 1 ,386 yards from scrimmage. So I think he earned his money. I love that he just like got the money, though, because there's been a lot of deals. I feel like in the offseason, in preseason, where guys would like sign the deal and they get hurt like the next week.

13:49Right.

13:50Victoria:So it's kind of nice to see this, like get the money and then do the effing job you got paid for. Exactly. You know, not that it's everyone else's fault, but like, I don't know. That feels like a nice start to the season rather than whatever the hell was happening before. Right. The owners are probably like, oh, phew. Yeah. They're like, oh, my God. He was worth it. Yeah. Good investment. Good investment. Nailed it. Nailed it. Okay. Also, Ben Johnson, who the girls were talking highly of in the group chat this weekend, he signed a$13 million a year contract. So it was a five-year,$65 million deal for the Bears head coach job.

14:31Victoria:And Matt Eberflus, who Ben replaced, was making around six or was making$6 million a year. And then first-time head coaches average around$8 million. And Ben Johnson is at$13 million. Does that make him the highest? It says like the... One of the highest? Yeah, one of the highest. Okay. That's wild. Yeah. But like, what are the bears doing in their front office that they're paying people and then they're performing? Great question. Like, what's in that water that's working? I was just going to say that. What's in that water? Or like, is it the champagne? Is it the water? Like, because they're paying and then they're performing.

15:14Right.

15:14Victoria:I don't know, but I like it. They're doing something right. Yeah. The bears are tough because since I'm a Lions fan, like, I shouldn't like them. But I just really love Ben Johnson. and I think he's, like, cute. He seems like a good guy, and he seems like— I think it's kind of hard sometimes for men to be, like, come off intelligent without seeming overly pompous, and I feel like Ben Johnson does a really good job of being, like, intelligent, humble, well-paid, and, like, not letting it get to his head. He just, like, seems like a good guy. Yeah, and I think the players respect him, too. I think that's a huge— Yeah, yeah.

15:53Victoria:A huge thing. Yeah. I mean, how can you not, though, like watching him come off the Lions like best season ever and then go into being a head coach? Like there was no question that he was going to be a head coach somewhere good. Right. And I think it's like his reputation precedes him. Oh, he is cute. He's adorable. Sorry, just pulled him up. Yeah. Just pulled him up. OK, do you want to go? I don't really have anything else to say about about those, but I think Carolina is still in a really good spot. But and I think the Bears, like the Bears, everyone should be afraid of the Bears, except maybe their defense at this moment.

16:29Victoria:Yeah. And to know that was in Carolina. So that wasn't even a home game for the Bears. Like, yeah, that's crazy, actually. Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah. So I'm looking forward to seeing all those Bears games this year. And I'll probably be betting on a lot of touchdowns for them. Probably betting the over a lot on the bittersies. Oh, yeah. By the way, if you guys are not in it yet, we made a sports betting channel in our group chat so that all like sports betting, like one girl asked, what should I parlay? And the girls hopped in on like how to plan your parlay and like what a good option would be.

17:08Victoria:And JoJo's dreams came true in that moment. It was it was literally so beautiful to see. So beautiful. I don't know a lot of women that bet. So it was just music to my ears. So, yeah, I'm always down to tail a bet if anybody wants to send me some or I'll send you some. What does tail a bet mean? So it just means it's just like slang, I guess, for you'll place the same bet and then you'll ride together is when you'll just see it out together. That's fun. Yeah. That's cute. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Reminder, we're not experts and this is not legal advice or financial advice. Uh-huh. I lost a lot of bets on Sunday.

17:53So it's just makes it fun, though.

17:56Victoria:Just it just makes it fun to lose your money. Just just a nice little hobby. Yeah. OK, moving on. OK, so next topic, rands get no sleep.

18:15So the Rams were roasted. They took a 15-hour flight about 35 hours before the game time. And they thought they were so smart. They sent how many staffers? 14 staffers? I guess 15 staffers. 15 staffers over the past two years, which how did they know two years ahead of time that they were going to play a game in Australia, to do research on, you know, how important sleep is, I guess. And they thought it wasn't important. And the score absolutely roasted. This is exactly what came from the scientists that sleep is actually not important. So just go whenever you want. Just go for it. Just try it out.

19:12See what happens. Nothing is riding on this. Oh, my God. You know, not a divisional game or anything. No, no. Yeah. So the 49ers won 27 to 7.

19:26Victoria:What a joke. This is so crazy, though, because so they sent 15 staffers over two years to analyze sleep. First question that I saw coming up is how did they know they were going to Australia two years in advance, which I don't know what NDA got broken for that, but there was definitely one. Whatever. Or maybe they just know and that's just something that they do. They tell the teams in advance you're going to be going to Europe or Australia or whatever this year. But I really wonder, like, did they all actually go to Australia? Were they flying commercial? Like, all of that. And then were they taking like, because Ram staffers are different than like elite athletes.

20:08Victoria:But I think, okay, actually I made a note in my phone. I wish I knew where it was. My notes app is like very ADHD. But the, this, oh, this is the thought. The Rams lost their season opener for the same reason that women always win fantasy football. And it's because women always take the full person into account. And the men only take the stats and the numbers into account. The Rams lost their season opener for the same reason that women always win fantasy football. And it's because men always put numbers over everything else. They do it in finance. They do it in sports betting. They do it in fantasy.

20:50Victoria:They always say, but the numbers say, but the numbers say. And women always look at it as a more holistic picture, which is also what makes women better investors, which is like documented that women are typically better investors because women are taking more into account than just the numbers. And I think that's probably what happened here because the Rams sent these people over. They analyzed data. They probably have like Apple watches, Oura Ring, sleep studies, all of that. But they didn't necessarily account for like having kids. Like if you're not tired on the plane or if you're really anxious or if you're an anxious flyer or Or if you get backed up, like you can't go number two when you travel.

21:31Victoria:Like none of that is considered, which is real. Like it's real. These men are eating a lot of food, OK? Like if you're backed up, you're going to be this is going to jack you up. OK. Or you're eating like Vegemite. Isn't that the food over there?

21:48Yeah. And it's like. But you're right. It's like, OK, you might have analyzed the data for a perfect scenario, but. Did you analyze it for people that might not sleep on the plane?

22:01Victoria:Yeah. Like what is what is like the un isn't there like something in math where it's like an unknown variable and you like adjust for the unknown? Yeah, that sounds right. What's it called? Entropy. Yes. They did not consider entropy. No. Wait, how do you use entropy? It's like margin for error. Okay. It's a measure of how catastrophic something is and what you don't know. Yeah. But like that's that's like should be considered. Seriously, I think it's crazy. If you told me you're getting on a flight and 20 hours later you're going to play, I would be like, no. Like, yeah. Last time I flew to Europe, I got in at like 11 a.m.

22:41Victoria:I was like, I'm going to have a day. But I was like solo traveling. And so you bet. I got into my hotel room and I slept till like 9 p.m. and then went out to dinner and then went back to bed. Like, and these are like big guys. They're like, like they need their sleep, you know. and yeah but i feel like even getting like settled you know like the amount of time to like get into a room get settled have your toothbrush out like i know that there are like uniforms and whatever like in the building but i think just the time to like settle into where you're staying yeah right and a lot of them have a routine yeah and it's it's it was a real bad move they just look exhausted yeah i feel like also though like okay i don't think the rams are gonna make it to the playoffs i i mean i don't think it's because they have issues sleeping that's fair but i would like to see them with miles garrett back and aaron downd and yeah i would like to see them with sleep and see how i don't i don't believe that they will make it to the playoffs anymore i did have high hopes but it did not look good yeah They look sloppy.

23:52Victoria:I don't want to like overgeneralize, but I do feel like when there's too much hype around a team and a team believes in their own hype too much, then that's when they go down. It's like when the team believes that their hype makes them invincible, then they always like fall from grace. And I think that's what happened to the Lions last season. They were nine and eight. They were like so on a high almost to the point where like it's a group thing. It's like you're supposed to like buy real estate when no one else is buying real estate. because if everybody is on the same page about something like everybody truly then you have to start questioning it and that was like across the board with literally everything if you can't find a person who doesn't think differently then you know that like you should be thinking differently right right yeah that's a good point yeah but i don't know maybe that was too harsh of me to say i don't think they're gonna make the playoffs but like because once but one of my okay the last story we're gonna have was miles garrett is injured but we'll just talk about that now okay which his press conference was bad i didn't see this press conference i he just like said like he was like i really want to go and represent myself at my best out there and this wasn't my best and like along those lines like i don't remember verbatim what he said but it was just like you could tell that he was feeling like quite defeated in that moment uh obviously they got like absolutely smashed there's so much hype with like him and aaron donnell coming back and being this duo So, like, Aaron Donald and Miles Garrett are giving Sonic and Knuckles on defense.

25:16Yeah. That's a great point. Incredible. Yeah.

25:20Victoria:So, it's like— Yeah. I wonder if he knew he was injured at that press conference. Like, so he knew he was going to be out for a bit. I think they probably knew pregame that he was—like, I think that everyone—their whole staff knew pregame that he was, like, injured but not injured enough to be on, like, the injury list. Right. And then now, and then like he played in the game and was like, oh, this is not going to. Because they don't really go full out until the game. Like they don't practice full intensity. Which like I guess the only other sport that's like that really is like boxing. Because you like shadow box, but you don't actually fight until you fight.

26:00Victoria:And then football, like you run drills, you do some stuff in pads, you have like joint practices, but you never do a 60 minute game full intensity. Because if you even enjoy practices, like most the hits on each other, like you might be running routes as hard as you're going to, but you're not like hitting each other the same way that you're going to in the game. Yeah, I feel like preseason is more for like the second and third stringers. Yeah. Rather than the first. So I do think I wouldn't be surprised if the Rams come out and like have an excellent week two. I think we said last week that they play on the 21st.

26:36Victoria:so they have another six days to recover and get comfortable. People were saying, like, oh, well, now they're going to be more rested for this game. And I'm like, maybe. Like, maybe the 49ers are going to be jacked up. They're playing the Giants on Monday night. In New York? Let me see. And the Giants are on huge high. In L.A. In L.A. Oh, in L.A. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Dang. I'm going to be in New York still on Monday, so I was like, maybe I'll have to go to them. Oh, yeah. No, you get to see the Jets? Yeah, the Jets on Sunday. I'm kind of like 50-50 about it because I'm also going to be traveling to Europe soon.

27:12So I'm like, was going to stay.

27:14Victoria:But then I'm like, it just kind of feels like a lot. And it's like a lot of cash to like stay in New York. Right. Oh, they're playing the Packers. The Jets are playing the Packers next. Yes, the Jets are playing. I honestly, yeah, because the Packers had a rough weekend because the Packers lost to the Vikings. This is actually one of my favorite quotes that I saw this weekend. It said this is the least Vikings thing the Vikings have ever seen or like something like that. Oh, this is the most un-Vikings-like thing to ever happen to the Vikings. Yeah, they have a lot of bad luck in history. But that comeback was insane.

27:55What are you talking about?

27:56Victoria:The Jets? No, Vikings and Packers. Oh, yeah. Yeah, because Packers were up and Vikings came back out of nowhere. Yeah, because J.J. No. Kyler. Kyler, yeah. Yeah. With a concussion. And that was, like, pretty rough. I didn't watch that game. But that was, like, pretty rough to watch, wasn't it? Like, the concussion was, like, really bad and he was. Yeah. He twitched and it was not good. And then he also grabbed his ankle or his knee or something. Just, like, really. Really drunken. That's really sad. So, yeah. That was pretty scary. And then who went in as their QB? Carson Wentz. Yeah. Whoa. Yeah.

28:43He slung it to JJ. He threw it to JJ, 92 yards, two touchdowns.

28:52Victoria:Wow. Where was Carson Wentz before? The Eagles? I feel like we just pulled somebody out of like a Pandora's box. No, he was on the Chiefs. He was backing up Mahomes. Wait. Yeah, in 2024? since 2024 okay okay so we have philadelphia eagles 2016 to 2020 rookie records super bowl title in 2017 despite missing the end of the season with a knee injury so not so like kind of then started one full season in indianapolis played one season with the commanders back up qb for the rams a season with kansas city in 2024 so some somewhere on the qb room then the vikings 2025 through present open 2026 season with historic comeback that is wild yeah very wild and the crazier thing about this is that the Packers just gave up their excellent QB2 to the Dolphins and he obviously flopped this weekend but the Packers probably don't feel that good about that right now especially going up against QB2 wow and I don't know why I have this like feeling that Kyler Murray like might retire.

30:00Victoria:It might be in his best interests, but I don't know. I think he's still too young. Yeah. I don't know. Like that's kind of coming from nowhere, but like that's just like a little feeling that I'm... Well, he was hurt last year too. Yeah, he's 29. I think he could be like a mentor, like one of those vets that they just have riding the bench. Yeah. Yeah. Helps. Kyler Murray's height online is 5 feet 10 and 1 eighth inches. That seems too tall. I don't think that's accurate. Really? I don't think he's actually. You think the 1 eighth inches is fake? Yeah, definitely. That's the part. I believe 4 '10", to be honest.

30:53Victoria:It's always crazy when you see some little shorties on the field and they really are like nearly six feet but they look like mini compared to like some of the tall guys right yeah right like in like in basketball it's like the point guards they look so tiny and then but you see them compared to normal people and it's like oh you're still pretty tall you're just not seven feet tall yeah okay i forget where we started on that one but do you feel good yeah yeah yeah okay okay um okay cool yeah it's my turn sorry no it's my turn what i thought you just went to the vikings no you did the vikings i didn't yeah what was the headline of that one it wasn't me no that wasn't oh my god okay okay you've only done one story i've done one story oh i thought this was your second story how did we get to the vikings the quote The Packers.

31:50Victoria:Yeah, how did we get to the Packers? I don't know. All right. Anyway, moving on. Story number three, Josh Jacobs and Jonathan Cooper's arrest details were both shared on national broadcast this weekend. And I think it's fabulous that the details are being shared. So if you didn't know, Josh Jacobs is on the Packers. Jonathan Cooper is on the Broncos. And they are both in active cases and both on the commissioner's list for, it's a do not play. I can't remember what the actual commissioner's list is. But they're still being paid, but they're not allowed to. Commissioner's exempt list, I think, is something like that.

32:46Victoria:But their details of their arrests and legalities were shared online. So ESPN Monday Night Football with the Broncos and the Chiefs sideline reporter Laura Rutledge highlighted Cooper's status early in the fourth quarter. He is facing a felony assault strangulation charge and three misdemeanors following domestic violence related arrests that occurred within a seven day span in June. Um, he pleaded not guilty to all charges and jury trial has been scheduled to begin on November 10th, 2026. Um, he is barred from practicing or playing while the legal process unfolds, though he continues to receive his base salary while on the commissioner's exempt list.

33:31Victoria:Then, um, we had Josh Jacobs. I believe I heard this on Red Zone, actually. Um, but he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges, battery and criminal damaged property stemming from a May altercation with his girlfriend. The league is utilizing legal maneuvers to obtain home surveillance footage from the incident before issuing a disciplinary ruling. So the NFL plans to interview Jacobs as a standard procedure under the personal conduct policy just before deciding on a final suspension, which people believe should be between three to six game insiders believe. So more than what the actual charges are, I think it's so fabulous that we are putting these on national news because social proof and social stressors, I think, will put pressure on some of these people to act more reasonably because not only is it your teammate and people who are seeing it, it's everyone and it's getting broadcast.

34:34Victoria:And I think it's a huge win for women. And the NFL is saying you cannot take part in misconduct, felonies, strangulation, battery assault against women and not have it seen by the people who support the NFL. So I'm like, I obviously don't want anybody to be in this situation. I don't want these men to even get themselves into the situation. But if they do, I think it's so important that we talk about it. And I think it's a huge win for the female audience in the NFL. Yeah, I thought it was absolutely savage to do, but I loved it as well. Like, it was a great point to put them on blast and to scare them straight, hopefully.

35:16Yeah.

35:17Victoria:Yeah. Just all of the players in general don't. Right. And it's like social accountability, right? Because like your family watches. Like, even if you're, I mean, I guess if you're suspended, like, and also those guys are probably sitting at home watching. right or i don't know kids are watching with a josh jacobs jersey on like you're you're disappointing them yes anybody in the nfl of just making mistakes like that like you you need to put it in perspective and yeah yeah i love the idea of so yeah i i mean yeah of course like you never want to hear it like we that news is like sad and depressing and hard to hear especially like as a woman especially like in a sport that we love watching and we like invest and invest our time and like invest our money our businesses like all these things around it but like it's it was shocking to hear it on the side of the field but i do think that the social proof is like going to be and the social pressure from it is going to be kind of kind of unmatched and it also makes everyone watching and who are like say that it doesn't matter or whatever like makes them kind of hopefully look at themselves in a new way so um right i could stay on my soapbox about this forever but we'll spare everyone because I think the girls listening probably have the same opinion I think that there was a couple there was at least one player who kind of came out on social media and wasn't like so stoked about it um then don't mess up yeah the the broadcast inclusion of these details drew public criticism on social media from former Broncos teammate Justin Simmons who are viewed the production crew should focus on the players on the field which like we are you got suspended because you committed a felony.

36:59Yeah. Yeah. Do you think a woman made that decision in the room?

37:04Victoria:I think I think I think women pushed for it. But I think one thing that's important to note is that men okayed it and men said yes. And I think that that's true. Like shows because I don't know how many female decision makers are at. I don't know who the final say is, right like the final say could be a woman and we don't know i don't know who the final say was but regardless the nfl is such a large organization and it had to not only go through the nfl but it also had to go through the broadcast providers so through espn and through is red zone espn no or is red zone they're there i think they're they're their own but yeah whoever ended up Yeah, whoever, oh, NFL Plus, I guess.

37:50Victoria:Whoever broadcasted it also had to, like, essentially okay it. Right, right. And whether that was like, I don't even want to think about this, run whatever you're going to run, or a yes, we should be doing this. People at the top who are making these decisions, which do affect women, are letting it through. And that is, like, so important. And, like, I do think that the NFL can be a leader in a lot of this. And so other companies may feel more comfortable if the NFL is doing something to take action when things like this happen in the workplace, you know. So. Right. Right. I think it's cool. And I think we should, you know, that like the people who okayed it really deserve recognition for like trying something new, even though that was probably super effing scary to put out.

38:40Right. And it doesn't mean we want to see it every week. We just, we don't want to see it. Yeah. We don't want these men committing crimes. Yeah.

38:51Victoria:We just want accountability for women to feel safe. And like if something happens to them, there is like justice for them. Right. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that brings me to my next one. Aaron Rodgers is trash. This guy. This guy. Talk about soapbox. This guy thinks he's on a soapbox. This guy lives on a soapbox. I just imagined him in one of those, like, soapbox cars in one of those races.

39:27I could see him down the hill. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. In Miami, they're hosting a— And they're crashing and burning. Okay, maybe not the burning bird. Okay, no, you're not.

39:37Victoria:Just crashing. Yeah, yeah, no, no, no, I got you, I got you. Miami is hosting one of those, like— Have you seen those like bicycling competitions where like there's like a little ramp and you have to like you like make a car? Oh, it's like, no, it's like you make a thing and it's supposed to fly. Yes. It's a Red Bull. Yeah. Red Bull. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And you're supposed to fly it. And they're having one of those in Miami on Halloween. I really want to go. Oh, you definitely have to go. Yeah. It's really crazy. Document it. Okay. So tell us more about Aaron Rodgers. I watched a little bit of that game, but not a lot of that game.

40:12Victoria:And I remember just watching it being like, what is happening here? OK, well, for the game. I he pulled out the wind somehow. I wasn't super impressed, but let's see. The score was OK. So they played the Falcons, right? Yeah. And last minute Tua was out. So they put in their third string Cooper Rush. and I don't know what they would have done if Cooper got hurt. I would imagine they would just give it to Bijan to just run the entire game. Like, can you imagine? What were they going to do? No idea. Just give it to Bijan. I saw something that like the backups, backups, backup is also the backup, backup, backup running back.

41:03Victoria:Like whoever that guy is, is like some type of like dual threat backup, which like at that point put him in. let's fucking go i it would have been entertaining yeah but they only won by a touchdown the steelers only won by a touchdown like yeah okay like what just makes me bad um sorry depth chart i was looking at the atlanta depth chart because i don't know how long tool will be out yeah or michael pennix they are both questionable this week um yeah jack strand i don't even know who that is is the fourth string so they are carrying four quarterbacks it must be kind of lit to be a fourth string backup quarterback like you're just making cash hanging out but when the first when the first three go down then you're like oh shit i actually have to play yeah But like how often does that happen?

42:00Victoria:Did you know in hockey, they have like a designated goalie in every city or like every team? And then like if you're both your goalies or all three of them go out, this like random guy who like may or may not play hockey still like goes in. Right. Plays like beer league hockey. Maybe. Yeah, there's like, I think the Dallas Stars had that happen. And it's like, or my, I don't know, my sister like knows. In the NHL playoffs, team do not use civilian emergency backup goalies from the stands. Instead, they're handled by minor league extra roster players known as black aces. Okay, but I think in regular season, they do use, they have like a full name like an acronym an nhl backup goalie an ebug emergency backup goalie not on a team's roster but attends um but attends the games that is so crazy often limited to watching the action from the stands and then returning to their full-time job but a select few have been called into action david ayres is the only ebug to enter a game as a substitute and be credited with a win in february 2020 he's also the oldest nhl goaltender to win a regular season debut emerging victorious at 42 years and 194 days old for his stellar performance airs received a hockey card interesting okay then there's like a list ebugs who have played in regular nhl games april 8th 2023 jet alexander for the toronto maple leafs uh 2023 matt berlin on the oilers Thomas Hodges on the Ducks.

43:45Victoria:There's a David Ayer as the Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes. All of those are between December 2016 and today. Fascinating. Okay. Anyway, tell me, let's talk more about Aaron Rodgers fucking. All right. So besides the game, he had done an interview where he kind of bashes his exes. and and the things he was saying you got some quotes for us absolutely sent me and i will tell you i'll give you the timeline after i'll tell you what he said and then i'm fired up um so he said i dated two women who nobody gives a fuck about unless they drop my name and they like to say their version of the history of what happened.

44:40And so I'm just this monster of a partner and it's just effing horse stuff. So first of all, two women that nobody gives a fuck about. Okay. Sorry, I have to... No, that's okay. You can say. Okay. Who he's referring to is Shailene Woodley, who is a very well-known actress who has been acting since her young childhood in the 90s. Objectively more famous than Aaron Rodgers. Exactly. And they dated 2021 to 2022. They got engaged in 2021. And they called off their engagement in February 2022. Okay, that's one. The other one that he was referring to, Danica Patrick, NASCAR driver. Sorry, guy. I think they're a little more famous than you were, Aaron.

45:38Like, are you kidding? No, that's I did not realize that they were.

45:42Victoria:I mean, I didn't know this story until you sent it to me. But I didn't know that those were the two women. That's like to say that the only time that they get like press or whatever he said is when they talk. Nobody gives nobody gives an F about them unless they drop his name is what he said. He's like really go like it's like concerning. Like I I'm all for people like staying until they're ready to go ish. But I really think that he should have. He's like in a true midlife crisis. I think he's in a cult. I think he's starting his own cult. You know, I could see that actually. Yeah. I think that's his retirement plans.

46:21Victoria:He's like really going like nuts. And then I mean, I always just come back to him saying that he wants like a very private life. But then he keeps doing stuff like this. And so I don't know how often he said he wants a private life, but I feel like it feels often to me. Or maybe I just regret similar articles. But I don't know. It's just very weird. It's making me feel weird inside. Yes. I'm not even going to mention about his other politics about it. This just alone is enough. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and then I think people still like if you have like one weird interview every two years, it's like, OK, you're just kind of like a weird guy, whatever.

47:07Victoria:But like he's coming in a hot this season because Pat McAfee show was like a month ago. Like that was in in training camp right before preseason. So like six weeks ago. Like. He's I think it's really sad because he is like fully damaging his very excellent reputation as a game changer in the NFL. and people like there's a lot of men who are going to remember him for his prime but there's a lot of other people especially given how many new fans international and from the female audience have flooded towards the nfl like he is to me i don't care about him like i don't i didn't watch the nfl when he was famous like at all like i don't know aaron rogers at any kind of godsend capacity at all and so this i'm just like you're just a weirdo and you're making people uncomfortable like watching you makes me uncomfortable and I don't like it and therefore I don't want to watch your team at all yeah because I think you're weird and it's freaking me out he is angry all the time on the field like when I watch him he's just always mad at everybody else like it's not him it's not him it's always the receivers yeah and that that's it's so messed up and also he had another he i don't know if this is the same interview but he said um so mina kimes threw shade at him because he said um how he wants to okay that's a hard reflect on roger's comments about his future retirement at the end of this season and being with his pregnant wife okay first of all his wife's not pregnant he's talking about starting a family and he's referring to his wife is pregnant he's just saying it's such a weird way to say it just like i don't know it's like it's like even just hearing about even just like chatting about this briefly i'm like i i don't i don't want to talk about it anymore like he's like your friend's ex-boyfriend that you like hate that your ex their friend keeps bringing up and you're like can we just talk about anyone else yeah this guy like yeah i we have enough reasons to uh disapprove i think yeah um okay on the Steelers note though um TJ Watt just he's now in like the there's like two guys who have had 10 defensive touchdowns and 10 and 100 interceptions or something like that he got a huge stat this weekend I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure he had a pick six this weekend um yeah so I think if we talk about the Steelers we should just talk about him yep I agree yep he seems like a stand-up guy yeah so yeah i i don't know there's a couple teams that it seems really hard to be a fan of this season and it's not just because they're bad because there's like one thing about your team be like kind of sucking and then there's other like social things that like i feel like as a woman makes it really hard to like want to be a fan of you um yeah my last story of the day the chiefs absolutely crushed the broncos this weekend kansas city 31 denver 10 including two bo nicks fumbles, multiple turnovers, and the Chiefs are putting extra men in the huddle so that the other team doesn't know where they're going to go.

50:25Victoria:So this was kind of crazy. Patrick Mahomes first game back since his week 15 ACL LCL tear, two touchdowns, looks comfortable. Kenneth Walker ran 23 times for 173 yards and a score. Travis Kelsey, three catches, 71 yards in his first regular season game this year obviously and then Taylor Swift and Tom Cruise were there but I think that Bo Nix like it was really did you watch it uh-huh of course it was like brutal to watch like it was so it was so ugly it was really bad like because yeah like the Broncos were so good last year and I don't really think that the Broncos and the Rams are the same to me where I'm like the Rams are a little bit messy like I think the Broncos still kind of have something really good but I think Bo Nix was so stressed out about his ankle since he was in a non-contact injury I think that really messed with him and then going into Kansas City as game one coming off of a major loss and a non-contact injury for Bo was like brutal and then to have him just like crushed It was rough.

51:32It was painful to watch. And my friend texted me that he saw a tweet and it said, Bo Nix broke his ankle and now his hands don't work. Oh. But it's true. It's like he just lost. I don't know. He just lost the ball so many times. It was so weird. It was bizarre.

51:55Victoria:Yeah. And it's weird because Patrick Mahomes was out for a long time. Bo was not out for a long time, but I do think that it's like the non-contact injury of it all. Like, did you see that the Giants, like, Harbaugh ran into somebody who was coming off of an injury? I can't remember who it was, but he, like, tackled him because he's like, he's nervous about getting back on the field. It was neighbors. Yes. Yeah. And he's actually going to tackle him and then he'll just, like, get over it. It was so cute. And I think, like, so that needed to happen to Bo Nix. And then I think once he realized that he felt uncomfortable, maybe he just like lost it.

52:30Yeah. But he also looked super calm. Like, I don't know. He didn't look like he was panicking, but maybe he just needed his drive back.

52:41Victoria:Yeah. I also think like there's like fight, flight and freeze when you're stressed. Like I'm a freezer. So like if I'm going through something stressful, I want to like, I like blank and I will all like need to take a nap. Like I like retreat. That's me. Oh, really? Yeah. I need a nap. I just like go blank. And so I think he could be the same way. And actually, this is a super hot take and I need to do this fast because we only have like five minutes. But I think that West Wilson is a freezer and that's why he's so, so, so bad on the reunions. And I don't like West Wilson and I don't condone anything that he did.

53:17Victoria:And I think like a lot of what he says is like just dating him seems absolutely terrible. But I think that he's a freezer and that's why he's so bad on reunions and people get so mad at him because he cannot come up with the words to say. Right. In that moment, he can't he can't say how he's feeling, even if he tries like psychologically. And I kind of get that. And that's why he's so bad on reunions. And he would be much less hated if he didn't have that response. Because in reunions, people expect you to like say your piece and stand up for yourself. But if you're a freezer like us, you like can't.

53:49Victoria:Right. He saves it for his podcast. Yeah. But she's not back on that podcast. Oh, I know. Oh, my God. We have to talk about that next week. OK. Let's do our last story. OK. So, yeah. Last story. The Bash Bros are back. Have you ever seen? Have you seen Mighty Ducks? No. No. OK. Well, for those of you that have seen Mighty Ducks, they Scadaboo. Is it Scadaboo? or Scadaboo? Scadaboo-key. Scadaboo-key and Darts just remind me of the Bash Bros from Mighty Ducks. And their bromance is adorable. I love the bromance that they have for each other. Scadaboo showed up wearing Darts high school jersey. Are you kidding?

54:37So cute. I mean, I won't say they're cute. I just think their bromance is cute. Yeah. like kim's guy makes me nervous exactly but he's like a a bull in a china shop bull yeah yeah bull in a china shop bull in a shop yeah like he just seems like a wrecking ball um but he yeah he's yeah they're back and they be they're back they showed up is a lot of people were surprised that

55:08Victoria:they beat the cowboys but i wasn't that surprised because the cowboys that got a good season last year but like the cowboys aren't invincible by any means and the cowboys defense don't so so i just thought it would be a little closer um and i thought it would come down to the wire but it like didn't i don't know giants just looked good overall and yeah bringing the defense that was huge yeah it was like fine game though like 28 to 20 yeah yeah it was it was exciting for sure one thing we must talk about the queen page to zorbo was at the giants game oh that's right in her little red track jacket.

55:42Victoria:In her red, a red windbreaker. Was it windbreaker? Okay, yes. I think it is a windbreaker. I think it's the YSL windbreaker that like Hannah borrowed or something. I think that was like the whole lore of the windbreaker. If you can't tell, obviously we listened to Giggly Squad. We are gigglers. We are. But she was there and I think that's super interesting in general for fashion around the NFL because Paige Desorbo would never wear half of the merch that exists in Never. the NFL world. And it kind of like solidifies, I feel like her relationship with Joe D 'Amelio, who is a, he's like something at Clutch Sports Group.

56:21Victoria:Okay. Yeah, I think he's like the president of football at Clutch Sports Group or vice president of football. Oh, cool. Yeah, over there, which is, I believe it's the same place that agent Nicole Lynn, aka like the best agent in the league who gets the record-breaking deals for literally everyone. I'm pretty sure that's where she works. as well. I would love if she started her own football line, like Erin Andrews. I know. I know. Kyle, you check's wife? Yeah, Kristen. Kristen. Yeah, Joe D 'Amelio is SVP, head of football marketing at Clutch Sports. Okay, nice. Yeah. I think she would do a fabulous line, but I do think that one of the issues that happens is that the people who invest in sportswear lines are people who have been in the sportswear business for a long time and then we get the same regurgitated stuff or hyper trendy things that don't look good on normal bodies and that's a hot take because I do love like women in doing more merch and I think it's getting so much better and so much more beautiful but I also think there's like a lot of room to go grow and so I would want her to like kind of go outside of the normal investor groups that are backing a lot of these like larger brands to actually get something yeah or or just team up with one of the girls already doing it too yeah yeah she could like a way like a agent nicole lynn on the wear by erin andrews yeah yeah that'd be sick yeah that'd be cool yeah okay well oh go for it i was just gonna say one more thing um mike tomlin smiles i don't know if you knew that tomlin i love watching him I love this.

58:01We saw so many pearly whites from him. It was so cute. I know. Compared to last year, he's just like so angry all the time. Yeah, I'm happy for him. He looks happy.

58:13Victoria:Okay, well, I'm off to go watch a different sport now. Go baseball. Go baseball. Yeah, I love baseball, and I feel like I have to root for Detroit because we're going to be rooting for Detroit on Thursday. Pick Six: The Highest Scoring Week One Ever, and See You in Buffalo

Episode description

Week one tied the record for the highest-scoring opening weekend in NFL history, and Victoria and JoJo are yapping about it. Plus: Carson Wentz leading a historic Vikings comeback; arrest details for Jonathan Cooper and Josh Jacobs read out on national broadcasts; Aaron Rodgers and the two women "nobody cares about"; Bo Nix's rough night in Kansas City; and the Bash Bros are back in New York.
