And this week we have just an insane amount to talk about. I'm so excited for this week going through the notes. This is probably the most fun episode we have in store and the most fun week of the NFL. Yeah. Agreed. Week five was intense. Came in hot, left our jaws on the floor. I think this is why football has an allure because you literally never know what's going to happen. Like the left turns are crazy. It is. It is. No one can predict the amount of teams that lost.
0:43I know we're going to get into it in this episode, but like the Jaguars losing to the Chiefs was not on my 2025 bingo card. So that's just like losing to the Jags. Oh yeah. Sorry. The Chiefs losing to the Jags. That was not on my 2020 bingo card. So that's enough to say at least. That's that. So we're doing a huge yap and recap today. We're going to recap week five things that happened. So if you only follow your team, we're going to give you a rundown of what went on on other teams. We have some hot takes from the girls. We have Joe Flacco going to the Bengals. We have assault question mark. What?
1:19And a lot of pop culture, including Giovanna's Dua Lipa experience. So So I'm so excited to talk about that. Can't wait. So let's get into it. Quick week five recap for you. There are no perfect teams in the NFL. The idea of a perfect season is officially dead. D-E-A-D, not D-E-D. It does not exist anymore. The Bills, the perfect King Josh Allen-led sexy Bills lose to the Patriots. Who even are the Patriots this season? I think the world forgot about them, but nobody forgot about Bill Belichick who is losing in college football. And it's really sad. Young girlfriend, horrible team. Anyway. Don't even get me started on Bill Belichick.
2:09He sucks right now. And the girlfriend's a problem. Like she's kind of a big problem. It's a whole situation over there. Hey, but I will, I will say the Patriots, they have Drake, man, quarterback, and he is going to be, he's going to be someone we're watching the next couple of years. I think he's really good. So I'm excited for this Patriots team. And I have a friend that just got drafted to the Patriots. So I'm low key rooting for them. You know what? We love a friend. We love rooting for a friend. We love seeing a come up, even from a Patriots team who have dominated for so many years. But the Patriots, they're back at the party.
2:46You know, they left, went outside on the porch for a little while. They are back at the party. So the Patriots beat the Bills. Bills are four and one. Patriots three and two. 49ers squeeze out a win over the Rams. The Rams and the 49ers are tied. Kyron Williams usually has good press, wide receiver for the Rams. Incredible at his job. Pretty classy in the media. Great guy. Fumbles. Is all press good press? I don't know. But he fumbles, which essentially leads to the 49ers winning. So even without George Kittle, Brock Purdy, and Nick Bosa, the 49ers, 3-2. But what is going on over there? It's crazy.
3:26I will say you have a backup quarterback in. Then on top of that, you still don't have Juwan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall, who are wide receivers on the 49ers. So on top of the George Kittle and Joey Bosa injuries and Brock Purdy's injury, you have your two really good wide receivers out with injury. I will say not to toot my own horn I had a sneaky feeling Jake Tung I think it's Tung or Tunges T-O-N-G-E-S he's a Titan for the 49ers I picked him up last second because I believe they played Thursday night I picked him up last second was the first touchdown of the game and finished with 17 points so let's go sister not gonna lie that was that was a sleeper tight end pickup for me this week in my fantasy but yeah honestly shout out to the 49ers I like every single week I'm like how are they gonna do it how are they gonna do it how are they gonna do it and they do it with despite all the adversity in the league which I think tells a lot about the character of this team and how like it's really like neck span at mentality no matter what the circumstances are.
4:37And I love that about the 49ers. I love it because I feel like men love to talk about the depth chart, which I just think is like the crazy, I don't know. It's so funny to me. And I know it's like very well known. And I know people like love to talk about the depth chart, but I think that the 49ers are not a team that we would have been like, they have a great depth chart, but every single player who's stepped up is just stepped up, which is insane. And on a complete side note, So Debo at the commanders, just smashing it, smashing it. Mind you, he was questionable. Like I picked up Zach Ertz also in one of my leagues because Terry McLaurin, which is why I was here for the commanders, was also supposed to be out.
5:23And Debo was like questionable throughout the week. And so I'm thinking Terry and Debo aren't going to play. Debo becomes healthy maybe, I think, a day or two before the game. and then, like you said, smashed it. So shout out to him. So anyway, 49ers squeeze out a win after the Kyron Williams fumble 26-23. Also, who is Mac Jones? Excuse me? You're like, I'm sorry. I don't know who Big Mac Daddy Jones is, but Mac Jones is coming in hot. And I'm never using that name for him again. Do you see his outfit? No. His outfit walking. Okay. So I was not particularly a fan of it, but basically it was like a suit and half of it was red.
6:15Half of it was black. Okay. However, I love a well-dressed man. Okay. I'm from San Diego. It's one of the hardest things about dating in San Diego is that people here just like, we don't like, who are you dressing up for? We're going to the beach after work. Like people just don't dress up. So you don't see like a well-dressed man. And I think that's what's one thing that I like love about a city. And Mac Jones made a comment and said, I'm going to work. So I'm wearing a suit. And I was like, that's hot. No, he kind of like, okay, this is crazy. Do you know what a little boo-boo is? Yeah, everyone knows what a little boo-boo is.
6:53Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Mac Jones kind of reminds me of a little boo-boo. No. Like just a little bit. Just a little. like just a little bit like he kind of like holding that in for the last five hours no i don't know the outfit like the idea was there but i think it gave me an ick that i can't shake and now i think he's a little boo-boo he doesn't like quite the toothy smile i think that's what it is it's the toothy smile for sure like that kind of gives the little boo-boo energy
7:36that's crazy
7:41anyways is something you can just hang on your purse I mean he's hanging on to the 49ers he's hanging on to the 49ers purse real good right now he's winning games and you're right he's clipped on he is and he's not coming off He's doing his job. Yeah. Good for him. Honestly. Good for him. Good for him. Okay. So he was round one pick, number 15 overall in the 2021 draft. He was on the Patriots from 2021 to 2023, then went to the Jags and now is on the 49ers with an$8 million,$8 million-ish, two-year contract with just under$5 million guaranteed. he has completed 66.7 % of his passes, but is three and one in his starts for the 49ers.
8:38Apparently there has been some trade rumors and other coaches have kind of been calling the 49ers for Mac Jones, who the rumors are the 49ers have just put down the phone. So that's an interesting rumor is going around no factual evidence on that, but it is some rumors I've seen on social media. So Mac Jones is being looked at. And I saw an opinion piece saying that the Patriots really slept on him when maybe they shouldn't have. So super interesting with Mac Jones. Speaking of spooky, though, because we are in October, Mac Jones apparently saw a dead body floating in the river outside of his hotel before the game.
9:23Okay. We got to talk about this. because the first I energy that is labubu energy honestly energy honestly okay but the first I've heard about this if you're watching this you need to you need to respond also maybe get sponsored by labubu I don't know no literally I okay okay okay oh mac jones labubu we're just gonna lean in Matt Jones Labubu, red and black suit, spooky season, but then with like a little 49ers emblem and then a little football in the back of his jacket. Wait, that's actually that eats. I would use it on my purse. That eats. Who makes Labubus? Instead of NFL X Crocs, we're talking about this partnership in another episode.
10:13NFL X Labubu. No, the hair though, the hair that they could get on these Labubus. like it might be worth it. Some people with like dreads that like pick up and stuff under their helmet. You got the guys with the flows. It might be worth it. Oh my God. That is crazy. Okay. We need to move on. Cowboys, the record two, one and one win over the sad boy jets. I'm so sad about the jets. I can't even talk about it, but you guys already know that. If you've been listening to the show, the Colts, Colts, you're Colts or show girl right now. The Colts are the showgirl of the NFL. Win 40 to 6 over the Raiders.
10:58The Raiders, I don't even know what's going on. Panthers beat the Dolphins. I've been telling you about the Panthers. Okay, I'm just saying. Eagles lose. Chargers lose. Saints win. What is going on? Ravens lose. The Ravens are one and four. Guys. They lose to the Texans who were doing absolutely nothing before this game. The Texans have backup running back three playing right now. Mind you, I played him this week and he only got two points. So it wasn't a really good play. They essentially have one good wide receiver on their team in Nico Collins. So for the Texans to come out beating the Ravens proves my point.
11:48and I said this in in our sub stack chat chat Lamar Jackson is not going to win a Super Bowl with this Ravens team it's just not going to happen they have to do a lot of changes this Ravens team is not that talented and to go and lose to the Texans who aren't a great team and you lost pretty badly that says a lot and yes you are quarterbackless but I don't know. It's rough. A 44 to 10 loss. I am. I like the Ravens. I've been saying this whole season, I like the Ravens. I like them. I also like the team. Like, I don't necessarily think they're a bad team. I'm hoping that this is a rock bottom moment for them this season.
12:33And they pull it together. I do think that this could have been one of those flute games because we know it. We've seen the chiefs at their prime lose to a crappy team. So I don't think that the, that the Ravens are done, but I think that they need to hit a low point and somehow make a comeback or make a change. My thing is, we just talked about it. Mack Jones is backup quarterback for the 49ers and is still getting the job done and has a better record than the Ravens. On paper, you would consider the Ravens a better team than the 49ers. The 49ers are dissipated by injuries and they're still winning games.
13:10The Ravens lose their quarterback And even before losing their quarterback, they were still losing games. Yeah. Crazy. It is crazy. So Chiefs Monday Night Football lose to the Jacksonville Jags. It's Trevor Lawrence's birthday. And Trevor Lawrence had an incredible, incredible game mentally and physically. He had two rushing touchdowns, including one where he just kind of like falls, like falls into the end zone. and like happens to get a touchdown because there's nobody around to throw the ball to. And they win. Chiefs are now two and three, Jacksonville four and one. We were not prepared for Jacksonville to do something.
13:57Then the Chargers loss is also pretty sad because the Chargers lose to the Commanders. Jaden Daniels is back for the Commanders. which is great for them, 27 to 10 on the game. But two things to point out about the Chargers game, 99-yard punt return by Ladd McConkie. If you have not watched this play, you have got to watch it because he's jiving, he's going, he's a running back for the Chargers. I mean, he's a wide receiver for the Chargers. But anyway, he's like dodging people. Then he does a full hurdle over a defender, like a full hurdle, like Olympic-style hurdles over a player in makes a touchdown.
14:41So that was just like an incredible, incredible play. And then Keenan Allen, 1 ,000 receptions. So he actually got to 1 ,003 receptions, but had his thousandth reception in that game, which is incredible. Speaking of Ladd McConkie, Ladd McConkie has been quiet like all season, like fantasy managers all over are like, what the heck? Like, like, Ladd McConkie's a very, very valuable player, especially when it comes to fantasy, but he hasn't been doing good. He had his best fantasy game to date, finishing with 14.90 points. So we'll see what he does next week. Yeah. Saints beat the Giants. Note there, Allie Ridgway, she was on an episode that we had, so go back and listen to her, but her outfit was just absolutely fire.
15:29She made a cute little squirt with her husband's name on it. Saints win, which is just so fun to watch your friends win. So go check out that episode and follow her on social so you can see her cute outfit. The only good matchup that I have of the week, obviously the Lions won. I'm a Lions fan. That's fantastic. But the Bucks Seahawks, great, great game. Bucks pull it out 38 to 35. Man, that was a game. I actually love that. like as kind of, I wouldn't say game of the week, but it was a good game. It was entertaining. I mean, yes, for sure. Okay, so that's your recap of week five of what's going on, all of the chaos.
16:14So to kind of wrap it up, four and one teams that we saw coming, Bills, Eagles, Lions, Bucks. Nobody's that surprised. Maybe a little bit of surprise on the Bucks, but not really. One of the girls in the chat, I asked for hot takes and she said Baker Mazel, which is funny. You know, like Mazel's like a little celebration. So she's calling him Baker Mazel, which I think is so cute and funny. And she's saying that he's currently the league MVP. So hot take. Hey, I don't completely disagree with that. Baker has easily been playing like a top five quarterback in the NFL right now.
16:57and this Bucs team I mean I talk about it every single week Peekabooka is on that team Mecca and Bucca rookie for the Bucs this year and they obviously have another a bunch of different role players on that team and then Baker is like the icing on the cake so I don't disagree with that statement at all you know I I think Baker is similar to the Eagles where he's doing his job and people aren't talking about it because he's doing his job. But maybe we should be. We should be having him in more of the conversations, which is interesting. Yeah. So we also have three teams that we did not see 4-1 from.
17:39The Colts. You guys know how I feel about this. The Colts led by the Queens. the Jags literally had no clue that was going to happen but Jags go off and the 49ers I mean so many injuries we didn't expect them to be four and one they are four and one and I think the other story is the Chiefs are two and three yeah third loss third loss last year was the Super Bowl yeah Yeah. Wild start to the season. Travis Kelsey turned 36 over the weekend, and he did have a touchdown catch, which I like to see people win on their birthdays. You know, even if the team didn't win, it was nice to see him get a little catch.
18:24You know, I think that was, like, I believe, I need a fact check, but I believe that was his first touchdown of the season. If I'm not mistaken, on his birthday. So that's special. What's interesting about the Colts and the Jags being our surprise two out of our three surprise four and ones is they're both in the AFC South. So the Colts and Jags right now, both four and one are essentially tied for first place in the AFC South. So I think that's very interesting. Mind you, the other two teams and their division are the Texans and the Titans. So yeah, that division is like, but still, yeah, they're tied and we didn't see it happening.
19:04We did not. Okay. Let's do some fantasy winners. It's getting hot in the fantasy world. A lot of girls were chatting over the weekend. So, so much fun. So if you're in living in a fantasy, keep setting your lineup winners for the one flex league and reminder, this is on the game, the podcast.com that will take you right to the leaderboard. So you can check it. It updates every Tuesday right now it is top 10 teams and it goes based off of points alone, not your record. We're looking at if we can load all of the data for every single team on there. So we'll see if that happens for next week. Okay.
19:41The names are so good. Real Housewives of the Red Zone. Yeah. I'm so glad you won because I love reading that name and I feel like it's perfect for the girls. Her name is Sophia and she's in the league Boston Tea Party, 193.56 points to win the entire league of 50 plus teams in the one flex spot part of the league. And then Jameer, I go again on my own, which immediately the song is playing in my head, which her username is Ldubs219. She is in the league. Here comes the sun god. So obviously probably a Lions fan with the Jameer. I go again on my own in the here comes the sun god Lions Girls League 194.82 points.
20:29So great job, girls. And thank you for making creative names for us to share and to inspire the girls for next year. Real Housewives of the Red Zone. Yeah. Real Housewives of the Red Zone. So cute. Real Housewives of the game. So cute. Maybe when we get married, we can do Real House Husbands of the game. We should. That'd be so funny. When we get married. We'll talk about my future husband later in the episode. Okay, let's talk some pop culture. So you went to the Dua Lipa concert. I did. And like Dua Lipa, mind you, like I don't really listen to music like that. I, when I do listen to music, it's like a spectrum.
21:10I can either be in a country mood, a gospel music mood, or like a hip hop mood or a pop mood. So it just depends. But Dua Lipa, I was actually pleasantly surprised when I went to her concert. I was like blown away by her I was like wow she is a performer and I got chills there was a part in the concert where I was about to sit down mind you I was wearing boots so it's like my feet hurt I'm gonna take a seat real quick so I sat down all of a sudden I see the stars the vest the pom-poms the boots and it's the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders I absolutely lost it so dearly but brings out DCC the one the only and she walks out in a Cowboys jersey so as a Dallas girl through and through it made my heart very happy it was her last night in Dallas she performed twice I went on the Wednesday concert so she performed Tuesday and Wednesday and so it was like a perfect way for her to go out and Dallas with a bang also paying homage to the Cowboys so love that which kind of controversial she actually performed at the American Airlines Center which is where the Mavs and the Stars play but she brought up the Cowboys cheerleaders and wore a Cowboys jersey so yeah but we know that like the Cowboys are iconic in a way that the Mavs and the Stars just aren't the stars are not but i will say the mavs and the stars do better than the cowboys which is kind of backwards but it's okay i love a stars game i used to live when i lived in dallas i went to like a decent amount of stars game i love a star there so yeah i so i really want to like try to get like season tickets for like half mavs half stars like that's like my dream yeah it's my dream so fun oh my god that's my dream for you but shout out to do leepa thank you for bringing dcc out and thank you for repping the boys i appreciate you you probably helped us she was like a good luck charm and getting a win this weekend so appreciate it on the music note bad bunny announced that he is playing at super bowl halftime and i think more interesting than the announcement is the uproar, the drama that has been created on the internet.
23:39So let's set the record straight. Bad Bunny is a U.S. citizen and Puerto Rico is a United States territory. So let's just start with that. That one fact. Mind you, there's also been there's been a plethora of like Puerto Rican artists before him that have also co-headlined or headlined the Super Bowl. Yes. And there's been plenty of non-U.S. citizens. I love it. I'm excited. I personally think so. This is interesting for one main reason to me, and I'm kind of interested to hear your opinion on this. So the NFL has had a mostly male, very, I don't know what the words that I want to use for this are, but like seemingly white male dominated audience.
24:39And I think that the NFL is currently going through a cultural renaissance. And I think that Bad Bunny is a part of that. And I think that the NFL is trying to rebrand, in a sense, and get away from a white masculine, we are the men, this is boys and beer and whatever. And, you know, that status. Yeah. And I think that they are trying to increase viewership, probably on the money front, but increase viewership. And the reason why I think that the NFL behind closed doors is talking about a somewhat of a renaissance is they hired a fashion editor, Kyle Smith. I DMed him this morning to see if he would come on.
25:36So he is the official style editor for the NFL. And what are you doing when you're looking for a style editor? You are appealing to women. they put Taylor Swift on the screen more than any other wag has ever been on the screen. Yeah. But in doing so, they are attracting a feminine audience. So we can be mad that like Simone Biles is not on the screen more often. I want to see her every single week. I'm obsessed with Simone Biles. I want to interview Simone Biles. She is at the top of women I would love to interview on this show. But the NFL choosing to put Taylor on the screen so often to collaborate posts is saying we want women to come in, which is in support of women, after something like Harrison Butker comes out and says some crazy things about women.
26:31And then the NFL is responding, essentially, without directly responding, but responding and saying, we're putting the most famous woman in the world on the screen, which is going to attract other women, which essentially drowns out the noise. Like, the noise of a thousand women, just one thousand, but we'll say, like, the noise of a million women is way louder than the noise of one jerk kicker. Yeah. And so I think that that's really interesting. Yeah. And then also the Christian Juszczyk partnership for her designs to be available with other NFL merchandise on, I'm pretty sure it's on NFL.com.
27:13So I think that that partnership also kind of substantiates this renaissance. And then finally, the NFL doing more games in what Brazil is where they start? They started this year in Sao Paulo. Yes. Yes. OK, so them booking that in for multiple years, plus going to Ireland and London. The NFL has to make a statement to say we are not what we used to be. We are open-minded to other people being interested and welcoming tons of other people into our sport as a means of expansion. And I love it. Yeah. Because if you want to go to other countries, if you want to go to Spain, having a Spanish-speaking performer is going to bring in everyone from Puerto Rico.
28:08It's going to bring in a lot of Hispanic people who Spanish speaking people, people from Spain and Portugal, all of these people who have never cared about the NFL in their life are now having eyes on the NFL. And I think that if the NFL is closed minded, they will lose every single viewer. And so they merely have to be open minded, which whether it's for money or not, is a really gorgeous thing. I think for a country that is so separated at the moment and like a world that feels so separated at the moment. My final point on this, because I've been ranting for a little while, is that Bad Bunny has outwardly spoken against Trump.
28:45And I'm not making any political statements at the moment, but I just think that it's interesting in a way that the NFL is saying we are going to make independent decisions. Well, I mean, you saw Kendrick Lamar's halftime performance last year. There was a lot of political and like beef with Drake in general. that was like part of it but there was some political driven statements in his performance too so after seeing that i think that was probably strategic as well yeah exactly so i think to your point like the end of the all is like yeah give let's give these guys a platform because like we don't care which is interesting yep because we are our own organization who makes our own decisions and we can do what we want and we want to expand.
29:33So I think there's a renaissance going on. I would love to hear opinions from other people on what they think and what they think of the decision for Bad Bunny. He's one of the most famous musicians in the entire world. And so even if he's not a household name to you, that doesn't mean that he's not a household name to everyone else. So I think it's interesting. I think the entire thing, the addition of women and addition of other countries and the addition of a mostly Spanish speaking singer is awesome. It's new. So I'm really excited for it. It's fresh. It's fun. It's exciting. Like, yes, I do think a lot of people maybe wanted Taylor Swift, maybe wanted some other people, but I think what Bad Bunny brings to the table is exactly what I said.
30:18It's fresh and it's new and it's exciting. Like, I don't think there's ever been a male Spanish speaking primary headliner at Super Bowl. So I'm excited for that. And I think it'll be good. Like, I think it'll be good. I think it's going to be incredible. I think Bad Bunny is incredible. He has to smash it. Like, he doesn't have any other choice. Like, he has to smash it. I, yes. I'm also hoping that we see something vastly different because I feel like every performer for the last like five to seven years has done something very similar with their show. And so I'm wondering how is Bad Bunny gonna do it?
31:00Because Bad Bunny's fearless in my eyes. Bad Bunny is like a fearless guy from what I've like seen of him and seems like really great. And so I'm just curious with somebody who is kind of outwardly fearless and seemingly very self-assured, what is he going to do that's non-traditional? Like, are we going to see the same mashups with a big stage and a bunch of dancers and he's coming down from the thing and we hear nine different songs and there's a switch at some point and everybody talks about what songs he didn't do? Like, are we going to do that same thing again? Or are we going to see something?

31:37I think it's like, I think it, mind you, Bad Bunny was on Happy Gilmore 2. dude like this man is acting he's sick he's just a funny guy in general like him on snl i believe he was just on snl last saturday but he's a genuinely funny guy so i think this performance like if he does it to the way that i hope he does it too it's gonna be a mixture of like his personality with all of his favorite songs mind you like let's be so for real if you go to any if you go to out on the weekends you go to any bar or any club the chance of you hearing a bad bunny song is very likely so you might know at least one or heard of at least one or two songs when you like listen to his performance yeah yeah gonna be you've you've heard it even if you don't think that you have you've heard at least one and you can bop around in music even if you don't know the words.
32:32That's fact. Yeah. So also on the music note, they had Miles Smith, who's the guy who sings stargazing, which has been super famous on TikTok and Instagram over the last year. He played in London in one of the last two weeks. And when I was at the Chargers game, they had a singer at halftime. I didn't know the singer or the rapper, but Chargers Broncos, they had one because Chargers don't have cheerleaders. So I'm really curious, like what is going on in that conference room that's discussing this revival and their, you know, mashup with the music industry? Because now we have Stefan and Cardi, Taylor and Travis, Olivia and Christian, Josh and Haley.
33:23Madison Beer and Justin Herbert. Yes. I didn't know who Madison Beer was. I'm not going to lie until Justin Herbert. And then I was looking her up the other day. So I'm like, that's super interesting to me. I think there's some tea between Madison Beer and Jackson Dart. No, I think so too. Because wasn't it like, I'm pretty sure that Jackson Dart posted on his story, a picture of Madison Beer and then deleted it. Yeah. And so I'm like, are Jackson Dart and Justin Herbert friends I mean I highly doubt it was that supposed to go to his close story like not the not the main the close the close friend story I don't know but that's interesting to me because I also like maybe I haven't been paying attention but I feel like they hard launched this past weekend because like ESPN posted them and like that's very much of a hard launch so yeah even if they didn't know that was gonna happen but if you go to the game and you're kissing on the sidelines like people are yeah especially like justin herbert's like hot you know justin herbert is like a hot and like madison beer is like gorgeous yeah stunning i mean she's she's everything yeah so i'm i'm kind of interested to see how this progresses just music times the nfl but we do have a little more recapping to do so we just got news we're recording this on Tuesday around noon Pacific that Joe Flacco is going to the Bengals.
34:53A Joe replacing Joe, life of a showgirl, Joey B out with the turf toe-ee and Joe Flacco, daddy Flacco in to do what he does best. Be a dad and save the day. Take control. Man, what a storyline. Like the In fact, we talked about this last week and I said this last week because you were like, I don't know after this season. I don't know where Joe Flacco is going to go. And I was like, yeah, Joe Flacco is still going to be in the NFL primarily because teams are going to need a veteran quarterback that beat Brady and that's been due to the Super Bowl. And that is exactly what Joe Flacco has done. And so this move doesn't surprise me.
35:34The Bengals need some help. Is Joe Flacco perfect? Heck no. Like he's thrown the interceptions. He's been injured. And what scares me about this move, I will say, the reason why Joe Burrow is hurt right now is because the Bengals offensive line is not the greatest. Like the reason why Joe Burrow is hurt is because he gets sacked like six times in a game, which is unheard of. So with Joe Flacco... Unless you're Lamar Jackson. Against the Lions. Yeah. Too soon, too soon, too soon. But Joe Flacco stepping into this position behind the Bengals offensive line, like he's older than Joe Burrow. So what are those injuries going to or what are we going to see with that in terms of him possibly getting sacked if his whole line doesn't play to the level that they need to play?
36:29So that's what I'm looking out for. But I do think this is a smart move for the Bengals. They needed to get rid of Jake Browning. I'm sorry. The fact that Jamar Chase and Chase Brown, wide receiver and Jamar Chase and running back and Chase Brown for the Bengals, they're not seeing any volume. That's a problem because these kids are more than talented, not to mention Tee Higgins. And I said this last episode, too. So the Bengals needed to do something. Glad to have Joe Flacco in to hopefully save the day. Yeah, I think just the so I'm like a believer in energy. I'm not like a total hippie, but I do believe in energy and I do feel like game day.
37:08You can feel energy from the stands and the crowd. So I'm really interested to see this week when the Bengals play, how is the energy in the stadium? I think people are going to be very excited to to be there and to watch Joe kind of come in. They are playing the Packers this weekend, which is actually. Tough. A little scary. That's a little tough. Yeah. And I was I was interested to see if Joe Flacco was actually going to play. The Bengals have officially said that they are expecting to start Joe Flacco this weekend. So I don't know. I think the ability of Joe Flacco to see what's going on on the field over Jake Browning will benefit him because Jake Browning is just not as experienced.
38:00And Joe Flacco has a good mind. And so Joe Flacco is going to be able to see he knows exactly who to look for on that team in a way that Jake Browning probably didn't. So I think that that will protect him a little bit more, or at least he'll know when to throw it away. He'll know when to like scramble like he's just more aware. So I think that he is the better choice to go up against the Packers who started out the season very, very dominant and now are looking a little bit less dominant. but they still do have an insane defense defense right now. So that's super interesting to watch out for.
38:38I'm excited to see. I'm like excited to see what happens. I feel like I don't have any strong predictions, but I do anticipate that something's going to happen. Something's going to happen and the fans are going to be out here. The Packers are coming off a bye week as well. So the last game they played was against the Cowboys. That game went into overtime. That game resulted in a tie. They had a bye week this past week, and then they go and play now the Joe Flacco-led Bengals. So interesting storyline. Okay, so when I asked the girls for hot takes, so Izzy, I actually interviewed her, and that episode is going to come out on Friday.
39:20She is the creator of an app called Hi Frankie. And Hi Frankie is an app that combines astrology and the NFL. And so she had a hot take and it says, I don't know that Flacco is an upgrade from Jake Browning right now, with the exception that Flacco is more astrologically compatible with Jamar Chase than Browning was. Everyone's saying that the Bengals don't risk much, but what about the opportunity cost of exploring other great not washed up QB talent? I mean, what other great washed up QB talent is in the league? Like the only thing I think is available and is available. The only thing the Bengals could have done is maybe went after a QB 2 or 3 that's a rookie.
40:06But then again, all the teams that have rookie quarterbacks are currently playing them right now. Dylan Gabriel is starting for the Browns. Jackson Dart is starting for the Giants. Cam Ward is starting for the Titans. So all these rookie quarterbacks. Then you go into scary territory of the quarterbacks that were drafted late, but they're still on these teams. And so at that point, you're wondering, is it better to go get a rookie upside talent or go get a veteran that's proved himself before that's been playing this game for three plus years? Which I would go with the latter. Yeah, it seems like the perfect storm also.
40:43Like, I don't know if this trade would have happened if Joe Flacco had three instead of six interceptions. Like, would this trade have happened? I don't know. I don't know. I think it's like, I think it's the perfect storm. So. Yeah. It's going to be interesting. Joe, life of a showgirl. The show goes on against the Packers 125 PST on Sunday, the 12th. I cannot wait to watch. Same. Okay. Speaking of the Browns, so now Dylan Gabriel is QB1. Shadu or Sanders, QB2. The only quarterbacks on that Browns roster now, might I add. We started with five. now there's now we're down to crazy wow so dylan gabriel he completed 19 out of 33 passes throwing for 190 yards remember like if you're throwing 250 yards or more that's like a pretty dang good game for you so 190 yards oh decent game against yeah the vikings i'm remembering it now decent game against the Vikings in London over the weekend.
41:49They only lost by three. The Browns are one and four, but that game was decent. And I think decent enough for them to say, hey, Flacco, you can go somewhere else. We'll get a draft pick next year. He's on a$6.2 million four-year rookie contract. And he was the 94th overall pick, which is crazy. 94th overall pick is now QB1. what a story he has such an opportunity here so I don't know that I see anything where I'm like this is a guy that like needs it but I don't know we'll see how it goes he didn't play terrible I watched that game he didn't play terrible he played a decent game and I talked about Jake Jake Tung earlier tied in for the 49ers Harold Fannin rookie tied in for the Browns I started him in my other league, he was also score on the first drive for the Browns, Dylan Gabriel to Harold Bannon.
42:44So that was special for me to see. And again, Dylan Gabriel didn't play terrible. So excited to see what's in store for him. He's played a lot of college football. We talked about him a lot in our last episode. He has the experience. Like I will say he's kind of like the exception to the role when you think of like rookie quarterbacks. He played six years in college on three different college teams. And those three different college teams were like decent, like high, probably ranked college teams. So I really like Dylan Gabriel. And honestly, it's looking up for Chauder because now instead of quarterback three, he's QB two.
43:21So all it takes is Dylan Gabriel getting injured for him to get in the game. So that's kind of upside for Sanders over there too. Yeah, definitely. Did you see Deion Sanders like has blood clots in his leg? This is completely random. Yeah. So he, prior to the Colorado, the college football season starting, Deion Sanders is the head coach of Colorado, where Shooter and Travis Hunter, the wide receiver slash defensive player for the Jags, they both played in Colorado. But Deion Sanders was battling with, I think it was cancer or something before the season. They had surgery. He's now like, okay, now.
43:58He's came back in the group of things. But yeah, he's been going through some health issues a lot, which is sad to see, obviously, when an athlete of that stature kind of goes through health scares. And obviously, his family is constantly in the limelight. And he has a really valuable position. So I don't know. We'll see. I'm sure he's, I think he's going to be okay though. Yeah, really interesting. He was, he was seen wearing one shoe over the weekend. A coaching. Honestly, I wouldn't put anything past him. I don't know. I hope he's okay because yeah, I love, I love fearlessness as a personality trait.
44:40Do you know what they called him like in when he was playing football? No. His nickname was prime time. and so like now it's like it's like it's still like a shtick like it's like prime times here if you ever watch any of his press conferences yeah any of his press conferences any of his speeches with his team like he's very much prime time like it's him it's all about him he's the main character I love it I love it new thing that I didn't know so we have we have like a couple more left and then we'll wrap it up but thing that I didn't know there's two Josh Allens in the league crazy excuse me crazy.
45:17So the Jags, as I said, like kind of been a little irrelevant. Josh Heinz Allen, I mean, hyphenated last name, but Josh Allen, Josh Heinz Allen. He's a pro bowler. He is a defensive end on the Jags. He's 28. He has three kids. Also, if you don't know what the pro bowl is, which I don't know, there's like all team, all pro pro bowl, whatever, but pro bowl, pro Pro Bowl is an annual week-long all-star event that concludes the NFL season and features the league's top players, which are chosen by fans, players, and coaches. So essentially, it's a popularity contest and they compete in football challenges, flag football games, AFC versus NFC.
45:59So that's what the Pro Bowl is, but it is like an honor to get into the Pro Bowl because you are chosen as like a favorite among not only fans, but also teammates and coaches, which is a pretty big honor. So he is a pro bowler, but his eldest son, Wesley was diagnosed with leukemia and he recently, yeah. And he is now in remission, but his diagnosis was APML, which is curable with the right treatment, but affects like a very, very small amount of kids. But his wife, Caitlin and him obviously had to like manage all of that while managing being on an NFL team. And when I was watching the video of it.
46:39This was on the news the other day, but while I was watching the video, I was thinking back to Brooklyn Adams, which if you haven't listened to that episode, go listen to it. But her just saying that this can be a really lonely industry to be in. And I was just thinking about Caitlin, his wife, and how challenging that must have been while he was in season to get that diagnosis and be managing two other kids as well. So really, really sad. He's actually a captain on the Jags. Good for him. So Josh Hines Allen, we're really happy for you and your family. And I just think it's crazy that there's two Josh Allens that I didn't know.
47:13Yeah. While we're in the sad notes, we do have to cover the fact that there was an assault over the weekend. And Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon is trending because he hit running back Emory DeMarcado after Emory fumbles. And the staff apparently had to pull him away. And assault is assault. We hear a lot about domestic violence in women. There are multiple NFL players who have domestic violence assaults, assault charges. we see that kind of dealt with in the man on woman capacity. But assault is assault and you cannot, especially as a head coach, be hitting a player. It is absolutely unacceptable.
48:04I think that there needs to be action being taken. You cannot hit people. I don't care how mad you are. I don't care how much you're losing by. I do not care how your family brought you up. You cannot hit people. in private or in public. It is so unacceptable and it's so unacceptable. I feel upset about it. And I think that this is where accountability, especially in masculine men starts. You do not hit people. And I think that he needs to be held accountable in some capacity. And I think that he should have been held accountable whether it was on camera or not, but it was on camera. and people saw it and little kids saw it and little boys saw it.
48:51And if that is how you act in public against people that you supposedly love, then how are you acting behind closed doors? Like safety does matter and physical violence is just not the answer. So I don't care who you are. I don't care if you're a man or a woman or gender identity or masculine or feminine or whatever, assault is assault. Yeah. And assault in any capacity is assault. You cannot hit your players. That whole situation is tough because Di Mercado, mind you, their two number one running backs are out. James Conner for the Cardinals is out with the season ending injury. They had Trey Benson, who was running back number two.
49:40He now is placed on the IR for probably about a month. So then you have Michael Carter and Di Mercado, who are supposed to be like splitting this backfield, essentially playing in the running back situation for the Cardinals. Di Mercado is coming off of a 70-yard rushing touchdown. This man throws the ball like out of his hands before crossing the goal line. We have seen disputes that are passionate and angry and all this kind of stuff on the sideline lots of time in the NFL. I mean, we just talked about Travis Kelsey and Andy Reid getting into it the week prior. Am I excusing the behavior between the head coach and DiMarcano and like hitting?
50:33Yeah, I know. I'm not excusing that. I don't think like hitting someone violence is never the answer. however wait Giovanna I can help you because we are losing the point you can do whatever the fuck you want you do not deserve to get hit because of it ever ever ever and even like talking about what happened and how he went wrong and saying like I'm not excusing it is like pushing it to the side it has to be a period it has to be a period because like this is like safety and this is the way that you treat people. And we can talk about him doing that on a completely separate note, but they cannot be in the same conversation.
51:10And I like feel so passionately about this because we hear this behavior excused because of other bad behavior, but other bad behavior never, ever, ever excuses that type of bad behavior. Like we've seen it. You're right. We've seen Travis and Andy. So I think that we have to leave a period. And then if we want to talk about demarcato doing something stupid we can but it has to be a period and then a separate conversation because putting them together in some way invalidates the fact that there was a hit with like with some like intent no matter how mad you are you can't go there so yeah i guess i I haven't physically seen like the altercation between the coach, Andy Mercado.
52:02So like I can be like a little blinded to like how intense the situation was. But I also, again, I'm not excusing the behavior, but I also can recognize that in the NFL, from looking at it from like an NFL perspective and the guys that are in the NFL, that happens all the time. Players, teammates be hitting teammates. And then they're cool. We have to talk about it so then the example doesn't get set. I know, but I think it's different for a man, like for a man talking about it versus like a woman. Because I think as women, we're like empathetic to the situation. And I think that's a great thing.
52:45But these are just like social differences, right? Like because guys can like get into a fight and like hit each other and then be cool in the next five minutes. Is it right? No. Is it right? I'm not saying it's right, but I'm saying they're probably looking at it from that standpoint because guys are just wired emotionally different. This is a perpetuated problem, right? That like men are aggressive and that men can't handle their emotions and that men fight when they're mad. And it's just like that's it's just not OK. Okay, and two people being actively engaged in a fight against one another, both are hot and heavy, is a little bit different than player standing and getting hit on the sideline.
53:29On the field play, I do think there is a little bit of a different situation going on, but sideline to home play, we can't just say that men are wired aggressively. like it's just like we just cannot we just can't go there because it's just you if you are a man and you cannot handle your anger off of the field on the field do whatever but like off the field if you cannot handle your anger that is a sign to go to therapy that is a sign to deal with whatever you are not dealing with so that when you do get angry you are not taking it out on any other person. And so I, it just has to be a period that it's not okay.
54:14And it's not because men are aggressive on the field. I, I do agree on the field is different, but once you get to the sideline, you are basically out in public or behind closed doors or whatever. And excusing the behavior on excusing that behavior or accepting that behavior as masculine is like, I personally believe is toxic and perpetuating another generation of men who believe that it's okay to take out their anger in that capacity and not in a different capacity. Yeah, but I think that's part of the bigger issue because the NFL as a whole, football is a violent game and you can't say, oh, on the field, it's okay.
54:58But once you cross a white line, it's not okay anymore. like that's that is a little unreasonable for a human that's dealing with emotions and that's been dealing with like if you're hitting people constantly and you're getting your frustration out but as soon as you walk off the sideline you got to switch like that's just not natural but like but like hitting someone on the field and like being aggressive is different than hitting someone who's just standing there it might be different to you but it could it could be it people might not have that same mindset and so i think there has to be a little bit of but it's like okay okay but if there has to be like a little bit of grace to at least acknowledging and understanding the mindset and like the passion and the the things that are on the line when it comes to these games yeah but like how you would deal with conflict versus how people would deal with conflict could be different you know yeah but hitting is just never the answer and like i kind of believe that even on the field like if you take a swing at someone you shouldn't be taking a swing it's uncalled for no it's it's and again i'm not saying that like it's okay but i'm just saying if we're going to put men in the situation that we put them in and we're watching them for entertainment and we're saying like yeah go after the quarterback hit these people and the second a whistle blows you have to not do that anymore that's a hard thing mentally to go through like when you really think about it like as a man if i'm like in battle with somebody and then as soon as a whistle no like literally like imagine you're a gladiator and like you're sword fighting and you like are like on your fifth guy and you're trying to like slaughter him and like you're physically tired you're mentally tired and all you want to do is get to the finish line and this one guy's in the way from you.
56:55But as soon as that whistle stops, you got to be done. Like you can't hit him anymore. Like that's, that's mentally a mind, like that's crazy to think about. Yeah, but it's a mind game, but the precedent has to be that you have to be able to do it to be a professional, especially a coach in power because people watch people in power. And that is just a fact. I know that it's, I'm not saying it's not hard, yeah but i'm also not saying that there are not team psychologists that if you know that you're angry and you know that you can't turn it off then you go to that person and you figure it the fuck out okay i think we should move on it's like we get fired up i will say last thing online demercato is is being touted as the dumbest athlete right now so the last thing i'll say no that i mean that was bad as i drink my water it was bad it was bad it was really bad like the play alone we've seen this a million times get it together get it together it was it was pretty bad okay But moving on.
58:08Yeah. Bottom line, though, the NFL needs to do better on managing people's emotions and maybe give more resources to people. Yes. We can agree on that. Yes, we can. And this is why it's important to have women's voices in sports. Okay. Look how we just hashed that out. It was a Butterfingers weekend in the NFL. My favorite one. Titans at Cardinals. score is 12 to 21. Cardinals are winning. Thank God, not in their dirty uniforms. Cardinals are two and two. Titans are oh and four. Titans are sucking. Cam Ward, number one pick of the draft, throws it. His receiver fumbles. Cardinals recover, slips out of their hand.
58:55The ball is on the ground. It's such an ick. The men are like scrambling and like jumping around like it's a freaking piece of I don't even know what. and the Titans recovered in the end zone. Touchdown. Like I like watching the Titans just give me the ick now. Like I don't even pay attention to the Titans. And especially after we saw this whole situation happen in this game that we just discussed like I don't know. And you still manage to lose. Titans still manage to lose. No, Titans won. Oh, they did? Okay. Oh, that's right. They won by one. No, they won by one point. See, winning by one. So, yeah.
59:36In my brain, that's kind of still a loss. But yes, they did win by one point. That's so harsh. No, but like. You're like, you win by one, you still lose. Giovanna? The Cowboys got a jar. Hey, I will be the first person. The Cowboys lost last week when they tied with the freaking Packers. Like I am the first person that will not defend my team because trust me, that's a little different conversation. Winning by one can be your ick. That's fine. Yeah, it is an ick of mine, but they needed this win because if they didn't get this win, they would be like 0-5 right now. So yeah, they needed that win.
1:00:20They did need that win. Yeah. And that was just so crazy because it was both teams like just being a mess because the Cardinals are also like, it was just a disaster. Butterfingers all the way. Then Trevor Lawrence and the Jags also had a hot potato situation. Went off of my favorite player, Tim Patrick. Went off his hands. He's a wide receiver. Jacksonville is from San Diego. And went off his hands. Embarrassing. But I'll tell you it's okay.
1:00:57And she whispers. Goes off of two Chiefs players' hands. They like could have picked it off. It ends up dropping. It's an incomplete pass. But it was a hot potato mess. Yeah, it was iconic. I don't know if this is considered a better finger play, but like, and this is going to be talked about until the next week of football is concluded and we have other things to talk about. But Trevor freaking Lawrence, last play of the drive. 30 seconds left in the quarter, in the game. The Jags are down. They need to score a touchdown here in order to win. They have to score a touchdown to win. Trevor Lawrence, they snap the ball.
1:01:34The ball, Trevor Lawrence receives it, falls down, trips over his offensive lineman, gets up, falls down again, gets back up. One yard rush into the end zone. That, the announcer said it. The announcer said it. That single-handedly was probably the best one yard rush out of a quarterback we are going to see for a long. No, this man fell twice, got up and got in the end zone. Mind you, Chris Jones, I don't know what the heck you were doing. Y 'all need to go back and watch this. Chris Jones is a defensive player for the Chiefs. Probably one of the best defensive players for the Chiefs. Man's just standing up, lollygagging, looking around.
1:02:13Like, I need to send you a video, Victoria, because he's just, he's not doing anything. He's literally not doing anything. Yeah, he's just standing around, like, looking. And like, he kind of like looks like he's going to go for the ball, like go for the player to tackle him. Doesn't do anything. Trevor Lawrence ends on Jags win. Call it a day. Go home. Go home. It was amazing. It was amazing. Incredible. That's insane. It's so good. Great football. It was a great football to watch. Trevor Lawrence on that entire last drive, honestly, making magic happen. Like every pass was like an iconic elite level pass.
1:02:49It was such a rush. I loved watching it. So happy birthday, Trev. And congrats on your two. On his birthday, too. And your win over the Chiefs on your birthday. A Libra King. We love it. OK, really quickly. Devin Lloyd, 99 yard pick six from Patrick Mahomes. Ninety nine yards. The defensive lineman, Giovanna and I were talking about this earlier, runs out of bounds, comes back in, still can't get him. That guy's got wheels. but he does low key yeah literally but 99 yard pick you know what actually though i was thinking that the chiefs was a defender who had the wheels it's an offensive guy on the chiefs trying to catch defender devin lloyd and i think we had that backwards in our brains oh we did yeah you're so right you're so right that makes no he's an offensive person that makes so much i need to go back and like look at that play i don't know who it was but yeah talk about wheels mans was a moving down the sideline he was like he was determined you know and i can appreciate the hustle i can appreciate the hustle but like you weren't catching him yeah he wasn't catching him though no it was not happening sorry yeah and then patrick mahomes the internet's kind of up in arms because patrick mahomes is seen on the sideline like clapping.
1:04:10And so the internet is like, what? Yes. I saw this. I actually saw this. You know what I think? I think he was like trying to keep the morale like of his team. Mind you, he's the one that just threw the freaking pig. So like. Yeah. But also like game recognizes game. Like when I was an athlete and I saw somebody do something really good, I was like, you know what? That's badass. Because I think like good, well-intended players can recognize when something's fucking insane. And that was insane. Yeah. So I think the clap was like aggressive. You could have been like, I don't know, but whatever. It was insane overall.
1:04:44Yeah. Yeah. Agreed. Okay. Let's do a couple of hot takes and then let's go. First hot take. The Chiefs are not a Super Bowl contender this year. These are for the girls. They lost to the Jags. I would agree with that. I will say we have to, I am holding out hope until Rasheed comes back. until I see like two games with Rasheed being played and then losing. I'm holding out hope, but I wouldn't agree with that statement. Yes. We got asked, are these two wins giving Trevor L. A.K. Ken the confidence he needs to succeed? Or is it just major foul plays by opponents? I think he earned them. I think that the foul plays helped, but the foul plays help everyone.
1:05:32Yeah. and there's there's all there's always going to be like bad calls there's always going to be like things you know i think he earned it yeah i feel 50 50 to be honest like really thinking about it i feel 50 50 yeah that's fair we have flacco is like a traveling nurse he just goes where the need is not wrong at all great comparison joe flacco is officially the traveling nurse of the NFL. Yep. Yep. Okay. And then the Patriots will make the playoffs. I think yes. Hey, Stefan Diggs had a game last night. So if Stefan plays like that and Drake may plays like that, you also have Hunter Henry at Titan.
1:06:19Who's one of the best Titans in the league right now. I don't know about Super Bowl but playoffs first round of the playoffs I see it I see them going out in the first round yeah yeah I think a little bit of extra like I think that they're feeling really confident right now which I think is good for their entire entire team and like okay well I think that that's all we have oh very last thing David Montgomery running back for the Lions also known as Knuckles and Sonic and Knuckles, Gibbs and Montgomery, the running backs that are heard around the world. He has a sister who has never been able to watch him play in the NFL.
1:07:00She has a disability and she's in a chair and she was able to make it to the game for the very first time ever. And David Montgomery not only scored a rushing touchdown or running back touchdown, but he also had a play where he threw a touchdown. So he was a college quarterback, through a touchdown and his sister was able to see him get both of those plays. So, so cute. We'll leave it on that note. Tell your siblings you love them. And that's all we have. You can find us on social at the game, the podcast on substack, the game, the podcast.substack.com. All of those hot takes did come from our chat.
1:07:37Giovanna at Giovanna Scroggins, me at Hey Victoria Henderson. Listen to Izzy and her breakdown of the high Frankie astrological times NFL app on Friday. And we love you. And thanks for listening and let us know what you thought of the episode. And also if you're still on here, hi, Amanda, thanks for listening. I love you. Okay. Bye. Bye.
