In short

Podcast SEO discoverability—how to rank on Apple and Spotify using keyword research, searchable titles, show names, categories, and show notes so high-ticket coaching clients can find the show with intent.

Guest backgrounds

No guests. Host is Tony (a “robot” bit), founder/representative of GetMoreListeners.com. Mentions founders Tighe and Anthony.

Key claims

Most coaches miss discoverability by ignoring keywords, using vague “fluffy” titles, and adding guest names that don’t have search volume. Ranking for high-traffic search terms increases clicks, retention, and client conversions.

Notable examples

Stress-management episode—choose “how to reduce stress” (3,000 searches) over “stress management” (180). Title example: “How to reduce stress as a business owner without burning out” vs “Episode 15, Stress Tips.” Guest-name title tradeoff: “Interview with John Smith…” vs keyword-first value title.

0:00Today, you'll learn how to increase your podcast discoverability on Apple and Spotify so you can be easily found by thousands of ideal clients who are actively searching for your content. Welcome to How to Grow a Podcast that attracts high-ticket online coaching clients. The show helping coaches, consultants, and experts turn your slow-growth podcast into a profitable client attraction system. At the end of this episode, I'll share a little more about who I am and what we do at my company, GetMoreListeners.com. It might even shock you. But for now, let's dive into the episode. In this episode, you'll discover how your titles could make or break the discoverability of your show, why keywords and search terms are critical if you want high-ticket clients to find you on streaming platforms, and how to find the right keywords so your podcast ranks higher on Apple and Spotify.

0:59This is part two of our podcast SEO series. Before we go deeper, here's a quick recap. There are 11 million daily listeners in America alone. More than 50 % of those listeners go to Apple and Spotify to discover new podcasts. Podcast SEO is all about getting your podcast to rank higher on Apple and Spotify, increasing your organic reach, and making your show easily discovered by people actively searching for your content. This is critical because these listeners are already looking for what you offer. They have a problem they need solved. If you can rank high for the right terms, they'll find you.

1:43And it's ten times easier to convert them into clients because they came to you with intent. There are four parts to the podcast SEO process. Discoverability, today's focus. Having the right keywords in your titles, show name, and show notes. Visibility Being seen and clicked on over competitors. User engagement Increasing retention time so Apple and Spotify recommend your show more. High relevance Dominating a keyword and building authority so you consistently rank at the top. Today is all about discoverability. making sure you're ranking for the right terms so ideal clients can find you. Most online coaches with podcasts make three critical mistakes when it comes to discoverability.

2:37Mistake number one, being completely unaware of keywords. A keyword is simply a search term, what a listener types into Apple or Spotify to find content like yours. Most coaches have no idea what keywords their ideal clients are searching for. They create content in a vacuum, hoping people will stumble across it. Mistake number two, using fluffy, vague titles. Titles like Episode 23, Mindset Matters, or A Chat with Sarah, tell you nothing. They don't include searchable terms. They don't communicate value. They're invisible to search algorithms Mistake number three Adding guest names in titles when they don't have search volume This is one of the most common mistakes we see Coaches add their guest's name to the title But if the guest isn't a well-known authority It actually works against you Here's why When you're targeting new listeners who've never heard of your guest Their name means nothing It doesn't communicate value.

3:51It doesn't help you rank. And worse, it takes up valuable character space that could be used for high-traffic keywords. Let's say you have 60 characters for your title. Would you rather use those characters to say, Interview with John Smith about pricing, or How to charge premium prices without losing clients? The second title is searchable, specific, and valuable The first is invisible to anyone who doesn't know John Smith Now, I know what you're thinking But I need to show respect to my guest I'm giving them a platform I completely understand But here's the reality Your goal is to get this episode discovered by as many people as possible That's what you owe your guest Maximum Exposure Most guests won't even ask about the title But if they do, simply explain We're targeting new listeners who don't know you yet For people unfamiliar with your name, it actually reduces clicks We're better off prioritizing keywords that make the episode more discoverable That way, more people will hear your message Most guests will completely understand It shows expertise.

5:15It makes them feel confident in your ability to market the show. The objective with podcast SEO is to rank high for high-traffic keywords, search terms with a lot of monthly search volume. These are keywords that tons of listeners are typing into Apple and Spotify every month, actively looking for content like yours. When you rank high for the right terms, you dramatically increase your discoverability. More ideal clients find you. More of them become listeners. More of them book calls. The three-step process to improve discoverability. Step 1. Conduct keyword research. This step helps you identify relevant, popular search terms related to your podcast content and specific episodes.

6:09Here's how. A. Ask yourself, what would my ideal client search for to find this episode? Let's say you recorded an episode about managing stress as a business owner. What search terms might they type in? Stress management. Handling stress. How to reduce stress. Stress relief for entrepreneurs. Managing overwhelm B. Use free tools to check search volume Tools like Ubersuggest or Google Trends show you how much search volume a keyword gets each month. These tools show Google search volume rather than Spotify or Apple search volume, which isn't publicly available, making it the best representation of how popular a keyword is and whether we should use it in our titles.

6:59Example You check three keywords. Stress management, 180 monthly searches. Relieving stress, 200 monthly searches. How to reduce stress, 3 ,000 monthly searches. Winner, how to reduce stress is more specific and has the highest search volume. That's what you'd use in your title. Step two, add keywords to your episode titles and show name. Once you've identified your winning keyword, use it in your episode title. Bad title. Episode 15, Stress Tips. Good title. How to reduce stress as a business owner without burning out. Also, make sure your show name includes your main keyword. If your podcast is about high-ticket sales for coaches, include high-ticket sales or client attraction in your show name.

7:57This helps you rank higher for those terms consistently. Step 3. Optimize your show categories and show notes. Categories. Make sure you're in the right, specific categories on Apple and Spotify. Don't just select business. Go deeper. Is there a subcategory for entrepreneurship, coaching, or sales? Be as specific as possible. Show Notes Sprinkle relevant keywords naturally throughout your show notes. Don't keyword stuff. Write for humans first. But make sure your main keywords appear a few times so Apple and Spotify understand what your episode is about. Let's be honest. You have a message to share and expertise that can transform lives.

8:47But what good is incredible content if no one finds it? That's where effective SEO and discoverability come into play. They allow you to be found by the people who are actively looking for your content and need it most. Imagine your podcast as a shining star, radiating brilliance. SEO is the beacon that guides people toward your star, attracting the right clients with a magnetic pull. By optimizing your podcast for search, you make it exponentially easier for ideal clients to discover your show on Apple and Spotify. You expand your reach. You increase the chances of connecting with the exact people you are meant to serve.

9:32And here's the exciting part. You have the ability to shape your podcast growth. It's not about leaving things up to chance or relying on luck. It's about implementation, taking action, and embracing podcast SEO. So, starting today, here's what you need to do. Conduct keyword research for every episode. Ask, if someone wanted to find this episode, what would they search? Use high-traffic keywords in your episode titles, show name, and show notes. Do this consistently, not just once or twice, but for every episode moving forward. Don't use ChatGPT to generate keywords blindly. Learn the skill yourself.

10:20Use the tools. Understand your audience's search behavior. The results have been transformational for the coaches we've worked with, and I'm confident they'll be transformational for you, too. Discoverability is the foundation of podcast SEO. If ideal clients can't find you, nothing else matters. By conducting keyword research, using high traffic terms in your titles, and optimizing consistently, you position your podcast to be found by thousands of people who are actively searching for exactly what you offer. In this episode, we covered how your titles could make or break the discoverability of your show, why keywords and search terms are critical if you want high-ticket clients to find you on streaming platforms, and how to find the right keywords so your podcast ranks higher on Apple and Spotify.
